First of all I need to make clear, that the whole 13 hours in this game I didn't only spend with the basic game: most of the time I did make own characters here (Darkwing Duck for example).
I can highly recommend this little masterpiece here to every real retro-fan! The creator of this game itself seems to be obviously in love with retro-works! It reminds me graphic-wise of those old gaming computers (MSX?) and because of those simple pixel-looks it's really easy to paint there your own characters. You should better avoid black colors though, because most of the backgrounds in this game are pretty dark, the main one even pitch-black with some blue patterns.
Something you will find in the main game is the necessarity to find and/or buy objects for reaching other areas (like you maybe remember from the earlier Zelda games).
Best thing is: you are even able to make your own levels thanks to the editor! So even after completing this game I'm happy to try out the level-creations in this workshop-community.
Which leads me unfortunately to a minus-point of this fun game-experience: the preview option in the workshop doesn't work anymore and the developer of this game doesn't feel like fixing that issue since a longer while. Another minus point I will add for a related issue: you aren't able to update your workshop-character neither. If you really need to do it, then duplicate it, delete the previous one from the workshop and your own game, edit/fix the duplicate and offer the fixed duplicate instead.
The biggest minus point is, that not all workshop maps (extra levels/games) are working. If you try to start some of them, nothing happens simply.
And damn, defeating the final boss was so hard for me, I highly doubt I will be able to get the other remaining achievements in this game!
So yes, I can recommend it to anyone, who loves classic computer games, who loves to be creative, or maybe even to youngsters who would love to do some "gaming time-travel". And a cheap price like 2 bucks is more than worth it if you ask me!
Short and simple metroidvania. You can finish it in about 2 hours and it's only 2 bucks. Really not a lot to say about it.

This is a soft recommend. It’s an NES-style game in the vein of old-school Metroid, with similar difficulty but far less obtuse, aside from one or two secrets. It should take around 3–5 hours to 100%, and it has a manageable map for a Metroidvania (or “microvania”).

Чтобы найти все апгрейды - надо разбить каждый ящик в игре, а во многих ящиках ничего и нет.
Апгрейды не открывают доступ к новым областям, но усиливают персонажа.
Понравился дизайн комнат и в целом простая структура карты - вот тебе общая зона, вот 4 зоны с боссами. Убьешь их всех - пройдешь игру.
Не понравилось отсутствие интересных секреток. Есть две секретки и они неинтересные.
Классные враги с разными паттернами поведения, приятно разгадывать их и контрить.
Скучная музыка, но саунд дизайн адекватный, всё на месте.
Приятная ретро-графика.
На большую игру она и не претендует, а как мини игра - она хороша - и графикой, и геймплеем. Рекомендую эту игру и другие игры этого разработчика. Все по делу, не затянуто, мотивированно.
It's a Metroidvania, with retro graphics and sound, tight controls, nice gradual progression, and that's before even mentioning the extra stuff that I haven't look at (designing your own sprites and levels, multiplayer etc). For such a low price it's definitely recommended to anyone who likes this kind of game. I finished it in 2-3 hours but I have no complaints.
Fun retro-styled metroidvania. If you've played the game that this is based off of, you'll most likely enjoy this one as well. If you've never played it, you can very much still enjoy this game, too.
Fran puts out some great games. Mini Ghost is no exception to this. If you want a simple MSX style metriodvania...here you go.
But there is something that needs to be mentioned: the game seems to be buggy. XP does nothing at the start. I read that it either gives or heals 1 HP. It did neither for me, until I got the leaf.
Thankfully the leaf shows up before things start to ramp up...but that is still an issue that should be addressed. Usually bugs like this cause me to thumbs down, but there is still good enough in this one to get around it.
Oh and it is $2.
As a massive fan of Ghost 1.0 i was excited to jump into an 8bit version of that game, BUT i have to admit i hatebeat this game! I basically was stubborn and forced myself to finish the game, out of sheer dumbness. Im an 80s kid, and i still play alot of retro games constantly, and i love Metroidvanias. However the difficulty of this game was akin to the NES era. For the price its fair i guess, but the difficulty is not based off combat, its based of the unfairness of the game design. Blind jumps, your weapon is LIMITED in range, even with the extender, and you can only shoot left to right, while enemys can shoot in all directions and through obstacles that block your bullets, and worse part is the DREADED backtracking to find ONE particular item that you need or you cant fight the final boss. I cant recommend this game unless you really want that archaic style of gameplay. This is my second worse game of the year so far that i finished, its not a game that i will revisit, and like a said huge fan of Ghost 1.0, and waiting in my backlog is UnEpic, but this game is a no.

Fun MSX tribute, think a straightforward La-Mulana with a very simplified lite Metroidvania progression.
I'm hoping the dev's later Maze of Galious tribute (Pampas & Selene: The Maze of Demons) incorporates puzzles, more secrets, a larger and more complex map, and more of a sense of progression as you go. For $2, this mini-sized MSX game is pretty fun though!

这游戏玩起来过于折磨，攒钱难而且后期一直重复刷怪攒钱买道具很无聊。回血必须回家，一点回血药品都没有，玩到现在只获得了一个升级时回两点血的道具，打怪升级的速度就像是在便秘。
地图大还没有传送，最恶心的是堆怪，妈的几个不同类型的小怪互相配合，在你因探索残血时一套默契的组合技直接把玩家送走，而且地图的怪刷新还很快，打完回家回血再跑回来时你就会发现那些小怪全部刷新。

Un juego bastante sencillo y entretenido, para pasar un buen rato. Tiene toda esa esencia de los microordenadores de la epoca, se nota muchisimo que Fran lo hizo pensando en el MSX. Un buen juego que si te gustan los juegos clasicos te encantara.

Classic metroidvania goodness, the gameplay is very simple, but very fun as well. Because of my dumbness i may have complicated the game for myself a little bit ( i always destroy those healing robot, didn't realize they can heal you until very late in the game), A good and short game for anyone looking for some MSX or NES gameplay.
Once you realize you have to save scum constantly it's actually a really fun game. Reminds me of newgrounds 2004ish

Un metroidvania perfecto para principiantes. Es corto, pero tiene de todo. Buen juego en general, aunque tiene cositas que se podrían cambiar. Una buena cantidad de objetos, secretos y más cosas interesantes.
El aspecto del juego es estilo MSX, además el juego viene del "Ghost", juego hecho por la misma persona para MSX precisamente.
Una peculiaridad muy interesante y curiosa del juego, es que si otro amigo tiene el juego, puede entrar en tu partida y fastidiarte de diversas maneras.

I remember when this was released for the MSX computer. I do own a working MSX computer, but 25 euros + shipping was too expensive for me.
So now I finally bought the Steam version. And after I first booted it, I didn't stop playing it up until I got all items and finished the game.
I don't know if this made first for the MSX, or both versions were made at the same time, nor how much they are close to each other (I'd willing to bet the MSX version doesn't have the saving/load from this version, being able only to save at the first screen or something like that), but it's obvious the game was designed to work around the MSX limitations. As an MSX game, this is *insanely* good (Even on this Steam version I can see how the 4 sprites per scanline limitation was so well avoided here). It does have the feeling of an MSX game and it draws inspiration from some of its classics (mostly obvious "The Maze of Galious" and "The Goonies")
It's a Metroidvania with flip screen instead of scrolling, which allows for some really interesting room designs. Controls are tight, level and enemy design is brilliant (No, for real, it's brilliant), the way the map is designed is great. Also not having so many conventions of this type of game (Ya know... double jumps, wall jumps), but instead having simple but tight controls made it feel..... fresh. And it's a lot fun to play.
The game is insanely polished (even more considering the price range), menus, presentation, options.... the author really knew what he was doing here, there's zero janky here which I found really, REALLY amazing.
If I had something to complain about the game....
At some points you need to keep moving to "respawn" enemies so you can get enough cubes to buy items, which is kinda annoying and boring, but it's something expected from this type of game (Remember doing this a lot in the Metroid games to recover items).
Using a controller with Turbo will break the game, making it even easier... but you can just not use it :D
The bosses are really easy if you get to them with all possible items (Again, something not that uncommon on this type of game) - about that, I saw some people complaining about the third boss and, honestly, git gud. It needs skills to get the no hit achievement on it (I didn't), but it's the easiest boss in the game. Alas, except by the last one (Which, again, will be *really* easy if you use a controller with turbo), they are all pretty easy to kill.
The Load/Save option make the game *really* easy (of course, you can refrain to use it, and there are achievements for it). Since very early you'll get the item to get back to first room which is very close to a room where you can recover all your health, if you have the patience you will never die.
But overall, this is an awesome game. And you can even download new maps or create your own, which gives you a lot of content..... for, damn it, such a LOW PRICE. Just the main game is worth it. It's a very short game, but it's a great one, and now I want to play all the other games from the same dev. (Shame he never made another MSX game AFAIK, but it's understandable :D)

Great little game! Short but sweet, and very affordable. It was originally a 32kb cartridge game for the MSX computers that Unepic_Fran released in 2017. The Steam version expands and updates the original game a little bit, while also adding great character, level and tileset editors. You can upload to and download stuff from the Steam Workshop. Highly recommended.
I absolutely LOVE how you're able to customize the tileset, character sprites, and are even able to make your own open world maps in this game! I'd really love to see you do more stuff like this. I hope you implement this INSANE amount of customization into Pampas & Selene: The Maze of Demons.

This is a fun little metroidvania in a very retro style. There's not much that'll blow your mind, but it's fun and challenging. In addition, there's plenty of mods available in the Steam Workshop if you want to play as a different character. The bosses are pretty brutal, though...
You move pretty slowly, its pretty simple, and dying to run back without being able to teleport is annoying. Straight up levels might have suited the game better.
一款复古风格的2D银河城小品游戏。
画面和音乐音效都是上世纪90年代的风格。
游戏地图和流程设计方面没有学到当年老游戏的精髓，前期因为主角性能很差除了去医院也没有什么回血手段所以难度比较高，然后中期大多数时候都是在努力攒钱买空商店，这段刷刷刷的时间能占到游戏总时长的将近一半。后期直到最后boss，主角性能拉满，增加难度全靠各种坑人的平台。
如果你是硬核银河城玩家并且有怀旧需求或者其他同类游戏都玩差不多了的话，这个小品游戏的时长/价格比绝对不亏，对大部分一般玩家而言属于可玩可不玩那一类。

Existe un tipo de dificultad justa y un tipo de dificultad injusta. Este juego apuesta por la dificultad injusta.
Cosas buenas:

Bugs: la ventana se minimiza, el juego se silencia, me sacó tropecientos screenshots sin pulsar F12
El rango de los disparos es demasiado corto.
Enemigos que atraviesan muros.
Enemigos sorpresa que fuerzan el prueba y error, y memorizar los mapas.
Enemigos que disparan a frecuencias demasiado altas.
Sólo te puedes curar en dos lugares. La curación propia es irrisoria (un punto de vida cada veintipico enemigos).
Las cajas de objetos especiales no se diferencian de las cajas normales.
Saltos fallidos que te hacen retroceder seis pantallas.
El segundo jefe tiene la escalera muy lejos, te tienes que poner al borde.
Tercer jefe con patrones de movimiento aleatorios.
Jefe final con dificultad basada en no dejarte moverte, ni disparar.
Es más de acción que metroidvania.

Can't really recommend this one. It's fun for a bit, but as you progress, the boss design goes from serviceable to bad to abysmal. Additionally, there's a lot of tedium. There's no reasonable way to heal, for one. You heal a single unit of health every time you fill up your XP bar, which takes ages, otherwise, the only way to heal is to die, which also causes you to lose all of your money. Money which you need an awful lot of if you're wanting to buy all the items in the game. Money you're going to have to grind for to get enough.
Maybe if you've got far more patience than I do and can tolerate the terrible boss design, you might find this to be worth a look, but I would still wait for a sale in that case, even with the low base price.
This adorable little game is a retro gem for the full retail price of $2. This miniture Metroidvania feels like a crude old school arcade game at first glance, but as you figure out it's mechanics (especially the save system) it transforms into something much more interesting than that. As most reviews mention, the game is very short and wont outsay it's welcome. I abused the save system to stay at mostly fullish health most of the game and I still finished in well under 4 hours. That said, it drew me back for a few quick play sessions and I was a bit sad when it was over as I was ready for a few more levels. I did run into a few rough edges in my playthrew, the ladder platforms are very touchy to navigate and there are several points in the game where you have to be on exactly this or that run with a million bullets flying at you. Although the contoles are good overall, they are no where near sharp enough for this kind of pixel perfect nit picky micro jumping. Second there were the boss battles are VERY long and challenging without the correct secondary weapon chosen beforehand, but with the correct one they only take seconds. Neither felt good to me, especially with the janky ladder mechanic featured in several of them. That said, I still really liked Mini Ghost, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a short retro or MetroidVania game.
This is a simple, fun little retro metroidvania game. It's fairly short, but it's entertaining, and it ran without issues for me. It has a surprising amount of customizability as well, with the ability to change the character sprite and level tilesets. There's also a level editor and workshop support, so there's potential for replayability as well. Given the very low price, I'd say this game is definitely worth it for anyone who's interested in a short, but sweet little classic metroidvania game.
There's a lot of good stuff in this game. Has this pleasant, chunky feeling that's common among games its trying to emulate; nice controls, pleasant look, simplicity done right. But it also emulated another element which perhaps it shouldn't have:
It's too freaking hard!
And it's the annoying kind of difficulty, too. The game starts out very easy, and then quickly climbs up to the point where I had to save-load every screen. And then there are the bosses which not only take quite a while to beat, they also have this design that punishes you for trying to speed things up.
The first boss, for example, every now and then switches into this attack mode in which the only way to avoid damage is to stay very far away, because only far away are platforms that allow you to jump over its laser. But your gun has limited range. So on one hand you feel like you want to get close to deal damage, and on the other you know that if you get too greedy you're going to get pwned by the laz0r.
If you're too young to know what "pwned" means, you'll probably find this game too much of a bother. It's a very faithful recreation of that classic game design - perhaps too faithful. If you actually think that it's good that these older games were this hard, then please, by all means, play it - lots of people seem to enjoy Mini Ghost in spite of that, which suggests to me it might actually be part of the charm.
I'd like to say I'm too old for this crap, but according to the trailer I'm still a child (I absolutely love the trailer btw), so... I'll throw a... temper tantrum or something? Is that what kids do?

mini ghost é um jogo ótimo e ainda é muuuito barato, ele tem uma arte bonita e inspirada no msx , um level design interessante e um tempo de jogo muito bom pro seu preço e várias coisinhas legais pra se descobrir. pouquíssimas coisas me incomodaram enquanto eu tava jogando, no máximo um grind chato ali, músicas meio chatinhas aqui e etc, mas esses problemas não afetam o jogo de verdade ainda mais pela sua duração curta, então pode ir sem medo

Está dentro del género metroidvania como su hermana mayor, pero se remueve el sistema de RPG. Sus gráficos y sonidos están perfectamente en tono, aunque se echa enormemente en falta el humor tan característico de este desarrollador. Se juega perfectamente con el gamepad y posee una duración aproximada de 3 hs. Sacar sus logros puede llevar algo más de tiempo y ni hablar si se decide bajar mapas del workshop, fácilmente doblan o triplican la duración del juego. Se puede conseguir a 50% off, aunque está regalado en su precio completo.

Mostly my minor issues are just design/flavor choices so, meh, no worries.
My biggest complaint is the final boss refers to an item it needs which I thought meant subweapon type and I spent some time finding missiles or lasers to shoot to no avail. It is of course basically just a key you gotta find on the map. In a fairly discrete place too.

tidy short-form metroidvania with some rough edges that could hinder accessibility for some. in particular there are a few difficulty spikes, esp at bosses and last boss. but on the whole i'd excuse the issues given the short length and the emulator-like save/load state function which, if you use it 'only as needed' is a pretty good accessibility aid aside from the bosses (which you have to complete in one go). for the final boss, grinding all the health-ups also probably makes it easy enough, and there are even some ways to speed that grind (there is a cube farm room with 12+ cubes i think, but not sure how to reliably loop/reset it), but i kinda wish there was some little additional accessibility feature there somehow, maybe getting bonus cubes for failed final boss attempts or something. but for the price, if you want something simple/short. for a final nit-pick, i'd have like a bit more hinting on the 2 secret items, and maybe markers for the progress gates, although depending on how you tilt your head, remembering those things and/or figuring them out with backtracking as needed is certainly genre-appropriate ...

A tiny metroidvania with some issues here and there (no jump buffering and being a bit too grindy when going for 100% completion are the first ones that come to mind), but completely acceptable nonetheless given the price tag. Fun soundtrack nicely complements the satisfying gameplay, and there are a few decently challenging achievements to boot.

Игра зашла на все сто. Это экшен-платформинг, с элементом метроидвании. Вернее даже будет сказать, что это классическая метроидвания. У вас имеется обширная карта, в центре которой вы начинаете свою игру. Поделена она на разные секции, доступ к которым перекрывают двери разного цвета, к которым нужно найти соответствующий ключ. Исследуете одну секцию, истребляя по пути разнообразных противников, добираетесь до босса и сражаетесь с ним. Победа над ним и зачистка локации награждаются ключом от другой секции и новой способностью вашего персонажа.
Все боссы уникальны и к каждому нужно иметь подход.
Сама игра короткая, но первое прохождение быстро вам не дастся, так как в игре хватает бэкграунда. Сначала изучаете карту, запоминаете где находятся магазины и лазарет. А по мере продвижения собираете с убиенных врагов ресурсы, на которые в магазинах прокачиваете своего призрака (скорость стрельбы, её кучность, более высокий прыжок и т.д.). Жизнь в игре одна, но сохраняться можно в любой момент.
В общем, хорошая игра, оформленная в ретро-стилистике (визуал и звуки заточены под 8 бит). Но конечно же для определённой аудитории. Думаю далеко не каждого современного игрока привлечёт такой проект. Но если вам за 30 и вы не понаслышке знаете, что такое "Денди", то игра вам понравится. Но крайне не рекомендую её рассматривать для выбивания достижений, ибо они заставят вас попотеть ( пройти игру за 45 минут, не сохраняясь, убить босса без урона и т.п.).
И кстати, в игре есть даже редактор уровней и персонажей, что тоже весьма неплохо.

Its Fun. HOWEVER....
The Final Boss requires EXTREME jumping precision, which this game does NOT provide. really brings down the entire game imo. It is SUPER spammy. It fires rockets and bullets all over and no room to dodge, sends crates at you too fast to line up to shoot. also if you ARE hit (and you will be) it locks your guns out for a couple seconds so you can't fire, you just have to hope your health holds out.
Other than the last boss fight (which is frustrating and really crap) The rest of the game is great. Only took like 4 hours to finish, but yea. Get it.
Like his big brother, it's a great game. try it out!

Mini Ghost é um metroidvania pequeno com gráficos e gameplay retrô. O jogo é divertido e funciona muito bem para passar o tempo. Minha única crítica é que eu achei a gameplay um pouco vazia, estou num ponto do jogo em que já explorei quase todos os caminhos (possíveis no momento) e agora tenho duas salas difíceis para passar e não tive muita sensação de progresso até agora.
Como um platformer retrô para passar o tempo é ótimo. Mas como um metroidvania parece um pouco linear demais, eu pude acessar várias salas extras, mas elas não tinham nada que fizesse valer a pena o caminho.

I found this recommended on a few Metroidvania rec lists. It’s apparently a shorter tie-in game to the larger Ghost 1.0, which I immediately bounced from due to the awful voice acting and art style. This one is perfectly nice, though. It’s a bit linear for a Metroidvania, but still quite solid. I think it could have used better signposting — crates that contain upgrades look identical to normal crates, and I initially got stuck for quite a while because I didn’t realize that the room with a giant lava pit contained the boss I needed to beat to progress. (They really should have blocked the way forward until you beat the boss.) But otherwise, it was good fun.
Me lo acabo de pasar, un juegazo la verdad, me ha trasladado a esos años magicos de los microordenadores.

This mini-vania was a lot of fun. Once I started, I was charmed by the world, and I didn't put it down until 4 hours later. This was on sale for $0.99. What a bargain =)
It's a very good game because it keeps the retro gaming of 80 years with his sprites, sound and his plateform gaming as Mario. It's also fast enough to be good. The is also an sprite tileset and level editor sharing in workshop which is a very good point and also the first time a mario game like can be modded.
The price also is cheap.
I just think there are not enough modding possibility (add text message change item, parameters the monster and not only the level) but for the price it's very good.
Short game, but excelent fun! Need more games like that where simple and great gameplay is the focus and not next gen graphics with boring gameplay.
This is a short and sweet metroidvania-type platformer. I decided to play it after noticing I picked it up with the larger Ghost game and figured I'd play it first. Beat it in 3 hours and I'd say it was time well spent. A fun, quick, engaging experience.

Okay so TL;DR:
the game is a steal, amazing world building and metroidvania setting that will leave you satisfied, all for a very low price of 1$ at sale.
longer review: Personally I had a spare dollar and just bought it because I like Metroidvania and this one seemed like a single person effort so I said "why not, a small support for a developer". But as I downloaded the 24mb game, I binged it for 2 hours straight, the game is basically about a robot girl called Ghost on a mission to destroy an evil computer. The art is classical pixel themed and I liked it so much, the music is generic but has a retro feeling to it, the map designing is not lazy at all and it really makes you think at some rooms on how to pass them. Basically you are buying a full fledged nice game for literally the price of a soda can. The bosses are really fun and well designed, there are different mobs and they vary from one another which makes the experience nicer by learning their new attack patterns. You progressively unlock new abilities that make you stronger and help you navigate through rooms you couldn't before. Overall the game is a solid 8/10 imo for its price and short playtime of 3hours in my first full relaxing playthrough.
Although a single con I noticed is the healing system, standing beside those devices that I have to walk to in the first place from the main hub room was a bit unnecessary, especially that I have to do it everytime I wanted to heal, but that is about it!

Gráficos humildes, pero que cumplen porque la estética del juego es retro.
La música me pareció muy alegre. Hubiera preferido algo más lúgubre o música de misterio.
En el jefe final, el personaje que controlamos (Ghost) dice unas frases en texto que se posicionan sobre Ghost. Eso hace que el texto tape lo que está pasando en pantalla y frustra.

Long, long ago, before the Castlevania and Metroid series were but sparkles in the eyes of their future founders, Konami developers made the unlikely decision to produce a side-scrolling, dungeon-searching sequel to their vertical scrolling shooter Knightmare: Demon Castle Legend. The result was the iconic MSX title Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious.
Mini Ghost is, in its own bite-sized form, one of a small handful of true-to-the-source-material respinnings of the elements that made MoG so awesome:
1) a big but succinct map where individual screens are accessible from multiple horizontal and vertical points,
2) a generally low difficulty level where exploration and item discovery eclipses combat and platforming, and
3) a sequential yet open-feeling progression through increasingly difficult zones with imposing bosses.
For a price that won't break anyone's piggy bank, it's hard not to recommend this game emphatically. The addition of a map and character editor sweetens the deal, but if you're at all a fan of games like La-Mulana and Unepic, this one'a a no-brainer, folks. While you're at it, check out Maze of Galious the gem that inspired these worthy spiritual successors, as well as the rest of Metroidvania-dom.

[*]Нет аптечек. Вообще. Только ремонтные роботы в двух местах карты, до которых пилить и пилить, да лечение повышением уровня (об этом - ниже).

It's essentially a glorified pachinko machine.
I've been a gamer since the 90's and I've completed everything from Mario to (insert classic game here). There's no joy in completing a game based on pure chance. Ruined the experience. I'll resort to a lets play for this game....and that's the first time ever and I'm 52 years old. It would be good if you actually applied yourself to the art of gaming instead of producing this joke.
I like the retro aesthetic and the ability to make custom characters and maps. On top of being a scale down version of Ghost, it also makes a nice basic standalone platformer/shooter/metroidvania.
I feel that some indie devs think that if their game is an older game's ripoff and they charge it for a couple of bucks, we, as players, should be much more lenient. I disagree.
Mini Ghost is a mini metroidvania, as you already know. It is supposed to be cute and all this, but during the couple of hours it lasts, it becomes a collection of bad design choices and, ultimately, an excercise in boredom:
* The game has no healing (via drops or consumable), except a room at the start of the game. If you happen to reach a boss with low health, you're better off going back to heal and try again. There are no shortcuts, therefore your time is wasted.
* Healing is not the only reason for backtracking. There are shops with items that make you go back and forth to levels you've already explored. Remember, there are no shortcuts.
* Enemies start attacking you from the frame you enter a room and sometimes you can't do anything to avoid damage. Also, some enemies emerge from the ground, without any sign to warn you and when you enter the screen they are lowered so you can't know where to step and where not. Enemies who shoot at you are designed poorly. Remember, there are no healing and no shortcuts.
All these don't make the game challenging, tha game is easy, but it's designed to be tedious, possibly to surpass the 2 hour mark for refunds. And if the dev doesn't care to make a fun game, why should I care about his game?
Recommendation: Pay a couple of bucks more and find an real metroidvania that doesn't waste your time, even if we're talking about a couple of hours.

Just played through it, and it's just a really good, little metroidvania-style game. Absolutely worth the 2 bucks. It's like a little snack in between the big ones like Bloodstained or the new Ori. Very enjoyable from start to finish.
You should get this if you like metroidvanias, and especially if you have ever wanted to create a Metroidvania. It's not perfect, but it's good enough. And it's cheap!
