Kaleidoscope The Game, Seizure simulator that lasts less than the battery on Quest 3, but overall a worthwhile experience.

WOW. im not one to leave reviews, but idk how I couldnt with this game. This is the first and only game Ive sat through the credits for. Its a short game, but its the type of game that makes you deeply tied to the world its building, it made 2 hours feel like 10 minutes, and im begging for more. just wow

Extremely Short Puzzle game from the early days of VR.

Has a very light story and is very visually stunning.
The Puzzles are tactilely engaging in VR, but to be honest... never really get above what you would expect a kindergartener to tackle and solve. Feels more like a short story experience, or the vertical slice for a much larger game/narrative that never got picked up to be expanded as a full release.
Never the less, I enjoyed my time with it. It did not overstay it's welcome, the audio and visuals were very nice (even for such an old game), and there were no bugs/ technical difficulties. maybe check it out if you pick it up cheap.

Short little VR puzzle/art game, with a psychedelic/scifi vibe. A bit like fooling around with the Stargate SG1 tech and then falling into the portal and having 2001 A Space Odyssey experiences. It was quite good but then they tried to shoehorn some weird story into it about a scientist and his wife and a hospital bed; I don't know why they felt the need to ground it. Why can't I just be a consciousness floating in geometry realm? Or is such an idea too intense for your average audience?
The music/sound was really painful on the ears, there was this weird out-of-tune violin in the background for the entire game making screeching sounds. Interesting choice but I ended up muting it.
Despite my complaints I still feel positive about it for being very creative and experimental with a lot of impressive setpieces.

Relativ kurzes, aber faszinierendes Rätselspiel. Die Rätsel sind abwechslungsreich, nicht allzu schwer und meist intuitiv zu erfassen. Es macht Spaß, weil die Atmosphäre, die Umgebung, der Aufbau usw. alles sehr schön gestaltet ist. Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert, am besten in einer Aktion kaufen. Es lohnt sich für diese ca. 1 Stunde.

I'm aware this is a VR game from 2017 and in 2017 I probably would have rated it as good ... but, let's face it, once the initial fascination has worn off, you start looking at how much game there actually is. And in case of Form there's little beyond what you give toddlers or really young kids to play with. Fit a shape into the right hole, remember a sequence of four ... it's so low level and trivial that it takes more time to figure out what the game needs you to do than to actually do it. Yes, the visuals, music and sounds are nice, but it doesn't amount to anything beyond just that. it's very much like The Room games, just a lot less complex, but with the same bloated, non-sensical self-importance. So, an okay 80 minutes demo of VR with rather poor controls and a tiny bit of story tacked on that amounts to nothing. 3/10.

Form is the perfect game to introduce players to VR. The puzzles are all relatively simple to solve and don't require much, if any, coordination, so they give players time to get acquainted with the controls. The surreal environments are a fantastic and highlight the benefits of stereoscopic 3D. The movement is entirely teleportation based, so new players are less likely to get sick from movement as they adjust to other aspects of interacting in VR. The story is the main point that I found quite lacking. Overall, if you're a seasoned VR user, this game may not seem super relevant to you, but it is worth an hour of your time if you get it on sale or in a Humble Bundle. If you're new to VR or if you want to introduce a friend, this is a great puzzle game to get started with.

A short but beautifully created puzzle game that has some excellent visuals to keep you interested. The puzzles are pretty easy and you are likely to finish the game in one session. It's probably best to buy the Charm Games bundle which also includes Twilight Path, another excellent but short puzzle game, which gives you a 33% discount on the two games.

First off, to be clear this is a very basic 3DOF game with little to no story. If you are a hardcore puzzle enthusiast and you care about graphics then this is worth to buy on a deep discount. It is extremely short and reminded me of Daedalus which was an oculus go game. There is no turning, no seated mode, no settings at all really so if you like something along the lines of mystery puzzle box and this is 5 bucks or under I would recommend. It had potential to be incorporated in a real campaign game but no such luck.

Good: Looks nice, has a kind of sound sandbox mode, doesn't cost a lot of money and I don't regret my time with it :)
Not so good: It is not always clear what is interactive and what is not, but there are usually not too many options to try everything.
Even though it's a short game, FORM is totally worth playing. If you can, grab it while it is on sale.
The art and (sound)design is incredibly good. A must play in my opinion, time well wasted! Worth it!
I struggle to call FORM a puzzle game. It's more like a one hour long interactive movie with a few puzzle elements. About three of those can actually be called puzzles and the rest are a very fancy variant of the kids toy where you need to put the square peg into the square hole.
Nonetheless, I still recommend buying it but be aware that you'll mostly get a pretty sci-fi movie, not a mysterious puzzle game.
The game is what it advertises to be, a nice approach at puzzle games in VR.
This game made me cry in my VR headset, 10/10.

Form is one of the most beautiful experiences i have witnessed so far in VR both in visuals and sounds.
The game is a mystery, the puzzles are not though but they make for a relaxing experience.
Simple but entertainig puzzle game that lasts for about an hour. Very VR-beginner friendly, since you stay in one place and don't really need to move around in game, the puzzles kinda float around you and "set themselves up" for easy access.
It has a nice sci-fi theme. I can recommend it, but wait for a sale (worth for €5).

Medium recommendation. Under an hour playtime, easy puzzles, no character development and story is lackluster. Graphics and sound however create an okayish experience by itself.
I'd assume that the game was well received for when it came out, but times have progressed since with The Room VR setting a benchmark not easily surpassed.

As someone that buys games on a budget, it is hard to recommend at the full $15 price. The puzzles are weren't very tough and the game itself only takes around an hour to complete. They a great job at building the atmosphere and the controls are fairly intuitive. I don't think they needed to make overly complicated puzzles for the short experience they were going for.
For the sale price I picked it up at, FORM is an enjoyable way to spend an hour.
HP Reverb G2 runs at 2-4 FPS. Others managed to get to the menu lowerings the settings to medium supposedly helps. I couldn't physically get to there because the framerate was so bad it was flashing two different images in each lense and could be listed as a torture device.
FORM was very cool, but incredibly short. It took me less than an hour, so factor that into the pricing you're willing to pay.
That said, the world they built here was immersive and unique, and the graphics still hold up. It made me wish for this to be expanded into a longer game with some narrative.

Get it in a sale as it's not worth the full asking price (currently 10.99 in 2022) - you will finish it in a leisurely (and enjoyable) 60 minutes, but probably won't replay it.
The visuals in this game are top notch stunning!!! Its a VERY short experience, maybe 2 hours. The puzzles are mostly satisfying, there was a music challenge that I found pretty tough as I really can't hear the difference is the tones as much as I think I mostly got lucky on that. I'd recommend waiting for a sale as it is really short but definitely worth getting
There are some great ideas here, but don't expect to get much more than an hour of content out of it. Despite being an older title, "Form" still highlights a lot of the promises that come with VR. By the time it was over, I absolutely wanted more of the provided puzzles.

Schönes VR Rätsel Spiel, das visuell und auditiv sehr ansprechende aber kurzes Spiel. Nach 45 Minuten war der Spaß vorbei, dennoch eine Empfehlung wert.

wow that is a journey. superb graphics and very immersive.
at 1 hour playtime, it is very expensive, so i would strongly suggest getting it on sale.
i had a good time, the puzzles are varied and interresting while not beeing to hard.
at a sidenote, it seems to use more VRAM than my usual games, so i had to reduce the resolution a bit to get rid of the resulting stuttering. and you cant grip anything normaly, you have to use the triggerbuttons to grab.
i still recommend it, as i said, i had a good time with it and the atmosphere is realy good. i totaly felt like being tested by aliens. ;)

Hinter diesem unscheinbaren Begriff verbirgt sich ein außerordentlich interessantes Spiel in virtueller Realität (VR).
Nun, über VR ließe sich hier so manches sagen und wollte ich meine jüngsten Eindrücke hier auch nur in Stichpunkten wiedergeben, es würde den Rahmen des Reviews sprengen, niemand würde soviel lesen wollen, dessen bin ich mir sicher.
Daher knapp und kurz: es ist fantastisch!
Jetzt aber mal zum Spiel. Wir selbst stellen einen Wissenschaftler dar, der sich mit - ich sag mal Alientechnologie - beschäftigt und dabei zahlreichen Puzzles ausgesetzt ist. Haben wir anfangs an unserem Arbeitstisch den entscheidenen Scanvorgang abgeschlossen,
öffnet sich eine Art Lichtkugel zu einer anderen Welt.
Es baut sich eine atmosphärisch außerirdisch wirkende Umgebung auf, in der unsere Vorstellung von Physik nicht mehr gilt. Die Schwerkraft gehorcht dort ihren eigenen Gesetzen.
Die Story ist eigentlich selbsterklärend, wird aber zeitweilig von einer englischsprachigen Stimme mit einigen Hinweisen untermauert.
Viel wuchtiger kommen da aber die visuellen Eindrücke zum Vorschein. Die Umgebung erscheint riesig und ist 360° interaktiv. Der sphärische Sound vermittelt eine so räumliche Tiefe, daß ihm im Hauptmenü ein eigenes Kapitel gewidmet wurde.
Der Großteil der Aufgaben besteht nun darin, Mechaniken durch Licht und Töne wie ein Schloss zu öffnen und somit Zugang zum nächsten Puzzle zu erlangen. Man vergisst dabei buchstäblich Zeit und Raum und verliert sich in diesem Spiel.
Nun, da ja jede Münze bekanntlich zwei Seiten hat, komme ich mal kurz auf die unschönen Dinge zu sprechen:
Leider ist die Sprachausgabe nur in englisch, wer das nicht versteht, glaubt von der Story nicht viel mitbekommen zu haben.
Zweitens: Ich weiß nicht, ob das nur mir so ging, aber mehrere Male im Spiel ist mein Standpunkt verrutscht und ich konnte die Elemente nicht greifen. Da half nur Neukalibrierung und Neustart des Spiels. Ein Bug?
Ach ja, - und Punkt 3 ist die Dauer des Games. Es war mir zu kurz! Ich hätte am liebsten noch Stunden weiter gespielt, aber auf einmal war es zu Ende. Sowas von schade aber auch.

Ich hatte das Spiel von einem Freund geschenkt bekommen, der es besonders gut mit mir meint. Schon mal dafür danke!

Absolut empfehlenswert. Ein sehr sehr schönes Spiel mit großartiger Grafik. Die Rätsel sind nicht so schwer, kann aber den einen oder anderen herausforden. Upfront, this is not a long game. It took me about an hour, but I thought it was totally worth it!
This game has tremendous visuals! Early on you leave the real world, and journey into you own mind. Doing this in VR is staggering. The spaces that are created for you take full advantage of the immersive effects of VR.
The Puzzles and Narrative were good as a driver of the experience. The puzzles were not too hard, but the act of discovering how each worked in that environment was a joy for me. The story was simple, but served as a through line for the journey. Each did their job.
Overall, a great but short experience. Still the most stunning VR experience I have had to date!

I bought my Oculus Quest 2 primarily for these kinds of experiences. Visual feast for the eyes with a mind blowing soundtrack.
No movement required really except to look around and use your hands. Puzzles were a joy and felt satisfying to solve. Not overly difficult. It feels like its meant to be an experience more than a hardcore puzzler.
I played it twice because there was a choice near the end I was curious about. Hence my play time.
I grabbed it on a good sale and do not regret it.
This is still my best experience so far in VR.
While I get bored of most VR titles pretty quickly, I didn't want this one to end.
One of the few games where you take the headset off after and almost forgot you were in your living room.
Please let there be a part 2!
I do not recommend FORM (as a video game)
FORM is beautiful, it has great visuals, fluid animations a dope soundtrack and puzzles that would insult the intelligence of a 3-year-old child.
This is mainly an audiovisual experience where you need to complete annoying little tasks for the next pretty thing to happen. The whole thing is under an hour long. If you are new to VR this could be a good first experience but if you are looking for a puzzle game, or a video game in general, you will probably be disappointed. In any case, I would not buy unless it is on a heavy discount.

A really fun puzzle game. Something like The Room or Doors, the puzzles are not hard but the environments are really beautiful and the puzzles are very soothing to complete. I can't wait for another game by this dev.
If you never played any other vr game then you might find it amusing but non of the games "puzzles" were challenging at all or used any interesting mechanics. They are all literal puzzles (put the pieces together) or put square shape in the square hole. Most of the longer ones were just tedious and it was a struggle to complete the game because i was so bored with it. The hands only have 2 animations and everything is stiff as wood.
For the work the devs had to put in, the price of 10$ is too much, i paid like 4 dollars and it was a fair price but the time i spent in the game would be better spent browsing memes.
The visuals or audio left no lasting impression on me.
I will keep it to show to people who had no contact with vr whatsoever but i feel like there are much better alternatives.

Great game, very immersive (I'm playing it a second time after only 2 months just as good second time round).
FORM rivals The Room for my favorite puzzle VR experience thus far. One critique is that the fitting of slide pieces can cause severe frustration and break the immersive experience is a negative way. I really love how this game manages to require thinking but it shines with its use of intuitive dexterity usage. Definitely buy this one, you won't be disappointed. Not sure about the replay value.

FORM is pretty awesome. I don't know what this artstyle is called, the geometric, low-poly, edge-glow amalgamation that defines this game, but I've always had a softspot for the exact style and colors this game uses. It's definitely a game to vibe with.
Artstyle aside, the soundtrack is neat, lots of noise going on though so I didn't get to sit down and wow at it (there is a dedicated mode for this, I've yet to try it, but certainly will because the ambient tracks were awesome).
For the price? Not so hot. I could see this game being a smidge cheaper considering its length (I finished it in a single 52 minute sitting). I'd see $5 as a steal and $10 as about right.
The developer side of myself looks at this game as it if were technical implementation. It was missing that "finalized" feel to it. The development team gives me the vibe that they were tinkering with mechanics and put them into a housing that allowed them to showcase these mechanics in a manner digestible to the consumer.

Well, I can say that "longer game" is a [i]horrible[/i] answer at face value - these puzzle mechanics would get terribly boring if it were any longer, and it'd undoubtedly turn the image of the game for the worse. There's a different angle of attack to take that inadvertently satisfies the "longer game" desire, and I personally think this is the way to go right here: Make it into a story that is told as the player goes through the game, intermittently swapping between storytelling and interaction. Take a look at a title like Quantum Break for example. Use a storytelling mechanic like that and this game will shoot straight into the stars.

Being a 2017 game Form might feel a bit old. You are standing still, looking in one direction only. Using your hands you solve puzzles. (This leads to no motion sickness at all.)
But, it's very well done. It's a finished products that "just works". No matter how stupid you handle yourself in the game, it seems you can't really mess it up. Also there are no timers etc. so it's a really calm experience.
Good game if you want to have some friends try out VR, but not having them smash controllers into walls etc.
The scenery will impress VR newbies, but not anyone used to more recent games.
For hardcore VR gamers in 2021, it's a bit too boring. The puzzles are mostly about figuring out WHAT to do, and then doing it a few times in more and more difficult ways. Honestly I thought to myself a few times... "More of this, again?" a few times in some of the longer puzzles.
Get it on sale if you feel like the price is right for about 1 hour of calm puzzle solving.

was auch immer das gewesen sein soll, es lohnt sich nicht... wirr zusammengestellte rätsel, von der eher einfachen sorte, dafür muß man die dann mehmals hintereinander lösen... wenn man denn mal herausgefunden hat, das man gerade was machen soll... also meistens steht man ratlos da und weiß nicht was los ist.. hilfe, anleitung oder hinweise, was lost ist, gibt's keine... extrem kurz ist's im endeffekt auch noch... bei der umsetzung aber auch besser so... als einführungslevel wäre das was gewesen, bei einer entsprechenden hilfestellung / anleitung, aber ein ganzes spiel ist das sicherlich nicht... mehr ne art übung irgendwas in vr hinzubekommen...
nebenbei gibt's noch einige probleme mit der stabilität, SEHR niedrige framerate bzw. spiel hängt sich auf (steamvr behauptet keine verbindung zum hmd), nach einem neustart von steamvr (teilweise des ganzen systems) geht's wieder....
Ich finde das Spiel echt gut. Die Grafik und die Spielmechaniken haben mir sehr gefallen. Das Spiel ist leider sehr kurz (ca. 1 Std) und somit in einer Session gut durchspielbar. Sonst hab ich nichts zu bemängeln. Wenns im Angebot ist gerne zuschlagen! (Gespielt mit Oculus Quest 2)

It is a nice short puzzle game. As a scientist you solve some puzzles. One door has its own theme as does the next. I was expecting more when unlocking the next segment. The puzzles were nice, but nothing to difficult which allowed me to finish this game in about an hour. Personal I would've preferred something along The Room. 3 to 6 hours of puzzles. With the ability to interact with a few more environments.
Overall it was still enjoyable for a quick in between kind of game.

Highly worth checking out for the visuals alone. Writing this in 2021, I'm amazed at how well this aged. Nice concise game, beat it in around 1-1.5hrs. Story is about as abstract as the art. Funding looks like it was developed as part of a Film Festival, so go into it with that kind of mindset (wide open).

Amazing game, very entertaining! The puzzles are rather easy, but very enjoyable. Too bad it's only 1.5h... still, if you like puzzle games, this is highly recommended!
Man I had a blast! The puzzles in VR are really fun. I still have no idea what any of it means, but oh well. 10/10
ps. Waited until a discount before buying. I got it at 70%, which is a little over $5, which I think it's worth for the length [spoiler]and abrupt/odd ending[/spoiler].

First, I strongly recommend buying this game on sale since it's too short for €12 (Many of the negative reviews mention short playtime or that it's too expensive)
I bought it on sale, and it has been a blast. The music is just perfect for the sci-fi setting, and the level design fits equally. The story is pretty straightforward and the puzzles are not really challenging but fun nevertheless.
I would view this game more as an interactive film than an actual game. However, it is still a nice experience.
