Doesn't run on modern CPU's and even though the Dev says the CPU crash has been fixed, it has not. Since it can no longer be run and for some reason the dev can't fix it, I'm voting thumbs down and recommend this game be delisted.

It's a better game than the first one, I feel, due to better balance, but it isn't perfect and I chose not to finish. It's an RTS with mostly tower defense elements, but there doesn't appear to be a pause button so it becomes a twitch game which isn't what I was looking for. I shouldn't have to fight the interface to get the game to do what I want to do; that's work and not play. Pause-enablement for real-time play is critical, especially in a game that resorts to some cheap tricks like Toy Soldiers does. Many times in missions you will have to change your tower types to address the specific challenges of each wave in a game. That's really tedious to do without being able to pause. It's also contrary to the traditional style of tower defense play, where you are trying to set up a good defense network of towers, not sell and rebuild constantly.
Outside of that, I did feel this is a good game. The milieu is solid 80's schtick, poking fun at Rambo-style jingoism and cold war stereotypes. The graphics and animations are well done, considering their age, and play can be satisfying when you take control of a unit and start blowing away targets.
Not a bad deal at all, for the two-pack, and entertaining enough to be worth playing but not quite good enough for me to finish. If you're an RTS completist, go for it.

Played previously years ago and refunded due to technical issues then. After buying it again to give it another go, I've found that it's only gotten worse. It crashes to desktop on boot one hundred percent of the time, requiring some truly absurd workarounds to even attempt to get it to run, with unreliable results. In my case, no joy, it's a digital paperweight now.

Much better than the Toy Soldier HD game. Plays better, has all the content, and just a smoother gameplay experience IMO. I started playing this way back in the day on xbox one/360 and it's still a fun game. Don't buy the HD version...buy this one instead.

This was an okay complete remaster
growing up on my old xbox 360 Toy soldiers and Cold war were one of the best growing childhood games playing with the tower defence system and WW1 and cold war Aesthetic made me get into history at an very young age and i would co-op with me parents. but however this complete version of the OG two games all those years ago were an bit bad since i was disappointed with all the SFX being replaced with cold war ones as the WW1 TS aestheic and SFX were all now cold war and not the Originals which disappointed me an bit also mentioning the WW1 TS bosses were 100% nerfed as they werent has hard as i remeber and WW1 TS boss music's was taken out the game due to reasons unknown along with the invasion DLC for WW1 TS as their SFX were replaced with cold war. overrall its an okay. blast to the past but it couldve been wayy better with its SFX and aestheic for the WW1 TS section

Although at my current time of posting this review I don't have many hours playing this on steam, I can say for sure that I have plenty of time playing this on the Xbox 360.
When I was younger I remember playing this game with my dad. It's one of those games that may not be fun for a new experience, but can be a blast for someone searching for nostalgia. This game just holds so many amazing memories that I'll only ever be able to revisit on the battlefield.
For those deciding whether or not to revisit, I say you're never too old for the toybox.

You read that right — this was one of the games I dreamed of playing ever since it came out. Now that I’m grown up and can afford it, I can finally run it on my not-so-decent laptop. I’ve clocked in 17 hours of playtime, tried every single campaign (Original + Cold War with base game + DLCs), and played through all the mini-games.
I can confidently say — if you’re into the Tower Defense genre — this game is [b]FUN[/b]! I wasn’t there for the release of the first Toy Soldiers (it went under my radar), but I had my eyes on [i]Toy Soldiers: Cold War[/i] when it was booming back in the day. So here’s my take:
[h2]1. Graphics & Art Style[/h2]
Graphically, it’s a classic. That means it will never really be outdated because, well… it’s toys! You don’t need hyper-realism — you just need them to look realistic enough to be identifiable. And they nailed it. You can easily tell “Oh, these are American weapons” or “That’s Soviet gear.” The art direction is spot-on and, in my opinion, timeless.
[h2]2. Controls & Gameplay Feel[/h2]
On mouse and keyboard, the game feels solid and responsive. Quick binds — [b]1[/b] to control, [b]2[/b] to sell, [b]3[/b] to upgrade, [b]4[/b] to repair — keep the pace intense. If a tower gets destroyed because you didn’t move your cursor fast enough, you feel it’s your fault, not the game’s. Console players, however, are limited by max cursor speed.
I also noticed level 1 towers (especially the Machine Gun) have poor gun depression, but upgrading improves it noticeably — which makes upgrades feel justified. Projectile-based towers (mortars, artillery, rocket launchers) have a quirk: when manually guiding projectiles by holding [b]Mouse1[/b], your turn speed is limited. No matter how fast you move the mouse, it’s not 1:1. Same goes for planes and jets.
[h2]3. Final Thoughts[/h2]
[b]Fun game[/b], no multiplayer-only locked content, and still worth playing. However, for 2025 standards, it does lack content — so I wouldn’t recommend paying full price.
[h2]4. Extra Tip[/h2]
Oh, I suggest playing the game fully as intended first before replaying it with [i]Cheat Engine[/i]. Once you’ve experienced it normally, then go wild — infinite money, infinite health, whatever you like. It’s a great way to experiment with everything the game has to offer.

Played this back on the Xbox 360. A fairly good tower defense game with Cold War Era themes. Being able to manually control the towers was pretty cool. Also, controlling some of the vehicles and special units were fun as well!
Also, this game contains content from the original Toy Soldiers game too with some new features! Additionally, local co-op is available too.

I played these two games when they were Arcade games on the Xbox 360 and was delighted to learn they've been made available here too. Both are fun tower defense games with unique art style, and makes me wish they made more games (let's ignore the mess that was Toy Chest).
I found it a little odd they added the Cold War mechanics into the first game, but willing to overlook it. I wish they didn't include multiplayer achievements.

内容太少，关卡设计一般，剧情可有可无
最致命的是作为塔防游戏防御塔数量太少只有6个，等级上限也只有3级同时没有战局外成长系统，这直接导致了看起来数量挺多的关卡实际上大部分关卡打完提升有和没有差不多（点名迫击炮和烧烤炮台的升级，基本用不上）
唯二的亮点载具系统和连杀奖励，前者强度不一（点名美国的休伊直升机）后者连杀要求太高基本只能靠收割步兵，在后期大后期敌人全在堆装甲单位的情况基本不可能攒的出来，而且种类太少强度严重不平衡（各种轰炸强度还不如叫个数值怪特种部队出来乱杀）
题材是新颖的，可惜制作组完全没有把握住机会，内容是真的少的可怜

First off I want to say I only have a problem with half of this game. It's at times like this I wish the review had a third option.
This game is supposed to a bundle of 2 games. Toy Soldiers and it's sequel Toy Soldiers: Cold War. I bought it because I'd played both of them on console but wanted to switch fully to PC.
Cold War is just as good on PC, it's got high-octane combat and 80s references that make it like an action movie.
But my problem is what they've done to the original Toy Soldiers. For some reason, instead of including the first game they seem to have just re-skinned Cold War. They added the "barrages" and other mechanics from Cold War which sounds nice. But all the sound effects and menus and screens are from Cold War. This is really jarring to me as a fan of the original one. Especially when I used the Toy Solder's mustard gas turret and it had the sound of Cold War's flame thrower turret. Even the hostile units like tanks an armored cars move like that of Cold War.
It's like if Toy Soldiers and Cold War were actors. And instead of getting Toy Solders to reprise his excellent performance, Cold War pulled on a rubber mask and barely made an effort to impersonate him, with Cold War's own distinct accent oozing out of that mask at every chance.
Final verdict. This game does have Cold War and it's every bit as good as on console.
BUT if you want to play the original Toy Soldiers, buy that game here on Steam separately.

I remember playing both Toy Soldiers on Xbox 360 and 1, they were my childhood and all-around classics, and I bought these games thinking it would be like playing them again, except on PC. But I was heavily disappointed with this game; they turned Toy Soldiers 1 into Cold War, from removing sound effects or changing certain things like the HUD, to completely removing Toy Soldiers 1’s main menu. They even removed the some soldier's dialogue from Cold War, such as the Barrage quotes or tower quotes which I thought gave it character and was quite humorous sometimes. Then, giving TS1 the sound effects from CW was annoying; all the sounds that added to the theme of TS1 were taken away, and for what? Don’t get me wrong, the maps are just as I remembered them, but the character and identity that both of these games had are gone, and now their just Toy Soldiers Cold War WW1 reskin and Toy Soldiers Cold War.

Buggy, glitchy, unpolished. How much so? There is a "report bug" bar at the main menu where you go to select your campaign lol. Also will not work on CPUs with a high core count. How much is a high core count? Not sure. Some of the achievements you can not get because stuff is literally broken. Some features you can not do, like playing "hero" on some maps because the hero falls/clips through the bottom of the map so you literally can not play it. It is not like the game is unplayable though. It will definitely eat away at your free time. A lot of replayability with the DLC, but do not expect public multiplayer, the game is pretty dead.
This game? It's pretty good and all, but compared to "Toy Soldiers: War Chest"? It's just not the same, and it seems to lack the replay value that game had.
If they can't re-release that game due to copyright issues? Maybe I should consider making an homage to that particular video game with ENTIRELY NEW characters, as well as support for custom content...at least once I learn how to program, or make 3D games with GameMaker Studio, that is!

I bought this game do to nostalgia, but now after 13 hours and 100% i think it aged horribly. Controls are stiff and half of time you are fighting with games systems. It conststantly has problems with stability and crashes after 4 hours. Visuals still hold up, but do to how game wants you to control towers because of AI having limited range on towers and limited build slots and this game is pure imbalanced mess on both campagins.
I dont recomend it.

The bloom looks atrocious and hurts my eyes
The towers don't shoot sometimes, and especially the anti aircraft. At the Zeppelin boss, my anti aircraft were not shooting it, causing me to take control. However, this also caused me to lose because I was not paying attention to my toybox health and how much I needed to check on my towers. Not how I remember it from xbox, where I could complete the whole thing without having to take control at all. Also, for having such a good soundtrack, the game for some reason doesn't want to play it. The audio keeps bugging out, leading to the music not playing sometimes. Would not recommend, coming from someone who played this when it came out and had a blast.
