I really love the visuals and the soundtrack, but I ultimately can't recommend it because the game is broken. So many bugs that I was able to play around, but literally couldn't finish the last, pre-boss level because of one. I've seen this bug reported years ago, so it's not that they don't know it exists, it's that they have chosen not to fix it.

Graphics is amazing and I really wanted to enjoy this game. And I did till the level 4... But after the game started to get harder and harder. Level 6 is simply unbeatable!

Maybe devs can consider few simplifications like:
1. Don't let any enemy kill from single attempt (like those blobs on level 6). It's just unfair, we have hearts, why would someone simply kill you straight away?
2. Add more checkpoints .
3. Maybe split the level 6 into sub-levels

Otherwise, we had a pretty frustrating experience starting the same part of the level over and over and over...

I'm really in love with Jesse Jacobs' artworks. So it's the main reason why I'm into this game. And the game itself is kinda simple and good. It's like SuperMeatBoy adventure in a mushroom world.
UPD. Nah. Graphics and music are good but the game is full of bugs. Levels 5.4 and 6.1 are terrible experience.

- many levels later have only 1 checkpoint

Hey I beat cuphead and its dlc .. played a ton of other games and i did hope it would kind of kinda be the same or similar .. I even got the Spinch T-Shirt because it looked to cool
I did wait for a hefty discount and man
at first its nice and fun then gets tough (thats OK / supposed to be like that) but then the fun does a big nosedive

judgeing from the achivements hardly anyone bothered to keep playing after world 3 .. the achivments i got have like 3.5% of people for all the babys in world 4 .. man

in some ways this game would deserve a mixed review but considdering the wasted potential I'll have to give a thumbs down..
check some fotage on YT i know its not a lot but go search it ..

29 Players max in the past 5 years .. currently today there where 2 me and some other guy..
so I guess go for it if you want a game all to yourself..

Fantastic art style, decent level design, horrible feel.

Spinch is insanely floaty and plays like Mario on ice, with Sonic's speed and Bubsy's controls.

At the half way point I was happy to tap out. I enjoyed my time with it well enough, but despite it's unique, colourful art, it's a complete skip for anyone looking for a decent platformer.

I'm disappointed I'm giving this a negative review. This game is ALMOST good.

The graphical design is interesting, colorful, and unique. The animations are also pretty good. The music fits the game vibe, although I don't want to listen to it outside the game.

But what is the problem? The game is very difficult, and sometimes even unfair.

You're a tiny sprite with a lot of speed, and you often need to jump through several tiny platforms with long gaps between them. Not ideal, and I can forgive having this challenge once or maybe twice.

We also have some bonus levels, where you have to catch very tiny falling "objects" (not really objects) before they fall to the ground. Remember, you're tiny, with a lot of speed, trying to catch something even tinier, that falls quite fast, on a wide-screen level. Since it's a bonus level, you cannot retry it after you fail.

Then there are several sections that require you to sprint from one checkpoint to another in a short time, otherwise you die and have to restart from the checkpoint. This short time is about 10 seconds, and it is not very lenient. You will have to develop your own speedrunning skills to complete such sections.

Even though your character is tiny, the enemies are often big. The bosses are huge, taking up a square about 1/6 of the whole level. This leaves a very small vertical gap to go over or under the boss. And the bosses keep moving around the screen, and they speed up and change the movement pattern as you hit them. Good luck beating them.

And there is something even larger than the bosses themselves: their hitboxes. I often get hit by the boss when clearly my character hasn't touched the boss.

I gave up trying to defeat a certain boss with such gigantic hitbox, while underwater (with underwater physics), with also an alternating electrified floor.

I'm sorry to give this a negative review. Clearly the developers were very inspired and made something impressive. Unfortunately, its downsides prevent me from experiencing the rest of the game, and in the end it becomes a chore instead of being fun.

I became completely immersed in the world of Spinch - the psychedelic visuals, the trippy and catchy music, and the adorable Spinch designs. The platforming feels responsive, and the variety of levels is fantastic, although I feel later levels ramp up difficulty way too much. Overall I enjoyed my time with Spinch, it was completely worth playing!

The world that Queen Bee created is beautiful and frightening. It feels fantastic to move around in the space as Spinch - the controls are tight, and most of the physics work how you'd expect, although I struggled with understanding the water levels at first. I really like the art in this game, the sound effects and music really sell the hyper psychedelic dreamscape setting they've got going. I think it's worth recommending on those grounds just because of how original it is. The platforming is really fun too, with a steady difficult curve that really captures that old-school platformer gameplay. I'm still working through this one, but I'd highly recommended. It's sad to see this game so unpopular, it's definitely weird but it's underrated in my opinion. Oh, also this runs great on the Steamdeck.

World 5 I find actually impossible with the upside down section being a jank mess. Jumping while upside down is slower and more prone to errors. The monster following behind you is too fast and speeds up when losing sight of you while you have to dodge the glowing hit boxes on the floor that are perfectly spaced for you to land on and take damage.

A lot of people have complained about refresh rate issues on high refresh monitors, but this is hardly the only game that suffers in that department. If you invest in that arena, like 4k, you should expect issues with many games and suck it up, so I'm willing to ignore such gripes and blame. The devs have said they'd like to fix it, but they can't because gamemaker won't fix it.

For me, with a normal, 1080p, decent graphics card, decent pc setup, the game still runs at an akward FPS that makes look choppy as it plays. I'm not normally a frame rate stickler, but because of all the visual noise, this game really suffers if the framerate is not smooth enough.

The short is that this game has many technical issues that make it unplayable for top end and at least some typical setups. The design of the game compounds those issues.

Can not recommend.

I don't know why this game doesn't get more love. I think the platforming is great. It has simple mechanics and each level presents unique challenges. Couple that with great trippy visuals and a banger soundtrack. Give it a shot, you will know within a few levels if it is your jam or not.

Maybe if it was free it would be more of a shout, but paying money for this game is just diabolical, down right horrendous. You could buy any other game... Literally most games would be more of a game / more enjoyable than this but it is just lowkey addictive for a 2d game.. but also infuriating (heartbreak emoji fr (for real)).
The bosses are ong (on god) horrendous, it's just practically the same thing every time (exhale emoji fr)
Some of the mechanics be acting goofy too.
The achievements soooo do not work if anybody cares about that.
Also would sooo not recommend if you have that epilepsy / or if you're blind. Playing deaf would make this game 10 times better though as the music highkey dreadful. Might also trip people out who are on LSD.
After repeating the same levels from fumbling the game too much I realised I could literalleh just be playin elder scrolls, or not playin anything and be having such a fun time. Even a choccy milk. Oh my gosh I really want a choccy milk right now. I am going to get one, though I left it in the freezer yesterday so I hope that does not affect it now that it has unfrozen (idk (I don't know) choccy milk / milk freeze to unfreeze mechanics fr).

I like the visual styling of the game, and the level design for the first few worlds is pretty good. It's fun up until world 4 which is almost entirely underwater based. The under water controls are extremely slow unless you dash, but the dash gives a lot of momentum, which is very hard to control while underwater. It's also worth mentioning that every boss fight functions the same. The music is also lack luster. If you're looking for a simple platformer to waste a few hours on, this is an alright choice, but it really doesn't do much that you can't find done elsewhere better.

Didn't figure out until level 5.3, but I was playing in about half speed the whole entire time. I know, I'm stupid. The reason? Having my monitor set to 170hz, or anything not 60. Other than that ruining pretty much the whole experience, great game. Hilariously weird art style, and snappy controls. That is, once I set my monitor to 60hz. Also, the water levels? Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

[strike]Quick heads up, if you're using a 144hz monitor (or anything other than 60hz), you'll need to go into your OS's display settings and manually set the screen refresh rate to 60hz for the game to run smoothly.[/strike] This seems to be fixed on my end though this problem wasn't specifically mentioned in the patch notes. If your game runs slowly you may still need to do this.

Updating the review since I honestly wasn't expecting this game to be updated after 4 years, damn. The gameplay feels a lot smoother now that some of the more frustrating gameplay bugs were dealt with (inconsistent platforms, stuck on terrain) which is a huge win! It doesn't fix every issue with the game but it definitely helps the game feel way better, and some of the other bug fixes and additions (achievements should actually unlock, menu quality of life) are really nice too.

The update has definitely helped the game enough to give it a thumbs up, but I am still iffy on actually recommending this. The visuals and music are awesome, but the level design is amateur in places with lots of awkward waiting and repetitive movement, world 4's water levels are truly grim and the bosses vary from almost no gameplay at all to being frustrating (last boss's blue bullet attack that's just an offscreen rng sniper rifle shot lol). But if you're still curious about the game I'd give it a try and see if you vibe with it.

Jogo nível super ultra hardcore, tem uma dificuldade semelhante ao Super Meat Boy onde o jogador vai morrer muitas e muitas vezes, se você é o individuo que se frusta rápido ao morrer diversas vezes, você vai pegar ódio pelo game, mas aqueles que curtem um bom desafio iram se esbaldar. Muitos aqui nos cometários, estão negativando o game por conta de não conseguirem jogar pela dificuldade, é bem desleal as crítica pelo fato da alta dificuldade, sei que os check-points são um pouco distantes, mas essa é a proposta do game...

A ambientação do game é toda psicodélica, lembrando muito o desenho "a hora da aventura" porém, há a sua própria originalidade criativa, muito bonito esse ecossistema maluco, e se prepare pra ultima fase, vai ralar e muito.
As musicas são bem animadas combinando diretamente com as fases.
Os controle e jogabilidade são bem responsivas, só deu uma bugada 1 vez mas tudo tranquilo e normal.
E o que mais gosto em games em plataforma 2D, são os coletáveis e Boss fight, e são bem desafiadores, parabéns aos desenvolvedores do game

after reading other reviews of glitched achievements and janky controlls, i thought you know what, its a small studio, people might be expecting too much from it, lets give it a shot!

What a frustrating mess of a game

Pro's : the art style is unique and eye catching, its vibrant and each level looks like a lot of effort and care went in to the design. The Story is easy to understand with no in game dialog needed. The mechanics of collecting something in a level, to then use it later on in a boss, is a fun concept i enjoy'd. This gave a lot of value to bonus levels where you could only attempt it once, but the reward made it worth it. The soundtrack in this game had my head bobbing along to every level, the sound effects were pleasant and not annoying. The over world looks so amazing in this game.

Cons : This game feels like it was made by someone who never playd through every level completely, but was learning how to make a game. The begging levels are extremely basic for difficulty and mechanics. By the time you hit the first world boss. its just a cannon and shooting the collectables you found. By the final boss, its a 4 stage boss, with parkour in between the buttons, pixel perfect jumps, tight timing, and rng of where bullets are being shot. This goes for the level 6-1 as well. It took over 30 minutes to complete, where any other level took under 10 minutes to 100%. I thought the deathless achievements in this game would be a fun challenge to aim for, doing world 1 was beyond easy. But once you hit later on worlds you realise each section of the map was only done once to see if it was do-able. If each level was fully tested from start to finish, i think it would be obvious how silly the achievements are. Enemys AI that chase you is made to catch up to the player no matter what, there speed increases the more distance they are away from you until they are 10 pixels behind you then they go back to being a snails pace. This is unfair if you as a player are running fast trying to find secrets and need to back track, only to have the thing chasing you be right behind you already. I found my character to get stuck on random invisible pixels during the maze level. This again shows things werent tested too much, just attempted until it was do-able then put in. The achievements in this game are still bugged. Anything related to world 5 unlocks for world 4 and vice versa. If simple fixes like these are missed, it just seems like the game was made and sent out. There have been multiple people complaining about issues with the game and nothing has gotten fixed. I can only reccomend this game for the ascetics. Nothing about the gameplay after world 3 made me want to continue playing it.

I've had my eye on this game for a while and I was super primed to enjoy it. The visuals are wacky, somewhat psychedelic, and reminiscent of old style platformers. I'm a big fan of chiptune and classic video game music, and it seemed like the soundtrack for this game would be in that realm. It almost went for an atari 2600 feel for the music. All of this seemed cool in concept, but I think the execution was poor, and overall I just did not enjoy this game. The game just feels very slow. Especially the water levels that you have to drudge through. Your character moves so slowly and takes forever to turn in the opposite direction. I enjoyed the music on one of the levels but I didn't much care for any of the others. And on top of that, there were no options to adjust the volume on the music or sound affects, it's just on or off. Again, I can't stress enough how up my alley this game is, it just felt tedious to play especially in the second half.

Difficulty:
This is a hard game. Most of the time it is hard because it feels like you cannot control your character. Sometimes there are things off screen that you are supposed to time correctly but you can't because they are off screen. There is also a glitch where you randomly get stuck in the floor and you lose all your momentum. Some platforms make you lose momentum when you get to the edge of them.
Some sections the game are pretty much impossible to not to get hit by something.

Gameplay:
The level design is not that good. throughout the entire game you will get dejavu because you will see things that you have already seen before. This is because the sections repeat themselves throughout each level with only a few things changed.

The checkpoints are poorly placed. sometimes you will get two checkpoints almost back to back during a fast and easy section then there will be no checkpoints during a long and hard section.

There is very little focus on killing enemies. Most of the time it's just better to avoid them. About half the enemies you find will be invincible anyway so it's better to not even try. Enemies just feel like moving obstacles rather than enemies.

The bosses are boring. Every boss is very similar to eachother.

The game is short, There are only four levels in each world and then a boss level. The bonus levels aren't even levels they're just garbage minigames.

There are not that many secret passages. Most of the spinch babies are in plain sight and there are no other collectibles. There is no incentive to collect the cubes because they only provide a short period of invincibility after collecting 50 which most of the time will be at a random and non beneficial time.

Story: there just isn't much story. You are a spinch and you save the babies.

Music: The composition of the chip tune music is very good. However, the pieces of music are short and repetitive which can get annoying when you are playing a level for 20+ minutes.

My experience:
I had some fun during the first three worlds and the fifth world. The fourth world was complete garbage. I stopped playing in the sixth world.
I got this game on sale in a pack of three games. It's not worth $15. Don't buy this art project if it's more than $3.00.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS DEAD GAME. If they ever put in the little amount of work it takes to fix it THEN you can reward them with your money. They are selling a broken game for $15.

Loved this game. I used to speedrun it. I have most of the WRs in the first few worlds. It's unfortunate that the developers have abandoned it as a very broken game. It actually has more issues than when it first was released. Here are the issues.

Before we start. Game has been reinstalled several times to try and fix it.

-Hz of monitor never used to matter. Now I have to lock my monitor to 60hz or else the game will slow down.
-Best times after world 4 are completely broken. They never save correctly. One level my record is around 1:20 but it says 13 minutes instead. Times are broken for the whole global leaderboard. The biggest gameplay strength this game had was speedrunning. These issues make that impossible.
-No QOL changes like better world and stage select. No ability to replay bosses for better times.
-Many instances of achievements not working. I have no personal issue with this because I don't achievement hunt but many people seem to have this issue so I will amplify their concerns here.
-Devs were unresponsive in the discord when we were all concerned about bugs that needed to be fixed. I was personally contacted about my issues but no patches have been put out since. The Akupara Games discord no longer lists Spinch as one of their games in the "Our Games" channel list. The game is essentially dead for them.

It is a shame because the art of Jesse Jacobs and the music of James Kirkpatrick rule. Those are some cool dudes who make incredible art who deserve at least a working polished game for their work to be presented in. This game should not be sold in the condition it is in. It doesn't even need much, just some bug fixes.

DO NOT BUY THIS DEAD GAME. If they ever put in the little amount of work it takes to fix it THEN you can reward them with your money. What a shame.

Fun game at the first glance, but it turned out my first impressions were wrong.
Yes, it is colorful. Yes it looks happy. But only looks.

A good platformer must have good level design, but this game doesn't have any level design better than corridors with timings. Levels look stylish, but feel empty when you play them. The game would be alright if only levels were a bad thing though.
Spinch lacks polish. There are a ton of bugs here and there, to the point that you can get softlocked and forced to restart a level if a weird collision happens. Some levels do not feel quite balanced, difficulty curve is weird. All bonus levels are the same level with different aesthetics. At least the bosses are different lol.

Overall, it was a dull and a bit annoying playthrough. I don't even want to to any of the post-game stuff. Meh.

I kinda of liked this game up until the 4th world, because it takes away the tight controls for annoyingly designed water levels that give momentum in it, which makes you die even though it isn't your fault. Also besides this, the game started to grow a bit stale when I reached the second half of the second world.

However, you might like this game because the levels are varied enough to keep some interested. But I got a bit bored and even though I wanted to push through, the 4th world started to annoy me a bit too much.

The controls are a mess. Platformers are at their best when controls are tight. There is nothing but frustration when your character dies due to momentum carrying over when landing. You could argue, "Momentum is realistic."

My reply would be, "Sure it is. You play as a white ball being chased by a giant rainbow colored worm. Make it make sense."

Movement feels okayish at the beggining, but soon it all goes to the trash.

Problems I've seen:
-The game has big issues when playing on higher framerates than 60, you have to force it through Nvidia Panel
-There's no back button on the gamepad, you want to exit from the menu? Too bad
-No one explains you anything, no tutorial, just cubes
-The bosses mechanichs feel repetitive, as the level designs, since they repeat some parts just in different forms or sizes
-When you have mastered the rather clunky movement, they take it from you in almost a whole world

I'm only on the 4th planet and I'll end the game because I've already progressed enough, but for me, if you are doubting of playing it, it's a big no, unless you want to see some cool colors

Precision platforming... but with controls that felt unresponsive and plenty of bugs. The long stage in final level almost made me give up, as Spinch would frequently get stuck while running on flat surfaces and could only start running again after jumping. Super frustrating, especially when stop moving suddenly while being chased by a pink blob that forces a restart whenever it caches you.

If not for the poor controls and smattering of bugs, this game would be pretty cool. Funky soundtrack fits the psychedelic visuals perfectly. A bit repetitive by the end, but with enough fun ideas that I *wanted* to enjoy it... In the end, Spinch offered more frustration than fun. Not recommended.

I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews for this game. My only real beefs were the underwater levels and a handful of nitpicks.

I suspect there's something of a Dark Souls situation going on here. The game starts off slow, but gets tough rather quickly. My suspicion is that some people are just bitter that they can't progress. Unfortunately, this game doesn't have the legion of fans to help balance out the review score. Granted, it's not bad right now, but it should be much higher. That's how strongly I feel about this game.

Also, don't play this game if you have epilepsy or are prone to seizures. JUST FRIGGIN DON'T!

El juego es muy divertido si te gustan los juegos difíciles y de plataformas.
Los jefes tienen mecánicas bastante intuitivas al igual que los diferentes mundos todo dependerá de la agilidad y paciencia que tengas para poder completarlos.
Un punto malo podrían ser las luces y los colores (aunque fue esto lo que me llevo a comprar el juego en primer lugar) ya que puedes llegar a marearte pero en lo personal no he sufrido ningún dolor de cabeza, nauseas ni convulsiones al jugar este titulo y eso que he jugado durante horas tratando de conseguir mejores tiempos y los logros de steam.
He jugado bajo los efectos del THC, psilocibina y LSD y ha sido divertido aunque en una ocasión me llegue a asustar asi que a pesar de la temática psicodelica dependerá de la dosis y de tu propio autocontrol para poder disfrutar este titulo con "lentes 3D"

[h1] Story [/h1] Wir spielen Spinch oder einen Spinch (was auch immer das ist) und müssen unsere babys vor einem Mehrfarbigen Ungeheuer retten

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 6 Welten mit jeweils 4 Level und einem Boss Kampf. Die Level selbst sind relativ kurz und sind anfangs natürlich recht simpel und werden immer schwerer, so wie es ja auch sein soll aber nie wirklich unfair. Zudem hat man auch 3 Herzen, so das man 2 mal getroffen werden kann + Checkpoints in den Leveln. Man kann auch zusätzliche Herzen in den Leveln finden welche aber nicht permanent sind. Die Boss Kämpfe laufen immer nach dem gleichen Muster ab. Wir müssen einen Knopf betätigen damit eine Kanone lädt und müssen denn einen weiteren Knopf betätigen um mit der Kanone zu feuern, dies wiederholen wir solange bis der jeweilige Boss besiegt ist. In den einzelnen Leveln kann man immer 3 Babys (außer in Welt 6 dort sind es deutlich mehr pro Level) finden. Diese bringen aber nur etwas für Achievements und sonst nichts. Zudem kann man in 2 der jeweiligen Level immer ein Bonus Level freischalten indem man ein Lilanes Wesen einsammelt. Die Bonus Level sind auch immer gleich und man hat immer nur 1 Versuch diesen zu schaffen. Hier steht ein Wesen oben und wirft seine Babys runter und wir müssen diese einfangen. Haben wir mindestens 75% geschafft, bekommen wir eine Bombe als Belohnung die dann im Boss Kampf als automatische Munition eingesetzt wird um mehr Schaden zu machen, was sehr nützlich ist. Musik & Grafik sind sehr cool gemacht und auch die Steuerung ist ordentlich. Was mich aber dazu gebracht hat mit dem Achievement run aufzuhören (man muss alle Level + Bosse schaffen ohne einmal getroffen zu werden), war ein dämlicher Bug beim Boss Kampf in Welt 5. Ich habe diesen besiegt und kein Achievement bekommen und das nachdem man sich so abgequält hat in den vorherigen Leveln. Auch ätzend ist der Bug das man beim Boss in Welt 5 keine Bomben bekommt, obwohl man diese freigeschaltet hat. Es war sehr frustrierend und ich habe kein Bock, nochmal anzufangen, nur um dann wieder durch den blöden Bug zu scheitern

[h1] Achievements [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 31 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man alle Babys im Spiel einsammeln (3 pro Level außer in Welt 6 dort sind es immer mehrere), zudem muss man alle Level + Bosse schaffen ohne zu sterben und ohne auch nur einmal getroffen zu werden (natürlich nicht in einem Durchgang sondern Level für Level, heisst wenn man getroffen wird muss man das Level einfach neu beginnen). Aufgrund des Bugs den ich hatte scheint es aber nicht Möglich zu sein alle Erfolge zu bekommen

- Beim Welt 5 Boss zählen die vorher gesammelten Bomben aus den Bonus Leveln nicht
- Nach besiegen des Welt 5 Boss ohne getroffen zu werden habe ich kein Achievement bekommen (dies war bis dahin kein Problem und ich habe definitiv alle vorherigen Level in Welt 5 ohne getroffen zu werden beendet)

[h1] Fazit [/h1] Wenn man das Spiel einfach nur durchspielen möchte ohne Stress, dann ist es ein wirklich sehr cool gemachter 2D Platformer und vor allem auch sehr fair mit den 3 Herzen + Checkpoints. Wenn man aber die Achievements angehen möchte, kann es schnell frustrieren weil man Level immer und immer wieder spielen muss. Teilweise saß ich an 2 bestimmten Leveln 3 Stunden dran, solange braucht man nicht einmal das komplette Spiel durchzuspielen, was echt frustrierend wird und wenn man dann nach beenden von Welt 5 dann plötzlich kein Achievement aufgrund eines Bugs mehr bekommt dann verliert man sofort die Lust weiter zu machen, denn nochmal von vorne, nur um dann wieder an der Stelle zu versagen macht keinen Sinn. Kleine Warnung für Achievement Hunter, ich kann nicht sagen ob es jetzt ein einmaliger Bug war oder es mehrere Spieler getroffen hat aber in der Community steht davon nichts, darum hatte ich mich selbst auch gewundert aber fakt ist, das es bei mir passiert ist, was mich immer noch sehr aufregt. Es ist halt vergeudete Zeit die man investiert hat für nichts

The visuals in Spinch are awesome, but World 4 is where it went from a decent 2D platformer with slightly boring level design to agonising exercise in frustration. The underwater controls are absolute GARBAGE. You are a fraction of your usual speed, and even then it takes TWO SECONDS to come to a stop, which will really become a problem once the levels start getting more and more stingy with the checkpoints. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game ruining mechanic.

I can only give this a recommendation if it's on pretty big sale, even though it feels bad not being able to wholeheartedly recommend something as unique as this. I adore the aesthetic and style, the sights and sounds, the levels and bosses, mostly everything -- but once you get to world 3 the gameplay is abysmal. It's a bunch of water levels, so the nice momentum and speed that came so naturally in the first two worlds gives way to the most sluggish, unresponsive movement I think I have ever experienced. It drags down the entire experience so much that I gave up on seeing what world 4 has to offer.

If you can get it for a few bucks, I think that'd be worth it to play the first two worlds. And, if you do try to go through world 3 past that, I have some advice: A) Use a keyboard for the underwater stuff. For some reason it seems to control a lot more responsively, but still far from good. B) In the jet streams, you can slow down by holding the opposite direction key to the direction you're going. They don't tell you that you can do that, but it is necessary to get through those levels.

I love it! The cute psychedelic art along with the trippy animations. The game is definitely a challenge & it tests my patience & pattern recognition. I'm halfway through & I'm enjoying (also raging) at every second of it.Update: I completed the game after taking a long break from it.. the pain has finally subsided. ..Please make a new one.

I really wanted to like this game because I adore the graphics, and it's not completely terrible, but I can't recommend it. The game is difficult to the point of being extremely frustrating, which I don't mind, but without feeling rewarding or satisfying. The handful of neat ideas on display are drowned out by a parade of the usual tired old platformer mechanics that no one actually enjoys: floaty movement in water, ice physics, long cycles, unnecessary RNG.

I don't think there's any reason to play this game when so many other incredible platformers exist.

Was more or less vibing with this game until World 6, at which point an enemy is introduced that requires near perfect movement to avoid in some sequences. However, the player character physics aren't exactly consistent here, from losing wall bounce momentum randomly to suddenly stopping on flat surfaces for no reason. It single-handedly diminished any interest I had in completing the game. I just don't care anymore.

Oh yeah, the horizontal acceleration in the water levels is horrible too.

This is, in its essence, a short to medium length 2D platformer with obviously tons of colors, and awesome animations. Music is alright most of the times, but does get annoying/repetitive, especially within the longer stages.

As far as the controls go, they are a tad unusual for the genre (definitely more floaty than what you'd expect), but simple enough to get used to quickly. The quality of the level design varies tremendously. The first three worlds work well in general, albeit there is some tediousness to be found as many of the challenges are just repeated multiple times in a row. There is also a lot of downtime in general (having to wait for obstacles to align in certain ways), which feels weird in a game with a timer in every level encouraging you to go as fast as you can. Anyway, I like what the woke worms and rolling logs (forgot the latter's real name) brought to the levels.

Don't have much to say about world 5, it was fine.

On the other hand, world 4 (water world) is possibly one of the slowest, most boring platforming experience I've had in recent memory. It's not even that hard, with only a few cheap traps here and there. But everything moves so slowly and again, is repeated excessively.

And then world 6, while I don't necessarily disapprove the very sudden and extreme ramp up in difficulty, gets difficult for the wrong reasons: the checkpoints are grossly far apart, the only non-boss level is way too long and repetitive (and a maze, cause why not, right?), and some problems in the controls get more visible, like how I would sometimes get stuck on the floor until I jumped, for no apparent reason.

Finally, there are some bugs. Apart from getting stuck to the floor, I remember at least 2 achievements being mixed up, as well as the game somehow taking my best times for world 4 levels and registering them in world 5 instead. At least, none broke the game.

I'm disappointed I can't recommend the game, because it did start showing much promise and originality, but the later parts just aren't very fun to play.

-One of the first games where I actually hated the OST and sound effects. Every noise in this game sounds terrible.

-The Aesthetic is cool, but it is not nearly enough to carry the game.

-Level design from start to finish is incredibly repetitive and boring.

-Player movement is solid but pretty simplistic.

I made it to about half way through the 4th world before throwing in the towel on this one. A lot of people in reviews mention that the game starts off great and gets bad after world 3, I would disagree. I would say the game starts off slightly below average and then never really improves. Only reason I quit at world 4 was out of boredom and knowing that there is slim to no chance the next 2 worlds were gonna improve substantially enough for me to care.

Even at a massive discount I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a platformer.

I'll be frank, while Spinch is a treat for the eyes, it is not a joy to play.

This game really feels like an artist or animator wanted to make a video game, because while it is gorgeous, the platforming is slow, feels unresponsive, and is difficult for all the wrong reasons.

Try out the demo and if you can tolerate the gameplay then maybe it'll be worth it. But I much prefer functionality over artistry when it comes to playable media, and Spinch just isn't that.

The controls feel great and the art and sound/music design are awesome. I enjoy playing it in small chunks as I'm not an avid platformer, but I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the genre - even I can tell the platforming is ideal!

The game feels great movement wise and the first few levels really start off good but as soon as the game decides to switch things up and add new mechanics it starts to gets kinda annoying to play.
The reason for this is that the further into the game they introduce more and more things that slow you down and forces you to either wait for or gently float along with gaps between enemies.
I wouldn't mind if there was levels like this every once in a while but after the first world it really just turns into "wait for cycles the game" where every single challenge that shows up in your path really is just a to challenge your patience lol.

I ended up playing through like 5 worlds hoping that the one i was on just had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gimmick to it. I still kept playing though, thinking that i might as well finish it since it seemed to be like max 5 hours long but then I ran into the water world and JESUS CHRIST IT'S BAD.

I generally think that people are too hard to water levels in video games cause the change of pace in the middle can be nice sometimes. But considering this game has been forcing you to slow down the entire time until this point it really didn't provide this feeling.
Instead it introduced these awful water controls that has so much inertia you just run into spikes or enemies if you ever try to speed up since slowing down to a stop takes a good ~3 seconds.
And to add some salt to the injury the last 2 levels in the water world have these tight spiky environments which really don't function for these kind of controls at all so the difficulty just spikes super hard for these sections.
It feels like the water controls were either changed after the levels were made or that the levels just weren't tested.
At this point I decided to stop playing and just not bother.
