Book of Demons me atrajo con la promesa de ser un regreso a la vieja época, como volver a jugar al primer Diablo pero con un giro moderno de mecánicas híbridas. Lamentablemente, me equivoqué. Lo que parecía un homenaje termina siendo un juego que, para lo que ofrece, se queda muy corto.
Le dediqué una cantidad considerable de tiempo esperando que en algún punto la experiencia hiciera "clic" o que mi opinión cambiara, pero no fue así. La combinación de elementos de otros géneros no termina de encajar y, tras jugar bastante, la sensación es de total desinterés. Es uno de esos títulos que, una vez que lo cerrás, no te dan la más mínima gana de volver a tocarlo nunca más. No es que sea injugable, pero como propuesta de ARPG, falla en capturar lo que hace grande al género.

Book of Demons drew me in with the promise of being a return to the old days, like playing the original Diablo again but with a modern twist of hybrid mechanics. Unfortunately, I was wrong. What seemed like an homage ends up being a game that falls very short for what it offers.
I dedicated a considerable amount of time to it, hoping that at some point the experience would "click" or my opinion would change, but it never happened. The combination of elements from other genres doesn't quite fit and, after playing quite a bit, the feeling is one of total disinterest. It’s one of those titles that, once you close it, you have zero desire to ever touch it again. It’s not unplayable, but as an ARPG proposal, it fails to capture what makes the genre great.

Juego super entretenido, por momentos adictivo (como todo roguelike/lite, supongo). Al principio no me convencía, especialmente por la forma de desplazarse y porque en general las mecánicas son bastante simples, pero si sumás todo, tenés este jueguito que te pueda dar unas cuantas horas de entretenimiento.
Me tomó 9 horas pasarmelo en dificultad normal, ahora empecé en dificultad roguelike, así que todavía le quedan horas de uso.
¡Recomendado! ¿7/10?

Book of Demons è un titolo che illude: parte come un'intelligente e stilosa rivisitazione degli ARPG per poi trasformarsi in un test di resistenza ai limiti della frustrazione. Se inizialmente colpiscono l'estetica pop-up e la comodità di un sistema che adatta i dungeon al tuo tempo senza mai resettare i progressi, il bilanciamento nella seconda metà di gioco crolla drasticamente. Il sistema a binari, da semplificazione tattica, diventa una prigione dove orde interminabili di nemici spesso più ostiche dei miniboss ti bloccano per decine di minuti senza possibilità di manovra. La progressione soffre di una piattezza cronica: limitare il level-up a soli salute e mana, senza parametri offensivi come la Forza, ti costringe a togliere sempre lo stesso mezzo cuore a nemici che diventano spugne per danni. Il culmine della cattiva gestione si raggiunge nel finale, ovvero un'ultima quest punitiva che ti lancia in una Horde Rush priva di ricompense in oro, lasciandoti senza risorse o refill proprio quando ne avresti più bisogno. È un peccato, perché un design più curato della difficoltà avrebbe reso giustizia a un'idea di base molto originale.

Idk why there are so positive reviews, on paper (pun intended) the game looks fun, but it is way too clumsy, the progression is slow and most importantly (as for "deckbuilding" game) - the deck haves very low impact on actual gameplay.

absolute trash. you have a max attack range, they do not. gargoyles will only become damageable after you get close enough for them to attack you. priests have poison attacks that, again, have no max range. priests can spawn suiciders. WHY DOES EVERY ♥♥♥♥ DEV HAVE SUICIDERS?! when you enter a room, you cant leave until it is clear. get ready for the rape as multiple priests spawn in suiciders en-mass to ♥♥♥♥ you up. leveling is ♥♥♥♥. on level up, you get two leveling points. you are only allowed to spend one on health or mana, and the other is banked. on level up, you also get a bonus item/ability card, which is also banked. banked points and items can only be collected from town, at a fee, that grows exponentially. did i mention, death of any kind RESETS THE BANK?! bye bye all those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels! by your character level doesnt decrease, so all that hard work is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GONE.

Book of Demons é um titulo criativo, o qual, particularmente, gostei bastante, principalmente o visual utilizando a temática de papelão e livro pop-up, mas a mecânica de trilhos (caminho fixo a seguir que não dá liberdade de movimento) na gameplay não me agradou muito.

[h3]Ter paciência é obrigação:[/h3] Tentar rushar nesse jogo é morte certa. Não dá para simplesmente ignorar inimigos sem ser encurralado depois.

[h3]Joystick:[/h3] Jogar no controle não foi muito agradável, a seleção automática atrapalhou e é lento mirar no alvo utilizando o analógico. Definitivamente mouse e teclado é a melhor escolha.

[h3]Estética e Referência:[/h3] Como já citei, curti bastante estilo visual. Porém a trilha sonora é okay, não me chamou muita atenção, exceto por um easteregg a abertura de Game of Thrones. Isso me fez pensar que deve haver outros eastereggs, mas que passaram despercebido por não conhecer as obras da referencia.

[h3]Por fim:[/h3] Gostei bastante, mas fazer o 100% se tornou chato pelo jogo ser exacerbadamente repetitivo. São três heróis, mas as masmorras e inimigos são a mesma coisa. Vale a pena ter uma experiência casual, mas obter todas as conquistas exige muita paciência.

Karton/kâğıt görsel stili çok karakteristik ve oyuna kimlik kazandırıyor. Animasyonlar sade ama akılda kalıcı. Müzikler ve ses efektleri atmosferi destekliyor.

Oynanış tarafı alışılmışın dışında olduğu için herkese hitap etmeyebilir. Kart sistemi strateji katıyor ama aksiyon beklentisi olanlar için tempo düşük gelebilir. Buna rağmen build çeşitliliği ve zorluk ayarları tatmin edici.

En büyük artısı ise Flexiscope sistemi:
Oyunun süresini kendi vaktine göre ayarlayabilmen büyük rahatlık.

you walk on a linear path (which if it was balanced around that wouldnt be bad) and ranged enemies shoot you out of range and you just have to tank it until you die, respawn, try again,and hope they miss enough times so u can reach them. Literally nothing else you can do.

The characters in [i]Book of Demons[/i] are drawn as if they were made of paper, albeit with a darker and smoother color palette, reminiscent of printed posters. The dungeon environments are designed to look like old-school RPGs with a focus on dark colors. This design choice makes it easy to see elemental enemies since they will have a colored glow that matches their element.

[h3]Story[/h3]
There isn't much to the story. All you'll get is the normal story of a hero who is saving the world. You'll be given wall of texts from the NPCs, telling what happened to them and the village you are in. Well, at least you'll get to listen to a song after finishing the game.

[h3]The Game[/h3]
[b]Gameplay[/b]
[i]Book of Demons[/i] is a hack-and-slash with randomly-generated dungeons. Dungeon size is flexible—five available sizes can be chosen depending on the time you have to spare. You can only choose the smaller ones first, though. The bigger dungeons will only unlock after you play a few times. Completing these dungeons, regardless of the size, will contribute to the progress depth, which, when a certain depth is reached, will lead to a boss dungeon that ends that act.

There are three acts, each focusing on different elements: poison, ice, and fire. The final bosses at the end of these acts won't adhere to these elements, but enemies in that element will be more abundant. It won't guarantee that you won't find enemies in other elements in that act, though, although they will be found less often.

Dungeon size seems to only estimate your playtime instead of adjusting it based on a predetermined time. The roguelike mode, one of the difficulties available in the game, might seem to make you think it's not, but due to the limitations, you are forced to finish the dungeons slower than usual. Moreover, the progress for each playtime in that mode will contribute less to the progress depth. These give an illusion that the dungeon size is adjusting to your playtime.

Since dungeons are randomly generated, with each run contributing to the progress depth, you'll be forced to do the same run several times. It will take around 2 very big dungeons to reach the next act, meaning that you can roughly finish the whole thing in ~8 hours depending on your speed. There is a freeplay mode after that, where you can continue playing, and this is where the grind starts.

The game offers three classes: warrior, rogue, and mage. Each has different skills, which are available in the form of cards. These cards drop from enemies randomly and have certain rarities. Unlocking the card for the first time will net you a bronze card, and you can get silver or gold rarities from another random drop afterward. However, since the card drops are randomized, you won't know which one you'll get. Both casual and normal modes minimize the unfairness by ensuring you get the vital cards before each act, although you won't be able to get all the cards even by the time you finish the game. It can take roughly the same time as the time you spend beating the final boss to get them all. And if you want to upgrade them all, it will take way longer than that. I know these are mostly just for completionists who aim for 100% achievements, but this can be discouraging, especially when you have to play it three times with all classes.

[b]Dungeons[/b]
Dungeons are split into several rooms based on the dungeon size. In it, you will have to find the exit, although treasures, which will be useful to beat the game, are spread throughout the room. These treasures can vary between a chest and a miniboss. In greater difficulty, these minibosses will disable some of your cards, forcing you to find another replacement.

Despite being a hack-and-slash game, there is no free movement. Your movement is limited to a linear path, even though enemies can walk outside of it. However, some skills allow you to bypass these by having a knockback skill or a skill to move to another area quickly.

Bosses and minibosses have several stages. Each stage has different behavior: some will require you to hit them until their hearts run out, others are trickier, like staying within the boss's circle for a certain time. They can't be hit during the stage change, and their skills that are activated during this time can't be cancelled, unlike normal skills.

However, some bosses in the greater difficulty can be unfair. You might be forced to grind to upgrade a certain card to mitigate their high damage since they can damage you quickly with a deadly attack. There is a boss that can slam you for 70% of your HP, which was done twice. If both attacks land without you doing anything, you'll be guaranteed a game over.

[b]Length and Difficulty[/b]
I finished the game for the first time in 9.4h in normal difficulty. The game has 3 difficulties: casual, normal, and roguelike. I then finished the game with all classes and beat the game in the roguelike difficulty for the achievements. Beating it took way longer than it should have, and it was boring, especially since all it adds is a grind rather than difficulty due to the limited resources. For example, amulets that heal both health and mana work outside combat in casual and normal, but in roguelike, they only work during combat. Since healing costs money and you need to save money in case you die (which also costs money in roguelike mode), you end up having to kite an enemy within the amulet range to recover your health and mana.

The game's repetitiveness seems to be its main downside. You'll be forced to do the same thing all the time, making it easy to get bored. And when the game is ending, it suddenly gives a post-game content that drags the playtime: a freeplay mode where you can play in greater difficulties during the dungeon size selection: standard, hard, nightmare, and massacre. If you die in all but the first difficulty, you'll get a gold loss penalty. Dying in the last two difficulties will also incur a card loss. This just makes the game worse: it introduces a grind on top of a grind. I like how the game tries to make you change your strategy by forcing some cards in the card slot, but that rarely works since you will end up reusing the same 5 cards to enact the same strategy.

[h1]Conclusion[/h1]
[i]Book of Demons[/i] might be interesting at first, but you'll feel the repetitiveness quickly. The game barely has any challenge, and even the ones that seem hard feel more like badly designed rather than difficult. The grind that is needed to 100% the game will also make any achievement hunter suffer, especially since the game already feels repetitive even before you finish the game. Because of that, I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this game.

A real nice texture arpg.
Based gameplay is hns ofc till your mouse crashes or they die.
There's 3 classes I only completed the first one but in future I'm gonna complete the rest.
Graphics it's not the way to look for it but the style of those textures is really lovely.
U feel the textures are fighting for u when u melt down those caracans.

There's no hns/arpg leveling system like. Cards allows you to be more significant attacking, surviving or ignoring damage. Even if you want you can use some spells like charge them or simply damage from above. But remember I was only playing with based class I dunno the rest possibilities of cards and spells.

When you hit the level up you can only choose a +1hp or +1mana. Believe me don't spend any points on hp cuz the game will anyways give you that in some secrets or later when you retrive them by buying them from claudron.
That system works pernament till you die or retrieve some things that are based to it by pick up some rest. For example even when you level up that mana the hp point will be there just to be retrieved. But remember so every buy of that claudron will cost more at every single time. Don't worry you'll not be using it multiple times just some :P or maybe you're jsut a weak player.

Then after the main game there will be a freeplay mode which system stole a money from you when u die that's 20%. The hardest difficulty you'll unlocked and play will cost you even more and you'll be loosing some of your cards. But even when you loose you can just continue with that standard 20% loss of money and still find em quickly.

Anyways I was really enyojing this game some hate was too when I was struggling on those stupid hard mods and some deaths but the rest of the gameplay was realy great. I was simply hacking slashing and banging some metal music so yeah!

It's weird, I feel like I shouldn't enjoy this game at all, but I really do. It's kind of like "Diablo on rails".
I absolutely love the system that lets you choose if you want longer or shorter levels. It's perfect for someone like me who loves to hop between different games all of the time. It makes a level feel like less of a commitment.
The game gets even better as you go along because it gets way more chaotic with more enemies which scratches that same itch as destroying tons of enemies on PoE or Diablo.
I'm still early on the game (just defeated the first big boss, The Cook) but i can see myself going on for a while for sure.

This is a great game with alot of good ideas, but... its about 6.5/10 or 7/10. This game need alot more OST with better atmosphere and more death animations for enemies. Like unique death animation from poison, fire, lightning and frost and funny screams with that. I was verry imprest with the game at first act and first boss, but after that i was lying on the table out of boredom. Progression system is fine, some skill verry fun but everything getting verry old realy fast because there no unique animations, songs and enemy reactions for your actions... And i didn't find any secrets... IN DUNGEON WITH ZOMBIES AND SKELETONS!!!!!! Or they hiding them to well or there's no secrets...

So that's my conclusions, it's very uniq game with some fun mechanics but just luck some polish-finishing touches here and there. If you liked the trailer, i would say go for it, but maybe on sale.

It's a tabletized rip-off of Diablo, with a few added bits one would expect of mobile gaming, but I didn't see anything particularly wrong with the implementation (beyond the Skinner box type constant interaction etc expected from a mobile type game).

If I could give this a sidevote "Eh", I would. Personally, I have the OG Diablo 1 (not the redo from modern Greedizzard), so I'd rather just load that up in DevilutionX and play that -- I don't have to unlock classes, meaning I'm not stuck playing five levels as a dude.

(Make a note of that, game devs: It's 2025. Nobody likes gender locked classes, they should be left in the past. If you don't have the budget to draw/model two versions of everything, just make one androgynous character model with great hair each, and make the fact it makes Christofascist weirdos cry and question their sexuality a marketing feature.)

Вот я и прошёл игру. На это понадобилось 10 часов. Даже какие-то редкие ачивки выбил. В целом, весьма прикольная игра, как в плане визуального так и игрового дизайна. Но, после 2/3 игры начинает утомлять если честно. Геймплей к тому моменту не даёт новшеств, а вот враги становится слишком жирными и это просто затягивает бои. О том, что сыграл - не жалею. Особенно с учётом покупки по хорошей скидке. За фуллпрайс не уверен, а по скидочке сможет вполне себе быть хорошей покупкой. Как минимум, это действительно необычный "дибло-киллер".

This is a decent dungeon crawler, not much of a deck builder, the game seems highly based on Diablo which gives it some element of playability. I did enjoy playing it but it is quite slow paced and really doesn't offer much apart from tons of clicking if the Diablo element wasn't there, I think this game would be a flop.

Если вынести за скобки политические дрязги последних лет и связанную с этим позицию авторов игры, стоит заметить, что столь положительные отзывы вызывают все больше вопросов по мере того, как игрок проходит основную кампанию и видит многочисленные проблемы проекта.

В основе своей задумка у игры, конечно, занимательная: нахально пародируя первую часть Diablo (и делая это смешно, скрывать не буду), Book of Demons сильно привлекает своим "бумажным" стилем и простой концепцией, где есть три героя, хаб, подземелья с монстрами, боссами, лутом и движением по рельсам туда-сюда. Игрок собирает различные карточки, условно делящиеся на 4 категории: апгрейды, расходники, шмотки и заклинания. С первой категорией все предельно просто - находишь нужные карты-> вливаешь их в усиление имеющихся->профит. Красные карточки расходников имеют заряды, который нужно восполнять (зелья, к примеру, будут в этой категории). Синие - это способности, тратящие ману за каждое использование. Зеленые - вещи, резервирующие часть вашей маны для получения постоянных пассивных эффектов.

Но большая часть игры - это клики по врагам. Осатанелые, вызывающие боль в руках от монотонности и многократных повторений (и это говорю я, человек, у которого уже горсть обзоров на "однорукие" игры, если вы понимаете, о чем я). Это центральная часть игры, и боже, это просто катастрофа.

Здесь отдельно стоит обратить внимание на один нюанс: судя по достижениям, мало кто вообще прошел игру до конца. В нее забежали, потусовались на первых этажах, лениво покликали, покекали с отсылок - и забыли, дай бог вообще дойдя до одного из трех главных боссов. И если в нее играть именно так - без намерения пройти, по настроению под вечер прыгать на полчаса и бездумно тыкать - то игра будет стоить своих денег. А, судя по оценкам, так в нее и играют. Во мне ли дело, как в [strike]конченом[/strike] конечном пользователе? И да, и нет.

"В чем проблема?" - закономерно спросите вы. Ну.... Начнем с того, что несмотря на наличие трех героев, развития механик как таковых в игре почти нет на протяжении всего путешествия. Точнее как - есть. Но сводится все к тому, что вы тупо будете кликать больше. Ключевые слова тут - "больше" и "тупо". Поясню немного за базар: если игра построена по принципу приобретения новых возможностей, то как правило усложнение связано с тем, что для решения новых задач вы жмете больше разных клавиш. Условный протагонист из метроидваний разживается гаджетами, которые заставляют не только тупо бить и прыгать, но и совершать принципиально новые маневры. Или, скажем, если слэшеры - то речь будет идти о новых комбинациях ударов. Если же мы говорим про игры, завязанные на цифрах, типа тех же Diablo, то вы жмете все те же кнопки, что и на старте, но видите, как по факту ценность каждого вашего клика кратно растет - и ваш удар спустя полчаса игры наносит не условные 10, а 35 урона по врагу, вынуждая вас погрузиться в билдостроение для повышения эффективности каждого нажатия. Даже кликеры приводят вас к системе апгрейдов, где каждый клик дает больше - либо начинает вообще быть автоматическим! Ну а условный рогалик настолько меняет с каждым забегом ситуацию, что есть неиллюзорный риск столкнуться с неэффективностью старой тактики в новых условиях, выставленных рандомом.

Отсюда вопрос: а чем пытается быть Book of Demons, если не дает прогрессии и развития ни в одном из этих направлений? Принципиально новых фишек геймплея не появится после первых 10 минут; рандом не создает уникальных ивентов; карты не имеют четко выраженной особой синергии в большинстве случаев; даже придя к финальному боссу за лучницу, я все также наносит урон в 1 единицу, как и в начале игры. В чем развитие, собственно?

Зачем оно все, рили? Вероятно, конечно, игра не такая душная в легком режиме, но на "сбалансированном" (кавычки тут с издевательской иронией) вам понадобятся две новые пары рук, если хотите играть больше часа подряд. А тот же режим рогалика не дает, в сути, ничего, кроме усложнения уже и без того душного геймплея.

Отдельная срань: отсутствие боевой паузы. На последнем биоме, когда на вас с ходу могут накинуться три элитника со спавном миньонов, лечением своих и неуязвимостью соответственно, вы просто не понимаете, куда бить и кого первым пытаться устранить. И жрете расходники с целью просто, блин, выжить перед волной прущего на вас мяса. А звуковой дизайн, вроде бы и неплохой поначалу, в такие момент доводит до скрежета зубовного из-за репетативности.

Вы, может, скажете, что все диаблоиды - про то же самое, да? Я также думал, пока после победы над финальным боссом не включил ради эксперимента первый Sacred и не прочувствовал разницу. Любой(!) плюс-минус известный представитель жанра hack'n'slash RPG вам даст на порядки больше разнообразия, больше слоев геймплея, но меньше идиотских ограничений ("не ходи туда, ходи сюда"). В таких играх вы нативно ощущаете, что новый меч бьет сильнее, а не идете с карточкой оного в хаб, чтобы по стоимости годового ВВП Нигерии получить ШАНС(!) на более сильный удар.

Ну и совсем молчу про катастрофически унылые гриндовые достижения в стиле "сделай что-то 10, 100, 1000 раз и не умри от скуки".

А ведь когда-то, лет десять назад, люди возмущались, что третья Дьябла уже не та... Да на фоне Book of Demons - это пик разнообразия и четкого понимания того, зачем народ в такое играет и как этот народ развлекать. Прости нас, Diablo III, мы были слишком строги с тобой...

Что по итогу? Да, это великолепный, стильный и местами оригинальный оммаж на первую часть Diablo; и нет, эта игра так и не определилась, чем она является. Я могу лишь помочь определиться вам - и не рекомендовать эту игру, если вы не хотите ускорить появление у себя запястного туннельного синдрома.

Nunca pensé que un Diablo "hecho de papel” me iba a atrapar tanto. Lo compré de curioso, pensando en probar algo distinto un rato… y terminé atrapado en esa trampa mortal conocida como “una mazmorra más”.

La estética es lo primero que te engancha: todo parece un cuento de papel recortado, como si hubieras abierto un libro de la infancia. Pero ojo, porque detrás de ese look simpático se esconde un dungeon crawler con más maldad que los esqueletos de Diablo en modo pesadilla.

El sistema de cartas es adictivo a otro nivel. Al principio parece fácil: esta carta para pegar, esta para curar, esta para tirar fuego… y de repente estás pensando estrategias como si fueras un general planeando una guerra. Y claro, cuando perdés porque un enemigo bloqueó justo tu hechizo favorito, terminás echándole la culpa al juego… aunque en el fondo sabés que fue tu error.

Otra cosa genial es el Flexiscope: vos decidís cuánto querés jugar. Una partida de 10 minutos mientras tomás un café… o tres horas que se sienten como diez minutos porque no podés parar.

El combate parece simple porque te movés por caminos fijos, pero la variedad de enemigos lo hace muy dinámico. Cada vez que aparece uno nuevo, sabés que algo va a salir mal (y casi siempre sale). Y mientras tanto, los NPC del pueblo te tiran diálogos que tienen ese humor que te saca una sonrisa justo cuando estás al borde de renunciar.

*En resumen:
-Visual único, parece un cuento pero pega como cachetazo de padrastro.
-Sistema de cartas que engancha una banda.
-Flexiscope: tu nuevo enemigo si pensás “solo un ratito más y nah, ni ahi”.
-Perfecta mezcla de humor, estrategia y desafío.

Si te gustan los dungeon crawlers, o simplemente querés un juego distinto que te sorprenda, dale una oportunidad. Eso sí, te aviso: Book of Demons no se juega… se habita. Y una vez que entres, salir es más difícil que derrotar al Archidemonio del juego.

Looks good, nice ideas horrible mechanics like the shield being an icon that shows in random areas of the enemy and needs to be clicked before being able to do damage, hate the ability icon that shows on enemies but sometimes you can't click it to disable it because it's slightly out of range or hidden under the top bar that has the bosses phase progression and worst of all.. enemies that jump around and you have to slowly make your way to get them.
Final boss has all of these and mobs, that sometimes take way too much life, to prevent you to get to the boss during the fight.

For casual play the game is great, but after the campagin the game turns into annoing slug-grindfest, so if you want to 100% it, you WILL suffer.

- Heavily RNG dependent
- Unbalanced cards, some are must-haves on every character, some are completely useless.
- Unskipable animations and UI that makes everything take forever
- Freeplay feels horrible and everything that felt good and nostalgic in the campagin turns ugly really fast.
- Many mechanics, which in freegame become too much to keep track of.
- There is no reason to play with the other 2 classess after unlocking them, as they do not change the gameplay in any meaningfull way, and only force you to replay the game for achievements. No new lore, no new secrets, half of the cards stays same, the new class-specific cards are all about the same just with different painting. Many class-specific spells are garbage anyway.
- There are some original achievements, sure, but most of the achievements that you will be grinding for are there just to artifically increase your playtime with mindless worthless grind, that you will be doing even after beating the whole game with all the characters, at which point, the game has overstayed its wellcome and feels extreamly boring and flustrating to play.
- While the writing in the campagin is ok and feels like a parody of Diablo 1, after playing the Rogue (a female character) I have a strong feeling that some female developer inserted herself into this character, and is constantly spewing ♥♥♥♥ about "her ex", and it feels extreamly cringe.

This game is kinda like when you asked your mum to get you Diablo for your birthday after you played it at your friends house for a couple of hours,

But she said no because its demonic and we should reject Satan and only do what makes Jesus happy.

So you got upset and went to your room and made Diablo yourself with cardboard and it was a bit different but kinda the same and you enjoyed playing it secretly when your mum was at church.

And when you were at school you could sort of pretend you had Diablo at home and talk about playing it with your friends.

But then one day your mum found your hidden cardboard Diablo and made you watch as she tore it to pieces and burned it in the back garden and as your cried she told you to read the bible instead of wasting your time on evil games.

Now many years after the tragic and accidental death of my mother in that terrible house fire, I sit alone in the dark staring blankly at the wall contemplating the gaping void of my life at least I had a precious few hours of solace with this game to remind me of those wonderful times I had playing with myself secretly in my room away from my mother happy just me and my cardboard Diablo.

A fun homage to Diablo II, this is an interesting little spin on an ARPG genre. Plenty of builds to attempt, and while some of the pathing can be frustrating, if you twist your perspective it provides its own unique challenge to overcome and strategize around. Great game!

I recommend Book of Demons on sale for $15 or less. There's a lot to like but I find that the Paper Diablo format falls apart under the added mob "complexity" by the third act and the finale, post-game and harder difficulties often become a chore. It's an enjoyable reheating of Diablo 1 until then. The $25 price tag is worth it if you fall in love with this particular style of masochism, especially picking up a lot more play time trying all of the classes.

There's nothing new being done with the setting, another admittedly solid brick in the legacy of game devs remaking Diablo 1 or 2 as homage. It's the exact same story beat for beat. BoD is more tongue in cheek about it, mostly in the sassy banter of the player characters, the waaaaacky bosses and the on the nose townsfolk dialogue, but it gets the job done in being a bleak descent into a haunted church and then Hell, fighting the undead and demons all the way. Some referential achievements and picking up turds doesn't make for a bad game, I'm a fan of Binding of Isaac after all. The humor can be amusing(Anti-Pope hit just right) and the hero personalities and voice actor work are the best additions.

What sets BoD apart from Diablo is that you're in a simplified ARPG, think Paper Mario where damage values cap around 1-3 but you can still build up pleasing combos and burst beyond the power curve, and a rogue-like/deck-builder game. There's separate difficulties for post-game so you'll play the campaign on normal + casual/normal(ahh, normal normal for normies) or normal + rogue-like, which truly randomizes card acquisition vs getting them in a semi-set order. Cards grant your abilities, consumables and some "gear" which are passives that trade max mana for benefits. That's right, it's an ARPG with almost no loot other than some resources and the cards themselves. There is some pleasing inventory management at least, especially as the rogue. Paying a cost in consumable gear or mana to equip a click enhancer is a smart addition to the genre.

Where BoD hits or misses is the additions it makes to the noble field of left-clicking monsters past that. Some monsters are armored and you have to get close enough to click down their shield barrier. Some cast spells and you need to be close enough to click and block their spells. Some are fire, ice, poison or stone. Poison heals against your poison, fire and ice want you to use elemental counters and stone cheats. Positioning matters a lot and from there you learn to recognize enemy varieties, with zombies tending to be poisoned and explode on death, the various casters, spiders like to ambush you to force you into melee and gargoyles waste your time.

Right, time for the turd coin in the room: the more of these mobile game time wasters occur at once the worse the game feels. To a point there is a very pleasing puzzle to solve based on priority of engaging enemies. Don't let yourself get boxed in by melee, swap elements for targets, be observant and in position to dodge enemy attacks and block the spells you can, burst down targets of opportunity like spellcasters or archers, etc. Where it starts to suck comes up more and more often: being in Hell, Act 3 and trying to get through two 10-heart stone gargoyles spamming slowing ice bolts on you as an armored caster whose armor refreshes every 4 beats and becomes invulnerable every 5 beats to cast spells AND a spider-plant teleports on top of you like clockwork 3 times in the approach doesn't make an insurmountable challenge, it makes a bloody chore. Oh, and they can jump away at any moment and full heal in statue form before you can physically close to re-aggro them. There feels to be a bit of imbalance in class design and card discovery here. Having disenchant and mass dispel up as the sorcerer while slamming out on-demand 4 heart damage cuts through things much more cleanly than my rogue run.

Sure, there's the deck-building element and "prepare better" comes to mind, burn your resources when you need to, you can even freely swap cards at will unless they're cursed/locked(higher difficulty freeplays) so you always have everything accessible(unless you've yet to find the specific card) but it still becomes a slog. I play in "time moves when you do" mode which makes the omnimancer approach even more feasible yet I still often feel so... tired trying to resolve some of these fights. Whereas most ARPGs have a power curve where you become a screen-clearing deity and BoD also has a pleasing power curve it seems to have finally offered an endgame where the enemies are able to stop you. Maybe that will appeal to the hardcore and I'm steadily cracking freeplay myself but it culminated in the last boss being a dreadful bore. Invincible to cast spells with interrupts blocked, click shield to break armor, untargetable while flying, armor refreshes, surrounded by group-healing stone mobs, rinse and repeat, the only solace being that he doesn't heal himself. There's a disconnect versus the source material where you never had to delay significantly to cut down Mephisto, Diablo or Baal if you were strong enough to go at them in the first place!

I won't say it's bad but it becomes strained at times. Aside from end game pains BoD is pretty enjoyable as a ARPG-lite rehash, a Paper Diablo in aesthetic and numbers you can gradually grind down since you can almost always retreat or camp a health fountain or use your second bar to have all-potion access for free until late post-game difficulties. Claim a win against Legally Distinct El Devil and put the game down until the urge to try the other classes hits. I don't want to hold a grudge against the extra parts for obsessives having niche appeal: that's the point! It's a decent game, even better on sale and you can decide how much you enjoy grinding your face against that wall of stone hearts to master it.

사냥, 파밍의 무한반복의 순환이기 때문입니다.
핵앤슬래쉬+덱빌딩 방식의 게임으로 랜덤한 던전에서 몹들을 잡는데
난이도가 생각보다 높아 사냥이 답답하고 어려울수 있습니다.
몹들의 피통도 꽤나 높아서 수월하게 사냥하기 위해서는 노가다를 좀 해야 합니다.
방송하시는 분들은 채팅창과 연동시켜 시청자의 도움을 받을수도 있습니다.
대신 채팅창이 명령어로 도배가 되는 광경을 목격할수 있습니다. ( 쿨타임으로 조절가능)

세일할 때 사서 10시간 내로 캐주얼하게 즐기기에 좋습니다. 완성도도 좋고 복잡하지 않고 직관적입니다
다만... 게임 특성상 캐릭터가 직선으로만 움직일 수 있는데 개발자가 길막에 꽂힌것 같습니다
몹들은 맵을 자유롭게 움직이고 점프, 은신, 텔포, 소환 등으로 어떻게든 플레이어를 둘러싸려고 하고 (캐릭은 몹 통과 못함)
스턴 걸리면 미니게임을 해야 풀리고 수시로 얼음, 바위 등으로 길막, 몹 죽으면 시폭은 기본, 죽으면 분열, 죽으면 안에서 다른 몹 나오기. 몹을 빨리 잡는게 맘에 안드는지 잡몹도 무적을 기본으로 달고 나오고 중반부터는 피통 돼지라 한참을 때려야 함
다만 나도 몹들도 공격력이 서로 하찮아서 난이도는 낮고 라면 먹으면서 해도 죽을일은 거의 없습니다..
길막 탈출할 수 있는 신발하고 점프 스킬 우선적으로 배치하고 생명력이나 마나 리젠만 해도 한 번에 엔딩까지..
아.. 그리고 꼭 패드로 하세요.

A masterclass in boring.

The developers clearly had the single idea of "On-rails ARPG" and absolutely nothing else. The game is derivative to the very core, aping Diablo 1 in every way it possibly can even down to the tiniest of minute details, like one of the two penultimate bosses (The Warrior) spamming his pain noise similar to Lachdanan/HellKnights. Story, setting, progression, characters. Everything is straight out of Diablo 1, with a brief appearance from dollar-store Hadriel (Diablo 2). While it's clear this was their intention, it's done in a heavy-handed, referential fashion that feels desperate to cram in ANY quote or character just to try and massage a nostalgic players memberberries. This isn't just a minor nitpick, because it is reflective of the game as a whole. It is tepid slop that has nothing unique to say and nothing interesting to show the player. What 'new' things it does offer, are not new in a good way. Diablo summons rubber duckies! Enemies drop poop! Cain and Adria love-hate relationship, hehe!! Bet that won't possibly get old when every single gossip paragraph from BOTH NPC'S happens to mention it!

So the story/setting/narrative is terrible, but what about the gameplay? Well that's boring too.

So, again, being a game so heavily derivative of Diablo 1, the gameplay boils down to holding M1 over various groups of enemies. They -try- to switch this up by giving the player minigames to do while fighting. Monsters will have shields that you need to click on to break, and try to cast spells that you need to interrupt by clicking and holding an icon. You can get stunned, forcing you to 'catch stars' by mousing over them to return to normal. Some enemies have an enrage meter, and if you attack them too quickly they cast a spell and heal most of their health. Enemies are also weak to certain damage types. There are bosses that have many, or all, of these things at once. And do these cutesy little minigames liven up the drab gameplay? No! Hell no! They make it so, SO much worse! By the third act of the FIRST difficulty; which again, aping the Diablo series so don't think you can skip through the boring difficulties; you will be facing rooms full of enemies that all have shields, and spam spells, and heal, and run away, and summon adds, and have invincibility cooldowns and take half damage from your attacks AND, do you think any of that makes the game anymore difficult? No! You can leave and go heal whenever you want to, so your only risk of dying is by failing to shake yourself out of the boredom-imposed coma. It's all just a massive waste of time!

Enemies casting spells are immune to damage until they either finish casting, or you break their channel. Enemies with shields take almost zero damage until their shield is broken. Invincible enemies that keep turning their invincibility on and off. Gargoyles that just cast slow spells, jump away and become invincible until you approach them. Enemies that crawl into the ceiling to do nothing for several seconds before coming back down. Every single enemy summoning more junk adds, that then summon their own junk adds, that then die and have adds pop out of their corpse. And the minibosses are just enemies that do all of those things at the same time, but with even more invincibility phases. It's like the developers actually sat down in the lounge with a notepad and brainstormed all the possible ways to make the game agonisingly boring and slow.

Interesting concept, but I just couldn't get past the linear movement. In a game that requires you to dodge projectiles, you can't actually move in a direction that would dodge them. It's frustrating. It feels bad.

It's a shame because the rest of the game seems interesting and well made.

I'm a huge fan of the art style, story, and themes, but I just couldn't mesh with the gameplay. Needing to constantly click to attack is okay (not great), but then also needing to click to move felt super clunky and awkward considering dodging enemy attacks is such an integral part of the game. Maybe I missed something, but it didn't work for me. It really felt like wasd movement would have fixed so much. The game seems good - the deckbuilding is cool, and the different aspects of going back to town was fun. I was super excited to play this and the sequel, but I just didn't enjoy it when it came to actually fighting and clearing the dungeons.

[b]+ Оригінальні ідеї:[/b] рух героя в підземеллях дозволено лише "рейками" в чотирьох напрямках; після збиття з ніг, гравець має ловити зірочки, які судячи з усього повилітали з орбіт персонажа; агресивних монстрів варто фарширувати снарядами поступово, інакше вони стануть небезпечнішими; деяким монстрам спочатку треба збивати щити окремою кнопкою, іншим — збивати підготовку закляття; деякі монстри стають вразливими лише коли втрачають всіх прикликаних союзників.

[b]+ Паперовий стиль малюнку.[/b] Це не перша гра, де я бачу подібне, але точно вперше в сетингу дарк-фентезі.

[b]+ Позиція розробників стосовно Росії.[/b] Я люблю, коли компанії обирають, щоб їхня гра була не просто грою. Так зробила і Thing Trunk, і тому цей відгук стає теж не просто відгуком на суто гру. Спочатку встановила символічно-пекельну ціну (6666 рублів), а згодом взагалі вимкнула продаж на болотах.

[h3]Не сподобалося[/h3]

[b]- Монстри можуть рухатися вільно, а герой — лише заданими рейками на чотири сторони.[/b] Через це іноді неможливо уникнути ворожих снарядів, та й самих ворогів.

[b]- Колодоскладальний елемент — просто рескін звичного інвентарю.[/b] Картки наділяють героя певними властивостями чи здібностями, та й все. Тобто, вороги картками не користуються, а гравцю навіть не потрібно складати з карток якісь комбінації. Від нього вимагається лише втиснути картки в розблоковані комірки, та обійтися при цьому доступною маною.

[b]- Керування геймпадом.[/b] Дуже незручно обирати ціль під час руху і майже неможливо обрати потрібну ціль, коли вороги оточують персонажа впритул.

[b]- Простий, незначний і нецікавий сюжет.[/b] Це найголовніша причина, чому я кинув гру, як тільки дійшов до пекла (останнього регіону гри). Сесії повторюваного ігрового процесу мені зазвичай заходять, коли вони ведуть мене прикольною художньою пригодою. Тут так не вийшло.

Leider ein schlecht umgesetztes Roguelike. Die Beschwörer sitzen wiederholt in einem Raum in der Ecke und beschwören unglaublich viele Gegner ohne das der Spieler eine Möglichkeit hat etwas daran zu ändern. Das Spielkonzept ist interessant und hat viel Potenzial aber leider kann ich es so nicht empfehlen.

傻逼游戏，唯一建议游玩职业弓箭手，妈的，各种恶心机制怪，什么无敌盾，不打破就只有dot伤害，一次来个三四只，还有攻击快了就会回血，一次甚至能丝血回大半，傻逼一样的移动方式，法师被围了就是秒杀，法力不会自动回复，只能喝药，除非带了法力项链，法力项链如果不升级也是个铁废物，最重要的是我特么的几十个小时的通关存档直接没了
这游戏最恶心的就是它的移动机制，导致你很难去灵活的移动躲避怪物的攻击，向前移动困难，转身更是困难，如果你喜欢用鼠标点击移动，更大的可能就是没有点击在路径上或者点到了怪物身上导致人物无法移动被围殴致死，而很多远程怪物都有在屏幕外攻击你的能力，而你们之中因为没有直达的路径导致你要绕一个大圈到怪物面前，
另外这个游戏没办法秒小怪，可能是因为它的怪物数量没那么多，但是怪物总是扎堆的，同时boss有召唤的能力，导致可能你使用位移技能的时候因为没法及时的转身导致直接冲进了怪物的包围圈并且触发一个甚至两个boss的仇恨，而周围的怪物身上因为有盾的原因你无法造成一点伤害，前期破盾的唯一方法就是用鼠标点击怪物身上的盾牌图标，点击数次才能点破，而你身边可能有三四只这样的怪物，并且有的怪物的盾是能回复的，就算你破盾后使用大范围技能杀死了身边围殴你的怪物，你以为完了么？没有！因为这些怪物死后会有极高概率生成新的怪物寒冰鬼魂，因为它的血量属于寒冰属性，普通攻击只能打掉半格血，也就是说如果不使用火焰攻击新的怪物血量对你来说可能翻了一倍，并且新怪物普通攻击自带减速，死亡之后会进行自爆造成大范围减速，你以为位移能救你么？他们之中还有能冲锋的小鬼魂，唯一的办法就是用火焰属性攻击进行快速灭杀，但是这个过程是及其折磨的，因为低级火焰攻击只有概率一次打掉一格血！你还要顶着减速或者冰冻这种异常状态，在这个游戏里前期大部分的时间都是这么度过的
这狗屎游戏百分十八十的游戏时间都有减速和中毒的buff，在一条路上居然能出现召唤，数量极多无敌盾牌，挨打回血的怪物，都不知道制作组脑子里是不是浆糊

Que jogo bom!!!

Fazia um tempo que um jogo não me prendia tanto assim. Amei os personagens, a jogabilidade é bem simples mas prende bastante o jogador, apesar dos personagens e os cenários serem de papel, a arte do jogo é bem bonita, bem feita. Os efeitos sonoros também são muito bons, principalmente no final do jogo que eu fiquei sorrindo que nem boba, parecia que eu tava assistindo alguma animação do Tim Burton.
O que eu mais gostei foi a apresentação dos bosses, que sensacional!!! super empolga o jogador a querer enfrenta-los. A dublagem dos personagens também deixa tudo perfeito, a forma como a história é contada, é bem simples mas bem feito.
Super recomendo, além de tudo isso que eu falei, quando você derrota o boss final, libera o modo livre, que da pra você continuar enfrentando as criaturas, então da pra ficar horas se divertindo, sem falar na quantidade de conquistas que você pode obter rsrs.
