As soon as the game loads, Serena starts, without warning. There's no menu to greet you, no options or saves to fiddle with. And the instant its conclusion is finished, the game simply closes. This starkness, along with the Inspect Tool disappearing once the looping dialogue had finally exhausted itself at the end, were the most affecting parts of Serena.

Something about the classic adventure game line reading doesn't seem to work in the closed environment of the cabin. With no puzzles to solve and only dialogue to discover, it feels somehow empty.

Even that emptiness, in its own weird way, works to enhance the loneliness and hollowness of the protagonist's memories, which will be your sole companion through this hour-long experience.

Xyетa, которая растягивается на весь экран, из-за чего дальше книжного шкафа вы не пройдете, ибо буквально не сможете кликнуть в нужное место чтобы от него отойти. А всё почему? Потому что разраб обкyрeнный дeгенepaт. Нет ну серьезно, игра 14-го года, а он про существование разрешения 16:9 видимо забыл пока очередную дорожку снюхивал, вдобавок какого хера point & click игра от первого лица управляется мышкой? И мало того что здесь другие клавиши не задействованы, так еще и при нажатии ESC игра не ставится на паузу как это обычно бывает, а тупо закрывается без сохранения - тут даже настроек нет карл, напомню, - игра 14-го года.
Про заезженный сюжет и хоррор составляющую, которой тут на деле нет я вообще молчу, благо игра бесплатная и это видимо её единственный плюс, но было бы ещё лучше, если б этого позорища геймдева вообще на просторах стима не существовало. Искренне в axyе с тех, кто ещё и положительные обзоры к ней пишет...

I added this game to my library about 12 years ago, and I finally booted it up tonight. The atmosphere drew me in, and that's certainly the strongest element this game has. It was interesting to get new descriptions on the various objects - a practice I've always thought improves any adventure game. The music tracks that play at key points also help carry the mood for the 40-60 minutes that you're likely to play. The main downside is the voice acting... I hate to say it. I'm a fan of Pushing up Roses, so it was nice hearing her voice, but even though she had more life in her performance than that of the protagonist, it was unfortunately lacking the necessary emotion the role called for. In addition, some of the dialog really could have used another pass.

Despite these issues, I enjoyed my time with the game, and would recommend giving it an honest chance!

Скучноватый симулятор кликанья не понятно куда. За 5 минут игры ничего не заинтересовало, кроме дизайна самого домика и озвучки. Герой говорит очень медленно. Кроме того, есть риск закончить игру вообще за пятнадцать минут - если вы, устав от тягомотины происходящего, ринетесь к единственной интересной вещи после третьего боя часов, то игра тут же закончится. Так и не смог насладиться атмосферой, о которой все пишут. Курсор вообще живет своей жизнью, он вечно уходит в потолок или стороны. Из плюсов - короткая и бесплатная. На любителя, не рекомендую.

I also liked how you can't be quite certain if the male main-character suffers from schizophrenia, dementia or if he just slowly goes insane. Is it all real or just in his head like living in a personal hell? I like that the game leaves some of this open for interpretation more or less.

игра одурительная, мне очень понравилась
каюсь,играла с русификатором
но впечатления получила и от английской озвучки, она хороша ,взахлёб все проходится
вообще, игра на задуматься,оставляет классное послевкусие стекла, людям,которые недавно прошли через подобное или любят такую фигню - идеально подойдёт

The "use" marker remains in place even after listening to the character's monologue, leading to repeated listening to the same phrases in hopes of gaining new information. The character's voice acting is irritating, particularly his whining exclamations like "Oh, I hate her so much" or "Oh, these things drive me crazy." The subtitles, although present, are very pale and difficult to read against the background, blending in with the surroundings. If you haven't strained your eyesight in search of objects, you'll find yourself straining them while reading. For those who read quickly, this can be a challenge, considering the protagonist's slow speech. Additionally, there's a possibility of completing the game in just fifteen minutes if, tired of the monotony, you quickly find the only interesting object after three hours of gameplay. As a result, this game is not recommended.

Игра душная до предела, хождение и тыкание в одни и те же декорации, русская локализация, да вы правильно поняли, вы должны найти ее сами, передвижение это что-то с чем-то и нет ей это не простительно, ибо объективно она не древняя, вышла в 2014, интерактив, ну если это так можно сказать, его мало и он скучный, почему же вы видите этот отзыв положительным? ну правды ради игра бесплатная, небольшой сюжет который вы можете пройти, а можете и не пройти), но если вы хотели что то эдакое, то она подойдет чтобы ее залутать фастом и идти дальше.

Worst game ever! Dude talks so much without progressing the story or leaving that boring cabin where he just yaps about his basic relationship and he sounds like a depressed angsty teenager. !!ТОК ЭТО. Качайте русификатор, если с английским совсем беда. Нет, конечно если тыкать на все не понимая, то пройти игру до конца можно (тупо повествование истории). Но что бы погрузится в сюжет, смысл букв все же зашарить придется. История о том, как неженка хуежник и поэт оказался нарциссом, который жил только в мире творчества и романтики, а не в реальности. А когда реальность шарахнула его со всей силы по башке, то он не выдержал и натворил такого, что укоротило его жизнь (правда я концовку не вдуплила чет). Сюжет в какой то степени даже очевидный, но раскрывать его через опознавание всего вокруг довольно увлекательно.

Атмосферная, бесплатная и короткая хоррор игра с элементами Пойнт&Клик. Сделана давно, для своих лет графика вполне неплоха для инди игры. Можно поиграть, если не во что или хочется чего-то по этим жанрам

öncelikle oyun korku temalı sayılmaz ama onun dışında ingilizceniz iyi, hikaye ve merak temasını seven, eski tarz ve tıklamalı oyunları seviyorsanız 1-1.5 saatlik gayet güzel bir oyun kendisi. (her oynadığımda - yaşımın da ilerleyişiyle - oyunda hissettiğim, algıladığım şeyler değişti, farklı deneyimler yaşadım :D)

Прежде всего, хочу выразить огромное уважение разработчикам и всем причастным к этому проекту. Видно, что это труд, сделанный с душой, настоящая дань уважения жанру квестов. Атмосфера в этой игре действительно есть – она гнетущая, тревожная, пропитанная ожиданием и тоской.

Звук и визуальный ряд работают сообща, чтобы погрузить вас в старую, заброшенную хижину, заставляя чувствовать ту самую пугающую неизвестность. Это как оказаться внутри короткой поэтической зарисовки.

Но, к сожалению, вся эта глубокая атмосфера буксует на месте, потому что геймплея здесь практически нет.

По сути, это бесконечное кликание на подсвеченные точки. Вы кликаете на стул. Вы кликаете на камин. Вы кликаете на безделушку на полке. Персонаж произносит какую-то философскую или ностальгическую фразу. Вы кликаете на следующую точку.

Ни головоломок, ни инвентаря, ни настоящей интерактивности. Вы – просто пассивный зритель в интерактивной сценке, который должен выполнять роль переключателя для следующей реплики. Через какое-то время это действие становится монотонным и, откровенно говоря, скучным.

Serena – это скорее интерактивная новелла или арт-хаусный эксперимент, а не классический квест.

Рекомендую только самым ярым фанатам атмосферных визуальных новелл, готовым простить полное отсутствие геймплея ради 30-40 минут специфического настроения.

O jogo inteiro é você clicando nos moveis do quarto enquanto o protagonista fica comentando. Poderia ser legal se não fosse maçante, até para os pacientes.

O plot até que é interessante, já que você fica indagado para entender o que tá rolando, mas não compensa o tempo investido. No fim, até surpreende, mas é bem cafona.

Faz tempo que joguei, mas para quem quer salvar seu tempo, é mais ou menos isso: [spoiler] É sobre um marido lembrando da esposa, a Serena, e como sente saudade dela e a vê nos cômodos do quarto com uma visão idealizada. Depois de um tempo a narração fica agressiva e sai de idealização para raiva, o que é provavelmente o ponto forte do jogo, já que essa transição é muito bem feita. Ele abre o armário e vê um corpo morto, o que é bem previsível porque na primeira olhada no quarto o jogo não deixava você abri-lo, então já indicava que tinha algo sinistro lá dentro. A partir daqui você teoriza que o protagonista tem demência ou alguma outra condição, mas aí surge a voz da Serena de fundo com um dialogo e a casa pega fogo. No fim, fica subentendido que o corpo era seu. Serena armou matar o marido abusivo em um incêndio e fugir com o amante com o dinheiro que vocês tinham. O jogo é uma espécie de purgatório de reviver memórias, algo bem Lost das ideias. [/spoiler] Para mais detalhes procura na discussão do jogo na Steam.

Como eu disse, é até interessante, mas não compensa investir o tempo pela forma que o jogo é construída.

Dito isso, de algum modo a experiência é bem única e memorável, seja para o bem ou mal, então há um valor no jogo sim. Só não acho que a maioria das pessoas vai gostar da forma como a história é contada ou da própria história, como eu.

Serena is a very odd, little dark drama.
For while you're stuck in this cramped cabin, with your interactions thus initially appearing rather limited, the protagonist's notes do gradually alter as you progress to reflect his current emotions and knowledge. So while nothing in the cabin really alters throughout the game, the protagonist's psyche does drastically.
I think that's a cute, neat little choice.
Yet I do not have much to comment on the story itself, beyond that it simultanosuly felt somewhat bland and awkward. Though still perfectly apt overall.

I felt completely absorbed in the comfortable yet creepy atmosphere found in the cabin.
The visuals just feel so enchanting and haunting. I loved it!
And the very subtle music in the background, of which really blends into the atmosphere seamlessly, contribute to the vibes a lot.

I have no strong stances towards this very compact game in either direction. But if you have an hour to spare, and want to soak in some lovely vibes, then I'd say it's worth checking out Serena, especially since it's free,

ive played way better point and click games then this one. i only played it to be able to review it to say the following.

settings would be a good add on for this. i should not have to go into the files and change things simply to go from fullscreen. especially seeing other comments saying this is something that they had to deal with as well when getting stuck in the game.

this also made it so i couldnt stream it, even alt tab wouldnt work for me while playing.
