The atmosphere and music are excellent, but the gameplay gets very tedious. Some of the puzzles are difficult, especially the golf ones.
Definitely one of the better games in a good series. The plot borrows elements from a couple of the earliest ND books, including the title one and The Mystery at Lilac Inn. Fun atmosphere, and most of the puzzles are solvable without a walkthrough. Light, family-friendly, and takes maybe 10-15 hours on first play, and less than half of that on replays.
Full of lot of fun mini-games and plenty of ways to make money. There are plenty of places to explore as well, and four characters, I believe. I always have fun replaying this one.

Game is great- the least fav part is the mini golf portion and driving around to deliver telegrams to make extra cash. Puzzles aren't terrible in this game, pretty straight forward, unlike some other games in the nancy drew series that give little to no explanation how to solve.

I loved this game! Although the dress puzzle was clunky and driving around delivering telegrams caused me more frustration than I expected, the setting, music, and characters were awesome. I loved the puzzles, the dialogue, and the experience overall. I think I'll be better at mini golf after playing this! lol

My review is going to be biased due to nostalgia.
This game is one of the first games i EVER played as a kid. Unlike other nancy drew games you sort of know who it is by a LONGSHOT nearing the middle to end of the game. The emotional tone of everything is really good though. I loved learning about the history of the house, and finding the secret passageways was NEAT. If you love exploring I'd HEAVILY RECCOMMEND THIS. Because it rewards you a lot for searching every nook and cranny. Like any nancy drew game though there ARE some timed bits, and a somewhat annoying chase at the end so SAVE BEFOREHAND(you'll know when you get there) or just click second chance if you forgot or didnt have time.
My favorite part was the fishing bit. I dont know why i love fishing games so much but its my favorite thing to do in ANY GAME EVER that includes fishing. It isnt even that good of a fishing minigame I just liked it.
Driving around delivering letters was GREAT too. The childs voice on that one farm reminds me of that fake voice people put on to mock weebs a little bit LOL I know thats random but it does
Nancy talking with her dad was really neat too since now we know where she gets her spunk from lol. All in all a really good and heartwarming game since the ending was amazing in that regard.

I enjoyed this installment! The setting was lovely and the puzzles were fun. I can see why this one is a cult classic from the early days of the series.

Surprisingly very well written plot and puzzles, progress very smoothly with subtle foreshadows and tension management. Puzzles are not unreasonably difficult but takes some concentration. Very classy.

Classic Nancy drew adventure. The makers hit their peak during this period - good puzzles, good story, lots of character and atmosphere, and some humour thrown in.
This is one of those ND games that feels like a fever dream. But unlike other titles, this one is actually fun. It's odd, but fun.
I absolutely adore this Nancy Drew installment. The setting, the quirky vibes, the amazing voiceover and attention to details. The puzzles are just right (even on a senior difficulty) and the story is simple but engaging. I was filled with nostalgia playing this, and it's definitely remains one of my favorites.

This game has a cozy setting, the puzzles are a good challenge without feeling impossible, mini golf and driving are so fun! Zippy annoying af tho. I never played these as a kid and can now say mystery is SOLVED.
I loved delivering telegrams around town. All the puzzles were fun but not impossible. The setting was pretty and I enjoyed that the story line wasn't as spooky or creepy as some other ND games.
This has too many tedious gameplay elements to hold my interest. Based on other reviews, it sounds like it gets worse in that way rather than better.
This iteration of the game felt a bit less streamlined, and a bit grindy, but overall it was a good game! I did do everything in the wrong order by mistake tho, so it probably influenced my experience

I LOVE NANCY DREW GAMES OMG
As a childhood fan of the books, I wanted to like this, but coming from modern games, the controls are often confusing and tedious. The mystery / puzzles feel much the same. Maybe if I persevere more, my opinion will change, but I'm several hours in, and I'm not sure if I should give it any more time. It would be hard to recommend this to anyone unless I know for certain they've recently played and enjoy older games.
One more mistery solved. All things done, and story is fascinating. Recommend.

Another fun Nancy Drew game! The 1930s setting is a breath of fresh air and really makes you feel like you're in a Nancy Drew novel. The puzzles were fun and provided some challenge without making you want to pull your hair out. If you're looking for a charming and cozy mystery, this one's for you!
The coziest Nancy Drew game for me! It's not as dramatic as the game description makes it sound haha
It has such a warm sunny vibe to it and the mystery feels very safe and [spoiler] there was no pressure-inducing life-threatening puzzle in the end [/spoiler]. It doesn't feel as lonely or spooky as many other Nancy Drew games and we get to call Carson Drew for a change (I know Bess and George are Nancy's BFFS, but they are literally almost in every game).
There is a nice balance between the "interrogating" part and puzzles, which are very fun, and there are some nice on-the-side activities such as mini-golf and post delivery. It was quite funny to try and find a customer that would actually tip Nancy...and if you deliver letters long enough, you get to encounter one peculiar camp counsellor.
I recommend it both as an nice throwback if you want to revisit old classics and as nice intro game for new players, because the puzzles here are not as difficult as in the newer games.

Русского языка в стиме нет, а скачивать крак и тащить файлы оттуда было лень вот так и получилось, что это первая игра этой серии пройденная мной на английском, и уж точно не последняя)) Рекомендую ознакомится с этим расследованием юной сыщицы прямиком из 1930-ых, с прекрасным джазовым сопровождением, интересными мини-играми, ну и конечно же символичными часовыми фразами, ну а понравится ли вам "время покажет"!

Nancy Drew - Secret of the Old Clock takes place in Lilac Inn. Nancy goes there to visit Emily, since she asked Nancy to safeguard the jewelry that belonged to her mother, but Nancy ends finding her very first mystery to solve: Finding Josiah's real wil and who's trying to steal the inheritance money Emily is supposed to receive from Josiah.
I'm not gonna go into details about the gameplay mechanics, since it's still the same as previous games, but here my regards about the flow in general:
There's things that I was able to do way before I was really supposed to do, but they didn't ruined the experience. While the game is surprisingly short, is also very enjoyable. The few puzzles in the game aren't too hard that you end up resorting to looking up the answers and also are very rewarding once you beat them.
The only gripe with the flow was the strings of tasks that you have to do just for an single item; besides that, the story advances pretty quicly.
Overall, I enjoyed the story as a whole as well the ending and I can recommend this entry in the series for those who already enjoy mystery/puzzle type of games.
Although I NEVER want to sew or play putt-putt ever again, I did love the change of pace with this one!!

I loved this game as a kid and am a huge fan of the Nancy Drew series. It's been a lot of fun to replay the games and soak in the nostalgia. It's a good game if you're into Nancy Drew and if you're looking for a good short play. It's a good game for kids with an interest in mystery.
I've loved the Nancy Drew games since childhood, and was delighted to find them on Steam! This was a new game for me, and a great way to jump back in. Not spooky like some of the others, and a classic storyline for book fans to try out.
Secret of the Old Clock is not one of my favorite ND games. Setting the game in 1930 for Nancy's anniversary was interesting and well-executed, however most of the rest of the game wasn't. There are some puzzles that are good, but a lot of them are frustrating and difficult to get through. There are a few good character moments as well, but not many. If you like the original books, it is an amalgamation of the first four, which is also not my favorite aspect. I have a long history of dislike toward this game, so take this review with a grain of salt, you may very well enjoy this game more than I have.
This is an interesting one because - unlike the other games in the series - it's not a modern retelling of the original book, it takes place in the original time period of the books. I like the puzzles they've incorporated into the game, though I'd say that the characters are less than interesting in this one. I also felt like there were character arcs that had a very shallow resolution in the ending. Still, it's a fun game. 7/10.
I was enjoying this game until I got to the damn sewing machine. I am so frustrated with it that I am uninstalling it. I don't know who decided on the controls for that and made it to where the game will not let me move fabric around so I can get the stitch right without turning on the machine like a real sewing machine, but I will kick them in the nether regions if I ever meet them.
Shame. I really wanted to see how they blended the first four books. Guess I'll never know now.
This was a really cool setting for a Nancy Drew game. I liked that it took place in 1930 to celebrate the actual release of the first Nancy Drew mystery novel. I don't know how Nancy went back in time but it's probably not important. Being able to drive around town was super fun and I really liked the story line! I'll add this to my list of favorite Nancy Drew games.
Lots of puzzles, very quick play through compared to other HER Nancy Drew games which tend to keep you busy for twice as many hours. The story is compelling and the characters are fun.
Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock steps back in time in a unique fashion. Our usual modern heroine is now representative of her original novel counterpart. it's the 1930's and Nancy is staying at the Lilac Inn to investigate a series of mishaps that have befallen her friend. Along the way, Nancy is drawn into a second mystery involving the death of kooky, beloved neighbor, Josiah Crowley.
The driving function is fun, and delivering the telegrams around town is an entertaining way on making a few extra cents.
Overall: This one is a treat to explore. The music is lovely and helps immerse you into the story and setting.
This was some really awesome point and click fun. The ending had a left turn rather than a twist. Also the car chase was ridiculously janked. I did not care for the turning POV camera.
Fun, and I like how Nancy makes a few little remarks like 'I've never solved a mystery before; maybe I'll be good at it!' Very funny. I was also very focused on the wrong clock for most of this. Good job Crowley, I suppose; you fooled me, too.

Absolutely amazing game! I love that the game takes place in the 1930s and it is so much fun! The puzzles are simple and entertaining, I love driving in this game and the mini-golf! Fun phone contacts and characters are quirky.
Please hire a mailman for the town. There is a lot of undelivered letters.

In my review of all the Nancy Drew games on Senior Detective mode I give this one a 6/10. I don't love the 1930's setting and honestly didn't feel like it unless I was driving or delivering telegrams. The story line is good and the puzzles are challenging, some are annoying though.
The mini golf game feels so out of place, and it also slows you to a crawl. It *has* to be beaten unless you have spoiler hints found online. It also feels like something out of Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and not a Nancy Drew adventure set in the 1930s.
I wish I didn't start with this one, and I don't see me playing this again at all. Get Curse of Blackmoor Manor instead, or literally any other Nancy Drew game.

Classic game with fun puzzles. Good length, appropriate and sometimes funny voice acting, and intriguing plot. I've played probably a dozen times and it's in my top 5 ND HER games.
Puzzles were fun but not too complicated. Visuals were also very fun and colorful. Great game to play if you're in the mood for a puzzle game but don't want to overwork your brain.

Played it as a fun throwback. I grew up playing this game. Still have the original disc somewhere! The minigames are fun, the puzzles are fun, Nancy Drew is fun.

This is my third ND game I've played this week and definitely my favorite, as I'm just getting back into the games after 15 years. This one had so much content, great navigation and good puzzles. I definitely recommend!
I played Nancy Drew games growing up as a teen. I think almost all of them. This one however i never received( usually got the game as a Christmas gift). I am older now and def had fun playing this. And beat it surprisingly faster than my younger self. If you have a few bucks to spare it is totally worth the play through. If you like early 2000's games.

I have loved Nancy Drew since I was little and this one is my absolute favorite. Its based off the original Nancy Drew story and its just as exciting as I imagined!
This may be the most unusual of the ND games - set in the 1920's and you drive a car around and do errands to earn money. Very fun mystery with the usual creative puzzles. I have never played a bad ND game and this is no exception. Amazing how well these still run given how ancient they are but they're still the best puzzle games around.
Not the best Nancy Drew game - story isn't the best, pacing is quite slow, and the chores are tedious. Recommended for fans of the franchise only.

play this game as a kid I really enjoy all the Nancy drew games. this was my first one, I love that most of it is voiced so if your not good at reading you can still play. there a few notes that doesn't read out loud that you need to know. But for the most part you can get through which is amazing and great for kids or others who reading isn't the easy. while also having a mystery and getting you to think and try and figure out all the puzzles and everything.

I found delivering telegraphs very fun! i many games where there is some odd task to do it can be boring or annoying, but I think it went for 50 times before it started repeating, and I ended up with way too much money

I really enjoyed playing Secret of the Old Clock. Although not too heavily detailed, the story is easy to follow, and the characters who we interact with are interesting to speak to. The radiant mini games; playing golf, delivering telegrams, and even the fishing are really fun. Titusville is a cool place to drive around, the only downside is that there are only 3 places that are interactive besides the inn, I wish there were more!
The reveal of who is at the center of the mystery actually surprised me! I'd recommend this game as an easier difficulty game that doesn't take a long while to complete. :)

This ND game is not for everyone, and the community makes that clear. However, I really enjoyed it.
CONS: It isn't scary, includes chore runs, and finicky and annoying driving system.
PROS: Spectacular puzzles (some of the best out of any game in the series), perfect length/pacing, interesting story and characters.
I'm playing my way through all of the ND games, and I suspect most people reading this review are too, regardless of reviews! But here are my thoughts anyway.
okay I can't go any further without warning you of the extremely messed up cat model. nothing's wrong with him, he just looks...special
actually going to go negatives first on this one because there's just the one. I appreciated the uniqueness of the driving mechanic, and the money mechanic, but it did start to feel tedious after a while.
other than that, this is definitely up there with the better ones for me! this one has some absolutely excellent and unique puzzles. satisfying, unexpected plot, you get to sew something really badly and play mini golf, i can't ask for much more.
This game is pleasant and varied, with no puzzles that are too hard. Besides, there are excellent walkthroughs available. I especially enjoyed the 6 holes of miniature golf.

I remember playing this game as a kid, but for some reason I remember it being incredibly boring (?) I couldn't have been more wrong, this one is great. The puzzles are super fun, the stream of clues is great, I like the added feature of driving the car, the story line is interesting. The only con in my opinion is that I wish it was longer, but I feel that way about most of the ND games. This one being one of the earlier games, I'd definitely rank it close to Blackmoor Manor and Shadow Ranch.
