I was recommended this game by a friend so I waited for it to get better but it just didn't.

There are some really good ideas in there but it's really boring. Passable in terms of art but the exact opposite in terms of gameplay. The exploration is somewhat but it just takes too long to get from one interesting thing to another.

An interesting concept for a metroidvania that harkens back to the era of artsy casual puzzle indie games. The strongest comparison I can make for this is a game called insanely twisted shadow planet. Unlike that game, this one wears out its welcome and ultimately becomes too tedious to enjoy. This is because the whole game is just too drawn out and slow with movement but at the same time you need to be quick on your reflexes in regards to handling enemies. it is a toxic mixture and I decided to stop playing around halfway through. Oh and I feel the game has an issue with consistency. for example, you're taught you bomb ability can get rid of rubble blocking the way, but sometimes that doesn't work anyway. enemies seem to take damage from your basic attack judging by sounds and visuals when in fact they are not taking any damage

However, this needs to be commended for using unity while having absolutely none of the stutter issues that unity games usually suffer from. Indeed, the game is buttery smooth and very polished just like the indie games of old, despite the engine used.

I like the general atmosphere, the game does a great job of telling a compelling story with only the environments to go by, even if I'm not that big a fan of silhouette graphics. The world you explore feels very alien and mysterious, and really lets your imagination take over. Where the game and I butt heads though, is with the movement. It felt like I was constantly fighting the game for control of my character the whole way through, and it really kills the fun I was having taking in the environments. Maybe this is just a problem unique to me, but damn if it didn't sour my experience. Ultimately I just barely give this a recommended, but it's one of those games where, if someone asked if I liked it, I'd have to stop and think about it a bit first.

Forma.8 es un titulo indie en el que debemos guiar a una sonda o una nave del mismo nombre a escapar de un mundo alienigena y llegar a una fuente de energia. Para ello debemos recorrer varios niveles, descubrir secretos, obtener mejoras, resolver puzzles y hallar a nuestros compañeros formas caidos por los distintos caminos, estos te daran sus poderes especiales para llevar a cabo tu mision.

Esta mision no sera nada facil, dado que hay enemigos por doquier y bosses que intentaran detenernos, muchos de estos seran faciles de destruir aunque por el lado de los bosses hay que romperse un poco el "coco" para entender (a primera vez) como eliminarlos.

Su arte visual es hermoso y su musica es bonita. No hay dialogos, se podria decir que la forma usa su lenguaje corporal o expresiones. Su duracion es de 6 a 12 horas, porque hay momentos en los que no entenderemos que hacer, ya sea como vencer a un jefe, un camino que no hayamos explorado aun o que nos perdamos buscando el interruptor para la llave especial.

Como punto negativo es la ausencia de un jefe final digno; tambien tiene un final bueno y un final malo que podria catalogarlo como "meh".

Recomendado en una buena oferta. (Se juega mejor con mando)

日本語はあるが、ゲーム内での字幕やセリフなどが全くないのでシステム周りだけです

宇宙船から惑星へと飛ばされた探査機の１機で、建物に激突して不時着、惑星を探索していく

仲間の残骸などから特殊能力を吸収したり、集めると特殊能力を強化できるアイテムを開放できるアイテムなどもある

メトロイドヴァニアとしてはかなりシンプルだが基本的な事は抑えられている

セール時にかなり安くなるのでシンプルなメトロイドヴァニア系が好きならお勧め、難易度は意外に高いです

Мы играем за дрона, которого с сотней собратьев сбрасывают на неизведанную планету. Нам предстоит изучить новый прекрасный мир, наполненный яркими красками, необычными существами, громадными боссами и останками древней цивилизации.

[code]Мне сразу вспомнился мультфильм «ВАЛЛ-И / WALL-E». В этой игре дрона сделали таким же живым и любознательным, какими были роботы из мультфильма студии «Pixar».[/code]

[h1]Геймплей:[/h1]
Дрон умеет летать и использовать электрический разряд вместо оружия. По мере прохождения он сможет оставлять мины. Что примечательно, в игре отсутствует обучение, нет никаких пояснений, кроме кнопок управления. Многих может озадачить момент с использованием вещей и оружия. Все вещи (ключи) используются автоматически там, где их можно применить. С оружием сложнее. После того, как вам станут доступны мины, вы сможете не только оставлять их и ждать взрыва, вы можете их отбивать, используя как снаряд. Закладываем мину, а затем «отфутболиваем» ее в нужную сторону с помощью электрического разряда. Таким способом проходим первого большого врага – паука, перегораживающего проход. Он не подпускает к себе и не дает взорвать камни. Придется пинать в него мины на расстоянии.

Поскольку дрон летает, а не передвигается по земле, то управлять им проще на контроллере, чем на клавиатуре. Игра сделана под геймпад и полностью поддерживает все функции, включая вибрацию (когда взрываются мины). Поэтому рекомендую играть именно на нем. Это делает геймплей проще, атмосфернее, превращает игру в удовольствие и расслабляющее приключение. Единственное, что иногда напрягает – медленный разворот и скорость дрона. Трудно уворачиваться от летящих снарядов и быстро менять направление.

Графика, музыка и звук превосходные. Мир получился живым, красочным и огромным. При простоте форм картинка радует взгляд. Растительность колышется, мелькают огоньки, а пролетев сквозь траву, мы видим соответствующий визуальный эффект и слышим ее шелест. Удачно сделана вся анимация. Особенно радуют плавные переходы камеры при масштабировании локации: сразу ощущаешь, насколько огромный мир вокруг, и как мал в нем наш крохотный дрон!

Fortunetly, I didn't play this game for too long so I could refund it.

The game started off really strong, I liked the quiet, slower pace and the minimalist visuals. I quickly (very quickly) grew tired of that slow pace, however. Even doing the most basic of backtracking was a crawl.

But that's not why I wouldn't reccomend this game. I came across the first real enemy after not too long, and it is why I refunded this game. The combat mechanic to fight it is simple...then the real way to fight it is a bit more complicated...I think. The truth is that I recieved no indication of how to fight this enemy, or even whether what I was doing was working, or how much longer I needed to do it to win. I was just doing my thing, what was ultimetly a guess at how to play, with 0 feedback from the game. After dying maybe half a dozen to a dozen times, I knew that the whole game was going to be like that, so I refunded.

I don't like games that hand-hold you through everything. I've beaten Dark Souls for crying out loud! But at least Souls games tell you how much health an enemy has left.

그저 어리석고 우둔하기만 했던 우주 탐사정.

외계 행성에 불시착한 소형 탐사정을 조종해 외계 행성에 숨겨진 비밀과 수수께끼를 풀어나가는 메트로배니아 장르의 게임이다. 메트로배니아 장르의 큰 틀을 벗어나지 않는 게임이고 겉보기에는 딱히 큰 단점은 없을 무난한 게임 같아 보이겠지만......

장점은 애매한데 단점이 너무나 뚜렷한 게임이다. 우선 조작이 너무나 안 좋다. 소형 탐사정이 공중을 떠다니기에 이동이 편할 것 같지만, 이동 속도가 느린데다가 묘하게 가속도까지 붙는 바람에 방향 전환도 어렵다. 게임을 진행하면서 대쉬나 플래쉬 같은 스킬을 익히는데, 쿨타임이 쓸데없이 길어 자유롭게 활용하기가 어렵다. 게다가 공격 사거리까지 짧고 좁아 몰려오는 몬스터들에 대처하기도 은근히 까다롭다. 아주 못 해먹을 몹쓸 조작감까진 아니지만, 이보다 더 나은 조작감을 구현해내는 것도 얼마든지 가능했을 것이다.

포르마8 특유의 불친절함 역시 문제가 된다. 게임 상에서 어디로 가서 무엇을 하라는 식의 지시가 단 한 번도 등장하지 않는다. 철저히 플레이어가 직접 탐험하며 진행해야 하는건데, 이게 좋은 말로 해야 탐험이지 결국 허공에 삽질하는 거랑 다를 게 하나도 없다. 결국 길 한 번 못 찾기 시작하면 끝도 없이 헤메게 된다. (게임 화면도 은근히 어두워 가끔씩 길 알아보기 힘들 때가 있다.) 아무리 탐험을 중시하는 게임이라지만, 이 게임의 불친절함은 오픈월드 게임이나 샌드박스 게임보다도 훨씬 심하다.

그 밖에 스테이지 디자인이 JRPG 장르의 게임보다도 복잡하다는 문제도 존재한다. 장점이 없진 않다. 포르마8 특유의 외계 행성의 분위기는 나름 괜찮은 편이다. 하지만 게임 상에서 벌어지는 상황이라던가 이야기 전개에 대해 직접적으로 전달해주는 바가 전혀 없다보니 게임이 진도는 나가도 줄거리에 대한 이해가 전혀 되질 않는다. 아무것도 모를 로봇 탐사정의 시점에서 이야기를 그려내느라 그랬던건진 모르겠지만, 이 때문에 게임 내용에 몰입히 하나도 안 된다.

환불이 절실할 만큼 아주 못해먹을 게임은 아니다. 분명 누군가에게는 그리 나쁘지 않은 게임일 것이다. 하지만 냉정히 놓고 봤을 땐 메트로배니아 장르의 평균치는 충족시키지 못하는 게임이다.

達成率100％になったのでレビューします。

ほどよくコンパクトに纏まった適度な難易度のメトロイドヴァニアです。
レベルの概念などはなく、自機はアイテム回収によってスキルを獲得し強化されます。

攻撃は周囲近距離に展開するショックウェーブと設置爆弾の二通りあります。爆弾にショックウェーブをあてると飛んでいき、飛び道具代わりになります。
戦う手段は最後まで基本これのみですが、自機の移動に独特の慣性がかかるため、単純に近づいて近接攻撃だけ繰り返してればＯＫということにはなりません。敵の挙動をみて、丁寧に適した攻撃を当てていく必要があります。

ストーリーですが、このゲームには会話とかメッセージとか一切ないんですよ。なので、シチュエーションはあれどストーリー展開は殆どない、という感じですね。主人公の置かれている状況や目の当たりにするものを見て、何が起こっているのか察して下さい。

背景以外のオブジェクトの大半は黒と赤紫のワンポイントで表現されていて、虚無感、孤独感、といった感覚を覚えさせます。文章のない構成と相まって、独特の雰囲気がありますね。

難点としては、移動の慣性が強いため、かなりのもっさりゲーです。これは人を選ぶかも。
あとは、このゲーム固有のフューチャーに欠けるかな、と感じました。

でも全体的にみると値段のわりに良く出来てます。個人的には定価で買っても後悔はないと思います。

forma.8 pode acabar passando despercebido, mas não se deixe enganar por seu visual minimalista. Por trás do visual simples, esconde-se uma jóia rara, lapidada com uma trilha sonora envolvente, jogabilidade fluida e puzzles bem elaborados.

Trata-se de um "metroidvania", onde estamos no controle de um "drone (sonda)", em busca de respostas para o mistério de nossa chegada a este local desconhecido.

Este "drone (sonda)" começa bem simples, e conforme vamos progredindo, adquire upgrades que facilitarão sua jornada e permitirão acessar áreas aparentemente inacessíveis.

forma.8 é um jogo extremamente viciante! Voltará muitas vezes a áreas já visitadas, para obter um colecionável deixado para trás por não ter a habilidade necessária em um momento inicial.

看视频和截图有点Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet的意思，兴许还加了些PixelJunk Shooter的点子，但美术让我觉得有点微妙的不可靠，所以在申请试玩前还特意看了评测区和截图区，算是有心理准备：节奏慢没关系，我也不是急性子，跑图看风景顺带解谜玩得就是气氛，有什么可着急的？然而一小时后，为防止手柄被捏碎，我改成了键盘操作。

不多废话，主要问题三点，一是战斗，把自己放在原地的炸弹像打台球一样打出去，还是运动战，战斗难度不说，光这操作就够磨叽了。这不是观光旅游看风景的游戏吗？不是，甚至还有点堆怪。但一码归一码，这套打球机制用在解谜时效果不错，各异的BOSS战也很有意思，扳回不少体验分。

其次地图设计有明显问题，流程跑路占比太高，期间出现亮点也很快被大量无味内容冲淡。我还琢磨着这算不算类银魔城，毕竟都是在多条路线折返获取技能来推进整体进度，但好在及时回过味儿来：拿到了技能却很难搞懂它能在哪里发挥作用，这才是F8的问题所在，部分区域过早出现，以及谜面藏于他处的纯解谜支线，甚至纯粹由场景美术引起的错觉，都让我难以在第一时间把握流程走向。

再者开发者在谜题上的投入不够。从寻找收集品到小游戏再到BOSS战，解谜或多或少贯穿其间，这个思路很好，可惜多数谜题质量太低反倒坏了气氛拖了节奏。

所以我确实没法赞同评测区另一个哥们的说法，这游戏跟急性子没有任何关系：角色机动性差、战斗机制拖沓、操作失误率高、地图设计缺乏条理性，使得探索、解谜甚至小游戏消耗了过多不必要的时间和热情，导致十小时的作品带来二三十小时的疲惫，这不对。

最后犹豫了一下还是点了不推荐。打磨不足是开发者的问题，不是玩家要考虑的，作品就这样还能说什么呢。再者诸如场景空洞缺少可互动要素，中后期制作缩水之类的问题也不展开了。其实有很多出彩的设定可以反复灵活使用提升体验，但就是，一晃而过。模棱两可的流程，恍恍惚惚的通关，我的脑子里什么都没留下，呆呆地看着最后一幕，主角的飞船坠毁在冰冷星球。

就到此为止吧，BE也算应景。

A more atmospheric, puzzle-oriented metroidvania. The player's movement speed is atrociously slow even after you pick up some movement upgrades, so you might consider using a helpful little tool to speed up the game during the long sections of empty space.

Appealing graphics and inoffensive audio. Combat is simple but does ramp up as you go.

Pros:
+ Plenty of different beautiful locales, there is a certain sense of wonder when exploring the world. Visuals are one of the game's strongest points.
+ Ambient soundtrack (nothing like in the trailer though).
+ Unique mechanics for every boss make for interesting battles.
+ A very smooth difficulty curve.
+ Good mileage for that price.

Cons:
- Sluggish controls on keyboard. I often wished the Forma didn't have so much inertia, makes aiming bombs frustrating.
- Slight lag when CPU-heavy effects go on screen (e.g. distortion from hot air).
- Puzzles are very hit-and-miss. Some have well-designed hints that make you feel smart, some leave you scratching you head and looking for guides. Seriously, one of the achievements has nothing to do with the information within the game and requires a bit of gaming history knowledge.
- Progression pacing is a bit off. After I unlocked the first three (out of five) abilities, I managed to explore most of the game with them; the last two were given very close to the end and with a very short interval. And since collecting everything requires the full range of abilities, I did quite a lot of backtracking for a 100% completion.

Interesting game, graphics are pretty cool, story ok, controls take some getting used to. But I either have to assume I encountered a bug, or the whole "minimal tutorial" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ got taken way too far on this one. Spent almost an hour trying to work out how to get through a wall. Eventually ended up googling a walkthrough and the video showed someone just blasting through it with an ability I already had, which I'd already tried. At first I really liked the way the minimalist intro left you really feeling abandoned on an alien planet, fitting well with the story, but then it was frustrating and limited progression through what (in my fairly limited gameplay thus far) seemed like a reasonably linear story.

首先说一下，这游戏的节奏很慢，急性子的人就别玩了。
forma.8是一款类银河战士的游戏，这类游戏的乐趣就是在探索，获得关键能力，去到更远，更深的地方。猪脚是个倒霉的探测机器人（着陆途中就撞山了）迷失在一个巨大、陌生的星球上，开始一段探索之旅。
游戏的画面是矢量手绘，简单中不失唯美。游戏有物理碰撞效果，小机器人是漂浮状态，碰到墙壁会弹回来。在狭窄的通道中难免碰壁，来回撞击。这个游戏比较考验微操作，游戏虽然提供了地图，但是只标示了进出口，没有详细地图，探索起来很慢。还有很多隐藏的通道，包括勾引敌人来破坏墙壁等手段。所以我前面说了，游戏整体节奏比较慢，不适合急性子的人。
游戏开始不久小机器人就能得到闪电护盾的能力，按A键就能对周围的敌人造成伤害。不久又能得到炸弹能力。伤害更高（小技巧：放置炸弹后，用电击打炸弹，炸弹会成为迫击炮弹，远程发射出去）而且还能炸开碎石通道，打开新的出路。当然随着游戏进程，会解锁更多的能力。
游戏中无非是找钥匙开门，在地图上多探索就行。还有一种限时开关，激活后要在限定时间内点亮所有灯，比较考验操作。
当然boss战是少不了的，难度不大，关键是找对方法，这点跟塞尔达的boss战比较类似。比如第一关的食人花，你应该。。。咳咳，我就不剧透了
游戏是小品级游戏，适合闲暇时间慢慢玩。现在购买还有50%折扣，喜欢银河战士类型游戏的朋友推荐入手。
PS：游戏有个比较严重的BUG，本来游戏是支持手柄的，而且手柄操作起来确实比键盘舒服。我用的Xone手柄，开始还一切正常。但是只要手柄连接一不小心断掉（我手柄用了很久了，连接线很松动）就再也无法连接，更严重的是鼠标也无法操作了，移动鼠标还发出“嘟嘟嘟“的声音，只能重启电脑解决。希望官方后续能有补丁修复这个BUG。

An interesting game. A really amazing atmosphere. Great in terms of exploration. But I'm just not a fan of the mechanics. The whole 'drop bomb -> shoot bomb' primary attack gets really tedious really fast. Would recommend I guess, but just maybe on sale as the execution really hurts the stunning atmosphere of this one

A love letter to the metroidvania genre, this game is atmospheric and immersive in every detail.

Can easily be worth up to 10 hours of gameplay searching every interesting nook and cranny, or around 6 for a rushed first playthrough.

I highly recommend it if you like a good mix of peaceful exploration, obscure lore, the occasional skill-based puzzle and a few tough boss fights.

But it's not an easy game, you have to care about every enemy, and you need to understand the approaches to the boss battles.

So many visually-appealing games have been around lately! I'm utterly spoiled for choice, and this one is no exception. Forma.8 is incredibly beautiful with the way it contrasts the deep black of the unknown and unpassable with the lush and sometimes startlingly bright colours of this strange new alien world.

It's a Metroidvania-style game but it immediately dispels any similarities by having the main protagonist float instead of run and there are no platforms to be seen! You still wander around collecting power ups but everything in Forma.8 is much more relaxing, even the soundtrack.

Forma.8, как чётко и ясно написано даже на странице с игрой, представитель поджанра Метройдвания.
Но даже тут есть свои нюансы. Как то платформинга в игре нет. Вообще. Но обо всё по порядку.
Сперва о сюжете, который тут таки есть, но "Читается" без всякой конкретики.
Нажав кнопку Новая Игра, вы увидите бороздящий в космосе корабль, в котором явно что-то сломалось.
Кстати, эта сцена имеет определённый настрой.
Может это только со мной так, но сочетание музыки и визуального ряда, заставило меня вспомнить классику советского кинематографа - "Москва - Кассиопея".
В этом вся игра. Саундтрек довольно необычен и как будто всем собой кричит - "Мы вдохновлялись представлениями о космических путешествиях, как их видели в середине прошлого века". Даже в моменты подбора здоровья, будут играть ноты на каждом "светящемся шарике".

Итак. Произошла поломка и на ближайшую планету(Мимо которой мы чисто случайно пролетали. На которой чисто случайно есть остатки технологий древней цивилизации) отправляют 8 зондов, дабы найти источник питания.
7 успешно вошли в атмосферу и полетели по своим делам(или нет, тут не совсем явно), а вот восьмая, та самая forma.8, врезалась в здание. Соб-но тут мы и начинаем нашу историю.
Просыпаемся после удара и натурально промаргиваемся.)
Наш герой - обаятельный маленький зонд с двумя глазами-фонариками.
Ну а управление оным....скажем так, вас будто окунули в желе. Но сразу говорю, это исключительно задумка такая. Чтоб не делать игрока имбой.
Чего я действительно не понимаю, как в это будут играть пользователи ПК(кстати надо бы выразить благодарность разработчикам, за то что отвечали на вопросы по ходу и даже выделили ключ для STEAM, дабы я выложил обзор и сюда. Первоначальная площадка - блог Playstation), предпочитающие клавомышку. Управление бесповоротно заточено под геймпад.
Из оружия вам сперва дают только щит - отталкиватель. И лишь чуть позже - мины, которые можно тем самым щитом отталкивать и метать в противников.
По ходу будут открываться новые примочки. Такие как ускоритель и телепортатор.

Геймплей представляет из себя полёты через относительно большие комнаты - лабиринты, связанные друг с другом.
Всю дорогу мы будем исключительно летать по ним, периодически опускаясь под воду, лишь чуть теряя в маневренности.
И да, я написал буквально. Каждая комната - тот ещё лабиринт. И даже в конце игры, когда все способности будут открыты, не ждите, что ориентироваться станет легче.
Карта исключительно отображает местоположение отдельных комнат и никак не помогает вам ориентироваться внутри них.
А порой это критично.
Я прошел игру в два захода. Но подозреваю что у людей, которые разобьют прохождение на неделю или более, будут довольно серьёзные проблемы с ориентированием в игре.
Проблему должны бы решить телепорты....должны, но не решают.
Дело в том, что есть тут такая локация - таинственный остров. В ней два телепорта. В самой игре их больше. Но каждый ведёт к этим двум.
У самого была такая проблема. Телепортнулся на остров, дабы просто проверить, куда ведёт сей портал. Попытался назад, а он меня совсем в другое место кидает. И это была первая половина игры. Пришлось довольно долго снова проделывать путь.
В общем все телепорты ведут на остров, а с острова - только в две точки.

Тем не менее, стилистикой игра берёт. Задники отрисованы просто на ура. Причём разработчики это прекрасно осознают.
Сами локации разделены на несколько зон. В каждой своя....тема. Хайтек, Вулкан и т.д.
При первом заходе в каждую из них, вам открывается довольно большая локация, при этом камера намеренно отводится назад, дабы вы могли всю эту красоту векторной графики разглядеть.
Враги - ну враги как враги. Вполне стандартны для инди, звёзд с неба не хватают.
Боссы же разнообразны. При этом я бы оценил их от проходных, до более чем годных.
Но даже в битве с ними есть свои нюансы. Видите ли, не всегда сразу понятно, как их надо гасить.
Ваши мины всегда будут наносить урон. Ну вроде. Мина во врага попадает, он мигает, мол получил на орехи и....всё. Там можно до бесконечности.

• Très belle composition sonore style "ambient".
• Level design bien pensé et fidèle au genre Métroidvania.
• Bon bestiaire et des boss légèrement techniques.
• Beaucoup de secrets a trouver, de mystères (Enfin a trouver sans aide ! Enfin on se sent pas comme un joueur assisté et ca c'est top).
• Bonne durée de vie et qualité en accord avec le prix. (6-7h pour les rushers, 10-12h pour les 100%)

• Je reste neutre sur le scénario car je n'ai pas tout compris sur le déroulement :). L'interpretation du scénario se fait de votre point de vue et sur votre découverte des détails graphiques car il n'y a aucun texte.

forma.8 is a game of mystery and surprises. With a very minimalistic approach, no tutorials or intrusive instructions, the game places you in a journey to discover the secrets of this planet, all on your own.

The puzzles are good and the bosses are really fun and unique, there are also plenty of moments when you'll be dazzled by the scenery and just want to stop and appreciate the view.

The game is perfect for anyone looking to explore weird alien landscapes, with rewarding moments in finding beautiful places and interesting situations.

bought this on a whim because I liked the art style.
Its liek a "metroidvania" only you arent a bipedal creature hopping or jumping or hovering, youre a little floating ball that flys anywhere, and is affected by physics liek momentum and what not.

the art style is very nice, but the game seems very slow, at least in the hour or so that I played.

The orb thingy could move a bit faster, but Im thinking that will be a powerup later on.

it's a clever idea, and the art direction ties it together for some nice chill aesthetics and relaxing gameplay.

Ever imagined exploring a planet not know to you? Seeing all of the wonderful scenery and the inhabitants. Forma.8 sucks you in as you explore and find your way around the planet you were sent to.

[h1]Story[/h1]
You are a forma, going by the same name of the game, an exploration probe tasked to find an energy source. However, not everything goes as planned. Quickly becoming stranded on the mysterious planet without any of your companions around you, maybe they can survive until you find them.

While there are no dialogues, everything is expressed by body language or what the environment brings to the conversation. While you do know something is giving out a high measure, you don't know what it will be till you get there. The achievements help in bringing what the names are. Before they pop up, it gives a little mystery on why you were sent to the planet.

[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
As a probe, you don’t necessarily have to walk but fly to your heart’s desire. However you will need more than flying to survive. Picking up abilities is important to progress, characterized by a dead forma with a spirit hanging over it. Obtaining the powers other formas had, such as shield and bomb, to kill creatures, progress, or be able to gather items.

There are many zones for you to go through and explore, with each individual area varying in size. Along with a basic map, exploration is brought to the front line. A small area on the map may contain hidden secrets, while a big area definitely has multiple sections for you to explore. At the start, you can explore normally without getting blocked, but as you progress the game will let you know a new ability is needed.

You quickly find out that the wild life here will not leave you alone until you die. Each different creature comes with its own mannerisms unique to them. The basic creatures have nests that can spawn an unlimited number of enemies, as long as they don’t reach their threshold, while the more complex will only spawn if you respawn or go back into the area. For each zone there must be a boss, and bosses there are. Much like the creatures, each boss has a unique way they move and how they get defeated.

A strong factor Forma.8 brings is the way it lets the player figure out how to play with little interference from an outside source, only giving which button activates what. Each power you receive will be followed by a short area where you have to test it out to progress . Carrying on how to defeat enemies based on which attack works on them. The bosses also give you room to figure out how to defeat them by how they act and your environment. The first boss you encounter is a fire plant accompanied by a nest for a fly-like creature. While you don’t see the reason for the nest to be there, the plant will proceed to bring out a ball of light till you do. This is the same with items, the first you receive is easy to get so you can see what they are. Keys are not introduced till you know how to open a door and the artifact collectible does not seem to have any use till halfway. Forma.8 also seems to be proud of showing areas you can’t go to yet, which comes to mind when you finally get the power to access it.

Forma.8 is one of those games that you can easily get stuck in, especially with small areas packed into an area that you can easily miss. How do you get unstuck? Explore. If it’s not that, figure out the puzzle.

[h1]Sound[/h1]
Each area and boss has its own music, easily affecting how you feel at that moment combined with what is happening. As it mainly brings in a calm soundtrack as you explore, a sudden change calls for your attention. If you listen closely, you can hear the sounds the various creatures make, such as the clinking of a crab’s legs or the flapping of wings. Some even having a cue for an attack they have. Being as quiet as it can be, the calm soundtrack lets it easily be heard.

[h1]Art Style[/h1]
Forma.8 has a simplistic foreground with a complex background. You’re looking like a black, round probe with white eyes acting as front beams making it look like a circle of light that moves based on where the eyes are. The creature similarly being black with their own light to show they are sentient. As the foreground is black, the background brings color and designs based on the area, easily distinguishing everything, while red pops out to show that it can damage you if you run into it.

[h1]Performance[/h1]
Forma.8 runs really well. During gameplay there are no stuttering or pauses and the loading screens are decently timed. Going through teleporters is a short process as you travel between each. I did see a little bit of a pause during a cutscene but nothing to be concerned over.

[h1]Replayability[/h1]
A playthrough can be between 6 hours and 12, depending on whether you get stuck and for how long, without going out of my way to look for collectibles. There isn’t much of a reason to replay it, but you can go into an existing save file to find the rest of the collectibles. Since the save files show your completion percentage, it is easy to pinpoint how close you are to completion. There is some sort of motivation behind collecting at least all of the artifacts as it does unlock buffs such as being able to get a speed boost after a few seconds.

Forma.8 is a wonderful game. While it doesn’t seem much at first, giving it a chance brings out a great experience. Exploring and seeing all the different creatures made me look forward to what was coming next. Even though I got stuck or got frustrated in some areas, seeing it to the end was satisfying. It was a ride of emotions that I do not regret. I highly recommend playing Forma.8 when you have the chance.

+ Живые локации. Они по настоящему "дышат". Камера то приближается к герою, то удаляется. Выглядит это бесподобно, а иногда даже захватывает дух
+ Прекрасная музыка дополняет атмосферу
+ Необычное оружие. Я нашёл пока только два вида, но от них я в восторге. Ничего подобного не видел.

- управление "вязкое". Я понимаю, что так задумано, но я привык к более динамичному и быстрому геймплею.

This is a pretty interesting Metroidvania that has a very unique and great art style as well as it's premise. Where most MV style game are 2-D platforming with a run and gun style to it, this game has a little less focus on blasting through enemies and more emphasis on exploration, evading, and puzzle solving. You start with the ability to fly right out of the gate, so you don't find a lot of the traditional upgrades like double-jumps and slides here. The world is fairly large, the map system is decent, there are some fast-travel points, and the controls are decent for the style of gameplay.

I found and collected every hidden item, of which there are a lot, and my total clear time is about 9 hours. If you have ever played most of the other MV on steam, this is an above average amount of playtime for a game of this type, so the value is there.
