I'm just getting into this. So far it's great, intense, and fun as hell. I haven't experienced anything to crazy, and to be honest if you line up and do your thing, it goes pretty smooth. This is gaming with the boys. It's clunky in a good way, and some deaths are just funny as ♥♥♥♥, but sometimes its instant with a long wait to respawn. Honestly, its fun. Don't forget to reload right away lol.
War of rights is a very good game that still tops over 200 players on one server everyday, its a game you can play with half a brain and takes very little effort to play.

The single best civil war game ive ever played, and its just great fun. The voice chat can be both immersive and hilarious, and the community is very very beginner friendly. Pop can get low sometimes, best times are in the evenings or weekends because anyone who plays a civil war milsim is probably above the age of 30 and has a full time job. One of my favorite games

You stand in a line firing potshots at people far away that are also standing in a line. Thats 99% of the game. Add in the super slow reloading,running,attaching bayonet. Thats the game.

This game is addictive if you’re looking for a social milsim that is entirely predicated on teamwork. The experience is greatly improved if you join a company with competent officers. I would not recommend this game if you’re looking for a solo FPS experience that rewards maximizing kills. This game actively punishes players, and the team, if you abandon your company. There are no individual player scores, and stats like your kills or deaths are not tracked. The developers are still actively developing this game which is great. There is generally 1 public server with over 200 players at peak times. Private servers will often hit 400 players, but you will need to join a regiment to participate in those events.
I would like to see the developers finally release support for self-hosted servers. I would also like to see a modding tool, like Source Mod for CSS, for servers that want to provide a more unique community experience.

Fully optimized Game. After about 250hr of play I can say this game is fun but you will have more fun once you understand it. I Highly advise you to look at the battle line network tutorial before playing. There is only one big pub server and its people that have been playing for years. They know the maps but are also cocky and think they are the ♥♥♥♥. Still advise to listen to the co's they are the stars after pressing t. You will spend most of the time reloading and not seeing the enemy besides the smoke just keep shooting. charges are fun but thats not the meta now. Horses next update maybe? well thats the meme. Great game chat is old school funny and crazy. YES ITS A GOOD BUY.
Highly recommend playing with a regiment. Makes the game 100 times better.

This game is incredible. Like this is hand down the BEST civil war simulator so ever exist. This game has cap lock rifles, cap revolvers, swords, cannons ,muskets , explosions , blood , musket volleys and so much more. People in this game use communication to twin the battles. Each team has a certain amount of officers in charge of a certain amount of people which all work together in order to strategize a plan to win the game. Everyone in this game is very friendly and talkative and you feel accepted immediately. This is probably one of my top 5 games of all time. it is extremely fun and addicting and you can play for hours and hours and not even notice. its a great game to just sit back relax and enjoy your day.

Absolute cinema. If you ever played this game before and left because of a toxic community, that is gone. 90% of the community is kind and bans toxic and racist people (if they aren't roleplaying). I met a few people that I play with often now. The gameplay itself is not that historically accurate, but it is fun and unforgiving. If you are a fan of the US Civil War, try this one out. One downside is that lots of servers are for Chinese people that don't speak English, so it is hard to play."
Wonderfully cooky community perfect for the stay at home larper. I highly recomend participating in the community events which elevate the experience to an incredibly immersive level.

The game is fun but to enjoy everything it has to offer your almost required to join a regiment, that's all fine and dandy with me but sadly the regi community is filled with toxicity and bad actors. Some regis are full of grown men who only play for the larp and will tk if immersion is ruined, and some are full of dudes who dislike anyone who takes the game seriously. Unless you have a group friends willing to play, I can't recommend this game to the lone buyer, at the end of the day its a civil war game and sadly you get people who think that means they can be the worse they can be, Union or Rebel

You can be banned for any reason because of "admin discretion", they dont need a clip you just get banned like I was for someone else's racism. So if you are a racist, say your garbage when everyone is talking over eachother. Youll get away with it while getting others in trouble.
INSANE
This is my favorite fps and may be my favorite video game in general. I may have more hours in other games, but this one is one of the most memorable and fun games I've played. The fun:hours-spent ratio is top notch. And having battles with 400 players at once is epic. Getting 1 kill in this game feels more rewarding than getting 10 kills in a CoD/BF type game imo.
If you like the jumping around, power sliding, parkouring, quick movement style of fps games, this is not that. This is definitely on the simulation side of fps games. This is "slower" but definitely does not feel slow when you're in combat, which is on par with some of the most high-adrenaline feeling combat I've experienced (along with other sim-ish games like Squad 44, Hell Let Loose, or WW2 Online). IMO the game's environmental graphics are so well done that this is the most immersive game I've played. That's why even though it may technically be "slower" than something like a CoD or BF game, it feels faster: more intense and more adrenaline fueled, because it feels/looks real.
The weapons are smoothbores or rifled muskets for the most part, i.e., they take about 24 seconds to reload after firing each shot. I think it takes about 6 seconds to affix/remove your bayonet. The game also focuses on teamwork, and harshly penalizes players who are "out of formation" (i.e., away from other groupings of teammates) and rewards when players are "in formation." I think the focus on teamwork is one of its strongest qualities and when there are good players playing as the commanding officers and NCOs commanding the troops the game really shines. Of course, it's POSSIBLE to just run off doing your own thing, but you will be a detriment to your team (dying out of formation costs your team more tickets) and you will be penalized (easier to be suppressed by enemy fire, meaning increased weapon sway while aiming and a visual effect making it harder to see the more suppressed you are, and an even longer reload time). If the sound of long reload times and inability to effectively run off Ramboing like a one-man-army doesn't sound fun to you, you probably won't like this game.
I can really only speak on Infantry gameplay, as that has been 95% of my experience in this game. I've never acted as a CO or NCO, but I know they have additional tools to help them convey orders effectively. I've spent a small amount of time as Artillery, which is a totally different type of gameplay than Infantry, and fun for different reasons. My experience there only extends to loading and moving the canons, however, so I have no idea if the way they aim/fire is well done or not.
As a fun bonus, the devs do various thematic holiday events, such as 1776 Revolutionary War gameplay around the 4th of July (which I think will eventually be turned into DLC for players who only want to play US Revolutionary War style), building up fortifications and repelling hordes of zombies and giant boss zombies around Halloween, and snow, presents, and snowball fighting around Christmas.
I started out playing on public servers without joining a player regiment and got hooked, so playing in a player regiment is by no means required to have fun. That said, I joined a player regiment probably around the 150hrs-played mark and getting to participate in the player-run events is even more fun than the blast I was already having on the public servers. If you decide to play, I would definitely suggest eventually joining a player regiment once you feel comfortable with the basics. Even if you only play on public servers for eternity, it is still worth it if you like the idea of a US Civil War fps sim. Even if I had to only play on public servers, this would still be the best game ever made imo. I've haven't been this immersed in a game since WW2 Online first came out. And maybe not as immersed in any game in general, or at least on par with other sims, like space sim games (which I find to be some of the most immersive).
Supposedly the devs are working on adding calvary, which I'm hesitant about and do not think it is necessary. I can see the desire to add it for the extra variety and fidelity to the US Civil War, but I enjoy the current version of the game so much that I worry adding calvary might upend the way the game currently feels.
Only time will tell what the future holds for this game, but as of right now and with my current 176 hours played, I can't recommend this game enough.
Genuinely, and whole-heartedly, the BEST war-sim you can buy.
Everyone is high-energy, each team carries their own personality and appearances.
The combat takes some getting used to, no doubt. Most might think it's too slow.
But, until you see an entire line of 100 Blueberries raise their rifles and take aim, while your commander blows the whistle, screaming to don bayonets and charge? Then you yourself will see the magic that IS War of Rights.
Historical accuracy has always been lacking in Civil War media, I wasn't expecting something so grounded and intense when I was doing research into this game. It proceeded to prove me wrong. It bared it's teeth with full ferocity.
This game is absolutely fantastic.
If you like teamwork, gritty and downright brutal combat, with a heavy emphasis of historical accuracy/value, pick this game up and you will NOT be disappointed.

played it on my own maybe a couple hours. Joined a group called PB (Pickets Brigade) and basically play with groups like them exclusively. Great fun, Great guys, and a great insight on what our soldiers had to go through in the civil war.
Your gonna ask where the hell your unit is, join some random group, and as your walking into the battlefield....finally about to start fighting.....half the guys turn into a red mist and the other half became a red spot on the ground. One of the best historical games on the civil war period.
Still very active even almost ten years later. If your a history buff, you owe yourself War of Rights. (Join up with PB or CQB ! Filled with great people both)
the game is fun. the movement is terrible, there is a charge up to walking and running. bayonets do not one shot.... cant tell you the last time i heard of someone surviving a 2 foot long rod going in them and walking it off. you seem to be reloading or fixing the bayonet more than actually playing the game. Could be a really solid game but it takes too long to do anything and dont think its possible to know how many people you kill

When I first got this game, I heard things, like an overly racist community and making stuff political, but this game has been some of the best times I've had since Halo was still good, sure some bad apples exist in the community, but the community is amazing, usually at least one server is active and its so fun hearing so many people interacting as a team in formations, teamwork, something that I don't see so often in the major FPS games.

It was me and 10 other men along a stone wall, locked and loaded. I hear the flapping fabric of our flag in the wind. Then in the woods ahead just a few flashes of blue through the trees. There they are! Our officer orders us to fire, *boom* I can faintly hear some of them, screaming and moaning as the smoke fills the air. Now a volley from the other side. Their shot, tearing into the man to my right and another one close, drops to the dirt. The bugle call cuts through their dying breaths. No time to reload *CHARGE* we sprinted towards each other, bayonets first. I feel my steel enter flesh, and after ripping it out of him, blood soaking my blade. We're falling back to the wall, and I feel lost as cannon fire hit where I had just stood. The confusion sets in our rank as officer Nibblenuttz69 was sundered in the blast. I say a prayer and we rally around our colors. Alas, I found a sense of peace in that chaos, right then, before everything turned black.

Im an American in Wisconsin. Im a fan of everything Western, 1800's, and love learning about the civil war. I actually bought the computer specifically to play this game. and it has exceeded my expectations. i love the historical naroration. the authenticity of the battles as well as the authenticity of peoples attitudes. no matter how offensive it may be. war is pretty offensive. the game is great. i have no complaints. You will die... ALOT!! I love this game!
