I was shocked when I found out it's really good. For just one buck, I expected something very low quality and memey. Tcheco may be a bit of the latter, but it's very high quality. The difficulty reminds me of old NES games, especially since there's no saving. There is a code to get extra lives (which again reminds me of those old NES games, like the Contra code), but even with it I still haven't beat this game. After a lot of tries, you can reliably get past the first stages without taking any damage, but the later stages are still very challenging, like the floating baby ???? thing. Still take at least 5 hits there. Another positive factor is the simplicity. Three buttons only. No weird mechanics (an argument could be made for the skateboard, but it gives you time to adapt). All of these things shape Tcheco into a perfect game in my opinion.

A simple and quick platformer that is delightfully fun, incredibly satisfying, filled with eventful action, and packed with personality.
Positive:
- The 8-bit approach to the design and to the creative aesthetics is adeptly authentic, making use of retro sprites and sounds expertly. Even the implementation of digitized voices is artfully produced, adding a nice touch to the accompanying chiptune melodies.
- Each screen is its own independent level, having its own unique objectives, maintaining the platforming mechanics as one progresses, while also introducing new ways to interact with obstacles and hazards. This unconventional level layout is refreshing and provides the player with gratifying bite-sized stages that are amusing, brief, and promptly progressive.
- References to Brazilian popular culture are spread through several screens around the game, with acknowledgments of entertainers, famous video games, and allusions to the country's political past. These implicit connections come in visual and in aural forms, adding an exceedingly charming layer to the already charismatic original characters and cleverly imaginative world.
Neutral:

- Some screens require precision platforming in order to advance, yet the engine that the game was developed under does not provide the necessary accuracy of controls for clean movement and jumping. This problem makes some screens clumsy and awkward.

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio (ou Tcheco no Castelo do Sarney para os BRs) é um jogo brasileiro muito carismático de plataforma inspirado em jogos retrôs do NES. Sua jogabilidade é bem simples, com o jogador passando de diversas telas para jogar no final, mas onde o jogo brilha é em sua criatividade: cada tela é bem única, com elementos diversos e inesperados. Os gráficos pixelados do jogo também são muito lindos, bem melhores do que eu esperava. Esse jogo pode ser bem difícil, tanto que antes do update de 2020 que deu uma facilitada nele eu admitidamente não conseguia chegar no final: assim como os jogos antigos de NES, quando você toma um Game Over, o jogo te leva de volta para a primeira tela. Mas tentando várias vezes, você aos poucos consegue morrer cada vez menos e finalmente vencer.
Eu recomendo bastante Tcheco no Castelo do Sarney para quem quer um joguinho retrô e difícil, ou quem ficou minimamente interessado - por menos de 4 reais (ou até mesmo menos de 2 na promoção), eu não vejo por quê não dar uma chance.

I really want to like this game, but it doesn't launch on Steam Deck and it doesn't display properly (all stretched out) on my monitors - with no settings anywhere to even pop into a properly-sized windowed mode. I'm outta luck, but you may fare better.
The game itself seems fun. The music's great! Love the pixel art. It feels like a fun zany NES title.

Бескомпромиссный платформер в ретро-стиле. И это касается не только визуала и звука, но и самого геймплея, который заставит заностальгировать даже самого бессердечного ретрофоба. Игра отлично передаёт атмосферу игр 80-х, как хороших, так и плохих. Сложная, необычная, разнообразная, эта игра стоит каждой копейки из тех нескольких, за которые её продают.
Typiquement le genre de jeu de plateforme sorti tout droit de l'ère 8 Bit qui procure une sensation de nostalgie... ou de traumatismes passés tant ce jeu est à la fois beau et propre, mais également tellement dur que j'ai frôlé l'AVC à cause des 8 misérables vies qu'on nous propose de base.
Sauf qu'heureusement on peut finir ce maudit jeu ! Oui ! Et ce, à l'ancienne par le biais d'un code de triche à faire rapidement au début du jeu avant de tomber au sol "B, A, B, A, B, A, B, Y" (Via une manette, Xbox de préférence).
Résultat : vous aurez 30 vies... sauf que même avec ça j'ai réussi à perdre deux fois. Oui, mon skill est tellement spécifique que je frôle le record du meilleur joueur... de l'inverse... :(
Malgré la rage que celui-ci m'a procurée, il me rappelle mes premières années de gamer où je jouais à la NES et la SNES... une nostalgie douloureusement savoureuse !

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is a single dev (aside from music) game, which shows the passion of the creator. It is a room-by-room 2d platformer.
Graphics: Simple and elegant 8bit graphics. Going for a more authentic approach, it tries to limit the pallet per room making good use of gradients. I don’t really know if the game could fit in a 8bit console, be it color or content wise, but it tries to emulate the experience, sans the graphical glitches of the time. It has some beautiful backgrounds, and usually, if you think you can interact with the environment, you can. The game has what some could see as a problem, the flashes. Some actions make the entire screen turn white for a frame, and I found it sometimes annoying when it occurred in a short span of time.
Music and sounds: The music was composed by Ozzed, the only other person to work on this game. It fits perfectly in any NES game, it’s high energy and highly repeatable. If you like chiptune music, put this one in your playlist.
Now, the sounds are hit and miss for me. Most of them are fine, but the ones when you take damage and fall into a hole are really aggravating. And believe me, you’ll hear them a lot. They are also a bit too loud. That shouldn’t be a problem, but…
Options: There are no options. None. Can’t change the volume of the music and sound individually both being very loud, but sound especially, can’t change the language from inside the game, gotta do it from the steam menu by right clicking on the game and going on the manage tab. There are buttons right on the controller for circling thru full screen and windowed, but that’s it. At least the pause menu gives an option to exit the game. I’d also talk about rebinding controls, but…
Controls: You go left and right. And jump. That’s it. On a controller all 4 face buttons jump. Select kills you. One of the shoulder buttons change windowed-full screen. The other exit the game.
The jump is fast, and gravity pulls very hard, you fall almost instantly, with barely an arc, you really gotta tab the dpad while jumping for precision jumping. But when you get the hang of it, you can control Tcheco very well.
Story and atmosphere: It’s a faithful 8bit game, so, no need for a story. It is also, surprisingly, a licensed game. The dev is also the creator of the character Tcheco, which has a cartoon that run from 1999 onwards, it’s on youtube right now if you fell in absolute love with that hunk of a main character. Being a licensed 8bit game, it does not need to make any sense. You go thru the game facing animals, skulls, and weird bosses in colorful environments. The atmosphere, however, is fantastic. You are in a castle, but there are lots of different possible environments complementing each other.
Like the animated series it comes from, it has a humor overlay with funny, but sparce, dialogs.
Gameplay: Very simple and straightforward. You go from room to room, collecting a key to open a door to the next room. After a certain point, you need 2 keys, then 3. There are also 2 mid bosses and the final boss.
You basically have to get the key and figure out where the exit is, usually a door, or a hole on the wall, celling or floor. You don’t have any method of attack yourself, except for one room near the end, and the bosses.
For a couple of rooms, you have a skateboard, and it functions like any respectable 8bit game would handle it. You auto move slowly, but can accelerate by holding the direction, and can jump further. Very fun rooms. It seems like the dev agree, since he made the sequel a whole game where you ride the skateboard (I’ll probably play it next or very soon, I loved the section).
There is a good variety of challenges within the 65 rooms the game has to offer. It is very difficult, as expected, and you will die a lot. You have 7 hit points, but you can bump them to 64 by performing a secret code (while Tcheco is falling at the start of the game, press B, A, B, A, B, A, B, Y before he lands. You’ll hear a sound if you did it, but there’s no visual indication of the extra hit points, sadly). Get hit till 0, game over. No continues. Go do it again, and again, each time inching closer to the last boss. Just like the old games. Good, simple fun.
Now, for the bosses, you have 2 buttons on each side of the arena, you need to press them interchangeably to launch a rocket on the boss, who goes from left to right, faster after each hit. Simple, but tricky to get the pattern sometimes.
Completion time and Achievements: After getting accustomed to the game, you can finish everything in 10-20 minutes, but as stated, getting there is the challenge. There are, sadly, no achievements.
Conclusion: Great game, also very cheap. Just get it and play.
Unless you really have old style games. But if it was the case, you wouldn’t have read it all the way, right? Just play this gem of a game.

Se tu for um mimadim de merda ,nem joga, vai se estressar na primeira fase e quebrar o teclado que a mãe trabalhou o mês inteiro pra comprar, mas se tiver 30cm de pica e for respeitado por todas as facções do brasil, e estiver procurando um desafio, jogue! é difícil e estressante, mas é isso que da toda a alma do jogo. Reservei esse game local, de apresentação muitíssimo simpática, em minha wishlist há séculos (mais realistamente falando, há uns 3 anos, mais ou menos), mas só me ocorreu de desenterrar minha atual ID da Steam muito recentemente: É até engraçado que meu cérebro está muito mais acostumado com o feed dos @ de Twitter associados ao Tcheco do que o game Tcheco propriamente dito! Mas que irresponsabilidade crassa, a minha! Que baita descompromisso! Que cúmulo da procrastinação! Mas, olhe, que oportuna foi essa minha decisão de gastar meu suado dinheirinho nesse tal Castelo do Lúcio, um jogo quase que criminalmente acessível... aliás, coloque a tela inicial e o título desse jogo lado-a-lado àqueles de um certo jogo de Master System... aquele protagonizado por uma certa dentucinha invocada, dona de um coelho azulado... qualquer semelhança será mera coincidência! E será uma semelhança feliz, não me entenda mal, justamente pelo fato de a série Tcheco ser, da cabeça aos pés, uma celebração e evocação à nostalgia retrogamer (e da cultura pop em geral) que até a indústria publicitária de hoje em dia parece saber que é deliciosamente insubstituível e importante. Essa vibe de 8-bits a qual a própria autodescrição do jogo na Store parece ter orgulho de ressaltar é definitivamente remanescente de um tempo em que os game designers, de fato, consideravam que os consumidores tinham um CÉREBRO! No Castle do Lucio, você será um guri que deliberadamente entra em um castelo todo malvadão (sim, aquele de Lucio), com o único intuito de sair de lá vivo. OK, talvez haja a motivação em resgatar um velho amigo de quatro patas. Mas, em favor do benefício da dúvida, nosso Tcheco entra nesse castelo porque bem quis e, imediatamente, precisa ser castigado por sua curiosidade incontrolada, sendo obrigado a explorar 60 e tantas salas do castelo. A grande maioria delas é recheada de bichos humanoides surreais que lembram tudo e nada ao mesmo tempo. Tcheco é só um mortal, coitado.. nem rola de ele dar um pulinho em cima da cabeça dos seus inimigos para matá-los (a quem tem toda sua alfabetização de jogos de plataforma com o combo Sonic + Mario, isso será uma grande tortura psicológica...), então é basicamente uma questão de jogo de cintura do player para mantê-lo sempre distante do quadradinho de colisão da maravilhosa arte pixeladas dos monstros. São 60 e tantas salas a serem descobertas, como eu já disse (todas elas possuem extensão suficiente para serem exibidas na tela em sua totalidade, dispensando a necessidade de scrolling, aqui!) e, em cada uma delas, cabe a vc, jogador/Tcheco, pegar todas as chaves que abrirão uma fenda em algum canto da fase, revelando a entrada para a próxima sala. Sendo um joguinho baseado em pegação de chaves, não é nada a toa a existência de um cheat code inspirado numa música de uma tal de Kelly Key kkkkkk. Qualquer um que seja mais tiozão dos games vintage também perceberá, talvez, que as mecânicas e estética desse jogo assemelham-se descarada e lindamente ao game de ZX Spectrum chamado Manic Miner, do britânico Matthew Smith: As mecânicas de coleta de itens a fim de ter acesso à entrada do próximo estágio (se bem que, graças a meu bom Deus, o programador não desenvolveu os saltos do Tcheco para serem trancafiados num grid...) e uma maravilhosa falta de senso lógico entre uma sala e outra (numa fase, você estará num tanque profundo de água evitando contato físico com algumas mergulhadoras obesas, noutro você estará numa cozinha 8-bit com um porco sorridente cuspindo ervilhas gigantes na sua cara...), por isso convido que você amplie (e muito) tua definição de "castelo" para além dos tijolos dessaturados e candelabros causadores de dano, porque o que você vai experimentar aqui nesse game é um caos absurdista que faria Alice no País das Maravilhas parecer um relato de uma Quinta-feira qualquer, em algum lugar do mundo real. Pois bem, muito se fala sobre a dificuldade alta do jogo. Tudo o que eu digo é que isso trata-se basicamente da essência que compõe esses joguinhos que demandam uma memória muscular alta para ser bem dominado. Então, por favor, não se sinta um débil mental se acaso não zerar o jogo de primeira -- isso não passa de um convite subliminar para você saborear toda a maluquice sensorial e humor esculachado que esse gaminho acessível, simpático e sério tem para dar e distribuir, no seu próprio tempo & esforço. Então, quem sabe, você pode ser um desses malucos-beleza que podem, finalmente, ostentar um achievement no seu perfil, dizendo a todos os seus amiguinhos internacionais, nativos da geração TikTok de baixo esforço cognitivo, de necessidade de recompensas de gameplay imediatas, de tutoriais de mansplaining condescendentes, de DLC's criminosas, de storylines refletas de fillers, e de raio de atenção inferior ao de um peixinho dourado, que os cidadãos locais orgulhosamente esculpiram e ergueram uma gigantesca estátua deslumbrante de tuas propriedades mais nobres/íntimas, tudo por conta daquele teu grande feito inocente (porém digno de respeito) do passado presente, que foi. finalmente-de-uma-vez-por-todas, escapar do Castelo de Lucio!... seja ele quem for.

One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Esse jogo é muito zueiro. E difícil... mesmo com 65 vidas foi difícil zerá-lo mas pela minha teimosia Tcheconíana eu cheguei ao fim. Vale muito a pena, são vários mino games, fases curtas, puzzles, e muitos easter egss!

В данной игре Вам предстоит пройти ряд простых (на первый взгляд) испытаний, избегая встречи с существами, что находятся в данных комнатах. А также собирать ключи, для открытия следующей "головоломки".
Игра может похвастаться приятным юмором, что подается игрокам через призму действий самого Тэко; а также сложностью игрового действа, что кажется довольно простым. Так, игрокам предстоит самостоятельно определять на какие фоновые предметы может залазить персонаж, а какие могут нанести урон, который в свою очередь может привести к смерти персонажа и полному перезапуску Вашего забега, так как игра не имеет сохранений, или контрольных точек на которых может возродиться персонаж,
Игра отлично подойдет любителям ретро-игр, а также игрокам жаждущих бросить себе вызов.
O jogo mais doido, divertido e bem produzido que já vi. São fases curtas, mas bem pensadas, brincam com várias misturas de temas, temática cômica e bem difícil. Recomendo muito.

Logo que você abre o jogo é possível sentir oque realmente lhe aguarda em seguida, MUITAS SALAS. INCONTÁVEIS SALAS. Não me vejo zerando esse jogo um dia, nem sei sequer se ele tem um fim, mas sei que nunca chegarei nele. Esse jogo foi feito para sugar qualquer resquício da sua alma e fortalecer o maldito espírito de Lucio. Aos heróis que tentarão derrotar o Castelo do Luciano, BOA SORTE!

Довольно забавная игра, но увы - мало кому зайдёт. Большинство, конечно, сразу отпугнёт графика из 80-х годов, но таковые и обзор этот читать не будут. А те, кто как раз хочет чего-нибудь олдскульного, должны понимать - это конкретно сложная игра. Вот прямо очень сложная. Схватить все ключи и добраться до выхода на всех уровнях, не истратив при этом все оставшиеся жизни, получится у очень малого процента обладателей игрушки. Остальные, может, будут рады дешёвому значку, но и только. Впрочем, даже если не проходить до конца, можно получить удовольствие: Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio здорово играет на чувстве ностальгии по древним платформерам. И стоит недорого. Так что тем, кого не напугали скриншоты, я её рекомендую.
