I just finished Perception, and this game is awesome!
The mechanics alone make it stand out. You play as a blind protagonist, and instead of traditional sight, you navigate the world through echolocation (kinda like daredevil)! Every sound you make briefly reveals your surroundings. It’s such a simple concept, but the execution is incredible and so interesting. The environment literally builds itself around you in pulses of sound. It’s tense, immersive, and forces you to really think where you're going. Although sound is your lifeline in the game, it can also put you in danger. That balance creates such a unique kind of horror. You’re constantly weighing: do I stay quiet and risk not knowing what’s around me, or do I make noise and risk being noticed? It’s unsettling without relying on cheap scares, and the storytelling feels thoughtful rather than over-explained. Great job!!

Надзвичайно сильно сподобалась концепція того, що грати потрібно за сліпого персонажа і як це візуально відображено. Історія сама по собі гарна, але подача трохи рвана і все починаєш розуміти ближче до фіналу гри. Механіка того, що треба ховатися від містичної сутності - сподобалася перші два рази, але далі вона швидше дратувала.

Что же, не могу припомнить, чтоб мое мнение об игре менялось на 180 градусов примерно в середине прохождения именно в более-менее положительную сторону. По крайней мере, на положительный обзор в стиме. Ну, потому что начинается Perception с кучи проблем типичной ходилки-пугалки - и постоянная необходимость кликать, чтобы увидеть, куда ты прешь лее, а от мигания "маячка" есть возможность отхватить либо головную боль, либо приступ эпилепсии; и скримеры во все наушники, которыми должны были умереть в 2012 году, и какой-то невнятный сюжет, за которым не успеваешь следить, потому что ты, дура слепая, опять свернула не туда и надо возвращаться искать снова путь.

Собственно, вздыхая и закатывая глаза, я проходила игру до ночи, пока родные не улеглись спать.

И тут, как говорится, началась ночная смена на кирпичном заводе.

Игра буквально расцветает и со второй главы и именно в темноте и одиночестве. Скримеры становятся... не тише, не меньше по количеству, а элегантнее, что ли. Было много моментов, когда ты в темноте чувствуешь себя в безопасности, "подсвечиваешь" себе эхолокацией и прямо перед тобой тихо возникает что-нибудь неприятненькое. Очком, конечно, проволоку не перекусишь, но вздрогнуть можно. Собственно, даже сюжет ты начинаешь воспринимать получше, потому что игра становится легче (на самом деле, несмотря на то, что в каждую главу план дома меняется) да и сосредотачиваться приходиться, чтобы не заблудиться. История плавно разворачивается в такую смесь Ведьмы из Блэр и семейной трагедии, а меня хлебом не корми, дай сюжетик про траблы сквозь поколения послушать (люблю тебя, Layers of Fear и иже с ними).

НЕБОЛЬШОЙ СЮЖЕТНЫЙ СПОЙЛЕР!

[spoiler] Если вы мне разрешите побубнить по сюжету, то ну не должны подобные истории заканчиваться ленивым хэппи эндом, ну. Вы бы еще зрение вернули героине бонусом. Тьфу. Учить вас и учить, семейные трагедии хорошим заканчиваться не должны!.. [/spoiler]

В общем, небольшую пугалку взять на ночь себе поиграть можно, особенно за смешную цену, за которую ее бедную отдают на распродажах. Не шедевр ни в коем разе, но за свою стоимость и небольшую длительность вполне себе сойдет по настроению. По крайней мере, дать ей шанс точно стоить, глядишь и зацепит.

P.S Не мучайте себя и не проходите на хардкоре, я знаю, вы мужики, яйца вам не чтоб яичницу делать, но попоболь того стоить не будет. Да, даже на ачивку. Да, я говорю это ТЕБЕ.

If you've seen Daredevil (Ben Affleck or Charlie Cox, take your pick), then you surely knew Matt Murdock. He uses his enhanced hearing, which is often described as a "radar sense" to perceive his surroundings, which functions similarly to echolocation. While this ability allows him to create a 360-degree mental map of inanimate objects through sound, he primarily uses a combination of sounds like heartbeats and breathing to track living beings in a fight. This more nuanced approach allows for more dynamic combat scenarios in the show or the movie.

This game is just like that. But no combat action, just the echolocation.

The protagonist named Cassie Thornton is a blind woman, who perceives the world using echolocation. She must use her unique skill to explore a large mansion in Gloucester, Massachusetts and uncover its dark secrets.

There are no physical weapons to defend yourself; only sound and wit. When alerted, Cassie must simply run, hide and hope you can outsmart the entities.

This is quite a unique horror game unlike many that mostly similar and rely too much on cheap jumpscares. Nothing like that. It's a fresh take of a new kind of gameplay. Similar to other games like Stifled, BlindSide, Muffled Warfare, Pulse, Blind.

Este juego es de esos pocos títulos que, con el tiempo, seguí recordando por su nombre, aunque no recordaba bien la historia. Decidí darle una oportunidad y no me ha desagrado para nada. No es un juego que calificaría como una hidden gem, pero si buscas probar un juego de terror algo fuera de lo común, con una jugabilidad diferente, está aceptable

Lo que realmente destaca es la mecánica de controlar a una mujer ciega que puede "ver" mediante la ecolocalización. Es una idea innovadora que le da un toque único al juego. Sin embargo, el juego es relativamente corto (los últimos capítulos son muy fugaces), y la falta de variedad de enemigos y actividades lo hace algo limitado.

No estoy completamente seguro de si recomendarlo o no, pero dejo este pequeño análisis de un juego al que le tenía algo de cariño. Si a alguien le interesa un título que se salga un poco de lo común y busque algo más de nicho, está bien para probar.

Perception ist ein Indie-Horror-Game von dem Entwickler The Deep End Games, welches vor allem durch seine Protagonisten hervor sticht.
Die Hauptfigur des Spiels heißt Cassie und sie ist blind. Allerdings, nur weil sie nichts sehen kann, bedeutet dies nichts, dass Cassie hilf- und orientierungslos ist. Durch Umgebungsgeräusche und ihren Blindenstock hat sie gelernt ihre Umwelt zu „sehen“. Diese Spielmechanik machen Peception allein zu einem interessanten Konzept.

Cassie’s Story handelt von ihre Suche nach Antworten, warum in ihren Alpträumen immer wieder ein bestimmtes Haus auftaucht und welche Verbindung sie zu diesem Ort hat. Dabei lernt sie nicht nur die Geschichten der Vorbesitzer des Hauses kennen, sondern auch einiges über sich selbst und ihre wiederkehrenden Träume.

Perception spielt sich selbst eher wie ein narrativer Thriller. Die Kernmechanik des Spiels bildet der Gehstock mit dem man seine Umgebung wie bei einer Art Echolot sieht. Ansonsten muss man mit bestimmten Gegenständen interagieren oder einen bestimmten Punkt im Haus finden, um weiter vor ran zu kommen.

Die Grafik von Perception ist ein sehr spezieller visueller Stil, der extra auf das Spiel abgestimmt ist. Da man seine Umgebung nur mit Hilfe des „Echolots“ sieht, stellen sich immer nur die Konturen und Umrisse der Umgebung dar. Ansonsten besteht die Grafik hauptsächlich aus den Farben Schwarz, Blau, Rot und Grün.

Perception ist eine Horrorerfahrung die aufgrund ihres ungewöhnlichen Setups und Gameplay lange im Gedächtnis bleiben wird. Allerdings wirkt die Atmosphäre eher beunruhigend als geradezu furchterregend.

Through ambient sounds and her white cane, she has learned to ‘see’ her surroundings. This game mechanic alone makes Perception an interesting concept.

Cassie's story is about her search for answers as to why a certain house keeps appearing in her nightmares and what connection she has to this place. In the process, she not only learns the stories of the house's previous owners, but also a lot about herself and her recurring dreams.

Perception is more of a narrative thriller. The core mechanic of the game is the cane, which allows you to see your surroundings as if using a type of echolocation. Otherwise, you have to interact with certain objects or find a specific point in the house in order to progress.

The graphics in Perception have a very special visual style that is tailored specifically to the game. Since you can only see your surroundings with the help of the ‘echo’, only the contours and outlines of the environment are visible. Otherwise, the graphics consist mainly of the colours black, blue, red and green.

Perception is a horror experience that will remain in your memory for a long time due to its unusual setup and gameplay. However, the atmosphere is more unsettling than downright terrifying.

[i]Perception[/i] delivers a unique narrative horror experience that is fully dedicated to its creative premise, following it through its tensely atmospheric highs but occasionally suffering its monotonous lows.

Set in a haunted house, you play as Cassie who's blind and must use echolocation to navigate her surroundings, but the very sounds that guide her also what attracts the haunting enemy's attention. It's a great premise and naturally leads to plenty of frightening moments but it has its limitations, such as when you're waiting out the danger period from making too much noise for the nth time.

What propels you through is the narrative and voice-acting, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Neither too cheesy nor hiking up too high the horror trope tree, the on-going story adds a sustained tension throughout rather than relying on just the occasional jump scares. It's only the occasional staged scenarios I found that it can grind a bit for me.

Generally though for all its minor faults, it's still a fairly fine game so if the premise genuinely draws your curiosity I can recommend giving it a try.

The concept is cool but the game itself is a bit disappointing: you end up wandering in the house without a map or a clue about the next goal. You open doors, find random items, and sometimes for no reason a closed door becomes interactive and you can progress. It's sad because I really like the 'cat & mouse' gameplay with the ghost.

Lest euch nicht das Negative durch!
Ich habe dieses Spiel Jahre nicht angefasst einfach weil ich die Mechanik des nicht sehend unangenehm empfunden hatte. Doch als ich sah das NUR 20% aller Spieler Kapitel 4 Abgeschlossen habe wusste ich, wenige haben das Game auch nur durch gespielt. Es hat wirklich unangenehme Elemente, und der Story Modus ist wohl die sicherste Idee das Game zu spielen ohne zu viele Jumpscares! Darum, ich kann es nur empfehlen wenn ihr hinein schaut, ja ihr müsst oft die Leertaste drücken aber könnt im Grunde auch "blind" das Game weiter machen.

Gözlerim karanlığa açıldı. Gördüğüm hiçbir şey yoktu… ama duyduğum her şey vardı. Bastonumu yere vurdum; çıtırtılar, yankılar ve kırık dökük bir evin ruhu, etrafımı çizdi adeta. Bu benim ilk Perception deneyimimdi – ve 3 saat boyunca koltuğumdan kalkamadım.

Cassie adında kör bir kadını oynuyorum. Onun dünyasında ışık yok, renk yok. Ama ses var. Ve ses, her şey. Oyun, birinci şahıs perspektifiyle beni onun zihnine ve algısına kilitliyor. Duyduğum her adım, her nefes, her kapı gıcırtısı, mekânın şeklini ortaya çıkarıyor. Bu eko-lokasyon sistemiyle ilerlerken her baston vuruşum bir risk. Çünkü "o" beni duyabilir. Presence adı verilen görünmeyen bir varlık, sessizliği bozduğum her an biraz daha yaklaşıyor.

Oynanış mekanikleri son derece sade ama etkileyici: bastonla ortamı taramak, sesli ipuçlarını takip etmek, nesneleri dinlemek ve mekânda yolumu bulmak. My eyes opened to darkness. I saw nothing... but I heard everything. I tapped my cane on the floor; the creaks, echoes, and the soul of a decaying house drew themselves around me. This was my first Perception experience – and I couldn’t get up from my seat for 3 hours.

I play as a blind woman named Cassie. In her world, there’s no light, no color. But there is sound. And sound is everything. The game, using a first-person perspective, locks me into her mind and perception. Every step, every breath, every creaking door reveals the shape of the space around me. With this echolocation system, every tap of my cane is a risk. Because “it” might hear me. A mysterious entity called The Presence draws closer with every sound I make.

The gameplay mechanics are simple yet impactful: scanning the environment with your cane, following audio clues, listening to objects, and finding your way. What I liked the most was that, unlike classic horror games, there’s no fighting the enemy. You have to run, hide, and stay quiet. That’s exactly where the fear comes from.

Perception’s greatest strength is placing a blind character at the heart of its narrative and building fear not through light, not through darkness, but through sound. It fosters empathy and offers an experience I’ve never had before. Whispers echoing through the house, abandoned belongings, ghosts of the past… all slowly weave together a broken story.

Throughout my three-hour experience, even though the game progresses linearly, its atmosphere and storytelling completely pulled me in. Yes, the puzzles weren’t difficult, but this game doesn’t test your intellect — it tests your awareness, patience, and courage.

To see the world through the eyes of a blind woman… no — to hear it. That’s what this game let me experience.

A atmosfera é tensa, o design de som é impecável e a narrativa prende desde o início. A mecânica de "ver com o som" oferece uma experiência realmente imersiva e diferente, trazendo um tipo de suspense psicológico que se destaca entre outros jogos do gênero.

Porém, apesar dos pontos positivos, encontrei um bug grave fora da casa principal: ao explorar o mapa, Cassie caiu em uma área mal delimitada e foi lançada no “infinito”, o que impossibilitou qualquer ação além de reiniciar o jogo. Infelizmente, isso me fez perder todo o progresso até ali, o que foi bem frustrante.

Ainda assim, Perception vale a experiência pela originalidade e pela atmosfera. Só seria importante que os desenvolvedores revisassem melhor os limites do mapa para evitar esse tipo de falha crítica.

El pulgar arriba va a sonar contradictorio pero viendo varias reseñas luego de terminar el juego note que a muchos de los demás pulgares arriba también les resulta difícil asumir la responsabilidad de recomendarlo.

La mecánica de ecolocalizacion es el principal pretexto por el cual debe de ser jugado, no todos los días uno se pone en los zapatos de una cieguita. La atmósfera se presta a vivir una aventura spooky pero no lo suficientemente opresiva. Pero todo se empieza a venir abajo al notar la falta de mecánicas adicionales, enemigos variados o siquiera una forma orgánica de conectar las aventuras de la muchacha en el lugar donde queda atrapada. Quedara como un recuerdo agridulce pero tampoco muy colmado de arrepentimiento.

It reminds me of a similar game, dark echo or beyond eyes, something about using sound to navigate the environment is pretty exciting. It was the coolest mechanic i've seen, but it didn't necessarily live up to that, it's still nice, and the fact that the one thing that can kill you plays as if it's also blind is very nice, both of you use sound to navigate, and sometimes, it could be sitting next to you, or hear you from across the hallway.

Весьма необычная игра с интересной задумкой. Правда будь в стиме такая возможность, то поставил бы среднию оценку, но что имеем, то имеем. В целом я бы не назвал эту игру хоррорм, скорее мистический симулятор ходьбы, с необычным визуалом из-за особенности главной героини. Слышал, что многим не понравилось визуальное оформление так называемой "эхолокации", но мне в целом было прикольно. Многие пишут о некой "нереалистичности", что игра про слепого персонажа была бы просто чёрной и "нетакой", но здесь я просто скажу, что мы играем в ИГРУ, а не смотрим доккументалку о социальных трудностях. Это как утверждать, что все почти все шутеры плохие, так как пероснаж не погибает от одного попадание

В целом, если обощить:
Плюсы (+):
1. Необычный визуальный стиль и цветовая палитра
2. Интересная идея
3. Сюжет. Средний, без каких-то "ВАУ-эффектов", но пойдёт

Но а теперь к минусам (-):
1. Кривая локализация. Шрифт очень огромный, инодга субтитров и вовсе нет. Монологи могут то запускаться, то нет
2. Различные баги и граффические аномалии, такие как непонятные тени, то невидимый источник звука (прям который даёт видимость от "эхолокации" в том месте, где ничего нет
3. Плоха система сохранений. Возможность ручного сохранения отсутствует полностью. Есть только автосохранения, которые происходят не так то часто. Вместе с одним багом, который не давал мне открыть одну дверь мне пришлось перезаходить в игру. Загрузившись я понял, что меня откинуло где-то на 10-15 минут назад
4. Игра слишком "прямая". Игра хочет, чтобы ты пользовался возможностью показывать нужный тебе предмет или дверь через весь дом, дабы ты туда шёл. Так как я люблю исследовать локацию, то часто сходил с маршрута, из-за чего (как я понимаю) находил записки, которые должен был найти позже, из-за чего повествование было немного рваным. А в одном случае и вовсе игра сломалась, так что пришлось перезаходить. Как я понимаю можно идти ровно по сюжету и игра сама проведёт тебя по всем местам в доме
5. Монстра почти не встретил. Может я не так часто шумел, но монстр появился всего 1-2 раза за всю игру. Один из этих разов я сам его вызвал, хоть чтобы увидеть. Вы не представляете как долго я стучал тростью, чтобы он наконец ко мне пришёл

Итог: Если у вас есть деньги и вы думаете, чем можно занять вечерок или два, то можете взять эту игру. Как игра на один раз, вполне пойдёт

Angsterfüllend blind zu sein. In bester Daredevil Manier spielt man hier eine blinde Frau die ihre Vergangenheit aufarbeitet. Ist ziemlich unique und für Einsteiger ins Horror-Genre gut geeignet. Dennoch muss ich sagen das zum Ende hin der Effekt der Blindheit und der Spielmechanik anstrengend fürs Auge war. Umso mehr habe ich aber dadurch auch nochmal mehr Respekt vor Menschen mit Sehbeeinträchtigung/behinderung. Aber guter kurzer Walking Sim mit deutlich zuvielen Achievments.

I want to love this game but after playing the first couple chapters and putting it down I'm sad to say it wasn't for me. I love the main mechanic of navigating a space via echolocation, turning the main character's disability into a novel and enthralling gameplay experience. The voice acting is phenomenal and the story almost hooked me.

Unfortunately it falls down quite a bit in execution. The first bit of the game feels entirely too easy and gives you too much warning for when you're in danger and not - and then later on, quietly drops that in favor of just making the monster appear at particular points in the story. The game autosaves, but far too infrequently, so if one of those catches you off guard you might be retracing your steps for quite a while. It also seems weird that tapping my cane is an issue but radios can start blasting, explosions can occur, all that without the monster taking notice. It's possible that's explained later but I'm not sticking it out til then.

Worth noting that the settings menu is not navigable on controller and I had a lot of issues getting the game run on Steam Deck.

Overall this was cool to try but missed more than it hit for me. Still definitely interested in future games from these devs, there's a lot of talent on display that I think could be refined into a better game.

This game makes for a unique and interesting bite-sized horror experience. The concept of playing through the perspective of a blind person in a haunted house is absolutely genius, and I think it was executed as well as it could have been. The mechanics are on point, limiting your vision enough to enhance the fear factor while still giving you the tools needed to navigate adequately. It CAN get confusing at times, but thankfully the game implements a waypoint system that points you to the very general direction of your next objective.

My critisims are few and minor:
-The voice acting of the protagonist, while very good and believable, is a bit distracting. I personally would have preffered to play as a silent or mostly silent protagonist, but that's very subjective.
-I also didn't like that we see the silhouette of the primary monster. For a game that prides itself in limiting visual information to the player, we get too good a look at the primary monster and it's really not that scary a design in my opinion. I think it would have been scarier if it were more like Bird Box in that we never actually see what it looks like and use sound design to imply when it finds you, except maybe in the end sequence.

Will it scare you?
There are a few jumpscares, but nothing like a goofy looking face jumping in front of you and yelling "ooga-booga!" The sound design is masterfully crafted to make the atmosphere feel realistic despite not seeing much of it. This all helps to immerse the player and make them feel like they're in danger. As mentioned before, I didn't find the actual design of the primary monster to be that scary, but the dread of knowing it's there is what really supplied the fear factor for me.

Overall, great game. 8/10, legitimately scary to those who can get immersed in the atmosphere. Due to the factor of limited vision, you probably won't want to play more than once, but it's absolutely worth a try.

I am blind and I would love to play this game. Unfortunately this game does not work with my screen reader.
I would not recommend this game for blind and visually impaired players as it's not accessible. I feel if the developers of this game should have made it more accessible to the blind as it has a blind character in it. I hope they will think about upgrading this game and make it more accessible and turn based and for it to work with screen readers. If the game the vail can be accessible why not perception. I hope more game developers will think about the disabled community and how to make their games more accessible. Its not just the sighted world who like to play video and PC games. Us blind folk like to play games too.

Una experiencia corta pero diferente, últimamente prefiero este tipo de juegos, cortos y narrativos. Ir descubriendo la historia de Cassandra, con sus sentidos, con el miedo y las revelaciones que va descubriendo. Hace años intenté jugarlo con mi otro ordenador y no me iba bien, pero esta vez no ha bajado de los 70 fps, faltaría más casi todo el juego estas a oscuras. Pretende ser un juego de terror, y se queda en walking simulator. Y no especialmente bueno, más bien flojo. Me recuerda a la experiencia fallida de Beyond Eyes, solo que mientras este parecía ser un juego más humilde, Perception trata de apuntar alto con un guión pretencioso cuajado de topicazos y que al final tiene más agujeros que los calcetines de mi padre. De verdad, que lo de las brujas de Salem está más sobado que el coño de una vieja. Los escasos sustos que uno se encuentra por el camino son más molestos que otra cosa, y la experiencia de juego en general es muy pobre, con puntos de guardado casi aleatorios, poca o ninguna consecuencia si "te pilla el toro" o linealidad encorsetada cuando al guión le conviene. Salvo que alguien quiera probarlo en una buena rebaja, no lo recomiendo en absoluto. Y eso que yo lo apoyé en Kickstarter. Qué decepción.

It took me about 5 hours to beat the game. I did not get all the achievements. I am not sure how I missed all of the achievements. I felt like I explored every each of the game. Clearly I missed a lot.

You see by tapping you cane, however, that alerts the presence in the house as well. It's different, however, it's enjoyable.

There is a profound honesty in what the night whispers to my eyes. It is the veil of darkness that allows me to behold truth, and to cultivate trust.

I remember once covering my sight, surrendering myself to a deliberate eclipse. I wandered through the garden, the tender blades of grass brushing against my skin with a playful, tickling grace. The sigh of the breeze, the distant and rhythmic echoes of neighbours at play — all reached me with a startling clarity. Understanding bloomed in the absence of light; and when I eventually stumbled and fell, I found not fear, but a gentle joy in the descent.
Ha, ha.

I recall the season when my mentor first invited me to see within the heart of darkness. I was taught to attune myself to sound, to let its resonance ripple through my body until the shape and place of things became perceptible. My guide would whisper their names, so that I might recognise — within the marriage of shadow and silence — the true essence of what stood before me.

In this way, I was granted sight within the shadows.

A single drop of water becomes a droplet of sound. Each footstep presses upon the world like a hand upon piano keys, allowing me to witness reality as a living performance. Darkness reveals its secrets: a heartbeat may speak of love, or pulse with fear — it depends, always, on the breath of the moment.

What I perceive here is the past.

How does one behold what has already been, when sight itself is unnecessary for witnessing a curse and the weight of memory? Rather than reading pages, I observe echoes — the reverberations of a haunted history.

Sound and scent guide me as I draw back the heavy curtains of reality. My senses offer a clearer, more luminous understanding, allowing me to gaze upon the essence of things, unburdened by masks or physical appearances. Some truths remain invisible to the eye — love, for instance. I recognise it not through words, but through action.

In this way, I encounter the world without prejudice. I cannot label a soul as tall or slight, hideous or fair. I simply witness the past in its unadorned form.

Within this sonorous reality — tangible, or perhaps perceived as the body itself sees — I uncover the lingering presence of the house’s past. I breathe in its atmosphere. With measured steps, I allow myself to sink deeper into the encompassing darkness.

The terror lies in witnessing what was once concealed, even if it belongs to another time: the ancestral lineage of this dwelling. Yet that terror also resides within me — in my hunger to uncover what truly transpired.

My presence ripples through the house’s sinister stillness. And yet, through the resonance of objects acting as vessels of memory, it reveals what lies buried here, yearning for rest.

Long ago, this place was known as Echo Bluff. It is not merely an estate, but a consciousness — one that guides my perception through the harrowing events that followed the fires of the Salem witch trials. To grasp the world through a body submerged in what the house chooses to reveal is to understand the captive spirits longing for their final slumber.

The house re-enacts the history of every soul who once called it home. My body becomes a living vessel, adapting to receive each fractured moment that forms its narrative. Guided by the dwelling itself, I am shown the cruel past that denies it peace — most notably, the fate of the first victim: Susannah.

A palpable malice lingers. Accusations, phantom screams, the violent repetition of tragedy — all awaken a visceral resonance within me. Through this, I learn to hear the echoes held within trinkets, and even within the entity known as The Presence that prowls these dark corridors. What I perceive through my body is the manifestation that has bound every voice to this precipice called Echo Bluff.

The body is only a fragment of the canvas upon which past suffering is repainted. Yet within the sanctuary of my soul, I am allowed to colour the names, the objects, the deeds — to preserve the memory of all that unfolded within these walls.

This form of sight allows me to refine the echoes that linger in every corner, until I can hear the heartbeat of past lives. A piano weeps a melancholy air, its keys dancing untouched. The house exhales like a battlefield. There exists a deep synchronicity between this place and my inner world: the house provides the voices and the context, but the capacity to render suffering belongs to me alone.

I become a translator of pain — of the inherited guilt that has passed unyielding from one generation to the next. This role binds me to the house, compelling me to witness how each dweller met their end. Through sound — a telephone’s shrill cry, the hollow laughter of dolls, the solitary lament of pianos — I begin to uncover the layered eras of tragedy, settled like dust upon the house’s soul.

They are all victims.

This truth takes shape in The Presence — a being denied rest by the primal rage of the house’s first inhabitant. It feeds on terror. Yet by refusing to surrender my spirit to fear, I glimpse what truly dwells beneath its shroud: something born at the margins of the world.

Fear, guilt, insecurity, regret — these were not born solely from individual mistakes, but from a society steeped in prejudice. It was this that nourished the creature. Brianna, abandoned as useless. Betty, confined within domestic cruelty, punished for failing to fulfil an imposed role. And then, there is me — believing myself separate from these threads, nearly forgetting that to ignore the victims is to perpetuate the curse.

Being without sight allows me to listen rather than judge; to pause without the distortion of prejudice. This guilt continues to flow through bloodlines. Yet if the first dweller were to see the truth — as the echoes eventually do — could Susannah confront what she has wrought and find repentance?

To burn the beast is to extinguish the hatred that first took root within her.

When I speak with Susannah, seeing not with my eyes but with my soul, I understand that she was deceived by an image forced upon her: the Devil’s bride. She was coerced into a role, just as those who followed her were. By believing the lie, she cursed the house.

It was an act born of fear, not malice. A performance, not her true being.

I once lived in this house. Now it is cleansed. The guilt dissolves. And the ancestors — their suffering finally redeemed — are permitted their rest.

Lo unico bueno que tiene este juego es el concepto (aclaro EL CONCEPTO, la jugabilidad es penosa) y una sola canción (que esta en el celular y nunca te explican abiertamente que podes usarlo).
La historia es un porro paraguayo que te pega un mal viaje, rebuscado y sin sentido.

2017 foi um ano bom para jogos de terror: tivemos little nightmares, prey, resident evil 7, o saudoso outlast 2 e um jogo indie, pequeno e corajoso que decidiu criar perception. Tendo como diferencial a proposta de um jogo de terror que coloca você na pele de uma personagem cega. Realmente bater de frente com grandes jogos já consagrados já era algo difícil, mas mesmo que perception não tenha brigado em pé de igualdade, ainda sim tem seu lugar no pódio pela ideia. Vou trazer mais detalhes abaixo.
Graficamente falando não é lá essas coisas não, a empresa foi esperta em manter algo na percepção de uma personagem cega não apenas pela "inovação", mas creio que estrategicamente era melhor também para não ocupar muito tempo com detalhamento de cenário. Não me levem a mal, o cenário é legal e bem feitinho, mas não posso avaliar muito bem a qualidade de texturas e outros fatores pelas limitações de gameplay da personagem. Posso dizer que o jogo cumpre seu papel de forma satisfatória e não faz feio, é como tirar um pouco acima da média para passar de ano, porém sem tirar nota máxima.
A trilha sonora é boa, nada de espetacular, pois ao passo que o som das batidas em diferentes materiais são bem feitas, outros sons deixam a desejar um pouco, como o som dos disparos realizados pelas bonecas mecanizadas, parecendo que retiraram de um filme de faroeste antigo. No geral, o som também cumpre seu papel, mas sem nada de excepcional.
A história é ok, com muitas pessoas falando que é ótima e designando muitos créditos a mesma, eu diria que a história é boazinha, mas também não se destaca muito, exceto na reta final, onde realmente o jogo dá uma melhorada e fica mais intenso. O início do jogo é bom, depois começa a ficar um pouco parado e depois engrena bem. Dizer que a história deste jogo é muito boa ou quase uma obra de arte é exagero, daqui a pouco só falta alguém dizer que é algo digno de Tolkien... No máximo a história é bacana, transmitindo uma mensagem legal no final da campanha, mas nada além disso. Se você considera perception como a décima arte, sugiro que revise seus conceitos meu jovem.
A gameplay é boa, onde podemos andar, correr, interagir com objetos, nos esconder e bater com a bengala. Como nossa personagem é cega, usamos a bengala para fazer barulho, emitindo ondas sonoras que revelam o cenário temporariamente em volta, é como se ela tivesse um sonar, semelhante ao demolidor. A mecânica, apesar de não ser uma ideia original ( dark echo já fazia isso), ainda sim é bacaninha e funciona bem.
As únicas coisas que não gostei foram os puzzles e o excesso de caminhadas e coisas para se coletar. Já não basta o exagero de caminhada que você tem que fazer, de coletáveis que você precisa ouvir e ainda precisa meter puzzles no meio da jogatina? achei bem desnecessário e chato.
Fora este detalhe final, o jogo é bacana, traz uns sustinhos e ainda por cima é algo legal para comprar em promoção na steam. Porém eu recomendo se estiver custando, no máximo uns R$ 5,00. Não desvalorizo o trabalho dos desenvolvedores, mas o jogo é bem curto, cheio de coisas para encher linguiça e não vale por mais do que isso.

TL;DR Halfway decent story and premise makes for a decent play but consider additional issues.

I got this game a long time ago because it was for a class on the subgenre of horror. Gave up brcause of fear and a deadline and watched a playthrough. I enjoyed the story enough that I wished to play it myself and get all the details.

Now have finally gotten around to playing it. It's pretty ok. I enjoy the story plenty and the mechanics of the game is pretty interesting. But if you're the type that wants all the achievements, maybe not for you. There seems to be some bug issues with a couple achievements, and since the game was patched the touchstone items needed for certain achievements are now in different locations or possibly removed.

I would say the biggest down side is the fact it doesnt allow you to manually save. It's very frustrating when you are just missing one touchstone in a chapter, trigger the next chapter, but can't go back for that last item. The game also tends to be laggy, but I dunno if that's due to the game itself or my less than perfect laptop running it.

Average at its core, with much of the standard mechanics that you have come to expect in these types of games - such as being a walking sim, hiding away from a monster, the story being told through some disjointed memories etc - none of these are necessarily a negative as they don't overstay their welcome and the game can be completed in one sitting.

The echolocation system brings in a good amount of originality and makes Perception worth a playthrough, both in terms of how well it's represented graphically and how the player utilises it

Es complicado.
Por un lado la mecánica de la ecolocalización es increíble, provoca una atmosfera muy opresora y tensa, añadiendo también paranoia de si lo que uno escucha en algunos lados es parte del escenario o algo mas peligroso. Además el manejo de los colores para indicar el peligro esta muy bien usado. Los escenarios, en especial la mansion, son detallados y con muy buen acabado.

Por el otro es... algo aburrido. Los enemigos se pueden evitar fácilmente escondiéndose y esperando a que desaparezcan, lo cual es repetitivo y meh. A pesar de la mecánica principal, casi todos los sustos son solo visibles (la tipica de figuras que aparecen y se van al toque). El juego te obliga a pararte y escuchar monólogos para los objetos importantes, algo molesto cuando pasa muy seguido. Y la historia esta bien, pero en varios momentos termina siendo obvio por donde va y las conclusiones no tienen tanto impacto.

Esta bastante bien, y como es corto no se vuelve engorroso. Solo por la atmósfera (y si se lo juega en la dificultad mas baja como un walking simulator) lo recomendaría.

Finally got around to experiencing this spooky adventure.
It had an interesting concept of of being in the shoes of a disabled character who is blind, really made it terrifying when you could only rely on noise.
The only negative was it wasn't without some glitches that hampered my experience a little bit at the time and had to either find workarounds or restart the game.
Aside from that, it had a good story and some parts really made me sweat with fear.
i give it a 8/10 which i think is generous considering the problems i had.

First I just wanted to say that Perception deserves respect. I hope that the folks sitting down with this game realize that AAA studios would -never- take the financial risk to make something like this. Indie developers are the ones trying new things and really exploring what a game can be, and they should be lauded for that. Rather you like the game or not I'd encourage anyone reading this to just be kind, it's not that hard.

Okay, now that I've climbed back down off my soapbox, some feedback-ish words about the game itself:

I didn't dislike Perception during my short play time and it will likely be a great experience for other players. I got through the intro, soaked up the vibes outside of the house, listened to a weird number of someone else's messages, and then started exploring the house. Unfortunately that's where I kind of fell off it for several reasons: The first thing, and I don't mean this as an indictment of the game's quality in any way, is simply the kind of game it is. I get mechanically how the game will play, and I understand how the story is being told, and it's just not for me. I know that characters with memory holes lead to later revelations, and I can see that the exploration of the character's trauma will be a theme. I've just kind of played that game enough times, nothing personal. The other part is possibly less subjective? But I'll leave that up to the reader. It's really hard to explain, but there's something really game feeling about the (yes I hear myself) game that really kills it for me. It has something to do with how the player controls and interacts with the world, almost like they're gliding over the environment, and I think the tap mechanic itself could have used a bit more in its implementation. The whole play experience feels kind of like you're operating an RC car that can send out a pulse rather than a human avatar tapping a mobility cane around. I found myself aiming at the floor a lot (though I later realized I didn't really need to) which felt weird. I almost would have preferred a slightly slower movement speed with two buttons to swing left or right as you walk, reserving LMB for tapping on things directly. I also think this is one of those games where, for the sake of immersion, I would have preferred to actually have a visible body and cane as part of the player character, if only to better understand the space you actually inhabit. I also would have liked to have seen a bit more of the early creepy bits be much more obscured, and I thought it may have needed a little more runway to set up the over-all creep factor Anyway, sorry to backseat develop there for a minute, I just wanted to be exhaustive in my feedback.
I think that visually Perception is -incredibly- interesting and the idea behind it is something special. Being limited visually in a horror game is, in fact, spooky as all hell. I'd love to see another game from this developer, because rather I like it or not it's a super cool premise presented in a totally unique way. Even if it wasn't for me, this really is a great game.

虽然这个世界上到处都是苦难，但也充满了战胜苦难的力量。
设定比较新颖，女主通过自己如蝙蝠一般的回声定位系统来探路，虽然看起来只是把传统意义上的手电筒、摄影机换成了手杖，但是实际玩起来感受还是不同的，考验瞬时记忆力和空间想象能力。而且这个设定估计可以在建模方面省下一大笔，还完全不用很担心物品的上色问题，一举多得。
缺点在于流程短且过于单一，主角沉浸在找钥匙开门和开门找钥匙的俗套循环中；细节有些地方可能不太合理，譬如开局时主角身为盲人双手开门，我模仿了一下动作，这样最稳妥的放手杖只能是夹在左臂腋下或者叼在嘴里了；而且鬼怪的智商着实令人着急，以至于在摸清躲藏点位置后完全可以化身成摇滚乐队鼓手给鬼来点小小的重金属震撼。
总体来看我玩完本作后有着一种制作组用手里仅有的一点资金来制作出一个最优解的感觉，这样想的话机翻的汉化也能够接受了。

This beautifully crafted horror game will always have you on your toes and on the edge of your seat as you go through this story. This thrilling game will have your skin goose bumped and your mind going everywhere as you try to put the story together and how awfully twisted it really is! i would highly recommend this horror game to the horror junkies out there who love a great back ground story a very careful put together main character and awesome graphics and scares!

O jogo tem uma mecânica muito interessante onde vc controla uma cega que enxerga através de som. A mecânica no início é interessante, mas depois fica extremamente cansativa.
A história eu achei meio sem graça. Tem tradução em português, mas ela buga direto, as vezes não aparece e as vezes fica em Alemão.
Quando houver uma promoção acho que vale a pena conferir pra tirar suas próprias conclusões, mas pra mim não valeu a pena.

Несмотря на большое обилие положительных отзывов, я не могу заставить себя поставить лайк. Когда мне что-то не нравится, я всегда говорю об этом прямо и это касается Perception.

В свое время она привлекла меня необычным геймплеем и заманчивым описанием. Вы знаете как я люблю атмосферные бродилки с красивым визуалом и интересной историей. Но все получилось по-другому. Игра сразу встретила меня проблемами с запуском, которые вылечились не сразу. Не помню в чем была соль, но оно все-таки запустилось. И наверное зря, потому что уже с первых минут моим глазам не понравилось то что они увидели. Синеватая рябь в абсолютной тьме заставила их немного поболеть, пока они не привыкли к этому. Я играл на "сложном" режиме с монстриками, поэтому периодически приходилось прятаться. Особой хоррорности это не дало, скорее оттягивало время. Вообще наверное самой яркой эмоцией от прохождения была скука. Видеть перед глазами темноту и синюю рябь в качестве визуала на протяжении 3 часов, чет такое. Сюжет я тоже не особо понял. Сначала мы пришли в особняк, потом попали в какое-то прошлое, потом во времена второй мировой и потом что-то произошло и игра кончилась. Сложно воспринимать и вдумываться в сюжет, когда игра не нравится.

В итоге эта игра чистая вкусовщина. Я поставил ей дизлайк не для того чтобы ее хейтить, мне просто не понравилось. Я могу понять людей, которые хвалят эту игру, ведь в ней действительно есть необычные фишки и своя "атмосфера". Жаль что я не смог тоже к ней приобщиться. Касаемо технической составляющей, то игра более-менее стабильна, с редкими подгрузками и небольшими просадками. Проходится быстро, на распродажах стоит около 200 рубасиков. Если вы любите игры с экспериментальным геймплеем и готовы попробовать для себя что-то необычное - то берите смело. Если вы такой же визуал как я, которому важна картинка и геймплейная составляющая - то лучше глянуть на ютубе.

TL:DR: Not great not terrible. Probably not worth full price, get it on sale.

PROS:

-Unique playstyle.
Don't think I ever seen a game where you play as a blind person using echolocation like a bat so thats neat.

-Voice acting.
Might be just me but i really liked the monologues specifically.

CONS:

-It's really short.
I fooled around too much and afk'd but pretty sure the whole game can be finished in around 90 minutes without even rushing.

-It's not scary whatsoever.
Don't think I ever got a good scare out of it once. There is no real danger. The presence doesn't come unless you purposely spam your cane. And dolls were annoying more than anything.

-Gets tedious after a while.
It's a walking sim.

CONCLUSION

Not great not terrible.

Meccaniche di gioco veramente interessanti e rare da vedere. La storia anche appassionante.
Gli intrighi qualche volta non sono molto chiari ma nella modalità storia, hai tempo e modo di capirlo.

Je n'irai pas jusqu'à dire qu'il est mauvais! non, certainement pas! plutôt innovant je dirais,en effet vous êtes plongés dans le noir puisque la protagoniste est aveugle, en bref, il faut aimer le genre. Alors, je vais dire que c'est pas mal du tout mais ne vous attendez pas au grand frisson mais à un jeu de cache cache pour ma part, de 5 heures.
