I have no idea the hell I've played, but now I feel spiritual af.
When I initially bought this, I played a little, didn't quite know what I was doing, and put it down. Having picked it up again in the last couple of weeks I now realise that not knowing was the whole point. This game tasks you with exploring a beautiful and mysterious world, slowly unraveling the mechanics behind it, picking up hints of story, it has a dreamtime-like feel in the lore and visual style of the map you'll expand as you venture further.
I haven't completed the game, I don't know if I even will, but I've already thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
The game may look like a top down walking simulator, but do be warned that there are times when reaction times may be important to avoid threats. I don't know whether there might be ways to explore without needing fast reactions, it does seem like a game that could benefit from an easy/god mode to make it more accessible to more casual or less able bodied players.
I'm wittering, this is a lovely game that makes a point of letting you learn its secrets on your own.

I had Future Unfolding on my wish list for several years, eventually buying it, then not playing it for even longer. Now I finally played it, I can't remember why I ever wanted to buy it.
This is essentially Nethack: In A Forest (Except You Have No Weapons). You randomly walk around a randomly-generated maze that seems like it's outside except actually it's all little rooms surrounded by cliffs and doorways leading to other rooms. You get chased by monsters that one-shot kill you and send you back to the start of the room. Eventually you stumble upon the exit. And then you go to the next dungeon of little rooms-connected-by-doorways.
The game is ostensibly about running free in nature, but because the landscapes are all walled-in and claustrophobic, it never really captures the grandeur of actually being out in nature. There are some animals you can find and occasionally follow or manipulate to go to the next place, but it's hardly a puzzle game because everything is procgen so it's just an exercise in spamming the spacebar on anything that looks mildly different from the other million things to see if something useful happens. (Usually nothing happens.)
This kind of game could be meditative, I suppose, if you have the kind of personality that feels the need to visit every square inch of a minimap just for the pleasure of having it mapped out. But there's just not very much to find there. I agree with the reviewer who said you'll know after the first level if this is for you, because the second level, and the third, are exactly the same. Do not go in expecting a puzzle game, or something with a well-paced narrative arc. There might be a story here, but I doubt it after only being given a couple of lines of tedious poetry after an hour of "exploring" (read: randomly running around till the exit appeared). Not recommended.
Вот это я понимаю инди - что-то новое и не такое как другие, ну и игра само собой далеко не для всех.
Понравился визуал - он и минималистичный, но не обычный, но на самом деле это и единственное что понравилось в игре. А как исследование окружающего мира геймплей скучный - тут надо просто ходить, искать активности и убегать от опасности в лице волков и это собственно вся игра. Погружению в мир ещё и мешает музыка - она тут раздражающая, это какое-то пиликанье электронное, похожее на срежет. Хотелось просто выключить её и слушать звуки окружающего мира, но громкость в ноль делается только в опциях, а выйдя из них этот "эмбиент" снова слышен. Нежелательно устанавливать игру и на жёсткий диск - при весе в 160 мб игра долго устанавливалась и диск в полную загружала. То же самое и при запуске, хард нагружается в 100%, что влияет сильно на работу других приложений и ещё начинаешь слышать его работу физически, прямо скрежет ощутимо слышимый, что можно подумать что ему сейчас придёт конец. Проверял несколько раз перезапуская игру и это повторялось, в итоге перенёс игру на твердотельный накопитель и от греха подальше и игра стабильней стала работать, но не избавила от подлагиваний периодических (довольно частых). Возможно так негативно на работу диска влияет процесс генерации мира из 14 тыс (PNG-ешных байтных) файлов содержащихся в папке игры. Из отрицательного ещё и достижения, потому что сделать "идеальную игру" крайне сложно плюс муторно, так как надо исследовать в сгенерированных мирах (коих десять) каждый уголок и комнату, а счётчика исследователя в игре нет и узнать все ли ты локации посетил никак нельзя, а достижение даётся в конце игры. Из "оригинальных" (пришибленных) достижений имеется и медитация, когда ничего жмать не надо и от бездействия персонаж садится в медитационную позу, и так надо будет прождать 60 минут (но игра функционирует в фоновом режиме, что облегчает выполнение), остальные достижения уже хотя бы к геймплею прикручены.

I can see some potential here (or maybe I see aspects that were carefully placed so the game looks like it has potential), but my experience was just VERY disappointing at the end of the day:
- You start with no goal or indication of what to do, you just explore aimlessly, but the world is procedurely generated, so you end up just walking around A LOT, and you end up backtracking A LOT more than doing anything else.
- You can explore the map off the beaten path, and each world is HUGE! But exploring is not rewarding at all. You have to spend a lot of time just seeing more and more trees until you reach a point of interest.
- The random order at which stuff are thrown at you make the mechanics too obstruse. For example, you find the rabbit soon in the game and it can create a bush, but I only found out a use for the bush on the 2nd world (and each world takes a LONG time), and only knew of that use because I looked it up.
- There's no real story. Everything is just too vague. Sometimes you find a creature that will tell you random vague self-help messages totally out of context or order, and that's about it. Throughtout my whole experience, I saw no purpose in my explorations.
- The game calls itself an "action adventure". There's no real action. This is more a walking simulator.
- This game is INSANELY repetitive. You walk around A LOT (I can't stress this enough), only to find a procedurely generated obstacle you've probably faced before, with some little variants that don't feel different at all to be honest.
- You can interact with animals, and some of them wil lhelp you a bit, but barely. Enemies are either very easy to avoid or really annoying, depending on the amount they cram into a given area. Also, there are some plant interactions that made no sense at all to me, I still have no idea of what they do. Everything is very obscure and make little sense. There's no feeling of reward in trying stuff out.
- Since you spend most of your time running through woods, it REALLY sucks that (1) you have stamina for running and (2) bumping into the trees will slow you down. You're just making the game artificially longer.
- Deaths mean little to your progress, but they're cheap, and sometimes they force you to backtrack a LARGE area. For example, you take the wrong turn, you die, Use the wrong teleporter, you die.
- Whenever I finished covering an area on the map, and then I saw the size of the next and figured the world was even larger than I'd expected, I just felt annoyed "ugh, more ground to walk over", instead of "great, more interesting stuff to explore!", because there's nothing interesting to explore, seriously!
Basically, this "game" is really uninteresting, boring, and repetitive. I've played for 5 hours and it felt like 15, And I didn't even finish world 2, which was dragging way too long and felt like it was 3x as large as world 1.
There's no sugar-coating, Future Unfolding is just a plain experience that looks pretentious enough to make you think "oh, I think there's something here", but actually there's nothing. Nothing. Maybe the whole point of the message here is that "life is meaningless", in which case, "yeah, that's obvious, but I'd rather have fun while I'm at it".
Don't even bother!

Великолепная игра, которая понравится, к сожалению, не всем. Разработчики из Spaces of Play UG, создали интересный самобытный мир, в котором никто не подскажет куда идти и что делать и тебе останется лишь самому исследовать местные миры, пытаясь понять что же здесь происходит. Под миром здесь понимается разделённый на участки фрагмент поверхности, который необходимо исследовать, чтобы перейти в следующий мир, найдя "портал". Всего надо исследовать 10 миров разного размера (за время моей игры в мирах было от 4 до 13 участков). Пройдя мир вернуться в него нельзя, но зато его можно перезапустить, если что-то пошло не так или не понравилось и сгенерировать новый. Уровни здесь генерируются процедурно, поэтому почти всегда перед тобой будет что-то новое, но за свои 2 прохождения я наталкивался на схожие участки миров, только размещённые под другим углом.
Изначально вся карта мира скрыта, но в результате блужданий она постепенно открывается игроку. Идти можно в любом направлении, но не факт, что выбранное изначально направление приведёт тебя к нужному месту, поэтому часто приходится пробегать одни и те же участки несколько раз, благо здесь есть телепорты. Чем больше миров ты посетишь, чем больше новых механик освоишь, тем интереснее станет продолжать изучать пространство вокруг тебя.
В игре есть друзья, враги и существа от которых можно узнать информацию о местном мироздании. Все враги имеют разную тактику нападения, поэтому наверняка ты умрёшь несколько раз за прохождение, когда будешь впервые с ними встречаться и пока на некоторых уровнях не поймешь как от них можно спастись (отбиваться тут нельзя). Друзья также помогают по разному и скорее всего ты не сразу сообразишь, как можно использовать бегающее за тобой повсюду животное.
Огромный плюс и он же огромный минус (для кого-то) игры - это отсутствие подсказок. До всего нужно дойти своей головой и в принципе мне это удалось, но была пара моментов, когда полностью не понимал, что нужно делать и только беспорядочное тыкание во всё подряд помогло узнать некоторые игровые механики.
Графика и звук в игре на высоте, поэтому исследовать миры приятно и интересно.
Рекомендую Future Unfolding любителям излазить игровые миры вдоль и поперёк и самостоятельно разобраться в игровых механиках. Если это не для вас, то лучше проходите мимо, чтобы не писать негативные комментарии.
i love the mood of this game so much. the overheard art style with heavy use of shadows really add to that feeling like the sun is setting and you should be getting home, but you're lost in the woods and can't find your way home. it really represents both the strange beauty and dangers of nature well. i often compare it to Proteus, which may have better sound design, but represents nature in a bit of a flat one-dimensional way otherwise. this really feels like a world you're immersing yourself in - one that's both scary and beautiful at the same time, like the real world.
anyway, a really memorable experience overall - one that's hard to describe in words. i often recommend it to friends. my one complaints is the progression is a bit repetitive/a lot of the worlds kind of resemble each other. so maybe it's worth just playing in pieces and taking a break for awhile between them. and you also don't need to play the full game to get the experience.

I just played through this game. I don't think I can recommend it, though.
First, though, the game seems to have its speed tied to framerate, and the framerate is really variable on my computer (ranging from ~50fps to ~300fps when playing the game), so the character would sometimes be sluggish and sometimes zoom across the map. This, plus the saturated colours of the game, gave me motion sickness.
I have no clue what the story of the game is, other than perhaps a vague theme of "nature should be in balance".
Gameplay-wise, the game doesn't explain itself very well; there's little tutorial other than showing prompts for the controls at the very start. I feel like there's more to the game than what I managed to figure out.
The game claims to encourage exploration, but the forests are generally dense enough that trying to move through them is a chore. Yet you're required to do that when exploring, which poses the question "why are they so dense that they act as a deterrent?".
The deadliness of the wolves, snakes, and bees, especially given that I often found hordes of them placed right upon completion of a puzzle, felt like cheap deaths all around. The puzzles themselves weren't generally that deep either (though I'm not sure this is that much of a flaw). The game is procedurally generated, apparently, something I didn't realise until I got stuck and decided to restart the level.
If you can look past all the flaws, then what you have is a pretty cool exploration game, but its flaws are really dragging it down.
I'm going to go throw up now.
Honestly kinda torn with this game.
Future Unfolding is an odd game in that you'll see most people's experiences are positive, but the all of the negative reviews share the same problem; The game is excessively vague, and the gameplay is extremely repetitive. My main issue with Future Unfolding is that, like most Indie games, it relies on breaking away from the mould, but this also usually comes with a gimmick.
The gimmick here is that Future Unfolding, is a very predictable, and monotonous style of play, that requires you - ideally - to fully explore your surroundings to fill in your map, and then use certain mechanics to solve puzzles. As there are collectables and secrets hidden in the map, you will spend more time than you want to scouting around instead of accomplishing goals. The ambiguity and vague map layouts will have you finding trail after trail, and only when you reach the end you may realise you were following your main objective the entire way. For the completionist, this means you're going to be backtracking a lot to fill voids on your map. The visuals are unique but they lose their charm pretty quickly when you realise how empty the game actually is. Outside of key areas on the map, there's very little to find, and most areas feel very cut+paste with any real personality. Pair all of this on top of a sprint system that you can only enhance by finding special white flowers, expect the game to be drawn out a little.
The puzzles, whilst not too obtuse or demanding, focus around core mechanics that you have to discover yourself. Eventually they'll build up to be more complex, but the indeterminate story begs you to ask why you're even completing any of these puzzles. Pair this with some rather, punitive gameplay features, whilst I never felt overly 'pressured' I felt more frustrated when set back from being killed by a hostile creature, in which you can expect to die to them, a lot. Most of them have the ability to one shot, encouraging you to be increasingly agile in encounters, wherein upon death, you will lose everything you've gained, mainly, your sprint duration boosts.
Most people here speak of finding some, profound meaning behind the game, some greater purpose, something spiritually lifting or some kind of revelation. In my short experience with this game (I didn't finish it) I found hints of what could be some intellectually engaging commentary, but the presentation felt overly superficial and pretentious. This is where I found first impressions to be extremely crucial. The game, due to its flaws in game design, couldn't reel me in beyond the first two hours, especially when I noticed that I had only completed a third of the game by that point, and I had already grown immensely tired of the formula the game was enforcing onto me.
I'm usually pretty open and engaging to indie projects like this, but this was a game that really seemed to communicate to me, that the beauty here is only skin deep. Maybe there was something at the end of the tunnel, maybe there was some wisdom to be found amongst the spirit animals and winding mountain paths snaking through the pine forests, but I guess I'll never know, because for everything this game does right, namely the visuals, it fell short in every other aspect, and it couldn't give me anything to make me truly care to invest potentially 10+ hours into a game predominantly involving running nigh aimlessly around a map, just to have a sense of direction.
For an action/adventure game, this couldn't be any more of an overstatement. Action doesn't exist, and usually adventures come with some kind of motivation and/or purpose, neither of which you'll really find here.
Based on my experience, no more than a 4-5/10. Absolutely, positively, not anywhere remotely worth $30. Pick up on either extremely heavy discount, or wrap your head around some other games like Dear Esther or Gone Home, which whilst just as vague, are far more rewarding.
I can do exploration games. I found this one though not to be that appealing and it's very repetitive.

It's like a dream. Nothing seems to make sense, and it doesn't have to, but somehow it does. It's very Berlin in that manner.

It's not an easy game to try and sell you on. You'll need to like exploration for the most part. Game play mostly involves searching through almost all the map (randomly generated) to find those key elements to progress. The game gives you next to no guiding information but for some reason figuring out the way forward through some trial and error worked pretty well.
Fair to say if you don't like it after the first or second level, it won't grow on you. The game play loop/levels are pretty repetitious and I could only play one or two levels at a time before quitting out. However I actually enjoyed booting it up, throwing on some of my own music/podcast and knocking out a level in an unwind your brain kind of vibe.
I'll give it a technical thumbs up, it ran fine, was artistically something a bit different and I enjoyed it enough for what it is. I grabbed it for 90% off so that probably helped my opinion on it. At full price, I'm not sure I could recommend it. Great for short play bursts but it's clearly not a game for everyone.

I totally recommend. But you need to love exploration.
I got stuck in the very first level, after endlessly wandering around to find every nook and cranny. So I watched a playthrough to see whether I had overlooked any mechanics. Didn't learn anything relevant. So I reset the level and tried again. Again wandering around endlessly through a huge procedural level, again to get stuck in the end.
I did think I solved some puzzles that destroyed some rocks, but not enough rocks were removed to actually clear a path. Was that a bug or did I do it wrong? Having an "unsutck" button and a "regenerate level" button in the menu makes me constantly wonder whether the level is bugged or I overlooked the solution to the puzzle and that's incredibly frustrating in a puzzle game.
Also, systematically covering all of the map just gets boring after a while, especially since the graphics are pretty, but constantly pretty in the exact same way. The 10,000th pretty tree isn't doing much anymore, I'm afraid.

Это игровое исследование, неспешный экшен, начав которое, игрок очень мало знает об окружении и о целях своего пребывания в представленном мире, и это, как ни странно, идет на пользу безумной атмосфере игры. Только вот при неправильном начальном настрое игрок может забросить игру, не поняв её.
Мне кажется, что эта довольно странная игра предназначена для законченных интровертов, которые могут долго смотреть на один предмет и подмечать малейшие нюансы освещения, формы и цвета.
Игра приветствует игрока минимализмом во всем, кроме красочности мира. Минималистичное главное меню и минимум управления – только четыре кнопки передвижения wasd, кнопка взаимодействия, и ещё есть кнопка турбоускорения. И всё, никаких подсказок или объяснений, что происходит вокруг и чего надо добиться в игре. Иди вперед, смелый герой, дерзай...
Игра вводит тебя – как любят выражаться английские авторы – в трип или психоделическое состояние, в котором ты наблюдаешь больше за собой, чем за окружающим. Тобой овладевает некое потустороннее состояние, когда краски становятся ярче, а переходы между ними четче, а откуда доносятся какие-то странные звуки. Быть может это голоса?
В игре используется феномен синестезии, когда звук передает цветовую палитру продвижения, её скорость, а яркий искрящийся след заменяет шорох шагов.
Мне показалось, что в игре возможно даже изменение скорости течения времени. И казалось бы неспешное долгое передвижение по локации оказывается всего парой минут игрового времени, а краткая остановка, чтобы разгадать очередную топографическую загадку, длится полчаса. Но всё это субъективное мнение.
В путешествиях по локациям можно повстречать кучу обычных и странных животных, некоторых можно использовать в своих целях, а некоторые, наоборот, могут использовать тебя в качестве еды. Есть также необычные существа которые преподнесут тебе философские сентенции об истории этого мира, или просто ляпнут - Мне одиноко, я хочу пойти собой.
Топологические загадки, которые надо решить, должны вроде как решить общую загадку прохождения, но выходит, что задумка игры это просто исследовать тайны и секреты процедурно сгенерированного мира, без определенного финала.

Сюрреалистический мир с необычными, кислотными цветами, интересные загадки, сама концепция игры, хорошая реиграбельность.

Не совсем хороший подбор локаций, некоторые слишком пустынны, и, видимо, служат мостиком между ключевыми локациями, непонятный финал прохождения. Также стоит отметить очень высокий порог вхождения в игру, не все продолжают играть в неё, поиграв немного, о чем говорить, если самую легкодостижимую ачивку имеют всего 27% игроков? А пройти до конца прохождения смогли меньше семи процентов заходивших в игру?
И совсем уж напоследок, совет: Играть, вероятней, лучше с контролером, так как управлять героем на клавиатуре порой трудно и получается неуклюже, хотя можно.

Amo explorar o mapa e descobrir locais novos. As cores são lindas e a trilha emocionante.
O jogo provavelmente é esse simples que eu imaginava: um jogo de puzzles com tema de natureza e exploração.

A colourful, surreal playground that doesn't hold your hand, but trusts you to figure its systems out through your interactions with them. Also you can collect sheep.
It's a beautiful game about exploration, but it gets repetitive fast.

The biggest problem is in my opinion the procedural generation part. For such a game the most important point is exploring, ant thus it has to have a good level design. Procedural generation can't achieve that. I understand developer's will to increase replayability (poopular thing today), but in my opinion, the solution taken is not good for an exploration game.
To be concrete, game has to be rewarding for trying to find secrets, but this means, there has to be little of pointless paths and locations, but here generator creates them constantly.
Very marginally recomended, only to check out the great art, and not the gameplay.
Interesting concept, poorly communicated. The hours of running around isn't helped by the limited sprint or the one-shot mechanics of the enemies.
This is a really interesting game with beautiful art, a great soundtrack, and cool puzzles. I enjoyed being able to explore the world of Future Unfolding and getting to interact with cute animals. However, this game can get repetitive and frustrating as you keep playing, so I recommend playing this game in parts so you don't get too annoyed.

Beautiful exploration game... but only to a point. After about 1.5 hours it started to get frustrating and I spent a lot of time going in circles (and not the fun kind of circles). Recommending for how unique it is but I don't think I'll be putting any more time into it than I already have.
If you enjoy artsy indie games, this is the game for you.
I sadly wasn't entertained, what intrigue I had was quickly dashed by time consuming running around trying to find something that stood out. Once I found something, I eventually figured out what I had to do, but then I was again teleported to a new place to do more tedious running around.
I personally couldn't get enough out of the landscape or music to warrant my time being spent running from A-all-over-to-B to find the interesting parts of the game, I'm usually more capable of finding patience for games like these, but this wasn't one of them.

[*] Чесно кажучи, пройшовши цю гру, у мене й досі немає слів, щоб описати геймплей Future Unfolding. За весь внутрішньоігровий час я так і не зрозумів, який це жанр, але зрозумів, що він наближений до жанру «бродилки», де весь геймплей зосереджений на неквапливій прогулянці світом і пошуку захованих дрібниць. Але в цій грі майже немає захованих речей. Тут є лише певні сфери, що розкидані по різних закутках цього дивного світу. Зібравши всі сфери, ви відкриєте справжню кінцівку. У розпорядженні гравця є герой (звісно ж, під нашим керуванням), карта світу, яку потрібно заповнювати в процесі проходження, і кнопка дії, за допомогою якої можна осідлати дикого оленя або просто сполохати птахів з дерев.
На цьому керуванні, власне, і будується вся гра. Наприклад, головоломка з птахами: вам потрібно зігнати всіх птахів в одне місце. Щоб це зробити, доведеться постійно бігати біля дерев і натискати кнопку дії, поки не знайдете ту саму потрібну птицю.
Але сам геймплей, скоріше за все, захований десь у візуальному виконанні та цьому великому, невідомому для головного героя світі. Гра ніби пропонує вам самостійно знайти в ній геймплей. Мабуть, у цьому й полягає її основна «фішка».
[*] Титанічну роботу тут виконав арт-дизайнер проєкту. Усе виглядає неймовірно незвично й нереально красиво. Можливо, на скриншотах гра здаватиметься надто «кислотною», але в самій грі цього зовсім не помітно, адже вся вона – суцільний кислотний колір, який сприймається зовсім інакше в русі.

This relaxing, exploratory game is beautiful in a way no other game I've played mathches. The world is mysterious and you as you bumble your way trough exploring it you learn the odd, curious behaviors of the animals and what you can do when you ally with them. This game and RainWorld remind me of the hopes I had for Oddworld Abe games, RainWorld is the harsh, industrial side, and this game would be the side where you connect with a mystical natural world, which always holds more wonders for you to uncover
I love it when games present weird systems to the player with very little guidance to cultivate a sense of mystery. This goes beyond just presenting a mystery within the game, I'm talking about having important aspects of the game that need to be figured out with next to no explanations. First thing to come to mind would be Dark Souls, which made you work to figure out some of its systems and most of its lore. Betrayer might be a better example; What to do, and how to go around doing it? Well, it's up to you to find out. Night Shift was almost 100% this, but unfortunately no one played that.
The best thing is that this aura of mistery fits all of these games - it enhances and makes sense for them. It's not just broken logic, a bad translation or lack of budget for proper tutorials. It's an integral part of what they are.
Future Unfolding might be the purest example of this I've played yet. You start off with a couple of actions available to you, and from there, with observation and experimentation, you'll need to work out how to interact with the environment and advance in the game.
We might be looking at a new-ish genre. I humbly suggest calling it WTF'em up.
I'm loving it to pieces. There's not much I can say without going into spoilers, but: it's a top-down exploration game with procedural environments and puzzles. It looks and sounds great and it's got a great in-game automap. It plays like nothing else out there I know of, but there's definitely structure to it, and a (dream) logic.
The game does feel a bit overlong, with large environments that can be a slog to map completely; going through forests becomes a bit tiresome. That's probably my fault, though, since I'm trying to map and find everything. It usually doesn't take too long to find a new enigma and the environments have decent variety. Also (for now), it's all mystery and no plot. There's some lore here and there but most of it comes off as mystic mumbo jumbo.
Future Unfolding is a great game that's really hard to recommend, since I can easily see someone bouncing off it hard. Still, recommend it I do. Just be forewarned.

这个游戏对于新人玩家很不友好，上一次见到这么不友好的游戏是 EVE。
如果作为一个解谜游戏，发现作为游戏内容正式开启标志的第一个谜题。一定程度下要靠运气，如果发现不了只能在有限的空间里转悠。
如果说作为休闲游戏看看风景，我有更多选择，比如ABZU，Aquaria。
就我个人而言，知道了游戏流程，但也仍然把这个游戏作为一个休闲游戏，大概会时不时上线玩半个小时，却没什么通关的动力，大概能猜出似乎是想讲什么特别深奥的道理，却没什么探索和认同的想法，至于steam里评价的这个游戏表现了“和谐”之类的，很遗憾，完全没感受到。
首先每次进入游戏地图都是随机生成的，所以记忆地图什么的就算了，没用。
紧接着基本操作就是Tab，空格和方向键，空格的功能就是互动，各种动物都有功能，比如麋鹿能骑乘，骑乘时能消灭樱色的树林，绵羊可以通过弹跳或者传送的方式把你送去高地。Tab是地图键
游戏没有任何提示，只有在你第一次开启游戏是会仅出现一次的操作提示。此后即使你重开存档，已经出现的提示也不会重复出现。
然后说一下解密的主要流程
无论随机出什么地图，在这个地图的附近应该都会有一只麋鹿，灰白色，趴在地上的大麋鹿。我的几次游戏都是在一个洞穴里。和麋鹿互动之后，会出现一些很有哲理的，直接机翻的话。
这些话结束之后地图会自动弹出，你会在地图上找到一个红色的圆圈，圆圈位置就是目的地，如何前往请自己想办法。不会有任何提示。
每个圆圈处都有一个谜题，解开之后会出现一个灰白色的大动物，它负责讲一些很有哲理的话以及作为下一个解谜点的提示。谜题并不算难。回头发个试玩的视频上来吧。
再说一个小bug
进入地图再退出以后会出现方向键失灵的问题，解决方法是进入菜单后再退出
Future Unfolding is a top-down exploration game and the first thing that hits you is the colour. It's easy to find yourself fatigued with the AAA stream of grey so it was truly with joy that I saw my first world fill my screen. In truth, it wasn't just the colour but the whole game. It's drop-dead gorgeous. As your character pops onto the screen and the music kicks in, you feel like you're in a sensory experience. It feels like part of a museum exhibition. The game soon introduces you to it's simple mechanics, press B or press A. Press and hold A to run and you'll leave a blue trail behind you - a trail that looks like a stroke of a paint brush. It's a lovely touch which chimes with the game's overall 'painted' aesthetic. Beyond this early indication of the buttons, Future Unfolding quickly leaves you on your own.
Teaching without teaching is where it excels, the world that you're born in to is a complete mystery and there's only one way to figure it out. Experimentation. Learn by doing. What do those seeds do? What's that pyramid? What's that creatu.... OH MY GOD IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR ME! As you explore the lush environments, there's a sense of wonderment - figuring out how to solve puzzles is something you must do by yourself. There's no hand holding to guide you through. It's here that I found the most joy. The large majority of games tell and for not doing that, Future Unfolding deserves huge credit. It not only does it, but it perfects it.
It also all but perfects procedurally generated worlds - each world that you pop into is generated around a set of rules and puzzles but the randomisation gives every player a unique experience, a unique path to the end of their story. I use the word 'story' very loosely as there is a basic narrative that carries you through but really takes a backseat to your progression. Throughout the game, you'll encounter fantastical creatures that spew some philosophical mumbo-jumbo your way. While it fits in with the game's relaxed tones, it adds little to the game. This despite the odd snippet of how the world works.
You'll also run into - and make use of - many other animals, so much so that they form an integral part of the experience. Much like with some of the puzzles, you'll find yourself scratching your head at what the point of some of them are but I think that is a fundamental part of what Future Unfolding is about. It strikes me as an odd thing to say, but the presence of the unknown definitely adds to the weight of the game.
In the early moments you'll figure out that death is not necessarily a bad thing and that outlook will serve you well while playing. Future Unfolding, much like Journey, is about, well, the journey.
However, within the first few hours, you'll have seen most of what there is to see. The sense of wonder drains away, leaving behind a simple but, at times, frustrating game. Frustrating because sometimes it fails to be a puzzle game and instead simply turns into a game of 'what did I miss?' The game provides a map of your surroundings, a basic fog of war is in play - to uncover the map, you walk around. As you advance, you'll find yourself skirting around levels in a bid to make sure you didn't miss anything - a path, a cave, an oddly laid-out group of plants. Sometimes it's worse, you'll solve a puzzle but have no idea how - which in itself is hardly the crime of the century, until you have to solve the puzzle another couple of times. Having a basic idea of how to solve it doesn't help when enemies come in to play. That's not the end of the world but it is frustrating to have to retrace your steps - a task that becomes all too common. And when I say 'too common', I mean it - there are whole puzzles dedicated to retracing your steps. It's simply not fun.
Picture a table full of donuts. All for you. One of those donuts is real. The others? Made out of... Styrofoam. You, however, cannot tell the difference. If you want the real donut, you're going to have to walk 10 metres to it and bite into it. Unfortunately, you don't get the real donut until you've bitten in to 8 of the fake ones. Okay, there's a delicious prize at the end of the road, but the road is full of Styrofoam in your mouth. Or something. Like my analogy, these puzzles aren't particularly smart, they aren't particularly fun, and I'm not sure that they even count as puzzles/donuts.
While these problems cause frustrations, the music becomes a little overbearing and instead of making you feel like you're relaxing in "Alan's Deep Bath", it makes you feel on edge. I hadn't muted a game in a long while. Future Unfolding's biggest weakness however, is that the world just isn't incredible enough. I keep harking back to Journey but throughout it's (albeit short) run time, I was constantly in awe. There simply isn't enough of that in Future Unfolding. Phoning Home has the same problem - there's too much of it. I often get the feeling that a game could have been great if only the developers had left out the filler and shortened the game, in turn creating a much tighter experience. Unfortunately, Future Unfolding is another to add to that list. As you reach your third or fourth world, the sense of discovery is almost completely lost among the things that you've already seen.
After two hours, I felt bored, which in turn lead to the frustrations that I mentioned above as I went back and forth, as I randomly clicked my way through some puzzles. I felt like I needed to progress the story but those hurdles stopped me in my tracks. I then stopped playing the game. Not in the literal sense, of course, but I started to just let the game carry me through. So I need to go back to where I came, is that such a problem? As it turns out, no, not really. I found myself enjoying the experience despite earlier threatening to cut off my own toes just for something to do.

Future Unfolding exceeds at letting you find your own way through puzzles and game mechanics, something in which most games fail. The first hour or so is exciting as you discover what is and isn't possible, as you stumble upon brief moments of pure joy. These moments however, are too far in between and when combined with the frustration of retracing your own steps, spoil the experience somewhat. An enjoyable enough experience but ultimately fails to provide the same sense of wonderment as Journey.

优点：
画面配色十分美，风格让人联想到见证者，不过是平面版的。各种互动时的画面效果配合优美的音乐与应景的音效，是一种艺术上的享受。探索与各种东西的互动，不断寻找出口，向步行模拟爱好者强烈推荐。
缺点：
1.在玩第一、第二个世界的时候，我还非常认真地把世界的每一个角落都走一遍，看看是否有什么遗漏。到后来，发现世界非常多之后就变得随意了起来，基本只是为了找到出口而不再有耐心探索地图的每一个角落了。究其原因，大概是相对于世界之大，存在的可以互动、可以变化激起人探索欲望的元素还是少了些。
2.虽然有简中，但是是机翻，这种故作深沉又语句不通的句子破坏了整个游戏的禅境。
最后是我记得的一些可以互动的东西：
兔子：和兔子做朋友后与它互动，则可以长出灌木来，还有一种兔子，互动后会毁灭周围的一切石头和植物。
鹿：可以骑在它身上，让它带你奔跑，在受到袭击时可以抵一命，如果是有角的鹿，还可以驮着你跳跃沟壑。
狼：碰到它即会死亡。有趣的细节是玩家每次死亡处都会长出一棵树。死亡后也不用担心，仅仅是加速功能受到影响，人物会立即在地图附近重生。
蛇：会吐出毒液，毒液过处，石头和植物均会溶解消弭，玩家触碰过久也会死亡。
羊：羊可以带着方圆几米内的东西瞬移到固定地点。下过水的羊，羊毛会膨胀，此时跳上去可以弹很高。
蜂子：成群结队，被叮咬时间长了会死亡。
白花：触碰后可以延长加速功能持续的时间。
传送树：带你进入里世界。
转移树：和羊的功能类似，带着方圆几米内的东西瞬移到固定地点。
弹簧树：和吸了水的羊功能类似，跳上去可以弹很高。
开关石：可以控制一些石头的位置。
音符石/树/草；它们通常是多个一样的一起出现，将它们连线起来，可以召唤出某些东西。

My go-to game to chill out. Just make sure you explore the forests and try lots of different things if you get stuck.

There's no hook in Future Unfolding to keep you intrigued or curious about the game. Obfuscation of the very few possible interactions that you have with your world is the 'mystique' behind the game's aesthetic. There is no gameplay, no story, and no significant score or media to warrant the tag price of the product if purchased as a standalone ambient audio compilatin.
If you like meditative games, give it a shot.

Future Unfolding often reminded me of Proteus, now I guess kind of classic walking simulator. Beautiful graphics, great work with sound, first hours are full of delightful exploration and wonder. What does this button do? What those animals do? When a player befriends a deer for a first time, a great feeling of connection, harmony with the enviroment sets in. The game does all of this greatly. Atmosphere is spot on and so is the enjoyment of induling in it.
There are few bad parts, though, or reminders:
- don't buy it for puzzles. They are fairly easy, they add up to the atmosphere but are not really intellectual challenge
- a game could use a more wider palette of enviroments. It ticks at something like 15 hours and changes colors often, but at the end the few kind of trees, clearings etc. start to blur together
- sometimes you are stuck and the only thing you can do is run around edges of locations randomly to find a way out
I more and more feel like that Future Unfolding is a game that is best played as some people propose to take hallucinogens (the game itself is pretty surreal at times and psychedelic in a sense) - in small doses. Hour here, hour there and it works miraculously.
After all, one can really see the care the game was made with. And that is something that needs to be appreciated.

Ten thumbs up. You'll certainly need them all. Best game I've ever found via following steams suggestions and reviews that were "positive". Personally I'd say it was "overwhelmingly positive". Awe-striking complexity. Loved everything about it, especially how music and movement drives the whole mission. Also fun to have to figure out everything for yourself throught the whole game. Beautiful graphics even my laptop could run. Ever since dowloading, I've either been playing this game or searching steam for a way to find alike games. 10/10!
A quiet little game about observation, exploration, and collecting bunnies. Sometimes you ride on deer. Sometimes there are mean replicating cats that try to hurt you. Mostly bunnies.
Note: This is not a "should I buy" type of review. It's more an analysis of the game, and will spoil some stuff in the game. Future Unfolding is best enjoyed without knowing anything about it other than that it's about exploration, so read on your own risk.
Future Unfolding is a game about mysteries, and finding your place in nature. More specifically, it's a game about running around in procedurally generated natural habitats, and figuring out hidden rules. How to ride a deer? Which bushes are teleporters? How to move rocks? How to use the snake for your adventage? The game explains absolutely nothing. You are on your own. This is its strength and weakness.
Some of the things I'll write will feel like I'm complaining too much. These don't mean that the game is bad. But they do mean that it could be better.
The game is visually very pleasing in motion. Straight up, if you liked Proteus, I think you should get this game. Just to experience running around in top down view, and exploring. Player movement is joyful, the nature is playful, and everything looks beautiful.
Now, about the rules... There are a lot of them, but you don't need all of them to finish the game. Some of them are really easy to find, like riding a deer. Some of them more complex, like teleporting with sheep, and what you take with you while teleporting. And some of them I just cannot find. One time an animal told me that I can hug snakes, I kept trying to press B on the controller while on top of snakes, nothing happened. That's the thing about not telling anything directly. Some things are bound to create confusion. I'm still curious if there's a rule I couldn't find about the snakes.
One of the things that bother me is that on most areas with enemies, you can just run away and you'll be fine. It's luck based rather than skill, so you might have to try a few times. This makes the game feel loose. Like, there are rules but some rules are just boring (collect the lake leaves through the flowers to find a new path, repeat 10 times). And most challenges are not fun. Like the lions. You'll be chased around. But the chase won't give you an adrenaline rush, you'll just be annoyed when you get killed.
That's my main gripe with the game. Almost every element in the game feels overused. Some puzzles are really nice, but then they are repeated again and again, same rules apply in tens of areas. There are times the feeling of exploration leaves itself to the feeling of monotony. But I still finished the game, and I'm glad I did. I saw a beautiful ending cutscene as my reward.
Let's talk story. There is one. But it's hard to get invested in it. It talks about your position in nature as a humanbeing. It tells you to not look for meaning. It wants you to simply exist, and enjoy. It's good that the story wants to put you in a mood where you'll have the most fun out of the game. And the writing is good. There are some beautiful quotes in there. But there's also a moment where an animal just says "I have nothing to say, go further". That feels pretty bad. Also, the way you learn the story is by finding a white animal, and it saying a few words. I think I could be invested in the story more if things were more dynamic. If I could travel with talking animals and they could develop deep personalities. If there was actual tension. If there was something to lose or gain. If my character had personality. Instead, the game goes heavy on taoist themes, which are beautiful, but again, can feel overused.
The sounds and music were minimal, but they work just fine.
My favorite part of the game has to be the procgen, and the render technics used to make 2D sprites feel 3D, But that's quite technical. I wish the hidden game rules had more weight. I didn't really feel like I was smart when I solved a puzzle. And the repetition gets really bad sometimes. I unlocked just half of the achievements. But I feel like I had enough. Beautiful game, I am very glad I played it, but you have to be okay with some of its weird design decisions.

This game is like meditation itself... you think you have a mission, you go exploring,
loose your way but unexplainably end up where you should have been.
This game manages to keep you wondering in suspense and might keep you thinking
further about real life too.
The difficulty of riddles and skillfulness keep you in a flow and even if you might think
you are stuck there's always a way out without getting frustrated.
The procedural maps which are generated for every new game
make it unique each time you play it.

One of the most artful games out there. I'd best descibe it as an exploration adventure.
It's interesting how you don't truly understand what's going on and still get sucked into exploring all the environments.
I've only seen the beginning of a huge world that feels vibrant and interesting, filled with mysteries, puzzles and awesome weirdness.
If you're into exploration and puzzles this is a must-play for you!
Run around until you find the exit. Well, there are some puzzles, but they're few and far between; and not particularly interesting. The game should have been about a quarter of the length and a quarter of the price.
Very special art style. Could be more rewarding at some point ( collectable stuff and so on ). But in general an interesting experience so far!
They've created a fascinating, interactive, and beatiful world, and quite atypically they leave you alone to explore it however you wish. Some players may miss the tutorials and continuous guidance, but personally, I enjoyed the freedom to explore and tinker at my own pace.

This game is absolutely astonishing and teach you not to think in a schematic way, because different things can happen each time you cooperate with something. It is hard to explain what is going on there, you just have to experience it by yourself.
Very, very reccomended for fans of exploring and for people who just want to relax and calm down playing game. 10/10
An extremely beautiful and striking looking game. You'll be exploring an intriguing world all while wondering what is with the rabbits. I cannot speak to the length of the game but when every frame is a painting you'll want to walk through and enjoy every section. There are some light puzzles but it's tied in with exploration. I'm a fan!

Wow! The puzzles, atmosphere, and mechanics in this game are so unique! I've never played anything like this before and it's truly beautiful! I feel like I am a kid again and playing Zelda or Final Fantasy VI for the first time. It's magical! I won't say more than that. It's too easy to spoil the game. I got to beta test this, and it was amazing. Exploration and environmental puzzling with a sublime atmosphere, the world here feels vibrant and alive and real - as if it exists on its own, for itself, and you have to adapt to it and become part of its ecology. At the same time, it questions your stumbling efforts to understand and manipulate the world around you. You are an outsider - what is your role? Do you even have one in this strange and wonderful (and slightly alien) place?
The magic of ignorance
The gameplay reminds me strongly of the video games I played in my childhood.
Many of them had a strong exploration focus and bizarre game mechanics, the guidance of which was restricted to a few noncritical lines. Why can I shoot only in certain places? What are the circular beams? Why do I only attack a few specimens of the spherical extraterrestrial ? In the coming days, such questions pattered around my head...
In the world of Future Unfolding, there are no aliens or similar futuristic things - but a metaphysical-looking natural backdrop. Again, I can not see the forest in front of the trees. When you press the action button, miraculous things happen, which I can not explain at first (and which I will not talk about too deeply to avoid your fun of discovering). In the role of a human seen from top view, I walk around, experiment with all sorts of miraculous mechanics, and release new sections, lakes and caves when "puzzles" are solved successfully. Eventually in the course of the game one also understands how to complete a passage in the random-generated environments to get into a new area.
A walk in the direction of life
The reason for existence is the cornerstone of this title. In Future Unfolding we encounter a number of animals, sorts of forest sages who ask us more rhetorical questions than the others. They also offer poetry quotes from Henry David Thoreau, from his hymn to the discovery of the wilderness, Walking , or quotations from Margaret Thatcher who gave us a "society does not exist" , whose lyricism is sorely lacking, but which proves to be heavy with meaning and implication. Most of the time, the lyrics are philosophical and have a contemplative dimension. They question our relationship to the world and to ourselves, and we must admit that for those who like to ask themselves and enjoy a more meditative experience, this title is more than refreshing.
What actions bear meaning? What are the free shares? In the real world, we often act without knowing why, but we do it because we are told to do it because everybody does it because it is normal because it is imperative , and because that's how it is. Society is imbued with an omnipresent utilitarianism, actions being summarized with their most concrete results, we nourish ourselves with tangible, objective, material, without ever takingg advantage of the actions themselves, without ever reflecting on their more deep, without ever thinking about the real why. An action is, above all, a journey whose destination is often seen only. That's why Future Unfolding is a different experience: the developers offer us freedom in the pure state, very different from any open world that imposes us the shackles of a precise objective.
1I went through a very special moment in my gaming life. This is just an incredible game, beautiful. A game who appeals to your senses, to your capacity of thinking out of the box.
Love the concept. Pure originality should be rewarded.
A word to parents : This game is very kid friendly. My 7 years old kid loves it and I know for sure how this leave a print as a young gamer. A game he will remember all his life.
Beautiful game, full of little mysteries to get lost in
Pretty much a pure exploration game. It plays smoothly, looks and sounds fantastic, doesn't devolve into tedium and constantly keeps the mystery going.
If you like a tutorial...buy something else...if you want to be challenged about the entire concept of "What do I do here?" then this is for you.
At first it felt kind of "limbo-ish", because after you press start nothing happens...you'll have to jab at your controller to get into the game proper. Even then, there's no preamble, no "this is why you are here". So you just have to touch stuff and see what happens...
...and things do happen....wonderfully animated things.
...you don't have to walk to far to find a "questgiver" of sorts. In fact, hje's a bit of an "anti-questgiver"...he basically says don't try and figure out why you're here..go do some more stuff, see what happens.
Explore. Interact. Fail. Try something different. Think you're stuck when you're not. Realise that sheep are more powerful than they appear (doubly so when wet).

This is a great feeling of flow throught the movement and world, the sound design and animations bring you into
'the zone'
The puzzles are great in that they are not roadblocks but rather optional addition paths in which to explore the world. There are good feedback systems in the world to encourage players to understand gradually how things piece together.
The characters, spirits, or gods, all bring an interesting myth systems telling of the fragile balance of the world.
Finally the atmosphere is fantastic, through different settings the transistion feels great.

C'est joli et c'est agréable à écouter.
C'est aussi sympa à contrôler assez vite. Voilà pour les trucs dont je me fous un peu.
Pour tout le reste, ça marche bien parce que t'es pas pris par la main, t'as pas un challenge de furieux qui te fait perdre ta progression, t'as pas une narration en mode "vient par là que je te gave de ma super histoire".
T'y vas à ton rythme, tu t'imprègnes un peu du monde, de sa/ses logiques, tu flaires le récit aux détours des quelques rares PNJs qui parlent, tu explores, tu te perds, tu te fais des potes, tu les exploites un peu parce que hey faut bien progresser, tu regrettes et tu te promets de leur consacrer plus de temps pour ce qu'ils sont, tu trouves un raccourci, tu découvre un gros objectif et tu réfléchis à continuer ou flâner.
Bref, l'expérience en elle même est comme cette éval, globalement très positive.
Note toutefois qu'en gros c'est deux devs pour la core-team. Y'a un coté artisanal, tu sens la patte et le travail unique en même temps que tu vois les (rares hein) imperfections techniques.

You'll be mystified sometimes, but that's the wonderful thing about it. It's also one of those rare games that genuinely feels like a world - there's a whole ecosystem going on and you're part of it. This is a mysterious, beautiful game!
(UPDATED) I finished the game and my view of the game changed.
Below are my experience 1-2 hours in the game:
- I was addicted to Rocket League.
- I like game like The Witness, ABZU, Firewatch, Grow Home/Up, Trine 2.
- I was bored because I don't have much time to play game.
- I can't afford to play long sessions games, games with lot of story element like RTSs, RPGs, MOBAs.
- I just wanted to relax, wander and enjoy.
- I found out about Future Unfolding.
- I stopped my Rocket League
9/10 must try if you feel the way I feel.
After completing the game:
- Since the game don't guide you much, you may feel lost when you get stuck in a world and don't know how to proceed. This can get frustrating. However, steam forum and online guide can help you get pass certain part of the game.
- My little OCD force me to trace out every possible path of the world too. If you enjoy exploring, this can be good. However, the game doesn't do too well in rewarding the player when they explore the world. You can just skip part of the world and finish the game.
- The length of the game is a bit too long and tiring imo. There are 9 worlds to explore, but each world feel too similar to the other world to make it enjoyable.
- The ending is debatable as well. It's carry 'deep meaning', together with what you've seen in the game, the ending kind of make sense. However, it's not a particular satisfying ending. There is no 'wow' or self reflection.
Overall, I enjoyed the game. I would only recommend this game to those who truly want to relax and wander. Beside that, this is not for those who enjoy solving puzzle, for those who want to have a sense of achievement.
If I have to give it a score, and if Trine 2 is 10/10 for me, this game should score:
7/10

These are some nice worlds to explore. I've only seen a part of the game (3 hours out of the estimated play time is 15 hours IIRC), but it's really smooth proceeding (this is pretty rare for "discover things as you go along" games). It's also not very like other games - visually or design wise. I'm quite interested to see where it goes from here.
Future Unfolding doesn't hold hands. You are expected to go ahead and discover the world and its rules all by yourself.
I love the coherent art style.
I've been playing the beta version, which did run very smooth already on both Windows 10 and OS X.
I beta-tested the game, finished it once, and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT - will replay again. Procedural generation at it's best:
- many secrets to discover. you'll be surprised constantly
- feels like an adventure, with no grind
- feels very organic in every regard: controls, visuals, story
- the ending gave me all the feels
- will replay again
Downsides:
- no downsides.
Only got a short glimpse of the game so far, but what I've seen looks absolutely stunning <3

i do recommend this game because it tries to do something very different than what usually games do.
exploration here is very honest - you don't usually know what you looking for, but the world has very clear but subtly presented rules. once you understand them you fall in love with the game's environment.

With an unmistakable and hypnotic visual presentation and soothing soundtrack of earthly melodies, the game captures perfectly the majestic and unknown deeps of uncharted wildlands and the unknown heart of nature. A top-down adventure with a very broad and open do-anything approach and an addictive act in fantasy world cartography, there's no real right way to play and only the most curious of explorers will be rewarded here.
This is an experience of pure exploration and curiosity. You are dropped into the confusion of Mother Nature with little to no hand-holding, with only your senses and instincts to guide you through landscapes and the hazards of predators. Future Unfolding does not point you in any particular direction and instead leaves you with the determination to feel and chart the world out for yourself. As you set out and dash your way through the secretive and cryptic world your crude hand-drawn map will slowly fill in, pushing to to spread out in different directions and uncover more of the exciting and colorful world.
What's really amazing is how despite this lack of any real hand-holding, guidance, or tutorials the game manages to strike a perfect balance of relaxing and entertaining. There was never a moment that I felt stuck, or like there was something I had to do that I didn't get. Everything flows so perfectly well, and just when you think you've strayed far from whatever you're looking for something appears and sets you right back on track in inexplicable ways. It's mysterious and cryptic, but that certainly doesn't keep Future Unfolding from being accessible, enjoyable and fun as heck.
The animals of the forest that whisk you away for rides and lead you to unexpected destinations, wise and talkative elder spirit creatures who share prophetic bits of speech, as well as other unknown magical forces that light up the world all guide your navigation through this magical and natural trek and eventually to pink triangular nodes that activate to your touch. Finding and activating three of these peculiar floating pyramids completes the trifecta and places a welcoming marker on your growing map, and gives you the ultimately satisfying task of playing cartographer to fill out your self-charting map and reach this ominous new landmark and complete the area. Where it leads you and what else is in store would just be a spoiler, and this is a trip I recommend experiencing yourself.
The expanse of forest thick with autumn red and lush green trees, the winding pathways of meadow and flowers so bright and colorful they make an almost psychedelic effect. Round blue lakes and ponds scatter across the lush landscapes, rippling occasionally with the movement of fish swimming close to the surface. It's a gorgeous and natural setting with earthly colors and a whimsical colorful playfulness, and it all seems very true to life at first. That is until discovering the pyramids of neon light that activate to your touch, or the writhing balls of strange miasma that transport you to different darker realms which interconnect for obscure shortcuts. All in all Future Unfolding has a gorgeous and breathtaking visual style that I can guarantee you haven't seen in a top-down perspective before, and creates a mesmerizing sort of magical realism only found in the darkest heart of the woods.
The vibrancy and lifelike movement of the art and animation are matched only by the elegance and grace of the soundtrack that guides your journey. The very fitting hypnotic and dreamy synth chimes and twinkles atmospherically to your every action, and ambient tones rise and fall with the movement and action. Ominous rumblings set a tense mood as hostile elements inhabit the area, and overall the entire soundtrack works meticulously in the background to set and transition each setting and mood appropriately.
There's a certain unbridled sense of wonder and excitement in the discovery of new anomalies throughout the colorful and living world of nature surrounding you. Pushing through thickets of trees to explore for secrets deep in its cover, and happening upon the many strange and exciting landmarks and happenings doesn't get old. Winding through secret trails to stumble upon large and mystical white beasts who share their humble bits of wisdom with you. Strange symbols in the dirt summon a dark fog that beckons you to follow it to a decrepit glowing tree that transports you to dark underworlds. Many of the woods' lifeforms communicate with you in cryptic and unpredictable ways. This mysterious and dreamlike world of uncharted nature holds many loosely connected secrets to discover, and only the most in-tune with its earthly roots will be keen enough to uncover them.
Future Unfolding is an experience not comparable to any others in the interactive media category. The closest thing that comes to mind is perhaps exploring the mysterious island in Proteus of the earlier hey-days of indie gaming when these sort of artistic game projects were first finding their identity. It's that same idea of abstract and open-ended composition that leaves most of the "gameification" up to the limits of the player and their imagination, a whole dreamed up new world for you to explore and create your own narrative within. Games like Future Unfolding only come once in a blue moon, and when they do it's important to seize the opportunity. Highly recommended to experience at least once.
