This stealth title has some interesting ideas but the execution is rather lacking. This feels and looks like a futuristic Aragami if you've ever played those titles. The game is rather short and you should finish it in about 5 hours spanning across 8 levels. The story is interesting enough to keep you going but nothing too special.

The really interesting thing I find about this game is the shadow powers you can use. You can become the shadow and use it to climb walls. Levels will have platforming sections that require you to do so. The controls when climbing walls are really wonky and I kept moving in directions I didn't want to unless the camera is facing the wall directly. the problem is sometimes moving from the floor to a wall, around a corner, back to a higher floor, the camera and movement is too hard to move accurately.

I also wish the sections where you use this for platforming wasn't so linear. The idea is great to stealth around enemies but you don't get to use to too often to creatively stealth around enemies. It's really just an extra tool to move behind enemies or to go through the scripted platforming sections. This game would really shine if the levels were designed better to allow creativity.

It's still a decent stealth title all things considered. I don't think it's a must play but if you like stealth games, you'll probably like this one.

If you played Aragmi you can give it a shot if it is on discount.
It feels like a downgrade from aragami but I still enjoyed it much more than aragami 2. I need to node that I didn't enjoyed the movement and combat in aragami 2.
If you didn't play aragami and still buy the game and enjoy it. You should definitely check out aragami.

It's a good game with its own style, story, but it feels like there was a disagreement on the direction they wanted to go or simply tried to do too much and got in their own way.
Each chapter's area is massive, set up for more of a more platformery and more combat kind of way. It feels like the world wants you to explore it but it also feels like 30-40% is for setting only and not actual gameplay. Collectables are really hard to find since they are well hidden and/or blend in so you can run around for hours trying to find that one area you need, hidden behind something you couldn't tell was meant to be interacted with.

В целом скорее да, чем нет, но есть к чему придраться.
Тут интересный мир и шикарная основная игровая механика (взаимодействие со светом и тенями), но для такой роскоши игра преступно коротка. Попытки затянуть игровое время "побочными заданиями" или поиском секретов не помогают никак. А переигрывать не хочется, потому что сюжет средненький, головоломки ("головоломки") одноразовые, а почти все дополнительные навыки и гаджеты не нужны вообще.

great stealth game with beautiful artstyle.

Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a great stealth game, it reminds me of aragami which had two games I love from the bottom of my heart!

Ereban: Shadow Legacy does feel not exactly like arami as this game has a different setting but If you like aragami you can or should buy this one!

The gameplay is smooth, the music is good, the controls are great, the artstyle is wonderful and the flow is perfect.

It´s a smooth ninja-style stealh game and gives you this beloved ´´tenchu-Vibes´´

I´m grateful we have developers who create games like this... otherwise I would probably stop playing games these days as I can´t bare anymore hollow AAA games.

I bought it, I tested it and it sucked me in. I´m loving the game so far and I´m really curious to see what else Ereban: Shadow Legacy has to offer in my upcoming hours.

I actually kinda loved it, the story and characters genuinely got me emotional while also making me feel like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ since I wasn't able to complete gerel's missions and seeing them in the cell next chapter really hit me so the the second I beat the game (endings were amazing btw) I went back to gerel's chapter and completed their missions. I loved the stealth aspect too and going into the shadows is honestly a really cool concept that was really well done imo. and I cannot express how much I love the SYMs and the way they talk. I felt kinda bad killing them after eavesdropping on the most comedy gold conversations between them like "Good luck, you struggled to open a can of beans. Even simple can openers can perform such tasks." I liked the game way more than I thought I would

It's good. The art style and the environments look good, the levels are all pretty good as well.
The shadow mechanic is fun, but it does make the game a little easy, and it made the tools useless most of the time on my nonlethal playthrough. The game's short but the different endings and ranking system, plus the different skill trees add replayability to it.
The story is the weakest part, it's just feels a bit rushed unfortunately.
It's a really fun game, the full price might be a little steep, but if you like stealth games, it's hard not to recommend it.

I wish there was a middle thumb option on as this is a game that is one of those cases. The story is basic bland boring and after a few hours i lost interest entirely, I understand this a indie studio's first game but the writing is as vague and lacking of stakes or tension as you can get, and my god the voice acting is really bad, nobody conveys any emotion at all. And these conversations between characters are not how people talk, it was either written by AI or a person who has never watched a movie in their life. The gameplay is where this shines the most as the stealth game play is basic but well executed. The shadow ability is really fun to use and there are so many missed opportunities for fun platforming as its used so sparingly. However with how slow your character moves and how big the levels are its very time consuming to run off the beaten path to collect the materials to craft new abilities and upgrades and most of them are pointless as i completed the entire game without using them once. For a indie studio's first game its a good foundation, but the price is way too high even for 10$. It was a overall ok game with a boring narrative experience Hoping their next release will be better

Ereban un juego muy entretenido, y un estilizado que te deja muy satisfecho.
Es un juego corto de entre unas 5-7 horas dependiendo de cada quien.
Menos es más, en cuanto a mecánicas son pocos pero suficientes para hacer el juego fluido e interesante, recordando a referentes como AC, también me recordo mucho a Aragami, asi que si te gustan ese tipo de juegos de sigilo dale una oportunidad esta bueno, y con una historia entretenida.

I really wish there was a neutral review, because I like so much about this game... except the game. Allow me to explain as short as I can via bullet points.

The Good
-Graphics and art style are both solid. Wonderful aesthetic, just like a scifi game I would run at the table.

-Character "voices" in the writing sense and voice acting are both solid too. Female-heavy cast without being anti-male, refreshing these days.

-Story is science fiction to the core, very solid. A story about a lying, evil establishment with an attractive "face" countered by a troubled protag who is fighting oppression, assisting liberation, and facing real choices about balancing tribal loyalty, lofty morals, and personal conviction, all without being communist or antiwhite, again, refreshing these days.

-The level design is solid. Good platforming, good exploration, fun side quests, cool enemies, and good challenges (in theory, see below).

The Bad
-Horrible input issues. I don't know if this game wasn't designed to be used with mouse & keyboard, but I had a miserable time with the VERY necessary split-second inputs for both platforming and stealth combat. For a game that's a spiritual successor to Aragami, the devs should've known that snappy, smooth input is MANDATORY for a game like Aragami. I don't know how many dozens of times in my two play-throughs I would fall into a pit, miss a jump, screw up a puzzle, or botch a stealth attack because of the horrid control/input issues. Which forced me to re-do sometimes 10-15 minutes of tedious stealth or platforming, which takes me to the other two critical problems.

-The nail in the coffin for this game is the unpredictable nature of the shadow powers, especially the VERY necessary shadow movement. As mentioned above, sometimes the A key moves you left, but sometimes it doesn't. It seems that this is anchored to both camera view and whatever piece of terrain the shadow movement "focuses" when you activate it. Extremely frustrating and I could never get the hang of it, not in 2 full play-throughs of about 18 hours. It was just impossible for me to reliably use the mandatory shadow movement for precise platforming or doing cool stealth combat stuff. The other shadow powers also suffer from this, such as "shadow swallowed" or "shadow hidden" bodies of enemies still registering as visible, which completely botches runs. Every power I tried had oddities and inconsistencies which made me shy away from ever using any of them and just wanting to rush through the levels... which sucks because the levels are beautiful and I WANT to enjoy them.

-Checkpoints. The game is full of numerous checkpoints, so it's not that you have to re-do 20+ minutes due to a single mistake, but the checkpoint system brings other bugs and complications that ruined my enjoyment of the game. Occasionally some enemies would be automatically alerted when I reload. Sometimes reloading to checkpoint would make enemies or non-coms I left behind many checkpoints ago discover bodies or go full aggro for unknown reasons (perhaps due to shadow-hidden bodies respawning on checkpoint reload). Another major issue with reloading is losing upgrades. Three times when I reloaded a checkpoint, my gadgets and shadow powers would be one step behind in the upgrade process, I have no idea why or how, but the only way to fix it is to fully close the game and relaunch. Finally, three or four times when one of the above problems forced me to reload to checkpoint, the game would actually put me AHEAD of where I was, sometimes to the next checkpoint, once it even spawned me on top of the mission objective in a room I hadn't even discovered yet.

Summary
I deeply wish this game was better polished in regards to gameplay, input, and checkpoints, because if those issues weren't such a major barrier to enjoyment, I would give this game an 8 or 9 out of 10. As it is, I can only give it a 5 out of 10. Again, I wish there was a neutral review option.

Mixed game for me.

It’s not bad, when it works is great, but when it doesn’t… man…

The game is a spiritual successor to Aragami, you can tell this by the game’s minimalistic, clean, and cell shaded aesthetic, as well as because of its core mechanic which is using shadows to sneak around and traverse through the environments. You can make yourself an invisible shadow but only for a temporary time and only if you’re inside a shadow, otherwise you can’t make yourself invisible. You can eventually unlock new abilities, such as a radar that highlights enemies and collectibles, lures that make sound to attract enemies, a mine to temporarily stun them, etc.

You’ll mainly be fighting robotic enemies that have flashlights, if they light the shadows you’re in, they’ll break your invisibility, spot you, and capture you. You can elude them if you’re fast, but for the most part, this is a one-time spot and done, kind of game.

The big issues with the game for me had to do with how unpolished it is at times. This is a game where you’ll get spotted a lot because you wanted to do something and the game decided not to let you; there were countless times where I got spotted trying to trigger an aerial takedown only to have the thing not trigger at all and land face first inside the enemy’s field of view.

In other cases, I would jump towards a beam using my shadow power to attach to it only to have me glitching through the map or alternatively falling -again- face first into an enemy’s field of view…

Thankfully none of the bugs that I experienced required more than a reload of a checkpoint (and the game is quite fair with these) as well as in other cases just using the shadow power to get out of the structure I clipped into. But even though these issues aren’t game breaking, they can be quite annoying, specially because, when the game actually triggers the takedowns, and lets me traverse through the environments with ease, it feels great to play. It is because of this that I’m still recommending it, but again, while it is a great game at times, it’s not a flawless game, nor an experience without its issues.

This is such a well thought-out and beautifully made game. It takes clues from "Assassin's Creed", "Tomb Raider", and quirky indie platformers, and puts them in a unique setting with a story that's dystopian, but still quite different from your standard fare, mixing sci-fi with mythology (of sorts). Traversal and stealth feel really cool once you get into the flow, but camera and controls occasionally turn against you when moving along walls and objects, leading to a string of unnecessary deaths until you've figured out the precise movements (but that might just come with the territory; after all it's been a common criticism of e.g. "Tomb Raider" games since forever). The dialog and lore found in notes can be a bit hit and miss when they try to be funny with pop culture references that might be lost on many players a few years down the line; generally I found the language rooted a bit too much in our present day, pulling you out of the atmosphere a little here and there. The environments and cel-shaded art style are beautiful, and the character designs (especially the main character) are very well done, but just a tad more visual variety among e.g. the Forgotten Suns would have been nice. Special shoutout to the very fair checkpoints that rarely have you replay tricky stealth sections just because you miss a jump two minutes later.

I really enjoyed being in this world and using these powers; I hope this isn't the last we've seen of it, and the studio can take this beautiful beginning and build something bigger on top of it.

Ereban illustrates the importance of minor character moments and fluff in narratives extremely well: Without them, the story feels more like a summary, the characters fall flat and the progression feels unearned. That, unfortunately, is the legacy of Ereban.

The biggest turnoff for me was the paper-thin narration, and some poor writing choices. The story moves from beat to beat in a very linear fashion, and the characters perform the bare minimum required from them. The characters are either extremely serious or jokey and irreverent, the setting is a bit poorly thought out and several nods to other games and real-life things break immersion at several points. T´he end result is that I didn't feel a connection to the world, because it lacked verisimilitude. It was just a computer game world, and a computer game story.

Gameplay-wise, there is a lot of potential. Gliding around in shadow form, being aware of illumination, verticality and dynamic lighting create a wonderful playground for stealth. But the level design itself didn't lend itself to the experience. The third chapter, being an open area, ripe for any approach, was the absolute highlight, and if the rest of the game had the same philosophy, the experience would have been good. But no, most of the levels are extremely linear, with more or less obvious approaches to ensure that you can complete everything even if you didn't unlock any abilities.

The rest of the game is Prince of Persia-style platforming in ruins. Which, to be honest, works quite well. But it doesn't gel very well with the rest of the game. It almost feels like there are two different games inside Eraban, fighting for dominance. A bit more fleshing out, some more content (or just character moments) and less "IRL" humor would have helped.

Eraban is one step further from a proof of concept. It wasn't broken or anything, there just wasn't anything there.

I really appreciate stealth games like Styx (my favorite) and Aragami, so I was really hoping Ereban would be on their level... but sadly, no.
The game isn't bad, but it can't compete with the titles mentioned above or even others.
The core mechanic of light and shadow isn't well done in my opinion.
I'm really disappointed because I believed in the project, but unfortunately, it's a pass.

Game message:
- "Strong females" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The main character, antagonist and almost all other important characters are females, very strong of course. The only more or less important male character is [spoiler]reincarnation of another "strong female" from another universe[/spoiler], LOL. All enemies and regular stupid chars are males and their only purpose is to say "oh, she is so clever and will save all of us! Praise %female_char_name%!".
Different notes and docs telling us about females and their wives.
Story:
- Regular, not good, not bad, become obvious in the middle of the game.
Gameplay:
- Medium with 80% of useless upgrades and gadgets, the only good thing is idea with shadows.
Visuals:
- Nice and stylish, I liked it. The only thing that was keeping me in the game.
Summary:
- Another "modern audience" message just not so blunt and stupid as DA:Veilguard. The bad thing is that when I realized that it was too late to refund.

I don't write many reviews, and I'm by no means going to tell you this game changed my life or saved my soul.
I bought it yesterday on the Summer Sale discount of about $10, and I finished it today - could not stop playing it.
Perfect? Not by any means. There is AA jank all over this title. I'm not sure how many times I fell through the map or was trapped in places my character should not have been allowed in. Also, the camera at times is frustrating in its forced angles.
However, warts aside I really enjoyed my time with this focused, narrative stealth title.
My final run time was just over 12 hours, and that was with poking around a good bit in areas looking for secrets.
It gave me some serious Dishonored vibes - and that can only be a good thing since that series ranks as one of my all time favorites.
I enjoyed Ereban enough to wish this small team goes on to make a sequel.
I will absolutely pay full price for the next one if they do.

I was very hopeful for a true successor to the Aragami series (especially the first game), but there were just too many small things that irked me while playing through the first 2 chapters of the game.

Shadow merge: I love the concept of moving as a shadow to climb walls and sneak past the enemies, but what if I accidentally pressed the button when trying to hide or let go of the button when next to an enemy? The hidden cool down to use shadow makes sense as to prevent people from stalling the shadow ability to gain extra stamina or abuse enemy ai, but a lot of the platforming that I have seen is already extremely tight and unforgiving due to the limited stamina and enemy layouts that feel oddly punishing for a level 2 if going for a genocide run. [spoiler] (referring to the robots patrolling up and down the stairs at the jammer tower) [/spoiler]

I do have gripes with the upgrades and collectible system, but I feel that is only due to how I prefer to play my games.

Overall, I see the promise and for a new concept title it does well. But it just was not my cup of tea.

На удивление понравилась, хоть на релизе ни чем и не привлекла внимание.

Стелс можно сказать без экшена. 8 глав разной продолжительности, которые займут от 30 минут до двух часов. Есть незатейливые побочки, возможности разговора с нпс. На локациях крадёшься к цели мимо или убиваешь противников, решаешь простенькие головоломки, проходишь редкие и короткие участки платформинга, собираешь расходники и инструменты для прокачки способностей, читаешь записки.

Годный стелс, с оригинальной и интересной способностью перемещения в тени. Механик не шибко много и не дожаты, но вполне себе норм. На сложном уровне довольно проблемно, особенно при прохождении без убийств роботов - замечают быстро, бегают быстрее героини и неплохо слышат прыжки вблизи. Люди безобидны, лишь поднимают тревогу.

Сюжет простенький, с финальным выбором на три концовки, для галочки. Минималистичный и приятный арт.

Из явных минусов, разве что условности перемещения в тени - где-то можно менять плоскость, где-то нельзя, из-за чего не всегда понятно куда можно пробраться. Так же раздражала автоматическая смена позы/режима, когда после убийства Героиня встаёт на ноги в полный рост, хотя до последней команды была вприсяде, и наоборот, стояла - что-то сделал, а на выходе сидит. Перемещения в тени порой сложно контролировать, то ли инверсия меняется, то ли ещё что-то. Камера иногда не удобная. Анимации грубые и их мало, поэтому легко сорваться с обрыва. Мало или вовсе нет пассивных способностей, каждую способность нужно переключать/выбирать вручную, что тормозит игровой процесс и тупо не удобно.

Прошёл с удовольствием. Игра полностью стоит своих денег, благо её полная цена сейчас крайне адекватная. Жалко, что продажи оказались около нулевые.

Este juego ha sido una grata sorpresa de esas que no te esperas pero termina sorprendiéndote para bien. Si bien los primeros minutos de juego son un poco "meh" y muy "encorsetados", cuando termina esa parte inicial se abre un mundo genial. Por supuesto, tiene que gustarte el sigilio para que estos juegos te lleguen, pero al igual que cuando juegas al aragami por primera vez, es muy grato descubrirlos. Sigo pensando que los indie les estan enseñando a muchas empresas de "triple A" a hacer juegos que te lleguen, sorprendan y motiven.

It is a good solid stealth action. It's especially surprising this is the first project. My only real complains started at the 4th lever in the 7th chapter, and unpolished platforming sequences in the 8th chapter. With enough devotion, the developers can really try to revive the dead genre of pure stealth games. And also, gadgets except the locator aren't very useful. I wish the developers the best of luck and improvements in future projects.

Normally not someone that writes out reviews but...

I just wanna get the crazy part out of the way, this is the debut game of a studio with like 10 devs, which is wild to me, I genuinely hope we see more stuff coming from this team because this is such a good first step.

[b] Gameplay [/b]

This game's focus on lighting is such a neat little design; shadows let you use abilities, light disables them, enemies have lights, and many shadows are dynamic. This is used so well, delivery drones out of the playable area of the map give you "shadow platforms" to access a secret, or a seemingly pointless windmill grants a direct but temporary path past a canyon of snipers. There's so many inconspicuous shadows you pass over on a first playthrough, only to realize you can use them to actually skip or alter encounters.

Now for "Combat": There isn't really traditional combat. You can only kill enemies while undetected, from above, or while they are incapacitated. The caveat is that alerted enemies turn their flashlights on, and use various flashlight related gadgets to restrict direct combat. However, provided the right circumstances, and with clever decisions, you can kill 2 alerted enemies, it's incredibly risky but is so satisfying to be able to do.
Abilities and Gadgets feel solid, it's easy to gloss over them and just play the whole game using only Shadow Merge and Sonar (oops), but they're actually really effective and are way more efficient to use than you'd initially think.

Last thing about the gameplay, is the length. The game is pretty short, I finished my first playthrough in a bit under 7 hours. The catch is that replay value is actually pretty good, lethal and non-lethal gives you to two separate ability pools. Then beyond that is replaying to complete challenges such as: never detected, kill everything, kill nothing, permadeath, and just the satisfaction of doing levels faster with clever ability usage. Do I wish this game's first playthrough could be 100 hours of constant innovation? Of course (but that's just fantasy), but for what the game is, it's aight.

[b] Non-Gameplay stuff [/b]

The Story is ok, it's not gonna blow you away and have you unironically typing "KINO" in a discord chat, but it serves its purpose in giving purpose to your actions. For repeat playthroughs everything is skippable which is nice quality of life.

The Visuals are actually incredible. The world is awesome (heavy Hyperion vibes from Borderlands in a lot of it). The game just looks clean, and so much detail went into lighting (cause that's kinda the gameplay...) that many environments look amazing. Also Ayana's design is sick.

Sound is also up there with the visuals, the Sonar effects are pure dopamine hits. The soundtrack is phenomenal, like I strongly recommend picking up the soundtrack cause it's really good. The music that plays while enemies are actively searching for you is peak.

In Conclusion,
If you play games like Hitman or Dishonored with the mindset of figuring out the different solutions to the "puzzle" the game throws at you, then this will easily be a great time.
If you play the above games with a more straightforward mindset then I think its important to consider the restrictive "combat" this game has. You can't get caught and then go "i use gun." If that's OK, then the game will be a fun little ride.
You can really tell the devs loved making this game, there's so many little things that show they really put their heart into this.
I really enjoyed it, and am really looking forward to playing more of it.

A decent 5-hour-long stealth platformer game. Although a bit underwhelming in some presentation elements, it makes up for good gameplay, great art style, and a surprisingly deep story.

You play as Ayana, an Ereban descendant who can use powers related to shadows to her benefit. Her strength is stealth and agility when in a cast shadow. As a character, Ayana is quick-witted, and she has some likable moments. She forms connections with people and cares about them, something that is rare for most stealth games protagonists these days. That being said, the story is nothing special, it's not going to make you cry or think about it post-credit. It is pretty large-scale but ends at a decent runtime. There are also multiple endings that you get to choose at the final moment of the game, and doesn't have anything to do with the playstyles unlike Dishonored. The endings are surprisingly good in my opinion. There's no clear-cut which is the bad or good ending, and that's refreshing.

The gameplay of Ereban is what I'd describe as classic stealth mixed with platforming that feels unique. It feels similar to Aragami 1&2 in terms of how advantageous shadows around the levels are. But Ereban utilizes that with high-speed movement and platforming as well. You can submerge yourself in a surface as long as it's in a shadow. So Ayana can scale a wall really quickly, provided it's dark enough. This mechanic gets used a lot throughout the levels. And sometimes it creates puzzles of moving platforms, moving shadows, and possibly, even moving enemies. Each new area in this game presents something new and challenging, and I really want to compliment the overall experience for that.

What makes a stealth gameplay fun is consistency and the ways the game allow the payer to have creativity in their problem-solving. Ereban has a simple concept of typical stealth games, enemies have cones of vision clearly displayed, and some are harder to sneak pass than others. But it's also quite punishing than most games because all enemies one-shot you. So staying stealthy is the sole intended way. And going loud is just the matter of time before you reload a checkpoint. There are also craftable gadgets and upgradable powers that you can unlock throughout the game. And you can find optional resources like crafting components and skill points by exploring the levels. It's great that you have 'almost' full control over what to unlock and use first to accommodate your playstyle. But my time with the game suggests that most of the gadgets and powers are very much optional, and you can reach the ending rather easily without ever using them.

Another thing that I find impressive is the levels' art design. The use of different lightings and the focus on shadows make some scenes of this game so pretty to look at. The industrial environments of Helios, the ancient and mystical Ereban temples, and even the desert of the Forgotten Suns, all of these have a certain flair that will pop back in my head from time to time.

Despite this being a decent game, a lot of the animations are quite a let-down. In a third-person action game like this, animations are important to make the game feels satisfying, immersive, and completed. Cutscenes where characters stand and talk to each other obviously use some sort of public asset, then roughly applied to every character with dialogue. It's jarring seeing it the first time, let alone the tenth time when you're several hours deep into the game. There are also no lip-syncing or mouth movement since every character wears masks. Had the game spent more on these cutscenes and writing, I'd be more invested and makes the ending a whole lot more impactful. But at the same time, it's also an expensive endeavor to improve on the cinematic and high-production quality side of a game. It's one of those unfortunate reality that indie games like this have to design around.

Overall this game isn't groundbreaking or a must-play, but it's fun. The attempt and execution of unique combination between platformer and stealth, while having the shadow-riding mechanic being the main tool is great game design. Enjoy the sneaking, enjoy the scenery. I recommend this on sale.

It is more of a "meh" than a whole-hearted recommendation. Kind of a 6ish/10

Story-wise it holds but feels a bit hastened here and there. I'm most confused by the fact that the main characters become best buddies for no apparent reason other than meeting face to face only like 5 minutes ago. And all their dialogue is written as if they were very old friends. Same feeling with the ending, a bit rushed.

On the gameplay side, the main premise of the game is that you can blend in shadows and climb walls and stuff. That's cool. But that' kinda it. All the fancy gadgets and other shadow powers I was given, I never used them (apart from the one traversal tool they force you to use here and there) because they seemed tied behind a limited munition system and that kills creativity. So this slowed down the pace of the game for me.

And finally, on the visual style, I liked the characters design, they looked good, but the wonky animations killed the vibe. These looked straight up out some cheap-ass lethal company clone. And the environments are a bit bland.

So yeah, while playing this was not unpleasant, it was not the best either.

tl;dr: you are sneaky, go kill, no consequenses attached(ingame ofcourse)

The game is pretty fun, but gets dull pretty quikly as well. its a stealt game, where you are nigh on invicible, in cetrain area's you can almost stand right in front of your enemy and they do nothing. This is what i experienced on the easy difficulty. Story wise not really interesting, a lot of important details are explained once and then never again, and if you play for 2 hours at a time and then dont play for a fev days, you forget the details.

But maybe if you play through the game in one go it is easier to follow.

is it worth the pricetag?
If its on sale for like €15, i think so.

I would refund it if i could. The developers are asking for SUCH a steep price for a mediocre-at-best product. Now, I don't know what their time constraints nor budget were, but I will review just as I experienced it and I'll start with the pros first.

[b] PROS: [/b]
- very cool environments. They definitely put effort into level design because it shows. They're not perfect and the 3rd chapter (I think. The one before entering the city, that has a satellite dish) is way too open for a woman whose sole mode of transport is just running around
- the animations are smooth. I didn't experience one execution or anything else that would bug out and go crazy, nor did the AI has weird interactions
- speaking of AI; their pathfinding is pretty good. Yeah, the levels aren't really complex for their traversal, but I've seen simpler and more complex games with AI that gets stuck on the tinniest of pebbles or just gets confused on what actions it should be performing
- really good concept of fusing with the shadows to traverse the levels. The whole reason why I even bought this game was because I played Aragami, a bit older game with this exact same premise of shadows being your allies and giving you powers and whatnot. Only difference between Ereban's and Aragami's movement is that, here you become a very angry blob, whereas in Aragami you just teleport A to B. I will say that Ereban's movement gives [b] MUCH [/b] more freedom to the player and that's a strong upside
- having multiple difficulties means it can reach a wider audience
- the toys you get (mines and decoys) are fun to use

And that's it for the PROS. Very short list.... Anyways, CON time

[b] CONS: [/b]
- the story. By the Gods, is the story writing awful. You're thrust straight into the hornets nest at the very beginning and it's clear from then that these Helios guys are obviously the bad guys (I mean that for before the attempted abduction part). And Nine/Set casually doom the whole Ereban population because they couldn't do something so 'taboo'
- the VA of can wary from unenthusiastic (Ayana in 90% of the cases) to being way too hyped (Mira, at least I think that's her name)
- which leads me to the next problem: characters are [i] super forgettable [/i] . I can only remember Ayana, Nine, and Set. Ayana because she's the playable character, and the other two because the story [i] really [/i] wants you to remember their names
- the puzzles in general are meh. Some are good but most are just there to extend the run-time of your game
- side quests suffer from the same problem. I tried to 100% my first playthrough and that meant I had to do some very boring quests. For starters. he bird one is dumb, plain and simple. On the other hand, you have the one where you hack wanted 'posters'. I don't mind the hacking itself, but some of those monitors are in such random places. WHO WOULD SEE THAT THING ON A CATWALK TEN METERS ABOVE THE STREET? And another was tucked away in a corner. If you want people to see things, you place them in areas that make them easily visible to any passerby
- bugs, bugs, bugs. Within minutes of reaching the 2nd chapter I managed to glitch myself under the map. How? I used the shadow travel on a rock..... yep, a rock defeated me. And that's just a gameplay bug. I had two different kinds of audio bugs happen all throughout the game, and they're both triggered when restarting. Luckily I at least didn't encounter graphical problems
- this is nit-picky on my end, but I really don't like how shadow travel controls go from following your camera when you're on the ground, to following your movement keys when you start climbing any vertical surface, and having those controls lock based on how you approached the surface. In other words, a small QoL change could be made to shadow travel to make it less clunky to use in parkour
- the skill tree. Why is its progression designed like that? In the first row, you go from having two skills - and their respective upgrades, of course- that focus on stealth, to the next row having two combat-oriented skills. Why? Have one side be stealth and the other combat. I don't even know if and what the 3rd row has because I merciless ghosted through every level. I had 0 use from the 2nd row
- the run-time of the game. I almost 100%'d the game in my first (and only) playthrough, I received the ghost (don't get spotted) and ruthless (kill everyone) medals on EVERY chapter and it still only took me a whopping SIX HOURS. Keep in mind, a guy 100%'d it in FOUR hours, and I could have easily done it in an even shorter period of time had I just ignored the side objectives and gone straight for the end. At least I bought it on discount [b] (which you should too) [/b]
- the ending. Damn, how anti-climactic. Now, there's this bar that moves left and right depending on how violent your run was, and based on that the game will give you the good/bad ending. I killed every worker so I got the bad/ [b] Darkness [/b] ending. That's [i] very meta [/i] of the devs. Except that ending also doesn't make sense.....? Because I killed every human worker I came across (that's maybe two dozen people dead), I became an ultra edgelord and doomed everyone else. I killed a few people and decided "F#ck this, let me explode the universe." HUH? And the 'good' ending isn't good either. All you do is [i] not [/i] explode the universe, but the Ereban are still enslaved and turned powerless, and according to the Schizophrenic voice inside your head, Helios will doom the universe anyways. So what's the point, exactly? Everyone dies now versus everyone dies but in a century. And again, I killed a few people and became a hardcore nihilist that's eradicates all life, yet in that same level you monologue about [i] preventing [/i] that. Talk about a spectrum shift cuz i just speedran optimism to psychopathic nihilism it in a few minutes
- and a throwback to the PROS part about your tools: there's very few. You get a super helpful sonar, a super useless visor (seriously, why use the visor when you have the sonar?), normal and shadow realm land mines, and a very situational decoy, that albeit it useful [i] when [/i] you actually have to use it (spoilers: it won't be often). Combine it with the shadow blind and you have a lackluster arsenal. Yeah, it's a short game, but you could have given us at least one more item

It's definitely a dated game that feels like its maybe 15 years old in it's Game in it's Mechanics alone... It's not a terrible game and has potential to be a good game but what drags the game down is Overall story, Dialogue, Traversal Mechanics and combat all and No Clambering systems. But, The biggest Killer of them all is the glitch I have towards the end of the game where the Camera Freezes on the Final key to opening the gate and nothing loads, there's no buttons I can press except for start to even get me out of this game breaking glitch and now I can't progress the game. So It's what would have been a 6 out of 10 for me dropped down to a 1 because I don't recommend a game that is potentially broken.

The main mechanic is quite interesting to tinker with, but the rest of the game feels very bland and leaves no impression at all. The main plot isn't really engaging, side quests' design feels outdated (hack 10 posters, go to the crow nest and go back, find a note and bring it back etc.). Characters are easy to forget and you don't really care about any of them.

On the other side game is pretty cheap, so i think you may find it worth the money

A sci fi stealth game with nice visuals and an intriguing story. I've only played a few hours. I love the vast second stage I'm on. I'll try to keep it simple. You can hide and travel against anything that has a shadow, and it's how you climb and get to impossible places too. This game is an instant classic, and a winner to boot. I was always a big fan of the stealth gameplay games, and this one will be forever on my list now. The music is really good for the atmosphere. I haven't seen any real guns or weapons other than the energy dagger you use to shut down the robots you are hiding from. The first ability I chose to unlock was the pulse, and it lets you see enemies for a few moments through walls. There looks to be multiple outfits and skills as you progress, but I've only gotten inches into the game it feels like. I'm gonna go play it right now because I'm too hyped to finish this review, so I'll come back to this when I've seen things I like or don't like. This is more of a story driven game but doesn't shove too many details in your face. That's nice.

以光影為核心要素的第三人稱潛行暗殺遊戲，把傳統潛行遊戲的視野概念進行拓展，並全力發揮「暗影族」這一設計元素的潛力，讓潛行的過程擁有獨特的體驗，同時也因為線性流程關卡制的架構，保留傳統的一擊必殺（而非血條），是我很喜歡的一點（刺客教條的血條設計很討厭）。

對於潛行 / 暗殺，本作給予玩家的能力和處理方式足夠多樣，也因此全殺和全放的體驗完全不同，推薦都玩一遍，也順便可以解成就。

劇情方面雖說有數個結局，但整體分支路線較少，也貌似沒有什麼觸發條件。整個故事還是可以的，缺乏變化但也是中規中矩地講完，不功不過。整體來說這款在這個品類下是值得一玩的作品

If you like stealth games, then this is the perfect game for you. This game takes inspiration from Aragami and its shadow merge mechanic, but takes it to a whole other level, improving movement and combat, transforming it into a fast paced stealth game, where agility is important too. It also adds more uses to the shadow merge mechanic, by incorporating it to different puzzles and scenery elements (like moving in the shadows of a moving object or slipping through the drains). The visuals are amazing too, taking inspiration from arabic architecture and using it in a cyberpunk aesthetic. An incredibly well made piece of art for the first game of this studio.

Ereban pod wieloma względami przypomina klasyczne gry konsolowe z czasów studia Eidos i jemu podobnych. Grę cechuje charakterystyczna pixel-shade'owa grafika, prosty, intuicyjny sposób interakcji z otoczeniem i klasyczne ruchy kamery, znamienne dla gier tj. Tomb Rider czy Soul Reaver. Przy tym Ereban oferuje swobodę otwartego świata, dzięki czemu możemy nie tylko decydować w jakiej kolejności realizować misje, popychając fabułę do przodu, lecz również w jakim charakterze będziemy realizować swoje poczynania i jak wpłynie to na poziom trudności łamigłówek czy ogólnej rozrywki? Możemy bowiem pokonywać przeciwników, oszczędzać ich lub unikać całkowicie wykrycia, co znajduje także przełożenie w drzewku umiejętności, które możemy rozwijać wedle upodobanego stylu gry. Ze swojej strony polecam!

Macht schon Spaß, ich habe es in einem Rutsch durchgespielt. Ein solides Schleichspiel in einem interessanten Setting. Mit Schattenverschmelzung durch starke Bewachung und zirkusreifen Hindernissparcour fordert einem einiges ab, und den Ehrgeiz das ohne Fehler durch zu ziehen. Die Grafik ist im Comic Stil gehalten und nett anzusehen. Die Spielmechanik ist ok, fordert aber präzise Eingabe oder Tot. Ich finde die Story etwas oberflächig, mehr um der Geschicklichkeitsübung einen Sinn zu verleihen. Trotzdem stört es nicht im Spiel, das Schleichen macht Spaß.
Das Spiel hat genau die richtige Länge mit ca. 15 Std. Spielzeit. Mehr würde langsam eintönig werden, weil die Level sich im Ablauf ähneln. Zwar steigt der Schwierigkeitsgrad, aber es fehlen dramatische Elemente wie überraschende Wendungen oder neue Spielelemente. Mir sind einige Bugs aufgefallen, an einigen Stellen kann man aus der Grafik fallen und muss zum Kontrollpunkt zurück. Audio hängt sich auf dto. . Aber auch kein echtes Problem, Abstürze hatte ich jedenfalls keine.
Fazit: Unterhaltsames Spiel für den Stealth Fan, eine gute Übung während man auf das nächste Splinter Cell wartet.

Ereban: Shadow Legacy созданная Baby Robot Games, молодой инди-студией из Испании, которые попытались совместить одновременно: Splatoon, Prince of Persia, Hi-Fi Rush, Splinter Cell в одной игре и создать, уникальную по жанровым элементам игру (Стелс-платформер от третьего лица).

По сюжету, мы играем за Айану, последним потомком угасшего народа. Используя мистические силы и новейшие технологии, главная героиня попытается раскрыть правду о своём прошлом и спасти погибающий мир. Таинственная мегакорпорация «Гелиос» сумела найти источник вечной энергии. Игрокам предстоит выяснить, как именно она это сделала.

Из Плюсов:

Саундтрек к игре приятный, как и озвучка актёров. Он не запоминающийся, но достаточно хорошо вписывается в атмосферу, чтобы не отвлекать от игрового процесса. (Лёгкий техно-бит).

Визуальная сторона игры и дизайн уровней, очень приятные и больший упор сделан на минимализм и мультяшность окружающего пространства, что идет на пользу читаемости окружения границ, завязанная на главной фишке игры по механике…
… это врождённая способность Айаны погружаться в тень, что позволяет ей оставаться полностью скрытой при условии, что на неё не попадает свет и что у неё не заканчивается выносливость. Все происходит динамично, от скрытных участков до элементов передвижения, с плавными анимациями и хорошим ощущением динамики (как и базовые механики стелс жанра: оглушения врага, спрятать труп, маскировка).

Из минусов:

Сюжет банален и очень короткий в обертке научно-фантастического приключения, как и внутриигровые истории, дает небольшую отдачу от повествования.

Слабый платформинг и местами неудобное перемещение и переключения ракурсов камеры во время прыжков, стелса (прокачка ощущается как будто лишней и переусложненной, половина умений дублируют друг друга).

По итогу дебютная игра Baby Robot Games не без огрехов и шероховатостей, но интересная, со свежими идеями и приятным геймплеем, всем любителям стелс-экшенов к ознакомлению.

When I used a controller, the movement kept bugging, and when I switched to keyboard and mouse it was...fine. The platforming was fine, but just feels off in a way that made me bounce off pretty quickly.

Унылый клон Aragami, под копирку перенявший механики оригинала, вместе с багами, и наплодивший новых. Как и в Арагами, после загрузки контрольной точки можно обнаружить, что враги, у которых не было света, им обзавелись, а имевшие его - лишились. Можно найти труп не в том месте, где он был до загрузки, что ломает стратегию стелса, а может случиться так, что контрольная точка сохранилась криво и враги, убитые до неё, после загрузки живы, а убитые после остались мертвы, что опять создает напряжные ситуации со стелсом. Механика теневого перемещения слегка отличается от арагами, и это не пошло ей на пользу. Персонаж скользит по тени, и в этот момент управление может вести себя хаотично: либо верно, когда вправо - это вправо, а влево - влево, либо инвертировано, когда вверх - это вниз, а вниз - вверх.
Карты сильно обширнее, чем в Арагами, что на пользу не идёт, потому что огромная (По ощущениям) пустыня, с несколькими лагерями врагов и парой сайдквестов - это просто уныло. Бегать по карте быстро устаешь. Дальше третьего акта не прошел, потому что просто не вынес этого бездарного действа, может быть дальше есть какие-то позитивные сдвиги, но проверять это вообще не хочется.

Оцениваю с позиции человека, который прошел обе Aragami на 100%

A Continuation of the Dishonored & Deus Ex Series.

In short, if you're a fan of either or both Dishonored and Deus Ex, you'll definitely want to check out this game. Made by a small studio, they’ve worked on this game for 5 years, and created something memorable that I wish more people would experience.

The gameplay feels comfortably familiar, like slipping into your favorite pair of shoes after some time away—it feels like you never left. I recommend starting on Hard difficulty right away for the best experience.

Personally, I always spend my time in Deus Ex crouching and using takedowns on everyone, or Blink + Takedown in Dishonored. This playstyle is easily replicated in Ereban.

You’ll also notice similar environmental details, like wall texts throughout Ereban, reminiscent of Dishonored. (I think they even used the same font!) Further references or easter eggs include: 'Karvon Attane,' Mass Effect 3's iconic "Throw it out the airlock" in a lethal playthrough, the Assassin's Creed motto "Nothing is true, everything is permitted" for non-lethal runs, Blade Runner's "Tears in Rain" ending,
a Star Wars sand reference, classic WoW Rogue abilities, and probably more that I’ve missed.

It’s immediately clear that the developers played—and loved—the same games that I, or we, did.
And they’ve drawn a lot of inspiration from them.

I mostly opt for the lethal/takedown approach, but the game also accommodates non-lethal playstyles, utilizing gadgets and special powers. These abilities are powerful but limited, though not to the point of frustration, as you get plenty of materials to craft them. I recommend prioritizing the sonar upgrade first, although its duration could have been be a second or two longer.

Judging by how quickly you can get caught (on Hard difficulty), a non-lethal Ghost playthrough might even be preferable. Then again, clearing the map opens up more exploration opportunities.

The only criticism I have is that I wish more people would buy this game.
You often hear YouTubers advocating for indie games or yearning for a return to the way things were—before all the DEI initiatives, microtransactions, and timegating took over. Before games became synonymous with making money rather than creating timeless experiences. Yet, when I look at the number of reviews for this game, it’s pitiful.

It makes me lose hope for the future, where all the things I used to love are gone, never to return.
Here you have a studio that genuinely deserves our support, offering a game priced the same as a cosmetic or DLC, and too few people are buying it.

I wish more people would promote this game.

If YouTubers genuinely cared more about games than clicks/views (money),
you’d see this game mentioned everywhere.

Like a trusted friend whose loyalty never wavers.

Powerful, original, and useful abilities: 9/10
Due to their strength, you can’t spam the lethal ones constantly, as it would disrupt the balance and difficulty the developers have carefully crafted. Though even if you use them a lot, you will most likely always have a few crafted and ready. You definitely don't feel gimped or short-changed.

Cinematics and voice acting: 8/10
It doesn’t feel like corners were cut, and this only enhances the experience, making it a very good and memorable game. There’s no pointless text to skip through—just amusing conversations between NPCs, and fairly good main dialogue, especially from Nine, which reminded me a little of the Water Dragon from Jade Empire.

(It would have been great if they hired Erica Luttrell as Emily Kaldwin, or Emma Gregory as Minthara, to add a darker tone or make the lethal/darker path feel more justified—or at least somewhat understandable. But hey, I’m definitely biased towards those two. The voice actress of Ayana, Cissy Jones—who also voiced The Absolute in Baldur’s Gate 3—did a fantastic job, no doubt about that.)

There’s some platforming, but nothing frustrating and no silly puzzles (looking at you, Immortals of Aveum).
Near the end there're two minor puzzles but I watched a walkthrough on YTube for those to get past them quickly. Platforming directions are also provided to help with fluidity—nothing that breaks immersion or hinders your playstyle.

Lastly, the absence of a manual save fits the game’s Hard mode.
If you get caught, you’ll start a small section over.
The game autosaves often, but this adds a small punishment for getting seen.
There are ways to force a save, like backtracking or revisiting other save points, so you won’t have to clear out enemies again if you get caught.

The AI is fairly agressive —though NPCs follow standard routes, once they spot you (partially or fully), their responses vary. And if you manage to take out several purple repair drones quickly, having a save point would have been helpful, as you probably won’t get that chance again. (or won't be able to repeat the same line of events.)

All in all, if you’re a fan of the Dishonored or Deus Ex series, or the Ezio trilogy, I highly recommend this game!

This is tough. The game isnt all that bad... its just kinda fine. But your time is better spent on other games (clear something from your backlog instead)
Gameplay - its basic as hell, nothing special about it. It is a full stealth game so no combat just stealth kills (not a bad thing) Its really hard to say anything here, because there is nothing all that good or bad about it

Story - I dont know if there was 5 different writers all trying to force in there own story, or if they just didnt have the time to actually make it sensible. The MC is just an empty husk, no character, no motivations, no reason to anything, but they are written like they have this massive drive to achieve something. As for the world, it makes no sense, contradictions within seconds of statement, incorrect or bizarre word choice. At the end of the game, they explain a whole lot but tell you absolutely nothing.

cool premise, bad execution 5/10 go play something else. maybe play this if you get it apart of a bundle or for free
