It feels like a 10-minute winter sealed in a glass jar. Open it, and a chill spills out. Close it, and the cold still clings to the skin. Brief and a bit rough, yet its quiet screen leaves a bigger, clearer echo.
I'm not sure how to rate this. There's a strongly developed thesis the devs are working with but I don't think the execution was very well done. There's very little interaction with the environment and the graphics are archaic. The premise is strong but I don't think the content of the game lived up to it. Unfortunately, I think a negative here is my final thought but with the caveat that if the topic interests you enough you might find something worthwhile here.

It crashes quite frequently with '3D hardware reset failure' errors. Aside from the technical issues, the game tries to take on heavy themes but fails spectacularly at delivering a message at the end. The story is too convoluted and it's frustrating to try to piece together nonsense.

寄り道含めて1時間もしないで一通りは回れるボリュームでした。
難解な表現が目立ちますが、生きることに限界を見たような、心が弱っている（いた）人に刺さるものがあるように思います。
ゲーム中にできることもやることも少ないのですが、ゲーム体験ベースの詩文と見ればお得な値段に感じました。
ただ、これは普通にゲームとして遊ぶ目的で買っても満足できないでしょうね。
It is sadly just a bad walking simulator. It looks like garbage, has typos and the way it approaches the subject of suicide, self harm and cancer is just really weird, which is a shame since you could probably make a really good and emotional game based on these subjects.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Если вам удалось через него "прогрызться", то вам дадут на выбор две концовки. Если авторы хотели показать философский взгляд о последних днях жизни умирающего человека, то у них не получилось. Игра вызывает только раздражение.

Story:
You play as a person who comes back from the doctors office and learn that you will only have three days left to live. Those three days are spent reflecting as nothing you can do will change the outcome of what's to come.
I will say that Gone in November has an interesting premise, but it's execution is bizarre and just plainly bad. There's tons of block of text you have to read and it's not easy to do, cause it moves fast, it's poorly spaced and disappears before it you get a chance to properly read anything. Also the way it's written is confusing and makes the story absolutely non-sensical. A simple concept like this, should not be this convoluted.
Graphics:
Visually Gone In November looks pretty mediocre. Your apartment just looks like an asset flip and the streets outside just look empty and barren and while the game quickly goes for the surreal visual route it just comes off as cheap, cause everything looks so jagged.
Certain textures are low quality and just look like they're not loading in correctly. Also while I like surreal games, I like it when the surreal visuals have a meaning, but it feels like they're just throwing the same model like cactuses cause it looks weird visually instead of it seemingly having any meaning.
Audio:
The audio design for the most part is fine, but nothing too amazing. You're mostly listening to your footsteps and a few others, but mostly just yourself walking. It sounds fine and like a normal footstep, instead of a heavy clunking noise you would normally hear in a game like this.
The soundtrack is also decent, nothing too interesting, but it does help towards the somber tone of the game and although they're nothing special, the tracks themselves actually help out the game, which is sad cause there's not much of it, mostly the game is super quiet.
Gameplay:
Gone in November is basically a walking simulator, where you read an incredible amount of text. Actually you do (or try to) more reading than walking, so there's not much to talk about here. I will say that the controls themselves feel a bit too heavy than I like.
It feels like your character has a bit of weight to him and controlling him feels weirdly sluggish and considering the only thing you do is walk around and read and you can't even do both right, is just poor design from every point of view.
Verdict:
Gone In November is too ambitious for it's own good. It takes an interesting concept, but has nothing to really say about it. The writing is poor, it's convoluted and just poorly designed in every way. There's definitely worse walking simulators out there, but that doesn't mean you should play this either.

Attempting to tackle serious subject matter but struggling to make a clear point places this game's end result closer to mockery of the subject matter than any intended result.
Gone In November is a more-art-than-game attempt at making a walking sim/first person adventure game to tackle and solve the very serious problem of depression. It's unclear how a crappy video game could do such a thing, and this is so badly made if you showed it to someone who was depressed it would only make things worse. I've never seen such a lazy half-baked attempt at texturing as we see on the low poly models here. Like there's a shop outside your house and the developer just took a picture of some shop window and posted that on one edge of the "box" and called it a day. What a joke.
Trying to address social issues through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. Game developers are not professionals in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this can cause far more harm than good. It's my opinion that it's improper to use video games to push political or social agendas. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing social problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. People suffering from health issues or other social problems should seek out professional help rather than going to crap shovelware video games attempting to get sales by exploiting such problems for their own benefit, as is the case here.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.
The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The assets are badly made and sometimes not the correct proportions/aspect ratio. Some things aren't textured at all, others have muddy, possibly asset flipped textures on them. The game looks ugly and phoned in as a result of this poor execution.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Gone In November is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

It was fun, i played it 2 times in case there is a different ending based on the choice but there wasnt. That disappointed me a little. I generally didnt like the open ending thing to much.

El juego está bien ambientado, la banda sonora ayuda bastante y se transmiten bastante bien los pensamientos del protagonista.
Lo malo: hay algunos bugs visuales y las hitboxes de los objetos con los que se debe interactuar están mal hechas.

Este jogo é bastante interessante pois aborda, e muito bem, a temática do suicídio. Aborda tão bem que até me apeteceu suicidar depois de jogar isto.
[i] Gone In November[/i] – симулятор ходьбы на 15 минут, рассказывающий про депрессию. Вы попросту идете по линейной локации и читаете текст. В конце вам предлагают выбрать концовку.
Для без того скучной игры техническая часть могла бы стать спасением. Но что мы имеем: дизайн дома, сделанный словно в [i] Minecraft[/i]. Локации в иллюзиях сделаны и того проще. Вишенкой на торте становятся раздражающие шаги.

About nothing really comes together in this game.
I don't know if the state of the game itself should support the theme of the game by having "I don't care" and "It's not worth the work" written all over it, but even if it would, then it's still really poorly executed.
Ugly textures slapped on planes, z-fighting, appearing text not timed correctly, memory notices go away before you can read them, the chat does tell you nothing, a core item being taken without the model being removed, interactions sometimes don't trigger.... and the list goes on and on.
I love indie games, games dealing with bad emotions and walking simulators in general, but this one i can't recommend.

"Gone In November" ist ein First-Person Exploration Spiel.
"Gone In November" ist ein sehr kurzes Spiel, in dem es um ein sehr ernstes Thema geht. Denn wir spielen jemanden, der weiß, daß er bald sterben wird. Seine tödliche Krankheit wird ihn bald besiegt haben und er erlebt in seiner Wohnung die letzten Tage seines Lebens, geplagt von Depressionen und Suizidgedanken.
Leider ist die Umsetzung dieses tiefgründigen Themas erschreckend platt, banal und zudem noch hochgradig weinerlich ausgefallen. Auch technisch ist das Ganze mit viel Good Will nur als peinlich zu bezeichnen.
Allein schon die technische Umsetzung ist grottig. Schlechte Texturen in häßlichen Umgebungen, dazu noch generische Soundeffeckte.
Aber was machen wir denn eigentlich in den 20 Minuten Spielzeit. Erstmal lesen wir Zettel und arbeiten To-do-Listen ab, auf denen zum Beispiel steht, daß wir Pillen nehmen, die Waschmaschine anstellen oder uns um die Kakteen kümmern sollen. Doch bald geraten wir in eine traumartige Umgebung, die extrem dazu neigt, zahlreiche Texte auf Boden und Wänden zu generieren. Die lesen wir brav und sind verwundert, nicht etwa über den Inhalt, sondern über die nichtssagenden Allgemeinplätze, die wir da lesen müssen. Die Situation des bald bevorstehenden Todes ist sicher eine extrem schwierige und die folgende Depression schwer zu ertragen, alles gestalterische Niveau zu verlieren und sich mit banal dümmlichen Texten zu behelfen, ist aber auch keine Lösung.
Toll, daß ein Titel ein solches Thema anfaßt, erschreckend wie wenig es der Situation mit der notwendigen Selbstreflektion gerecht wird. Mir ist bewußt, daß es nur Fragmente darstellen soll, Fetzen, die irgendwie übrigbleiben. Wenn diese Fetzen allerdings keine Relevanz haben, wirds zäh.

This game reminded me of "A Beginner's Guide". I thought that game was ok, but this one is less than ok. I just wish there was an option to kill yourself in the beginning just to get it over with. I know these things take time, and maybe the developer needed to do this as part of a healing process, or maybe it's complete fiction. If it's the latter, then it's quite disappointing. If it's the former, then hey, do what you gotta do to get through life. I'm just glad I only paid $.49 for it. Play the game, or don't. This decision won't make any impact on your life.

Boring garbage.
Incredibly slow game, vague story that didn't manage to get me interested for even one second. And the game doesn't run full play, and the cursor keeps moving off the screen which makes it almost impossible to select anything.
Dev's really didn't finish this game, don't waste money on it.
(keep in mind that I didn't play much of the game because I found it so boring, if you're less sensitive to boringness you may want to give it a try if others say it turns out to have a great story mid- or lategame)

Gone In November se apresenta como um simulador de caminhada imersivo, prometendo uma narrativa comovente em meio a uma atmosfera depressiva. No entanto, minha jornada através deste jogo revelou-se uma experiência decepcionante em muitos aspectos.
Controlando um personagem sem rosto, mergulhamos na história de um paciente com uma doença terminal. A premissa inicial despertou meu interesse, mas logo me deparei com uma série de desafios. Primeiramente, os gráficos irregulares e pouco harmoniosos se tornaram um obstáculo visual, constantemente incomodando minha experiência de jogo.
Em relação à narrativa, fui confrontado com uma história que falhou em causar um impacto significativo. Como apreciador de tramas trágicas e desoladoras, esperava ser envolvido por emoções profundas. No entanto, Gone In November não conseguiu capturar essa essência, deixando-me desinteressado e desconectado da jornada do protagonista. Ao final, a sensação de vazio e a falta de conclusão adequada apenas agravaram minha frustração.
Para aqueles em busca de uma experiência verdadeiramente envolvente e comovente, recomendo vivamente investir em Dear Esther. Este simulador de caminhada bem executado supera Gone In November em todos os aspectos, oferecendo uma narrativa poderosa, um cenário deslumbrante e uma imersão cativante.

A short (about 20 min) walking simulator that covers the subjects of illness, depression and suicide.
To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of this game. It's a cheap game so you can't really compare it to more expensive titles like Dear Esther for example.
The graphics are not good. I have no idea why the developer decided to go with this engine, perhaps to give it some kind of indie feeling. Ultimately, it did not really bother me.
Personally I think the story of the game was hard to follow. A lot of texts are thrown at you, it's hard to figure out who says what + there are also a lot of things written on walls/floors etc. all without voice acting.
There were also some parts in the game I did like and it looks like the developer put some love into creating this game. Therefor, combined with the cheap price, I will recommend this game.
If anyone else beside the person who made this did this it would have been 100% better
Graphically and mechanically, this game does not have to much in the way of both of them however what the game lack is both of those departments, it 100% makes it up for in the story department crafting an emotional upsetting story that can leave you drained. The story is short however so I would suggest grabbjng it on discount. This game is an easy 4/5, it says what it needs to without it going on for too long.

Gone in November - это криворукий трэш, подкупающий лишь своей искренностью. Он создан упорным, но совершенно неумелым геймдизайнером, который не разбирался к тому же ни в правилах выстраивания нарратива, ни в том, как создавать атмосферу в играх. Мое отношение к проекту до сих пор остается крайне неоднозначным: рефандить его не хочется (по-своему он мне все же понравился), но и всерьез советовать его кому бы то ни было, особенно за деньги, просто нельзя. Посмотрите прохождение на YouTube и оцените сами - может быть, он вас чем-то зацепит (после того, как в GiN сыграл один популярный ютубер, она на какое-то время стала известной, но быстро забылась). Если не зацепит, в этом нет ничего удивительного - вот почему.
Обычно видеоигра должна производить впечатление как отдельное произведение искусства. Gone in November способна вызвать эмоции только если рассматривать ее в контексте, который предлагает разработчик: это игра, созданная с ноля (судя по всему, на C++) без использования готовых ассетов, передающая эмоциональное состояние и мысли ее автора в сложный для него период жизни, связанный с лечением от смертельно опасного заболевания. В частности, квартира главгероя смоделирована на основании квартиры, в которой жил разработчик (по крайней мере, на это указывают фотографии из "Дополнительных материалов" - материалы эти, правда, на удивление скупы и абсолютно точно не стоят заявленной цены на Steam).
Трудно сказать, насколько автобиографичной на самом деле является GiN (судя по всему, в ней довольно много художественных дополнений), но если оценивать ее как частичку более крупной истории - как продукт переживаний ее создателя, боровшегося с тяжелой болезнью - то она вызывает куда больше эмоций, чем как "проект сам по себе". Если же допустить, что никто ничем не болел и что весь сюжет является выдумкой от начала до конца, шарм Gone in November тут же испаряется - перед нами остается короткий, кривой, некрасивый, плохо написанный, почти бессюжетный, безатмосферный и вообще никак не способный впечатлить walking simulator с фейспалмовыми потугами на глубину и филасафскими рассуждениями о вечном.
Ходилки по дому с выполнением заданий из списка (открывается при нажатии на кнопку Tab) не вызывают совершенно никаких эмоций. Попытки автора создать "хоррорную" сцену в рамках ночного кошмара главгероя и вовсе веселят: комната, заполненная кактусами в горшочках с дюжиной одинаковых картин на стенах, могла бы вызвать у игрока страх или хотя бы тревогу, если бы в ней было подходящее освещение вкупе с соответствующим, хорошо продуманным и кропотливо проработанным звуковым сопровождением. Отсутствие обоих факторов превращают ее в крайне ленивую сюрню, которую мог бы придумать даже дошкольник - впрочем, возможно, я ошибаюсь, и ни музыка, ни освещение не сделали бы кучу моделек кактусов и картин из GiN страшнее, чем они представлены в игре. Ходилки по дорожке из белых точек в черной комнате снова не вызывают ничего, кроме раздражения - а больше в Gone in November ничего и нет! Перед нами две двери, выбираете любую; потом еще немножко ходилок по дому, и игра заканчивается!
Упаднические обвинения врачей в том, что они лишь дерут с больных деньги, ожидая, пока те погибнут, как и светлые воспоминания о прошлом, сменяющиеся тяжелым выбором - терпеть страдания дальше или окончить их краткой ужасной агонией - подаются через лишенные изящества строчки текста, написанные, кажется, не человеком, а деревом. Возможно, именно так и ощущает себя некоторые (далеко не все) больные, осознающие неизбежность скорой кончины - но на руку повествованию это не играет, да и особых впечатлений у игрока вызвать не может. Если эти фразы нам скажет живой человек, они будут звучать пугающе хладнокровно и отстраненно. Если мы читаем их на экране монитора от лица персонажа-пустышки, о котором мы совершенно ничего не знаем кроме того, что он чем-то там болен - это попросту не работает!
Даже если мы поверим автору в том, что он стремился передать в игре свои ощущения - с задачей трансляции этих ощущений игроку Gone in November попросту не справляется. Единственная причина, почему я не совершил рефанд - я верю, что раздавленный интенсивными эмоциями человек, не привыкший выражать их в произведениях искусства и не обладающий ораторским красноречием, попросту не сможет перенести их в видеоигру во всей полноте - да еще и так, чтобы задеть за живое игроков. Если он не обладает ни опытом геймдизайнера, ни опытом сценариста, он может написать программу на С++, но из-за недостатка навыков будет неспособен грамотно использовать в ней те художественные приемы, которые, как говорят, "трогают людей за душу" (это именно приемы, им можно научиться - для этого и существуют учебники по сценарному мастерству, написанию диалогов, выстраиванию нарратива в целом и т.д.). Эта трагическая неспособность выразить все ощущения, которые испытывает человек, стоя на краю смерти, вызывает во мне сочувствие и подкупает меня, когда я думаю о Gone in November как о проекте с огромным потенциалом, но полностью проваленной реализацией.
Однако, увы, история о том, как переживший смертельно опасное заболевание человек оказывается неспособен выразить столько лет мучившие его эмоции в видеоигре, на деле оказывается куда драматичнее, чем сама видеоигра, которую он сделал. Gone in November совершенно неспособна впечатлить в отрыве от этой истории - а раз так, то и тратить на нее время нет никакого смысла (разумеется, если только вы не желаете поддержать автора финансово).
It's not really a game, but just a short story. Picked it up on Humble for like 25 cents so it's hard to say it wasn't worth it, but it was kind of just meh. The story is said to be about depression, but the narrator is so specifically depressed and doesn't share his emotions in a broader way that it's not something that's really relatable unless you have lymphoma and a girlfriend in a wheelchair. So sure, I was looking for an artful story about the human condition and got a short abstract on one human's condition. Not what I wanted, but it wasn't a waste of time so I'm going to thumbs up it because the developer clearly cares.
This game made me depressed.
Depressed that I didn't donate the 20 cents I wasted on this game to starving children in Africa instead.
Short but intense game
This game hit me in a certain spot that I cannot seem to explain unless you play it for yourself, the story is very touching and sad and you have to have the mentality to hold yourself in playing this. Please do not play this game if you struggle with suicidal thoughts or depression, it is very serious. Thank you for this amazing experience <3
