This is one of those VR games that has little to no flaws and is a feature-complete experience right out of the box with no strings attatched.

You get a well designed, fun, and replayable VR rogue-like with a unique and entertaining combat system all rolled together with a cohesive and visually pleasing artystyle.

A must-have for any VR headset owner who's a fan of the VR melee game genre, 10/10 no notes.

I can't say enough good things about this game. I was totally hooked right away.

Until You Fall takes place on another planet, in a neon hash of an alien environment, and it totally works. The (light) story background is the bad guy has knocked out all the good guys, except for you, so you're the last chance to save your people. Simple enough.

As the last Rune Knight, you have access to many different weapons, that all play different and have different powers, so there is a lot of different fighting strategies. As you play, each level offers 3 random rewards you can use to affect your knight or one of your weapons. These will also change the way you play, so each game is different, offering lots of replayability. Each of the three stages of the game has 6 random 'rooms' with a boss type event in the 7th room. So the 21st room is the final boss. A normal run takes maybe 30 minutes.

Another interesting component is the weapon class. Light weapons will track as fast as you move your controller, but heavier weapons have 'weight' and can only move so fast, no matter how quick you move your controller. So swinging a giant 2H sword not only requires both hands, but feels like a massive, powerful weapon. It definitely changes your play style.

Combat itself it amazing. Instead of many VR games that let you flail your arms until you overcome your opponents defense, your enemies know how to block, strike, and counter. Which means you need to learn this too. When an attack comes, there is a visual display on the screen you need to match with your weapon for a successful parry. Another thing they do right, at higher difficulties, opponents don't become damage sponges. Instead they get better attacks, blocks, and initiative. To overcome, you need to perform better and fight better.

If another game adopts a similar melee style, I would certainly want to buy it. It feels more challenging than just swinging wildly and fast and it still gets your heartrate up. Beating the game is a satisfying event, often with a victory shout from me. If the developers were to release DLC or a sequel I would be buying it immediately, but unfortunately they have moved on to other things.

Still, this is a great game. I got the last achievement today, and I still plan to play it often. There are still many weapon combinations and styles I want to try! Not disappointed in the least. Add it to your wishlist ASAP!

If you reach the final boss, don't hit the heart with the weapon. Just crush it like an upgrade. Seriously, who designed this stupid sh*t that loses you the entire run at the last second?

A really good VR game and a great way to burn some calories.

New player tips:
- Don't aggro a lot of enemies at once / try to fight the fewest enemies at once
- There are 2 kinds of damage: Guard damage and health damage
- You must break all enemies guard (white bar) before you can deal health damage to them (red slots)
- When you are dealing health damage you see these orange lines. These are COMBOS. Strike these for more damage and to keep up the combo. (Combo upgrades are great for health damage weapons).
- You can have for instance 1 guard damage weapon in one hand, and 1 health damage weapon in the other
- Blocking is key: For new players it's probably easiest to bring 2x one handed weapons, so you can block fast attack easily.
- Dashing can break enemy guard for 1-2 hits
- 2 handed weapons gain the damage of the off-hand weapon. You can equip ANOTHER two handed weapon in the off-hand for crazy damage on your main weapon.

Notons que le jeu est graphiquement en haut du Panier du PCVR , venant d'un temps où la Vr était encore belle et où tout ne se ressemblait pas encore .

Love the attacking, blocking, dashing and dodging mechanics, especially on nightmare difficulty as it's not only fun but can be a workout. It's a shame that the only major update was for 2 handed weapons and not a new area, new enemies or co-op mode, but I understand Schell Games is working on other projects. By far the best VR swordfighting game. Most swordfighting games in VR force you to guess where to block based off of an animation. This leads to enemies that are slow, sluggish and obvious, as well as attacks that look like they should have been blocked, but they weren't. They do this because it's "More immersive"

To fix this issue, Until You Fall adds block and dodge indicators. These indicators tell you exactly how to defend from incoming attacks. This removes all the guess work and allows the game to have much more intricate animations for enemies, as well as much faster combat. This actually makes the game more immersive and fun to play, as all encounters are based on skill rather than guessing.

Unfortunatly, Schell released Project Freefall with a lot of microtransactions and AI generated content, however, Until You Fall has absoloutely 0 gen AI and 0 microtransactions. And thankfully, as far as the public knows, they have abandoned Until You Fall since it wasn't as sucsessful as they wanted it to be. This means that they refuse to update it, which means they have no chance to ruin it. Though I guess I should never say never! (Never say never is the response Schell gives any time they get asked about Until You Fall's future for those who don't know)

This game isn't without it's flaws, however. Some attacks are a bit janky and hard to avoid being hit by. The worst of these are the Spellweavers, who use projectiles, but so long as you swing both weapons at the projectiles one after the other, you shouldn't take damage. This is true for all projectile attacks. Some attacks also demand you dodge a certain way, then dodge further in the same direction for the next attack. These attacks can put you in a situation where the only way to not get hit is to get away from the enemy, but they are still dodgable if you know what you're doing and don't mess up the first doge. However, this is an issue only present in monk runs as far as I know, which are extra challenges.

The Until You Fall community has plenty of community challenges. Most of these challenges have no in game reward, but some of them do have community rewards. There's a challenge for everyone, so don't worry about your skill level if you want to give one a go!

The most well known challenge by far is Monk, but what is less well known is that there are 4 layers to this challenge, each harder than the last. The layers are as follows:
Monks of Rokar (MoR) | Complete a run with the Knight Blooded Crest and the Spellswords Charm
Monk of Rokar Elite (MoRE) | Complete a Nightmare run with the Knight Blooded Crest and the Spellswords Charm
Monk of Rokar Grand Ultimate Elite (MoRGUE) | Complete a run with the Knight Blooded Crest at level 1 and the Spellswords Charm at level 1 on any difficulty
Insanity Manifested: Monk of Rokar: True Acolyte Legion (IMMoRTAL) | Complete a run with the Knight Blooded Crest at level 1 and the Spellswords Charm at level 1 on Nightmare

There are also the Knight's of Rokar. A holliday celebration where 12 knights from Rokar's history are selected to be celebrated througout December. Each knight has their own challenge and story, requiering you to use specific weapons on specific difficulties to beat their challenge. They also accept fan made stories if they like them. I myself am the one who created Marcellinus, Slayer of the void. This is where the bulk of the challenges are, and you can find them all on the Fandom wiki (Unfortunatly we don't have the means to leave Fandom)

Finally, there's the Rokari weapon grand mastery challenge. A true test of game knowlage, demanding you beat the game with all 210 possible weapon combinations with proof for each. This challenge is extreme and not for the faint of heart. There are very few people who have beaten this challenge. The community has made an easy to use spreadsheet to track progress for this one.

These are all the extras I can think of, but there's nothing stopping you from making your own challenges! So get creative and share them with the community!

1 босс на игру, 5 видов врагов 3 усилиных с теми же атаками, спавн врагов один и тот же, Режим сложности только на СКОРОСТЬ АНИМАЦИИ ПАРИРОВАНИЯ.
Собстна от рогалика тут выбор пасивок( 5 вариантов - усиление атаки, усиление атаки по хп, хп буст, усиление активного навыка и увеличения хп.
По факту пройти можно всю игру за 15минут и увидеть весь контет.

За 5 часов я прошел изи сложность, потеть на средней и хард сложности вообще не вижу смысла, а зачем ? там только паррирование ускоренно в которые ты периодически не можем попасть если есть малейший скачок пинга)))

Боевка классная, сочная. можно по приколу по потеть минут 30...

Hard game. Maybe a little too hard. Completion rate for the game is at 4%. Fun though, I like it for a weapon/sword VR game that isn't heavily focused on body/physics simulation. Doesn't necessarily require too much space even in standing mode, has a sitting mode, the in-game dashes help a lot with that. Has some motion sickness accessibility features. 6 hours in a VR game feels like a lot, feels like many more hours of a flatscreen game.

Until You Fall is a simple yet polished lite rogue game with an addicting combat system.
The game is melee combat focused, offering a variety of different weapons for any kind of playstyle.

Every enemy has a set of attack pattern, and you can see them before they attack. You have react fast to parry, evade and counter them with your own attacks.

There are two upgrade systems in this game: At the end of each stage, you can choose a temporary upgrade for the current session until the final stage and if you die, you get some resources to upgrade or unlock new weapons.

The combat system works surprisingly well in VR. You have to learn attack patterns and up your reaction time at parrying. It's pretty much game over if you lose your focus.

Definitely an underrated gem here. I would love to play more games with a combat system like this.

Until You Fall is a grrrrrrrreatly enjoyable VR experience combining gameplay elements and UI seamlessly with VR controls, it's like playing Infinity Blade in VR where the goal is to fly between focused 1v1 scenarios and create fluid slashes across the enemies in a dance that can easily tie into each next fight, the bosses are a fun bit of exercise as well.

Also the soundtrack for this game is insanely good.

I got it as part of a bundle.

My main issue with this game is the very slow walking; the dash option alleviates it a little, but the slow movement when parrying is unnerving.

On the bright side, the weapons are interesting, the enemies are reasonably smart, often trying to encircle me, and the best thing is… it makes me [b]sweat[/b]! A run is like a good aerobics session.

玩起来特别累的街机风VR剑斗游戏，非贬义。

战斗系统做的很有意思，在VR里进行QTE立回格挡和打破防御后的暴击连砍这种事情确实很爽快，画面和音效给的反馈也非常足，让人感觉自己真的很帅。
但是因为你并不是一对一打怪，很多时候这种QTE会变成劣势，让你没办法从容应对多个敌人，好在在休闲难度下敌人还是比较讲武德的。

缺点其实很明显，知道我为什么说很累吗？首先游戏是一个线性闯关的玩法，每过几关就会有精英怪，也有三个boss战，我在千辛万苦应对各种精英怪，过五关斩六将后打到boss战前，或是被几下打死前功尽弃，或是我费尽千辛万苦打赢了boss，之后，这个游戏就会把你之前打得很辛苦的精英怪加多几个给你打，甚至还有强化型，我瞬间感觉如临大敌，不是打不过，是真的打得很累，虽然是固定模板的攻击顺序，但真的很累。
以及，一个场景里塞差不多快二十个怪这对吗……？我汗流浃背了。

游戏的武器和技能系统很有意思，但感觉还是有点单调，玩法里的Rougelike元素也没有感觉能给整体游戏带来质变，这方面提供的正反馈还是不太够的。

值得一玩，但是注意体力消耗，信我没错。

Es un muy buen título que te mantiene en constante movimiento: esquivar, agacharte, girar los brazos, siempre atento a enemigos que a veces te rodean. Puede marear un poco, pero esa intensidad es parte de su encanto.

Lo que más destaco es cómo te obliga a moverte físicamente: si sos de los que pasan horas quietos, acá vas a terminar ejercitándote sin darte cuenta. Entre combates tensos y mecánicas claras, logra ser uno de esos juegos que justifican tener casco VR.

What I love the most is how it forces you to move physically. If you tend to sit around for hours, this game will make you exercise without even realizing it. Between tense combat and straightforward mechanics, it’s one of those titles that make owning a VR headset worth it.

Really Cool game !
Played on a Quest 3 with a cable

The mobility is not as bad as it looks, comprised mainly of dashes and some slow walking.
you need some space around you, but not that much
There is a seated mode, but I haven't tried it

The plot is non-existent outside of "go kill bad beasts"

There's some really cool reverse kinematics

The gameplay isn't really anything too challenging. It's a "Dodge and parry until you can gard break your enemy and then do as much damage as you can"
that being said, being able to predict almost every movement an enemy is going to make feels great.
So does hitting a perfect 8+ combo with one hand.
There's 15 weapons, with some really cool gimmicks - like some weapons being slower due to their weight and thus harder to parry with, some whcih cannot parry, and some two handed stuff. At their core, they're all almost the same, but they are still quite different strategy wise.
The power ups are ... well, very basic. And quite unfair. I would have loved to see more trade-off upgrades, but there's only one.

Now onto the main default of the game :
The enemies.
There's a grand total of ... 4 enemies. each coming in two flavors. That's still only 8.
Plus one boss.
The upside of that is that you can completely learn and read their attacks paterns (they have ... 4 each ?)
The downside is, well, there's no variety.
From the descriptions of the achivements, it seems the devs planned for several biomes, maybe with different mobs, but that was probably scrapped (either cause they wouldn't have been different enough, or a lack of time.)

The game is still quite hard. there's 4 levels of difficulty, and as if that wasn't enough, some achivements are really though to get.
It's probably not as hard to complete or play as it must have been in 2017 (having a clear field of view really helps)
I wish the highest difficulty would reward more though, cause it still feels like the hardest achivements are the ones related to grinding and farming ...

Still, really cool !
Stomping over all your enemies with the swordwave ost in your ears is an incredible feeling (and workout)
I would love to see a dlc, or a second instance !

The best melee roguelike I've played in VR!

Enemies are varied enough, weapon handling is solid.
Some traits, like many of these games, are useless compared to others, but don't expect OP builds here.
My only gripe is that there's just the one boss 3x even if he learns new tricks each stage.

I thoroughly enjoyed the painful challenge modes (Looking at you weaponless Monk of Rokar)

Honestly, a pretty good rouge-like/light. You swing a sword and can teleport instead of walk if you get motion sick. There are several weapons and upgrades. It's not a QTE game like one review says - the dodge kind of is but that's any VR game with dodging. I wish that the upgrades had a little filtering to prevent an occasional full spread of useless ones, but that's most rouge likes tbh.

Friends and mine greatest addiction. Every time we had time we would play it, trying out different strategies and outperforming the last run. Great mechanics, great gameplay, replayability out of this world. I tried all the most popular VR games and this is by far the 1st game I'll give anyone new to VR to play and they even forget about Beat saber most of the time and just keep playing this. Highly recommended, 10/10. The only thing i would suggest is adding online multiplayer mode so I could play with my friends who also have VR, but I'm aware that's really hard to do (if you'll look into it, game like "It takes two" and "Split fiction" had some really fun coop interactions which could give you a rough idea how to make 2 players mandatory for certain bosses). Thank you so much for all the fun.

UYF is a rogue-like melee brawler centred around a pretty rigid attack and defence system. You go through a sequence of maps interspersed with a boss every couple of stages, and at the end of each stage you get to select a reward (be that upgrades, health, or out-of-combat currency that you can use for the roguelike elements). The most important thing is that the game is fun, but I am only four hours in and are starting to see how enjoyable (and truly repetitious) the core gameplay elements are. I've played from the start on the hardest difficulty which should place some context for some of these criticisms and explanations.

The combat revolves around a guard meter and health meter mechanic where you have to deplete the opponents guard meter to perform a guard break, then you get to do a small combo to deal damage to their health. Each enemy has a preset number of specific strikes that can only be blocked by aligning either of your weapons in a specific direction, and once you get some familiarity with these sequences the game is pretty easy. This doesn't get much harder even with multiple higher difficulty opponents as they just circle you and let one opponent attack at any given time with clear movements in and out so you always know who you're gonna be attacked by.

The game has some artificial difficulty spikes that push your ability to react to the strike indicators, such as the Red Knights in the middle of the game who unleash a flurry of attacks when down at low health. This is fine as a design decision, because the weapons in the game are designed around you managing two meters and weapon "weights" to give you options. For example, heavy weapons move slowly but deal more damage on blocked attacks, so you can try to block a few attacks which will cause a guard break. Light weapons move as quickly as you can, so can be used to block and deal out rapid strikes even between opponent attacks. Each weapon has a different ability which is built via meter, and these range from freezing opponents to pushing them back to poisoning them with DoT. In the case of the Red Knights, you can take the early fight easy to build meter and throw out all of your abilities to blow through or stall the rage phase. It all makes sense.

Each of the stages pretty much has the exact same number and type of opponents regardless of the run, with very little deviation. Though you have the option to move about, the terrain and navigation is quite clunky, and to be honest I don't really know what the purpose of you being able to move in the game is. You dash to engage every time, and there's very little advantage between two different positions with environmental features since ranged attacks pass through other opponents.

Overall I do think the game is worth picking up, but be wary that there is likely only around 5-10 hours of content in this game - still noting that it is well polished and deserving of your time.

I am actively writing a review for this game while I cool down from playing it in between runs, unable to hold myself back from praising the experience. I rarely write a review for a game, even those I have hundreds of hours in- but this is needed for me.
Until You Fall is of the most impressive hidden gems in VR gaming, within the top 5 and competing in enjoyability to Half Life: Alyx and other fan favorite titles on my list. The combat is smooth, yet fast paced and can become overwhelming in the best way after a moment's notice. I keep finding myself pausing the game after I clear a room, going "that was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool", walking to my PC and saving a clip of my gameplay... then this process repeats in the next room, the room after, so on and so forth. Until You Fall makes you feel like a warrior, fighting back against the typical nuances of VR clunky combat with swift action and fast paced ques to follow. You have the freedom of choosing when you attack, the game only dictates how you block and dodge. The offense is all on you, your choice, and a wondrous experience that feels both flashy and satisfying after every chain of hits/blocks.

The combat feels better than all swordplay I've experienced in VR, the fights keep you light on your feet and sweating, an absolute BANGER of a soundtrack alongside it, and a gorgeous visual design that itches my artist brain well.
I know it's been years now since the games received attention, since it is a complete experience - though I am also in the boat after only 2 hours of gameplay [so far] that I would immediately buy into any DLC or additional modes offered, as well as weaponry.

Only negatives I can think of at the moment would be some controller mapping when it comes to the index. (The thumb scroll section I tend to rest my thumb on instead of the joystick also controls your dash, causing me to constantly waste it by accident during any of my fights- ) . .
I am also bound to annoy my friends because after every single fight I am absolutely fangirling over the experience within any voicechat I occupy, while they probably could care less. Negative for them, neutral positive for me.

On a sale? You don't have anywhere better to spend your money.
Off a sale? Certainly. Every penny.

Großartiges Spiel - habe es im Quest Store schon vor Jahren erworben, sicher 40-50 Stunden an Spielzeit und nun auch auf Steam erworben. Es ist eines der besten VR Schwertkampf Spiele. Die Mechaniken sind sehr gut umgesetzt und machen unglaublich viel Spaß - Angriff, Parieren, Abwehren, Zurückschlagen, Ausweichen man hat viel zu tun :) Grafik ist ok, der Sound und die Musik sind gut, die Atmosphäre ist sehr gut, die Gegner sind ausgezeichnet - herausfordernd, jeder Gegner hat eigene Stärken und Schwächen und Angriffsmuster, die Animationen sind super. Die Waffen sind das beste am Spiel - die fühlen sich super an, sind allesamt zum upgraden etc. Es ist aber auch ein richtiges Workout, man schwitzt und ist außer Atem. Nach den Siegen fühlt man sich richtig mächtig. Tolles Spiel - für mich ein Must Have in der VR Bibliothek.

even though i initially liked this game, i ran into some dealbreakers later on:
* in the later levels, sometimes the enemies gang up on you from many angles and there is nothing you can do about it
* the critical strikes are just random enough to break your swing/attack flow every now and then: you're required to hit the target at an awkward angle in a split second. at the same time, several weapons are only doing real damage if you make wide swings.
* enemy behaviour is inconsistent - the exact same enemy can go down with 3 swings or decide to tank 7 via near perfect defense. this means you can't plan reliably.
* controls: unintened things can happen (turn instead of dash, unequip weapons mid fight)
* no variety at all in "guard damage mode", you just do the same thing no matter the enemy type

I wish i could give this a thumb sideways, but I can't, so here goes. I keep wanting to play this game but pretty much without fail I end my game session frustrated. Which is a shame because the game is pretty fun and also doubles as exercise.

It's annoying to me that dashing is the only way to actually move anywhere. I know you can walk but the speed is so slow I am pretty sure the average 100-year-old can move faster than that. And mid-combat you can't know how many dashes you have remaining because that'd require you to look down which you don't have time to do. Dashing is also inconsistent; I sometimes end up dashing forwards when I want to dash backwards and vice versa. Perhaps it should be bound to something else than the analog stick?

The way that maximum health works also has a weird impact on how getting items works. If you are missing even a little bit of health, this means that after every level you will be offered the healing item. I don't want that, so this healing item just takes up 1 out of 3 slots after every level, basically guaranteeing that I hardly ever find any good items if I am missing any health. Maybe the healing item shouldn't take up one of the three item slots at the end of each level? If you pick it up, it'd still be the only one you get from that level but I feel like I should still be offered three other options.

Also blocking seems to be inconsistent, especially for ranged attacks. I'll put my sword in the position indicated and the visual feedback even confirms that my sword is positioned correctly, but I still sometimes take damage from ranged attacks despite all that. Don't know what the deal with that is.

I guess that's most of it.

This game is a workout. It functioned as an inadvertent fitness regimen that may even have the potential to surpass those other games/applications available on the VR market which are dedicated for exercise, including those boxing titles. It proved just how suboptimal my physical condition was when I began to experience sweating and fatigue just within my very first hour of play time, but it probably doesn't help that the VR headset does generate a lot of heat that would have exacerbated the issue of sweating and needing to change my shirt and applying deodorant after my gaming session. I like to sometimes pretend that I am Brad Pitt in [i]Troy[/i] when I play video games like this but I quickly realize how incapable I am of that as I am not a chiseled, athletic warrior like you'd see in the movies.

[i]Until You Fall[/i] is a VR experience with roguelike elements. This means that you spawn in, fight 'until you fall,' and then respawn from the beginning but with the chance to upgrade your kit, or in the case of this game, your weaponry, so that you can theoretically survive longer and progress further before your next inevitable death. It could be categorized as a repetitive gameplay loop, but one that is addicting because you can tangibly feel yourself becoming more powerful and more experienced with each restart. Consequently, the bosses and mobs that you fight become more manageable as you learn their attack patterns and optimize your elimination strategies.

The combat, and the overall game itself, takes place in an arena-based structuring where each map contains a few hostiles requiring elimination before advancement is permitted. There is an importance on your own physical stamina management, as players confront sequential encounters with minimal respite unless you choose to pause the game. I like to try and pursue as much immersion as I can with VR gaming, and so I typically refrain from resting unless the game provides an appropriate location such as a bench or something. Upon clearing a map, players select from three randomized enhancements, characteristic of roguelike design, which may include health restoration should you have taken damage and feel it significant to refill, maximum health upgrades, weapon upgrades, or one or two others like in-game stamina upgrades that let you dodge around the arena. Personally, I would have liked to see more to choose from for empowering the character.

Upon defeat, players respawn in a central hub offering three difficulty settings to choose from, a DPS dummy for weapon experimentation, an upgrade pedestal for your weapons, and an array of unlockable weaponry purchased through "aether," the in-game currency accrued during natural progression. The dual-wielding system accommodates virtually any weapon combination, excluding larger implements such as the greatsword, which necessitates two-handed manipulation and is kind of odd and clumsy. Each armament has distinctive attributes, traits, and ultimate abilities, providing substantial variety, including spiked knuckles for those who prefer pugilistic combat where you hope you don't punch a hole into the wall or TV. While seated gameplay is available, I did not evaluate this option as I am a standing VR gamer unless I'm playing a fishing game or something.

The game has twenty-one maps, each requiring only a few minutes to traverse. Ultimately, the game is relatively concise and can be completed within a few hours on the lowest difficulty setting, contingent upon individual level of skill. There exists three boss fights, and the boss does not reappear once vanquished at a particular difficulty until the setting is adjusted or reset. This design element is interesting, but adhering to roguelike principles, results in monotony as players repeatedly confront increasingly trivial opponents before reaching the previous map in which you died at. I discovered an apparently overpowered combination of weapon selection early in my playthrough by dual-wielding the dagger and energy sword that looks to be from Halo while emphasizing critical strike potential and dodge regeneration abilities, which facilitated a rapid completion. Every weapon does eventually achieve sufficient damage to efficiently dispatch opponents as players will each be privy to different types, but I liked the daggers because of the visual spectacle where the increased critical strike creates a miniature firework display with each slice.

The story itself is unremarkable and derivative, though, it's mostly just enjoyable to go around slashing and hacking the corrupted humanoids that have been affected by the calamity or whatever the narrator was trying to explain to you. The storyline primarily serves as contextual justification for the game's identity rather than providing substantial narrative depth. A continuation of the game through a sequel or DLC or an expansion that better tells its story would have been great.

I had some issue with movement controls as well, more specifically with the Meta Quest 3. The system seems to inexplicably tug you towards approaching hostiles rather than allowing for defensive repositioning when desired. It felt like the joystick ocasionally failed to produce movement corresponding to my desired input, and I couldn't tell if it was just because it was trying to move me towards the direction I was looking, or what.

Enemy types are also repetitive and lacking in diversity, where the diversity that exists comes in a sort of three-tiered system where every seven maps or so (or after beating the boss), the enemies become less basic and are liable to transform into that of a Super Saiyan whilst attacking you with more HP, armor, and a new moveset to study and guard against. Some enemy types are already rather tanky by default, only to become tankier with later iterations, that it was tiresome to load into a new map and see the same enemies that you just fought previously, especially when it was the imposing shield-bearer. Combined with the confined arenas, players may find themselves inadvertently maneuvering opponents into additional enemy clusters or becoming surrounded while attempting to create tactical space.

During battle, visual indicators display weapon positioning for blocking incoming attacks. While some might consider this excessively simplistic, I found this feature appropriate, as I'm not sure most of us possess the requisite skills for a VR experience with the punishing difficulty characteristic of soulslike titles on a flatscreen.

The boss encounters proved most disappointing, adhering to the same three-tiered concept prevalent with the other hostiles. A hallmark expectation of roguelike experiences involves confronting formidable, distinctive bosses. However, this game presents a singular antagonist: a quadrupedal, nightmarish entity that roams the corrupted landscape. The three boss encounters all feature this same creature, with the final confrontation culminating in its definitive defeat before it can elude your dominance yet again. You're basically just chasing it around the 21 maps.

Other than these flaws, the game doesn't really have any other notable deficiencies that make it a bad experience more than a good one, and I can see why it is hailed as one of the better melee VR games currently available. It's fluid and responsive, a good workout, has entertainment and replay value, and presents appreciable challenges when attempting harder difficulty settings. The achievements encourage experimentation with diverse weapon combinations as well, dissuading players from exclusively employing their preferred, potentially overpowered configurations, such as my dual-dagger approach.

Anybody wanting to play it casually will enjoy it, as well as those seeking a more demanding physical and tactical challenge.

Unfortunately, I got this game by buying a key. Otherwise I would have definitely refunded money because it's boring as hell and all the fights are just QTEs and QTEs only. And of course you should not forget about the mottling and blinking effects, behind the flashes of which you simply can not see how and where you have to block the enemy attack. So the gameplay loop looks like this: boring QTE grind -> death -> repeat. It really don't worth your money.

Unique and beautiful aesthetic, solid and empowering swordplay, easy to learn and hard to master. Currently my favorite VR workout title, though as I'm getting back into VR I'll check out other roguelikes. But it's hard to say much more about the game - it just works! It's great!
