C’est clairement un jeu assez underground, et honnêtement, il mériterait d’être bien plus connu. Je l’ai déjà poncé une première fois sur Switch, puis je l’ai refait sur PC tellement l’expérience m’avait marqué.
Déjà, le pixel art est incroyable. C’est exactement le genre de direction artistique que j’adore : sombre, détaillée, et vraiment immersive. Le jeu en lui-même est très propre, rien à redire techniquement, tout fonctionne comme il faut, ce qui permet de se plonger complètement dans l’histoire.
Et justement, le scénario… c’est clairement le point fort. Sans spoiler, on est sur quelque chose de très psychédélique, avec des délires mentaux, une ambiance malsaine, et une narration qui te met mal à l’aise du début à la fin. Le jeu peut être assez violent, autant physiquement que psychologiquement, donc ce n’est pas forcément pour tout le monde.
Mais si vous aimez les expériences un peu glauques, dérangeantes, et marquantes, c’est une vraie pépite. C’est le genre de jeu qui te laisse une impression durable après l’avoir terminé.
Personnellement, j’ai vraiment adoré, au point d’hésiter encore à le refaire une troisième fois. Je recommande chaudement.

特筆すべきは、その残酷描写の美しさだろう。
ピクセルアートという記号的な表現でありながら、発狂した人々がもたらす惨劇―天井から吊るされた死体、血文字、異形の幻覚――が生々しく、そしてどこか芸術的にさえ見える。この「可愛いドット絵」と「エグい内容」のギャップが、プレイヤーの精神をじわじわと削ってくる。

Hikaye birazcık cezbetse de yazıların puntosu ve oyunun akışı biraz oldu bittiye geldiği için açıkçası bir süre sonra sıkmaya başladı. Bulmacalar çok zor değil. Sadece finalde başarımlar diyaloğa göre geldiği için orada biraz tüyo alınabilir onun dışında diyalogların oyuna son kısım hariç bir etkisi yok. Piksel bulmaca oyunlarını seviyorsanız bir göz atın derim.

I was very drawn in by the premise, and deeply disappointed by pretty much everything other than art and soundtrack. Dialogue is occasionally funny, plot is interesting but never really... expands into anything greater than what it presents at the beginning.
Great little game! The hiding mechanic wasn't over used. The story was interesting and well told. The art was great. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Some frustrating moon logic puzzles
Nice little adventure game, it has a really old school vibe with most movement being scrollable left or right. I would have preferred a point and click style game, but you get used to it. The story is okay, with a touch of humor, especially in dialogues. You are a lowly lab worker and something has gone terribly wrong, and it's up to you to figure it out. It's not overly long, about a weekend sitting, so try to get it on discount.
EASTER EGG: did anyone else step into the elevator and suddenly find themselves in a 3D sequence in which the famous carpet pattern from Stephen Kings "The Shining" was visible?????? It only lasted from a few moments. ANYONE????
Ambiance bien pesante et oppressante, ça fait bien le boulot côté horreur. La DA est crado comme il faut, c'est top. Par contre, côté point-and-click, punaise c'est vraiment à la ramasse, JPP. Ca manque de réflexion sur l'expérience lors des phases de dialogue (pardon mais les lignes de dialogues qui sont en haut et les réponses qui apparaissent en bas…). Et j'avoue que les énigmes entre objets parfois je comprenais pas trop. Mais ça se fait bien.
Un peu déçue par le rebondissement à la moitié du jeu. Oui bon… Un peu mid.

1. Иногда встречались крайне дурацкие загадки в духе русских квестов - абсолютно нелогичные и неинтуитивные. Рекомендую сразу смотреть в прохождение, когда почувствуете что застряли.
2. Неровные и слегка затянутые диалоги. Иногда встречалась совершенно неуместная грязная брань.
3. Хороший пиксельный арт.
4. Посредственный саунд. В одной из локаций постоянно давил на мозг резкими нагнетающими звуками.
5. Внезапно интересный сюжет, который пытается выйти за рамки шаблонов, и играет с реальностью в духе Ф. Дика.
6. Небольшая продолжительность, что тоже запишу в плюс.
Все же рекомендую ознакомиться, но не по фулпрайсу.

Short, sweet, and very interesting. The pixel art is fantastic and the overall tone of the game is great. Love the small jokes and references sprinkled throughout the game and the story was a trip.

My guess is that the reason most people have not completed this game (around 75% not completed) is due to the complexity without context when solving puzzles. The game drags you through a lab that has multiple layers, a slow elevator that you have to constantly use, and items that you collect without much reason. I recommend it with caution. The game artist did a great job, the plot is decent, but parts of the story don't translate well for fun game play and it often felt like a walking simulator in an office maze. I love these types of games, but there were too many sections where I needed a walkthrough - as some parts of action and dialogue options don't make sense, this game is extremely difficult to beat without a walkthrough. Towards the end of the game, I followed a Lets Play walkthrough to get it over with. Opinion - it's a good, confusing game that was worth a couple dollars to spend an evening, but its not one I'm likely to play again. It needed more context as to what the character needed to do / where to go, and a map / navigation or different layout to not feel so lost in the lab maps. Could use more dog Stan moments, dog Stan is best.
This was a fun game, great story, and the right amount of gameplay mechanics to keep you engaged for a point and click adventure.

Steward deberá descubrir qué ha salido mal y qué ha provocado semejante desastre, lidiando con alucinaciones y tratando de escapar de las instalaciones, con la única ayuda de Shelly, una compañera que parece conservar la cordura.

The Long Reach es un juego que gira en torno su narrativa y al desarrollo intercalado de acontecimientos que irán revelando progresivamente la trama, así como diversas conversaciones donde podremos escoger entre varias opciones de diálogo. La ambientación es su punto fuerte, usando efectos sonoros y juegos de luces y sombras que nos mantendrán en tensión durante gran parte de la historia. A nivel jugable, deberemos explorar diferentes escenarios, tanto dentro del centro de investigación como fuera de este. Continuamente tendremos que ir cumpliendo pequeños objetivos para avanzar en la historia, buscando objetos que tendremos que usar, solos o combinados, allá donde sean necesarios. Para ello contaremos con un inventario donde gestionaremos los distintos ítems. Tendremos que prestar atención a cada detalle, buscando elementos con los que interaccionar, generalmente resaltados en amarillo al acercarnos. Además, el juego incluye varias notas y emails que enriquecen el lore del juego, puzzles sencillos y situaciones peliagudas donde tendremos que escondernos o escapar de ciertos individuos. A nivel gráfico nos encontramos con un trabajo excelente, un pixelart muy detallado, cuidado y una iluminación bien planteada para resaltar, o esconder, elementos clave.

The Long Reach es un juego sorprendentemente bueno, que te mete de lleno en una historia intrigante, tensa y que te mantendrá pegado a la silla de principio a fin. La trama se va desgranando poco a poco, los gráficos están muy bien trabajados, la ambientación genera una sensación constante de peligro (a pesar de ser un pixelart) y el juego nos rompe los esquemas con alucinaciones, personajes con distintos grados de locura o giros bruscos de los acontecimientos. Sin lugar a dudas, un título que merece la pena probar, especialmente a los amantes del terror que busquen una experiencia distinta a los típicos juegos en primera persona. Se puede jugar bien en Steam Deck y además, no es especialmente largo, pudiendo completarse en unas 4-5 horas.

Another example of this artstyle leading to the most interesting stories. A dark, interesting plot with puzzles that arent *too* stupid though they are, at times, misleading. For example, the "Red Flag" should be changed to another color, it gives the impression youre supposed to lure another person or thing with the color rather than its actual use and the Wire Cutters need to be replaced with "Bolt Cutters" because the player will immediately look for wires rather than any item that can be cut, like a padlock. Solid 9/10 experience though, definitely give it a shot, even if its not on sale.

The art is great. Some of the characters look samey, though, because of the thought-out character designs, you don't really mix them up. I could see this being an issue if the game had a much bigger cast, but as it is now, it works. The art style also looks simplistic but really fits the vibe - gives "The Thing" vibes.
[h2]Music[/h2]
Loved most of the music (that demented jingle bells song is stuck in my head), but there's an odd issue where the music loops incorrectly. I'm gonna assume it's because they made it as a full finished song rather than a loopable version for the game.
[h2]Story[/h2]
The story is good, my main gripes with it being:
Occasionally you'll get to choose between "♥♥♥♥ you", "♥♥♥♥ you really hard" and "Hmm, I see what you're saying but, ♥♥♥♥ you" as dialogue options - not a lot of variety. The dialogue also seems to not really effect the story that much, at some points the game actually just flat-out ignores what you chose and uses it's own secret third option. At one point they use it the dialogue in a puzzle, but it still has one preset outcome. Outside of this one puzzle, I genuinely see no point of having dialogue options.
The story also felt a bit rushed. At one point your character seems to just do a complete 180 from his previous life, but it turns out it's only been two or three days. It gave the impression of being months, minimum weeks.
Not a lot of worldbuilding nor explanation was done behind the events that happen ingame. Though, to be fair, it would've been unnecessary and it's just me wanting more content.
On the upside though, they do what I've never seen before in media - let go of the whole "hurr durr good guys don't lie" shtick and actually lie to the bad guys to get their way. It was genuinely refreshing and lead to a really interesting interaction.
[h2]Gameplay[/h2]
The puzzles are the most McGyver ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I have ever seen. At one point you use the corpse of a guy who hung himself and christmas lights to distract a crazy guy and trap him in a room. At this point in the game, I had found a needle, a full pharmacy and an alarm that stunned the guy for a second - I really thought I could just use sedatives on him or OD him on something, but nope, abstract puzzle instead.
Following up on the previous issue - at one point we do end up sedating the crazy guy (who at this point we 100% know killed two other people), but instead of finishing him off or anything, we just beg him not to wake up. I get that most people would rather go their lives without killing another person, but this is an active danger who just killed two of your co-workers.
There's also a dialogue puzzle in the game, which was really neatly done. Essentially you interrogate someone, but each time you reach a dead end, you reset the interrogation, but keep everything you know. This was genuinely interesting to play through and a really great idea.
Lastly, more of a nitpick than an actual issue - WE SHOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO USE THE GUN. You finally get a gun in the game and you think "♥♥♥♥ yeah, time for some revenge", but literally moments after it's just joinked away from you. What's even the point in picking it up then?

It's a good game. It didn't do anything particularly memorable, but also didn't ♥♥♥♥ up in any major way. As an indie game, I'd rate it a solid 7/10. As an indie game that I got for around 1 euro on sale, 9/10.

Lo mejor de este juego es su trama y los chistes conscientes de si mismo. El primer final es bueno y el segundo es medio seco y aburrido aún así es un extra y no esta mal. Los puzzles si me costaron un poco pero quizás eso es algo bueno.
Grafikleri güzel, müzikleri ve hikayesi fena değil. Yeni bir şeyler denenmeye çalışılmış, kısmen başarılıda olunmuş bence ama oynanış süresini uzatmak için yapılan şeyler oyunu benim için bir noktadan sonra çok sıkıcı bir hale getirdi ve dayanamadım daha fazla.

Half half. I enjoyed the game a lot bc the story hooked me from the beggining and the ambientation was really good, even though the map was like a little maze bc all the doors and halways looked almost the same and 2 puzzles were trial and error bc there was no clues about’em but, after seeing the two endings I felt I needed something more.

It's a cute little indie horror adventure game. Puzzles are pretty simple, and the pixel art graphics look okay. The game doesnt take itself too seriously, and isnt really trying to be scary, which is fine by me.
The story and the atmosphere are strong enough to make you want to play to the end if you're into this sort of game.
Overall, the Long Reach is kinda mid. If you can get it for 2-3 euro it's probably worth a playthrough, but nothing about it really stands out.
Other 2D horror games like Devotion, Downfall, Cat Lady, etc. are far better.
This game is very clever with its plot, but it is undermined somewhat by the english characters speak. Everyone, mostly scientists, talk like teen boys. Although that sounds pretty annoying, it mostly didn't bother me because the game is really good.
The only other complaint was forcing inventory to the "I" key which just seems like a really weird decision. Yeah, the word "inventory" starts with i, but it would have been much less of a pain to play if I could just press space bar, tab, X or any other convienent key that wasn't already in use.

Una "aventura grafica" bien llevada y con una narrativa interesante, siento que el juego se cae a pedazos por momentos porque los puzzles son medio confusos, pero aun asi consigue ser interesante y su duracion no se hace tediosa, recomendado si gustan los juegos "extraños"

Hola aventureros! Este es un juego muy bueno y corto. Es una historia intrigante y muy coherente a cuestiones que transcurren a día de hoy. La ambientación y el arte son muy destacable. Es una aventura muy entretenida y tiene sus momentos de WoW! y se aprecia en estos días que son juegos extremadamente largos y descuidados. En conclusión: JUEGA Y DISFRUTA!

The Long Reach is a 2d pixel side scroller puzzle adventure horror with great animation and a decent story. The game play is nothing to rave about with the majority of the work being you walking back and forth across the map to retrieve objects; thank goodness you can run or else this would be a painfully slow game. The puzzles are basically you clicking on every highlighted object and seeing what fits, so nothing crazy. Not much replay value and even though you receive different voice lines to say, they all end up with the same endpoint which renders the difference in choices moot. The ending left me with more questions than answers and was anticlimactic, leaving me feeling dissatisfied. Still, it was a violent, gory and thought provoking experience that that took around 5 hours to 100%; I'd recommend.
I loved the art style and the intro. Absolutely jaw-dropped at the twist. I will say some of the puzzles are SUPER challenging (I may have used a walk through for some parts). Still a wonderful game and re-playable as well!
Who the hell makes a point-and-click adventure game for PC and then requires a controller?
I'm fine with controller support - it makes a lot of games better - but... it's a PC game where you cannot use the keyboard and mouse to control it. Why?
I usually play first person shooter games, or silly little cozy games, but a homie recommended this game to me to try out since it went on sale. I was humbled. It was suspenseful, and the plot & lore constantly built up with each decision you made, and the longer you played. Would definitely recommend if you wanted to try out a horror-game, but were nervous about doing so due to getting scared easily. May be hard to follow through some parts, but overall a good game if you like games with a solid character buildup & having to figure everything out for yourself.

The Long Reach is a short adventure game with horror elements and minor stealth game play. I like the more artsy moments but also enjoyed the gritty gore elements as well. There are a few neat storytelling tricks that I greatly appreciated and I'd recommend this for being played in Spooky Month (October) or around Christmas (the setting of the game). While there is stealth and horror, getting caught is avoidable as long as you hide properly. Death takes you back to an auto save. My only major complaint is that completion achievements did not trigger when playing across two sessions so it's possible that you need to play the game in one sitting to get all of the achievements.
Mixed. I almost quit because movement and running did not work properly, but I read someone's tip about also pressing 'w' to avoid the input lag / stuttering. After utilizing this workaround, I was able to complete the game. While the story is interesting, I cannot say I particular enjoyed the experience with the technical glitches and infrequent autosaves (only when using an item correctly / finding a solution, no manual option) severely hampering the fun.
The dialogue options seemed to only matter twice, the rest of the time just being filler / fluff.
Two achievements require re-launching the game and then they should trigger, if you are lucky. This small pixel narrative based game is engaging. It has a small runtime of a few hours so it certainly doesn't overstay its welcome. Put simply its an adventure game, the point and click match items style. Only there is some minor side scrolling and puzzles to work out that spread over rooms. There is a survival horror aspect to it as well, and the game doesn't do too badly at blending the two. Dialogue is often charming, as are the often dry comments while working through the puzzles, reminiscent of Broken Sword or Monkey Island. The graphics are often moody with specific ambient lighting and the story themes are kooky enough to hold your interest.
Not everything is perfect, some parts are clunky and the puzzles are either really easy or extremely abstract in their approach. If you're like me and dig a small short story wrapped in funky pixel style graphics you might be entertained by this as well.
E' carino finché dura, anche se non certo un capolavoro. Da acquistare in saldo.

I loved the story, the gameplay is okay, the object highlight feature is sometimes too dim to really see, it has some frustrating backtracking, puzzles are okay. What holds this game up is the story.

For some reason, this game came to my mind a long time after playing.
I remember the game having a decent atmosphere. I would have appreciated a little more freedom and I got stuck a couple of times, but overall I had a great time and I still remember big parts of the game quite clearly

This game is about 2-3 hours long, looks absolutely beautiful and only 25 % of the player made it to the end. I think this says enough about the game.
The Long Reach is on more of these games where I wish Steam would have a “neutral” opinion for reviews: This (not really) point and klick (since you have to use only the keyboard) horror-adventure as a great atmosphere and a nice little story, that I really liked.
BUT the world is a little bit shallow and the game mechanics are - like the theme of the game – a horror (*tadish*).
No really: It is mostly pick something up and use it elsewhere. Which is fine in general was, it not for the fact, that often elsewhere includes walking through hallways that all look kind of similar to get from A to B and if you then missed something you will have to walk back and get it etc. It is not very entertaining. Especially since some of the riddles were not obvious to me and – as far as I can tell – different to other games of this kind there are no real hints. I do not want to be taken by the hand but I would like to get a clue now and then if what I am trying is close but not correct (for example
[spoiler]mixing components for a serum which is obvious but which requires a machine and cannot be done by “simply” using the syringe on both components which to mee seemed the logical (first) try

In other cases, I felt that the game was simply misleading ([spoiler] you are told for example that you should not pray in the locker of a coworker – then you find the key to said locker and now can open it. Here a clearer wording like “I think I should not prey… also its locked…” would have been fair
[/spoiler]) To be quite frank I started using a guide for some parts since I wanted to experience the story. And either I missed something or some of the puzzles have not hints at all ([spoiler] especially the safe and the Christmas-tree-bells [/spoiler]) and you would simply have to figure out the combination if you do not use a guide…
Also: The world is nice, but a little mor efforted would have allowed to put in some more background, worldbuilding and funin. It seemed a little like slightly above the bare minimum to me and this is a shame because some more descriptions and jokes would have done the trick…
All in all, great potential, great atmosphere, nice story but to frustrating I would say.

I got this game because it seemed like it had a compelling narrative and interesting "point-and-click" esque style of play. I quickly ended up feeling like I was playing the game just to beat it - not to have fun.

Crap game. Non-intuitive. Impossible. Rip off.
Qué PUT0 juegazo. Muy cortito pero la historia está desarrollada con un muy buen ritmo. Los personajes se sienten vivos al igual que sus conversaciones. No es el típico juego de ir leyendo notas con párrafos y párrafos de texto el 90% del tiempo, lo cual se agradece demasiado; además que la historia atrapa lo suficientemente bien como para hacerte querer leerlas.
Los efectos de sonido y animaciones están muy bien hechas, los escenarios a veces se vuelven confusos pero no siento que sea problema de diseño, sino que sea hecho aposta con el objetivo de desorientarte un poco. La música es increíble, te mete mucho en el juego con sus puntos de tensión o incluso silencios incómodos. Algunas cosas a corregir serían algunas canciones que no hacen su bucle del todo bien, y que cuando haces algo importante (como usar un objeto), pega un tirón horrible.
Algo bastante negativo, por lo menos para mí, es el hecho de que algunos puzles están demasiado rebuscados. Casi que te toca ir probando a usar cada objeto de tu inventario con cualquier cosa que encuentres en los escenarios. Tuve que buscar un playthough dos veces para este corto juego, cosa que detesto hacer.
Muy recomendado, sobre todo para aquellos a los que les gusta el terror psicológico con una historia bien hecha y una experiencia corta que se puede completar en un sentón (yo es que soy de dar más sentones entonces hice como 5 sesiones en total).

Por cierto, lo jugué con mando, el cual es completamente compatible. Sin embargo, por algún motivo, el perfil que viene por defecto con el juego no quiso funcionar. Tuve que usar uno de la comunidad y editarlo un poco para poder moverme con el joystick además de la cruceta.

Como aventura gráfica para echar la tarde (tres horas) no está nada mal, pero tiene algunos puntos negativos.
Se maneja con una sola mano, lo cual no es malo de por sí, pero acostumbrado a usar las dos manos para jugar, se siente raro usar solo una.
Respecto a las mecánicas de juego, que básicamente es resolver algunos puzles revisando lugares y recogiendo objetos, no está mal, tiene algunos momentos interesantes, pero no es nada del otro mundo. También están los diálogos, que aunque permitan varias opciones, no altera el resultado en los punto decisivos salvo el final.
En cuanto a la historia, una mezcla de terror y ciencia-ficción, la sensación general al terminar es buena, pero me parece que no la aprovecha tanto como podría.
En resumen: Lo recomiendo para un rato muy entretenido.
si lo vas a comprar, solo te diré que debes jugarlo con mano, en pc es incomodo ademas de que no te deja configurar los botones a gusto, se esperaba un poco mas de cuidado en las interacciones, no se tu, pero me frusta que los botones a veces no reaccionan rápido y te quedas atorado con un cartel de texto.
La pantalla de game over es simplona y si esperabas alguna animación de ejecución, no hay. Se que pido mucho a un juego corto, pero que sea corto no quiere decir que no se puede cuidar esos detalles.
La banda sonora es MUY buena, pero se nota cuando se repite los loops porque el juego no sabe cuando estas en peligro o no. La historia... no es nada del otro mundo pero sirve para ambientar.
Es bonito ver referencias a otras sagas, pero rompe el ambiente del juego cuando hay diálogos en momentos serios. O el típico prota que esta en desgracia pero no lo suficiente para no dejar de decir chistes u cosa relacionada a la cultura geek.
Vale la pena el juego para pasar un buen rato, aunque algunos puzzles son bien poco intuitivos.
Compralo en descuento, sale a gusto y ademas se platina facil.

Story and little things that we find alongside is interesting to a certain degree but later I just read every 4th word to understand what is happening and sadly most of the dialogues doesn't matter at all or change just handfull of responses from NPC so at the end not having most of them as an option could work out better
Puzzles and finding clues for them are quite fun but there are so few that most of the game is figuring out where to go and pspamming e to pick up everything and not leave something by accident that will take another 10 minutes to get back for
Sadly not a hidden gem but still I'm glad that I found it (even if I will have to almost complete the game 2nd time to get last achiv as it didn't work for some reason...)
