The Crow's Eye очень интересная головоломка с элементами хоррора.
Играть вы будете за молодого человека, который очнулся в заброшенном Кровсвудском медуниверситете. Он не помнит ничего и не знает, как здесь оказался. Почти везде установлены камеры, а страшный голос вводит вас в курс дела. Почти 20 лет назад в этом университете пропали 4 студента, потом полицейские и следователи. Но никто так и не разгадал загадку пропажи людей. Вас ожидает много головоломок, создание предметов. Сюжет построен на записках и аудиозаписях, которые мы находим в процессе игры. Внимательно читайте и слушайте, так как можно узнать много интересного и разгадать, что же на самом деле произошло в стенах медуниверситета.
Графика простенькая, но игра затягивает своим сюжетом и атмосферой. Музыкальное сопровождение наоборот отличное, а уж как переданы скрипы пола и открывшихся дверей.
P.S. У меня был баг с достижением «Медаль за отвагу», хотя я на сто процентов уверена, что собрала всё. Переигрывала игру 2 раза и всё равно один и тот же результат. Из обсуждений поняла что такое бывает не у всех. Пришлось решать проблему через автосейфы, которые взяла в одном из обсуждений. В остальном проблем не было.
Рекомендую, особенно по скидке.

I just finished The Crow’s Eye today. I streamed the whole thing to my buddy, M, and we were both completely hooked on the story. It’s intriguing as hell; there’s something about the mystery and the way the narrative unfolds that is eerie but weirdly yummy. That said… it’s pretty slow-paced. Like, really slow. Like, test my patience-slow.

Now, full disclosure: I do not like horror or jump scares. So when the game decided to randomly shove a worm (or whatever the F that thing was) on my face… let’s just say... I did not appreciate it!

Also, if you have in mind that this game is actually from 2017, I think it holds up way better than expected. I enjoyed playing it - but wont revisit the worm-thingies.

Although the price of admission is far from unrealistic (at ten bucks it's ultimately decent "value"), and I do want to salute the obvious efforts that went into making this, I don't feel like I can recommend it: not for what it appears to be on the face of it (a horror walking sim) nor for what it actually ends up being (an exposition heavy puzzle platformer). Whether you are searching for the former, and you won't find it here, or are okay for the ladtter and would be better off playing another game, The Crow's Eye kind of falls short of achieving anything, while strangely doing a lot.

At first you might be willing to regard the game as an Amnesia or a Layers Of Fear like experience: dark abandonned hallways, notes everywhere, and a voice over ominously spewing exposition as menacingly as a comic book jester. The music is filling the quietness with some eerie vibes (very decent OST at times!), and the dated yet charming graphics are doing a decent job maintaining a sense that something awful is going to end up chasing you through these hallways.

(not even a) Spoiler alert: that ain't happening.

After being grabbed once by a weird worm, a thing that happened to me twice total in the roughly 7-8hrs it took me to finish the game and that I don't remember getting an explanation for, you're good to sprint, throw objects at walls and play the piano as your heart content without any risk of a titular crow coming to peck you.

You'll quickly realize though that the game is turning fast into a weird combination of heavy duty story exposition and puzzle plateformer. And it's having a lot of trouble doing either part of the job.

Between the constantly interrupting vilain, who's voice actor seems to have the time of his life playing him, the dozens of pretty well acted audiologs you find laying on the ground and tables in every room, and a sum of written documents that would be more suited for a 40hrs immersive sim than a less than 10hrs puzzle game, the story is RICH. As in "burger with 300gr of beef, bacon and triply fried french fries with mayo, and could you add a sundae and a liter of soda? No sugar please, I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake, please" rich. There is A LOT. Every single document is a full page 5 paragraphs worth of reading, and after a while, I just stopped caring. Reading dev comments on other reviews, I understand there were supposed to be even more documents, but they had to cut it...being brutally honest, I must say "good riddance".

To be clear, the issue here is not really the quality of the writing per se; it is not great, but each document and audiolog is serviceable in its own right to either intrigue or carry information while maintaining the tone. The issue is the pacing and the abondance of it all, that gives the impression that the writers couldn't prioritize.

That combines with a level design that, although okay-ish to push you to move forward, is painfully inept at telling anything; every visual theme is exhausted by the moment you leave it behind. The layout of the extended University ground is nonsensical. And because it combines with the bagillion pieces of paper that needed to be put somewhere, you end up traversing places that really don't feel like places, and finding documents in the weirdest locations. I couldn't tell you if at some point I ended up in some character's actual office for example; might be the case, but if it were, it's all very poorly telegraphed.

Gameplay wise, the game then devolves into two things: exploring to find keys/batteries to help you progress, or to find crafting items for the inexplicably there crafting system (why is it there? Why does it exist? Except to had one more step to finding the map or a lockpick); or the actual crux of the game, solving jumping puzzles.

The puzzles are nothing to write home about. They often use the fleemziest metal cubes in gaming history, and rely on an okay jumping physics that rarely completely misses the mark but can occasionally falter when the level design is not serious enough (the push mechanic in particular is always weird to use).

Here is the deal. If the game had half the documents, half the length, ditched the nightmare/dreamy sequences (admittedly short in general) and was just the weird dude being mean over the phone while you were jumping around...it wouldn't be a great game, but it'd be tighter and probably a better experience imho. As is, it's the second worst first person horror plateforming game I've played, thankfully far far behind the asinine third sequel to Penumbra, Requiem. I am basically saying they did a better job at this than Frictional; it just so happen that it's agains their worst game, so take that as you wish.

TL;DR
It's hard to really say it's not "worth" the low price of admission. But it's equally hard to recommend as it falls short of being anything more than mediocre at its best. It is inexplicably filled with ton of work and baffling design choices, an okay horror premise delivered by a weird discount Joker, which gives it some fascinating quality...not much of sale's pitch though.

What a game, it has some BioShock vibes with the art style, great mechanic of crafting bandages and optional map parts, highly enjoyable even though at times I had to use a guide. I used a text guide posted by someone on Steam, copied all the text and pasted it in Obsidian, deleting the text describing the areas I've been through, so that I dont look up each time where is the current place I'm in the guide

avventura horror indie che ho scoperto per caso. Viste le recensioni miste mi aspettavo poco invece mi ha sorpreso. E' basata su esplorazione ed enigmi (abbastanza facili e con un minimo di backtracking), non ci sono mostri che inseguono, quindi la tensione sarà creata dall'ambientazione più che dal gameplay. In varie recensioni ci si lamenta delle fasi platform ma con un gamepad le ho trovate tutt'altro che ostiche, anzi mi hanno piacevolmente divertito. La produzione a basso budget si evince dai personaggi quasi assenti, e la storia che è narrata solo da documenti ed audio (Il villain usa un tono di voce alla Joker assolutamente farsesco e fuori luogo ma vabbeh). La grafica in Unity è discreta (specie applicandoci un bel reshade come ho fatto io) anche se pesantina in 4k. Voto 7 su 10

This game has a very cool concept and atmosphere but the sheer amount of puzzles in this game is insanely annoying and dreadful to get through. It is speed runnable though so that's cool. But there are around 15-20 puzzles per level and it gets redundant and boring after the first few levels.

Oynamak için geç kaldığım bu yapımı keşke daha önce kurup oyna saymışım. Türkçe dil dosyası oyunla birlikte geliyormuş. Bir kaç saat denedim ve beğendim. Çeviren Sayın DOĞUKAN beye çok teşekkürler. Önce Linux sürümünü kurmuştum. Burada Türkçe dil dosyası kurulumda gelmiyor idi. Bu yüzden sonrasında windowsa kurdum. Orada Türkçe dil dosyası kurulumla birlikte geldi. Bundan önce aldanıp desteğin olmadığını sandım birkaç gün. Hatta çeviriye başlamıştım. %25ini çevirmiştim. Windows kurulumundan sonra şaşkınlığım ile yüzleştiğimde hem sevindim hem de buruk bir duygu yaşamış oldum. Şimdi keyifle bu sanat eserinin tadını çıkaracağım. Teşekkürler. Sizden ricam lütfen linux sürümüne de bu dil dosyasının eklenmesini sağlamanız. Oyun bilimkurgu gerilim-korku ve eski yıllarda geçiyor. Oh bayılırım. Atmosferi harika oynamayan oyunculara şans vermelerini öneririm. Satın alırken ki anımı hatırlıyorum. Bu oyunun cazibesi mağaza sayfasından bile anlaşılıyordu. Head bobbing and terrible flickering that make me nauseous. Far too demanding on the computer for how it looks, which is 15 years out of date. And you can only save at certain locations. It had an interesting start but I could not keep playing.

The Crow's Eye est l'exemple parfait du jeu qui dort dans la bibliothèque pendant 10 ans et puis, faute de savoir à quoi jouer, on se dit "et pourquoi pas?"

Et c'est là que la bonne surprise arrive.

The Crow's Eye doit beaucoup à son ambiance à la Amnesia, un bon produit de son temps. Le gameplay est plus ou moins similaire, mais la grosse différence réside dans le fait que ceci n'est PAS un jeu d'horreur. C'est avant tout un jeu d'énigmes teinté de mystères.

Les énigmes sont originales, jamais trop dures ni frustrantes, l'histoire est intrigante et facile à suivre (notamment avec les nombreux enregistrements audios). En 4 heures, le jeu arrive à surprendre et à divertir sans jamais pour autant nous ennuyer. Petit bémol pour la toute fin que j'ai trouvé assez longue, mais globalement c'est vraiment une très bonne surprise.

Facilement soldé à 5€, le jeu vous occupera pendant une grosse après-midi si vous aimez le genre ou que vous êtes un peu nostalgique des jeux du type Amnesia !

Отличная игра. Даже для махровых квестоманов, не желающих в QTE и т.п. (like me). Умираешь часто, но не смертельно, жизненной маны хватает всегда. Эти быстрые/прыгательные сцены даже придают игре некую пикантность.
Есть настоящие классические головоломки, очень необычно реализованные.
А уж бродить по разнообразным локациям/изучать интересное-красивое/подбирать полезное - сколько душе угодно.
Игра совсем не даёт заскучать. [spoiler] Только в конце дядька уж больно разболтался [/spoiler]
Мне очень понравилось. 8/10
П.С. Игра недоценена. Тем, кто хочет жутких пугалок и непрерывного экшена 100% нужно пройти мимо, даже не начинайте, чтобы не портить потом обзоры такой замечательной игре.

Chcę zacząć od tego, że osobiście The Crow's Eye mi się podobało. Jednak nie wydaje mi się, że bym mógł polecić tę grę komuś innemu.

Twórcy chcieli mieć bogatą rozgrywkę i umieścili w niej dużo elementów, które są zbędne. Jest system życia, które tak naprawdę ubywa głównie tylko przy elementach platformowych. Jest system tworzenia przedmiotów, tylko więcej niż raz można stworzyć trzy przedmioty, głównie bandaże, dla straconego w elementach platformowych życia. Jest otwieranie zamków, bardzo proste, ale wytrącające gracza z chwili. W późniejszej fazie rozgrywki jest specjalne narzędzie, którego celność pozostawia wiele do życzenia. Gra próbuje mieć elementy horrorowe, ale dość szybko z gry ubywa całe napięcie. Zwłaszcza, kiedy zmusza do rozwiązywani prostych zagadek, przerywając obecną narratywę. Elementy platformowe są znośne, tylko ze względu na dość szybko odblokowywaną mechanikę, ale jeśli potrzeba dodawać specjalne mechaniki, aby element gry był znośny, to czy nie znaczy to, że może lepiej ten element wyciąć?

Inną sprawą jest zły balans światła. Gra jest ciemna, aby próbować utrzymać napięcie, ale jak pokazuje przerywnik wskazujący, gdzie się udać, to praktycznie nie widać co pokazuje. Chyba że uda ci się przewidzieć, że w tamtym miejscu należy być, to można pójść ze źródłem światła i zaobserwować, że główna postać nie ma żadnego modelu. Zrozumiałe, ale wytrącające z imersji.

Jeśli chodzi o historię, to jest ok, ale nic więcej. W pewnym momencie wydawało mi się, że zmierza w innym kierunku, ale jest czym jest. Jedyne co, to aktor głosowy głównego antagonisty za bardzo się stara brzmieć na niezrównoważonego.

Należy nadmienić, że rozgrywka jest dość długa, więc przynajmniej otrzymuje się dużą zawartość za cenę. Dodatkowo specjalne wyzwania też ją wydłużają. (Chociaż jest w nich nieznośne to, że nie można w nich resetować elementów czasowych, zwłaszcza jednego z wyznaczonym czasem dwóch minut..)

Twórcy gry dalej się udzielają w dyskusjach, także wsparcie jest na plus (chociaż trzeba poczekać parę dni, aby dostać odpowiedź)

Muy, muy buen juego.

Ambientado en una universidad de medicina, tu trabajo será investigar el paradero de ciertos desaparecidos. A medida que transcurre el tiempo descubrirás hechos muy interesantes que te harán volar la cabeza.

La ambientación es perfecta, los sonidos del silencio, el crujir de la madera... todo te puede poner los pelos de punta.

Es un thriller en toda regla, tiene mucha intriga, puzzles, una pizca de horror pero nada de sustos fáciles ni monstruos grotescos que te persiguen; es un juego para ir un poco de chill mientras te devanas los sesos.

Tiene una buena historia, muchos artículos que recoger y leer o escuchar, y la delicada forma de presentación es muy agradable, además, la forma en que se escuchan las grabaciones recuerda a Bioshock, ese guiño está genial.

La forma de guardar también es muy original y taaaaambién recuerdo a Bioshock, me encantó.

La banda sonora es muy buena, muy adecuada para el lugar donde estamos; hay piezas tristes y piezas horribles, en el sentido de que pueden llegar a asustarte un poco, mayoritariamente usan el violín y el piano (instrumentos favoritos) así que es un placer escuchar la música. Gran banda sonora que recomiendo adquirir también.

Hay logros de Steam, cosa que me alegra mucho, no así cromos (o yo no los he visto), sería genial que también hubiera una insignia de este juego.

Los personajes muy logrados, los actores y actrices de doblaje hicieron un muy buen trabajo, y los niveles de dificultad, oh, a veces te pueden quebrar la cabeza, pero nada que no se pueda solucionar al fin y al cabo.

Tiene muy buena traducción al castellano (diría que parte del equipo es de habla hispana por lo que ví en los créditos, ¡¡genial!!), además de un buen apartado para configuración y al parecer también tiene algunos retos a desbloquear adyacente a la historia (tengo que ver eso). El tiempo de juego han sido 13 horas, aunque depende de si observas, te p ierdes, te quiebras la cabeza, etc.

Es rejugable según creo yo, y más cuando quieres sacarte todos los logros.

Molt, molt bon joc.

Ambientat en una universitat de medicina, la teva feina serà investigar el parador de certs desapareguts. A mesura que transcorre el temps descobriràs fets molt interessants que us faran volar el cap.

L'ambientació és perfecta, els sons del silenci, el cruixir de la fusta... tot us pot posar els pèls de punta.

És un thriller en tota regla, té molta intriga, puzles, un pessic d'horror però res d'ensurts fàcils ni monstres grotescs que et persegueixen; és un joc per anar una mica de chill mentre et debanes els cervells.

Té una bona història, molts articles que recollir i llegir o escoltar, i la delicada forma de presentació és molt agradable, a més, la manera com s'escolten els enregistraments recorda a Bioshock, aquesta picada d'ullet està genial.

La forma de guardar també és molt original i taaaaambé record a Bioshock, em va encantar.

La banda sonora és molt bona, molt adequada per al lloc on som; hi ha peces tristes i peces horribles, en el sentit que poden arribar a espantar-te una mica, majoritàriament fan servir el violí i el piano (instruments favorits) així que és un plaer escoltar la música. Gran banda sonora que recomano adquirir també.

Hi ha èxits de Steam, cosa que m'al·legra molt, no així cromos (o jo no els he vist), seria genial que també hi hagués una insígnia d'aquest joc.

Els personatges molt aconseguits, els actors i actrius de doblatge van fer una molt bona feina, i els nivells de dificultat, oh, de vegades et poden trencar el cap, però res que no es pugui solucionar al capdavall.

Té molt bona traducció al castellà (diria que part de l'equip és de parla hispana pel que vaig veure als crèdits, ¡genial!!), a més d'un bon apartat per a configuració i pel que sembla també té alguns reptes a desbloquejar adjacent a la història (he de veure això). Very, very good game.

Set in a medical university, your job will be to investigate the whereabouts of certain missing persons. As time passes you will discover very interesting facts that will blow your mind.

The setting is perfect, the sounds of silence, the creak of wood... everything can make your hair stand on end.

It is a full-fledged thriller, it has a lot of intrigue, puzzles, a hint of horror but no easy scares or grotesque monsters that chase you; is a game to go a little chill while you rack your brains.

It has a good story, many articles to pick up and read or listen to, and the delicate way of presentation is very nice, also, the way the recordings are heard is reminiscent of Bioshock, that wink is great.

The way of saving is also very original and I also remember Bioshock, I loved it.

The soundtrack is very good, very suitable for the place where we are; there are sad pieces and horrible pieces, in the sense that they can scare you a bit, they mostly use violin and piano (favorite instruments) so it's a pleasure to listen to the music. Great soundtrack that I recommend purchasing as well.

There are Steam achievements, which I'm very happy about, not trading cards (or I haven't seen them), it would be great if there was also a badge for this game.

The characters are very accomplished, the voice actors and actresses did a very good job, and the difficulty levels, oh, they can break your head sometimes, but nothing that can't be solved after all.

It has a very good translation into Spanish (I would say that part of the team is Spanish speaking from what I saw in the credits, great!!), as well as a good section for configuration and apparently it also has some challenges to unlock adjacent to the history (I have to see that). The game time has been 13 hours, although it depends on whether you observe, you get lost, you break your head, etc.

It is replayable as I think, and more when you want to get all the achievements.

Neutral review: I'm thrilled to see a designer who doesn't think finding batteries or matches is the height of gameplay. The game is decent, but for some reason one of the main characters decided to do a super over the top joker impersonation that was annoying and did not at all fit the tone of the game. I was having a decent time, then got to an annoying block puzzle, tried a few times and kinda gave up on the game. As someone who enjoys horror that isn't just refilling batteries and hiding from monsters, I would love to see more atmospheric games like this, and I'll for sure check out their next game. 6/10

Начну с самого неприятного - оптимизация. Хз почему, но фпс 20-25, при том, что комп достаточно мощной, для игр такого типа уж точно. Но по сути это самый главный минус. Остальные составляющие игры очень даже не плохи. Загадки не такие уж и казуальные, сюжет такой свеженький. Атмосфера нагнетает только первый час максимум, потом ты понимаешь, что тут по сути то и бояться нечего.

Совершенно не рекомендую любителям логических игр, хорошего сюжета, головоломок, хорроров и вообще тем, у кого есть вкус.
Блеклая бродилка с элементами платформера, тупыми загадками а-ля "найди ключ в той же комнате, где и дверь", "подвинь ящик вон на ту светящуюся платформу", "скрафти из 3х предметов, которые лежат тут же хрень, которая пригодится 1-2 раза за игру" и "перепрыгни 5 платформ, чтобы нажать рычаг".
Скучно стало минут через 40 от начала, раздражать начало часа через 2, часов через 6 начал задаваться вопросом, когда же это кончится. Оказалось что еще 2 часа бегать по однотипным залам и выполнять одни и те же действия.
Расписывать подробно не хочу, почитайте другие отрицательные отзывы, там всё замечательно разжевано.
Моя оценка - 2/10. Было бы 1, вообще доигрывать бы не стал, а так была интересна концовка. Она к слову так же разочаровала.

It's an interesting game. I wouldn't necessarily call it a horror game or a scary game, but it does has a few small-inimini 'jupscares' and the game has some sort of an eery feel to it. - I would say it's more of a puzzle/platformer-kind of game.

Story-wise it's there, it's well written and you want to know more about what happend.
Though the ending was kind of a bummer and kind of out of the blue in my opinion.

If you want an actual horror/terror game I wouldn't reccomend this game. - Though if you like puzzle games with a little bit of an eery-ish vibe, I would reccomend it.

Смесью именно этих двух игр мне с первых же секунд казалась The Crow's Eye. Вот только вряд ли она придётся по вкусу их фанатам. Головоломки скучны и однообразны, а сюжет возможно и интересен, но после появления типичного безумного учёного с типичными безумными экспериментами вникать в него как-то пропадает желание.

Почему же обзор всё-таки положительный? Ну, я ведь её прошёл и примерно 2/3 игрового времени вроде как даже ничё так были. Значит не всё так плохо.

The Crow's Eye é um jogo de suspense/puzzles que começa muito bem, com uma pitada de Bioshock e uma história boa e envolvente.
Porém, com o passar da gameplay o game começa a se perder, com um exagero de puzzles, onde muitos começam a se repetir no meio do game, lembrando que todos são complicados e precisa-se de tempo e paciência para resolver-los.
Entretanto, no final do game começa a ficar bem mais interessante e surpreendente.

Terminei o game com mais ou menos 13 horas, mas muitos zeraram com 3 ou 4 horas de gameplay, pois tiveram mais facilidade com os puzzles ou já tinham terminado mais de uma vez.

For someone who rarely, if at all, plays horror games this one was frighteningly amazing! The dark ambiance of the graphics combined with the echoing sound effects really made for an immersive experience. The puzzles have a good mix of both platforming and problem solving.

This deeply intriguing narrative story will having you crawling through vents and tight spaces in order to finally solve the mysteries surrounding this abandoned medical facility and to figure out what connections, if any, you have with its dark secrets.

Господи, за что здесь хотят взять 250 рублей толком понять не могу. ПОлтора часа блуждал по заброшенным кабинетам и был всего один полускример с разбитой лампой. В стиме есть игры дешевле и лучше этой игры. Полтора часа ходишь и читаешь записки,и слушаешь записи. Это утомляет. Чуть ли не в каждой комнате записки и аудиофайлы. Больше сидишь и читаешь , чем играешь. БЛаго хоть багов нет.

Tough recommendation for atmospheric horror fans. The deeper you go, the harder it gets and the puzzles relentlessly keep coming.

What starts off as a subtly spooky investigation game, changes into portal by the end. You will be tested, and you're going to have to be in the mood for puzzles to get the most out of The Crow's Eye. I suggest giving it a shot for like an hour. Maybe, if you feel like it until you reach the exterior of the university.

Seeing it all through to the bitter end wasn't really worth it imho.

The Crow's Eye is an odd little game that seems to have found its way to a lot of horror fans through Youtubers and online publications alike but I really didn't find a single drop of fright in its lengthy playtime. While the setting (Crowswood Medical University) feels like Outlast, the game is a strange mash-up of Portal-esque FPS puzzle/platforming, walking sim note reading and exploration with a small touch of fetch questing n' crafting. It's a weird realm where fun meets frustration's middle finger in an adventure to discover what happened to the students and professors that vanished at the university many years earlier.

The full mixture of game styles and mechanics is like an unusual blend of the aforementioned Portal, The Initiate 2, original Half Life and Outlast. I should be honest right off the bat that I didn't like it as much as any of those games but there is a certain flavor of each inside this crackerjack box and enough quality in the design to make it fun on its own. Once your character has arrived and is trapped inside the vast complex, it's immediate that getting out of this madhouse isn't going to be an easy task. Crowswood is a decaying, dangerous place where a taunting voice lets you know your a** shouldn't be there. You can fall to your death, you can fail and you'll need to spend some serious time assessing certain situations.

Graphically, things look dingy and bone-bleached. Since there are many more locations in TCE than say the Initiate there's a lot more to see and do here in this game's dilapidated edifices but I'd say that things like the Initiate and recently Harthorn have very similar presentations when you're talking aesthetics. It's not an eye-melter, specs chomper by any means yet I wouldn't expect a long forgotten, obviously up to no good medical university to look gorgeous. The sound is similarly of adequate quality with some atmospheric hum n' drone music going and although I appreciate the effort that went into the story/voice-acting, the delivery is ludicrous at best. At its best I got some B-movie laughs, at its worst I wanted to take on the main villain in a brass-knuckle hurricane. Your eyes may or may not get tired of rolling. And there's more of it than you might expect. A bucketful of Orville Redenbacher is recommended for all of it. On a positive note, I do appreciate that the devs at least spent extensive time and effort on including a fairly expansive tale for such a low-budgeter.

Gameplay is much better and consistently the experience's major muscle. You can run, crouch, jump and you're going to need to do them 'em all and improve your agility through lots of physic's leaned puzzles...some of which require a decent amount of momentum from your keyboard/mouse meathooks. You'll be getting a gravity gun that you'll need to cross chasms with, ascend to high-up n' over the moon ledges, use it to blasts boxes and trigger switches to proceed and much, much, much more. It's inclusion lends TCE's its edge as well as conjuring my reasons for calling the game the VHS version of Half Life and Portal. I truly appreciated the variety of situations that you must successfully first-person Lolo your way out of. Sadly, the crafting interface is pretty rudimentary and felt like it could have been eliminated wholesale without affecting the game's overall quality. It's not a stinking garbage heap by any means, it's just so shallow and completely centered on very trivial collection/click a button dullness that it started to enter my head, "Why can't we just find the items we need instead through exploration?"

Strangely, the last line of my prior paragraph is a paradox when I consider my opinion of the game. While I certainly had a decent time making my way to the end and appreciated the amount of content, in-depth story beats, vast amount of puzzles (and their variety) and overall passion put into the game's making, etc. by the end of my 9 hour, no walkthrough finish, I felt that things were a bit too long winded. There was a redundancy to some of the later puzzles as the story went off the rails and the game kept piling on new sequences after its best ideas had long since come and gone. You might tell me to eat crow for that (that was lame and I don't apologize) but that's how I felt.

I'd give this one a very respectable 6.5 out of 10. I'll mention in closing that there is some jank to the game's most demanding mechanics when the controls are on the table although it wasn't anything I couldn't get comfortable enough with to stop me from beating the game. A solid effort for certain; personally I'd go for a sale yet there's enough to challenge you here that paying full-price isn't something you'll regret in the morning.

Protagonizamos una investigación detectivesca, en una Facultad de Medicina abandonada, donde ocurrieron extrañas desapariciones, documentadas en artículos, cartas y grabaciones de sonido que recogemos de grabadoras, con la voz de fondo, de un personaje que parece seguir nuestros pasos y nos anima por altavoz a resolver los puzles..
El desarrollo general es clásico: visitar todas las habitaciones disponibles, recoger utensilios y encontrar la forma de abrir las puertas bloqueadas (moviendo mobiliario pesado que las obstruye, u obteniendo una llave), o tomando una ruta secreta (como los conductos del aire), u obteniendo un objeto especial (como ponernos una máscara de gas que nos permita entrar en una sala tóxica)… Hay trampas y pequeños enemigos que nos pueden dañar, pero no mucho… Se utiliza el viejo truco de los sustos sorpresa, pero sin abusar. Durante gran parte de la exploración no hay música y los efectos de sonido son poco sugerentes y escasos. Como los escenarios suelen estar mal iluminados, disponemos de un encendedor que nunca se consume... Hay crafteo, donde podremos combinar algunos objetos para crear otros, entre ellos los vendajes, y mapas.
Lamentablemente no puedo recomendar esta historia porque a poco de comenzar hay un puzzle con una ganzua, de una resolución complicada que no pude pasar.

If Bioshock and Portal had a bastard mongoloid child.

It's easy to get invested at the beginning until later when the penny drops. The horror theme completely loses its impact around the 1 hour mark, the puzzles are uninspired (Some just requiring to find triggers and switches), the platforming can be irritating, the onslaught of audio logs and written notes become tedious as well as boring and the antagonist's voice over will grate your nerves. An overly ambitious project which smashes together too many genres ultimately harming the end product.

I'm on the fence but I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone unless you are completely out of options for your horror themed gaming needs.

The Crow's Eyes, un juego creado por 6 personas, pero aunque tenga mérito el proyecto o la idea, la ejecucion e ideas son malas y tediosas.

LO BUENO:

- La historia, mientras exploras por las zonas, encuentras cartas y audios de los personajes, creando una historia de suspense que debo aplaudir... Aunque a mi opinion personal, el final lo destroza o es demasiado obvio sin giro argumental. Un final que no esta a la altura del guion.
Los personajes son memorables, sobre todo la gran voz de Holtwick.

- El mapeado esta tan bien desarrollado y objetos del entorno que parece real la propia universidad, cobrando vida.

Y ya esta, es lo poco bueno que destaco. Ahora mis razones por las que es un juego mediocre.

- Rompecabezas: Sin contar una biblia, los rompecabezas son apostamente alarga-tiempos, malos y faciles. Es un juego que si no hubiese puzzles y fuese mas de escapar un monstruo de vez en cuando o un walking simulator, sin duda... Seria muuuucho mejor el juego, con diferencia.

- Fabricacion: En este juego fabricamos ciertas cosas con objetos que encontremos... ¿Porque esta mal? Porque sobra. Un juego que sea necesario la mecanica de "FABRICACION" debe entender que haya muchos objetos a coger y que el jugador deba decidir con los componentes reunidos si debe hacer X o Y objeto para progresar (ESA ES LA GRACIA), ya que si siempre vas ha tener todos los componenetes para hacer solo 3 objetos diferentes en todo el juego... ¿PARA QUE LA FABRICACION?

- HUD del Mapa: Si... hay un hud que muestra mapa. Pregunta del millon... ¿Es necesario? NO, el hud del mapa aunque sea un detalle tonto, quita totalmente la inmersión del juego, sobre todo, en un juego de suspense que incita al que el jugador recopile la historia. Sin duda alguna, no necesitas mapa, es un juego que aprendes rapidamente las habitaciones y puertas bloqueadas. RESUMEN: Es un juego cual su transfondo lo salva. Ya que los rompecabezas son simplemente relleno puro y fuera del contexto del juego. Y la mecanica de la fabricacion y el hud del mapa es totalmente innecesario. Es decir... Tener muchas ideas "molonas y variadas" en un juego, no significa que vaya a funcionar todas ellas juntas.

Como nota, un 6 (Mediocre, y eso que pongo mejor nota a los juegos Indie). NO LO RECOMIENDO a menos que esteis muy interesado en historias de suspense o de novela negra.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this game. I'm a very wimpy gamer, and tend to get scared easily in horror games, and this goes for The Crow's Eye as well. The atmosphere was creepy, I think what music and sound effects there were fit well, the puzzles didn't hold your hand but were easy enough to solve by looking around and thinking about it, and with every turn I thought there was bound to some jump scare so much I started to scare myself (I played right into that psychological horror element)
You get to know more about the history and what might be going on in the university through audio logs and letters found throughout from various characters, and to be honest, a story is what can hook me to a game, and I found myself wanting to know more, so pressed on. I'd say if playing through for the first time, don't skip these items since it'll give the game a lot more depth than if you just run your way through.

Pros:
-Great and creepy atmosphere
-Love the story and characters that are told through the recordings and documents
-The puzzles are intuitive and relatively easy to solve if you just think and explore

Cons:
-Jumping can be a little wonky and short.
-I don't know if it's just me that had issues with it, but repelling yourself upwards in areas seemed to hover me into a pit rather than the platform above.

Overall, I'd recommend to anyone that likes these psychological horror games. I got it while on sale, and having played it, I do not regret getting it.

Longer than I expected, which is a good thing in this case. Fair amount of puzzles and the developers made the solutions intuitive rather than holding your hand (or worse, making the solutions completely esoteric). I will admit I found there were slightly too many platforming sections, although the mechanic they introduce to help with jumping helped to prevent some of my usual platforming frustration. The end was a little disappointing, but overall it was a fun puzzle game and a great showing from an indie developer.

Recommander, ne pas recommander... il m'a été difficile de trancher. Le fait est que je ne partais pas avec un avis extraordinaire pendant la première moitié du jeu. J'ai trouvé en effet que pendant un bon moment ce titre avait du mal à s'affirmer dans un style spécifique... un peu de walking simulator par-ci, de puzzle game par-là, une association somme toute sympathique en soi mais qui m'a donné l'impression que le jeu se cherchait. Puis en progressant on pourra y voir qu'il tient en effet en grande partie du puzzle game.
Les énigmes ne sont pas inintéressantes, mais elles se répètent assez, c'est un peu dommage. La difficulté par ailleurs n'est pas vraiment au rendez-vous, mis à part pour une énigme qui requiert bien plus de réflexion.
Graphiquement, on est quand même bien en deçà de ce qu'on peut trouver sur beaucoup de jeux indépendants à ambiance plus ou moins horrifique ; on retrouve les mêmes objets de partout, les décors ne varient guère beaucoup, et la modélisation est assez succinte. Cependant, chose que j'ai remarquée seulement par la suite, mais en y voyant bien on peut constater une sorte de cell shading "adaptatif", ce qui permet de bien détacher les objets de l'environnement, sans que cela ne soit trop marqué pour autant. Une idée plutôt bonne et au résultat correct.
Mais ce que je reprocherai par-dessus tout, c'est bel et bien la traduction honteuse qui a été faite en français. Alors certes, on peut reconnaître le geste pour l'avoir traduit en français, ce qui n'est souvent pas le cas dans les jeux indépendants, mais y apporter un peu plus de soin aurait été pas mal aussi ; en gros, c'est bourré de fautes d'orthographe, de lettres oubliées, de mots remplacés par d'autres rendant certaines phrases au sens très ambigu au point où j'ai été obligé de mettre des documents en anglais pour avoir une meilleure compréhension sur certaines phrases. Et par ailleurs, la qualité de la traduction en elle-même n'est vraiment pas fameuse, et chose assez loufoque, on retrouve souvent au sein d'un même texte et envers une même personne une difficulté pour se décider entre le tutoiement et le vouvoiement qui s'alterne aléatoirement... c'est peut-être là un humour volontaire que je n'ai pas compris... Bref, certains n'y verront qu'un simple détail, mais moi ça m'a fait saigner des yeux.
Quant à l'intrigue, hmm... je n'ai vraiment pas du tout été convaincu. Un manque terrible d'originalité scénaristique, et les différents enregistrements et documents que l'on trouve semblent plus tourner en rond qu'autre chose, sans réelle surprise. Par ailleurs, l'hystérie du docteur va bien un moment, mais l'entendre dans le casque peut devenir insupportable à terme...

Bon, j'ai l'impression d'être un peu dur avec tout ça, car malgré tous ces défauts que je lui ai retenus, The Crow's Eye n'est quand même pas un mauvais jeu, et ça m'a plu de le parcourir. C'est juste qu'ayant fait déjà pas mal de jeux dans le style, je deviens un peu plus critique. Cependant, on y trouve un intérêt sympathique dans les énigmes et dans l'avancée assez fluide du jeu. La durée de vie a été une belle surprise puisque bien plus longue qu'on ne pourrait penser. Et on a même droit à une option consistant à faire des petits défis assez sympathiques à refaire en speedrun.
Donc voilà, je pense qu'il ne faut pas avoir une exigence trop poussée pour bien apprécier ce titre, mais je trouve qu'il mérite le détour pour un faible prix.

The Crow's Eye is a fictional story based around the Philadelphia Experiment. It's a first person puzzle platformer. You find recordings and documents throughout the game that expands and tells the story of what is going on. A mad doctor has been doing illegal experiments on people and you are there to find someone. The story was interesting and has a cool plot twist near the end.

The game has decent puzzles that weren't to challenging. There was also a spooky atmosphere to everything. Gives it a slight horror/suspense feel. It took me about five hours to beat. The rest of my gametime was from farming cards. I got this game a while back and kind of forgot about it so when I played it I wasn't sure what it was about. It really impressed me and it's a thumbs up for me and I recommend checking it out.

It's an interesting game at first, it has good atmosphere and good voice acting. The story has potential in the first hour or two but then it goes completely downhill and by the end I couldn't even care anymore. Some puzzles are annoying as hell, graphics are serviceable at best and ugly at times. I wanted to like it but it's not as smart of an experience as I thought it would be, it's not smart at all actually. It's too long for its own good and you won't remember it shortly after you finish it. To be fair I bought it for under 1 euro and for that price it delivered enough content but I can't recommend it for anything higher. I will change it into a mixed review if that option ever becomes available but until then I'll have to give it a negative.

Купил на распродаже за 18 рубасов, повёлся на положительные отзывы, но игра оказалась не так хороша и вот почему.
Плюсы:
Из плюсов могу отметить только хорошую музыку. Присутствует множество разнообразных композиций, которые ласкают слух. На этом к сожалению всё, а теперь к минусам,
Минусы:
Первый и главный минус - это продолжительность игры. Игра фёрстранится часов за 10, что очень много для инди хоррора, пускай и пазла. За 16,6 часов сумел пройти игру дважды.
Плохая оптимизация. ФПС падает до 25ти на компе, который с лёгкостью тянет последний батлфилд и дустан.
Малое количество скримеров. Игра позиционирует себя как хоррор, но пугает крайне редко.
Пазлы. Лично я их не люблю. Присутствуют как прыжковые упражнения с замедлением времени (с проседающим фпс) так и катание кубов. Больше напоминает технодемо к которому запилили сюжет.
Сюжет. Подаётся в игре через множественные аудиологи и записки, из которых мало что понятно. Раздражающий голос главного протагониста. Хреновая концовка и игры разума.
Сломанные ачивки. Ачивка на 100% документов упала раньше, чем ачивка с документами отдельного персонажа, которая вообще не выпала. Ачивка на пианино, что с ней делать вообще непонятно. То ли сыграть на каждом, то ли сыграть что-то конкретное (каждая клавиша имеет свой звук). Ачивка по убийству тараканов. Попадаются только на первых двух уровнях и то не хватает.
Реиграбельность. Пришлось пройти игру 2 раза, дабы добить ачивки, в результате то ли сломаны, то ли хрен ли знает что делать. Результат - потеря времени.
Вывод: 18 рублей, 18тью рублями, но время дороже.

От слова «хоррор» в The Crow's Eye есть только «O» и «R», больше ничего. Даже не думайте, что кто-то всерьез будет вас пугать. Нет и тягучего чувства тревогии напряжения . Вместо этого игра стимулирует ваше любопытство новыми деталями истории... и все равно заставляет собирать вещи из мусора, использовать аптечки и все, что плохо лежит. Почти ничего из этого не нужно, вся система крафтинга кажется пришитой белыми нитками, как и мини-игра на взлом.

В центре сюжета игры The Crow’s Eye обзор которой вы сейчас читаете, находится медицинский институт Crowswood, где, как мы выясняем буквально с первых минут игры, проходят странные эксперименты и, к тому же, пропало сразу 4 ученика – без следа. Но на это странности не заканчиваются, а только начинаются. Помимо полицейских, которые, само собой, уже во всю ведут поиски пропавших студентов, директор института решает подключить к расследованию частного детектива, обозначив при этом жесткие сроки – 7 дней. Если по истечению этого срока частный детектив, за которого нам и предстоит играть, не раскроет дело, то он будет вынужден покинуть институт. Сюжет первое время кажется немного скомканным и притянутым за уши, однако, чем дальше по хронометражу The Crow’s Eye я продвигался, тем больше мне становилось понятно. Сюжет – это, пожалуй, одна из сильнейших сторон игры, что, в общем-то, хорошо и правильно, ведь перед нами квест, а что такое квест без хорошего сюжета?

Thank you to the developer 3D2 Entertainment and publisher Nkidu games inc. for creating a good atmospheric, puzzle platformer for me to escape, explore and enjoy.

After decades of gaming i think my favorite genre is story driven/ puzzle adventure games. Games like the Talos Principle, Hob, Q.U.B.E. to name just a few of the dozens I have completed and The Crows Eye fits perfectly into that library. I would argue it's more of a platformer than puzzle game but it’s strong atmosphere, AAA voice acting and decent story made it a trip worth taking.

The Crow's Eye tells a story that takes place in the 1940s(but covers decades) where a detective has vanished while investigating missing students at a university and a student? who awakens in that university trying to escape a mad scientist. The stories of course intertwine and somewhat predictable but overall it’s not too bad. The story is told through papers littered throughout the game along with audio recordings which I would grade as AAA quality and makes the game even more enjoyable. It will be obvious from the start once you are introduced to the mad scientist he sounds, and is written, exactly, and I mean exactly, like the Joker from the recent Batman games. There are occasions I could swear he wanted to call me Bats, but luckily doesn't go that far. If you want to pretend you are Batman(you will be crawling through air ducts), it’s not really difficult to imagine, you will just be without all those “wonderful toys”.

The setting for The Crow’s Eye is exclusively at Crowswood college so if exploring essentially a college is not your thing, avoid this like the plague. A cafeteria, lounge, bathrooms, theatre, dorm rooms, courtyard, offices, it's all here. On occasion you will be warped to a puzzle room or enter rooms that are essentially there to solve a puzzle but most of your time will be exploring the dark dimly lit hallways and rooms looking for crafting items, puzzle clues, keys, story paper and audio cassettes. It’s not a graphics looker by any means with a very dark and brown palette but it makes up for it with mood, atmosphere and original soundtrack. Surprisingly it has a good choice of graphic options and it will be welcome as this game for some reason is a hog. I was playing at max settings and was maintaining only 70 FPS, which is very acceptable, but surprising for the limited graphic detail in the game.

The game is is one of those that are easy to pick up, play and complete. Essentially you will enter an area of the college and given a small task from the mad scientist to complete. There is no real quests other than solve this puzzle, find a key, pick a lock, flip a switch and move on. The puzzles are pretty basic in nature. One puzzle will have you moving color coded boxes around an area to place in a hole with the same color. Another puzzle will be to flip a box with a scene onto the floor space with the same scene. Most puzzles will simply be platform in nature where you climb to a certain spot to flip a switch or collect an item. An early mission will have you build an electromagnetic gun which can be used to pick up certain boxes but will also be vital during platforming sections. The electromagnetic gun works flawless, it's only downside is it’s missing needed sound and really one of the few gripes I have with the game. The controls for both platforming and the physics based puzzles should be commended as they worked as expected with no issues.

As you explore the college you will also collect items to craft bandages and a few one use items. There is no danger in the game as there are no enemies and the only damage you will receive is if you die(during platforming sections). If you happen to die you will respawn immediately at the point of death, no harm no foul. This creates a lack of tension especially after you progress through the first few chapters. The game should have been cut by a chapter or maybe 2 as i was just kind of going through all the motions near the end.

I enjoyed my time with The Crow’s eye. As I said at the start, this is my type of game. It is familiar in a lot of ways but for an indie game with the AAA quality voice work and a decent story made the journey through Crowswood College fun. It could use a little color and editing, but fans of the genre should give it a chance.

I was under the impression that this was supposed to be a horror game. Of course, I bought this awhile back and I see on the store page that it is no longer labeled a horror game, which is great since it is anything but. I am not a huge platform gamer, so this game was definitely not for me. HOWEVER, if platform puzzlers are your thing, this game is not half bad.

My one major gripe with it was the clunky jump. Your character has one pitiful jump, and even though you have a shot you can administer to slow time down so you can jump further, even that got annoying when you overshot your target and had to slowly fall to your death. The story was not half bad as long as you went around and actually attempted to collect documents and recordings. Otherwise, you would get hardly any story at all except for the nutty scientist's dialogue and even then that does not paint a detailed story. In your search to find your father, you really don't get much on that until the end, when you get a super boring speech from the nutty scientist that fills in that gap AT THE VERY FLIPPIN' END.

If you like platform puzzles, go for it (that is the only reason I am recommending this one). Otherwise, do not bother.

Ce jeu est assez spécial, notamment au niveau de son scénario. Mais les énigmes sont divertissantes et le doublage inspiré, même si, à mon goûts, les phases de plateforme étaient trop nombreuses.

While the mad doctor sounds a lot like The Joker, going by the trailer, the character fails to make use of it. Bit of a disappointment there.

Although the trailers suggest a 1st Person Horror or Thriller Adventure game, it's actually just a a mix between physics-based JumpnRun puzzler a la Portal where you can jinx a solution "somehow" and Zelda puzzles. Story is... all over the place and failed to actually capture me. Most of the time Player-NSC interaction is limited to "oh, another audio tape to listen to" while you meander around the halls and tunnels of whatever this strange fever dream of architecture is you entered.

There is no response or character development on player side (mute like Link or as you could also call it: Dead Fish Syndrom), which makes all the twists and plot reveals you are facing a bit ridicilous. To be fair, the game makes fun of this by itself after a while, having some characters mention that the protagonist never responds in any way. Still a sore point if you are aiming to have a suspensful horror-themed game here :P

Graphics are level "eh, it works, so good enough". Since I fail to remember anything noteworthy sound- or music wise beyond the voice acting, you should not expect much immersion there... Voice acting is solid though, as you maybe have heard from the trailer videos. So kudos to whoever did that.

Overall I am not recommending this game. There are better first person horror-themed games on Steam and the usual "grab it, if on sale" should not lead to a recommendation.

Gfx, sound and story is all decent. But what could have been a great game is completely ruined by annoying platform sections. Without them, it would have been a big thumbs up.

There are also minor issues. Useless achievements like breaking X number of objects which does absolutely nothing. There's no mosters to lure, no need to throw these items. Yet, they are there including these achievements up to breaking 50 of them. Why?

Same for crafting. It's there but could as well has been left out completely. It doesn't add anything. You find paper and inkt to make a map. They're always provided close together and they will always be used to make that map and nothing else. Same for lockpicks, bandages and alike.. it's always a+b=c and x+y=z and doesn't get any more complicated.

It's a shame really, because there is quite some effort put into making this. There's plenty of maps/levels to visit. The amount of notes and voice recorders show they put some decent thoughts into the story. And the few non-platforming puzzles are also entertaining.

That said, I still want to reach the end. Mainly because I've invested the time and I'm still somewhat curious how the story ends. But I can't recommend buying it UNLESS you are a fan of 1st person 3d platforming.

The Crow's Eye had me hooked from the beginning.
The story is told mainly through the ramblings of William Holtwick, mad scientist, as well as audio logs and letters found throughout the levels.

Despite being marketed as a psychological horror, there is little to none in the game itself. The atmosphere is ominous, there is sometimes tension created through unexplained events, such as a door opening itself or a section collapsing.
It would not be true to say that there isn't a scary atmosphere to the game, given the worldbuilding, backstory and atmospheric devices used.

I found the backstory gripping, as new details were revealed. I looked forward to each new letter or audio recording I found. Some of which were deeply chilling and sinister.

Gameplay was like a cross between Amnesia, Bioshock and Portal, and overall felt very smooth. The puzzles were well done, spaced out and never too easy or too difficult.

The highlights of this game would be the atmosphere, visuals and especially the soundtrack.
An excellent score of 33 tracks, which are excellently used to portray appropriate moods at different parts of the story. THe music really contributed a lot towards the immersion in this game, which was already great.
Voice acting was also good, but over the top with some characters.

Overall, definitely give this game a go. It's not too long, and it's quite gripping.

this game was a lot of fun.
the puzzles and platforming worked well and never felt tedious. puzzles were of a good difficulty too and were alot of fun to work through
0 bugs encountered on my play through.
buttery smooth 100+fps for the entire play through.
graphics were decent for an indie title. voice acting was great and i enjoyed the story too.
i bought this game for $7.50 but would have gladly paid more.
people looking into this should also note that there are no enemies in this game, it is all either exploration, puzzles or platforming.

Overall I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre and am looking forward to seeing what this developer has to offer in the future.

Отвратительная игра. Оптимизация худшая из худших. Тормозит ужасно. Управление неудобное. Сюжет скучный. Локации однообразные. Графика унылая. Хоррор? За всю игру 2 непонятных существа, которых страшными назвать никак нельзя (это черви, они должны по замыслу авторов пугать нас своим неожиданным появлением). Головоломкой сей "шедевр" тоже язык не поворачивается назвать, скорее поиск предметов. Единственное, что хоть как-то интригует: это нахождение записей, которые как-то проясняют сюжетную линию. Правильное название стиля игры в таком случае - симулятор ходьбы с элементами платформера и поиском предметов. Хотелось пройти до конца, но жаль нервов - прыжки по платформам: ад кромешный. Такое впечатление, что управляешь пьяницей в стадии глубокого алкогольного опьянения с тяжелым нарушением координации движений, который только с 5-6-й попытки может прицелится своим магнитом или прыгнуть на платформу, так как мышь ходуном ходит. Такое ощущение, что игру не доделали, и решили выпустить: авось и так сойдет. Так не пойдет, уважаемые разработчики. Имейте совесть довести свою игру до ума. Окончательный вердикт: не рекомендую я это убожество!

Great Game
Ich dachte nur wieder ein neues Unity Game, aber es kam anders als man denkt.
Hatte mit einer Spieldauer von 2 Stunden gerechnet, aber noe.
Da steckt soviel drin, naja außer Gegner ;)
Puzzles, Sprungeinlagen, Kisten verschieben, ne art Porten, und vorallem eine Story die durch
Audio Tapes und Schriftstücke vorangetrieben wird, nur noch getoppt durch den wahnsinnigen
Sprecher des Doktors. Auch wenn in Englisch, aber der treibt einen an :)
Speicherpunkte sind fair gesetzt, okay selten springt man mal in einen Deadspot,
oder hatte auch mal das Problem das ich ins Nirvana gestürzt bin, aber das ist
jammern auf hohem Niveau.
Bin begeistert, auch das Ambiente, besonders Soundtrack sind Klasse.
Keine großartigen Jumpscares, aber definitiv hat es der Schöpfer geschafft einen
unterschwelligen Horror zu vermitteln.
Von mir klare Empfehlung.

[i]The Crow's Eye[/i] is a rather ambitious little game from an independent Spanish developer. It tries to be much more than it actually is and combines way too many genres and components instead of focusing on a few instead. At first it seems like a psychological horror (in some way it is), but without the presence of any monsters (except for some large parasitic worms which do minimal damage before we shake them off), it could hardly be called one. For an adventure there are far too few items to use (we collect ingredients for the most part and craft mainly unimportant items from those). As strange as it may sound and totally not what one would expect from watching the trailer and the screenshots, the puzzle-platformer tag is the one that fits the game best: from time to time we have to solve various puzzles involving 3D platforming sections where we can actually 'die' (because we almost immediately respawn nearby - fortunately the game gives us an explanation for that at the end).

The game uses the usual formula: we wake up amnesic in an abandoned university and soon start receiving instructions from a madman, who's seemingly greatly enjoying the fact that he can order us around. Sometimes he threatens us and puts our life in danger, usually by forcing us to participate in an experiment including devices he invented and some 3D platforming.
It's hard to write about the story without giving much of it away. Suffice to say it offers more in the beginning there is a 2nd branch of the story [spoiler]involving human experiments[/spoiler], but we fail to get a proper explanation for that, since the game focuses on the less interesting path, which after a rather surreal endgame is clarified in a rather long monologue.
Anyway we are going to learn who we are at around midgame and the story elements come to us in the form of letters and magnetophon recordings from many different characters, just like in [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/57300/Amnesia_The_Dark_Descent/]Amnesia: The Dark Descent[/url].
It also bears some similarities with [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/7670/BioShock/]Bioshock[/url], the time it takes place in (1960s), the look of our health bar (a syringe) and the weird (music) machines we can save our game at (+ the found voice recordings).

We spend most of our time trying to piece the story together, about ourselves and of the many characters we never meet but whom we read and hear about frequently. Our investigation besides the usual item/code using, lever-pulling, cube rotating puzzle mechanics is sometimes interrupted by said puzzle-platforming elements, which feels strange, somehow unfitting to the general dark and horror(ish) atmosphere of the game: the jumping from platform to platform seems as if we were playing a minigame, completely prescinding from the base concept of the game. During these platforming parts it is necessary to use the green syringe (which we acquire later on), in order to slow down time plus increase the distance of our jumps and get past fast moving objects. At some point we'll also be awarded with an electromagnetic device (also a torch so it replaces our lighter as a light source) with which we can pull ourselves to marked metal poles during these platforming segments. If we miss a jump and fall into the abyss (or deep water), we usually lose health, which we can replenish by using bandages (although it gets refilled at the beginning of each level). The execution of the platfroming would be OK were it not for the unity engine the game uses, which makes these sections feel a bit clumsy.
The other puzzles mostly require the use of moveable glowing metallic cubes, which we can rotate and manipulate: sometimes we have to place them in into pressure pads, sometimes put them on top of each other to reach seemingly unreachable locations. Whenever we solve a puzzle, a a cutscene will usually show us the way where to proceed.

The graphics seem nice, atmospheric even but as soon as we take a detailed look upon things we realize how simple it all looks. Still it does a fairly good job, especially regarding the outer environment. The run-down abandoned university is creepy and would provide a perfect place for a horror game, I mean if it really was one.
What I really liked was the music which is always fitting to the current situtation: suspenseful on occasion and cheerful at times. The sound effects are OK, but the voiceovers are overplayed.
(Oh and whenever we get an achievement, it makes a sound - I thought that was neat :))

[i]The Crow's Eye[/i] is a mediocre game that could have been good if it concentrated on the horror aspect (with stealth mechanics and monsters) instead of trying to blend in as much useless content as possible (there are also additional challenge levels for 3D platforming lovers). So unfortunately the suspense is greater throughout the journey as we play the game through, than the catharsis itself at the end. It's a shame since nothing is particularly wrong with the game (I wish there were no worse indie horrors than this one), it just can't live up to the expectations it raised.
