This is an absolutely fantastic game. Genuinely surprised me, I was expecting an aimless Rimworld-style city builder, but there's an actual branching story, real development, research tree, and after however many hours I've discovered an entire new part of the game. Really impressed. Thoroughly good and shockingly free of bugs. Congrats to the developers.

I would avoid this one. Game is in a game-breakingly buggy state. Also, It doesn't feel like a starship builder, it feels more like a base builder where the world is a disconnected backdrop and moves and rotates around you.

Das Spiel hat ein gutes Grundgerüst mit guten Mechaniken, aber für den Langzeitspielspaß fehlt noch einiges.

Persönlich hatte ich Probleme die Logistik zu automatisieren. Das Bauen einer Raffinerie benötigt ewig, wenn man nur auf den Kauf von Scheinen etc. angewiesen ist. Forschung dauert seine Zeit und wird auch nicht erklärt, sie ist einfach plötzlich da. Auch haben automatisierte Schiffe oft fehlerhaft gehandelt. Anstatt Erz völlig abzuladen (Menge auf Schiff 0) bleiben zwei Brocken über und werden einfach nicht verladen. Dadurch blockiert die Schleuße und das Schiff macht nicht weiter. Andere Schiffe docken automatisch an und verschieben mein Basis-Schiff, da sich aus irgend einem Grund die Schubdüsen nicht ausschalten. Das waren einige Beispiele, die mir den Spaß am ganzen etwas genommen haben.

Die Missionen und Kämpfe haben gute Elemente, nach ein paar Stunden ist es aber immer das gleiche. Kämpfen hat außerdem keinen wirklich Mehrwert in meiner Empfindung. Die Hauptmission habe ich noch nicht fertig, aber es ist immer produziere X Y Z und verkaufe es. In Verbindung mit den Problem ist mir das zu mühsam.

I played this game a lot, and basically was bored the entire time. I kept hoping it would get better, but it never did. In theory, this has all the elements of games I love, but it just doesn't work here. It's very 'meh.' I don't often post bad reviews, but this one just made me more and more frusterated the deeper I went.

It has some similarities to Rimworld, my favorite game of all time. Manage a crew of people, resources, and build a base to defend threats and interface with the world. The developers did a great job of the tutorial, presentation, and UI. In fact the tutorial is one of the best I've seen in a game, rewarding the player well and in a way that fits into later gameplay. Great pacing, a great explanation of the mechanics, easy to follow, and it's incorporated into the game itself rather than something jury-rigged on top. Performance is great too, letting you have multiple bases at the same time without a hitch.

However, where I feel the game falls flat is the tension, pacing, and storytelling of Rimworld. Your crew are nameless and identical. Money is easy to come by, and the few resources your crew needs to live is likely easy to get. It's really just a game about building. While there is fighting, it lacks the tactical depth of Rimworld, where in that game base layout and equipment matching the threat makes a huge difference. Rimworld also has a lot of risk, keeping the game interesting, where this game feels rote and repetitive. I understand some people like games where the goal is just to build in relaxing way, but that's not for me.

The game engine is extremely basic - everything runs on 1 core/thread. I got 7 idle cores, no activity whatsoever on the GPU, and one core at a constant 100% - which leads to 6-15 FPS once you get to substancial multi-role ship.

The content is (still) very limited, you've seen and done it all on a single weekend.
It would be a fun ship builder, but the narrow performance utilization of the engine prohibits that effectivly.

If you are willing to pay for a short story driven campaign and are willing to speculate on wether the sandbox mode will be playable at some point, you can get some fun out of it. But as of now, the replay value is minimal.

If i was really silicon minded, there might be utility in iterative build optimisation, but i have wetware and this just stops being interesting.

It's a very shallow game. There are systems in place for fun and complexity but other systems push you towards a very small set of solutions. There are some obvious solutions but the devs, who are usually amazing, can't seem to figure it out.

If you want to win your ships will look like garbage. While you can build nice looking ship you will not be able to fly them since the combat mechanics will not allow it.

Come back in a year or two. There's some great ideas here but this game needs more time in the oven.

I finished the campaign (such as it is) and while I enjoyed quite a lot of this game, I can't recommend it. It's an interesting combination of ship builder, space combat, and factory/resource management, but I think because of that it doesn't do any of those spectacularly.
There aren't any upgrades for the weapons, so the answer to combat is just "build more guns".
With very, very few exceptions, none of the items you can produce actually DO anything, they're just things you need for the Stargate project quests. You do end up being able to make most of the things you can otherwise buy, but by mid game you'll be drowning in money and spending the resources to make them when you need those resources to make other stuff is not usually worth it.
Overall, the game feels very broad with no real depth.

I don’t understand all the negative “The game isn’t finished” reviews. The game is fun and has more than enough content for its price. That said, if it’s meant to become a game you can invest several hundred hours into, some of the systems still need to be expanded (I’m looking at you, research tree). But the foundation is there, and I’m sure the developers are aware of this and will continue to expand and improve the game in the future.

Brilliantly addictive game with solid mechanics, does need some polish and QoL improvements especially around production and being able to set more detailed production amounts (e.g setting limits on what is produced so you don't end up flooding ships full of factory items)

On the whole a very good experience and the survival mode is quite excellent once you get a fleet going and the procedural generation starts hitting you with some bigger ship opponents, the battles are intense and can be very challenging depending on what composition it throws at you.

I had this game afk in the background a lot if you're wondering why I have such a high playtime.

ALSO still better than most ship "building" games, just wait like 2 years and it might be worth getting. I got my monies worth for this game me personally and would buy it again but that's due to a lack of ACTUAL SHIP BUILDING GAMES WHERE YOU CAN HAVE FUN BUILDING SHIPS AND NOT SPEND HOURS LEARNING ARBITRARY SYSTEMS LIKE MOST GAMES.

Unlike most people if I wanted to have a realistic game I would go outside and guess what going outsides SUCKS ASS. Having realism can help but not that much, having immersion is lot more import imo.

There is no confirmation for when exporting a ship, and the menus are really close together so you will end up overriding a lot of your saved exported ships quite a few times.

When fabricating a ship it doesn't copy the materials inside the ship making it never worth it to fabricate a large ship a majority of the time (Time is a valuable resources).

You can't easily Forget or Dismiss a quest.

All the ships that can be encountered as enemies are just floating guns and a lot have wayyyyy too much armor.

Some of the storage options aren't very intuitive and the larger storage options don't carry more storage but the same amount per tile.

Auto Trade options don't save for exported ships so when importing/fabrication large ships setting up auto trades is huge time sink for how vital it is.

Collecting ship debris takes a long time and when more enemies spawn in you will almost always still have a bunch of stuff to collect (a much bigger problem when you only have 1 ship).

Fuel tanks need more way more storage, the fusion reactor uses way to much fuel and refueling/getting more fuel needs manual input so is not worth it. <- I might be wrong about this but still not worth it.

Ships are 2 dimensional, while this isn't really that big a deal, solar panels and in general things that could go on the exterior of the ship, can't.

Crew members are slow as ♥♥♥♥ and only the default crew member is capable of doing the majority of tasks.

Gatling guns do way too much damage, this becomes very apparent when smaller ships will end up doing a disproportionate amount of damage due to have mostly Gatling guns.

When firing upon neutral ships they will attempt to flee after 50% damage witch can be seen as more realistic, but makes being a criminal almost impossible.

Some of the stations can't be rotated and none of them can be "flipped" leading to constraints in ship building,

There are exactly 2 shapes/polygons for ship building, this isn't too big a deal but more shapes would be nice.

Would be nice to further customize how the exterior ship tiles look, this can quite drastically change how a ship looks (there also seems to be a formula and pattern for how the tiles look, just fyi).

Large ships make the game lag a lot more, my guess is from crew members mostly.

Mining deposit deplete for some odd reason and the comet (which is used for water) just flies off screen making getting more water impossible (you can reset it's position from what I've heard but I will not be installing random bits of code off the web since I have a function brain).

There is no way to delete items besides selling them (a trash can or dismantle station would be nice).

If a ship is sold and has no FTL system it will just stay in the system, so if you lets say gutted a ship from a quest and sold it, It will just stay there, forever (I find this kinda funny but might cause lag if someone sells a bunch of gutted ships).

In order to prioritize a ship in combat you need to select individual weapons. Would be nice to also be able to select a ship to prioritize.

There is no way to see what you have on your ship without external means like trading and ship logistics.

TLDR:
Will probably end up continuing to play this game just can't recommend it in its current state

Overall I'm really enjoying the experience of this game. Everything feels very polished. Combat is satisfying (and reminds me of the Expanse a bit). Ship mass and movement feel intuitive. There are some systems that I hope they refine a bit more (such as fleet logistics management) but I've sunk nearly 50 hours into this so far and haven't been bored yet. 8/10 would recommend

My review comes with the caveat that this game is missing a lot right now, but it's got the bones of something amazing. I think there's a strong chance this will end up a great game in the next year or two... but that it really should not have left early access.

The space sim aspects are fine, a bit simple but functional enough. I think the running from the ever-expanding Void thing is kind of weird, I'd prefer that to be a game mode with the game otherwise left a complete sandbox. There's also not really faction relation type mechanics that are common in space sims - as I said, kind of simple.

The automation gameplay is where things get rough. There's some things missing which are QoL issues, then there's some things that feel like calling this a 1.0 release is way too premature. Some major issues include...

1) Transferring things between ships is awkward, and CANNOT be automated. Ideally you'd want role-specific ships, with each doing different things for the fleet. So you could have a fuel tender, an ammo factory, etc., and then supplying several fighters/warships. That's not possible right now.

2) Storage configuration is EXTREMELY primitive. You can make single-item storage, you can make any equipment, you can make 'anything goes' storage. That's it. You cannot configure storage limits per-storage (except for storage boxes), you can't define what specific things get stored where (outside of single-type storage), you can't set storage priority. If you have any amount of 'Any CArgo' storage it inevitably will fill up with all kinds of miscellaneous goods.

3) You can't limit crafting based on total counts/output. For example, if you always want exactly 100 Railgun ammo on hand, you can totally set that up with automatic purchase orders. But you can't configure that for your ammo bench to stop producing Railgun Ammo once you have enough - if you have the Metal, it'll keep pumping it out forever or until you manually turn it off. Keep in mind, this is a game that emphasizes multiple ships - you ed up having to do a lot of babysitting in a game that is ostensibly, at least in part, about automation.

4) If your inventory fills up, a delivery ship will get stuck on your docking port trying to deliver goods it cannot find space for. I had this happen (because the automation went awry and filled my entire ship with metal ingots) when I walked away thinking my game was paused. I came back to my whole crew dead and no way to get more crew because the old delivery shuttle was clogging the docking bay and refused to move. I ended up having to sell the entire ship because there was no way to salvage this, even though I had the resources I needed to fix the problem.

5) The recipe browser is only limitedly helpful. It's good for trying to figure out how to make something, but not figuring out what something is used FOR. For example, if you wanted to know what all you can do with 'Explosives' you'd just need to go to the wiki. Or if you wanted to know what a specific crafter makes/does? Just have to build one and play with it to find out.

6) Related to the previous, many items do not have descriptions at all. You're just entirely left in the dark on why you would want this thing or what it does, not even a flavortext description. Some items do have this, however, so the dev/s clearly know they CAN do this and have a framework for doing it... they just haven't.

7) There's very little in-game tutorial. There's not even help menus to explain things with an in-game database for a lot of stuff. They tell you the absolute most basics, and then you're on your own. Which wouldn't be so bad if not for points 5 and 6.

8) You cannot queue up commands at all for your ship. For example, you wanted to say "move here, then move here" you just have to watch and wait for it to do it by hand. This makes the 'tactical' menu not feel very tactical. Also, rotating your ship is weirdly difficult to do.

All that being said, with a little more time to cook I could easily see this being my favorite game. I've been dying to find a good spacesim with custom ship building, jumping from Starmade, Avorion, and Empyrion. This is probably the most promising one.

I will, howeer, say that coming from Introversion this is kind of disappointing. This is the team that made Prison Architect and Uplink, classics with a huge amount of depth and well thought-out design. I question what decision prompted them to take this game out of early access. If it was financial and they just needed more fuel for the engine to keep building the game, that's understandable. But I think this is going to be a bad first impression for a lot of players.

I'll be checking up on this game. If I come back in a year or two and find it's significantly better, then I'll change this review. But for the game in its current state, I don't think I can give it a recommendation without a ton of qualifying statements.

I quite enjoyed it, the storyline is interesting and the shipbuilding is fun. But I wish there was a story mode setting option, I find it too easy to earn money and the damage to be unpunishing/easily fixed, It would be nice to increase enemy damage percent or decrease player damage, or reduce cash earned per contract. I think it would also be nice if you could be ambushed after using an FTL drive/jump into combat that it won't warn you about while doing a mining contract or delivery contract by interupting your jump forcing you into combat. Aside from that I really enjoyed the game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a story/builder/factory based game. I look forward to more updates!

I've got about 20 hrs into the game so far and I'm rather enjoying it. This has a little bit of everything for everyone. If you're into following a storyline main quest without sidetracks not much will be lost. If you just want to tool around on your own while ignoring the main lines that's fine too. Even within that if you want to go heavy combat or heavy economy this game can scratch your itch. Side missions that earn funds. Mining, resource gathering, crafting and economy. Do it yourself or automate. Blowing up pirates and stealing their goods to sell back into civilized society. Make the game what you will. Want to spend hours designing your perfect craft? Delve into community builds? Or prefer just to deal with stock craft with minor tweaks? The game is playable for all styles.

One thing that rankles me is that your ship is always oriented flying left to right. Having some way to get it flying straight up or down or really any direction would be helpful.

人員運搬の依頼を受注し、問題なく送り届けたにもかかわらず、
降りるはずの民間人がシャトルに移動しなくなり依頼が完了しない
本来なら船の許容量を超える依頼は受けられないはずなのだが、
どういうわけかかなりの数を受注できてしまい
依頼受注欄に一生残り続ける事態となってしまう

時々ショートカットキーが反応しなくなるのも地味に面倒で
ゲームを一度落とさないと直らないということもあった

今後のアップデートで改善されよくなることを願います

Another great Introversion game, part factory game, part 2D space sim, and a lot of fun.

However the release build that I played had some rough edges where quality of life features would have been a great help:
- Hard to build a factory to produce the equipment for ships, you can't store a lot of equipment in storage boxes and you can't specify storage for a particular type of equipment either, so it makes it hard to ensure you always have a good level of stock as storage space gets clogged with the wrong stuff.
- It'd be nice to have a way to turn stuff on/off without having to change the recipes, which would also help with the above.
- It can be unclear what pipes need to go where at the design phase or even before you set the recipe so there were numerous times I ended up planning something out and had to scrap it because things were connected to the wrong pipes.
- Hard to modify an existing ship without cut/copy/paste, if you build your ship and get new equipment for it then if you don't have room for it already it is easier to design a new ship from scratch than to modify an existing one to fit the new equipment.
- Automatic logistics frequently break and have to manually fix it up by undoing whatever is still waiting to be transferred. It would be good to have a max wait time option so it would automatically cancel anything that is taking too long.

None of these issues were particularly game breaking but it probably would have saved me about 5-10 hours on my playthrough if they had been addressed.

decent enough game. good but not great. you can beat it in like 20 hours if you blitz the story quests or you can spend 90 hours like i did messing around trying to build a better war ship and a more efficient factory ship.

if you don't like colony sim or logistics games then you are not going to like this game. though it's not REALLY a colony sim game, it just has the aesthetic of one with all the little workers that run around.

i wasn't real happy with the AI control of the player ships, it's far inferior to the enemy AI. they basically just fly straight up to the enemy and sit at the perfect range to get destroyed. every. single. time. i tried it a bunch of different ways and the only way that got results was building 1 huge gunship that i control myself.

at the end of the day i found it enjoyable enough, but it wasn't particularly difficult or deep. it doesn't really have much replayability as the story is linear and all there is when it's done is basically just creative mode.

I've been playing colony sims, and management games for years, so I was exited to see this one fully release. WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT!!!!

I found flying the ships and manufacturing mechanics unintuitive and frustrating. Docking was so difficult I rage quit the game after an hour of failed attempts.

I expect a game to teach me how to play it, if it's going to be this complicated. I'm not willing to spend hours outside the game, watching content creator YouTube, or Googling something as basic as, 'how to dock my ship to another'. The game should tell me, or provide a tool tip or something.

The tutorial is ok. I had to restart it because if you don't follow it step for step it glitches and refuses to progress.

The game dose not feel like a 1.0, more like a 0.5.3 alpha still adapting to community requests for more features, while ignoring basic UI and new player needs.

The space mines calls and I yearn for the mines! 7 hours of ever unlocking mechanics and options that I didn't even realize were a part of this game. There is a genuinely good game in here somewhere, but the UX/UI and missing features make this feel incomplete and incoherent. It feels disingenuous to sell this as a completed game.

Can't stop playing, someone please send help!

Seriously though, it might be the best game I've ever played. In a weird way it reminds me of a cross between Core Keeper and Star Trucker, another couple of favorites. The gameplay of Core Keeper with the theme of Star Trucker. I'm enjoying the hell out of it, but I can't stop building ships long enough to play the game.

Massive creativity, with a side of star travel and space fare! It just got released, so needs more polish, obviously, but I look forward to seeing what updates bring to the already addictive game play.

Well done dev's your patience and persistence paid off. After I lost myself in the demo for 8 hours, I figured that alone was worth the 20 buckazoids. One of these days I plan on making a few shareable ships. Probably not the ones I've shown though. My goal with this fleet is to be able to dock everything into a much larger looking ship. So far so good.

Comentando após finalizar a historia e resumidamente o jogo é bom, tem uma boa história, tem boa mecânica, te permite bastante controle sobre produção e construção.

Melhorias:
1 - O controle de frota automático é ruim, em um combate grande uma nave com muitos canhões e defesas laterais pode virar de frente e seguir para bem próximo do inimigo sendo destruída.
2 - Falta automação de tarefas tanto para nave, quanto para tripulação.
3 - Falta comercio entre suas e as naves dos NPC's

I'm revising my review. I originally put this game at a 5/10. But after playing an additional 42 hours, this is a terrible game, 2/10 for sure. Wow do I want to play it, but every step of the way is either a confusing system or an outright bug. I spent 8 hours building a sweet ice mining rig only to find out the comet moves and there is no way to find it. UGH.

It feels like one of my projects, HUGE ambition, but get bored at like 70% completion. But, they got their money from me, so guess I'm the sucker.

Did my time, and honestly can't say its worth the money. Like other people have said, the game is pretty shallow, other games do the factory better. Other games do combat better. Other games do quests/exploring the unknown better.

My biggest gripe is the constant bugs and issues:
Game says I have have 10 cannons to install, wait, nope, only had 9 so now I have to go shopping again.
Go mining, oh, all the mining lasers shut off and won't fire anymore, even though I have plenty of power and the asteroid IS RIGHT THERE.
Trying to move components around to maximize space and efficiency, oh better restart the game again cause the crew decided its break time and they ain't going to dismantle stuff.
Trying to just use the factory to build components for the big quest... nope crew is still on their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ break even though all the resources to manufacture are ready to go.

The game works well enough when you're small scale with one ship, but as soon as you try making multiple ships or go for a big one, the issues crop up more and more. Tried to like it, but no, there are better options out there.

- Do a starsector and make the game files mod friendly. (Really want my own balancing for contracts so they scale better.)
- Do a spacehaven and add new weapons that have 360 degree arc and small one-man fighters.
- On that note: Why do the enemies have access to fighters when we as the player don't?
- Bug Report on Fighters: Can't complete a combat contract against fighters because they can de-spawn if I eliminate the carrier and then jump out of system.
- Bug Report: Can't find the fighters needed to complete a combat contract, why is there no feature to abandon a contract? Wouldn't mind if there was a penalty for abandoning it.
- Would love a feature of making rescuing ships automatic, maybe get a specialized pilot crew for it? How about combat?
- Why won't engines also act as a thruster? Feel's like a waste.

Nettes kleines Raumschiff-aufbau Spiel. Die Questreihe ist ganz gut gestaltet. Wenn man allerdings einen gewissen punkt erreicht hat und blickt wie das game funktioniert, kommt man recht einfach durch, gemäß dem Motto der Tau ;)
Mir ist die Crew verwaltung zu "flach", da hätt ich gerne mehr Tiefe gehabt, ebenso bei der Forschung. Aber alles in allem würd ich 7/10 geben, 64h haben Spaß gemacht und wenn was großes neues kommt, schau ich wieder rein.

The Last Starship is one of the most satisfying engineering games I have played. If you enjoy logistics, optimization, and thoughtful design, this game absolutely delivers.

The ship building system is the highlight. Every vessel you create has a clear purpose, whether it is a combat ship, mining platform, contract runner, or an all in one hybrid. You are constantly balancing power generation, battery capacity, weight, resource flow, crew efficiency, and firepower. Min maxing your systems feels incredibly rewarding, and every design decision has consequences.

The story mode blends naturally with the tutorial, which makes the learning curve feel immersive instead of overwhelming. It is complex, but that complexity is exactly what makes mastery so satisfying.

Combat feels heavy and impactful. Ships are not just stat blocks. They feel massive. Weight and power management directly affect performance, which makes victories feel earned.

It reminds me of Factorio in terms of logistics depth, but The Last Starship has its own identity with ship physics, combat balance, and sci fi progression.

There is still huge potential for expansion. Better storage statistics, crew specialization, blueprint copy and paste tools, weapon range indicators, hotkeys for battle modes, missile systems, hangars with fighters, and deeper command progression would elevate it even further.

Even as it stands now, it is an incredibly engaging experience.

You do not just build ships. You engineer them.

初期資金300k+チュートリアル200kにも拘わらず秒間5~20消費する燃料が1000単位あたり6000Cもして耐久10%修理に20000Cかかるなどほぼ最適解を求められる割に不可逆要素だらけでキャンペーンモードでの通常プレイは一切想定されていない。

Prison Architectがどれほど名作だったのかは知らないが今のところは「いつもの」「賢い」外人ゲーとしか評価できない、クリエイティブモードのみある程度評価するが販売物としてのデザインはロースクールレベルと言わざるを得ない。

I really really wanted to like this game, but it's just too buggy in it's current state (Feb 2026). I recognize comparing it to Factorio is unfair, but I was really accustomed to playing the logistics side of a game without having to manage so much of it directly.

I set up a ship to mine a specific ore type in a specific system via interstellar logistics. The ship mines whatever it comes across. I set it up to go back to my factory and deliver all of the ore. It always leaves two or three ore behind and I have to manually move it. Orders constantly get stuck. Crew members just bumble about. Sell orders pile up in the dock with no indication of why they aren't moving. Some machines produce an infinite quantity of stuff, clogging up your storage. Others automatically stop when a container is full. Crew will randomly take materials from smelters and distribute it where ever around the ship. Intership logistics is painfully slow and for some reason will randomly decide between transferring with docking/crew or drones. No way to specify which one to do.

There is so little documentation or explanation of how mechanics in the game work. How much oxygen does the air duct make? How much do crew members consume? How much food do they need? A lot of this can be compensated for by just overdoing a lot of it, but again, the lack of clear guidelines on how so much operates doesn't help.

The final straw was getting to the stage of the game where radiation is introduced. I set up my little assembler table. I set up the radiation barriers. At some point when the machine isn't even operating, a crew member wanders into the radiation death zone and just...stands there. Until death. THERE'S A SPACE SUIT RIGHT THERE BRO! IF YOU WANT TO STAND IN THE DEATH ZONE JUST PUT ON THE NO DEATH SUIT!

All of the basic components are there and ultimately just need refinement. Maybe I'll try it again in a few years. I think a few more patches will make this game fantastic, but it isn't there yet.

Disappointed by a Rushed 1.0 Release
I really wanted to love this game from the Prison Architect devs, but The Last Starship feels like it launched at least six months too early. From developers who spent nearly a decade refining Prison Architect into a beloved classic, this feels shockingly unpolished and rushed. For a game that's supposedly "1.0" and feature-complete, it's riddled with bugs and missing basic quality-of-life features that should be standard in any factory/automation game. Honestly, the whole thing feels cheaply produced.

Critical Bugs That Shouldn't Exist in Full Release:

Mouse cursor disappearing - Multiple times my cursor has just vanished, making the game completely unplayable, even on restart the bug is persistant. This is a game-breaking bug that's been reported for months.
Life support systems breaking - Ships randomly lose the ability to supply oxygen. CO2 scrubbers and air reprocessors get "blocked" and stop working, suffocating your crew with no clear way to fix it.
Crew stops working entirely - There's a well-documented bug where all workers just stop functioning, soft-locking your entire game.

Missing Basic Factory Game Features:
This markets itself as a space factory game, but it's missing fundamental tools that make factory games playable:

No crossover pipes - Routing pipes and wires is an absolute nightmare. Without crossovers, you end up with tangled spaghetti messes that are impossible to organise properly. This is basic infrastructure that games like Factorio sorted out years ago.
No template system/No copy/paste functionality - Want to duplicate a working production line? Rebuild it manually, tile by tile

Other Major Issues:

Tutorial is paper-thin - you're left to figure out critical systems through trial and error
Limited content - About 15 hours to see everything, then it's over
Lifeless crew - They're just robots, zero personality compared to Prison Architect
Excessive clicking required for basic tasks (selling items, managing logistics)
Ships regularly break in bizarre ways that make no sense
The whole game feels unpolished and rushed out the door

The Verdict:
This feels like an Early Access game that got pushed to 1.0 to hit a deadline, not a polished final product. The core ideas are solid, but the execution is frustrating and incomplete. The lack of basic features like crossover pipes makes the "factory" aspect feel amateurish. If this were still in Early Access, I'd recommend it with caveats. But charging full price for a "complete" game this buggy, feature-incomplete, and frankly cheap-feeling? Can't do it.
Wait for a few major patches (or a sale) before buying. Maybe in six months this will be worth the asking price.
A Note on Steam Refunds:
Be aware that many of these issues won't become apparent within Steam's 2-hour refund window. The first couple of hours are relatively polished - it's only when you get deeper into the game that the lack of content, game-breaking bugs, and missing features really hit home. By the time ships start breaking in bizarre ways or you realise how shallow the factory mechanics actually are, you're well past the point of getting your money back.
This feels deliberate - polish the opening enough to get past refund eligibility, then it doesn't matter how broken the rest is. Buyer beware.

It's a little grindey, sure. It's a little goofy looking, yeah. It's quirky, but not in a disingenuous Zoey Daschenelle sort of way.

Games where I care what happens to characters engage me, and this game hit that note.

At a certain point, I was given command of a space station that reminded me of the Tenderloin in San Francisco: gentrify all you want, but that guy smoking crack while gifting the sidewalk a fat turd says otherwise. I did what I could, paid attention, but realized I needed to do a few milk runs to pay the bills.

Time went on, I was busy playing Space Door Dash and Space Uber for a bit. I had some science-related mission hanging over me. I haphazardly dealt with oxygen shortages with varying results.

Then it happened. The entire crew of the space station suffocated to death while I was busy doing Space Chores. I felt bad, genuinely. They trusted me, and I responded with the cold dark indifference only the stellay void could provide.

TL;DR: I killed a bunch of innocent space station crew members through sheer apathetic neglect. 11/10 would kill them again for the feels.

雰囲気は好きなゲームですが、全体的に浅くてなんかもやっとする。

現状、自分で作った船で戦いたい人以外にはお勧めできない。難易度はクエストクリアにはクエスト中でもらった船だけで最後までクリアできる程度なのでそれほど難しくはない。

生産系は問題だらけで、生産施設を自動化するにも使えるツールがコンベア（トラック）とアーム（ロボットアーム、対角線上に物資を移す1マス2マスあり）しかなく、自動化するには相当広大な土地（船）作らないといけないのが何とも。あと、コンベア（トラック）に乗ってる物資は全てからカウントされず、NPC労働者もトラックからは物資を拾えない（そのくせ集積所があっても指示もしてないのにトラックにそこら辺いある物資を乗せる）のでトラックを多く使うとリソース管理が一切できないなどの問題がある。
そもそも、クエスト報酬でお金は貯まるし必要軍需パーツは作れないので作る意義がない。

まだまだ全然出来てないゲームと言う印象が強いゲームでした。

Это точно релиз 1.0? Абсолютно точно на 100% нет, это все еще ранний доступ. Совершенно непонятно, что делали разработчики на протяжении 8 лет, что в игре даже половина базовых механик толком не работает, катастрофически маленькое кол-во контента, абсолютно мертвый мир, где не происходит ничего, и прочее и прочее. И вообще все довольно кривое и неудобное.

Потенциал огромный, но игру еще разрабатывать и разрабатывать. Прям сейчас она как раз на том уровне, когда уже не стыдно выпустить первую бета-версию в ранний доступ. Но называть это релизом - обман игроков.

Space ship simulator

You build a starship and go out into the 'little' galaxy and pew pew the bad guys, or play starship taxi or mobile factory.

The gameplay loop is OK for a whle, but the amount of content quickley feels lacking. Only a small number of weapons, each battle feels very samey, no real difference in tactics. The game also feels very small, only a handful of star systems that all feel the same with minor background changes. There isi a story mode but its again rather lackinig.

All and all what is here is solid and I'm happy with my expereience, but it needs more content to feel like a great game.

I got this game as a time waster. I got it discounted in a bundle. I figured it was worth 10 or so dollars for a few days of fun after work. what an understatement that turned out to be.

I didn't realize i got it on launch day at the time. and i mean that in the most positive way because it feels incredibly polished even from day one with only one small bug i ran into that wasn't game breaking in the slightest.
you can feel the passion the devs have for this game and everything it could be.

As is the game is fun, charming, simple to pickup, and well worth the 10 dollars i spent and would have been at full price of 20. with the updates the devs have in the pipeline, this have the potential to be the best 20 dollars you could spend on gaming this year.

the systems for building and maintaining your ship are robust but simple, allowing a shocking amount of creativity with design and the viability of those designs.
the combat feels mostly balanced with each of the 3 weapon types having a distinct purpose and use case that encourages use of all 3.
the economics systems are engaging and in depth while avoiding becoming convoluted.

If i had to put Cons to the game it would boils down to a few QOL adjustments, like putting numbers to how much power a new ship system will draw from the powergrid before installing, or allowing you to queue up research. things that are probably going to be addressed in future updates.
some might say it needs fleshing out and i can't argue that too much as there are a lot of mechanics that can be expanded on. but i can also see the potential or where this game seems to be headed and i feel it is worth sticking with to get there.
as is for a 1.0 release, over all and as is I would say this is worth the money and your time.

Or recreate a ship from your favorite sci fi show. [b]Create and Control Multiple Ships/Stations at the same time!![/b]

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: Your crew & civs need food water and oxygen. Buy it, mine it, craft it, farm it. You also dont have to rely on the shops for parts/ammo. Mine and craft and become fully self sufficient. Or rely on the economy prices to save space for a more combat focused shape. Or my favorite, the self sufficient and supplier mining ship, used as my own free resource supplier for my smaller combat ship

Good quality game with lots of potential.

But now at 1.0 release I have to say this game is not worth the Money. The well known developers Introvision (Made Prison Break) state 1.0 is released after 5 years development and 3 years early access. I cant see it, If thats true it feels like it was a side project.

So what is missing? Well the tech tree is super basic and short. It mostly just has a few +25% efficiency here there items and blue prints for some basic items available in every sector from NPCs. Modules: There is very little weapon variety: Gattling guns (point defence), Cannon and railguns, 1 type of each. No other weapons become available, Not even improved versions of those 3. No shields of any type, No missiles.

It really feels like the developer did the minimum possible to get away will call it a 1.0. INTROVERSION can do so much better than this!!!

So this game is a little FTL, a little Elite, a little Factorio...

...and I don't think I have ever been so deeply engrossed in so mediocre a game. It's not a bad game, by any stretch; in fact, having played through the first campaign, I can't find anything noteworthy that explicitly drags the game down. Unfortunately, I equally can't find anything that makes the game outright shine, either.

Still, the game remains enjoyable, and the first campaign is decently written, I've not seen enough of the second yet to really comment, but thus far I've not found myself overwhelmed, underwhelmed, or even just whelmed by it.

Overall, if you like resource management, a bit of space combat, and trading, you'll probably enjoy this. Might want to wait for a sale, but I wouldn't call its current price tag (as of February 2026) excessive.

I had my fun.
My playtime was mostly flying around and gathering resources/ building. That aspect is good. managing fleet and building ships always feels rewarding.
Story and missions - well . . . . they are very shallow and though you have a campaign to complete, it is very basic - nothing to write home about.
Is there anything bad? not for me. Most of this game is just ok, does the job and doesn't get in your way of having fun.
My opinion is 7.5/10 - worthy of playing it again.

単純な機械翻訳で急いでつくったような印象を受けました。
ストーリーには没入できません。

しかし好評にしました。

私は文章がうまくないので高評価のポイントは簡単にさせていただきます。
・rimworldと違い人が簡単に死なない。それに人手を簡単に集められる。
・単純な依頼を黙々とこなす部分が気に入り、お金を稼いで採掘や戦闘、より多くの乗客収納に向けてカスタマイズできる。
・スターゲートという、大量の資源が必要で手間のかかるコンテンツは手ごたえを感じ、好き。

プレイヤーにとって好みが別れる箇所も記載します。
・全体のイメージとして「考えて作業を黙々とこなす」ようなもののため、これらに苦手意識を持つ人には注意して。
・日本語翻訳が雑なのでストーリーに没頭できないので気を付けて。
・戦闘は、宇宙船の装備に正解が見えにくく安定した勝利が保証できないため、大量に装備を搭載しても苦戦する可能性があります。

Prison Architectはお気に入りのゲームで、やりたい放題させていただきました。
よく見るとPrison Architectを作った開発なのでぜひ購入したいと思い、こうしてレビューを投稿しました。

It's an exciting game. You can build a fleet from scratch, configuring the ships to a nice level of detail.

I wish it would offer more, but still worth it already! If you like space industry & trading & mining, and it's not a problem that the game is not super deep, then you should give it a go.

It's prison architect in space. It's good. The developers are good people, this deserves support. There is a lot more story in v1.0 than I expected, and the care shines through. Enjoying it very much so far :)

so...i like the game but i think i ran into a bug. as im playing in any of the game modes the screen will blink out and i wont be able to do anything i have to window out and close program rather game breaking for me hoping its fixed for 1.0

It's fun, but doesn't feel fully complete. Tech advancement feels off, scaling feels off, only 3 weapon types, etc.

I would recommend if it was still early access, but if this is considered "feature complete" then no. I'm hoping they will improve it after launch, and if it does, I'll change this review, but until then this is more of a demo of a full game.

I wasn't expecting to be as hooked as I was. I've been playing until 3.30am most nights since the game was released. It's having a detrimental effect on my life. It has that "just one more turn" feeling despite being a realtime game (with pause) because there's always one more thing you want to do before signing out. I finished the campaign in about 40 hours and now I'm playing survival mode. There are definitely some quality of life and UI improvements that could be made, but I know they are working on updates which will address some of these.

Overall it needs a lot more polish. I havent played much of the campaign/story, just did whatever i wanted. The good thing is that you arent locked to the story. The bad thing is the dialogue is really slow, you had to click on the message box to make it go fast. And it annoyingly doesnt go away until you view all the messages. You also cant scroll on the contract list, so if you took a lot of contracts you need to go into the contract menu to view them. Took a while to figure out the basics without following the tutorial. I would recommend waiting for a while longer and see if anything improves if you were considering this game. Theres other game with a lot more polish than this with similar themes.

One thing to note however. I had to take breaks from playing ARPG like Path of Exile because my hand were hurting, but nowadays i can play for 12+ hours without much pain since i stop every now and then. However, i only played this game for 5 hours, with rests and breaks, and i already had some RSI from too much clicking.

po cca 32 hodinách herní doby:
+ Stavba vlastní lodi
+ Příběh, který neurazí a ani nepřekáží (občas)
+ Bitvy ve vesmíru, strategie a pod.
+ lehká obtížnost, peníze vždy vyděláte, stačí mít funkční loď.
+ přehledné, optimalizace solidní
+ správa zdrojů, možnost vyblbnout se trochu jako ve factoriu
+ můžete spravovat celou letku

- po nějaké době omrzí, hra je monotónní
- výzvy mi přišli celkem snadné
- chybí mi průzkum prostředí, vesmír je na můj v kus dost prázdný
- štve mě, že jsem nepřišel na to, jak dát lodi nový lesk. Po bitvě, kde utrpím poškození, zůstávají na lodi stále viditelné bloky, u kterých jsem nepřišel na způsob opravy. A pár dalších detailů.

After cca 32 hours of gaming time:
+ build your own starship
+ story, which isnt boring or disturbing (almost)
+ battles at space, strategy and atc.
+ game is simple enough to make many if you have a functional ship
+ good optimalization and clarity
+ source management, a bit like in factorio system implemented
+ you can manage a fleet if you want

- The game is repetitive, it gets boring after a while
- low challenge for me
- I miss the possibility of exploration, the universe is quite empty for my taste
- I'm annoyed that I haven't figured out how to give the ship a new shine. After a battle where I take damage, there are still visible blocks on the ship that I haven't figured out how to repair. And a few other details.

Das Wichtigste vorweg: The Last Starship (TLS) bekommt von mir eine glasklare Empfehlung!

Hier kommen sehr viele Elemente zusammen:
Ein bisschen [b]Factorio[/b], denn in TLS kann ich kleine Fabriken bauen und Dinge produzieren. Ein bisschen [b]Starcom - Unknown Universe[/b], denn ich kann mein eigenes Raumschiff von Grund auf neu designen, jede Tür und jede Wand nach eigenen Vorstellungen setzen und dann damit rumfliegen, Piraten jagen, Rohstoffe abbauen oder beim Bau des Stargate helfen. Ein bisschen [b]FTL[/b], denn wenn man im Überlebensmodus spielt, flieht man vor einer großen, schwarzen Leere. Und natürlich ein bisschen [b]Prison Architekt[/b], denn so ein Raumschiff ist auch eine Art Gefängnis, nur dass man da eher kein Loch in die Wand bohren sollte, um auszubrechen... :]

Positiv:

- es gibt 1000 Dinge zum Ausprobieren, selbst nach 40 Stunden öffnen sich noch neue Möglichkeiten
- den Raumschiffdesigner verkaufen andere als eigenes Spiel
- schöne Hommage an Star Trek, Star Gate, Star Wars und alles mit Star im Namen
- ich hatte in über 50 Stunden KEINEN einzigen Absturz

Verbesserungspotential:

- das Weltall ist ziemlich leblos, ab und zu taucht ein anderes Schiff auf, aber lebendig fühlt sich das nicht an
- von den Kolonien sieht man gar nichts
- es gibt keine Aliens! oO
- es gibt kein Handelssystem, die Preise sind überall und immer gleich (im Überlebensmodus steigen Preise). Das führt dazu, dass man dieselbe Ware 1000x produzieren und verkaufen kann und immer den vollen Preis erhält, obwohl der Handelsplatz überschwemmt ist. Realistisch wäre, dass Angebot und Nachfrage den Preis verändern, aber da sind wir wieder beim leblosen Weltall...
- wenn die Hauptstory abgeschlossen ist, gibt es keine Motivation, noch weiterzuspielen.

Da ist also noch viel Luft drin für "The Last Starship 2", damit daraus ein richtiges [b]X3-Terran Conflict[/b] in 2D-Grafik wird. Aber trotzdem hat mich TLS ganze Nächte wach gehalten und plötzlich war es 12 Uhr mittags. Ich habe tagsüber auf Karopapier Raumschiffdesigns vorgezeichnet, die ich abends am PC ausprobiert habe! Das sind alles Dinge, die ich schon sehr lange nicht mehr gemacht habe - und es zeigt, wie sehr mich das Spiel beschäftigt hat.

The game feels oddly unfinished. Many of the UIs feel clunky and weird and there's a lot of missing QoL. There are 3 tutorial missions, but no order in which to do them in, so you're constantly asked to do things you haven't learned yet. Also, the main quest is shoved into your face before you have a chance to start those missions.

There's very little content and the game feels short. There are very few scripted missions after the first tutorial ones. At least in the default game mode, you're building stuff for the main quest, after which the game just ends. There's all kinds of automation things I didn't really find a use for. The scale of industry needed is so small that there's no justification for building elaborate automated factories. The explorable area is tiny, and the systems don't really have anything interesting in them. There's a lot of talk of finding a way to reach another galaxy altogether, but the player doesn't get to see it.

All in all, not worth the time-investment. By the time I started to understand how the game works, it was already about to end.

3 years in early access, and now into 1.0, and it still feels unfinished. its missing basic QOL, controls feel clunky and un-intuitive, UI is hard to read at times. Theres some good, you can make insane amounts of money pretty easily but then, that kinda... defeats the entire point of the game.

I'd say theres potential, and there is, but if it hasnt been tapped after 3 years in early access, will it ever be?

Basicaly just few options how to build ship.. Just 3 type of weapons, 1 engine, 2 reactors and rest equipment just only 1 choice too.. After few hours you have it all and game start to be boring.. BUT it could be polished. Core of this game is fine.

Sadly can't recommend this game. It takes elements from other games (like Factorio, Cosmoteer, X4, FTL) but implements them in a worse barebones fashion. The overall game doesn't feel cohesive, ultimately feeling lesser than the sum of its parts.

You're better off just playing the games that this borrows from.

Good Game but Lacks alot of QOL features and there is sadly not a user friendly way to suggest new features

QOL features needed: Automatic loading and unloading between ships with robot arm and/or Rails without needing crew, Cargo Zones with multiple selectable items not only 1 or all items

also the crew often messes up any automation by taking items that they shouldnt

As I'm sure everyone knows. The mouse keeps disappearing and it makes the game unplayable. I can't find a decent UI scaling on my 1920x1080p monitor, and there now windowed mode. I really hate to say it, but I feel like I have to refund this game if no fix comes.

It was a fun little game, which I enjoyed, even though it didn't take me long to go through most of its content. I feel like the UI could use more work, as well as the game world is a bit empty.
