Great game, the decision making process and growth are very well balanced. There are some clunky things like sometimes placing buildings isn't the best but regardless it's a lot of fun. Also if you know what you're doing it becomes incredibly easy once you get a foothold. Can't wait for Planetbase 2.
P.S. if your colonists aren't eating food, make more mealmakers, they wont eat their wheat raw.

Planetbase is a fantastic change of pace if you're looking for something that hits that management itch without requiring a PhD in logistics. Since I’ve moved to playing exclusively on the Steam Deck, I’ve been looking for games that offer that "just one more building" feeling while still being accessible, and this one really nails it.
What’s great about Planetbase is that it’s fairly basic in its mechanics—and I mean that in the best way possible. There’s no over-the-top complexity to get lost in, which makes it easy to pick up and put down. However, don't let the simplicity fool you; once your colony starts expanding and you're managing hundreds of colonists across a hostile landscape, the challenge really ramps up.
The gameplay experience on the Steam Deck is top-tier. It runs smoothly, and while the handheld controls are functional, I’ve found the sweet spot is pairing the Deck with a wireless mouse. It gives you that extra bit of precision needed for placing structures when the base gets crowded. It’s also the perfect "dad-friendly" game—it’s easy to pause or just let the colony hum along while you step away to deal with family for a few minutes.
This game should be renamed "Idiots in space". It's quite boring, but it's an excellent idiot simulator.

Ai is just plain to stupid, it makes sense to have some challenge in balancing your base but it goes way past reasonable and breaks the immersion of the game.
if you wanted a game to play and build this is not that, this is the sims "management edition" with a dash of sci fi.

Maybe it's not the most complex colony builder, it's rather simple but I like that for what it is. For its age it still holds up really well in my opinion. Also, it's easy to get into, but the later planets or challenges are quite a bit harder!
I'm a fan of colony builders, and I must say, it's definitely in my top 3. I find myself returning to this game more often than to other games, despite the presence of newer or better ones.

Quite simplistic, but it's their first game - it's a nice indie with a simple game loop, challenging at times, easy after a while. You'll burn quite a few hours on this, and you'll enjoy it.
No matter how you set up your base the games goes south quick and is NEVER enjoyable. I can not understand how colonist can starve to death with food readily available. I will NOT buy another game from the game company. I strongly suggest avoiding this game

The game in its self is pretty good but its just unplayable with sound because every time you click something it makes a noise that just goes through me. The only way to turn it off is to turn the SFX audio to zero but that mutes all other sounds on the game so you either play with the annoying noise every time you click something or you play with no sound. Pretty stupid that you cant turn that sound off.

This can be a ton of fun to play. That said, there's a few things they need to tweak. I think they should bump the response time for all the characters to be a little more attentive for lack of a better word. Basically just smooth it out. Otherwise is perfectly challenging yet fun survivor/colony sim.

No ability to control colonists is my biggest complaint. They will just stand in one spot and die of starvation, low oxygen or water rather than pick up a box of food or build an O2 generator or a freaking water extractor. I mean, where did they pick up these colonist - the Forrest Gump Institute of Idiots!
Me está gustando este juego por su originalidad y sentido estratégico de diseño y crecimiento de una supuesta colonia espacial. Tiene algunas dinámicas diferentes a Dawn of Man. Por ejemplo, aquí, que yo sepa, no se controla colono por colono y en el juego nombrado cada poblador sí. Pero, sin embargo, aquí está implementada la variedad nutricional: no basta con alimentarles con lo primero que se siembre en las cúpulas, sino que ha de tener variedad o de lo contrario enferman y han de pasar por la Enfermería, eso es muy original y realista. También está bien logrado, en mi opinión el tema de los impacto meteóricos, tormentas de arena que ralentizan y minan moral, etc, lo mismo que lo de los visitantes turistsa espaciales que dejan ingresos por su visita. Sin anticiparse al crecimiento poblacional requerido con naves de colonos que lleguen con infraestructura energética previa, no hay nada que hacer, con gran porcentaje de energía solar y algo complementada con eólica. Si los colonos no están bien alimentados, y puede ser secuela de apagones energéticos, etc, rinden menos, sobre todo perceptible en los trabajadores y biológos, y se nota en un círculo vicioso que puede acabar en la hambruna generalizada. También tienen que estar hidratados, descansados y amenizados. Lo mismo de interesante en la fabricación de boots (robots) tratando de gestionar bien recursos primarios (metales y almidón), y los manufacturados secundarios y terciarios. Y todavía no he sufrido ninguna incursión/infiltración de saboteadores (se supone que cuando se aumente el tamaño, hitos alcanzados o prestigio) que tiene que ser el summum. Gran juegazo para los aficionados a la estrategia/táctica, y ambientada en colonias espaciales, y a buen precio en mi opinión....
This is one of my favorite logistics space games I come back to every once in a while. It's not super deep, but it's not shallow enough that you can't spend a few days playing a scenario and have fun. It definitely deserves my thumbs up.

Fairly robust civ builder type game with the added challenge of being in space. There are a few things I would tweak - but I know they have a new version coming out soon. I am excited to try the next one.

I want to like it but man is the AI a case study of what no selfpreservation on a species wide level would look like, job prioritizing is a joke at best, "safe" passages are a suggestion as it appears your "braindead" colonists rather would run outside and asfixiate than take the route through buildings, Bots break down constantly regardless of maintance centers. Foood evaporates into thin air the moment sombody forgets to stock up the processors, which CANT BE PRIORITIZED... Oh yeah, Prioritizing... works on a by building basis, you can only select the entire dome you want to prioritize, meaning if you want to have something in particular only choice you have is to build dedicated domes and pair that with wonky pathfinding and map generation that is functional at best and downright hostile to AI life at worst, it just gets frustrating... Rimworld a complex, messy Mammoth of a Managment game that cou can break with a bloated workshop is more intuitive than this, while having more features AND leaving you more in charge.
I dont know what exactly the Devs did over the years, I had good memories of this game but something just broke, and my enjoyment is gone, I will look up videos of this game from some years ago and compare, also the sequel of this game seems to be in development, I sure hope they fixed what ever they f*cked up with this ones AI and Pathfinding, because I sure as hell already have to much wasted money on my hand if I look at my stain of a backlog and my Library that I share with my loved ones.

・UIや説明不足な点が多く、何が原因でスタックしているのか（資材不足なのか、AIのサボりなのか）が判別しにくい。
・後続作の『Dawn of Man』でも同様の問題が見られたため、開発元のAI設計思想には不安が残る（『2』での改善を強く望む）

Few times the same scenario, with couple perimeters to change has disappointed me entirely. This game could consist just one planet and it would be enough. Why there is no option to sent some staff for a mission?

No windowed mode. Frustrating to play on a multiple screen set up. Refunded.
I tried to give this game the best shot possible but it's honestly not good. I have 17 hours because I forced myself to try and progress to see if the difficulty curve was the issue. I also played a large chunk of these hours over a year ago and came back to it as I saw a few updates took place over the years.
1) The AI is prioritization is rigid and off putting.
In order for stuff to get done in a balanced time frame you need to enable high priority of what you want done and disable the buildings you want at a lower priority until necessary. This was mainly with the works and just trying to process minerals. I was sitting on 10 minerals and none of my works were processing them they just kept mining or doing logistics. Then the day would end, they would sleep and start over again. There are other problems with the AI but I doubt anyone is even reading this far
2) In order to play this game you have to progress so slowly that nothing goes out of balance because if you have to many colonists and your food production isn't high enough and you don't have enough beams and other materials stock pile to quickly build something you're completely screwed. You could play for 8 hours and if you expand to quickly you literally cannot recover.
3) increasing and decreasing in game speed is silly...like Ctrl+mouse wheel, F1, F2, F3, use any other base sim game to copy BASIC functionality that doesn't require my mouse hand to get off the mouse
4) The cost of habs or what ever you want to call them is not accurate. It does not take into consideration the connection between buildings. So if it's a hallway it's two additional items. If it's just a power connection, then just 1
5) When trading there is a commission system that just makes no sense. Just make the price of them item what it is.....In order for me to get 100 space bucks from a trader I have to trade stuff that is worth $106? Just make the value of selling lower than the value of purchasing. Some of the special buildings cost $400 but then when you put it in the trade window with commission I have to sell $600 worth of stuff. ALSO the quantity of your stock pile is different than the qty in your UI screen. It's normally lower
6) The game is just plain boring. Crops, doesn't matter really what you plant. You can feed your entire colony with just corn and chicken. No variety, mass production and it has no impact. Security can only have a "gun"....what kind of gun? just a gun. The relaxation room, do you need a variety of exercise equipment, water, tv? Naaah just throw benchs in there. They sit in solitude doing nothing and their happiness goes up....no different than the canteen

A single food shortage can kill a colony of hundreds.
Colonists wont work if too unhappy or hungry so once the starvation sets in a colony dies because no farmers are willing to work anymore.
Very stupid.
Otherwise it's an OK with lots of good and interesting design and gaming choices but building placment is clunky.

Pretty broken. Colonists basically have broken AI. They waste a ton of time being idle, walking around aimlessly when they could be performing tasks. I think the game has actually gotten worse with patches. Here are some wierd issues of many:
1. When colonists build structures they often trap themselves between conenction tubes forcing you to destroy parts of the base over and over again until they build the tube while standing on the correct side of the structure.
2. A colonist will bring a resource to the build site and then go back to the base only to return to build the structure. Basically once the last resource is delivered a colonist is not smart enough to realize it and build it right there and then. They have to go back to the base and then get the new assignment to build it.
3. A colonist will stop work to go get a drink of water at the canteen and then walk back to his work place only to stop working again because now he will go back to the canteen to eat. There is no mechanism to make the colonist eat and drink during the same trip and save them time. This gets even more stupid when you add in recreation because now you added more things they will pause work for and wonder around aimlessly.
4. Food is not very balanced. The two botanists assigned to you at the start have trouble feeding the initial population. Initially they produce a large quantity of food and then as you expand they base they become more incompotent as they become more preoccupied with walking around aimlessly as your colonists starve.
Its actually crazy how this childhood game is still very good till this day! 100% recommend tho, 2nd game coming out soon and probably the same+

I didn't enjoy the puzzle aspects of this game mostly and probably due to my mind not wanting to learn the game mechanics. And it didn't seem all that interesting just watching the colonists walk here and move there, build this, build that. Not very interesting eye candy goin on.
Doesn't mean it's a bad game for you just not the colony builder I was hoping for like something closer in line with Aven Colony.
The Menu options are a bit limited as well. Why cannot I adjust sounds and music while in game? And cannot I disable the mouse screen edge to edge movement and why not a simple health stats screen for your colony at the top of in-game UI?
I may revisit but for now it's a no-go IMHO.

A good timedrift not at all hard, just time gone.
I bit addictive. I like being able to build bases and build them up. I'm going to look into Planet base 2 to see if there have been improvements.

This game is basically unplayable. I can't place anything anywhere, my colonists won't stay healthy long enough to build a med bay, or they die of thirst even though I have a water extractor and water storage. It looks like a fun game and i want to play it, but it won't let me. If you like a civ builder, go play Dawn of Man, it's the same but it works.

The game is calm and requires a bit of strategy. I play while I drink my coffee.
The challenge, it was hard at time but very fun!
