Увы, у игры серьёзная "зеркальная" проблема:
Без модов типа BTA3062 или RogueTech - не вывозит геймплей. Он в базовой игре сильно ограничен и уныл, лора мало.
А с модами - не вывозит уже сам игровой движок Unity. Тупит, лагает, фризит даже на серьёзных системах, и ничего не помогает
Резюме - игре очень желателен ремастер с поддержкой модов и непременно на оптимизированном движке

Difficulties are nonesense, since at 1,5 you have to beat a full lance of high medium mechs simultanisouly to LRM Carrier and triple PPC Carrier of course time based, which is absolut not doable.
Maybe you can sneak around of this, but its not near anything you should play, its Candy Crush in the Mech Universe.
4 full equiped medium mechs shot a 1 light mech all shots hit from AC to Large Lasers to LRM and SRM and ... you´re right it still stands it grounds ... what a nonesense.
Defend a convoy ... it say it will stay near you so you have to move ... in reallity it just drives oh there are enemy HERE I AM - open field please kill me!
A new Highlite - a light Jenner, kills a medium Hawk with one attack ... and no, it had no scratch before and no, not with a head shot ... dumb.
Nonesense close fight and jump kick attacks ...
Stupid missions, like infektion your own Battlemech with a virus...
I hate Turn-Based Tactics.

A great game for Turn Based fans in general and Battletech fans in particular, I've played the campaign 2 times, one regular and one on Iron Man mode, loosing your mechs/pilots and not getting to load that saved game is sure the better way to play this, for immersion purposes
Many years and thousands of hours later this is still my top played game by a long shot.
The vanilla game is fun, the campaign has a decent story and good narrative that carries beyond the game (the Arano Sourcebook) if you want, the DLC makes it better, and I wish there was more DLC or a sequel to fill in the bits that would take it from a solid 8/10 to an amazing 10/10. Maybe for the 10th Anniversary?
That said, there are several Mods that fill in a lot of the 'wish they'd had time/budget for it' gaps. I'm a huge fan of the BattleTech Extended - Commander's Edition for all the added features, but I'd cherry pick from Hyades Rim (starts the narrative three years earlier) and RogueTech (as close to tabletop as anyone has gotten) if I could. BTA is popular with the more Clan oriented folks.
So yes, if you want a 'big stompy robot game with decent story and lots of depth', then it's hard to go wrong with BattleTech.
Just get some arm mod, max out piloting stats and melee everyone to death. Cheers.

обновлений нет, длс посредственные и ничего не добавляют в игру, мастерской в стиме нет - моды ставить можно только через танцы с бубном, в чём трабл мастерской - неизвестно.
по геймплею имеем 1 копьё (4 меха) в бою, а сражаться будем против заведомо сильных 2-3 копья (если, разумеется, вы хотите не уходить в минус по обслуживанию и содержать несколько пилотов и разных мехов). и выходит так, что игра даёт на выбор несколько классов мехов, но играть мы будем сугубо тяжелыми, ибо реализовывать легких (средние ещё терпимо) мехов нет смысла, ибо в 99% необходимо делать дамажные конструкции, чтобы хотя бы чуть-чуть сравнять счёты, а подсветка для "арты" попросту бесполезна, ибо стоит 1 меху твоему засветиться - на тебя побежит вся орда, а так как ближе всего к фронту у нас лёгкий мех (ну он же разведывательный), то его тут же накроют ракетами и в общем тяжело ему будет. да, может скакать и пытаться его как-то реализовать, но он занимает дорогой слот для высадки, тобишь теряем потенциального дамагера, который с броней и с оружием вместе с другим танком спокойно бы заагрил тех же врагов, только бы выжил и ещё в ответ давал урон.
безусловно, можно колупаться в лёгких миссиях, но азарта в этом никакого нет. что помешало разработчику дать возможность выкидывать больше мехов, ограничивая их той же массой - неизвестно, ибо 1 штурмовой мех в одиночку расправится с 4 пузатыми дрысликами, а при поддержке и вовсе аннигилирует практически всё на свете. сделав простое математическое ограничение в массе 300т (с дальнейшим апгрейдом до 500-800) и дать игроку реализовать хотя бы 2 копья, даже не 3, игра бы ещё нормально затягивала, ибо стоял бы выбор - задушить тяжелыми, дорогими и медленными мехами или быстро прорвать на лёгких, дать наводку на артиллеристов и стянуть к бою средних для добивания выживших, или etc...
в общем итоговая оценка: 1 рандомный крит от алкаша на консервной банке в кабину главного героя в конце миссии из 5, денег своих не стоит, были бы хотя бы обновления какие-то, а не заброшенный проект с ОГРОМНЫМ потенциалом
upd: сюжетная компания вообще смешная и прям отдаёт духом радужных фемок, вася с 5 класса и то лучше диалоги сделает, а людям, которые вообще не шарят в этой вселенной, придется гуглить доп. инфу, чтобы вообще разобраться, что там происходит
Still a delight after several runs through the campaign and career modes. I would love another campaign to play through.
I like tactical games and this one has mechs in it, making it even better.
I really wanted to like Battle Tech. I loved the setting of noble houses (like Dune), love giant mech fights, and love me some turn based combat....
What I don't love is how bad the game is...
It suffers heinously from the 'Xcom effect' as the 'random rolls' to determine hit/damage, heavily favor the AI, where you may have an 80% chance to hit and still miss. Repeatedly.
Honestly this game reminds me of all the bad things about XCOM; mainly the fact that each little damage point you take will then require so much money to repair, and time to repair it, like an XCOM soldier getting wounded and being out of commission.
The difficulty 'curve' if there is one, is completely random, at times being entirely easy, while other times it's unnecessarily hard. It feels like at every opportunity the game is trying to make you lose. No matter how you fight, unless you bring in the single most cheesy of builds, you will most likely end up losing something. A broken mech, a 'lucky' shot that put your pilot in the hospital, or killed them outright, and all the more days for repair and healing. It's more like a time management game than an actual mech combat game, where you have to micromanage each decision, mech and pilot otherwise you end up snowballing into not being able to do anything for a month of in game time.
If you like strategy, war gaming, and mechs, this game will be your jam. Highly recommend.
Really good turn based/management game. I just played MENACE recently and wanted to play a more complete game. Everything in this game holds up well. You set up a squad of mechs with a variety of weapons and roles then fight other mechs in either story or contract missions. The difficulty curve is a bit harsh after the tutorial but it makes it that much more satisfying when you create a good lance for the midgame and learn the combat mechanics
The story and immersion are really well done and the turn based combat never gets tedious like in other games where there are too many characters on the board
Even though the game is complete and not receiving any more updates I hear the modding community is very active if you want more indepth combat and replayability
The only thing that holds the game back are somewhat simple destruction and combat animations but it makes up for it since the fighting is intense and you are glad to remove enemy units off the board

There is a learning curve here .. and you will absolutely HAVE to follow certain "paths" to improve your Pilots, Ship, and Mechs .. no choice .. can't progress without "the grind" .. it's just the way it is .. you can be unique and like-no-other, just like everyone else.
.. and watch a ton of videos that break down the mechanics of the game. Because if you don't you will absolutely waste a ton of hours (days or weeks level of hours) restarting/starting over .. and over .. and over, before you come to the realization, that's is literally the way the game was made to be played .. you fail .. fail again .. and again, before you "find the ways (plural) to the formula of success ..

I love the idea of this game, it starts off great .. moves to challenging .. and then drops off a cliff into sheer idiocy by nerfing you to move on player and shoot, they move everything they have and shoot every thing they have, and every once in a while you get to move and shoot with two troops .. etc .. etc .. etc .. and it's quite honestly a (bad word) show. I can see why soooooooo many players use mods to just make the game enjoyable and not a never-ending fiasco of being on the edge of bankruptcy because after every mission you spend everything you earned on repairs, new crew (which are absolute muppets who can't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with all the doors closed .. and just like the skeletons in Minecraft, the AI-enemy RARELY misses a shot.
Man I loved the table-top BattleTech .. but this?? .. it's a hot mess of a dumpster fire on steroids with terminal brain cancer and an incurable STD. So No, I do not recommend this game (at least until I find the mods that allow you to move every turn like the enemy does .. absolute crap.

I like turn based strategy games, among which Battletech is imo the only one which matches up to XCOM2. Acutally it is not really comparable since the game mechanics are different. The love of details and challenge for carefully planeed action is really comparable. I run this game on linux with steam. It runs very fast and with no problems at all.

Игра отличная. Есть свои минусы в управлении, но это мелочи. Очень рекомендую тем, кто еще не знаком с миром Battletech. Так же не сразу заметны, но прекрасно проработаны множество механик боя и развития. Все элементы для чего то нужны, где то оказываются полезны, нет бессмысленных. Любителям ковыряться в своих мехах, разрабатывать тактики и радостно вскидывать руки, когда вражий мех взлетает на воздух крайне рекомендую
Great turn based mech combat. Time to think. Quite hard at times. Needs lots more mechs.
Good, solid, fun! Some features are confusing, like pathfinding mistakes, and terrain modifiers, but, overall, it should keep you well entertained. And it ain't easy, neither. This will keep you trying to find the right combos, etc. well into the wee hours.

Lots of XCom vibes. If you like that sort of game, then you will be right at home. Also, the game is mostly keyboard driven and it feels pretty natural once you get the hang of how it works. The tutorial mission in the campaign is pretty good at getting you situated. The strategy elements can get pretty deep too, but the ramp of difficulty in the campaign feels pretty good.

Meh! Just not immersive enough for me. The graphics don't convey very well the kinetic immensity of the mechs. I'd prefer to play another run of XCom 2. Thankfully that's what Steam refunds are for. :-)
I bought this game in 2018 and it was unplayable (on an intel mac).
Sat on it for 8 years, and tried it for the first time, and realised its awesome. This game scratches XCOM2 itches, as well a total war series itches (thru modding). You can mod this game like crazy, even on a mac, and the mod material out there is immense. I love modding games even more than playing, and I imagine ill be modding it for years to come.
I started playing it in 2026 lol. Shame its not mod-able on steam workshop... A SUPER SHAME
i give it 4 out of 5 starts for turn based tactics,
5 out of 5 for customization (building mechs and squads)
and 10 out of 10 for moddding. (this games modding ease, and community - rivals Rome Totalwar)
its extremely good. and i dont even have a single DLC yet!
You know... it was going so well. Honestly the game plays pretty good, few problems here or there.... but then the writing, the thing that separates a great gaming experience from a frustrating night yelling at a screen because your character is making choices you can't influence and they're absolutely idiotic, comes into play.
***Spoilers beyond, you were warned.***
The first several missions were good, but then we go onto an ice planet with a cache of technology and im thinking "great! finally some good stuff, surely ill get SOMETHING from it, even the cast-offs from lady Arano."....NOPE you aint hardly gettin squat. she will, but you wont. no...instead, after getting to the base, and getting IN the base your idiot commander decides to bring EVERYONE BACK TO THE SHIP despite that we have been warned of an approaching dropship. Dropship ALWAYS means military equipment is a possibility. I've asked SEVERAL people with no military tactics skill whatsoever, they all said the same thing that my friends WITH tactical skill did. It was all along the lines of, "if a potential enemy or unknown is KNOWN to be coming, you do not take your weaponry off-field. that would be unbelievably idiotic" and...somehow a skiilled and combat trained mercenary commander decides to do that when everyone is still pretty fresh and has ammo? no. bad writing. Of course out of the whole thing the princess keeps most of the equipment and "gifts" you one of the remainder. The gameplay is good, but they ruin it with the writing. I'm ONLY putting yes because once the storyline is over I can get to community modded missions where the writers have more than 2 braincells to rub together. Gets even worse as the storyline goes on, the pampered princess runs around in a nearly legendary battlemech and makes it barely worth more than a jenner with her crappy piloting skills. Doesn't put someone who fights well in it, no....she demands to be ON the battlefield being a liability and using a weapon that would be better in the hands of a skilled warrior. Its like a kid playing pretend with his dads sword while bandits invade the house... anyone sane would put it in the hands of the best fighter they could find in their forces. You don't get that weapon until AFTER shes done parading around playing warrior princess... which just makes every fight harder than it needs to be, though not impossible with skill... the fact that theres no "you just aren't good enough to take the field with us, leave this to the fighters you are paying to fight for you and win and the job will go much smoother with less of us dead" dialogue option just makes it worse. I mean...they could buff her significantly i guess, that'd work too, but she still makes horrible decisions.
Edit2: the rest of this review was actually not fair to the developer. The dlc part I was upset about was actually a part of the mods that requires the DLC to run, not part of the initial dlc. I'll be restoring this to yes, recommend, because there is a lot of GOOD mod content out there, but honestly it was so close to the personalities I had seen from the ship's crew through the main storyline that it fit right in and i thought it WAS one of the main DLC Flashpoints. They're still too cowardly to be a successful mercenary company, that hasn't changed, but I see my error and apologize for it.
Honestly, the game needs some work as far as player feel and risk/reward goes too. You don't ever want your players to feel cheated, and a LOT of the missions, both main story and dlc and mod stuffs (though i don't blame the dev for that part obviously), actually cheat you of your rightful salvage at the end of many missions. They will have completely different items available for salvaging than what the mechs had on them, sometimes even different variants of the mechs. When you spent an extra 10 minutes fighting because you wanted to be extra careful not to destroy those weapons that clearly identify as "SLDF" when you scan your enemy, or that mech that is clearly a Star League variant with useful lostech, its extremely demoralizing to get to the salvage screen and see a bunch of non-related items. Like.... why bother killing carefully at all if you aren't going to give the items that were on the battlefield? I would say that the solution is just to steamroller through them without a care to preserve items, but then for some reason it doesn't even spawn those items that it would have. It cheats you, and its noticeable, and that just feels terrible. I understand for game balance not wanting to give the player too much powerful weaponry at once, but the answer then is to NOT give the AI those weapons, just give them a different advantage that the player CANT get stronger from...there are literally hundreds of possible variables that could be tweaked to give the AI an advantage in any given scenario without resorting to giving them more powerful weapons that the player is AWARE they have equipped.
I'm not saying its a bad game, it isn't, there's a lot of love poured into this game from a lot of people, but there are also a lot of things that it REALLY needs for it to become what it COULD be, and that waste of potential is saddening. I'm hoping when I move on to trying the next full conversion mod that it fixes a lot of the problems, in which case I'll recommend it here, but as it stands I don't recommend BEX tactics to be the choice as it has most of the same issues and actually adds MORE issues trying to "balance" things. The next one I try will be Btech Advanced.
Got another gripe to add, and this one is CERTAINLY on the dev. Unwelcome guests, and Steiner Alliance. These two flashpoints have the exact same mission, played from the exact same perspective, with the sides switched on exactly the same map layout and buildings and i believe same units and they even use the same EVENT TRIGGERS with only the text changed to reflect the difference of "light mechs" to "assault mechs" and the enemy radio comment is still "focus them down" lol. Steiner alliance has you attacking a marik base and marking for a space cannon, unwelcome guests has you marking a steiner base for marik and marking for a large artillery piece... one requires very small mechs, one requires very large mechs... but other than that...same mission, same map, nearly the same enemies, lazy game design. I wouldn't be surprised if they reused multiple other flashpoints too... based on this the dlc actually has less than the 18 total missions that BOTH DLC are supposed to add...

運が良ければ無傷、運が悪ければ即死、のTRPG的なゲームだ。
FEのトラキア776をハードモードにして、キャラクターの殆どがロストするぐらいが適正と思う人にお勧めする。
キャンペーンの最初のミッションで2回ぐらい死んだ上に、やり直そうとすると最初からで、会話がクソ長いし、全体的なテンポが悪いんで超クッソ時間がかかる。
こっちは4人までなのに、敵は12人とか普通に出てくる上に、
1ターンに1体倒せることすら稀だ。反撃も範囲攻撃もないんで、やべぇほどゲームが進まない。
当たり所が良ければ車両とかは一発で倒せるが、悪ければいつまでたっても倒せない。
この攻撃でこいつを倒して…みたいな戦略は出来そうにない。
「こういう場所では熱放射効率が落ちるので注意しましょう」と言われるが、
装備変更に1か月ぐらい余裕でかかるんで、頻繁な装備変更は出来ない。
ミッションに合わせて装備を変更するのは無理がある。
馴染んだシステムなら「それでも成長すれば…」と思いたいところだが、
キャラは育ってもそこまで強くならず、すげえスキルも覚えない。
総じて、これは「ボードゲームのゲーム化」であって、
フロントミッションやファイアーエンブレムみたいな、SRPGではないのだ。
ミッションごとに1人が死亡するぐらいが適切！と思ってるハードゲーマーにはお勧めする。

Simple to get into. Fun skill ceiling to reach. Got the game because I play the tabletop game and I enjoy all the similarities.
Un jeu exigent qui demande de la pratique et sanctionne durement. Il est le digne portage du jeu de figurine sur plateau donc comme son inspiration ce n'est pas un jeu pour tout le monde mais un jeu qui satisfera au mieux son public.
It's pretty great on its own. I would highly recommend the BTA 3062 mod.

Jeu interessant avec de bonnes bases. Néanmoins apres quelques heures de jeux, le gameplay se revèle creux. Le monde dans lequel on évolue est sans le moindre interet.
Dommage car il manquait quelques ajustement pour en faire un bon jeu du genre (BattleBrothers et XCOM)
it's a pretty good game, but could use a more extensive skill system for pilots as well as a better tactical AI
Игра в момент релиза нравилась, но ни разу не прошел сюжет даже, раз 5 начинал и забрасывал. Вот решил еще одну попытку в 2026 сделать и вспомнил. Баланс в случайных заказах днище полное. Выводить в бой можно одно копье, в то время как у противника их два минимум и на четверку твоих стартовых мехов могут выставить намного более серьезные машины, так еще и лютый рандом, бот может выдать подряд три хедшота по меху даже если на нем набраны максимальное число уклонений. Механики игры и карты явно сделаны под бои копье на копье, но вот в сгенерированых миссиях когда одним копьем надо размотать 2-3 копья баланс ломается. Вся проблема в том что стоит засветиться на сенсорах одному меху и боты по всей карте сразу узнают где игрок и несуться к нему. Каких либо механик позволяющих этого избежать нет, ни разведки со стэлсом, ни спрятать мехи в рельефе и за зданиями нельзя, если бот условно видит условно одно плечо из за холма то он лупит сквозь текстуру холма, боты даже спокойно сквозь друг друга стреляют, поэтому нивелировать численный перевес засадами и заманиванием в узкие места не получится, только размен броней лоб в лоб, и тут численый перевес и рандом всегда на стороне бота, из-за чего вся игра скатывается в душнину. При этом в длц добавили миссии где дают союзное копье или на карте идет бой между двумя фракциями и игрок выступает третьей стороной, и вот в этих заданиях намного веселее, если только союзник которого надо защищать не пойдет на своих легких и средних мехах сливаться об копье тяжей и штурмов.

A great game buried beneath its own horrible technical state.
The core gameplay is very fun. The tabletop battletech concepts translate amazingly well into a xcom-style game. Mr. Weisman is the GOAT and clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to turn-based combat design.
However, all this is made completely irrelevant because the end product is one of the ugliest and worst performing videogames ever made. It looks like a jagged aliased mess, the tactical map is completely unreadable, 'mechs are impossible to visually distinguish without zooming in or hovering a mouse over them because at the distance they just look like fuzzy vomit of jagged polygons. And to add insult to injury, in a shameful attempt to hide the sickening uglyness of their brainchild, the HBS artists decided to violently smear a dozen different post effects on the player's screen. The game has like scanlines, dithering and film grain going on all at once, making it look like an art student's first attempt at retouching a picture in photoshop.
But listen, I can close my eyes on the graphics only a mother could love as long as it runs good. But it DOESN'T. I run it on a very beefy PC, and the way it utilizes GPU and drops frames would make you thing this game is an advanced real-time voxel physical simulator that calculates the heat dissipation of every metal panel in your mech's body. BUT THIS IS A TURN BASED GAME THAT ROLLS A COUPLE 6 SIDED DICE EACH TURN. IT HAS LIKE 15 UNITS ON THE SCREEN MAX. We used to make these back in the 80s and they ran just fine on what today would be considered a graphing calculator, what the hell happened?
I wish I could force myself to see past the horrible technical state and just enjoy the very entertaining gameplay beneath. I even wasted a few hours trying to make it work for me by disabling all the visual noise with mods and applying the unity performance fixes, but then I load into an urban warfare mission and it wrecks my ♥♥♥♥ again. Send all unity devs to the reeducation camps and make ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ learn C.
I wasted so much time I could've spent beating my family... At other games!
If you like mechs and turn based games, you'll like this one for sure.
Good main story, interesting tactical combat, engaging mechs and mechanics. Early game is a little rough because several mechanics/UI interactions are unintuitive + unexplained, and the margin for error is small (or zero, in the case of picking abilities for mechwarriors, when you can't retrain and don't understand what they do yet), but once you figure out the systems it's great. Just push through, it's worth it.
A few tips I wish I had:
1. It takes three salvaged mechs to create a functioning mech
2. Morale is how you generate resolve for precision shots, and precision shot is great, use it
3. Marauders are unreasonably strong, I won't spoil the mechanics of why, but once you figure them out, they may just become your favorite mechs in the game, so keep any 3R or 2R variants
It's ♥♥♥♥. There is simply no "game" here. No tactics, no puzzle, no finesse, only save scumming vs incredibly tedious horde spam.
I played all of HBS's Shadowruns and liked them. I played other Mechwarrior games and liked them. Where Shadowrun let you roleplay, explore, talk to people, this game focuses on the tactical board game ... when there are no tactics. It's ironic that all of the Shadowruns are better "tactical board games", more varied maps, better designed missions, different builds and abilities, ways to play. This is "Bring a bigger mech, shoot at opponent until RNG decides one of you is dead. Reload if that was you"
Now that is powerfully boring by itself, but if you like Battletech and you just want to spend a 100 hours grind shooting the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechs again and again, you might think it would at least do that well. But the inconsistent level design makes missions of the same difficulty rating either tedious or completely impossible. So all you can do in case it's one of THOSE missions is reload and pick a different one. But even when you do a "easy/boring" mission, there's the random 1% chance for your pilot to get shot in the face, and that's another reload.
"It's one for the mods" is what a friend said. Yeah no. I don't rate games based on replacing them with a better game, I evaluate them as-is. Wish I could get my money back. This is pure crap. HBS, do better.

COOL GAME
The base game is a lot of fun, and does reasonably well at capturing the feel of the well-established Battletech world as it exists in the original tabletop games and novels. It's a shame the developer didn't get a chance to make a sequel and further expand on what they did here. However, where Battletech really shines is in the incredibly rich and active modding community. Where the base game falls short of capturing the full complexity and depth of lore of the original tabletop games, modders have you covered.
Just hit 400 hours on this game .... It's absolutely satisfying whether playing one mission or spending hours on end hoping for headshots. Love this game.

humanity spans the galaxy and the best getaway ship they could muster is an enormous turd of a "ship" that inches it's way to orbit like a flying barn waiting to be used as target practise?
writing so far seems to be done by an 18yo, seriously hope it gets better cause i'm about to pass my 2 hours playtime

A nice iteration of the original boardgame. More to the point, currently AU$15 on sale. I couldn't resist this bargain.
In the 9 hours I've played this, I've had 3 major PC crashes whilst playing. A minor annoyance but not enough for a refund (as yet).
If all goes well enough, I'll look at some of the major mods for this game.
A few years ago, I went into a store and saw people were playing battletech on the tabletop. Didn't realize it was making a comeback. Looked online and found this game and picked it up so I could get more familiar with the universe as I haven't looked at battletech in decades.
The game is pretty fun if you like tactical turn based games. I do enjoy building up the mercenary company and the combat is great. I just wish they would make a sequel to the game involves running multiple squads. Overall though, great game.
Easily the best narrative gaming experience to come from this franchise. Battletech games always struggle in one of two ways:
1. Mercenaries games where there's barely a story at all and you just shoot stuff in a flat simulation.
2. Clans games where you're doing a linear set of missions for the sake of a story you have little influence on and will likely find impossible to care about unless you're a hardcore lore hound.
This game follows the Mercenaries style, but succeeds on the narrative level because it ties your custom protagonist to another character whos motivations drive main story. Kamea is the protagonist, but YOU are the one to push the story forward because you're good at the main gameplay loop (Building a mercenary company and blowing stuff up). This setup allows you the freedom to roleplay, something that's been sorely missing in every other game using this license. You get some choices in dialogue that don't really change much, but there are also random events that can happen when you're moving forward in the timeline, and your decisions on those actually do have consequences, which helps bring the game to life. Many of these choices are affected by the backstory options you choose for your character when you start, which also influences their skillset. All of this creates investment in the organic story of the person you want to be, instead of being forced into the adventures of Commander Generic McDude (Mechwarrior devs take note).
Suppose I should mention the actual gameplay, it's trying to recreate the tabletop game with modified rules. Combat is nice and crunchy, with customisable difficulty levels, and an option that should be standard in all tactical turn-based games: the option to fast forward the animations once you're sick of seeing them and just want to get things moving. You'll be doing missions for various factions, using the money you earn to buy and repair mechs, upgrade your ship, hire pilots, then do it all again. It's engaging and absorbing, especially if you're already a fan of the franchise. Plus, there are tons of mods to play with if you want more depth and customization.
Also, the soundtrack did not need to go this hard, but does. Great game.

I wanted to like this game. I really gave it a chance, but it sucks. Flat out sucks. The combat is slow and has unnecessary delays after every single move. If there was one word that I would use to describe this game it would be SLOW. The next frustrating. Maybe dull after that.
