A casual point-and-click adventure in the style of old LucasArts SCUMM games (Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, etc) - both in interface and general sense of humor. The draw here is of course the pervasive Yorkshire, England banter and culture...about seven years before the more recent and higher budget Thank Goodness You're Here!
While the experience is no Phoenix Nights, a grin never left my face. And unlike Phoenix Nights, you won't need a local translator to understand 3/4's of the dialog if unfamiliar with the dialects.
Of course, the elephant in the room here is the fact that the game is officially abandoned. The included four episodes are only a fraction of the original plan, and two are noticeably brief. The whole game will probably take you around two hours, and no sales are coming. So, if you're a $1/hr kinda gamer or not into British humor, this one might be a tough sell.

Yorkshire Gubbins is a reet proper game, it is. Full o’ heart and down-to-earth fun, like sittin’ on t’garden bench with a pint and a pack o’ pork scratchings. It’s simple as pie to play but keeps tha hooked like a good soap on t’telly.
Tha’s basically lookin’ after bits and bobs—yer “gubbins,” if tha will—collectin’ ‘em up and keepin’ ‘em tidy. It’s just like tidyin’ up yer mum’s attic, but without all the cobwebs and grumblin’. The controls are easy as, so tha can just crack on without any fuss or bother.
The game’s got that proper Yorkshire spirit—none o’ that fancy, flash stuff, just honest, plain good fun. It’s like a stroll through t’countryside on a bright day, nice and slow, takin’ in t’views and enjoyin’ t’quiet moments. And it’s got a bit of Yorkshire wit too, so tha’s bound to have a smile on yer face.
I’d say, if tha wants summat relaxing, with a bit of local flavour and plenty o’ charm, give Yorkshire Gubbins a whirl. It’s the kind of game that feels like a warm welcome and a good natter with an old mate. Proper good craic, that. Give it a go, and tha won’t be disappointed! 10/10
I've played this game front to back twice now. However, I haven't played this game in months, maybe a year. The reason I'm on the store page is because I think about this game a lot. Even now I'm thinking I'll play it again soon. I think this may be the most underrated, under-played, under-known game on this platform.
This game has a lot of character and a lot of identity. The writing is charming and hilarious. The voice acting is perfect. This game's only issue is that it's over long before you've had enough of Steggy and her world. I only hope one day it makes sense for the dev to come back and spend some more time on Yorkshire Gubbins..
I know it's a small gripe.. I mean, the game is fine, I guess. Fun enough and cutely made in an attempted old 80s style. But the bobbing. THE BOBBING!! Why do all the characters bob up and down ALL THE TIME all AT THE SAME TIME.
For me personally it makes the game unplayable as it distracts me too much and drives me completely bonkers. Big no for me even though I payed for it. Sigh.

Anyway, Yorkshire Gubbins is an exceptional point and click adventure game in a sense that it rewards you with actually funny jokes. It is charming, well-written, and the puzzles are fun too. Although, the puzzles could have been more difficult. The only bad thing is that there is not enough of it. Worth the full price of measly 5€. 5/5
For me this game is oddly calming, probably due to the exceptional voice acting. Lots of good jokes too. The robots are absolutely adorable! It's rather short, but really, really good!

I loved playing this game so much. It is made up of short episodes, but that means the humour is sustained and doesn't get stale. I've lived in Yorkshire the last 18 years and bought it for my wife (who is from Leeds and instantly laughed when she opened the menu).

Nice puzzles, some funny writing (and some misses), and a great aesthetic. The lighting effects particularly elevate it above many other pixel-art adventure games. Worth a go!

There are some issues - you cannot skip most dialogue and the graphics don't scale all that well - but those hardly matter.
It is very short (2 hours) but it is also very cheap.
Funny P&C games are very hit-or-miss to me, but the humour in Yorkshire Gubbins was right up my alley. Puzzles are simple but logical, characters and dialogue are funny and engaging, great voice acting by everyone, art is nice. Any nitpicks I have seem minor since I enjoyed the majority of the game so much. Charlotte Gore hit this out of the park. I bought it on sale but I would pay full price for this and I am a massive cheapskate with P&C games.

Having lived in Australia all my life I have no real idea what Yorkshire is like. Therefore I assume that everything in this game is 100% authentic as to how Yorkshire really is.
This means that Yorkshire is the most amazing place on earth with slug clones, singing robots and the worlds most heartwarming friendship between Bertrella and Steggy.

An absolutely lovely series of shorts set in a fantastical version of Yorkshire, England, Yorkshire Gubbins is a love letter to the region, absurd comedy, and classic point-and-click adventures. Included in this treasure trove is Verb School, the best tutorial for classic point-and-click adventures I’ve ever seen, and Holy Molluscamony and Humble Pie, two traditional (but lovely) shorts set in the magical realist version of Yorkshire. The voice acting really makes this game, and I found it so charming I immediately went and followed its creator on Twitter (who, it turns out, is also delightful). And the musical Aye, Fair Lady! is the best of the bit, and has an absolutely killer end credits song.
One of the best point and click games i've ever played! Eh by gum.
The Good:

+ Lip-sync is very well done, something I never thought I'd say for a pixel art game.
The Bad:
- Some actions need to be done in a specific order when they should work in another.
- Technical issue where instances of the game may be left running after closing, and can't be started again until they're force-closed.
Final thoughts:
I loved the games non-stop barrage of sarcastic humor, and found the characters to be very likable with highly distinct and refreshing personalities. The games a bit short, with a limited number of 'episodes', but I'd say what's already there is enough to make it worth the price of admission.
Side note: Make sure to read the store description to find out what order you should play the episodes in, it's not completely clear in-game.

Absolutely hilarious!
It's been a few years since I have played this, and I still consider this as one of the most delightful games I have ever played.
Loved the graphics, the voices and the humour. The Yorkshire accent adds to it as well. So so good!

Well this was just delightful.
A quirky, funny, surreal adventure game in the style of all the '90s point and click games from my childhood. It knows exactly what it wants to do, and executes it perfectly.
This is the work of a one woman production machine, and I have fallen in love with her [wonderful game]!
The graphics are simple but exude a whole lot of character (literally), and there are lots of little details that help to build the world. The Steggyvision bloom adds a definite extra dimension. Charming. That's the word I was looking for; the graphics are charming.
Sound is great. The voice cast are pitch perfect and transport the player straight into the mad universe of Yorkshire Gubbins. The cast are all from the region and so the whole experience is very authentic. The Yorkshire Robotics robots and the Slugkin are particularly accurate.
Soundtrack is also great. Again, in a nod to Lucasarts' classic adventures, the music is dynamic and reactive in much the same way as their Monkey Island [etc.] games. The hexMuse proprietary music engine is a clear call back to Lucasarts' own iMuse system, and it works beautifully.
The writing is smart and sharp, and there is a great deal of humour. This is first and foremost a comedic adventure. The situations our brave heroine finds herself embroiled in are at once so very normal and so very bizarre. I have read reviews describing the game as having a very British sense of humour; personally I think this is a universally funny game and should be enjoyed by [b]anyone[/b] with a sense of humour.

The game is episodic, and the creator does plan to release more content in the future. I would imagine that the base price will rise when new content is finally ready, but at the minute the game is very modestly priced and those who get on board now will receive all future content free of charge. Be aware that the experience currently only lasts around two hours, but the content is rich and satisfying.
The difficulty level is perhaps a little on the easy side, expecially if you are well versed in this style of game. Some of the achievements will require a little thought and gave me a good reason to replay a couple of times over. I will definitely revisit the game in the future, simply because I enjoyed it so much.
In conclusion, this is a very fine, very funny adventure and I cannot recommend it highly enough. A triumph of Yorkshire [software] engineering. I look forward to whatever comes next from the Stairfall Institute and their continued "Study of Simulacra and Phantasms".

Not played a point 'n' click game for a while, and I was not disappointed with this at all. A great little gem to be enjoyed by a huge audience. The Yorkshire accent made this even better, but since I am from Yorkshire, that might be a biased opinion!

Great little game. Fully of quirky humour. My only issue is that it is over too quickly. At 2 hours long, it falls short of the £1 an hour metric I use to determine value for money. Well worth buying if the price drops or extra episodes are added.

I really like that it's really grounded in Yorkshire; culturally I feel like there isn't enough media made in England that celebrate the diverse language and culture of the country outside of the main cities - especially not in video games. Usually you see some homogenised "Londonish thing" to represent England, and in schools, children are usually taught not to use their regional dialect "if they want to be taken seriously", so - I really like that this game is so *very Yorkshire*.
(Except, to me it sounds like they pronounce ginnel funny. Here in South Yorkshire It's normally like "jennel". But - hooray for language diversity! Maybe it's different in different parts of Yorkshire...)
But as well as its Yorkshire-ness, I really appreciate how often weird and surreal this game is, in contrast. It's all blended together so naturally.
And I guess that's part of what makes it hilarious and fairly unique. I *really like this game*.

The artwork is in about 4 different resolutions. The main viewport has gigantic pixels which makes the very odd standing animations very unsubtle and very distracting. After a few minutes they did my head in.
I re-tried the game a few times but no joy, the mishmash of unrelated artwork and eye-crossingly distracting animation wasn't something I could push past, unfortunately :/

This is probably one of the funniest games I have played in years. I am a little biased, as the dulcet Yorkshire tones make me long for home.
Aside from this nostalgia, the dialogue and story us genuinely funny - and above all, interesting and engaging.
I have very few games with pixel graphics (it just puts me iff), but in this I am more invested in everything else to really notice the graphics. This was a definite surprise as I initially wrote it off due to the graphic style.
Don't be fooled - This is an excellent game thus far (and probs worth a little more than the actuall price (shhhh)

Came here after playing Holy Molluscamony and Aye Fair Lady by the same developer for AdvJam2017 and 2018, which were both awesome. This game takes place in the same universe and has the same cute big-pixel graphics, with adorable bobbing characters and absolutely terrific voice acting. The puzzles are good and logical without being overly obtuse and they all make sense in the context. Talking with the characters and examing the objects will guide you to the correct solutions. But even more than the puzzles, I just love the humour. It's rare that a game succeeds to make me literally laugh out loud even once, yet YG managed at least half a dozen times and many, many smiles as well.
It's great that Holy Molluscamony is included as a bonus episode and since it chronologically takes place first (and is referenced in Yorkshire Gubbins) it makes sense to play it first, which I can certainly recommend.
Also, although you probably won't need the "Verb School" tutorial section, I'd urge you to try it out anyway. It's just as hilarious as the other parts of the game. A fiendish baby trick indeed!
All parts individually are nice and short, but together there's quite a bit of content in there (maybe Aye Fair Lady will even be integrated into it as a new episode? - but if not, try it out anyway) so the low price is really quite a steal. Honestly, there's nothing bad I can say about this game.

This is a plenty fun little bundle of three adventure vignettes (though one is only a tutorial). The humor is more absurd than laugh-out-loud funny, but that's just fine. I'm not a big fan of old-fashioned verb-based adventure interfaces, and that's as cumbersome here as it ever was, but the graphics on top make up for it. The main screen is a mess of chunky bobbing pixels that helps up the weirdness. Definitely an entertaining hour and half. Well worth it if you're into adventures.

A wonderfully enjoyable game with a great sense of humour. Classic point and click adventures were a significant part of my childhood and, with nostalgia or without it, Yorkshire Gubbins is a great example of what made it all so enjoyable. It doesn't take long to get through (something I actually prefer in the age of endless grind in games - I've already got a full time job, thanks) but perfectly executed - it leaves you with a hearty desire for adventure, and a peculiar craving for special meat. I doff my flat cap - and it pains me to say it, being from Lancashire. Seriously, that just gave me a stomach ulcer.
A fun and bite-sized old school point and click adventure with a distinctly British sense of humour. Some easy puzzles, some more complex puzzles, but nothing that's obscure causing you to get stuck. Has some fun achievements as well.

All joking aside, it's a great funny little title for those who play point-and-click adventure games for the humour. Considering it's half the price of a cinema ticket for twice the laughs, it's good value too.

The setting and the usage of Yorkshire, for what it has to offer, is criminally underrepresented in the realm of gaming. Yorkshire Gubbins takes advantage of this and provides a great example of Yorkish culture and humour with it's clever dialogue, ludicrous plot and overall fun in the setting of a small town in semi-rural Yorkshire like Ilkley, Roundhay or Halifax.
Content-wise, as of now, Yorkshire Gubbins will probably get you around 2-3 hours* of playtime if you know what you're doing. Gubbins currently consists of a 30 minute tutorial and two multiple-hour long short stories.

Honestly, pick it up. It's £3.99. There are places in England where that's the price of water (Looking at you, Westminster.) If you're that damn stingy then go pick it up when it's on sale; make sure to remember to pick it up though.

I've lived in Yorkshire for several years & this is one of the most accurate simulations I've ever seen of Yorkshire life. From the correct use of ginnels & love of pies, to the suspicious robots and secret society of slug people, everything is just as I might see it outside my window.
Really great point-and-click that's genuinely enjoyable & entertaining. One of the few games where I found myself laughing out loud from the tutorial onwards.

In early 2018, I discovered [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I], an episodic point-and-click adventure game set in a surreal version of Yorkshire. It’s a game that I purely took a chance on because of the praises it received from British game reviewers. Despite not being a Brit myself (heck, I didn’t even know the meaning of “gubbin” as a British slang), I found [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I] amusing. I could only imagine how much funnier the game would be if I were a Northerner, and understood the divide between the North and the South.
Pretty much singly developed by Charlotte Gore, [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I] has some sharp writing, which were wonderfully brought to life by fantastic voice acting. As an adventure game, it isn’t particularly difficult. The puzzles are merely vehicle for more jokes and comical dialogues. Adventure gamers who are familiar with Lucasfilm Games’ SCUMM interface will find themselves quite at home when playing [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I].
In its initial release in 2017, [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I] consisted of a tutorial called ‘Verb School’, the pilot episode called ‘Holy Molluscamony’, and the first episode, ‘Humble Pie’. Not much has happened since its release, as Gore announced that she was embarking on new ventures. After a year or two of silence, I personally thought [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I] was prematurely over. Then came a surprise…
In early April 2021, Gore added a new episode, ‘Aye Fair Lady’, to the game package. ‘Aye Fair Lady’ is in fact her entry for Adventure Jam 2018. It won first place in the community voting and the Judge’s Pick prize. Although it was (and still is) available for download on itch.io, Gore has officially incorporated this musical episode into the [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I] lore, along with Steam achievements for it and for ‘Verb School’. Having already played ‘Aye Fair Lady’ on itch.io a few years ago, it’s great to replay it to reacquaint myself with the eccentricity of Gore’s Yorkshire.
Here’s hoping Gore will continue to update [I]Yorkshire Gubbins[/I], perhaps more frequently. Since its release, the game hasn’t increase in price. Given its price point, it’s really worth checking out given its promise of additional content down the line.

I'm usually instantly sold on things that use the word "gubbins", so this had a big positive going for it from the off.
This is a delightful, idiosyncratic point and click collection, a handful of wonderful, eccentric mini-adventures revolving around Steggy and her peculiar friends. It has all the humourous charm of those old school point and clicks you know and love, but with its own individual, dry sense of humour. Puzzle-wise it's not too challenging, amd the animation is extremely limited, but it's the quality of the writing that really wins you over, and I look forward to going on many more bizarre little quests with Steggy and company.
A lovely way to spend an idle hour or two.

If I had to loosely describe Yorkshire Gubbins, I'd say it was the bastard offspring of Last Of The Summer Wine, League Of Gentlemen and Doctor Who. Featuring hilarious regional accents, surreal humour and budget science fiction staples like robots with televisions for heads and slug monsters with a penchant for cloning the local populace, the game is the horribly deformed brainchild of Charlotte Gore, creative wizard and nerd in chief behind Stairfall Institute. Charlotte seems to be more Swiss army knife than actual person, handling the coding, writing and art (among other things) for her episodic pixelated adventure. So, what's it all about then?
Standard point and click fare, with a distinctly British sensibility, and perhaps best of all, it's genuinely funny. You inhabit the blocky persona of Steggy, a young woman living with her telly obsessed mother in the darkest recesses of Yorkshire. At the beginning of the two available episodes (there's also a tutorial called ‘Verb School’, which is highly amusing and a recommended starting point for those unfamiliar with point and click adventure games) Steggy is confronted with some bizarre conundrum in need of a solution. As is normal for a game of this type, the solution is arrived at by wandering about the place, talking to people, and collecting items. These items are then used in a variety of interesting, and occasionally disturbing, ways in order to progress through the game.
The puzzles are not terribly difficult, with nothing frustratingly obtuse (you know, like “use the badger with the extension cord to make a rocket-propelled pram out of jelly babies”) and anyone with at least three brain cells to rub together won't get a stress-induced nosebleed. The story is original and the characters are by turns endearing, odd and a bit creepy -- personal favourites include Terry, the neurotic robot who refuses to leave his shrubbery until he's reassured he's ‘normal’, and the alien slug people fighting against discrimination, despite their habit of randomly cloning their neighbours. Throw in some great voice acting, and you've something virtually guaranteed to have you spraying tea over your monitor. (Seriously, don't drink beverages while playing this game. Nothing good will come of it.)
Graphically, the game falls into the ‘pixel art on steroids’ category, with both characters and environments comprised of large square blocks. It all works surprisingly well, with the characters animated in such a way they bob up and down in a quite comical fashion. The music sounds a bit like a man with a chronic head-cold playing a tuba, accompanied by a monkey on a xylophone. Which is probably appropriate given the nature of the game. Sound effects could be reasonably described as ‘functional’.
What really makes Yorkshire Gubbins stand out from a host of similar point and click adventures is the writing. I'm a fairly jaded soul at the best of times, and for a computer game to elicit anything more than a vague smirk out of me is a big ask. Yorkshire Gubbins had me clutching my sides and struggling to breathe. Some of the dialogue options are comedy gold. It's also proved to me that anything said in a Yorkshire accent is inherently funnier than the alternative. The tutorial alone is worth the price of admission, and you can play it for free on the Stairfall Institute website. The remainder is available on Steam. I played through Verb School, Holy Molluscamony and Humble Pie (everything available to date), and it took me just over two hours. Do I believe I got my money's worth? Aye. I do.
9/10 - Would pay TWENTY WHOLE PENCE again. And again. And again.

생뚱맞음이 지나치면 도리어 무덤덤해진다.
도트 감성의 게임이지만 요크샤이어 구빈즈 특유의 픽셀 그래픽은 딱히 뛰어나다고 평해주긴 좀 어려워보인다. 그래도 풀더빙이라는 점은 좀 칭찬해줘야 할지도. (성우의 연기 수준은 별개로 놓고 본다 치더라도) 인간을 흉내내는 달팽이괴물에 로봇에 온갖 뜬금없는 것들이 등장해 온갖 사고를 치는데, 오히려 뜬금없음이 너무 과해서 무덤덤해져 버린다. 비정상인들이 난무하고 유머가 가득한 어드벤처 게임치고는 이야기가 너무 정석적인 느낌이다.
본편에 해당하는 '험블 파이'와 보너스 에피소드는 그냥 고만고만하게 재밌다. 무난하지만, 강하게 추천할 정도로 재밌다고 보긴 좀 어려운 수준. 그 대신 튜토리얼격에 해당하는 '동사 학교'가 포인트 앤 클릭 게임의 클리셰를 제대로 풍자하기도 하고 깨알같은 패러디도 많아 이 쪽이 꽤 재밌다. '동사 학교' 같은 경우는 웹페이지에서 무료로도 플레이해볼 수 있다고 하니, 꼭 게임을 살 것이 아니라도 이 쪽은 한 번 플레이해보길 추천.
동사 9개를 적절한 상황에 활용해야 하는 복고풍의 게임플레이를 자랑한다. 단축키도 안 먹혀서 되게 옛스럽고 불편할 것 같은데, 게임이 상당히 짧기도 하고 생각보다 난해한 상황은 잘 없어서 스토리만 잘 따라가면 막힐 일은 거의 없을 것이다. 다만 대사 스킵 기능을 제대로 안 넣은 게 좀 문제가 된다.
결국은 도전과제 100%용 게임. 가격이 저렴하고 하니 한글화가 되준다면 한 번 해볼만은 한 게임이다.

It's funny, has good puzzles and good voice acting. Excellent tutorial that's worth playing for the humour even though you already know everything it teaches you. Great value. Definitely recommended.
As a yorkshire lad I was excited to play Yorkshire Gubbins, and all I can say is well done stairfall. It's a right proper romp already and I've only just finished Verb school (where I didn't really learn how to be an Hanzo main) can't wait to get through rest o' game and t' see what updates bring.
