Plays great at first, but there's a game breaking bug/issue in the forced tutorial you can't skip (have to grab a mask that's well outside my playzone and there's no movement beyond physically walking, so i'd have to set up my VR outside or something to have the room to physically walk there), and since the developer's last announcement was back in 2021, it's safe to assume it won't be fixed.
It's a shame, because it's an awesome game despite that, with what little I saw anyway.

Playing on a decent rig and the game can't keep a steady framerate even on low settings. Just stutters a lot. Maybe the game doesn't like Vega, but it doesn't run well at all with my Vega 64 and R5 5600X
Spell gestures were not consistent even when it wasn't stuttering. Maybe a pass until the game gets better optimized.
Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop: Only the tutorial loads up. Everything else is stuck on a waiting screen. Sadly.
Played it briefly and it seems most every spell does the same thing, resulting in a game that has no real choice when it comes to which attacks you use. Add some variety in spell behaviors and I think you'll have something pretty interesting here, but for now it's a no from me.

fun gameplay, but the spell gesture detection is a bit funky (especially with the shield spell, i can't seem to get it right on a normal basis). 100% worth it on sale

А так замечательная дуэль! Та же динамичность, что на привью Руки чуть не отвалились, при том, что мне все равно, какой крутить. Вот чуть обе и не отвалились. И это пока против ботов. Но дойдем и до людей. Кто-то там даже был. Пока не поняла, есть ли микрофон, гоняться в Rush, разговаривая, было здорово. Наверное, стоять на месте может и надоесть. Но как тренировочка - отлично.
This game has a wonderful aesthetic and is fun. The gesture-based spellcasting does, indeed, make you feel like a wizard (I did have some trouble getting it to activate reliably, but I suspect that's a personal issue given my abysmal art skills and similar problems with games that used "draw a shape" mechanics on the DS back in the day.) The potential is huge here, and I'm excited for where this is going.
However, if you're not into PvP, there's not a great deal of content at this time-- just a tutorial and a handful of AI bots. It is, however, still early access, so we might see more down the road. This style of gameplay almost begs for an adventure mode-- maybe featuring Metroidvania-style exploration where finding new spells allows you to clear obstacles and advance?
You -can- dodge incoming spells and as far as I can tell there's no stick movement. You don't need full roomscale, but make sure you have enough space to move and duck to either side.
To be honest with you SpellPunk is much more fun than I imagined it would be. Since I have this game I am playing it with a friend of mine. We are speaking on Discord while dueling and we can’t stop laughing and yelling at each other. SpellPunk is super fun and is one of those games that are easy to learn but hard to master. Since my first hour in the game I am pretty confident that I can draw all of the spells. Drawing spells is super intuitive as you are making it with your hands and there is no need to smash some unnecessary buttons. I also enjoy the music and think that it corresponds great with Spellpunk’s visuals

TLDR; Worth supporting, but a long way to go.
This game is a work in progress, there are definitely some wrinkles that need to be ironed out. Having said that, there is a lot of charm to the concept of core gameplay. I feel like there's a lot of potential and while you may not love the game now, it could grow into something special with support. There are a lot of problems that I will lay out so while I am giving it my recommendation, it's current state may not satisfy you. Here we go.
WHAT I LIKE:
-Drawing symbols for different spells makes you feel like Dr Strange. It can be fussy and takes some practice to get used to, but a calm steady hand can replicate the elemental symbols with relative ease (More on this below).
-Combat driven by glyph drawing places an emphasis on precision that limits the ability to spam attacks. If someone is rapid firing a combination of different attacks then they aren't wildly flailing and hoping the game gives them a pity spell, they know what they're doing.
-Neon environments like synthwave album art. Gorgeous and loud.
WHAT IT NEEDS (AND IT NEEDS A LOT)
-Lobbies or private matches of any kind. Fortunately for my friend and I we seemed to be the only ones online when we played so we kept instantly matching together. I hope the game gets a following and If it does I'll need a way to play with friends, there's no excuse for this one.
-The players. Its brand new but like I said, I don't think almost anyone has heard of it
-Variety in play-style. It would be better if only a few spells were attacks while others could offer different utilities, or better yet tie spell combinations together like Magicka. All of the attacks behave the same too, it'd be nice if there was a delayed laser, or something that arcs so the opponent has to raise their shield in different angles. For now they all just move at different speeds
-A more forgivable tracing system. There are some weird case sensitivities that don't make sense, I think a lot of it is in how much you rotate your hand mid glyph. Sometimes its super forgiving, other times it laughs at your attempt at finger painting triangles
I saw it being broadcasted and decide to try it. It’s great fun, definitely recommend it. Needs a bigger community though.
I was a bit skeptical about this game reading the reviews but decided to try it anyway. I was able to cast all of the spells. The game is really cool and has a lot of potential.
Great stuff even in Early Access! Needed around 30 mins to get used to the casting but after that it was flawless. Great fun and it reminds me of an old Warcraft custom map. Looking forward to more multiplayer battles with people online!
The spells that the game shows you how to use dont work half of the time and no one even has this game so you cant get into a game with other people. The only "match" you can play is with a bot which you cant even beat.
