truly harrowing, a level of disturbing psychological horror that really got to me
Wow una aventura que versa sobre muchos problemas mentales de forma muy intensa y bien llevada. Puede hacerse un pelín lento, pero creo que el autor ha sabido medir tiempos para contarnos esta historia.
mmm. veo acá un juego distinto, de otro tipo. tiene un terror más cercano y real que cualquier otro. el monstruo de la salud mental y el trauma, y de como es capaz de tomarnos de rehén y volvernos incapaces de existir como antes lo hacíamos. el reloj deja de existir y la única medida de espacio y tiempo se rige en el antes y el después de haber sido secuestrado por y encerrado en nuestro propio cuerpo. velamos una versión nuestra que ya no existe y cargamos, no solo los grilletes de la culpa, la verguenza, y el peso de mil nubes negras sentadas en nuestros hombros, si no con el peso de los que nos rodean y a quienes afectamos con nuestra misma desdicha.
My first entry into the Midnight Scenes series and I think one of my favorite installments. I can't wait to play the others, it's certainly worth full price. I got roped in immediately
This is the best Midnight Scenes so far. It drew me in and didn't let go until the end. Scary, not for kids. Choices Matter. Good game, about 2 hours. I'll replay it every 6 months or so. Def 11/10 Recommended
Amazing art and very atmospheric, with a great story. Explores mental health issues, some dark themes. Not too much puzzles and more story focused, but with this type of experience that's fine.

Okay, so this one was dark, and more of a guided story experience. There wasn't too much gameplay to be had; it was mostly cutscenes with the occasional opportunity to interact with the environment. I hope in their next game they'll include more interactive gameplay, like in their earlier games. Atmosphere, graphics, and sounds were all on point as usual.
Wow! What a great experience. The Midnight Scenes games are something else. There are perfect for the Steam Deck. Must have Halloween pick. This episode is winter themed so would also be a good pick for the cold season. Thank you for making those games. It only has English language but it’s not difficult to figure out, don’t let this stop from buying it

Это пиксельный point&click, где акцент сделан не на геймплее, а на истории и атмосфере. Комната героя становится одновременно островком безопасности и бездонной ямой кошмаров. Балансируя между этими состояниями, игрок постепенно узнает правду. Даже при минимализме визуала и ограниченном пространстве, свет и тень создают ощущение тревожной глубины, а каждый объект в комнате будто хранит личную тайну.
Отдельного внимания заслуживает муз. сопровождение. Оно подчеркивает мрачные сцены и усиливает напряжение там, где взгляд не видит ничего. Музыка буквально ведет эмоцию игрока от спокойствия к панике, от тоски к отчаянию.
Бытовой хоррор в необычном формате. Без скримеров и загадок, но с мощным психологическим ударом. Советую тем, кто любит многослойные и эмоциональные истории, способные зацепить с первой сцены и не оставить равнодушным.

Midnight Scenes: A Safe Place è un gioco piccolo ma veramente gradevole, e lo stesso mi sento di dire per tutti i giochi di questa raccolta.
I giochi condividono tutti una struttura simile e sono dei punta e clicca thriller con atmosfera a tratti horror, dove tuttavia non sono quasi mai presenti enigmi, e anche in caso, di facile soluzione.
Parlando nello specifico di questo capitolo, nonostante il breve minutaggio (circa 90 minuti nel mio caso), la componente narrativa è ben riuscita e il seguire degli eventi scorre e intrattiene con successo, portando il giocatore a voler sapere sempre di più di tutto ciò che accade a schermo. Gli episodi di Midnight Scenes non sono costruiti unicamente per dare qualche brivido, ma anche per, alle volte, concedere un piccolo spunto di riflessione su alcune realtà, come in questo capitolo.
Assolutamente consigliato per passare un pomeriggio, o ancora meglio una serata, in compagnia di un ottimo e ben curato indie.

Very good story. I played it right through. I do wish there were more actual puzzles. As has been mentioned by others its more of a visual novel. But its still very worth playing.

I know this publisher is well respected by its fans so if this is your type of game, get it!
I personally wish I had that 90 minutes of my life back. For an "adventure" "puzzle" game (per the tags), it had very little adventuring and essentially no puzzles. Any sense of having agency in the game was over after the introduction. I would describe it as a visual novel, not even a walking sim.
I love finding you games to play based on their tags, but for me it was a huge miss.
While this entry to the Midnight Scenes series is quite different from the others so far, I really enjoyed it. The horrors in this are more real, more human, so I was also more emotionally invested and felt quite bad for the characters at times. The story had me more and more intrigued as it went on. I think the narrative flowed nicely, and the game was just the right length to tell the story. Charming pixel graphics and a fitting soundtrack (as usual) completed the experience.

I was pulled into the mystery of what was happening to Phil immediately.
This is definitely more of an interactive story than a point and click game.
The game gets very dark and features some really tough imagery and topics.
After finishing the game, I wanted to immediately go back in and play again with my newfound knowledge.
I'm going to be playing all of these. This is an edgier Twilight Zone and I'm all for it.
Well, that was unexpected. Very disturbing, I love it.

Thank you dev for the copy, sorry it took so long for me to play it. One of my favorite indie devs, support your indie devs! Real serious stuff in this game: mental illness, depression, silent suffering. Very good story telling as usual. This resonates in some ways, as im sure it does for many. Worth your time to play it.

Пятая игра Полуночных эпизодов - на этот раз вместо ужасов - триллер. И проблема этой части – в её затянутости. Если бы история была скомпонована максимум в полчаса-час, как первые игры, – то это был бы не плохой триллер, которому однозначно палец вверх.
Но два часа чтения однообразных и повторяющихся диалогов/монологов (и бесконечного кликанья «далее»), перемежающихся редкими сценками - утомительно. А это весь игровой процесс. Какое-то действие в истории и ВОТ ЭТО ПОВОРОТ происходят только в последние пять минут игры.
История в общем понравилась (но только после завершения), не понравилось, что отошли от формата коротких историй и растянули настолько, что хотелось бросить это всё на половине.
Если в предыдущей части продолжительность игры тоже была увеличена, относительно первых – то там хотя бы было достаточно персонажей, какое-то разнообразие локаций, и история развивалась на протяжении всей игры равномерно. Здесь же просто растянули время без всякого смысла и наполнения. Может быть за счёт этого мы должны были больше проникнуться трагедией героя, по задумке авторов? Возможно… Но на мне это не сработало, наоборот история как-то потускнела и не вызвала такого сильного отклика, какой могла бы, будь смонтирована поплотнее

매번 할때마다 느끼는건 어렸을때 티비에서 보았던 환상특급이란 미드가 떠오르게 합니다.
미스테리하고 긴장감 넘치는 이야기로 저를 티비앞에 묶어두었죠.

Philů život je vymezen pouze na jednu místnost, kde tráví veškerý svůj volný čas. Dveře do pokoje má zabarikádované, aby jej nikdo nerušil a jediný jeho kontakt je kamarádka Noelle, se kterou si občasně napíše a nebo mu donese jídlo.
Proč se ale Phil rozhodl trávit svůj život v jedné místnosti? Jaké noční můry sužují jeho život?
Hra trvá průměrně 2 hodinky, mám sice víc, ale neuložila jsem po celou dobu hraní a v jeden moment mi spadl PC, a já chtěla dohrát a získat i poslední achiev. Ty také najdete poměrně jednoduše. Hra odsýpá a má zajímavý příběh.

A very well put together story. The art is great, so is the sound design and writing. The only fault is it's not really scary. That doesn't stop it from being a really good thriller though. Highly recommend if you want a short thriller experience that's very well put together.
If the game developers were interested in making this into a movie, or were interested in writing any kind of movie script, I'd be supercalifragilisticexpialdocious-ly supportive XD.

It's not a horror game; it's an emotional damage. Feel more like peeping a person's life than playing a game. Well-written plot and suppressive atmosphere of course. But I am truly amazed the sounds our main character made in each action.....he made so much sounds to feel his own existence.

gosh, what can i even begin to say about this game.... just play through all of them the last few days on stream and i went into this one 100% blind. never saw a play through, never saw clips, didn't look anything up, but i knew it would be good due to playing the last few.
it had me questioning and confused and on the edge of my seat the whole time until that ending...woof. i cried several times throughout my play through as i heavily related with the struggles the main character was going through.
honestly, beautiful game with such beautiful writing! after every game i played, it got better and better and y'all really showed how far you've come! ii'll be letting my friends know about it for sure!! highly recommend!
Ce cinquième et dernier épisode en date des "Midnight Scenes" est pour l'instant le meilleur de la série (bon, j'avoue ne pas encore avoir joué à "From the Woods"). L'histoire est excellente et très bien écrite (le dénouement est peut-être un poil convenu, mais je dis ça vraiment pour chipoter). Parfois, on a l'impression d'être davantage dans une chronique sociale que dans un jeu horrifique à proprement parler. Mais plus que le scénario, c'est la narration qui fait la force du jeu. Elle recourt à tout un tas de procédés (échanges par textos, multiplicité des points de vue, flash back, phases d'observation avec des jumelles façon "Fenêtre sur cour", etc.) qui dynamise l'expérience et évite d'assoupir le lecteur dans la routine du point'n click. Et puis, l'émotion est toujours présente (notamment dans un contexte familial), ce qui est une marque de fabrique de la série depuis "The Highway". Bref, Octavi Navarro nous livre un nouveau petit classique du pointer-cliquer en pixel art. Vivement le prochain (car il y aura un prochain ; enfin on espère).

Nemám problém zaplatit 5,89€ za hodinku "hraní" – rozumějte posouvání textu klikáním, za občasného oživení ve formě (zcela irelevantního) rozhodnutí mezi dvěma dialogovými možnostmi – ovšem čekal jsem něco jiného a popravdě i něco víc. Třeba něco opravdu děsivého, po čem budu litovat, že jsem se rozhodl dbát doporučení (nezávislých) vývojářů, když jsem si hru zapnul v jednu ráno, zhasl světla a nasadil si sluchátka. Nebo narativ ve stylu [i]Weird fiction[/i], který umožňuje čtenáři – či v tomto případě hráči – na konci ponechat ambivalenci nadpřirozeného a vysvětlitelného zdravým rozumem nerozhodnutou ... no a ono šlo, světe div se, o zcela triviální zápletku s nepříliš sympatickými postavami bez jakékoli imerze.
Bonusového bludišťáka si pak hra zaslouží za to, že mi těsně před koncem spadla, a já jsem tak musel druhý den začít úplně od začátku, neboť automatické ukládání zjevně není součástí zakoupeného video-herního zážitku.
Možná někdy v budoucnu vyzkouším nějaký další díl série [i]Midnight Scenes[/i], ovšem pouze v případě, že bude titul alespoň v 65% slevě ... přinejhorším skončí pokus další recenzí s palcem směřujícím dolů.
Eu to simplesmente em choque com esse jogo. A história é muito boa e completamente inesperada, além de ser um grande baque pro jogador. Até mesmo a arte desse jogo é belíssima. Recomendo muitíssimo de se comprar e jogar, achei o preço justo demais!
It's well made, but there's almost no gameplay and the story is unoriginal and predictable. The only surprise here is that people apparently haven't gotten tired of the mental health issues as horror trope yet. Or the [spoiler]I forgot something horrible and now it haunts me[/spoiler] trope, for that matter. Did like the small town in winter setting and felt for the characters, but there's not much you haven't seen before. It's not scary, either and I think I would've enjoyed this more had it just been a drama story about dysfunctional family, anxiety and depression than what it was.
The game was very good. The production is very good too. Somehow this game manages to be gross (pee & poop) & very grim (the girl's father going through that was completely unnecessary to the story), yet still cozy! It's super dark toward the end, but the 1st 3/4 is really fun to play.
A heartbreaking story about a very real horror. If you want a short but good story dont ignore this one
I really enjoyed the details and the mind bending between reality verses dream. I was not expecting the ending that played out - entirely surprised ! I highly recommend if you're looking for an eerie story to interact with and to turn the lights off while you are playing - helps to gets immersed into the story.

[spoiler]'괴물보다 더 무서운 건 사람이다'[/spoiler] 라는 주제 특성상 Midnight Scenes 시리즈 중에서도 결말을 예측하기 쉬운 편인듯. 감정선을 그려내기 위한 장면들이 나쁜건 아닌데 너무 길지 않았나 싶다. 2024년 6월에 구매하고 이전 시리즈들 쫌쫌따리 하다가 7개월여가 지난 오늘... 처음으로 사랑니 뽑아봐서 한 손으로는 얼음찜질 하면서 한 손으로는 마우스로 클릭하며 할 수 있는 게임이 필요해서 마침내 플레이함!

This was the first game that I've played from the Midnight Scenes series, and boy did it take me for a ride! I've really enjoyed myself with this one and I'm looking forward playing the previous installments as well!
Octavi, the creator of this game, masterfully portrays Phil's struggles with mental health, particularly his agoraphobia, in a way that's both insightful and impactful. The depth of Phil's character is impressive, allowing players to truly empathize with him—something that many indie horror games often fail to achieve. Navarro has done an exceptional job in bringing this character to life.
Phil, who struggles with agoraphobia, is portrayed with such authenticity that it truly resonates with players. Octavi does an exceptional job of illustrating the challenges faced by those with mental health issues, making it all the more impactful.
If you see this message, Octavi, please consider creating more games in the Midnight Scenes series. Each installment is a masterpiece, but this one stands out as the best. I eagerly look forward to more of your work in the future!
I was not able to finish it. The protagonist is incredibly unpleasant and unlikable person. Just couldn't care about him enough to go through the game even once.
I still vote thumbs up, just because the game is well done technically and stylistically and I want to support the developer.

Une atmosphère prenante et un très beau pixel art!
Gran bel gioco. Grafica e gameplay in stile punta e clicca anni '90, molto ben eseguita. Colonna sonora ben fatta. La trama (come gli altri capitoli della serie) racconta una breve storia "horror" prendendo a piene mani dallo stile di Ai confini della realtà. Il gameplay è molto lineare, decisamente in secondo piano e solo come supporto alla trama. La durata è molto breve, ma è possibile vedere come le capacità narrative (e tecniche) dell'autore si sono sviluppate durante tutta la serie, arrivando a poter raccontare piccole brevi storie di paura con un'ottima maestria. Personalmente questa serie mi piace un sacco e, dato il costo contenuto per ogni singolo gioco, consiglio a tutti quelli che sono cresciuti con i punta e clicca negli anni '90 e con i piccoli brividi di dargli una possibilità

More of a visual novel than its previous titles but had the most gripping story so far. Had me hooked from beginning to end and actually surprised me in the way that it ended. I enjoyed all the characters and how they acted all made sense. It is quite short so it is perfect for an evening of getting immersed in the story.
Just know it is not so much of a point and click adventure game compared to their other titles. The most 'complicated' puzzle is at the start of the game which is combining some items. Most of the game is just story. If you're not into that then skip.
A fantatic creepy short story that showcases mental illness with great empathy but also
warts and all. The reveal at the end caught me by surprise. I love all the little details that slowly paint a portrait of a small rural town in washington and its people. Great protagonist with flaws and heart. A great short horror story.
Toujours aussi bon. Je pense dorenavant avoir fini tous les jeux a ce jour. C'est vraiment format twilight zone des annees 50 en format jeu. Histoire courte, avec un scenario tirant sur le fantastique. Pas de casse tete ou autre, on suit l'histoire comme un bon vieil episode de cette 4eme dimension. Un pixel art minimum au service d'un bon episode bien pense sans effet graphiques digne des blockbusters actuels ou en on prend plein la vue pour masquer un scenar maigrelet, ici c'est l'inverse. Je le redis, si vous z'etes fan de cette ancienne mais geniale serie qu'est Twilight Zone, vous aimerez tous ces titres.
Une pépite dans son genre.
La compréhension de ce qu'il se passe se fait petit à petit jusqu'à l'écran de fin, et les avertissements en début de jeu sont mérités.
Le meilleur épisode de la série avec le second, dans un tout autre style d'histoire. Vivement le suivant !
I like this game, is so history incrible.
Essa história é muito impactante e te prende muito fácil. As artes estão muito bonitas e especiais, apesar do teor pesado. A cada cena você fica mais interessado e a trilha sonora ajuda muito nessa imersão! Não ter um auto save me prejudicou um pouco pq precisei quitar no meio da história e não tinha me ligado nesse detalhe, mas como é um jogo curto não foi custoso reiniciar.

The 5th entry in the Midnight Scenes series is slightly different from its predecessors. Actions the player can take are much more restricted, making this rather an interactive movie and not a point'n'click adventure game.
Also the story takes a long time to pick up steam. The parts about the poor protagonist's plight drag on for a bit too long imho and the horror elements are too scarce. At least in comparison to the other episodes.
However, I was still intrigued by the story and wanted to find out what its ending would be - and it didn't disappoint!
Music, sounds, and art style are worth to be praised as well!
This is a huge deviation from the other Midnight Scenes episodes but I am all the more happy that Navarro and Granell tried something new story-wise that still fits their fantastic anthology series “Midnight Scenes”. (I won’t go too much into it, since this is a game where the less you know about the story, the better it works)
As a pixel point & click game, it has a lot of different small things to do. This is more an explorative game where you basically further the narration, so there’s not super hard puzzles just a well-paced story that you uncover alongside the protagonist.
I love how unique all the character designs feel, even small details add to the world and people’s motivations make sense and feel real instead of just aiding the plot.
I really enjoyed this and think that the length without a save option is just fine, although any longer episode would probably need at least one chapter save but since the pacing of the storytelling was impeccable, it felt like a breeze and I didn’t want to stop in between.

四月份玩的游戏了，游戏流程大概在一百分钟左右，无简中，但是基本上不影响游玩。很优秀的心理恐怖解密，故事讲得很棒，[spoiler] 特别是最后死光光的画面有点震撼我 [/spoiler]。没有[spoiler] 多结局 [/spoiler]的以讲述故事为主的一款游戏，说实话玩过一遍还是会有点发毛，[strike] 说不定是我胆子小 [/strike]。
Chef's Kiss. This game perfectly scratches my 16 bit art, horror genre scratch with twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Around 2 hours of game play. Way cheaper than going to the movies with being immersed. This is the 4th game that I have played from them (the other three were on my husband's account) and CANNOT wait for the next one. I might just re-buy the games on my own account so I can play them all again and again.
