5\10
it cookssssssssssss
I played this game as a kid and it scared me so bad! I loved playing again as an adult. So nostalgic and the story is fun. Classic Nancy Drew game.
a classic
This game is excellent!
wish i could return and get my money back on this one. too glitchy to navigate, a useless layout, theres no checklist or notebook.
Lots of running around and doesn't navigate easily. Need to re-do long processes over and over.
Great game takes me back.
50 drumsticks please...chicken that is..CLUCK CLUCK
One of the simpler Nancy Drew games, but still a decent one. It's definitely also one of the quicker stories to get through. Unfortunately, it does suffer a few issues - the aiming for the navigational clicks are off and it's easy to miss where to go or even how to move in the environment because of it. Fortunately, most of the games don't have this problem. Also, the culprit was extremely obvious from the get-go. Either way, it's an interesting little story and I still recommend giving it a play.
a lovely detective game.
or a puzzle game disguised as a mystery game.
A lot of people recommended starting with this as your first Nancy Drew game, and it was delightful. Absolutely recommend.
This one is a favorite of mine. Even if the controls are a little wonky and frustrating at times. It keeps me interested the whole time, and I never feel so lost as to need external help.
I do, however, hate professor hotchkiss.
amazing critical thinking puzzle game with a fun historical story line.
Also gives you a cozy sense of nostalgia. 10/10 !
One of my favorite nancy drew games
Exactly what someone else said really, been playing the old games I never played as a kid. Still love how nostalgic it makes me feel but I really got annoyed by this one. Love the silly accents and characters but god I hated running around the hallways and getting lost constantly. Missing something for me.
Professor Hotchkiss is an icon, a legend and she is the moment.
This was the first Nancy Drew game I ever played. The storyline was great, most of the characters were lovable. highly recommend this one if you're just getting into the series.
love the HALLWAYS!!!
As someone who is nostalgic of nancy drew games, this review will be biased.
However, this being one of the oldest nancy drew games, I can't dock it TOO much, but it was definitely very puzzling on what to do or where to go. I got lost ALL. THE. TIME. Which I suppose was the point, but it did frustrate me to no end, ESPECIALLY during the timed moments(theres only a couple and can be solved easily, but the pressure of being timed makes ones brain go stupid.) I fell in LOVE with the characters writing wise. They're all there to make you feel bad for them AND make you think they're the prime suspect all at once like any other nancy drew game.
The plot was kind of...ehh? But I did really love the books and actual facts that they accounted for when making the backstory. This game threw actual research of history at you about why Marie Antoinette was misunderstood and just as much of a victim of the royal family that the peasants were if not more due to them making her a scapegoat and slandering her name in history as being selfish when in reality she was confused and ignorant. I'm only surprised because this was made WAY before research like that was even popularized in media or history books.
So, from a childhood standpoint, games like this I enjoy because it makes you think not only about puzzles and "whodunit", but about how a corrupt system can hurt people on both sides of it. There might be inaccuracies in the story but thats the point, its to make nancy drew do something spectacular and cool like find Maries crown jewels and her treasure. The point is it used actual moments of history to MAKE the fictional storyline and I honestly loved that about this game.
Gameplay wise it lacked compared to other nancy drew games, but if you like reading up on history and talking to npcs, this is the game for you.(in my opinion).
However if its not your thing and you just want more action than story, this one might be a bit boring lmao.
I love this game! Its great. So many fun puzzles, great snow sounds, frick that radiator though.
oh the nostalgia!
Treasure in the Royal Tower is the fourth of the Nancy Drew adventure games. Nancy's ski vacation turns into a mystery when she has to figure out which of the people she's snowed in with has been vandalizing the resort in search of a mysterious treasure.
The mystery drew me in and I enjoyed getting to know the castle, its history, and how the other characters were related to it. The investigation touches on some of the real history of revolutionary France, although there are a lot of embellishments for the plot. Some of the characters are a little over the top, but I liked how a couple of them come around to you as you get to know them and help them out with things. The vandal's identity surprised me the first time around, but on a second playthrough there’s definitely plenty of foreshadowing along the way.
Most of the puzzles and tasks you complete can be done in any order, but there are a few that are supposed to happen in a sequence. When I played this a few years ago, everything happened more or less in the order it was supposed to. However, in my last playthrough, I did a bunch of stuff really out of order. It never fully broke the game, but some important conversations happened out of order or were missing pieces entirely. That would have made the story hard to follow in certain spots for a totally new player, but then again I'm not sure how likely it is that a totally new player would try to do the things I did out of order.
The puzzles were mostly straightforward and a little easy but a few towards the end were more tricky. A couple of objects were also just hard to spot. The end game has a lot of backtracking and having to redo simple puzzles to get back and forth. These were pretty easy, just a little annoying.
Although this game is pretty old, I didn’t have any issues getting it to run on Windows 10. I played on a pretty big screen and some smaller pieces of text were so blurry they were hard to read, although the game lets you zoom in on the really important ones. The hotspots were kinda finicky and zooming out on things you look at was sometimes tricky.
Treasure in the Royal Tower has some bugs and definitely shows its age, but nevertheless has an interesting story and puzzles. While I have to admit nostalgia makes me a bit more forgiving of its weaknesses, I still think it's a pretty solid entry in the series overall. 7/10
One of my favourites! The gameplay is a little outdated and you don't get as many functions as with the newer games, but it's a terrific story with great puzzles and an awesome location. Love!
Treasure in the Royal Tower was one of the first computer games I owned, and I remember playing it over and over, whenever I was allowed on the family computer! So it was really cool to get to play it again. I was so excited to get to explore the castle again, and to re-meet the characters, especially Dexter! That said, I don't think this game flows quite as well as later Nancy Drews. There's quite a lot of aimless wandering around, trying to work out what to do next, and it's sometimes difficult to get the arrow in exactly the right place to click on the right thing. I still definitely recommend it though, particularly if you're a fan of Nancy Drew and/or exploring old castles!
this was on of the first games I played and I still love playing it
Only takes two days to finish the game.
This wasn't my favorite Nancy Drew game, but it's definitely worth playing! I found that I would do something in a different way than the game intended and then I would be at a standstill and have to look up what I did wrong and do it again, but their way. I enjoyed the puzzles and overall liked the game, but I didn't love it.
I played all the ND games as a kid with my mom and sister. Now I am trying to replay them all as an adult. This one was one of the first so I don't remember it at all. Since it is an older game, the graphics and gameplay reflect that but it's still a great play overall. Sometimes there's so much just walking around and talking to people it can get boring but its all part of the Nancy Drew magic!
Overall worth playing once, but apart from better characters it's worse than previous "Message in a Haunted Mansion". The music is good, but location feels empty - too many long corridors without any mean. It even seemed like developers pointed out this fact with quite a number of "Dead ends" on purpose. The story is OK. Although, progression in the beginning of the game is too repetitive and slightly boring, it gets interesting from the mid-point of the game.
Similar to previous game, the only difference between Junior and Senior detective is literally 1 puzzle and absence of hints from friends on the phone.
I would love to see this and #3 Remastered one day similar to Secrets Can Kill
I really miss old quirky, mystery games like this! 10/10 I'd recommend to anyone.
This is such a classic Nancy Drew game, perfect for beginners and a favorite of veterans! I'm no exception. Solving a centuries-old mystery never ceases to be a thrill, and the game is largely responsible for my obsession with Marie Antoinette.
the very first game i played in nancy drew. i can quote each character verbatim, i swear. spicy devil villain venom anyone?
I may be biased for reasons of sentimentality and nostalgia, but this game is by far one of my favorites out of the Nancy Drew mysteries. My sister and I played this so many times over the years since it was released all those years ago and it remains one of the most beautiful and creative for its time in my opinion. The music is always so hauntingly beautiful and at times as regal as the castle is. Its the perfect game to play on a rainy day or when you are snowed in like Nancy and the suspects are in the game. The game has just enough history for all the history gurus out there and enough fantasy to keep you interested. I hope it never gets remastered like "Secrets Can Kill" was because this game is perfect as is.
As a childhood Nancy Drew game fan, I'm playing all of the games that I didn't get to play when I was younger - so far, this one is probably my least favorite. The characters don't have a lot of depth, the puzzles are lacking in complexity and are usually just you running errands, and the setting is beautiful but hardly used to its fullest potential. I thought I'd be going into more rooms or opening more of the dead end passageways...I even drew a map thinking I would need it, LOL
Lots of funny charm like any other Nancy game, but it was very common for me to get stuck because I didn't trigger the right sequence, or because I accidentally got ahead and attempted a puzzle before I was "supposed to." Accessing some rooms through a difficult sequence over and over got frustrating, and don't even get me started on turning, lol. I just want to turn left or right in one click! Also, if you miss a door, you have to turn around to get to the right spot to open it again.
The ending was also a little obvious. I think Her Interactive was definitely still figuring things out in this one. I'd say play it, but maybe don't have it at the top of your list.
This is a childhood memory for me. Absolutely unbeatable
My first and all time favorite ND game. I first played this on a giant, clunky Dell desktop right after it came out. It was the day after Christmas, late at night, and it was snowing. The ambiance was perfect. This is an excellent introduction to the series if you're just starting out.
Decent educational game. I was introduced to the brief history of French Revolution and about Marie Antoinette.
Such a fun game to play! There were puzzles, thrills and a lot of putting clues together.
This is one of my favourite from the Nancy Drew series. It brings truly nostalgic feelings from my childhood, when I was playing it during the winter blizzard. Of course as some old games it has its flaws, and also may seem a bit boring at the begining. But it creates such a cozy and warm atmosphere! And also the music by Kevin Manthei is a masterpiece as always. So I highly recommend this game to any fan of Nancy Drew series, especially if you want to feel this nostalgia.
Definitely one of my favorite "classic" Nancy Drew games. Love the music in the castle and the whole French theme. Also LOVE Professor Hotchkiss!
This has been a blast to play! I grew up reading all of the Nancy Drew novels and have enjoyed playing these games. 10/10 recommend! Having someone to play with helps a lot as well!
I love Treasure in the Royal Tower. It was my first Nancy Drew game. Its controls and navigation are a little outdated, and there aren't many puzzles, but the story is engaging and it has good characters. Except Jacques. Boo. Dexter LOML. Thank you so much.
I had the same issue with older Nancy Drew game as well, but it's quite tedious and not smooth/rewarding that you have to redo the puzzles that you've already solved just because those puzzles are in the way...
good game
First one I played back in.... 2001? Not sure. Anyway the later games obviously have more quality of life features and are more refined, but this is where I recommend people start because of that. Start here and the whole series can still be fun. Start with something later and its really hard to go back
One of the first games I ever played. It's kinda cheesy at times. Even so I absolutely adore it. It greatest strength is how you feel like your actually in a castle with hidden passages in it. Compared to some of the other games in the series (Looking at you Curse of Black Blackmoor Manor) the castle doesn't feel like a few rooms connected by nonsensical passage ways, but a place that would actually function as a hotel.
She's an old beauty, this game. It feels optimistic, like how the world must have felt in the early 2000s. It's a little convoluted and at points, far too idealistic. But dang if it doesn't get 10/10 for nostalgia.
Fun Game, good puzzles, hot frenchies
Either this one or Danger on Deception Island was my first Nancy Drew game. I really enjoyed these as a child and as a teenager. I still have yet to finish some of these!
In this title, Treasure in the Royal Tower, I enjoyed the setting; I've always been interested in castles, and the castel in the game is no exception. :)
The game has a cozy, wintry vibe; Nancy is "snowed-in" for most of the game, but there was something really comfy about exploring the castle (and its wonderful library!) while the snow fell outside.
I also really enjoyed the historical stuff in the game! While some of it is fictional/made for the sake of puzzles in the game, I enjoyed seeing some interesting inventions and references to historical figures and inventions.
I enjoyed the mystery factor of the game as well; some of the environments were quite foreboding and mysterious; the castle has lots of "dead ends" and bricked-up walls, and it was was fun to explore (though sometimes a bit confusing!) The architecture is beautiful and I'm sure history-lovers would enjoy it. :)
Good game, my best part is eletrical repear... hate qhis task of game, but it is really a hard game, because you need to understand a lot of things for solve this mistery. But case just solved.
Even though it's on the older side I have really enjoyed playing this game. There are some funny moments along with the excitement and plenty of fun puzzles. The characters are interesting and well written along with the plot of the game. Great game in my book. 10/10
It’s rare that I make through an “adventure game” due to their sometimes excruciatingly slow pace and my ADHD, but I made it through this one. I liked it and I’ve already bought some more Nancy Drew games.
That said, there is a lot to dislike about the experience. Navigation is just about the worst I’ve experienced in a game. Some of the sound design is over the top obnoxious (clock alarm, library alarm, library alarm buttons) and the SFX volume jumps all over the place.
It can also get really confusing and tedious going back and forth and back and forth over and over again. I did also end up needing a walkthrough many times, which I’m not a fan of.
There really needed to be some form of faster travel between locations and a goal tracker of some sort.
Just to reiterate though: I did enjoy the game. It had an interesting premise and the historical stuff was interesting too. I’m actually surprised to be saying that, as I’m not normally into that kind of stuff.
Some of the puzzle concepts/secrets were really clever!
That said, I think the game is over-priced at $9.99. It’s really REALLY old and the navigation is just so incredibly torturous.
Still, if you want a cool mystery to solve and can handle an outdated experience, you could do much worse.
Not many puzzles. Decent story
a bit tedious, but its expected for n older ND game <3
Another classic Nancy Drew mystery, and another cozy, light-hearted mystery adventure that's still a wonderfully fun time!
Solid game. Took a bit to get used to the movement but once you get the hang of it it's fun to just be running and turning around randomly. Puzzles were good and really challenging on Senior Detective mode. And the cast of characters were awesome and unique. 7.8 out of 10. (8.9 if they would let you eliminate suspects with the shank.)
I've never clicked so much in my entire life
good and fun.
Good game, some puzzles slow the mouse movement considerably.
The culprit was obvious and there was A LOT of talking back and forth between characters, but exploring the tower and secret rooms were fun and I really enjoyed the development for the caretaker!
I've been on a Nancy Drew marathon for the past few weeks and I can say with confidence that this has been my least favorite so far by a mile
- Barely any real puzzles?? Most of the game is just fetching items, inputting codes and slotting stuff in place but I rarely ever had to think for myself
- Truly awful navigation and map layout (SO much dead space?? Literally 50% of the map is completely unused and just there to make travel time longer and more obnoxious)
- Underwhelming story in which the characters' actions don't make a lot of sense and the conclusion is the biggest case of deus ex machina yet
- Bland locations with no personality that just don't do it for me
75% of this game is just walking around and having to redo the same routine of secret door to secret door to code to secret door to hallway over and over and over again cuz you accidentally went through the wrong door, which forces you to redo the whole thing
Nancy Drew in fake Paris!
So other then the fact that this game is trying to be super French but is definitely somewhere in America is humours to me. I enjoyed the puzzles in this old classic and loved learning more about Marie Antionette.
Classic old ND game.
Another great Nancy Drew entry! I liked the story, though I think some of the controls were wonky (very small hitboxes?) and routes to some rooms were long and tedious (reminded me a lot of the Curse of Blackmoor Manor in that sense). I still had a lot of fun!
Solid game. Some of the triggers for different puzzles can get a little finicky, and navigating the halls was a little finicky because of how similar they all looked, but it was still fun and I quite liked the mystery in this one and how the villain operated.
A classic Nancy Drew game! If you have never played before, just be ready for clunky movements and such. I was made over 20 years ago now. Still a favorite of mine. The music is great. Fun puzzles, too! I recommend all the Nancy Drew games! I'll keep playing for as long as my computer can run them.
i wart it game to work
It breaks my heart to give a negative review to a Nancy Drew game since I love the them... However, the navigation of this game and the controls just killed all the fun for me... I finished the game but damn I don't understand why they chose to build the routes of the castle in this way... Also the villain kind of did not make sense to me in the end, I feel the character was not detailed/believable enough...So I would say it is only okayish game, there are better ND games
I've currently played the first 3 Nancy Drew games (excluding Stay Tuned for Danger, not on Steam) and this one had my favorite story! I thought the characters were fun and I was somewhat surprised by the ending. The puzzles also weren't that difficult and I only needed to use a guide a few times for them. I really enjoy these "closed room" mysteries that take place in one location as opposed to multiple like in Secrets Can Kill. So glad I got to play this!
Personal favorite ND game. Fun, cozy and includes a funny french man.
fun
Old school Nancy Drew! A fun nostalgic replay.
May not be the best mystery, but still a great one nonetheless.
I think what shines in this installment is the overall story being unraveled, plus one of the best characters in a Nancy Drew game: Professor Beatrice Hotchkiss. She definitely stands out a lot and her characterization is super fun to listen to and uncover. I do like though how much everything made sense at the end because I thought there were gonna be some plot holes, but they were explained well.
Just a note, since this is one of the earlier games, there are some parts where you have to look at specific areas just to find the next thing you need so be sure to thoroughly scan the scene.
Overall a cool Nancy Drew game to recommend.
this game is so old and there is dust all over it aaaaah
My hot and gay wife has these games so now I'm going to play through the Nancy Drew series, as someone who missed out on the games as a child and also never read any of the books
TREASURE IN THE ROYAL TOWER
This game is much more ambitious than its three predecessors. But it seems for every new thing which is good, there's something which falls flat.
GOOD: There's more puzzles than in previous games!
BAD: It's often hard to determine what you are being asked to do in order to progress and the interface makes the puzzles harder than they need to be.
GOOD: This is the first game where it's clear, when your cursor changes, whether you are going to move forward, turn to the side, turn backward, or interact with what you click on!
BAD: Because the game is much larger and there are far more nodes to explore, it's *harder* despite the improved interface. Many times I struggled to continue simply because I had missed a thing I could interact with.
GOOD: Game is more difficult than its predecessors so you don't breeze through it in an hour!
BAD: Oftentimes it is difficult because you "don't know what you don't know," meaning you have no idea what you are supposed to do next and you think you have all the relevant information, but you don't have all the relevant information, so when you finally solve it you don't feel smart - you just say "how was I supposed to know I was meant to do that."
GOOD: The puzzle for
entering the library the first time
and the puzzle for
getting to the basement
are both incredibly brilliant and integrated into the world, instead of being random brain teasers like most other puzzles in this series so far. I felt like a real super-sleuth when I figured this sequence out.
BAD: Unfortunately, you have do them, at minimum, THREE times. This includes two puzzles
in the basement
which reset every time you enter, meaning they must be re-solved a minimum of twice, if you play the game optimally. One of these puzzles has a new solution every time you look at it, and the only way to solve is trial-and-error. BAD PUZZLE. BAD PUZZLE. NO BISCUIT.
GOOD: The game world is much larger than previous games with plenty of secret passageways!
BAD: All secret passageways have shortcuts back to the main game, but these shortcuts are one-way, meaning you always have to re-do whatever you did to get into the passageways in the first place. There is no reason to do this. Once Nancy Drew has demonstrated she knows where the passageway is and how to get in, she should always be able to backtrack. The game could have easily done this. It does not save any noticeable amount of time or space to make these two-way.
GOOD: The game runs on a timer, where certain characters are in certain locations at certain times, and sometimes the puzzles require knowing people's schedules so you can intercept them.
BAD: While it's nice you can skip ahead to whatever time you wish, you are going to have to do this a lot even if you are playing the game optimally. You'll probably have to skip over an entire day at least twice. It gets annoying when you are trying to figure out what to do next so you're constantly skipping time and trying every little thing in every little location.
GOOD: The story has plenty of moments of intrigue, where you are encouraged to make your own inferences from the clues you're given.
BAD: The story is also wildly implausible. The whole mystery centers around (HUGE SPOILER)
the Royal Tower, which is not a replica of the tower where Marie Antoinette lived but the ACTUAL tower, taken apart, shipped to Wisconsin, and rebuilt exactly to spec. At no point in this process did anyone discover (a) the puzzles, (b) the solutions to those puzzles, (c) the hidden journal, or (d) the freaking diamond. Come on
. I'm willing to suspend *some* disbelief, especially when it relates to accommodating video game logic. This one is too far, though. Makes it kind of laughable that no one
found the treasure years and years ago
.
GOOD: Hotchkiss is an interesting and fun character. I hear she will be in later games, which is good.
BAD: Uh, the voice acting throughout is not great. It's not *too* bad, and I can't really knock 90s and early 2000s games for this since it was a pretty common issue that wasn't always the fault of devs. However, this one gets on my nerves. Jacques' French accent is too fake to be charming but not fake enough to be funny. Nancy Drew and Hotchkiss both speak with a better French accent. Just hire a guy who speaks French! Also, tell the guy who voiced Dexter that "Library" has two Rs and is not pronounced "Lie-berry." I've also come to terms with the fact that Nancy Drew's voice actor was in her 50s at the time and sounds like it, but one of the characters who is supposed to be older than Nancy sounds like she is 11. It's such a weird choice. I took the other games in stride but this one was too much.
OVERALL: 2/5 (it's got its highs and it's got its lows)
I mean, if you like Nancy Drew games you will probably like this one. If you're willing to overlook the (pretty egregious imo) faults then the good parts of the game will definitely make it worth playing. You should at least get far enough to find the secret passages because the act of getting there puts you through the best puzzles in the series so far.
In my review of all the Nancy Drew games on Senior Detective mode I give this one 5/10. I find this game very cozy to play. I think it has some good puzzles but honestly felt the story line and some of the characters lacking. I think it is a great Nancy Drew game if you are just starting out but not the best.
I'm almost 30 and glad I can tell my 9 year old self that I beat this game.
The older games can be harder to run on newer hardware, but I actually didn’t have any issues there. The point and clink can be a bit different to navigate, but I think the story and even puzzles make up for any negative opinions I have.
I played this game when I was a kid and didn’t care too much for it then, but I am glad I happy I repurchased it on Steam and gave it another go.
this is one of my fav games ever from ND and HER.
This is also one of the weaker ND games to me. A lot of QOL changes could have already been done back then to make the experience a bit smoother, also not a big fan of the long empty corridors. However the characters are really good in this one. Especially Prof Hotchkiss.
Treasure in a Royal Tower will always be my core Nancy Drew nostalgia. HeR Interactive began to get their footing starting with the previous title, Message in a Haunted Mansion, and we really get to see the established style of ND games begin to take off here with this release.
The atmosphere is cozy, the mechanics are slightly improved from MHM, and the French trivia surrounding Marie Antoinette shines here to make TRT memorable amongst the series.
With this title, a few things you'll experience are:
- Secret Passages
- Jewels
- Paintings
- Physical Puzzles
- Translating French
- French Revolution History
- Errand Running
- Dusting for Finger Prints
- Climbing into Places you shouldn't
- and Freezing to Death in the Cold.
Amazing classic Nancy Drew game. Beautiful scenery and music. Nice puzzles but not too challenging.
This one has my favorite puzzles out of pretty much all the games! The castle is fun to explore and the music is great for the setting. Plus, this is probably Hotchkiss at her least annoying! My only gripe is that this one has some of the worst navigation of all the games. I was often frustrated trying to click around the castle. I think it shows it's age in that way. I'd definitely put this game in my top 5 Nancy's!!
Great characters and storyline! Puzzles were logical and engaging without being too difficult or frustrating.
I don't like this era of the game where you don't have a cell phone, camera, notebook, checklist, etc. The navigating was awful and frustrating. I felt like I spent half the time wondering around aimlessly because the direction of the game wasn't clear. Admittedly spent waaaay too much time looking up guides because I couldn't figure out what to do next, only to learn I missed one interaction which stalled my gameplay. Actually, in my first run through, I literally had to restart after 5 minutes because I guess I didn't click the right dialogue for the first person you interact with and it wouldn't let me progress hahahah so irritating!!!
Also, I get that it literally has Royal Tower in the name, but the fact that most of the castle wasn't even interactive was beyond disappointing. I mean maybe I missed out on the easter eggs but this is my least favorite ND game I've played so far and I've probably played close to half of them by now. I felt it had very little content in comparison to some of the other games, too.
The only good thing I can say is that I enjoyed the positive tone about Marie Antoinette throughout the game, though, as I feel the same about her as Professor Hotchkiss.
Although one of the earliest games in the series, i]Treasure in the Royal Tower still stands out to this day as being a super fun ND game! The major downfalls of this game are how short it is and how easy the puzzles are, though.
The nostalgia 😭no cap
As the fourth game in the Nancy Drew Series, this one was the first to see significant improvement in both its script and gameplay. It is also the second in what I call "The Golden Twelve".
Compared to the prior game, this one does a much better job of keeping the player from solving puzzles early, and the major events that happen make sense and are kept in order. Its easier to navigate than the prior game and has a much more interesting location. The location itself is also more involved than the prior game, and it and its prior owner have a much more significant role to play in the story itself.
This is also the first game with memorable characters (And a reoccurring one as well.), well minus one. Each character has their own quirks, as well as decently filled out backstories that all align with the story of the game. Unlike the characters from Message in a Haunted Mansion, I actually liked many of the characters here.
Perhaps is it my nostalgia glasses speaking for me, but I find very little wrong with the game or gameplay. This is a solid entry in the series, and one of my go tos when recommending it. Though, perhaps the layout of the game screen, the inventory and lack of a cell phone have aged a bit, but this game DID come out in the early 2000s. And not having a cell was the norm.
If you are looking to jump into the Nancy Drew games in order which they were released, this is probably where you will want to start.
I've played a lot of Nancy Drew games. This one is terrible! It's nearly impossible to navigate around and makes the experience very tedious. It also crashed more than once. Things don't seem to be triggering as they should, either. Buy a different one.
One of my first Nancy Drew games I ever played, back when we had to get the cd roms. Still love it to this day! The story and the atmosphere are really what make this one for me tho!
haven't finished the game yet but there is entirely too much clicking. also jacques is stupid and i hate the layout of the place and also wisconsin
This is one of the first video games I ever played and it's also left one of the biggest impacts on me ever.
Dated textures, dated voice acting, puzzles are super vague about what to do. The mystery overall is meh. But atmosphere and charm carry the rest of it. Plus my nostalgia.
I love all of the Nancy Drew games
