the games definitley show their age and are incredibly short but they were really fun i highly recommend these.
I enjoyed this trilogy just like the Don't Escape games, only thing I can say is I think some of the puzzles overall are a bit more difficult to solve and harder to find the component for, don't be afraid to hit up a guide if you're stuck. The payoff for the conclusion doesn't have as many endings as Don't Escape 3 but I still enjoyed it. If you liked the Don't Escape series you'll likely enjoy this too!
Even with all three games combined it's a lot shorter than I thought it would be (2 hours), but it's a nice little gem and certainly a classic from the Flash era that you should check out (when it's on sale)!

THE SETTING: We are inside a giant, pulsing, slightly translucent pixelated lighthouse. The lighthouse is floating on a sea of purple ink that occasionally speaks. The walls are made of chunky, low-resolution gray blocks, and the air is thick with the ambient sound of gritty static and distant whispers. In the center of the room is a single desk made of giant, non-functional keys from a very old keyboard.
Publisher: (Without glasses, staring at the purple ink sea) So, you have a trilogy of nightmare simulators for me?
Game Designer: (With glasses, radiating frantic corporate energy) Yes, sir, I do! It's called the Dee-
Publisher: (Interrupts) Oh, calling something "deep" is tight!
Game Designer: Well, it's actually point-and-click.
Publisher: Pointing is tight! Clicking is also tight! My accountant does both.
Game Designer: It’s super retro. We're talking 16-bit. It's so chunky you could use the pixels to build a garage.
Publisher: Why would I want to play a game where I can’t tell if that’s a weapon or a blurry pancake?
Game Designer: (Grinning) Because! That blurry pancake might be the key to escaping the dream world! That’s where the horror comes from. You just don't know what you're looking at!
Publisher: Wow. Is it hard to escape these low-resolution dreams?
Game Designer: Super easy, barely an inconvenience. You just have to spend thirty minutes rubbing your mouse across every static screen to find the one correct 4x4 pixel cluster that opens the next screen. It's masterful. So the pixel hunting can happen!
Publisher: That sounds frustrating.
Game Designer: Hey, shut up! The reviews say it builds "masterful dread." We don't need fancy graphics. We don't even need high-definition shadows. We just need one shadow that gets slightly closer every time you click. The Shadow People are the worst.
Publisher: Oh my god.
(Suddenly, with an explosion that is purely sound-based and produces NO GORE but a lot of bouncing digital rectangles, MR. TORGUE FLEXES through the lighthouse wall, staying firmly planted in the room.)
TORGUE: DID SOMEONE SAY SUFFOCATING DREAD?! I WANT TO ADD SUFFOCATING EXPLOSIONS OF POSITIVE REVIEWS TO THIS PITCH! I ALSO HAVE SOME NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT THE LACK OF EXPLOSIONS IN THE GAME MECHANICS!
Publisher: What?
Game Designer: What?
Publisher: Well okay then!
(The room goes dark. A spooky van, also 16-bit, smashes through the other wall and parks permanently. FRED, DAPHNE, VELMA, SHAGGY, and SCOOBY-DOO spill out. FRED immediately starts building a trap out of the keyboard desk.)
FRED: Alright, gang, it looks like we’ve got a real mystery! The Shadow People must be Old Man Smithers from the theme park!
SHAGGY: Like, zoinks, Fred! There is no basement! We are in a floating pixelated lighthouse! I don't want to get trapped by Shadow People, man!
SCOOBY: REEHEHE! RYOORE RRAPPED!
VELMA: (Adjusting blocky glasses) Actually, Shaggy, my analysis shows that the graphics are too crude to contain actual snacks. The level of "pixel hunting" necessary would take years.
DAPHNE: (Looking annoyed) Fred, this isn't a museum. Why are you trapping the giant keyboard?
(While Fred argues with Daphne, THE HEX GIRLS materialize next to the keyboard desk, setting up their instruments. THORN, DUSK, and LUNA immediately start playing an eco-goth rock song that clashes with the ambient static noise.)
THORN: (Singing softly) We’re gonna put a spell on this patch notes discussion...
DUSK: And we're gonna add some spooky bass loops...
LUNA: With haunting keyboard synths to fit the retro vibe!
Game Designer: (Stunned) Sir, my pitch meeting lighthouse is getting overcrowded.
(Before the Publisher can answer, a blue-haired JINX rockets through the ceiling on a massive painted missile, landing directly on the desk. She is immediately followed by a barrage of Vault Hunters kicking down what remains of the lighthouse walls: GAIGE, MAYA, TINA, BRICK, and MORDECAI all crowd into the room, cheering and loading weapons.)
JINX: Who needs a careful control scheme when you have pure chaos?!
TINA: Shorty got those low-res nightmares!
BRICK: I WANT TO PUNCH THE PIXELS!
GAIGE: My robot could hack these low-res puzzles in three seconds flat!
MAYA: I could just Phaselock the shadow entity, problem solved.
MORDECAI: My bird could spot those hidden pixels from a mile away.
Publisher: It seems like popular intellectual property is tight! It’s like we have all the guests. A very crowded lighthouse!
(Suddenly, a magical portal opens and RON WEASLEY, HAGRID, and LUNA LOVEGOOD stumble out, followed immediately by MICKEY MOUSE skipping happily behind them.)
RON WEASLEY: Bloody hell, I really hope these low-resolution nightmares don't have low-resolution spiders!
HAGRID: Yer overreacting, Ron, they're just misunderstood blocky shadow creatures!
LUNA LOVEGOOD: I suspect the purple ink sea is actually entirely made of crumpled up Wrackspurts.
MICKEY MOUSE: Oh boy! I sure hope these shadow people want to visit the clubhouse, haha!
(An Irish operative, ZANE, drops from the ceiling to join the massive crowd.)
ZANE: Look at the state of this place! It’s less of a lighthouse and more of a graphic arts accident.
(CLAPTRAP wheels in, knocking over Fred’s trap and bumping into Maya.)
CLAPTRAP: Hello, travelers! I heard we were discussing games with very clumsy, mouse-only control schemes that make stealth sections slightly awkward! That’s MY protocol!
Game Designer: Shut up, Claptrap. (Turns to Publisher, ignoring the massive crowd screaming and playing music) Sir, the trilogy is great! Part two is a masterpiece! It has lore! Hidden note fragments!
Publisher: Are the hidden note fragments small?
Game Designer: They are the smallest! They look exactly like background artifacts!
Publisher: Wow wow wow. Wow.
Game Designer: But the third game! The third game adds chasing! And puzzles you have to do while being chased! It makes the mouse controls feel unstable! It’s brilliant!
Publisher: Oh, being chased while your control scheme betrays you is tight! But why doesn't the shadow just catch you immediately?
Game Designer: Because it moves exactly one frame at a time when you click!
Publisher: Very considerate!
(The Scooby Gang, Torgue, the Hex Girls, Jinx, Gaige, Maya, Tina, Brick, Mordecai, Ron, Hagrid, Luna, Mickey, Zane, and Claptrap all stop talking and stare at the Game Designer.)
Game Designer: (Deep breath) Sir, you have to buy it. Everyone on Steam says it’s a masterclass in making you feel unsafe with very simple tools. The sound design is the best.
Publisher: Fair enough. That works. I love products people have already enjoyed in the past being sold back to them. What did you say the name was again?
Game Designer: It’s the Dee-
ZANE: (Interrupting loudly, with a massive grin) DEEZ NUTS! HA GOTTEM!
(Suddenly, the SHOPKEEPER from Kung Pow! Enter the Fist pops up from behind the giant keyboard desk, pointing enthusiastically.)
SHOPKEEPER: THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS!
(Immediately, SQUIRREL GIRL drops from the ceiling, landing in a superhero pose right next to Torgue and Brick.)
SQUIRREL GIRL: Did someone say nuts?! Because I am completely prepared to eat nuts and kick butts!
(Silence fills the overcrowded pixel lighthouse. Shaggy stifles a laugh. Torgue flexes in approval.)
Game Designer: ...Whoops.
Publisher: ...Whoopsie! (Beat) Why did you pitch me a game about nuts?
Game Designer: (Stammering) I don't know! That’s just what we’re going with! It’s called The Deep Sleep Trilogy!
Publisher: Oh my god.
Publisher: (Smiling) Well okay then! Nuts are tight, but suffocating digital dread is tighter. Greenlight the blurry pancake game! I need to see what happens when the pixel hunting fails and I can’t wake up.
Game Designer: (Grinning) Great! Let’s get you some blocky nightmares.

I like how we explored more of this entity from Don't Escape: 4 Days to Survive.
Although, I miss the Anthology aspect of Don't Escape Trilogy. Also, I like the new movement feature.
Personally speaking, this game doesn't hit the same as Don't Escape Trilogy. Maybe it's because I'm already used to this type of game after playing Don't Escape Trilogy and Don't Escape: Four Days to Survive.
This game is good, but maybe below Don't Trilogy if I can rank it. I guess the story just doesn't hit the same. Again, this is all my personal opinions, maybe others like it more than me.

I finally got around to playing Deep Sleep Trilogy and I’m really glad I did. It’s one of those simple point and click horror games that just gets the atmosphere right without trying too hard.
The whole lucid dreaming concept is really cool. You’re basically stuck inside these nightmares trying to figure out how to wake up, and the world feels quiet, eerie, and a bit lonely in a good way. It doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares. It’s more about that slow creeping feeling that something is off. I actually caught myself being extra careful clicking around because I didn’t trust anything.
The puzzles are satisfying too. Not impossible, but they make you think just enough. When something finally clicks, it feels rewarding instead of frustrating. The pixel style visuals and sound design add so much to the mood. It’s simple but super effective.
It’s not a super long game, but it sticks with you. If you like creepy atmosphere, dream logic, and classic point and click adventures, this is definitely worth playing. Perfect late night game with headphones on.
