If David Lynch made Firewatch.
Really boring, wasn't scary at all.
I liked this. The narrative is a bit of a web that takes some time to unweave, and there are some things that go completely unanswered, but there's enough there for one to speculate on what's going on in the world of this game. It's a short experience, each of my playthroughs only took about 45 minutes, but they have to be completed in one sitting, which I can understand is a turn-off for some. The most controversial aspect of this game seems to be the driving sections. I didn't mind the downtime, but players looking for constant action may find the combined 8 minutes of empty road and a (mostly) bare car interior boring. I think if you only ran through this game once, you'd find it unsatisfying. It wasn't until my 3rd playthrough that I actually understood a little bit more of what was going on. The PS1 aesthetic continues to reign supreme, and this game did it much earlier than some other modern classics. The very slight body horror in this game is definitely helped by the ambiguity of its artstyle.
This game definitely isn't for everyone; but as someone who usually isn't into walking simulators, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. For $6, I'd consider the game worth it, however your mileage may vary.
I replay this game every few years. It's so short, but I love the atmosphere.
Walking simulators can be fun but when over half of your game has nothing engaging going on and you're still forced to play it to progress it becomes a chore. The screenshots for the game suggest you're only seeing bits and pieces of a larger game but it's basically the entire thing

Very short story with surrealistic horror, resembling David Lynch in some way. Made with style, but it's bad that the plot ends with a cliffhanger and some long fragments without anything happening.

이 게임이 의도하는 숨겨진 무언가가 있는거같은데 그 숨겨진 무언가를 찾다가 게임이 지루해서 끄게 됌
인내심이 있거나 스토리를 풀어나가는걸 좋아하는사람한테는 꽤 살만한 게임인거 같음

I can enjoy a walking simulator from time to time. A driving simulator occasionally punctuated by walking simulator segments is where I draw the line, I suppose. Snark aside, there's so little to engage with in this game that I have no desire to replay it (and its extended "do nothing" segments) just to see how different dialogue options or walking routes affect the story. There isn't enough here,

Но как единый проект, эта игра не работает. По факту, перед нами невнятный сюжет, который даже спустя 2 прохождения едва понятен (а можно ли вообще его понять, если нам дают крайне мало информации о том, что вообще вокруг нас происходит?), без какого-либо геймплея, т.к. у нас опять симулятор ходьбы с 3 видами взаимодействия: общаться с NPC, ехать на машине по прямой дороге без какого-либо интерактива, выстрелить 1 раз в персонажа... И всё.
Честно говоря, покупайте "Paratopic", только если хотите иметь в своей коллекции игру со 100% достижениями (проходится она дважды за 2 ч). В иных случаях - не тратьте своё время на данное творение.

I was left confused but then it was the "what just happened?" that made me piece together 'a' narrative of what I think is happening in this world. That means others will have completely different. Excited to rabbit hole this or join whatever secret branch of gov.
The first few minutes were promising, but this has to be the most excrutiatingly boring nothing burger I have ever laid eyes upon.

From the gameplay to the lore, this game is for casual and hardcore gamers alike. The lore is extremely rich and deep and it will keep you invested. I recommend this to anyone.

confounding atmospheric adventure that switches location, time, and even perspective the second youre even remotely comfortable with the situation. even long after playing it, it lingers in my mind and i have constant questions about the full picture. abstract and vivid at the same time.
You have to be in the right headspace. I was, so I enjoyed my time.

It's basically a 40 minute playable abstract movie. I enjoyed my time with it.

I może pojawić się myśl iż jest to zabieg celowy, nadający klimat. W moim odczuciu jednak tak nie jest. Gra niesie za sobą ładną ścieżkę dźwiękową i wizualną, ale na tym bym poprzestał. Te momenty "wydłużania" gry sprawiały że po prostu odechciewało mi się grać, przejścia między scenami są zrobione po macoszemu, po prostu ucinana scena -> lecimy dalej. Zdecydowanie wiele półek niżej niż gry od critical reflexu. Po jej przejściu jestem w y n u d z o n y.

まず、画面から漂う「呪われたゲーム」のような空気が凄まじい。 意図的に解像度を落としたジャギジャギのグラフィックと、緑や茶色に濁った色調は、見ているだけで精神を不安定にさせる。BGMもメロディではなく、重低音や不協和音が鳴り響き、プレイヤーの平衡感覚を狂わせてくる。
ゲームプレイの大半は「夜のドライブ」や「森の散策」といった静かなパートが占めるが、不意に場面がカットされ、次の瞬間には別の場所にいるという唐突な編集（ジャンプカット）が多用される。この「時間の欠落」が、自分が今どこで何をしているのか分からないという根源的な恐怖を煽る。 ホラーゲームでありながら、怪物に追いかけられる恐怖ではなく、「この世界の理（ことわり）がおかしい」という違和感が肌にまとわりつく、唯一無二の体験だ。

Paratopic est un jeu très court, environ une heure, que l'on doit terminer d'une traite et dans lequel on ne comprend rien. C'est même plus du walking simulator horrifique à ce stade mais plutôt une sorte d'expérience qui se veut dérangeante ou au moins déroutante. Imaginez que Lynch et Cronenberg décident de faire un jeu, ça pourrait très bien être celui-là. Atmosphère pesante comme sorti d'un rêve fiévreux. L'étrange étrangeté à un niveau paroxysmique. Les personnages parlent un anglais déformé pour donner un effet Twin Peaks. Peu de contexte, beaucoup d'ellipses, de bons en avant et en arrières sur la chronologie. On se fait balader de scènes en scènes tout du long sans trop pouvoir contrôler quoi que ce soit. Le jeu joue beaucoup sur les temps morts : l'attente d'un ascenseur pendant plusieurs minutes, ou encore ces phases en voitures sous fond de soleil couchant qui s'étirent en longueur. Ça pose l'ambiance mais laisse un arrière-goût de remplissage un peu facile dans un jeu déjà bien court.
Le scénario ne pouvait pas être plus cryptique. Paratopic est une grande énigme à résoudre (pour ceux qui en ont la motivation). On est commandé de faire de la contrebande de VHS de l'autre côté de la frontière et il se passe des trucs chelou. On va dans des endroits et on parle avec des gens sans trop savoir pourquoi. Conspiration ? Aliens ? Ce qui est sûr c'est que les dévs adorent Vidéodrome (je les comprend).
Je reste déçu que à part quelques dialogues absolument rien de ne change d'une partie à l'autre. Aucune action du joueur n'a d'incidence sur les évènement, ce qui donne assez peu envie de relancer une partie. Hormis les succès qui sont soit des secrets à découvrir, soit quelques actions ou interactions complémentaires, rien d'autre à se mettre sous la dent, hormis s'investir à fond dans la résolution du mystère. Je suis sûr que Paratopic a un propos intéressant qui est sûrement intelligemment amené (j'ai rien creusé encore), mais en tant que jeu-vidéo il reste un peu trop faiblard à mon goût. J'aurais aimé pouvoir refaire certaines scènes pour découvrir de nouveaux points de vues. Après deux parties j'ai l'impression d'avoir fait le tour de toutes les possibilités.
Une expérience intéressante pour ceux qui aiment se plonger dans ce genre d'ambiance bizarre, très difficile à recommander pour les autres qui sont peu ou pas dans ce délire là.

I had high hopes, seeing this game make rounds. I finally got around it and was way shorter than expected and not much gets revealed. There is enough here to start a story but it feels like a demo or a competency test.
I think it needs more or everything.

Surreal, vague, short. I liked it, but it takes all of 90 minutes to beat it twice and get all the achievements if you really want to "experience all the content" it has to offer. Get it on sale for $2-3 bucks.
El juego super incomodo... pero de una buena manera... no hay jumpscares directamente ni nada así, es algo corto y es principalmente ambiental, hay que leer bastante y solo está en inglés y japones, pero si eso no es un problema y hay una buena oferta entonces adelante... 📼/10
J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé jouer avec mes amis qui regardaient en stream discord. On a bien théorisé. Même après une deuxième partie, j'ai encore pleins de questions. Le jeu mérite qu'on se pose des questions et qu'on s'intéresse à ce qui se passe, même si trouver des réponses est pas évident. Faut essayer de comprendre et y rejouer au moins une seconde fois. L'ambiance est très réussie vraiment, un gros kiff. J'adore, visuellement et l'ambiance sonore marche super bien aussi
A faux retro walking simulator with a nightmare logic plot. Actually had me thinking hard about just what was going on both in the story and the world at large from context clues in the narrative and environment. A play through only takes anywhere between twenty five to forty minutes depending on how much time you spend poking about.
If vibes are important for you in a game, and you like your vibes paranoid and oppressive, check this out.
It was... unique to say the least. I am interested in seeing the remix version that's coming soon.

A strange game too
This game wasn't all that great, story wasn't anything crazy and it was easy to follow even with all the cuts from the different people in the game, the thing that irked me was the unnecessary driving sequences in the game that made the game last longer than it should've. Not worth the price!!
possibly the one game that most accurately recreates what dreams feel like. not in a fancy bubbly colorful way, but in a very real human experiential way where the dream is in a modern, weird realistic setting

This game's premise was interesting, at first. Truth be told it lost me at testing my patience on how long the driving scenes were. I think for its time, 2018, this type of retro recreation was pretty cool and complex. However, where there's only a few unsettling dynamics of the game- it's EXTREMELY short and feels like there's not enough content for me to truly engage in. Need to see this supposed sequel they teased about ages ago and haven't done anything with since.

This game is like one of those dreams I get when I fall asleep with a 38°C fever. it's surreal and the story is super confusing but I don't think you're supposed to fully get it anyway. I really liked it, just wish it was longer than an hour.
Parascopic is a great game to play through if you like a short horror experience, the scares are well built up and there aren't too many so the game feels like a story instead of a collection of jumpscares.
I would recommend to people into atmospheric horror rather than a more in your face approach

Man, I love atmospheric horror games with blocky graphics that keep you on edge. I've played it twice now, once on switch and once on PC. Will definitely play again in the future.

The closest I've felt to playing a nightmare. It's odd, disconnected, and uncanny. A really wonderful horror experience if you're into surreal horror.
Definitely interesting but held back by forced mouse smoothing that gives me headaches and kind of lackluster commitment to the retro 3d style. It's also just very short, really wish there was more to it

Leute, nehmt keine Drogen, mehr muss man eigentlich nicht zu dem Spiel sagen. Das Game ist sehr kurz, hat einen Artstyle, welchen ich liebe, hat aber ein extrem schlechtes Pacing. Das Thema Autofahrt, welches zu lange ging, hat sowas von genervt. Alles in allem ein mittelmäßiges Spiel, was man für eine interessante Message durchspielen kann.
Is the atmosphere great? Yes. Is the soundtrack incredible? Yes. Is this a game? No.
This is a short film that holds you hostage holding down 'W' and occasionally tapping a number key. I'd be a lot angrier if I hadn't been gifted this game.

Forcing the player to walk slowly is not gameplay, and its a terrible way of storytelling. It is artistically worthwhile, mind you.
To quote a great director, the tagline for this game should simply be "a woman in trouble."

Short game. Replaying it a few times is key to get the most out of it. A lot of the mystery in it is left unanswered, but you can figure out some stuff on your own after a replay or two. There are plenty of theories floating around online if you are curious, but I wouldn't look them up if you are planning to get the game until after you have beaten it. This game is definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.
There's basically nothing to this game. Most of it is boring driving sections and boring walking sections, interspersed with unskippable dialogue and having to wait sometimes as long as 30 seconds for unskippable things to happen on screen.
There's also, as far as I can tell, no way to lose - you just walk around until you get it right. However, there [i]is[/i] a cheap shot in the first driving scene that seems like it's designed specifically to cheat you out of an achievement so you have to play it again.
I'm going to finish 100%ing it, because it's not difficult, it's just incredibly, incredibly boring. Absolutely terrible way to spend your time, do not recommend at all.

I am convinced, [i]Paratopic[/i] is not for everyone. I came here because of the MandaloreGaming review on YouTube and enjoyed the ride. If you are open for games with an ire atmosphere, were you wonder what the hell is going on, this is for you…
I would say it is best going in knowing as little as possible and just make the experience. The graphics are reduced but have own charm and stile.
Note that the game is short (45 minutes) and you cannot save – so you have to do it in one sitting. So I think technically you could finish it twice and “give it back” to steam. But don’t be that guy…
Also, maybe [i]they[/i] will get you if you do that.

Невероятно скучный сборник чуши с закосом на претенциозность для умных. Ощущение, что прочитал пару случайных страничек, вырванных из книги. Без атмосферы, без сюжета, без хоррора. Пик геймплея - держать кнопку W на протяжении 10 минут. Картинка старается под ретро, но стилистика отвратная.
В общем проходите мимо и даже не пытайтесь осмыслить происходящее.
