Just play the game, absolute cinema from start to finish
The Last Door feels like someone took a Victorian horror novel, dunked it into a pixel-art blender and somehow the result still manages to crawl under your skin. The atmosphere is so thick you could spread it on toast. Sound design? Absolutely carrying the team. The puzzles occasionally gave me that classic adventure game moment of staring at my screen like a confused raccoon, but nothing rage quit worthy. If you enjoy slow burn horror that whispers in your ear instead of screaming in your face, this one hits the spot.

The only game I've ever played to properly capture the true 'fear of the unknown' quality of Lovecraftian horror. No guns, no generic tentacles, no jump scares... just a winding, labyrinthine story of dread, madness and dark science.

Great music, nice atmosphere, something edgar alan po like, it even startaled me couple of times, puzzles is allright (nothing difficult, but some times you can think, that you can not do something), but visualy it is somewhat lacking. I do not mind pixel artstile, but here it is more pixels, than art in a lot of cases. But still it is a nice dark atmospheric not quite horror quest with great music, if you can give some slack to visuals, and like mystical quests, so why not try it.
По воспоминаниям мне очень понравилась игра. История и мистика вокруг делают своё дело – атмосфера что надо. Музыка... балдею с заставки, правильно, что оставили и во втором сезоне эпизодов. Единственное, я не смог почему-то получить достижение за нахождение всех записок. Может действительно пропустил, может не засчиталось взаимодействие (благо в интернете есть 100% сейвы). Геймплейно квест слабый, но пойдёт. Рекомендую поиграть, хорошая игра
The Last Door er et velfungerende og stemningsfyldt gyser adventurespil, med en interessant historie der trækker effektivt på sin placering i 1890'ernes England. Spillet formår at tage de bedste elementer fra både Gothic og Cosmic Horror genrene, og levere flere velfungerende gys undervejs igennem simple virkemidler.
It would be much better if it had some polishing done here and there. Same goes for lack of saves. You want to get a proper ending and do all the right things? Oh well, poor you, you have missed the tiny little moment when the nun goes outside and vanishes into thin air, so no ending for you, go on and replay each and every chapter right from the beginning. Same goes for the extremely horrible pixel-hunting section in the library. I recommend it only for the story, since it was good.

This game maintains an unsettling calm pace for the most part until the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense as the mysteries of this story slowly unfold.
This is not a fairly difficult game, but it does require careful observation and an understanding of the different situations and puzzles presented. Each part is highly enjoyable and engaging. For me, it’s a game that immediately draws you in.

The setting is pretty dark and atmospheric, drawing heavily from Victorian-era horror and Lovecraftian myths. The level design is carefully crafted and thoughtfully supports exploration and the slow-burn narrative of the game. The Last Door é um ótimo jogo de terror cósmico. Ele foca no clima e no medo do que se esconde nas sombras de uma Inglaterra vitoriana sombria. O visual pixelado é um charme e, aliado ao design de som impecável e aos puzzles inteligentes, mantém a tensão constante sem apelar para sustos baratos. É uma experiência curta, porém profunda, que captura a essência de Lovecraft como poucas mídias conseguem.

So this is what the masterminds behind the amazing Blasphemous were doing...well the art was not there yet, that is clear.
I know this reads like a d*ckish statement (and I'm not going to stop there); but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what they were thinking with this pixel art. Every clue I can gather about the art direction, while playing the game, leads me to say that the execution of the visuals is nothing but a botch job.
The mise en scene is regularly trying things, with scripted animations made to make you feel uneasy, or to surprise you as if you were watching a good esotheric thriller: from each episode's intro leading to an opening song, to the attempts at jumpscares or set pieces.
Unfortunately, none of it works because...I mean look at it! It's so gooffy looking! It kinda works for something like The Darkside Detective, with the equally gooffy dialogues and relatively flat direction of scenes. But here? The density of pixels is way too low to convey the sense of depth in the rooms that the scene direction would need; any detail in the characters or backgrounds are barely readable as whatever the main character is describing (what do you mean these six pixels are a decrepit statue of Virgin Mary?); the characters are so limited visually that they look cartoonish, with their faces made of four pixels and necks made of two, and the animations are robotic at best. It also cannot properly show what is usable or pickable, which can sometimes lead to confusion or getting stuck during exploration (the f*cking gloves in Episode 3 that you have to find in an almost invisible coat against a wall...).
Now to be clear, this isn't me saying anything South of Blasphemous or KOF looks bad, or that this type of simple pixel art can't work, period. I don't find it particularly appealing and again it's easier to miss an object with that level of resolution; but as I said, a game like The Darkside Detective can use that resolution to its advantage.
The issue really is in the ambitions of seriousness and horror of the game ultimately dying because of the lack of care for the imagery. What that game needed was Clock Tower level of artistery. Or at least just to try...
Which is disheartening considering how much the rest of the art direction got what was needed to set and keep the tone.

The music is just excellent. It is moody and atmospheric, with great pieces for each episode. It conveys a hundred percent how grave and unfathomable the situation is for the main character.
And the sound design is doing some heavy lifting too. The sounds are varied enough, a bit crunchy, and it works. And they went for realism in that department which was the right call for that story, but would've worked even better either with no visuals at all (like a text based game) or better graphics, but I am repeating myself.

Now, it is a testament to the quality of the writing that despite really (really) not vibing with the graphics (generally a death sentence for me) I still played through the game.
Overall the dialogues, letters and documents, and the story itself are well made. Exposition is done tastefully, leaving a lot to the imagination without using vagueness as an excuse to not explain important plot points. One of the rare instances where I enjoyed the nightmare/dream sequences, a trope so over-used in gaming, especially horror, it became benine and inefficient.
The themes of faith in the face of despair and religious decorum are simply explored at times, with short and concise dialogues, that manage to say a lot with not a lot of words. And it is also a case clear inspiration that doesn't necessarily feels deritative to me.

With all that said, I would have gone for a thumb up if it were not for the gameplay. The first episode isn't too bad. The logic doesn't jump around and you mostly solve it through exploration and applying the right object in the right place: classic and basic inventory puzzles.
Starting at episode 2 though, I found some puzzles' logic to be out there (using the statue part to dull the edge of a pipe to place a fishing net on it was particularly bad as far as real life puzzle logic goes) ranging from painfully obvious to straight up bizarre. A couple of them I solved without really understanding how, even.
The pacing was hurting, leaving me with the impression that, despite telling a good story, with the right amount and length of scenes, I had spent way too much time on the game for what it had to offer.
And yet again, it is too bad, because the game as a surprising amount of small choices that can affect the short term resolution of some puzzles and story bits: a welcome addition.
And finally, at the risk of beating a dead horse at this point, there is also a major issue that affects navigation and cinematography, on top of the hard to read pixel art: the shot continuity is just bizarrely not respected. Each episode presents several cases of the character entering a door on the left, only to have to walk from left to right in the room he enters, as if the camera had switch perspective look in the other direction. Which is disorienting in the worst way, and really doesn't help conveying the spaces we go through. Episode 2 is particularly bad at that.

TL;DR
Just remake the game as a text based adventure game or using the incredible artists who made Blasphemous so gorgeous; it's a good story and an excellent soundtrack, trapped with unappealing and hardly readable pixel art, and puzzles that range from okay to (at times) jarring.

Los cuatro primeros episodios me han parecido en conjunto una muy buena historia. Una vez terminados, no estoy segure todavía de haber conseguido armar todas las piezas; lo más probable es que vuelva a jugarlo de nuevo para encontrar lo que se me ha escapado... En cuanto a los puzles, son bastante fáciles, pero compensa por el guion tan trabajado.

comprei esse jogo por ser dos mesmos desenvolvedores da franquia Blasphemous, um dos meus metroidvania de estimação, e não me arrependi. o mesmo compositor das soundtracks de Blasphemous, Carlos Viola, também trabalhou aqui e deixou sua marca com vontade. de todos os fatores desse jogo, a música está no topo, na minha opinião.
The Last Door é um jogo de puzzle com uma narrativa bem interessante, estética pixelada que viria a ser lapidada posteriormente nos próximos jogos dos devs, mas que peca no fator de que segura demais na mão do jogador. isso é bom para jogadores casuais que tendem a ficar perdidos, mas para entusiastas como eu, é um obstáculo para imersão. frases desnecessárias como "não é isso que eu estou buscando" apenas me frustram por perder a chance de descobrir algo por conta própria, mas que agora está óbvio porque o jogo me deu backseat.
I loved this game ever since I found the series as a kid online, the story is intriguing and the puzzles intuitive. I enjoy the 8-bit style and the whole feel and inspiration from Oriental tales.
Engrossing and highly atmospheric point and click adventure
Um clássico da internet, lembro de ter jogado no navegador quando mais novo, muito legal poder jogar de forma apropriada agora, um point & click divertido, te faz usar a cabeça, uma atmosfera interessante com uma historia bem bacana ao meu ver.
Tive o meu primeiro contato com The Last Door em 2014 vendo uma gameplay do Alanzoka (na época, edge) quando criança. Sempre fui fã de coisas meio de terror, mas ver aquele jogo moldou o meu gosto pra histórias pra sempre, com tudo que eu consumia tendo um pouquinho de The Last Door. Esse jogo sempre esteve ao fundo da minha mente, sempre querendo saber mais daquela história que me prendeu tanto quando criança. Agora adulto e sabendo inglês, finalmente tive grana pra comparar e valeu cada segundo. O jogo é uma grande homenagem ao terror gótico, cheio de mistérios, segredos e uma história muito instigante. A gameplay é interessante e a história de deixa curioso pra continuar e descobrir o que está acontecendo. Uma verdadeira pérola dos jogos de pixel art.
ALIÁS, TRILHA SONORA I-M-P-E-C-Á-V-E-L!!!! Não sei com qual demônio o Carlos Viola fez pacto pra compor a soundtrack, mas o cara claramente vendeu a alma. É a única explicação possível pra o quão perfeita é a trilha sonora desse jogo. A música é um componente essencial em The Last Door, criando uma ambientação sombria que te engole por inteiro. Várias vezes me vi parada na gameplay só pra poder apreciar a música um pouco mais. É fora de série.
Enfim, se você tem um inglês bacana, recomendo demais. Vale cada segundo. Mergulhe nesse mistério junto com o protagonista e veja o que há além da última porta!

Türkçe dil desteği bulunan oyunun oynanış süresi de tam tadında. 4-5 saat gibi bir sürede çok rahat bitirebileceğiniz oyun, sizi fazla sıkmadan hikâyeyi sona bağlıyor. İndirimlerde türü sevenlerin muhakkak denemesini tavsiye ediyorum.

Season One feels like someone dared someone who has only ever seen furniture through Sears catalog scans to code “fear” using only MS Paint and whatever violin sample came free with Audacity. Every room looks like Ikea furniture rendered by a stroke victim, and somehow your brain still goes, “Cool, this is where the ghosts eat us.”
The gameplay is less “interactive experience” and more “digital self-harm ritual.”
You click something.
It ignores you.
You click again, like maybe this time the world will answer.
The puzzles feel specifically engineered to make you doubt your literacy. They give you everything except the one clue that would make it solvable, like a teacher handing out worksheets with invisible ink answers just to assert dominance. One mistake and you’re on Google, scrolling through walkthroughs clearly written by people whose parents expected more from them.
And yet the whole thing works.
The atmosphere is damp British institutional sadness.
You don’t see the ghosts... you just feel their custody paperwork floating in the air.
It radiates that abandoned school building energy, like you’re a flashlight away from discovering a child-sized desk with claw marks.
It’s short, weird, and unsettling in a way that feels accidental, like a PSA pamphlet accidentally became self-aware and started crying.

Con el alma profunda del terror clásico sacado de la época de Lovecraft, Poe y derivados. Con un pixelart nostálgico y puzles dignos de DIG o cualquiera de los juegos de los inicios del género. Last Door es perfecto para los amantes de juegos de estas caracteristicas. Recomnedado, por supuesto.
Destacable un apartado musical que encaja perfectamente con la estética previamente mencionada. Sencillo, tipo midi, ambiental y perfecto para el juego y los jugadores más veteranos.

This is Part 1 of a point and click pixel art game. The art and atmosphere are very excellent. It is a pretty good point and click. It's definitely on the simpler side in terms of the puzzles and gameplay, which are not particularly mind blowing. Not that you are expecting that in a point and click anyway.
But, the story and horror/mystery intrigue are what you are here for, and that is quite good. It's more cosmic horror adjacent in its horror for sure, with many occult themes. The personal story of the characters is interesting also.
It isn't mind blowing, but the story was interesting enough that I also bought the second game in the series and will likely play it sometime.

Easily one of the best point and click, if not the best point and click you could ever play. Heavily inspired by Edgar A. Poe and H. P. Lovecraft, it manages to have its own essence with a masterful work for both storytelling and music.
Casi me da una embolia cerebral en más de un momento de todo el juego, pero he de decir que justo eso fue lo que me pareció más disfrutable. The last Door es un juego como ningún otro que haya jugado, sencillo visualmente, pesado mentalmente.
Sus retos y puzzles son geniales, y con ello debo mencionar lo segundo que más destaco, la música... Esta historia vive de su música, su ambiente, sus melodías tristes y profundas, incluso, podríamos decir que oscuras, como la ciudad en que nos vemos atrapados en la trama, y estoy seguro que sin el trabajo del compositor Carlos Viola, este juego no sería lo que es, un deleite sonoro...
Me encantó, aun con una historia que puede ser un poco entrevesada y ese final... me gustó mucho ver el atisbo religioso que The Game Kitchen ya dejaba ver, y luego explotarían al máximo en el que es para mi su mejor juego, Blasphemous (y que también amo, por cierto).

The Last Door is a nice indie point-and-click adventure game set in Victorian England.
I'd call the story an amalgamation of Lovecraft and Poe, and since I've read all of these authors' works I was able to appreciate the references. However, you don't need to know anything about these authors to enjoy this game since it's a solid Gothic horror adventure all on its own.
I was skeptical of the graphics at first because they are quite simple, but I never had any trouble finding the objects I needed to progress so there is no need to worry about pixel hunting. The pixel art also does a good job of expressing horrific and disturbing scenes in spite of its simplicity.
I also didn't have any issues with the puzzles. What you need to do makes sense so I didn't encounter any of the moon logic that is sometimes present in other adventure games. I especially liked the fog puzzle near the end of the game because I hadn't seen one like that before and I thought it was clever.
This game is short but feels like the right length to tell its story. There are also some extras that contain scenes that occur after the events of the game. These don't take very long to finish but were still interesting.
Overall, I'd say this is a decent point-and-click adventure game. While I have played a fair amount of games in this genre, I haven't experienced many horror-themed ones so The Last Door was a welcome addition to my library.
A truly exciting pixel game set in the Victorian England, where you travel as Devitt and experience nerve-wracking events and strange people.
The storytelling mixed with well designed sounds and music make the game quite captivating. At times, however, the game could use more stuff to do or more detailed object exploration for example. Storytelling is at the core of the game, and everything else comes along with it. Quite often, the items you acquire are almost always used for the next blocking problem and you don't have to ponder long about how to move forward. In the end the game is largely just a story, and it's interesting enough that you'll want to play through it. The intro music really sets the mood perfectly.

Haven't enjoyed a point and click adventure game since Sam and Max. This time, into a Victorian tale that blends cosmic and gothic horror. Jeremiah Devitt seeks out an old friend, only to be pulled into a mystery that might have been best left alone.
The most distinct thing of the game is its particular artstyle: a very old-fashioned pixellated look that, while a nice throwback to a bygone era, does lack in visual detail that could be a bother and even dilute the horror somewhat.
The soundtrack is a nice, melancholic score by Carlos Viola. After hearing his work in the Blasphemous games, I'm not at all surprised that the music is great.
The main gameplay, of course, are the puzzles. Exploration, finding things to unlock other things, and deciphering cryptic clues. All good stuff. Only once did I run into one that left me genuinely stumped enough to seek a guide, but there were other periods where figuring out what to do next was a bit unclear. Beyond that, they were fun brain teasers.
[spoiler]While definitely a horror story, the mood feels more melancholic than frightening. A shadow looms over Devitt's journey. While individual characters didn't exactly stand out to me, the greater narrative mystery remained the main lure. Sometimes things could be cryptic to the point of confusing or even coming off as a meaningless side tangent, but they do add to the overall atmosphere. That said, each episode starts off strong and that helped a lot with keeping my interest.[/spoiler]
By about halfway through, I was certain I wanted to see everything and got the sequel while the Autumn sale was still up. [spoiler]I think this installment can stand on its own without the sequel, but the two definitely work better together.[/spoiler]
If like brain teasers and a different flavor of horror than what's current, give this a try.
Great Story, the sound design really creates such a tight atmosphere, it's great
Really enjoyed this play-through. It's not particularly difficult but it is very atmospheric and the use of various sound effects really add to the darkness of this game. The graphics are wonderfully 8 bit pixels and whilst I initially thought they were a little too low-fi it actually didn't impact the game play in any shape or form. None of the puzzles were of the impossible variety although some stretched the imagination a little. The logic puzzles were a little too basic, just a case of clicking randomly and it would eventually solve itself without any brain power. That said, the flow of the game was fantastic and there was enough direction through-out so you knew exactly where to go and what to do next rather than wander around aimlessly clicking which can often be a major problem in point and click adventures. Really good, looking forward to playing part 2.

I hoped the art style would grow on me but sadly it didn't. The sound design is pretty good though. Overall an interesting story and very well worth it for the price, especially during a sale.
Absolutely amazing game. Reminds me of the Hugo Trilogy but much simpler with an awesome creepy Poe like story.
I loved the story in this game - the pacing and storytelling were great! The pixelated style of the game can making seeing all the relevant details a bit difficult at time, but the game doesn't make it too difficult to find what you need to find. Looking forward to playing Season 2!

Les énigmes ne sont pas compliquées et ne demandent pas de s'équiper d'un postiche a la fin du jeu.

Le petit point noir sont les graphismes, qui sont trop gros et immonde sur un écran de bureau.

When Jeremiah Devitt receives a cryptic letter from his old schoolmate, Anthony Beechworth, something awakens inside of him. A heavy feeling of wrongness urges him to pay a visit to Anthony, yet all he finds is an abandoned manor. A long-forgotten memories slowly begin to resurface as he searches the empty rooms for answers. With every step taken, he gets deeper down the rabbit hole into the darkness, yet there is no turning back. All it takes to uncover the truth is to cross the last threshold.
[i]The Last Door[/i] is an excellent point&click adventure game. The atmosphere of Victorian England is chilling, unsettling, in some moments even creepy! The soundtrack is exceptional and nicely corresponds with the ubiquitous occult mood. The pixel graphic, even though simple, is just perfect and you can feel the tension, emotions, horror from every screen. Oh, and can't forget about the great writing, I had the same feeling as when reading some novel from Edgar Alan Poe or H.P. Lovecraft! We won't get answers for everything that happens, but that's actually okay, there is no need to be literal. The lore is quite interesting and the mysteries stimulates our imagination even after completing the game!
The whole game is divided into four episodes. Each takes place in a different location, yet the goal remains the same - learn more about Devitt's past and uncover the secret behind the [i]Last Door[/i]. Upon completing the main episodes, we can get an insight into the events through very short minisodes. The game is short with great pacing and can be completed in one sitting, which is the best approach in my opinion. Even though the game ends with a cliffhanger, worry not, as more secrets await you in the second season!
I have enjoyed [i]The Last Door[/i] very much! Everything about it charmed me, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to lovers of adventure games, mystery, and horror stories!

Perfect classic.
Atmosphère "gothique" vraiment réussie avec une certaine qualité narrative qui l'emporte sur la facilité et les graphismes.

J'ai une faible expérience de ce type de jeu, à vrai dire c'est mon premier mais je ressens l'atmosphère des vieux P&C que j'ai pu voir sur internet.
Le jeu n'est pas si simple sans pour autant être frustrant. Le scénario tient en haleine et il arrive à procurer des moments de légère tension.

I remember I bought this game because I saw a YouTuber play it when I was a teenager, and I thought it reminded me of Edgar Allan Poe's writing. Now having played it, it truly does! You can see that the game took a lot of inspiration from classic horror, and I believe that the translation into the gaming genre was done really well. The story is intriguing and each chapter leaves you with an even bigger thirst to unravel the truth about what Devitt was REALLY up to in that boarding school. Speaking of Devitt, the game managed to make one of classic horror's most used tropes (which is making the main character as generic as possible, while also making him go through absurdly unhinged experiences; you know, for balance) and not annoy me! This little guy actually has something going on! And religious trauma!
The environments are beautifully made, though the sprites for the characters remain really simple. It doesn't affect the seriousness of the situation, though, as I found myself filled with dread multiple times throughout my playthrough. I wouldn't say I was truly scared, but this type of horror isn't about giving you nightmares, it's about the building of dread, the anxiety in the face of the unknown, the uncomfortable feeling when you know you are not safe but you aren't sure where the danger will come from. That is to say, although I did not lose any sleep over The Last Door, it had really effective horror elements to it, so bravo to everyone involved in the development!
That being said, I do have a few criticisms. Some of the puzzles, for example, have proven to be a lot more difficult than I anticipated. For example, there is an object at a certain moment that you are unable to reach and the solution is not to look for something long and thin to reach it, but to look for something to blow it. It took me ages to realize I could do that. Perhaps I'm simply stupid. Alas, I believe puzzles with a few odd solutions are an issue with the point and click genre overall, so I don't want to dwell much on it. To be quite honest, a lot of the puzzles are really clever and tie nicely with one another. The fact the launcher for Linux does not work is a lot more frustrating, anyway.
This game requires additional software to run on any Linux distro, and it comes with an in-game launcher. The problem is, this launcher does not work. I do not remember how I installed Steam on this computer, if it was via Flatpack or directly from the internet (the permissions of a few software changes depending on whether or not you are downloading them in Flatpack), so I'm not sure if the installation process would be smoother depending on how you got Steam in the first place, but it's rather frustrating that this installation feature exists without really existing - especially at a time where we are finally seeing more Linux users on Steam. Anyway, I managed to download everything on my actual terminal by following a tutorial and there were no further issues.
Overall, it's a really good experience if you're on Windows and think out of the box, but you can still have a lot of fun if you're on Linux

Tras volver a jugarlo después de muchos años, creo que los puzles han quedado algo simples y sin mucho riesgo. No malos, pero algo normalitos, con solo el de la niebla con algo más de originalidad. Pero el juego sigue siendo altamente recomendable porque la historia está bastante bien, un misterio de fantasmas y sectas que bebe mucho del estilo de Edgar Allan Poe y que aunque quede abierta para una segunda parte (algún día compraré la temporada 2) sigue sosteniéndose por sí misma. Pero lo que realmente destaca es su ambientación, un pepinaco que sí ha envejecido como el buen vino, gracias a su sobrio pixel art y sus golpes de efecto con los cuervos y al mal rollo general que destila, me encanta. El mejor episodio sigue siendo el primero, por cierto.
No le veo la gracia y soy un gran fan de Blasphemous. Creo que la mayor virtud de Blasphemous es captar la esencia española profunda y su folclore, algo que en Last Door no se consigue. Ese ambiente inglés es el típico que uno imagina como extranjero, ni la atmósfera ni la historia tienen magia, bastante convencional todo.

It was a great Poe tier adventure
I never finished this game on steam, but I have played it on various flash sites back when i was a teenager. This is a game both my younger cousin and I deeply loved. It has fantastic story and engaging puzzles. Seeing it on steam filled me with joy. Anyway, i hard recommend this game. definitely a favourite of all time, partly because of the nostalgia value it holds for me.

I enjoy some point and click games - not this one. The scenes from the trailer and screenshots I've seen look great, but I shouldn't have to suffer before getting to decent parts.
The movement is torturously slow and it is just boring. People with cystic fibrosis can move faster than you do in this game. "I'll take my damned time, thank you very much" the game. And yeah, it might not be much slower than other point and click games but 0.4x slower speed is very noticeable and painful. Reminds me of some people IRL (not a good thing). Move faster and stop standing on the escalator. You can walk on the escalators instead of freezing, you insufferable eejits! If anyone wants a lesson on walking, I'm more than happy to oblige.
After slowly walking through the house multiple times like I have anterograde amnesia and not finding what I'm supposed to use the hammer on, I have given up.
Anyway, for buddhists and any master of patience, this game might be okay. What I have played so far has no atmosphere besides a room suddenly having birds in it. I was kind of excited when I saw that. I thought maybe the game would get exciting, but then it took 10 seconds to leave the room and I realised I would have to do another 20 minutes of walking before something interesting happens. I want to make the most of my life. I don't have time for this.
For people who do enjoy this game, I recommend The Longing. It's probably inspired by this game.
Anyway, I don't really hold back with my reviews but I like to be positive at the end.
It may be a bit crap, it may take longer to cross a room in this game than reading Google's terms and conditions, but it's got a nice thumbnail and trailer - and that... well that's just great, isn't it?

Ahem. I appreciate the work that goes into making games and I can see that effort was put into this one. I do not recommend it but many people do recommend it, and they have a reason. I will try to play more, so I can find something positive to say. Edit: Chapter 2 is much better so far. The text box background pattern is nice, it reminds me of Damask wallpaper. This chapter actually has atmosphere unlike the first one. I like the cutting back and forth between the guy doing... catholic stuff and the text. The pixel art is also nice, a lot more detailed than in the first chapter. Also the player character moves like a normal person now, so that feels great. If the game continues being decent from now on, I will change this to a positive review.

Spooky and haunting. Even on replay, there is still a sense of unease when navigating. I like to search for as many secrets as possible when replaying. I especially enjoy the characters and dialog, allowing them to become more distinguishable between one another - even without a face to put on them, lol.
This is just season 1 so prepare for a cliffhanger however I enjoyed the story and will be doing season 2 next Saturday
По началу могут отпугнуть гигантские пиксели, но сфокусировавшись на сюжете, музыке и головоломках, вы не сможете оторваться. Макабрический оккультный сюжет, атмосферные локации, интересные персонажи и классический Point & Click-геймплей. Всё чего нам так не хватало. Если пропустили эту игру, обязательно исправьте эту досадную оплошность. А угадайте что? Есть прямое продолжение этой игры нисколько не хуже первой части, где нам ответят на все вопросы. Ура!

the last door has an intriguing way of storytelling and captivates you in its atmosphere with its impeccable soundtracks. i, personally really love pixel art games, and i really love how the environments are designed and used in the last door. the way the story develops right before your eyes masterfully makes you question and curious about the rest of it. this is my childhood game and i still find it amazing. thank you for this masterpiece.

Przed nami odcinek cokolwiek jubileuszowy, ale gra jest powiedzmy świetna w sposób dość zwyczajny. Ta cała recenzja to właściwie moja próba rozciągnięcia stwierdzenia "Świetny point'n click, bardzo klimatyczny, polecam." na dłuższy tekst.
The Last Door jest może o tyle intrygujące, że bierze kilka motywów, które są już głęboko zeksplorowane (pixel art, point'n click oraz inspiracje lovecraftem) i mimo ogromnej konkurencji jakoś dla mnie w tym wszystkim wygrywa. Dlaczego? Do końca nie wiem ale widzę kilka powiedzmy poszlak.
Zacznijmy od warstwy wizualnej. Jest to wszystko strasznie blokowate, ale jednocześnie na to wszystko jest nałożone świetne oświetleniem. Tym gra wiele osiąga. Powiedziałbym jednak że w ogólności oddanie wszelkiego rodzaju paranormalnych elementów świetnie się udało.
To chyba z resztą największy hook The Last Door. Elementy paranormalne są wprowadzane bardzo umiejętnie i w ogólności cała podróż od znajomego do obcego wyszła grze bardzo zgrabnie. Sceny pierwszych interakcji z tajemniczymi krukami wspaniale zbudowały we mnie napięcie?
Jak z zagadkami? Nie zapamiętałem ich jakoś szczególnie. Było trochę moon logic, ale nic nie do przebrnięcia. Jest ok, nie ma co się rozpisywać.
To chyba byłoby tyle. Dla fanów point'n clicków zdecydowanie gratka. Gra jest dystrybuowana w dwóch partach i oba są warte uwagi, ale zaprzestanie na pierwszym też jest opcją. Mi się podobało i polecam.
