In no world could I have predicted the bizarre places this game took me. Occasionally clunky, always charming, To A T was a bright spot in a dark time for me. It's childish, colorful, and just enough game to have fun with and then walk away with a smile.

Keita Takahashi gave us a game full of glee and silliness, and we wasted it. Everyone apologize to Takahashi.

I think this is best taken in bites, one or two chapters at a time, but it's real fun to share in a group and react to all the little bits it's interested in showing you. Highly recommended to anyone with a discord channel they like sharing things in.

To a T is very unique and weird in a good way, the message of the story is to accepting imperfection and the difference between people. The music is nice; the cast is funny.

The gameplay is the weakest part, it feels slow to explore the city and not that rewarding. I think people need to experience this game once for the story and the weirdness.

And that's so sad to say. I adore Katamari Damacy (and the like) with all my heart and soul and I truly think it is phenomenal that basically anyone at any age can pick it up and play it with relative ease and have a ton of fun doing so. [b] However, that is NOT this game. [/b]

[h3] To a T is, for lack of a better descriptor, a children's show turned walking simulator. [/h3]
It even splits its story into episodes, which are distinguished by balloons in the scene with a number on it (1-7 for each chapter). Each episode starts with the same intro song and ends with the same outro song. The character will often look at the camera specifically, address us as the player, and break the 4th way to ask leading questions or tell us something as a type of "lesson".

[h3] It's extremely Dora the Explorer or Blue's Clues. [/h3]
And that's okay, but only for a very specific type of audience. I was a little worried this would be a bit... childish what with the subject matter being disability in children, but as a woman with some baby fever going I thought I could at least enjoy the cute messaging and story. I did not. I am not 6 and I did not appreciate literally everything wasting my time.

[h3] Every single mini-game, every single challenge, every single moment in this game that is "gameplay" is simply there is stretch the experience. [/h3]
There isn't even any meaning to any of it. Some of the *extremely* challenging mini games only give you a prize if you get the number 1 spot and then it's a cosmetic you don't care about wearing. Brushing your teeth, eating, going to the bathroom and washing your face? All completely optional and have zero influence on the story (I would know, I tried both options and nothing changed). [b] Honestly really sad it doesn't too, since I think this would be a wonderful way to show children the consequences of skipping meals and chores while also showing how difficult a process it is to do these things every single morning while disabled. [/b]

[h2] Overall, just an extremely lukewarm project that I would be a little disappointed in, even if I did have a child to play it with. [/h2]
I didn't like the story at all and I don't appreciate all the ways the game felt the need to waste the player's time. This is only serviceable with a child because they can still have fun and enjoy the visuals and don't understand the nuance of making a good game. But make no mistake, this is not a good game.

I'm sorry for the review; to the dev for making it so brutally honest and to the customer reading this for still marking it as "recommended", even though that is clearly not what I'm saying in my wording.
I wish the absolute best in the whole world to Keita Takahashi and I hope beyond anything that he can still make games (maybe just better ones ahhhh sorry!!)

This is a sweet lil game that my children and I all enjoyed. It plays like a serial cartoon, and my children liked the pacing and humor more than I did--because the humor and pacing are designed for children, not adults! A wonderful, charming T-Pose simulator that is essentially an interactive TV show. It's lighthearted and full of joy and positivity, which is something worth appreciating in a world full of stress and negativity. It's also very memorable, with a ton of unique and quirky things. I recommend this to anyone who want a smile put on their face.

That being said, I do have a suggestion for improving the story: [spoiler] I think the bullies should have apologized and befriended Teen earlier when they saved the girl from falling. They should like Teen for having good character, not just for having cool powers. They can still be amazed by their powers, but the big thing that should have changed them is Teen's act of kindness. [/spoiler]
[spoiler] On a different note, I do like how the bullies were not super extreme. I feel like in too many stories, there are bullies that are super over-the-top and as extreme as possible. But in this story, the bullying was more light. So that's something else I liked. [/spoiler]

1話ごとにアニメを見るようにテンポよくストーリーが進行していくので、2日に分けて一気にクリアまで遊べました。

毎回オープニングとエンディングの曲が流れるところで、エンディングはキリンだけでなく街のいろんな人の歌に変えてくれるともっと嬉しかった。

ストーリーは絵本のような感じで、子供でも親しめそうな内容ですが、その割にはセリフによる言葉の説明の比重が多くて、もっと感覚的にだけ伝える方向に思い切った方が良かったかもしれないと、少し惜しい気もしました。

Ужасная поддержка клава-мыши (в моём геймпаде очень невовремя сели батарейки). Растянутый сюжет. Количество диалогов можно было сокртатить раза в 3. В целом никому не советую в это играть, независимо от возраста. Не, я понимаю, что авторы хотели показать этой игрой, что инвалиды такие же люди, как и все. Но сделали они это как-то своеобразно. Видимо, игру делали люди формой Т

Interesting experience honestly. It clearly shows that It was made by Keita Takahashi with It's charm, personally I really liked how It presents each chapter as a TV show. Although I can understand that It's a little bit slow and could feel like a chore to some. The story was fine, I get how they attempted to give a possitive message In these times. Good soundtrack aswell might I add.

My main negatives are: 1- Some camera angles on free roam, It can get a bit janky. 2- The food minigames are very RNG dependent for me to be grinding those achievements, and In the "breakout" minigame the sensitivity Is way too high at least on default settings.

Currently 35% off at the time of posting I believe It's worth It If you're into either cozy games, more story focused experiences, want to support uvula LLC or have a child in the age range of the protagonist

I can't talk about any particular touching moment without spoiling any of the surprise so I will summarize in one remark:
The theme of the game is that you (yes you) are The Perfect Shape (To Be Loved). The game explores this earnestly, with a playfulness you haven't been able to allow yourself to embrace since before you were a teen. Play this game.

absolute delight of a game. wholesome and sweet and cheesy and quirky and fun. as a person with developed disabilities, i extra appreciated the representation in the game and the way it was approached. also the songs ARE SO GOOD. ♪ my name is giraffe~~~ ♪

main downside was the fixed camera angles in free roaming mode that made it hard to navigate the open world, and the controller sensitivity was a tad janky and difficult at times, which ironically adds to the disability metaphor but makes the game not as enjoyable as it could be. this is unfortunate since it meant i wasn't as motivated to explore the open world outside of story mode.

i otherwise really enjoyed my time with the characters and the worldbuilding and silly sense of humor. 8/10. WE ARE THE PERFECT SHAAAPEE ♪

i'm so bummed this game has sold so poorly that Keita Takahashi might have to leave game development, because it's great! (on the other hand, if i hadn't heard about it doing so poorly, i probably wouldn't have played it until much later, if ever, so you win some and you lose some!)

i think the ideal audience for it is probably young teens, given that it starts on the protagonist's thirteenth birthday, but even 30 years past that i still loved it a lot. it's a really sweet story about living and thriving as a disabled person, and while some of the difficulties are glossed over (how does my dog get a shirt over my head?!) there are also lots of clever accommodations that it does show, and that indeed turn out to be quite important! it's whimsical enough that i think people who would be turned off by a more realistic portrayal of disability still might give it a chance, and the strange places the plot goes are i think perfectly appropriate for the age range i think it's targeting, and not so dissimilar to the way some autistic people find comfort in the idea that we might have been considered changelings in premodern times, regardless of whether or not that's actually true.

anyway, i simply can't recommend this game strongly enough, it's an utter delight just like everything Takahashi puts his stamp on.

我實在是太喜歡這個製作人的創意跟想法了！當初就是被塊魂的整體設計、遊戲性、音樂性給吸引，所以這款遊戲我也是手刀購買，音樂果然是跟以前一樣優秀好聽！整個遊戲的完成度（以獨立工作室遊戲來說算非常精緻了）及質感也是非常好！

但最致命的問題就是遊戲非常無聊......節奏緩慢以外，剛開局1個小時都在做重複的事（刷牙、洗臉、換衣服、吃早餐），還沒到中間我就有點沒耐心玩了。

或許製作人就是想讓玩家體驗慢生活的感覺？
但我原本期待的也是類似塊魂那樣腦動大開的創意遊戲......

例如英國團隊做的「Thank Goodness You're Here! 」就是非常好的範例。
但我還是會期待製作人的下一款遊戲的，請繼續加油！！！

It is a pretty special game, but in strange way.

I've been pretty intrigued by the premise - and it's made by Katamari Damacy makers? Sounds good, so I tried it out.

I thought it would be a set of minigames or something, but it's more of an adventure slice of life story, which I didn't really expect but it was nice.
I liked a lot of aspects in this game - style is good, visuals are simple and nice, giraffe people are wonderful, I liked dressing up the character however I wish... but I think that's it.

As I went deeper into the story, it started feeling more and more padded with weird, long and tedious dialogue. Almost like a poorly made anime would - that's best I could describe it. It was quite a chore to get through the last couple chapters of the game, I almost couldn't stand reading anything they say, in part because it *seemed* like it's a very mechanical and straightforward translation from Japanese.

It seems like an all age game but writing seemed very child education book-ish. I also really didn't like some of the voice soundbytes used when characters speak or laugh, or cry - laughter and cry especially because it starts a new sound of it very quickly and it's super annoying until you skip to a next dialogue line. Semi-fixed camera approach is interesting but seems very difficult to execute, because it's not really comfortable and even a bit disorienting at times.

Well, all in all it was nice in some moments and had a few sweet surprises, but maybe it would work just as good as a little one season show.

Wasn't sure what to expect going in since all I knew was that the guy who made Katamari (Keita Takahashi) had a direct hand in it's creation. I was pleasantly surprised though. While I think this game is aimed at a younger audience than myself, the writing, story, and characters are still very charming and heartful. Since this is more of a story based game, the gameplay is nothing groundbreaking but works for what it is. I did quite enjoy the music, especially the vocal ones.

Overall, I can recommend this game to those looking for a chill story driven game with that whimsical charm that Katamari has.

I only played this because it's the recent creation of Keita Takahashi (Katamari Damacy), who has had the single largest impact on my artstyle/creative output that I can think of.

It is a bad video game haha. There are moments that are cute and the whole thing is pretty lovingly Japanese in its quirkiness which is nice bonus but I cannot recommend this to anyone lol. At its best it is a walking simulator, but at its worst, the last two levels essentially play themselves (barring pressing the A button to advance dialogue).

Like I said it's cute and I will continue to stan but even I can't really defend this haha I got very little out of it

Interesting concept with the usual brand of humor and optimistic absurdism that is quintessential to Keita Takahashi directed games. The music is all A+. I loved the little nods to other Takahashi games. I think for some, the game may feel grindy or repetitive, but it also felt like it was trying (in my mind, successfully) to capture some of the feelings that arise from the daily challenges people with disabilities face.

It took complex concepts and reduced them to easily understandable, sweet, and quirky aspects to this game. While I think those concepts might go over the heads of some, it felt like a wholesome, strange attempt at disability respresentation.

To a T is a hard game to recommend. It is barely a game, and a lot of what it wants you to do is grindy and not explicitly 'fun'. But it has a certain charm about it, as much of this creator's work does, that is hard to deny. Also the opening and closing themes are absolute JAMS. If you don't mind a game being a tv-show, and if you don't mind that tv-show being a very slow-paced slice-of-life, then I DO recommend it. I was charmed by it, maybe you will be to.

Keita Takahashi delivers a new sweet, naïve adventure crafted with love, detail and care with multiple surprising interactions and mechanics, as well as a very varied level design, a top notch jazzy soundtrack, and a lot of very needed absurd humour. Really not sure about some directions the story takes that feel at least awkward to me, if not pretty annoying when it comes to adressing handicap issues. But at the same time I cannot not recommend the game, given how original and fresh it is ! I would absolutely love to see more stuff like this and I hope uvula get space and time to deliver similar original, surprising and funny experiences like to a T :)

This was a very fun and simple game, good for all ages with a sweet storyline. The controls and camera angles in some parts are not quite tuned to my taste, and I would have liked a compass or a minimap to help with navigating, but these issues were not enough to put me off from playing. The visuals are beautiful, and I will probably find myself saying "horta gorta" to my cat for a while.

Was für ein grandioses, durchgeknalltes Spiel. Ich hatte so viel Freude damit. Bei jedem Kapitel hab ich gespannt darauf gewartet, was jetzt als nächstes kommt, weil alles so außergewöhnlich war. Und ne wichtige Botschaft hatte das Ganze auch noch: Es ist gut, wenn nicht alles Perfekt ist. Denn niemand ist es und niemand kann danach streben. Sonst wäre es doch auch langweilig. Ebenso sollte man sich und andere so akzeptieren, wie man ist. Anders zu sein ist toll. <3

Super cozy game WTF.

Le jeu peut sembler uniquement mignon mais on peut y voir plusieurs niveau de lecture. To a T aborde des thèmes (tels que le harcèlement à l'école, les discriminations, la différence, l'amitié...) de manière assez légère et non prise de tête, et a également un côté déjanté (un personnage en T pose, le planement/vol dans les airs, les révélations étonnantes, ...).

La DA du jeu est vraiment jolie et change beaucoup des autres jeux que l'on peut trouver sur le marché avec un grain vraiment agréable.

Le gameplay est rapide à prendre en main. Certains mini-jeux ne sont pas si simple à réaliser parfaitement (en partie à cause de la traduction des touches manettes ou de la gestion de l'AZERTY qui n'est pas traduite).

Je souhaitais le finir à 100% mais certains succès vont prendre du temps. Notamment du fait qu'il y a énormément d'éléments à collectionner et le succès des crédits n'est pas facile du tout ! Parce que oui, les crédits ne sont pas de simples infos défilantes !!

Gros bémol pour moi : La caméra fixe qui donne à certains moments des points de vue.... pour le moins déroutant !

Mais je vous tester cela par vous même !

I really want to give this game a positive review, since I like the ideas and Keita Takahashi, but in it's current state this thing is barely playable. Poor optimization and the game will not stop either freezing or randmly crashing. Even after a patch the game is still full of bugs. Once the game is fixed I will change my review but only if it becomes fully playable.

To a T is certainly not the greatest game i've played this year, but i really liked my time with it. there's some rough patches here, and the gameplay left a lot to be desired, but by the end i realised this was just never meant to be that kind of the game. the overall message of acceptance was really nicely done in the last chapter of the game. You really can see the Katamari Damacy style shine through the whole game, from visuals to music to humour. I would definitely get this on discount, maybe not at full price

also i would not go into this expecting it to be a true adventure game. about half of it is cutscenes and dialogue, and each chapter is about 45 minutes to an hour long, jsyk

对于自己的体会方面没太多想说的。相比于正儿八经的游戏，更像是一部掺杂了小游戏的童话短剧。与其说是《to a T》的年龄定位对我有些尴尬，倒不如承认我自己的年龄对其有些尴尬。若要让我亲自体会，我太年长；而让我带着自己的孩子来玩，我又太年轻。

这部作品似乎就是给十二三岁、刚进青春期的孩子们写的——对自己抱有自信，不要取笑他人的特点，而自己的特点有可能不是缺点、而是优势。而对我而言，我年纪太大，很久以前便明白本作想要表达什么，很久以前就失去了那份异想天开的童趣；同时，我又年纪太小，身边没有一个合适年纪的晚辈可以在本作的夸张桥段面前发笑。

只能说... 本作的定位挺阖家的，我似乎并不是人家的受众。出于这种天马行空又不失童真的效果，给个好评吧。

总体不推荐。

最开始Demo吸引我的是动画式的分镜、两首治愈好听的插曲和带有淡淡忧伤意味的青春期叙事。它的玩法并没有很大的特色，魅力主要在于情感刻画细腻，氛围营造独特。当时玩完Demo我就陷入了它营造的那种动画感的忧伤叙事氛围里，狠狠感动，果断买了。

不过玩到一半，体验感就慢慢变差了。剧情走向不在我的预期之内，原本以为它会深入探讨校园歧视与暴力这个话题，结果只是浅尝辄止，最终落到了“接纳不完美的自我”这一主题。有点隔靴搔痒，感觉不是我期待的故事。

有些不得不提的明显缺陷：固定视角很不方便，找npc找的我反复看地图。玩法也很单一，本来就薄弱的情节支撑不起这么单调的交互，流程开始变得冗长乏味，让我昏昏欲睡。

建议想玩的体验下Demo就够了，Demo还是不错的。

Extremely funny and gorgeous game with a good heart. It feels simultaneously retro and completely novel and unique, "PS3 aesthetic" gets thrown around a lot but it does legitimately feel like what Keita Takahashi would have made if he worked at SCEJ in the mid to late 2000s instead of Namco, a classic style of gimmicky cinematic adventure game where the simple act of interacting with and exploring its world and story is so inherently joyful that it's hard for me to really say anything negative about it. If you like adventure games and don't mind ones that are relatively light on real mechanics in lieu of just presenting that kind of interactive space, and enjoy Keita Takahashi's art and sense of humor, there's really no reason not to play this.

I'm sad to report I really don't enjoy this game. The long and short of it boils down to having no interesting mechanics with replay value and no meaningful story content.

You play this kid's day to day, getting dressed in the morning, washing up, walking to school, sitting through classes sometimes, and each of these activities is accompanied by a mini game. The problem is these mini games aren't much fun, and you will never want to do them more than once or twice.

Story wise, it's that age old cookie cutter bully plot where the protagonist has something about him that makes him different, bullies pick on him, kid finds he has some heroic power and saves the day, and now people no longer think he's a loser. The game tries to pass this message that you're wonderful the way you are, but the story is saying that you're only worthy of respect if you do something supernatural. It's fundamentally at odds, and it has no real depth or nuance.

Lastly, the game is way too restrictive. There's a small town in the game, but instead the game controlling in 1st or 3rd person, it has a fixed camera that aligns itself perpendicular to the street you're on, so you're usually always facing directly to a house 90 degrees away of where you're walking. It's very disorienting and unfun and feels like a waste of assets. Dressing up also feels restrictive, with only a portion of your wardrobe being available most of the time during school days.

I want to like this game, the art style is adorable, but playing it just bores me.

I will play any game Keita Takahashi makes until the end of time, but wow did he not make this one for me. It’s nice for there to be a game both completable by infants and of relative quality, but this comes at the cost of shutting out your (non-parent) adult playerbase. I think Numberblocks is quality children’s entertainment, but pigs will fly through a frozen hell before I consider putting an episode on for myself. To a T is much the same.

Marked as a positive review because I would feel too bad clicking the thumbs down button; if there was a mixed option I'd pick that.

Let me start by saying I would EXCLUSIVELY recommend this to a younger audience, around ages 10 to 15 give or take. I can easily see a younger teen me sinking some hours in this just playing around, but as an adult I struggled to stay engaged with this and cannot in good faith recommend this to an adult.
That being said, I think it IS a good game with a very sweet message; that it's okay to be different and that you're perfect just the way you are. This would make a fantastic gift to a child or teen, especially one with something "different" about them such as a physical disability, but I don't think the average adult would find this engaging. Review that said this would do better as a children's cartoon is spot on, it basically IS that but in video game form.

Pros:
- very nice art style; very cute and cartoonish.
- music is great, as usual.
- main character is very customizable. Choose their name, skin tone, hair, hair color, clothing, etc. You can buy new clothes + find new hair styles & colors. You can also name and dress up the dog too.
- a very sweet story where you essentially play as a teen with a physical disability & navigate their day-to-day life.

Cons:
- minor glitches. Experienced double prompt overlay as well as getting stuck on ledges when using the flying mechanic (you can cancel out of this).
- fixed perspective can cause the camera & controls to be janky sometimes. This is particularly prevalent when using the flying mechanic as it sometimes makes the camera jump around. By far the worst part was during an episode where you control the dog and are made to do a platforming puzzle; the camera just loses it's mind when trying to position yourself. Overall I didn't have a lot of issues with the fixed camera, but it does glitch out occasionally.
- This game feels slow and has a lot of "filler" stuff. After like episode 4, I just couldn't stop thinking about how much I just wanted to be done. It did become more interesting towards the end, but i think it sucks when you're like half way through and just want it to be over.

Overall.... If you're a parent and you have a child / young teen? They'd probably sink some time into this.
But you as a like 30 year old? I'd probably pass.

It's a very innovative game. If you want to learn Game Dev, this is an excellent case-study.

It uses fixed camera angles to free up the right stick. This mostly works, but I've wanted to look around sometimes, and not been able to. I'd probably fix this by adding a zoom-out feature, or similar to dialogue, have a button that swaps between a few camera angles. Alternatively, fine tune the camera a bit more. I want to make a spell-drawing game, and freeing up the right-stick for that would be great.

The inverse kinematics on Teen's hands as they touch the wall, the care put into every one of Teen's movements, the incredibly advanced breakfast and teeth brushing. It adds a lot of charm, and makes me look forward to it. There's a dash of chaos here. When you spit out the water after brushing, each droplet is simulated, making a beautiful fountain. When you pour cereal and milk, they spill all over (I'd have loved it if the milk splashed when pouring cereal). It would have been great to see the inverse kinematics work with walls. I wish a bit more of this care was also put into the outside world and can't help comparing it with Earthbound or Undertale's worlds, which seem very vibrant in comparison.

The movement is dull, and the world isn't interesting enough to make up for it. To fix this, I would add physics to the bicycle, which would make the bike a lot more fun going up or downhill. Also the invisible walls aren't great. Kids can and do go everywhere. The clothing options in shops are quite boring, and I wish there was some more creativity here.

The biggest issue is that it's lacking polish and content. The world initially seems to be filled with wonder, but is lacking actual substance. If a more realistic world is the goal, maybe it should be a bit smaller, or movement should be faster.

In to a T, you play as a 13-year-old whose body is stuck in a T-pose. I liked the story of to a T, and I loved being helped by the dog. Also, the character customization options are great! That said, the story is very linear, and you are limited on when you can explore the town and visit the shops. Also, I do not like the camera because you cannot rotate it, therefore, it can be hard to see coins and know where you are going without continuously checking the map. Despite that, I do think to a T is a good game.

序盤はこのT字ポーズでの日常生活の困難さにフォーカスされる。
たとえば、主人公は毎朝のルーティンとして、着替え→トイレ→洗顔→食事→歯磨きと各種タスクをこなすのだが、これらの一挙手一投足をプレイヤーはいちいち操作していかねばならない。これがめんどうくさい。用を足そうにも腕がつっぱったままでは便座のフタをあげるのも、歯磨き粉をチューブから押し出すのもままらない。介助犬的な役回りの愛犬の力を借りて、なんとかクリアできる。
さらには、学校に行けば「ヘンなポーズの子」といじめっこたちから揶揄される。
主人公はポジティブでおおらかな性格ではあるけれど、それでもいじめには応えるようであまり登校したがっていない様子だ。

いってしまえば、『To a T』の主題はこうした「他人との違い」をそれぞれ受け入れ、ありのままの営みを肯定していこうね、といったようなことだ。そのテーマは随所に顔を覗かせている。街の住民たちはみんなどこかヘンテコであるし、なんなら半分くらい動物だったりもする。『塊魂』の高橋慶太らしいオフビートなキャラクターたちが、よく物語にマッチしているといえるだろう。

ストーリーテリング面でも上記の操作ギミックに加えて、エピソードによっては別のキャラに視点が変わり、世界の別の側面が見えてくることもある。これもまた他人の目線で立つことで世界を豊かに捉えようとする試みといえるだろう。
先述した日常のルーティンもタスクごとにサボったりしてもいいようにできているし、登校時の制服も女子用男子用どちらもクローゼットに用意されていて、毎回切り替えられる。ちなみに主人公自身の性別は設定されていない。

『To a T』は、海外のレビューではしばしば「マイノリティや身体障害者についてのメタファーではないか」と指摘される。作者の高橋慶太自身はインタビューなどでは「作ってるときは特定の属性を意識してはいなかった」としつつ、より普遍的な話だというようなことを言っている（「他人と違うことによっていじめをうける」体験は本人の記憶かららしい）けれど、まあ、プレイする方としては、人がほとんど意識せずにこなしている日常的な動作にちょっとした困難が強調されていく、というのはやはりマイノリティ的なものを想起せざるを得ない。
そういう意味では教育的な内容をあまりこれみよがしでない形で語る、NHK教育テレビ的な寓話であるともいえる。

訴えられているテーマは善く、そのテーマにそってプレイや物語も能くデザインされている。だったら、おもしろいゲームなのではないか、といえば、残念ながらあまりそうはなっていない。
まず高橋慶太独特のオフビートさ、それも90年代から00年代にかけての古くさいゆるさにテイストが合うかという問題がある。主にキャラやテキストに見られるこのゆるさが、5時間から6時間の物語に耐えきれているかといえば、どうだろう。正直、ときたまイライラさせられた。
また、随所に挟まるミニゲームもほとんどがあってもなくてもいいような味気ないもので、悪い意味での緩慢さに拍車をかけている。
なんというか、全体的にダルく、薄味なのだ。もちろん、この味が心地よいというプレイヤーもいるだろう。そのポテンシャルを感じさせるという点では他人に「オススメ」できる出来ではある。ほんに、ユーモアというのは排他的なのだと痛感させられますな。

本作でいちばんよかったのは、各エピソードの終わりに流れるエンディングムービーと歌だ。劇中に出てくるサンドイッチ屋のキリンについての曲なのだけれど、これを歌っているのがなんとレベッカ・シュガー。
そう、名作カートゥーン『スティーブン・ユニバース』で知られるアニメーション作家兼シンガーソングライターのレベッカ・シュガーだ。彼女のメロウな歌声と、高橋慶太の作詞した歌詞、そして愉快で愛らしいアニメーションがあいまって、これだけで2000円分のもとは取った気になれる。曲単体でもリリースされているので、Spotifyで毎日聴いてます。

あと、パブリッシャーのAnnapurnaは最近スタッフが全員辞めて新しいスタジオを設立するといったお家騒動が起きていたのだけれど、このゲームはつつがなくリリースされたようで、よかったね。

While 'To a T' feels like a more conventional adventure game in comparison to the experimental sandboxes of Keita Takahashi's previous work, it still inspires that same playful charm that made Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy so engaging.

The game is structured into bite-sized episodes following 'Teen', a student who is stuck in a perpetual 'T' pose. The game has a similar structure and gameplay to Millennium Kitchen's 'Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale'. Each episode follows a day in Teen's life as the world around them becomes a little stranger as the narrative unfolds, resulting in a mini-game or QTE before the episode is capped off by the earworm that is the 'Giraffe Song'. Between episodes, Teen is free to explore the dense town, engaging with the wild cast of characters that inhabit it... Although, the only character you will want to interact with is Frogavino. Ultimately the gameplay takes a back seat to the charm, atmosphere, and writing.

The writing is surprisingly strong, especially for a game whose main theme of 'acceptance' is so blatantly spelled out through the trailers and lyrics of the game's opening number, 'PerfecT Shape'. The game subverts this by using development concepts as framing devices such as 'T-Posing' and 'Greyboxing' to weave its story and gameplay through in ways you wouldn't expect, let alone for games to even acknowledge. This isn't to say that 'To a T' does anything groundbreaking with these concepts, but it shows Uvula playing to the strengths of the medium in a way that I hope to see them expand upon in the future.

A lot of the game's charm comes from its warm art style and engaging environment. Riding the train between stops, exploring the woods on the hillside, and discovering beautiful vistas through the telescopes. Engaging with the environment is fun; however, traversing the town isn't. Traversal feels clunky due to Teen being locked to pre-designed paths combined with awkward fixed camera angles. Teen's main movement ability, the spin-jump, feels great but often lands you outside walkable areas or into invisible walls. At worst it's frustrating; at best it's just slow, though the small town size keeps this to only a mild annoyance in an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Despite the rough edges, 'To a T' delivers what is otherwise an enjoyable experience with infectious charm, strong writing, and catchy musical numbers, to the point you'll catch yourself humming 'PerfecT Shape' or the 'Giraffe Song' throughout the day.

as a long standing fan of keita takahashi's work in katamari, im very sad to report that i did not like to a t at all

deeply uninspired from a gameplay standpoint, constantly fighting either the controls or the camera in a game that has barely any mechanics at all. very glitchy and very poorly optimized, i experienced multiple severe bugs during my playthrough without really doing anything special. it is also incredibly repetitive in its structure and very awkward to play since youre constantly constrained in what the game lets you do even with its limited mechanics. i couldnt care at all about any of the characters or the story, everything falls extremely flat. wish i could say this wouldve worked better as a tv series but not even that is salvageable

In questo gioco impersonate un omino che ha il nome e l'aspetto che decidete voi all'inizio, attraverso un sogno di un tornado che vi insegue, all'inizio le capigliature e altro sono molto limitati, ma poi, parlando con gli abitanti della città e prendendo una missione apposita alla spiaggia, avrete la possibilità di aumentarne il numero. Il gioco vi mette ai comandi di un omino a forma di T. Idea carina con una storia di bullismo dietro, ma realizzazione tecnica pessima con bug e quant'altro. Fortunatamente una patch uscita a fine mese ha bilanciato un pò le cose, personalmente è si carino ma dovete avere il mood giusto per giocarlo, poi, i bulli che si ravvedono dopo due secondi mah.. Do voto positivo con 2 avvertenze, la prima, almeno con lo sconto del 50%. Secondo, gli achievement sono barbosi, specie quello di acquistare tutti i quasi 600 e passa vestiti divisi in 5 negozi due in città uno nel bosco e due sulla spiaggia. E il vostro personaggio può a malapena conservare 99999 monete non di più. Ottimo che sia sottotitolato in italiano. E la sigla iniziale è divertente, ma sentirla ad ogni capitolo è un pò stufevole. (Fortuna che si può saltare.) non lo si poteva fare nel capitolo dopo l'end game, prima della patch di fine mese.

Per finire, volete un titolo carino e non di più, con grafica adatta allo scopo ma troppo miiesca. Questo potrebbe fare a caso vostro, volete un titolo più serio graficamente parlando ? Passate bellamente oltre.

Absolutely loved this game!!

I don't usually post reviews, but i really enjoyed my time here! To a T is such a vibrant, authentic and "feel good" game 🌟
Everything is colorful, characters are so fun and unique in many ways, all lovable! They are both so goofy and so real haha

The story gets crazier and i kept on being surprised by very funny and unexpected stuff and mechanics :)
The music is also GREAT and i loved the "episode" format!

Honestly the game made me laugh out loud, contemplate very specific details and even cry 🥲 Very glad i could play it, I really tried to play slowly to spend more time in it, and will surely go back exploring the town and 100% everything haha

The game has some bugs from time to time but they are mostly short and visual only, nothing game-breaking or annoying so it was ok!

... Because its not about being '*:.+PERFECT*+:", but rather enjoying all the little things 🟨🌻

I think if you have seen and heard the theme song for this game you'll understand if you'll enjoy it. It's not the silly control scheme game that I assumed it was, ala Octodad, but instead is a light hearted romp through a cartoon town with good morals. I loved this game SO MUCH! So wholesome and funny!
I really commend the writing on this game for handling topics such as bullying, accessibility, prejudice and even gender neutrality so naturally. It also takes a lot of its strength from being episodic, which allowed for some clever subversiveness of the format and a sense of unpredictability that rekindled a child's sense of curiosity in me, wondering what would happen next.

But all that said, if I had any sort of constructive criticism, it'd be the in the gameplay department. I feel like there was a missed opportunity with the spinning mechanic as means to interact with its world and people. The more I explored the town, the more I kept wishing for the sort of experimental and chaotic nature from Wattam to do. And look, I'll admit this is all wishful thinking. I mean, I can only imagine the hardships and constraints that happened during development and I'd be remiss not to recognize that maybe, just maybe, this was out of their scope, but it's just that I liked this game so much that I hoped there would be more to do in it, you know? But that also made me think: maybe the game was never intended to be any more than that. And you know what? That is completely fine too, because despite all that, I still had a wonderful time experiencing it! Heck, I even bought the soundtrack on Apple Music, because it's that good and I wanted to show my support (dog deTecTive is easily my most favorite track)!

Difficult to recommend this to the people that would be the first to play this (i.e., people who know the dev and expect the same vibes as Katamari).

On one side, the game is gorgeous in style and is very kid-friendly (who I assume are the target audience). On the other side though, the gameplay is very shallow and the story corresponds more to 8 small vignettes that are loosely connected. There is very little replayability after going through the 8 main episodes (where, by the way, 90% of the gameplay is just walking from A to B).

This game has a very, very sweet sentiment, but... it's often just not very fun. I don't think it needed the boldness of Katamari, but the whimsy is lost on a big chunk of this game. I really love elements of it - Giraffe and her song are extremely charming to me for instance - but other elements feel wildly mundane and repetitive to where I question if the targeted younger audience would even enjoy playing it.

The bigger issue that makes it hard to recommend comes from the very clunky navigation, bug issues, and optimization. I had multiple bugs that required me to quit out of the game entirely, and one instance where the game said it saved, but strangely did not save my story progress, just my money and purchases. Navigation in the game prioritizes a cinematic view over one that helps the player get a sense of direction. It was hard to know which way I was facing because the locked camera kept flipping around before crosswalks and in front of large structures. It leads to a game that's pretty to watch, but frustrating to play. Even when you're able to navigate the world, you are mostly greeted with collectable coins and shops rather than a town you can interact with and grow to love. If all the bugs and optimization were suddenly fixed overnight, I don't think that would "fix" the overall experience for me.

It's a shame, I think the reason many people find themselves writing a lot about this game is that there's enough good stuff there for people to SEE the vision, but not enough to really FEEL it. Despite it's issues, I can see the love poured into the game, but the issues are still harder to ignore when it comes to games that lean on player experience.

Oh, Keita Takahashi, you never fail to make me smile! Every chapter of this story is loaded with little bits of absurd joy and the underlying message of being great just the way you are is really well executed in spite of the relentless silliness. The gameplay does take a backseat to the narrative, but what's there is fun and, as long as you're looking for a good time, you'll have one.
