This is a good point and click, I went in with low expectations having read some of the negative reviews before hand and the consistant criticism is the bad ending. So I went in with that expectation.

I dunno I did not think this ending negated the entire game, and honestly it's not bad, it makes sense. it is somewhat of a twist ending, but things should click in your head once it's revealed. It's not tacked on just for the sake of it like some have suggested, it does make a lot of what you encounter in the game make sense. This was clearly crafted with the ending in mind the whole time. The art style makes sense, the people discussing fate and every night is all fated makes sense. And that's all I'll say without spoiling.

I thought the conclusion was fun. I think people are being to way too hard on it. It's not the best point and click of your life, but it's beautiful, works with a controller, easy to follow and in fact my sole criticism of the game is the puzzles don't ever get to a place where you feel challeged, it's all pretty easy, great voice acting, enjoyable and shocking scenarios. It's not bad at all.

I had high hopes for this game! Amazing Art and Voiceacting but the main Character isnt well written at all. In one Scene he screams at a Statue he finds that doesnt look scary in the slightest ( i wont spoil too much ) and directly in the same area he finds something actually horrifying and barely reacts at all?? Also the way he reacts when he finishes the Crosswalk Puzzle isnt right either.. sure he panics in the moment because of the aftermath right when it happens, but once you continue on with the Story he has close to no Emotions toward the Subject and what hes done.. What also bothers me is that there are so many items that you can use to solve the Puzzles around the area that you simply cannot use or just straight up cant interract with at all! Its incredibly frustrating not to mention that you basically have to figure out what you have to do in order to progress the story! ( The game literally gives you nothing unless you click for hints im talking about what normal games do like: " Alright i got these items ill see if someone in town can help me with this.." not even that! ) Look im all for puzzle games, thats mostly what i play even, but when the game doesnt even give you an area where we could look further into? Or the People in the game giving you actual useful information like how can you not know even some information about a person who lives in such a small town?? There are so much Writing, Puzzle and Character design mistakes which is sad since i was really looking forward to this game... 4/10 the points are only there for the Artists and Voiceactors....

It started off well. The familiar penniless point and click protagonist who has to solve his problems with wit rather than money immediately makes a good impression. Combined with his charming personality, he is instantly likeable. The art style and voice acting make it easy to immerse yourself in the game.
It does not take long for the horror and mystery elements to appear, creating a great atmosphere. Some of the puzzles were a bit too easy, but for me this was balanced out by the strong story and the dark mood.
Unfortunately, the ending was so anticlimactic that the tension that had been carefully built up throughout the game was completely lost. This weakened what had been a fascinating story until that point and left me disappointed.
I do not want to spoil the ending, but since the story is one of the most important aspects for me, I cannot recommend it. This is especially unfortunate because it is clear from the beginning that a lot of love and creativity went into making the game.

Перед нами классический point&click квест, с отличной картинкой, нарисованной будто вручную. Технически нареканий нет, работает безукоризненно.
Однако, сюжет и история как будто слишком простые, лично меня она вообще не зацепила, персонажи картонные, с большинством из которых у тебя по паре строчек диалога.
Окружение и стиль повествования в игре напоминает мне что-то в стиле сериала "Байки из склепа", потому что несмотря на лёгкую и пугающую атмосферу, происходящее кажется скорее чёрной комедией, чем ужастиком.

Загадки не сказать что интересные, но простые, правда по большей части как будто не совсем логичные, ну то есть тебе как и раньше в таком жанре нужно постоянно всё тыкать друга на друга и друг с другом. Благо по карте можно перемещаться очень быстро и удобно, вот где действительно жирный плюс.

Финал, который тут многие ругают, как по мне наоборот хотя бы немного сделал эту историю интересной, иначе бы получилось что-то настолько типично намешанное про "глухой городок и писателя", что я даже не знаю, кого бы такое могло поразить, только человека с очень маленькой начитанностью и насмотренностью.
Жаль только тему писательства, которая была поднята, так слаба реализована в игре, где эта профессия является центральным стержнем истории. Примеров из книг и прочего много, а не воспользовались ни одним, что весьма и весьма печально.

Подводя итог, эту игру особо не за что ругать, ведь она действительно сделана качественно, выглядит красиво, работает прекрасно и вообще получилась классическим образчиком жанра. Но проблема как раз таки в этом и кроется, здесь нет глубины в сюжете, нет контраста между событиями, действительно интересных или необычных героев или сюжетных приёмов, а получается такая типичная каша из клишированных историй в этом жанре, впитавшая в себя слишком мало плюсов, но и не забравшая минусы.
Именно поэтому я и не поставлю отрицательную оценку, чтобы не портить своим личным, въедливым восприятием вполне приятную страшилку на вечерок, которая как минимум не заслуживает быть погребённой под тоннами посредственных игр в стиме.

Una piccola perla per chi ama le avventure punta e clicca

Slender Threads è una di quelle sorprese che capitano quando meno te lo aspetti. Lo inizi magari pensando di trovarti davanti al classico punta e clicca indie, e invece piano piano ti accorgi che c'è qualcosa di più: un equilibrio riuscito tra mistero, ironia e quella strana atmosfera un po’ inquietante che ti accompagna per tutta l’avventura.

La prima cosa che mi ha colpito è il tono del gioco. Pur muovendosi dentro una storia che ha chiaramente elementi oscuri e surreali, riesce continuamente a strappare un sorriso. L’umorismo è intelligente e mai forzato.
In questo senso mi ha ricordato molto l’ironia dei vecchi classici delle avventure grafiche, in particolare Monkey Island. Non tanto per imitazione diretta, quanto per quello spirito leggero e autoironico che rende l’esplorazione sempre piacevole.

Ed è proprio questo spirito che rende il gioco così godibile: non si prende mai troppo sul serio, ma allo stesso tempo riesce a mantenere viva la curiosità. Ogni nuova area, ogni personaggio e ogni piccolo enigma sembra avere qualcosa da raccontare.

Dal punto di vista del gameplay, il titolo rimane fedele alla tradizione: esplorazione, dialoghi, oggetti da combinare e puzzle che richiedono osservazione e logica. Gli enigmi sono ben calibrati: abbastanza impegnativi da farti ragionare, ma senza mai scadere nella frustrazione tipica di alcune vecchie avventure grafiche.

Anche lo stile visivo contribuisce molto all’atmosfera. C’è qualcosa di volutamente strano e quasi “distorto” nel mondo di gioco, che accompagna perfettamente il tono surreale della storia. È uno di quei casi in cui grafica, scrittura e ritmo narrativo lavorano tutti nella stessa direzione.

In definitiva, Slender Threads è una piccola gemma per chi ama le avventure punta e clicca. Ha personalità, ha senso dell’umorismo e soprattutto dimostra quanto questo genere abbia ancora molto da dire quando viene trattato con passione.

The storyline is so unique and interesting. I played the demo years ago and had been waiting for this to drop. I recently finally had the time to play the game and I can honestly say that it was worth the wait :) The art, the story, the music, the mechanics/gameplay aspect of it was so enjoyable, I'm going to be achivement hunting for the few that I had missed in my first playthrough (which has only happened one other time).

[i]Slender Threads tells the story of Harvey, an unsuccessful writer who travels to the sleepy little port town "Villa Ventana" in search of inspiration for his next book. During his stay at the local hotel, he witnesses a series of strange incidents.[/i]

I had Slender Threads on my wishlist for several years and was expecting a spooky version of "Edna & Harvey" or "Deponia" with a good dose of wit. Indeed, it had all of that, but I still can't recommend it. The game has a beautiful hand-drawn art style, a perfect pinch of humor, excellent voice acting, and an interesting plot until the final chapters. I had a lot of fun for the first three hours till the story took a really weird turn. I don't want to spoiler anything, so I try to explain why Slender Threads disappointed me with a non-story related example: Imagine you buy a crime novel about a killer. You spend 8 out of 10 chapters interviewing suspects, examining crime scenes and gathering clues, and just when the tension reaches its peak and you're about to find out who the killer is, your character wakes up and realizes it was all just a dream. Would you like that? None of this actually happens, but it's quite a fitting example for the frustrating ending you get. In short: Slender Threads helps you build up a beautiful story bubble, only to pop it just before the end. If the ending had been different, I would definitely recommend it, but the last few hours completely ruined the tension of the previous chapters.

Justo acabo de terminar el epílogo y quiero decirle a cualquier persona que vaya a comprarse el juego algunas cosas:
1 Yo principalmente el juego me lo compré porque me encanto el estilo de dibujo y la premisa que tenía. Ninguna de esas dos cosas ha cambiado, pero si he de decir que para mí se ha quedado a medias/ con potencial desaprovechado.

2 La cosa que menos me ha gustado ha sido la jugabilidad. Al tratarse de un point and click, obviamente tienes que ir resolviendo puzzles con objetos que vas encontrando. El problema es q en ningún momento del juego te indican que tienes que ir haciendo o que objeto necesitas, esas cosas. En mi caso he tenido que jugar TODO el rato con una guía porque sino me era imposible seguir con la historia.

3 Y por último ALERTA SPOILER:

El hecho de que el juego se llame slender threads porque son todo marionetas y están siendo controladas.... No me ha gustado para nada como lo han desarrollado. En ningún momento se llega a romper la cuarta pared, y simplemente al final lo tienes que deducir por la cinemática mostrada.

La verdad es que es un juego corto (yo he tardado 4 horas en completarlo) pero me da bastante pena que no hayan ejecutado correctamente todo el potencial que los personajes y la trama tenían.Aún así no se llega a pasar un mal rato si lo vas jugando con una guía, pero sin ella me parece imposible pasarselo, haciendo que pierdas todas las ganas de jugarlo.

Damn, how I wish I could recommend it! The music is beautiful, the animation is perfect, and the voice acting is top notch! But the story...it's just...bad. Well, not at first. It captivates you, get's you so excited, and then the last hour completely takes a nosedive into one of the most disappointing endings I've had in a game! It was as if the devs didn't know what to do with the story, so they chopped it halfway through and segwaye'd into something that was completely unattached, devoid of all creativity and so abruptly done I felt my heart drop - and not in a good way!
6 hours for twenty bucks is barely worth it, 6 hours and a story that cuts halfway through into a boring, cheesy, and uninspired ending makes me wish I could refund it. I'm so saddened by it, this game had SO much potential and truly had me in the first half.

Это очень хорошо сделанная игра с максимально разочаровывающей концовкой. Честно говоря, я искал что то подобное уже давно и, в какой то мере рад, что нашел, но, к сожалению, последние 15 минут игры, перечеркнули все предыдущие, почти, 6 часов прохождения. Лучше всего ее характеризует фраза "Рояль в кустах". К сожалению, больше сказать нечего.

El juego es un 10, la parte visual, la historia, los personajes, los puzzles, realmente hacia mucho que no jugaba una aventura grafica entretenida, por lo general se tornan aburridas o empiezan a meter puzzles sin sentido.. Todo esta muy bien pensado, si bien muchas veces el mapa crece mucho y te pierdes un poco, tiene un mapa que se puede abrir y te ahorra ir de un lado para el otro. Underwhelming game, the first 2 hours was fine. But then it went so bad, unbelievably bad. I don't get the paid reviews or whatever. There is just no way people like this. For one, it is very short, it can be finished in 3 hours, and the quality drops halfway through to unbearable. I had it open for a while and had to see a walkthrough to see the ending, because of quality drop. Save yourself the trouble and buy their other games not this one.

Would I recommend this game? Probably not. But it's not bad, it kept me entertained for a weekend and there were certainly things I liked about it.

The Pros:
+ Liked the art style
+ Point-and-Click Adventure with Horror Elements

The Mid:
* Voice-acting was zany but didn't hit quite right to me.
* One puzzle felt like a homage to Monkey Island, but it was basically the same puzzle, just worse.

The Not-So-Good:
- A lot of unnecessary back-and-forth across the map felt like padding.
- Lack of background music while walking around made it feel a bit tedious at times.
- The puzzles weren't particularly satisfying to solve, maybe the difficulty was a bit too easy and the lack of narrative exposition by the protagonist made progress feel less fulfilling.

Overall, I'd probably give it a 6/10.

Мне понравилось. Динамичный, интригующий сюжет захватывает с первых минут, развивается практически без провисаний. Диалоги достаточно информативны и не затянуты - в кои-то веки во время прохождения не возникало желания их пропускать.
Сложность довольно низкая - застревать буквально негде, пиксельхантинг минимален, перебирать предметы и их сочетания не потребовалось.
Перевод качественный, выполненный с душой. Визуал симпатичен и радует глаз.
К минусам можно отнести разве что продолжительность - игра проходится буквально за один вечер.

Cool point & click. I'd give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. The order of doing things is logical, which is always a plus for a game like that, and the story is kinda cool, with a surprising twist at the end. Cool animations but i would have hoped for a bit more difficulty, a bit more originality and for the game to last longer.

Есть много моментов не про логику, а на потыкать предметы поочередно, надеясь, что это сработает. Очень в духе "старой школы", что раздражает.
Сюжет неплохой, но финал действительно "открытый", будто кончились идеи, чем именно это все закончить.

Questa avventura grafica è bella, e la si gioca molto bene.
Non ci sono spiegoni, non ci sono dialoghi lunghi. La trama non ha senso, il finale nemmeno ma l'ambientazione ti prende subito e ti immerge dentro questa simil-Thimbleweed, dove dopo pochi passi, inizi a capire che devi fare certe cose con certi oggetti, e inizi a divertirti.
Non ci sono scene d'intermezzo interminabili che ti raccontano la lontana e dimenticata storia di questa cittadina e dei suoi abitanti...no. Si passa subito all'azione, ed è questo che mi è piaciuto un sacco :)
Il finale, come ho già detto, è quello che è. Anzi, secondo me, come spesso capita, questo gioco non sapevano come farlo finire, e hanno tirato a caso coi dadi, cercando anche un mini colpo di scena, che però alla fine non sta in piedi.
Ma a noi ce ne frega qualcosa? No.
Se l'avventura è bella, si passa sopra qualsiasi cosa. E questa lo è.
In fondo, non è che mi serve sapere sempre il perchè delle cose che faccio, a volte basta capire il perchè il gioco si aspettava da me questo o quello e via che si va.
Qua e là mi è sembrato di vedere qualche citazione ad altri giochi...ma forse è semplicemente il fatto che alcuni enigmi sono diventati così classici da venire riproposti ciclicamente, ogni tanto.
La grafica è un bel mix di 2D e 3D.
Gli sfondi che si muovono in 3D mi sono piaciuti...e lo dico io che rimpiango ancora la grafica degli anni 90, a 256 colori :D
L'interfaccia è molto comoda e moderna.
Ma soprattutto, non dimentichiamocelo mai in questo tipo di giochi, qui è presente l'ingrediente PIU' importante di qualsiasi avventura grafica: l'autoironia.
Questi giochi, che spesso propongono situazioni irreali e ingiustificabili hanno tremendamente bisogno di prendersi poco sul serio e sparare qua e là qualche cazzata per farti ridere.
Questo gioco lo fa. E per fortuna che lo fa, altrimenti sarebbe stato troppo pesante.
L'atmosfera è quella di un thriller, un pò cupo, con anche qualche simpatico jumpscare prevedibilissimo, ma ci sta...
Quando hanno iniziato a capitare alcune morti, alcune scene cruente, avevo paura di ritrovarmi nuovamente in un "I have no mouth and I must scream"...ma fortunatamente poi arrivano quegli "whoops" e quelle situazioni demenziali che immediatamente ti fanno tirare un sospiro di sollievo.
Tutti i pollici in alto per questo bel gioco, e per tutti, intendo proprio TUTTI... ;)

Como jugador que probo la demo antes que el juego saliera, sentí que el juego me quedo muy corto, por lo demás fue la misma demo la que me llevo a comprar el juego, la historia me llamo la atención y quería saber su conclusión, aunque no me termino de gustar como se va desarrollando la historia. Tiene un final "bueno" por asi decirlo, creo que es un buen juego si es que estas empezando a jugar Point & Click Adventures.

I really enjoyed my time with Slender Threads. The atmosphere is the strongest part of the game, the voice acting, music, and visuals work really well together. It has this gloomy but cozy vibe that keeps you engaged and makes the world feel oddly comforting despite how dark it can be.

The story is interesting and kept me curious, but it feels like it needed a bit more development. There are quite a few moments where things jump forward too fast or leave questions unanswered, which made it feel like some parts were missing.

The ending didn’t fully land for me. It felt rushed and a bit forced, like the game was trying to wrap everything up too quickly instead of letting it flow naturally.

Still, I’d say it’s worth playing, especially if you enjoy narrative games with strong atmosphere and a slightly unsettling tone. I just wish the story had been given a bit more room to breathe.

Some good art, voicing and situations with puzzles that mostly worked. Within the first hour you know every puzzle and the logic of every solution, which is where it was a bit let down.
Being able to see the whole mechanic so early made it feel more like 'fetch quests' than puzzles. There are 2 things I dislike in PNC. One is where there are multiple items 'in the scenery' that would solve the puzzle, but you can't interact with them. This makes the whole puzzle feel 'constructed' rather than part of the flow of the story. The other pet peeve is where you are sent back and forth all over the map because the thing you need is only unlocked after you solve something else. For one solution to open the next problem is great, it flows, but in Slender Threads it feels more like a deliberate way to stretch out too few ideas into too long a game.
Overall, I enjoyed parts of it and it's good enough - but it could have been much better with a little work.

Buena novela visual, con temática bastante oscura, especialmente en el desenlace de la historia, con una vuelta de tuerca en cuanto a narrativa. Para mi gusto, siendo el tipo de juego que es, y aun teniendo unos gráficos de gran calidad, no llega a justificar el coste del juego, el cual ronda los 20€. Dura unas 4 horas, que me parece correcto, no se hace ni largo ni corto, dura lo que tiene que durar. En general, me parece una buena visual novel, con la única pega del precio.

The ending was meh. I was hoping the devs would take an approach similar to the game "Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive", especially when they started talking about fate and how it can't be changed. Even the child at the end was hinting towards multiple timelines/a time loop. The entire thing really fell flat on its face for me. Don't recommend it unless it's on sale; I got it for 35% off and I don't think it's worth $13. Art style is good, voice acting is good, mechanics are good, but the story itself is very middle of the road and nothing noteworthy. 5/10.

Brilliant game! Well paced, the dialogs are snappy, smooth navigation. Great humour and story. The puzzles follow old school logic - tricky enough to keep you thinking, but not random or impossible to figure out.

As for the ending - I loved it. Including the epilogue.

I really enjoyed the game but as many others was disappointed with the ending.
Something I'd like to mention:
1. You can only apply the item from the inventory to a single object, to apply it to another object you must select it again which is annoying
2. There are several objects that appear like they can be used for something (like, [spoiler]firewood and baggage in the hotel and the saw in the lighthouse[/spoiler], but as it turns out they can't be used for anything and are there just to distract the player. Is it deliberately misleading? Not a good decision IMO
3. There are other ways to spend the coins, but [spoiler]the motorcycle driver takes them all and you can't spend them anymore[/spoiler]. How was I to know that?

Pretty interesting game that I picked up for $9.99. Doesn't strive to do anything new other than build upon the point n click genre. The game ends on a fine note, albeit a tad rushed, and I didn't mind the ending unlike some of the negative reviews.

- Gorgeous animation.
- Solid voice acting.
- Map WITH fast travel. (Can't get one achievement if you use the fast travel though)
- Interesting story as well as interesting characters. Nicely done on the setting too!
- The puzzles are pretty logical especially for this type of game where they can get nonsensical quick (looking at your Deponia)
- Not too long and not too short.

- Sometimes the game won't let you continue until you've interreacted with the correct thing prior. EX: you can't use an item on a door that you already possess until you've activated a prior action/dialogue sequence even though you've already tried using the item on the door.

First the good...
Really like the art style. Music and voice acting were top notch. Story is also fairly decent. The combination makes for a game that feels like it is held up there with some of the great P&C games, like ones made by Double Fine. Has a very polished feel to it, and that made it enjoyable.

As far as gameplay, that's where it takes a little bit of a hit. It's mostly good, but I found some of the puzzles to be really vague and almost too nonsensical to figure out without a guide.. so I didn't like that, so much. But all in all, was still pretty enjoyable.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this game. I like the visual style and the voice acting, but it is impossible to complete without a walkthrough. The required actions are just too obscure and difficult to predict. So, you end up clicking on things as you constantly consult with an external source, which totally removes the fun.

This isn't a heavy "no". This may be a matter of taste, but I don't think Thomas Ligotti's (or more directly, "The Gods in Their Seats, Unblinking" by Kurt Fawver) ideas play very well with a Vincent Price veneer. Other than that, I found it mawkish, not particularly compelling, not particularly scary, not particularly paranoia-inducing, not particularly funny, and not particularly challenging. But it is pleasing to look at. There's something here— I loved the look, feel, and tone of the epilogue. Unfortunately, there wasn't much in the bulk of that jumped out and grabbed me. I don't regret playing it, but I think there is much this could have left up to the imagination and been much better for it.

I do recommend this game for it's great art, voice acting and interesting puzzles. Puzzles are more in line with Moneky Island's type of thinking, but overall found them good and never felt too stuck. Has an in game hint system that you can use if really get stuck.

I really like the story, expect I'm in two minds about the ending - at least it was an unexpected. I feel it's better than the endings of Thimbleweed Park/Return to Monkey Island (that some reviewers have compared this too), those are my least favourite endings of all adventure games.

Well.. I really like the art style and general visuals of the game. The VA is very good, too. The puzzles were okay most of the time and intuitive to solve, but that's where the positives end, IMO.

There is way too little BGM and SFX. Sometimes the game is completely silent and at first I thought it was a bug.

This game also does this thing, where you can only successfully interact with certain things once you've progressed to a specific point. So it can happen that you spend hours wandering around cluelessly because you know the solution already, but tried at the wrong time and if the game finally unlocks the interaction, you've already ruled out that option in your mind and are desperately trying to find another way.

Even though the voice acting is good, dialogue is not really a strong point of the game. The story, albeit starting with an interesting premise, quickly makes less and less sense and the ending is pretty bad. In fact, it's so bad that I couldn't even bring myself to play the epilogue and did Alt + F4 instead.

Most of the stuff I mentioned before is half as bad, tbh.. but the ending part really killed it for me. I'll just say this much: Anyone who didn't like the ending of Monkey Island or Thimbleweed Park won't like this one either.

It's not a terrible game.. but would I recommend it? No, not really.
