Despite its glaring flaws, I was ready to leave a positive review until... the last achievement.

The last achievement wants you to finish the whole game under 10 deaths. I was enjoying it trying many times to get S each level, but it was no longer fun when I had to beat the whole game with as little death as possible. It ruined my entire experience.

The biggest issue is that the game frequently micro-stutters/freezes, completing omitting your input. This happens VERY often. My rig with 4080 Super should not have issues with such game. This problem seems to be also happening in the console version so it's simply poorly coded. I have had so many deaths during my playthrough for the last achievement due to these freezes.

Miles & Kilo is such a short and sweet platformer or an auto-scroller depending on your choice and it’s a lot of fun! It could be classified as a sequel or a spiritual successor of Kid Tripp from the same developer with a similar gameplay to this one. After your plane crashes on a supposedly cursed island and its parts get scavenged by a bunch of goons, you try to get them back with your dog Kilo. You get past obstacles, fight bosses, collect fruits to use against enemies, and collect coins to score high points through levels that are usually 25 seconds long. It’s not a very long game as it took me only 4 hours to get all the achievements, but there’s a time attack mode that gets unlocked after you beat the game once which adds a little bit of replay value, especially if you’re going for all achievements. It has relaxing summer vibes and a charming soundtrack with fun gameplay. It kind of reminded me of Adventure Island with its short levels, but Adventure Island games are usually a lot longer. My only complaint about the game would be the slight input lag I’ve experienced during my playthrough.

If you’re looking for something to relax real quick with a little bit of challenge, Miles & Kilo would be the ideal choice. Sadly, its predecessor Kid Tripp isn’t on Steam.

I own this game on multiple platforms at this point, and there's a pretty good reason for that. The levels are fun as heck to play and to play again, even without stopping. It's a short but sweet game, basically. Recommend playing it, and make sure to go for 100%, cause that's where this game shines the most imo.

For what is, at first glance, an unusual knock-off/lookalike of the much-iconic Super Mario Brothers that defined the platformer genre in the mid-1980's back on the old NES, Miles & Kilo does a rather good job at taking us back to those more retro arcade-styled games that had such addicting yet very much challenging gameplay, albeit with the hindsight of modern gaming development allowing for a more smoother experience alongside those pixel 8-bit graphics that have their own unique charm in that such a style can be timeless if done well!

Although to get down to basics, Miles & Kilo is a platformer at heart as well, where the player controls either Miles or Kilo depending on the level itself as each of the two have different gameplay styles where the platforming side of things is concerned, with Miles taking the traditional platformer whereby you have full control of your character and thus has the more precise of obstacles to overcome whereas Kilo, who will be waiting for you either at the start of a level or later on depending on the course itself, will take over control from Miles as he dashes forward uncontrollably, with only the ability to jump and dash into enemies and get underneath obstacles saving him from dangers that, although not as complex as Miles' levels, still pose a threat when one can not stop themselves!

Seeing as you are graded on your performance in each level via either a C, B, A or S rank depending on how many of the three objectives of each level that you meet, (that being how many coins you've collected, how many fruit you've picked up and how fast you completed the level) it encourages both casual gameplay on a player's first playthrough as well as more efficient and skilled methods for future attempts, be it for achievement hunting or for getting as best a time record as possible.

On that note, once the story mode has been completed, a new gamemode will unlock that goes by the name of 'Time Attack', which essentially acts as a recorded playthrough of all 36 levels in this game that has you racing against the clock to see just how fast you can get through them all, with each death being counted and including the times of failed attempts as well, which is something that expert platforming fans will love for bragging rights!

Since this game lends itself rather well to smooth gameplay that rewards knowing the best routes and those with excellent quick reflexes to act on the spot for the many obstacles that lay ahead, (not to mention keeping a close eye on the fruit as, unlike coins, fruits are used as throwing weapons against enemies from afar but this is limited to 5 fruit at any given time and does affect the score of each round, albeit not mattering so much for a mode where time is key and not the score itself!) it gives those who enjoy the game something that little 'extra' to dip into here!

As far as potential criticisms go though, my main issue is that there is no windowed screen to play on as I often enjoy being able to click away from the game and back in to do other things in the background, something that is not possible with this game as it will only allow for full screen gameplay. Also it is a little on the short side for anyone even remotely decent at platforming and, with no extra secret levels/world that is host to some borderline-insane difficulty for the most hardcore of players, some may find themselves getting rather tired quickly once they have beaten the game on their first run.

In conclusion, Miles & Kilo is definitely a decent enough platformer in it's own right that, whilst not on the scale of bigger triple-A platforming games, can still be enjoyed in the short time that is spent with it as the price of this indie is reflective of how much content there is in this title, and it's surprisingly well-made with the charming duo that is Miles and Kilo making for a fun platformer that adults can enjoy well enough as well as be a fun and addictive game for younger gamers!

TLDR Version:

• Easy platformer game to get into that gradually ups the challenge throughout five thematic worlds (+)
• Charming characters with fun and witty dialogue that is coupled rather nicely with the well-made 8-bit graphics that pay homage to old NES titles (+)
• Controls and precise and fair for Miles with challenging levels but also adds variety with simpler obstacles for Kilo combined with forced momentum forward (+)
• New gamemode that unlocks after completing the story mode allows for more competitive play for those itching for more to challenge themselves with (+)

• Miles & Kilo doesn't allow for windowed gameplay and forces full screen on the player (-)
• Although varied, the 36 levels available can be beaten somewhat quickly by veteran platformers in under an hour first try and may find themselves disappointed if the Time Attack gamemode doesn't appeal to them (-)
• No secret levels for those who go out of their way for finding hidden parts of a game or aim for full completion that push the platformer's difficulty to it's limits for the most dedicated of players (-)

A simple game warrants a simple review: Miles & Kilo is way too expensive for what it is, and it may not even be worth your time, unless you’re looking for a quick distraction.

There really isn’t much here: it’s a runner game with adorable graphics and a few hours of content. It looks nice—though I would have liked a few more level themes—and sounds adequate.

You use two buttons: one for jumping and another for a context sensitive action. It flows pretty well, except for a few levels in the second to last world—there’s a difficulty sour spot where things aren’t loose and easy like the first few worlds, but also not tight and precise like the last. The bosses are fun, although sometimes they attack you in unexpected ways that will probably get you killed. And that’s pretty much it. There’s not enough levels, or mechanics, or fun.

Most of my time with it was to get a good time attack run, and I may even come back to 0-death it, as the game plays well enough. I just don’t think there’s enough content or wow-factor for it to be worth the money, or the time. If it looks like your cup of tea, wait for a sale, then get it. Otherwise, skip this one and play a more interesting runner game.

Great Autorunner, with over 30 levels and S ranks to get on each. Very fun throughout, and enjoyed finding consistent strategies for the time attack mode. $8 seems a but much as only 3-4h of content and less if you are playing casually, but it goes on sale for 80 cents often.

It's charming, it's polished, and while you can play it at your own pace/skill level, it's always danging that S-Rank above your head. Very rewarding to just walk through the maps and see S-Ranks everywhere.

To start things of. I recommend it if you like autorunners, because this game was made with the intention of never stopping, even giving you an option to turn on autorun. (That option only really exists for like half the game, because the other half autoruns anyway. The surfboard always autoruns and once you control your dog, it also autoruns... and bossbattles do too.)

Everything is carefully crafted to just exactly work in one intended way (sometimes more, but later on it becomes more like a puzzle on how to run through it), so you die on every obstacle to find out how to do it, which is a little frustrating without checkpoints imo, but feels very good, once you get the run done.

So if you don't mind a bit of trial and error, until you memorized the harder stages and bosspatterns, you're gonna die and try again and again until you know whats coming.

Which brings me to my next point... the bossbattles are basically just set in stone patterns that you need to memorize. To be fair, it would be pretty hard to do them first try, because everything is happening so quickly. It would be very frustrating, if they had random patterns and you COULDN'T learn them, but at the same time, having to redo 2/3 of a bossfight multiple times, just to find out how to solve the last piece of the puzzle, is a bit annoying to me personally.

I've said a bunch of negatives, but in general, the controls feel quite nice and responsive, though I must say, that having the button to slide under objects and throwing an apple at an enemy on the same button, depending on if the game wants you to slide or not, was also confusing at times. There were points in which I wanted to slide under enemies, but the game wanted me to jump and throw something at them, or jump on top of them, which meant I couldn't slide and only had this one path to clear the obstacle.

At last, I don't get why I had to turn windowed mode on in the config file and not in the optionsmenu, like every other normal game. The game works perfectly in windowed mode, so there is no reason not to add the option... also I found no way to change languages. I play my games in english everytime, even though I am german, but I use a german steamclient, so it sets the game to german, without any option to change it to english. Its just a minor designflaw, but I don't like german dialogue in games, always feels a bit cringe to me.

Overall I said way more negatives than positives, probably because it is easier to say what I didn't enjoy, but if I didn't enjoy the game, I wouldn't have completed it. Doing all S ranks however feels a bit too annoying. I was perfectly fine and happy just beating the levels.

So know what you're getting into, when buying this. Its not a long ride either. I've beaten it in 2,5h.

一款小体量横版卷轴平台跳跃动作游戏，游戏风格有点像《高桥名人的冒险岛》但体量虽小对于关卡及操作细节的考究丝毫不含糊。
游戏可以控制Miles（人）与Kilo（狗），控制人的时候可以进行跳跃，水果攻击（消耗水果），滑铲、攀爬以及乘滑板等操作，控制狗可以进行跳跃和旋转攻击（可锁定敌人）
本游戏一共5大世界总共37关，除用狗或boss关是强制向右卷轴外都可自行控制移动，同时每一关都有相应的机制和特点技巧供玩家破解。
游戏在操作上虽然比较简单，但作为一款偏硬核的平台类游戏，如跳跃踩踏敌人时根据按键长短不同，还可分为小跳（踩踏敌人后不按任何键），中跳（踩踏敌人后迅速按跳跃键），大跳（踩踏敌人后按住跳跃键）等等，控制狗时回转攻击敌人后亦然，看似简单的操作同时结合关卡设计可谓十分考究。
游戏的优点：
1.画面非常复古，整体呈现可爱风格，色彩丰富艳丽。
2.游戏音乐非常优秀，欢快的曲风让高难的挑战变得十分轻松。
3.关卡设计非常有考究且优秀，这点在一冲到底上就能发现。
4.敌人种类丰富，boss战趣味十足。
5.有着丰富的成就及挑战模式。

缺点：
1.关卡总量过少，玩起来还是稍有些不过瘾。
2.没有能力上的提升，好在关卡设计出色，玩起来还不算闷。
3.狗形态跳跃回转攻击敌人后想大跳的时机不好掌握，推荐用攻击+跳跃键同时按住。
4.游戏需要时常按住右键进行奔跑，时间久后手指会非常累。

综上而言，本作还是一款非常有趣且值得一玩的佳作，如果有打折的话更好，推荐给喜欢平台动作类的玩家。

Fantastic little precision runner / platformer. Yes, it's short, but well worth the price - especially if you plan to go back and ace every level, and tackle the new game mode. It does get maddeningly difficult as it progresses, but also scales up that difficulty masterfully. Great fun!

Best game. BUY NOW. No, seriously, that's my fav platformer. I've been playing it on the switch for awhile and then I purchased it on the PC. The level design is amazing and really well thought, the music is immersive and although it might be a breezy game for relaxed playing, if you get competitive it's pretty hard and every small mistake is punishing. I love this game and I'm looking forward to more games by Four Horses in the future!

I originally picked this up for Switch, and was blown away by the quality. This is an incredibly tight platformer à la Hudson's Adventure Island. I would strongly recommend turning on auto-run in the options, as the platforming is at its best when you never stop moving, and the levels were clearly designed with that in mind.

I'm not a speedrunner, but this game made me feel like one!

My only complaint is that the "press jump after attacking to extend the jump" while in dog mode is pretty awkward, I wonder if holding attack could be bound to the same effect?

What begins looking like yet another Amateur Gamemaker title with derivative humour quickly turns into a professional, even if simple, production with clever level designs.

Mile & Kilo is broken into short multiple stages through various worlds (al la Mario)
but what could've been a straight left to right affair mixes game play mechanics of a runner, from time to time, as well.

Every level has been carefully designed with completionists and speed-runners in mind

The most impressive feature, however, is the use of vibrant colours and shading - the scenery never gets boring; changing from topics to temples to caves and silhouetted paradise sunsets.

Un petit jeu de plateforme très mignon graphiquement, très sympa niveau gameplay et des niveaux qui sont suffisamment renouvelé en terme d'épreuve et de difficulté. J'adore tout particulièrement le niveau où tout est montré sous forme d'ombre sur fond de crépuscule (c'était dur, mais c'était réussi). Au final, malgré les deux défauts cités ci-dessous, je le recommande :)

Malgré tout, deux défauts qui rendent parfois le jeu ridiculement difficile et qui sont, à mes yeux, des erreurs dans le gameplay :
- Deux actions se trouvent sous la même touche, glisser sous un obstacle et lancer un fruit... avec le risque que parfois à proximité d'un obstacle où vous voulez tirer votre personnage choisi de glisser et inversement. - Et surtout la savonette que le personnage à sous les pieds, super pénible de devoir prévoir ce décalage à chaque fois que vous atterrissez sur une micro plateforme.

Miles & Kilo es una gran aventura que a nivel estético rinde homenaje a clásicos como Alex Kidd, Adventure Island y Wonder Boy, pero con una personalidad propia y muy definida.

A pesar de su corta duración, es un juego que ofrece una gran variedad de posibilidades para jugadores casuales y experimentados por igual al introducir opciones como correr de forma automática y los retos de completar el nivel en menos de un tiempo determinado, recolectar todas las monedas y tener cinco frutas en nuestro inventario, además que las batallas contra jefes son geniales y requieren mucha destreza.

A nivel gráfico es precioso, evoca de una manera muy bien conseguida la estética que tienen los juegos que mencioné al principio además que la banda sonora no solo es chiptune de 8 bits sino que es frenética y se adapta muy bien a la dinámica de juego.

I saw this and checked the trailer. What I saw was gave me Adventure Island vibes and in the best possible way so I bought it. I wasn't disappointed at all. The game definitely draw inspiration form Adventure Island and that is a good thing. The graphics are bight and colorful and the music is easily enjoyable.

The Gameplay is spot on as well. If you mess up it's your fault and not the game's the sections where you are being dragged by your loyal friend Kilo are challenging but nothing that can't be overcome. The boss fights are fun as you have to run and jump through the auto-running level while scoring hits on them.

Overall Miles and Kilo is a fun game that can enjoyed by anyone I highly recommend it.

Also Kilo is the goodest boy.

Miles and Kilo is a fantastic and cute runner about a boy and his dog - and you can play as both, too. It's unique in that you can choose to play it as a runner or as a regular right-moving sidescroll platformer by enabling/disabling autorun. In that regard, the levels are well designed to be fair on "runner mode" - there is always a perfect cycle of enemies and obstacles inherent from level start that will allow you to flawlessly get through each level and get an S rank. Great game!

Nie rozumiem, dlaczego ta gra nie jest popularna. Grafika, muzyka i sterowanie są bardzo dobre. Jest to w pewnym sensie połączenie platformówki z Geometry Dash. Bardzo przyjemne poziomy, nieskomplikowane sterowanie, zabawna fabuła. Polecam!

Short but entirely pleasant experience. The levels are short enough that you never feel harshly punished for failing, and getting an S rank on every level is very satisfying. You can get it on sale for peanuts and enjoy it thoroughly for about an hour and a half. I love finding games like this.

Miles & Kilo is styled like a throw-back to 80s arcade platformers like Adventure Island, but it plays more like a modern flow platformer like the Rayman mobile games. Each element in each stage is placed and timed to allow you to constantly be moving forward. (There's even an option that makes Miles automatically run forward, though I left it off for the occasional moment where I wanted to pause and consider a jump.) There's a pleasant rhythmic feeling to hopping through the levels. Everything feels well-tuned as an engaging challenge. It's not a long game, but it lasts as long as it needs to.

An unusually fine sense of [i]flow[/i] makes this semi-runner stand out. I say "semi-runner" because while the game encourages players to blow through its tiny stages as quickly as possible, there is usually the option to slow down and sip the chamomile -- except in the pell-mell Kilo the dog stages, which operate on another set of rules. If you play merely to [i]beat[/i] the game, it may seem far too short for its price; keep in mind that all achievements are perfectly attainable with a modicum of patience, and that shooting for that hundred-percent -- practicing the stages repeatedly and learning the secret flow of each -- will win you the maximum amount of fun (and hours).

I hate speedrunning in general, but love games like [i]Miles & Kilo[/i] and [i]Mighty Switch Force[/i]. What a paradox, eh?

El juego es encantador y muy divertido.
Una mezcla de platformas al estilo Mario mezclado con Wonder boy/Adventure Island.
Tiene la opción de convertirlo en un Running, esto es, el movimiento del scroll sin detenerse parecido al Mario Run.
Pero por defecto el juego funciona como un plataformas normal.
Me ha gustado más que el Fox n Forests que he comprado al mismo tiempo.

This has been a pretty great game. I think it is reasonably priced at 8$, despite being short on length. It is polished, has a great soundtrack, has tons of challenge with completely fair consequences, teaching, and design. Short levels allow for repetition to really ace the level and get a full score, and it feels great doing so. The music never feels repetitive, and the parallaxing in the background, accompanied with a great palette, makes this game a huge joy to run through. I will be playing this until I ace every level, and then maaaybe I'll consider speedrunning it.

This game has nice challenge and tight controls. The Kilo sections can be awkward as you need to hold the jump button when doing homing attacks otherwise you drop like a rock. Music is enjoyable and the levels can be completed around 20 - 30 seconds, but of course you might die a few or many times before completing them depending on your platforming skills. It's got plenty of speedrunning potential as well for those who enjoy that sort of thing.

WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. This is the best platformer ive played thats on steam, its like a mixture of mario and sonic gameplay. Sure the game is difficult, but everytime I died I felt that it was my fault and not the games fault. Also the little cutsences are really charming and entertaining to watch. More people should play this.

Miles and Kilo was a fantastic suprise, and has everything you would want from a retro game.

The game starts out with miles and his dog, kilo, crash landing on an island filled with creepy bad guys. Each bad guy steals a part to their plane and they go on a quest to recover their lost parts, put the plane back together and get off this island.

The game is divided into 5 worlds, each world has 7 levels, the last of which is a boss fight, the worlds are standard fare and range from the usual platform levels such as ice, fire, jungle, desert, etc. The graphics and sound in this game are great, the graphics are done in an 8 bit style, but the game definitely looks brigther, more colorful, and more detailed than anything that you would see on the nes.

Gameplay is broken down into 2 basic segments. Standard platforming levels and endless runner levels. Both levels are extremely fun to play and offer a wide variety of challenges. Control in this game is spot on and it has a great difficulyt curve. The first few levels are very easy and the game slowly ramps up until the end which is difficult, without being frustrating. Expect to die, but you will learn from your deaths and do better with each attempt. Boss battles are done in a runner style that also has you dodging attacks and trying to find the right moment to smack the boss. The bosses are all really fun to fight and each present their own unique challenges.

The levels are short, most of them can be completed in 20-40 seconds but that is assuming you are not dying and you run through them. I finished the game in 100 minutes, your mileage may vary but it likely wont take you too much longer for your initial run. The game also presents time attack mode and ranked levels which you can replay for achievements if you are into that sort of thing.

This is one of the most charming games I have ever played, everything in this level is just so cute, especially kilo, and kept a huge smile on my face throughout the whole adventure. If you are looking for a fun retro themed game with a nice challenge and addiciting gameplay this is definitely a worthy purchase.

Pros:

Fun little platformer/runner. Worth playing if you like those.

I love the simple but great looking pixel art, and the music is top notch.

2 different characters who play differently and mix up the gameplay a bit.

Cons:

Maybe a little short unless you're really into replaying games to beat your own times.

A hidden gem I discovered during the IndieXmas event on twitter hosted by IndieGamerChick along with several developers. A VERY fun and challenging game that while it can be played as a "platformer" game it's best played as a runner and the whole game is made with that in mind (You even have an option to automatically move forward).

Great soundtrack, nice pixel art, actually good bosses in a runner game, a rather high difficulty at times and a game that pushes you to improve yourself by ranking your performance. Game is short enough to not to feel like a chore to try to get all those S ranks.

Worst part about the game is something that doesn't directly impact on the gameplay, it's the achievements. A couple of them are simply extremely ridiculous and pretty much lock anyone from legitimately complete the game 100% but at the time of this review the developer has stated that he plans to dial down those achievements so they aren't that punishing (Or rather outright impossible).

Another annoying thing is the lack of a restart button for when you're trying to get the S ranks. Other than that is a very enjoyable experience.

この手のプラットフォームゲームはジャンプする動作が自分の感覚に合うか合わないかで印象が全然違ってくるので自分がこうだと感じてレビューしても他の人の感覚では変なジャンプの動作だなと思われるかもしれない。
あくまでも自分のプレイ感覚で…
ピョンと跳ねて着地するジャンプの感覚に妙な違和感もなく、走って止まるときの挙動もそれを強く意識していないと駄目ってワケでもない。
ゲームを始めてみると、なぜそこに敵やワナが配置されているのか、なぜそこにだけ足場がないのかのデザインが良い意味でいやらしい。半キャラ分のズレで落下死や地形ワナに接触してミスとプラットフォームアクションなら珍しくはない数多くの障害も「初見なら一度は罠に引っかかってもらいましょう」みたいな意地が悪いもののではなく「なぜそういう配置やデザインになってるのか」がわかるだけに「引っかかる方が悪い」という感じだ。
敵に接触すると一発死だが元がスマホのゲームなのかステージが短いので何度ミスして最初に戻されてもそれほどストレスを感じることはない。死んでジャンプのタイミングや障害物の位置を覚えてクリアしていく。上手く切り抜けられたらCool!って言葉が頭に浮かぶ操作感とゲームスピードはボタンを押すタイミングがズレるとミスというか音ゲーに通じるものを感じた。
youtubeなどでプレイ動画を見ればわかるでしょうけど上手い人のプレイを見てるとすごく面白そうに見えるでしょう。
しかし序盤からジャンプのタイミングを強く求められるのでストーリーモードをクリア出来そうにないです。（苦笑）
ただ強制スクロールのステージ以外はあまり制限に追われることもなく自分のペースで駆け抜けることができるのでステージをクリアしたときのスコアやタイム、評価を気にせず死に覚えゲーに徹すれば案外簡単かもしれませんが。
体験版があればレビューよりもずっとわかりやすくこのゲームが理解できると思うんですけどね。

While my review is a positive one for the game itself, I'm really on-the-fence about the pricing. Depending on how good you are at the game, you can beat it in a couple of hours or even faster. The levels rank you based on time and collectibles, and I was able to get the maximum rank for every level in approximately 2.5 hours (two-and-a-half). There are 36 levels total, and, ignoring deaths/retries and mistakes, every level can be completed in 20 to 40 seconds... Thus, I wouldn't say this game is long by any means.

I bought the game simply off of interest with the screenshots and trailer. I don't usually buy games this quickly but I figured I would give it a shot.

The game is definitely very fast-paced and really banks on you moving through the levels quickly. While you can move the character at your own pace, the levels always go in one direction and sometimes will require you to continuously move in order to make progress; otherwise, if you move too slow, you might get stuck or die.

There is an "Autorun" setting in the options which I actually [i]turned on[/i] after a couple of levels. Essentially, from that point forward, the game became a trial of learning how to time jumps, rolls, attacks, and so on, just using 2 buttons.

Each level has enemies and obstacles in it, as well as coins and fruit to collect. The fruit are actually weapons you can throw to knock out certain enemies, though some of them are invincible to the fruit. You can only carry 5 fruit at a time, so if you use some, collecting more will add back to your little inventory. The coins, on the other hand, are used for nothing but points and ranking in the levels.

Each level will give you a rank upon completion, with S being the highest. In order to get the S rank, you must complete the level within a time limit, collect all of the coins, and have your 5 fruit inventory full when you finish the level. In order to complete the time limits, using the "Autorun" is essentially necessary. So many of the levels, even if they have very few obstacles and lots of open space, might still be very difficult for their time limit. For instance, there were many times where I'd finish a level at 29.9 seconds, and the time limit was 30.0 seconds. Even making a single tiny mistake in some levels will make it impossible to reach the time limit.

Note, [i]importantly[/i], that the time limits and ranking are unrelated to progress in the game, and only exist if you wish to add even more challenge to what you are doing.

In any case, the story of the game is really not much of a story. The guy (Miles) and his dog (Kilo) get knocked out of the sky, and some creepy guys steal parts of their plane. You run through different areas until you reach boss levels, which still run similarly to the normal levels, except that you have to attack at certain times in a specific way and cannot just throw fruit at the bosses.

The graphics and sound are as they seem in the screenshots and trailer: retro-style and chip tunes. There's variety in the level design and also multiple songs in the game, so it's not the same thing over and over.

All in all, the game is really a lot of fast-paced motion and timing. There is no exploration. All of the levels are linear and can be very quick if you are good at reacting quickly. Despite that, I enjoyed the game, though I'm still on-the-fence about the pricing for it. It could probably be a couple of bucks cheaper.
