Para los que dudan en comprarlo pensando que no van a encontrar con quién jugar o que los van a bardear por no saber las mecánicas. Nada que ver, acá hay gente jugando seguido y la buena onda es increíble.
Cero toxicidad. Si recién arrancás, siempre hay alguien dispuesto a tenerte paciencia y enseñarte a moverte por el mapa. Es un juego que depende 100% de usar el micrófono y laburar en equipo, y la comunidad sudamericana lo hace súper divertido y llevadero. No le tengan miedo a la curva de aprendizaje, anímense que siempre hay lugar para uno más en el server para pasar el rato.

Don't bother with this game. The people who play it are god awful. Look for the review by Opti from December 2025-ish. It's full of sick weirdo scumbags (and scammers) and is just not a good one to pick up. If you asked me 10 years ago, I'd still think this game is the ish. But now it's a waste of energy.

What sets Natural Selection apart from most multiplayer shooters is its bold blend of FPS and RTS mechanics. One player commands from above, managing resources and structures, while the rest fight on the ground in first-person combat. It’s a genre hybrid that very few games have attempted — and even fewer have executed successfully.
Natural Selection 2 tweaks and modernizes many aspects of the original formula. The visuals are sharper, the mechanics feel tighter, and the pacing is more polished. Yet it never abandons the asymmetric design that makes it special: Marines relying on technology and coordination versus Aliens evolving into increasingly powerful lifeforms.
Matches can feel incredibly dynamic. Early-game skirmishes transition into high-stakes mid-game pushes, and if both teams are competent, late-game clashes become tense and strategic. Communication and teamwork aren’t optional — they’re essential.
That said, the learning curve can be steep. Understanding the economy, tech paths, and commander role takes time. It’s not a casual jump-in-and-dominate experience. But for players willing to invest that time, the payoff is rewarding.
Natural Selection 2 stands out because it dares to blend genres in a way most developers avoid. It’s not just a shooter, and it’s not just a strategy game — it’s both.

This game started as a mod for half life 1 as Natural Selection 1, and grew into this very robust standalone that can be quite the engaging fusion of RTS and FPS in a very team oriented experience with a lot of diverse strategies and unique ways to play between the marines and the aliens.
Despite the glowing endorsement however, I must also say that this game is an artifact now, not an active experience. If you ever want to actually play it as intended, you need to find a community elsewhere planning on diving into it together, hosting a closed private server, because there is no consistent active quality control or moderation invested in this title anymore.
What it is however, is a landmark in the beautiful progression of refinement and development that eventually lead to subnautica, and if you watch the history of the developers influence from their inspiration from xen in half life into the concepts that formed natural selection, the path you can trace is a fascinating one. That is not really relevant to this game specifically however.
What IS relevant, is that if the developers made this title free to play, and designated someone to go around and get different twitch streamers to host community nights of the game, and included a system of premium cosmetics to still earn some side income to keep the process an even break, then it could see a resurgence of engagement that could be a fun little burst of celebration of a classic series many people don't truly know the depths of how influential it's development was on so many fronts.
This could be done in tandem with the announcement of the development of a potential future game:

the idea is to tie in a squad based repeatable scenario multiplayer focused (with single player + bots capacity) where a specialized (and highly customizable) squad of elite mercenaries is sent to various locations throughout the galaxy to deal with hostile alien problems.
This could also be tied into the subnautica universe to draw in the much larger crowd familiar with the subnautica games, and also give nods to the history of influence throughout unknown worlds development over the many years.
I have a LOT more i could say on the concept in great detail privately to the developers if interested, but the general formula would be:
squads of 1 - 6 players in PvE experiences (with unfilled slots occupied by support robots, not human avi's) where they are dropped into an area to quell various out of control local invasive alien life forms
I have an excessive amount of environments and scenarios in specific, but the core appeal is the ability to customize your mercenary while also being able to que for public lobbies or make pre-mades with friends, while also having a decent capacity to go it alone with a squad of all robots if you really wanted too.
Completed missions would result in payouts, and these payouts can be used to buy better equipment that makes excursions more likely to succeed for the cost of investment and potential loss of the equipment if not taken back aboard the players ship
The "highest difficulty" missions will include "evolved hostiles" as a modifier, meaning that after the first few minutes of the start of a higher reward higher difficulty mission, players can solo que into the "invasive species" que or whatever you wanna call it, and join ongoing hard mode missions stealthily as evolved hunters.
This gives something for the "way too good at video games" crowd who don't play cooperatively with others something to do, while also making the high payout high risk missions actually terrifying and dangerous because at any point until completion they could encounter human played highly dangerous and crafty hostile entities.
There are supporting systems to incentivize those ques as well I have in mind and a whole bunch of active limited time alerts, and live events and blah blah blah along with a Natural Selection 3 segway etc etc
Look i'm just lousy with ideas and ways to make it all happen bit by bit, budget by budget, quarter by quarter, just DM me for my endless stream of gold, I live in an eternal vortex of clear ideas and paths and nowhere to direct it, I'm going insane not having an outlet for even one percent of my capacity and potential and my cursed frail human body is so exceptionally incapable of doing anything beyond writing and talking, please someone save me from this prison of inaction and mundanity.
Ahem, anywho, Natural Selection 2, be an alien and crawl through vents and evolve with resources, or be a marine and stand around terrified, waiting for some invisible monster to bite your head off, while getting paid i imagine is like.. $5.00 an hour or something, wishing you had scored higher on the federation navy exams. Or you can try being a commander, and get blamed entirely for every small problem or shortcoming while your desperately trying to recall how RTS's function since it's been a decade or more since you played starcraft that one weekend.
Honestly thoe, the wild stories this game tells each time you play and the sheer chaos of it all when you actually have a populated server and nobody is cheating or some sort of super soldier god gamer who is three full teams on their own, can be really really memorable just as it exists now. You just need to do some work to put together a planned group to play it since, the likelyhood of finding a populated server without bots is minimal, and even more minimal that the quality will be worth the effort if you do.

It's not as dead as you think.
Keep in mind, NS2 is generally a 10v10 game, with an "extra large" mode of 15v15 (crazy, i know). so even to this day you still have 2-4 servers at all times that are populated. And even if you join a 10-player server, this is game is back from an era when multiplayer games were FUTURE PROOFED, so you have bots to fill in the few extra slots.
The aliens feel like a mix of Aliens Xenomorphs and Starcraft Zerg and have the iconic original AvP wall crawl, but the camera doesn't shift like in that so it kind of feels like you are walking with noclip (wall hack cheat from half life 1), and honestly feel a bit clunky to play, but that might just be me sucking at them. There are plenty of players that seem to be good with them, given the number of times i lost to them.
The game also has a commander role, which is something. There are tutorials for all of these roles (marine commander/soldier, alien commander/soldier) and frankly its not that difficult thanks to the map being relatively small.
overall still recommend it if you are curious. i won't say i enjoy playing the aliens, but i love playing the marines.

what stops me from casually playing is the premium queue system where you have to manually refresh til that empties then you can join normal queue

For the low low price of 5 bucks, you get an extremely unique asymmetrical shooter with 3 main ways to play: Boots-on-the-ground Shoot & Be Loud Marine, Stealthy creature-of-the-dark Alien, and the people playing an RTS guiding the other two playstyles. Sure, it's a touch difficult to get into (most of the people playing have BEEN playing), but once you get into it.. it's an enjoyable game! Community is friendly, the graphics are dated but hold up, and it's technically in the same universe as Subnautica!
Good fun in a cool setting.

This game has been slowly losing players over the years and it's because the players are extremely toxic. The super serious ranking system should be removed and so should conceding a game. I have seen time after time where this community pushes out new players with just straight slurs, they judge every little decision you make, they belittle anyone who doesn't do exactly what is being told, it is horrible.
I am really surprised the devs didn't remove voice chat and probably text chat and just make a better ping / voice emote system because people don't communicate anything useful anyways and just slander eachother. This is such a fun game but MAN! these players just ruin any fun with how serious they take every little thing. The game could have a casual ranking system like TF2 but honestly this game can't handle a serious ranking system because people turn feral.
I love the game, I really do... but this is just not fun, imagine playing a board game or cards and the second someone starts to lose they flip the table and start cursing at you, that is what this community is. Even with only... 120 players MAX they still treat people like crap? You would think they would try and preserve new players and grow the community but man oh man.
Maybe wait for AI to progress and then enjoy this one with AI instead.

Безусловно хорошая игра, просто прекрасная по задумке особенно прекрасно количество построек за командира гениальная игра но вот игра за обычную пехоту хрень полная, я не знаю кто делал это управление но для шутера это бред полный какие то медленные движение просто неудобный интерфейс и БОТЫ я знаю что есть два типа ботов тупые и кибер терминаторы уничтожители галактик так вот в этой игре они вторые ведь хрень его знает но двигаются они так как будто угашенные в край по ним невозможно попасть и я сейчас конкретно про этих мелких сталкеров или как их там вот список их способностей кстати: Ваншотают определённо, двигаются как боги, хп такое что придётся всю обойму обычной винтовки высадить чтобы убить, и почему то со всеми этими баффами они ещё и невидимыми имеют право становится (Это они под управлением игрока а если они боты то умножайте все параметры на два кроме хп) и причём им с их скоростью ещё и облегчили путь через долбанную вентиляцию из за которой порой в обороне нет смысла когда они могут просто пробраться в тыл. Насчёт оружия по ощущениям всё оно бесполезно кроме той самой базовой винтовки потому что дробовик - наносит 0 урона долгая перезарядка; гранатомёт - Бесполезен против всего что не стоит на месте ибо задержка во взрыве колосальная год пройдет а прямо попасть нереально из за такой же медлиности как и у дробовика. Сварочный аппарат или чинилка угроблены тем что за чем то занимают слот топора (который кстати бесполезен в 99% случаев из за ОЧЕНЬ ОЧЕНЬ И ОЧЕНЬ долгой анимации доставание как и у пистолета что не даёт и малейшего шанса выжить если закончатся патроны к основному оружию во время боя) и хотя она даёт возможность чинить постройки я не знаю почему нельзя было переместить эту функцию на о боже букву е (кнопка постройки) из за чего ты опять же уязвим. Хп у противников будто бесконечное они просто губки для свинца процентов 50% их юнитов вообще похрен на целую выпущенную обойму а то и на вторую

Good game, it’s a shame I don’t speak English well enough to be a commander, but even so it’s a good game. Basically, it’s an RTS where each unit is a player, and the one who gives orders and builds things is also a player, and he can occasionally go out and support in FPS mode like anyone else.

[b]As of this year, a new CEO has taken over at the behest of the publisher. That would be good if it wasn't Krafton. They destroyed Kerbal Space Program and a few other noteworthy projects. It's safe to say Unknown Worlds Entertainment is a dead company and its products should be ignored.[/b]
This is a good game with an extremely toxic, out of touch community that drove away most of the playerbase.
Unfortunately, that attitude does extend to the developers, who fell into the, "Video Games make you Violent," crowd and decided they are never going to make a sequel to or properly flesh out this game.
This flawed thought process managed to impact their flagship series, Subnautica as well, with Below Zero being dumbed down and devoid of real character. Subnautica 2 is also showing signs that they haven't fired the people destroying their company yet.
To make matters worse, the bot support in this game is virtually non-existent. What is there is balanced toward the Aliens, so bot matches will only last around five minutes with the same outcome every time.
So, should you buy it? If you want to have a horrible experience where your two choices are getting annihilated by people who consider this game a second form of employment or get accused of smurfing and barred from the one existing noob friendly server, then sure.
This game didn't fail, it was sunk on purpose by a studio who's politics got too influential in their decision making. There won't be a NS3, the best you can hope for is some of the old devs to get together and make a spiritual successor of some kind.
Natural Selection is still available as a free mod for Half-Life.
Tremulous and Unvanquished are free to play titles based on the gameplay style of the original Natural Selection that include proper bot support.
Silica is humans vs aliens vs humans and expands on the concept by having it be a full RTS where players are units on the field and can drive vehicles or perform various tasks at the behest of the commander. It includes full PVP and PVE.
Executive Assault 2 is another example. Although you'll be spending more time shooting robots than alien bugs.

Game has almost the same sort of look as the first but it's not quite the same feel. There's hundreds of servers but only 4 are populated. Matchmaking takes hours to pair due to the lack of players. I'd love the game if they put some more effort into promoting the ranking system and maybe add more than 1 singular game mode and 2 minigames.

The game concept is incredible and its a damn shame it didnt pick up when the devs still supported it. Writeing this as of 24.10.2025 i have to say that theres like 2 community servers left that still actively play populated by the most dedicated fans of the game imagineable. Unfortunately that means that 1. if youre trying to learn either playing or commanding youll face league of legends levels of abuse and 2. youll get crushed in game by people who have thousands of hours more experiance than you do. My recommendation is to let the game die with dignity and hope for a worthy successor.
game play is very solid, both sides feel very fun to play. had some very helpful vets and not so helpful vets. truly wish it had more players, especially new players to help revive the game. for only $5 it was really worth it!
Nothing like it, people still lining up to play over 12 years after release. It has a tough learning curve but the situations and team play experience when everything clicks is something other games can only dream to achieve. Fair warning, after 100 hours I thought "I know the basics", after 1,000 hours I was confident enough to say I was a good player. Learning is part of the fun, if somebody is getting on your nerves just mute them and play on.
NS1 remains one of my all-time favorites. NS2, however... well... I think it took too long to release and as a result, never really took off.

- 애초에 카라(에이리언) 제대로 사용 하려면 bhop 이라는 어려운 기술(알려주는 데도 없고 즈그들 끼리만 사용) 연마, 연습 해야 함
- 일일 동접 최대 50~60명 고이고 고이고 고인 썩은 물들만 있으면 얘들이 신규, 또는 하수들 그냥 잡아먹는 놀이터임
- 난이도가 너무 높아 배울데도 없고 그만한 가치도 없음
- 사실 무료로 풀어도 할까 말까한 게임
- 일단 bhop 이나 캐릭터 사용 난이도를 줄여야 뭐가 될 듯
- 고인물에 썩은물 들만 하는 게임이고 어려운 기술 즈그들끼리만 주고 받으니 누가 사냐고 그러니까 당연히 망할 수 밖에
- 게임성이 좋다 뭐다 해도 망한데는 다 이유가 있고 안할만 하니까 사람들이 갖다가 버린거임...
사지 마세요 사는 순간 서버에 들어가서 썩은물들의 장난감, 노리개가 될 뿐이고 기술도 안알려주고 배울 가치도 없는 게임 임다.

Even though this game is old, the age really doesn't show all that much. Very fun game, very worth the price. Playerbase is (firstly, existent) dedicated and there is always at least 1 server you can hop into, and on weekends there are quite a few servers. Bots are very good in this game, and there have been some highly dedicated members of the NS2 community that have kept this game not only alive, but kept improving it - even though it is done through non-official updates.
9/11 Would buy again
Simply cause of the fact every lobby is full of people with thousands of hours makes it unplayable for new players. And the tutorial is absolutely useless, doesn't teach you anything at all.
Awesome concept but got abandoned and therefore fell off completely sadly.

Was good when it wasn't dead. Very fun gameplay loop and interesting mechanics but unfortunately barely anyone plays anymore and those who do are strict about using their servers.

The limited players remaining in this game all have thousands of hours. It is unplayable for new players. Even the "noob friendly" servers are full of people bhopping like it's a CS surf lobby. Even ran into someone with an aimbot within 3 games.

Been playing the game for a long time over the years. It was a fun game for a time, but that time has passed.
I wouldn't recommend purchasing it now, it's pretty much dead. Wish Unknown Worlds would just make it free to play since
they abandoned the franchise.
Wish I could give it a neutral review since back then it was great. But from the perspective of a new buyer AVOID.

after 9 hours of people being very toxic in voice chat i got banned from someone named handschuh for unknown reason.
very weird experience for short time amount of time.
i get why there arent much ppl left playing this game.
