Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an American made JPRG and dungeon-crawler, based on the best-selling Battle Chasers comic series by Joe Maduriera and inspired by JPRG greats such as Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, and Phantasy Star. It was developed by Airship Syndicate, funded through Kickstarter and published by THQ Nordic. The game features beautiful environments; a gorgeously animated strategic turn-based combat system; and hand-crafted dungeon rooms which are randomly arranged for a different experience each time. Players will battle enemies, find secrets, solve puzzles and explore the world.

Faccio questa recensione dopo averci giocato un paio d'ore. Ho giocato a tutto nella mia vita ma oggi come oggi un gdr "moderno" con questa lentezza nei movimenti, nei combattimenti etc rende tutto veramente molto molto più frustrante di quanto dovrebbe essere. Nessuna modalità automatica, nessun aumento di velocità delle animazioni. In teoria non sarebbe neanche un problema ma l'exp è molto lenta e dai commenti di chi ci ha giocato di più ho letto anche che bisogna pure grindare. Non esiste che mi metta a fare grind senza battaglie veloci o automatiche, non nel 2026. E' troppo datato come gioco, statene alla larga.

[b] História e Narrativa [/b]
Padrãozinha de herois salvando o mundo, nada contra, mas não a muito espaço para se apegar aos personagens ou trabalhar suas personalidades, mesmo com as conversas que rolam na taverna entre eles, que por sinal acho que perderam a oportunidade das combinações de grupos afetarem em alguns momentos da história.

[b] Gameplay [/b]
Facil de entender em relação ao combate e exploração, mas falha na avalanche de opções de upgrades, poções, itens e etc. As lutas usam bem dos buffs e debuffs ao longo de todo jogo, nunca deixando algo fora de uso. As batalhas dificilmente voce so vai ficar apertando um botão e não tomando decisões certas, seja em batalhas de mapas novos ou em boss. A coleta de itens em alguns mapas é meio dificil de enxergar, o que te acaba as vezes obrigando a refazer mapas inteiros so pra achar um unico item faltante.

[b] Desafio e Progressão [/b]
Os combates são extremamentes desbalanceados em algumas partes do jogo, em certas situações encontros de mapa são mil vezes mais dificieis do que alguns boss. E ponto negativo para o cap de nivel máximo, que torna meio chato a busca por itens ou extras no final do jogo. O sistema de "skill tree" cria uma variedade legal em estratégias com um mesmo personagem, e bem maleável em alguns combates, mas acaba te forçando a escolher 3 personagens fixos.

[b] Gráficos e Direção de Arte [/b]
Arte sensacional, sem criticas negativas. Tem uma vibe meio warcraft, mas nada que não pareça original. Algumas cenas de tela de carregamentos são tão bem trabalhadas que acredito que seria legal ter elas disponiveis no menu para apreciação. Só acho que seria legal também, as skins extras de personagens, alterarem também efeitos de skill e ultimates.

[b] Trilha Sonora e Áudio [/b]
Músicas "ok". Nada que não seja chato ao ponto de mutar, e nem muito boa ao ponto de grudar na cabeça. Talvez por estar acostumado a músicas de grandes obras de rpg, eu tenha comparado com um nível muito superior..., mas seria legal pelo menos os personagens e alguns boss, terem músicas mais bem trabalhadas.

[b] Bugs [/b]
Tradução estava otima, da pra contar nos dedos as vezes que não tinha algo traduzido, e mesmo assim era algo bobo. No meio do jogo teve alguns bugs que estavam me impedindo de encerrar alguns combates, mas tão do nada aparecerem, esse bug também se foi. Talvez o unico problema meio irritante, é os personagens serem afetados por danos de veneno/sangramento, após a morte do último inimigo, se o turno seguinte era o dele.

[b] Conclusão [/b]
Um jogo divertido e perfeito para quem tem problemas em seguir dialogos em RPG, já que o jogo todo hora indica o seu próximo caminho a seguir na história. Batalhas meio complicadas de lidar se você é aquele jogador de rpg mais distraído..., e exploração de mapa bem versátil na questão de dificuldade, que você pode escolher antes do inicio de cada dungeon.
Uma nota final de 7/10.

Задел на сиквел в конце сюжета, а с момента релиза прошло 9 лет? Ну это грязь я считаю.

А так игра хорошая, геймплей приятный. Подойдет любителям пошаговой боёвки. Рекомендую играть на скорости х2 при помощи сторонних утилит, потому что боёв и беготни в игре крайне много и на стандартной скорости вы оч быстро утомитесь.

Game was in my backlog since 2020. Forgot it was in my library. Tried it on a whim on Friday, 14 hours played by Sunday. Guess I'm hooked.

Nice turn based RPG with JRPG mechanics and original art based on an Image comic book I haven't read, but heard good things about. Probably will try to find an anthology of the comic book, because the story and the characters in the game are interesting.

Not a perfect game and it does not reinvent anything, but good enough to give it an 8/10 rating as of 14hrs of gameplay. Will update review once I finish the game. Just hope it won't take 6 years to have the time to finish it though!

From the outset, the art direction stands out. The game is colorful, vibrant, and meticulously stylized. Character portraits are expressive and detailed, even for minor NPCs, and enemy designs are consistently creative and memorable. From twisted plant monstrosities to mechanical constructs and late-game horrors, the presentation is a constant strength. It is genuinely a feast for the eyes.

Mechanically, the cast is well differentiated. Each character has a clear combat identity with meaningful synergy potential. Abilities feel purposeful, and builds can be adjusted depending on party composition and encounter demands. Each character unlocks three escalating tiers of a powerful special attack, which gives late-game combat satisfying impact.

Outside of combat, dungeon skills allow characters to interact with the environment — breaking walls, burning barriers, manipulating mechanisms — making exploration feel integrated rather than cosmetic.

Combat is more demanding than it initially appears. Regular enemies remain dangerous throughout the game, often surviving multiple rounds and punishing careless sequencing. Encounters reward thoughtful play, resource management, and synergy rather than brute-force clearing.

There are eight primary dungeons, each playable on Normal, Heroic, and Legendary difficulty. Legendary offers the best rewards and loot if you can manage the challenge, making difficulty selection mechanically meaningful. Procedural dungeon variation shifts enemy groupings and event rooms between runs, keeping repetition from feeling stale.

Optional systems add depth beyond the main storyline. Arena battles provide escalating structured challenges. Monster Hunts encourage exploration and preparation. O inicio desse jogo é surreal de bom, eu fiquei muito instigado na historia, nas cut-scenes e no combate do jogo que é bem decente, dito isso conforme o tempo foi passando fui me incomodando bastante com algumas coisinhas, a começar pela lentidão absurda de liberar os personagens, cara vou te falar viu, a decisão de só podermos colocar 3 herois no nosso time pra poder lutar sendo que só desbloqueamos o último herói bem dizer no final da campanha foi uma decisão bem ruim, pq meio que assim, eu joguei a campanha inteira montando combos e sinergias com os herois que eu tinha disponível e do nada virem novos qual o incentivo eu vou ter pra por eles no meu time? eu não via nenhum, por isso já fui de cabeça com os 3 que eu tava afim e terminei com eles sem explorar muita coisa, talvez num futuro distante volte e teste os outros, pra quem quiser saber meu time ficou (Gully, Knolan, Monika) , o jogo tbm conta com alguns bugzinhos bem chatos aqui ou ali, eu passei por um soft lock terminando uma batalha, e as vezes nenhum objeto ficava Interagível, onde só se resolvia reabrindo o jogo, enfim, apesar disso tudo ainda assim foi maneiro explorar esse mundo, as áreas de exploração eram bacanas e o estilo gráfico me chamou bastante a ateção, num futuro bem distante eu faço o new game +

A good game. But the final boss is enough of a slog that I don't feel the need to finish it. For a game that I was crusing through at realitively good speed the final boss being an absolute wall with a runback that requires me to skip through a conversation and skip a cut-scene to re-attempt. I suffered through enough bad runbacks with Silksong and don't feel the need to subject myself to that. Especially when the final boss was enough of a brick wall to my maxed out party; and I didn't bother leveling up the other people and I'm not going back to grind up the other characters. I'd accept this from a super boss, but not the required final boss

If you can get it with a substantial discount (I got it with 75% off) it's absolutely worth every penny. For the full price it's a bit short (unless you're into NG+ without additional content) - it took me only 40 hours to complete the game, including all hunts, finishing the arena, crafting all ultimate weapons and completing all dungeons on legendary difficulty. Didn't use a guide (just occasionally googled where to find certain things), didn't rush anything.

This game is fun and I love the vibe, but if you're annoyed by the inability to speed up fights, it might not be for you.

It's also... pretty lacking in build options. There are a bunch of ways you could set up your team, but most of them will be bad. And if you don't bring the worst characters, you can't do things like break down walls to get hidden loot.

Also those characters start out fun, so it's disappointing when you start to run into problems.

I found out about this game 4 years after i played the ruined king game
I can tell that this game has A LOT of shared assets
one might say the ruined king is the 1.0
and this was the beta test
i wish they had the polished this game cause it was their own creation
at this point i believe that riot forge forced them to actually bug fix and properly ship a title

Acabei de zerar, achei um jogo ok nota 7.
Personagens carismaticos, historia cliche, batalhas de turnos com habilidades maneiras, ate da pra pescar.
o que nao gostei, achei o jogo desbalanceado na questao de XP, no final do game fui entender que so é possivel chegar no lvl 33, achei ruim.
Decorrente disso, os monstros estao sempre com forca igual ou superior a você,entao o dano deles é bem alto, isso dificulta. E se vc fizer grind demora pra upar os niveis.
OU seja o jogo tem nivel de dificuldade consideravel.
Algumas coisas tambem ficaram obscura como craft de itens e poçoes e etc, nao tem tutorial que explique isso direito, entao praticamente nao fiz.
O final do jogo achei meio merda, deixa em aberto um segundo vilao e você fica na duvida se vai pro novo jogo +, mas o jogo so tem um final mesmo.

This is an American take on a JRPG and is inspired by a late 90s comic book.

Gameplay features:
1) It uses a randomised tile set for each dungeon, so each trip to the boss is different. However, some tile sets are more common than others so you'll soon remember where the treasure chests are. The world map doesn't change it's layout.
2) You have to take 3 of the possible 6 party members into combat as you'll generally be taking on 1-3 enemies in a fight. In the event there are 4 or more foes, they get split into equal waves so you won't be overwhelmed. Your max character level is 30.
3) The skills come in two types: zero mana cost, basic attacks with no casting time (instant) and generate temporary mana. Premium attacks that cost mana and have a casting time ranging from very quick to very slow. All skills can be modified with Perks. These come in two different character specific sets; cost 2 to 20 points each. You may acquire up to 200 perk points in total for any character and spend up to 100 points in either set.
4) The fishing mini game is annoying to complete, as the different fish have different spawn rates. There are 5 tiers of rarity (white, green, blue, purple, orange) along with the different dungeon associations. e.g. a Rainbow sub is a purple tier fish, associated with the Junktown dungeon.
5) The bestiary requires 3+ kills of a given foe to display all their stats & abilities. Possible loot is displayed once it has been acquired, not before. Completing kill challenges will award stat buffs.

The game starts dull easy. After some hours playing
(80% of the time is just awefull slow game pacing, slow walking, long animations, overall pacing continue text, menues ect)
when you reach junktown you just hit a wall.
Bevore you go on legendary difficult in dungeons because its boring otherwise.
Then u hit the wall (full speed, no survivors) u go down to heroic and know what? Still hitting the wall really hard. At the same time you get 19XP per fight while needing 1500+ for a level up.

Mana cost vs usefull outcome is also ♥♥♥♥. Only way to get mana back (you will need 80% mana reserve per fight if u want to stand a chance) is... wait for it... waiting. I mean not playing. Just let your party stand there for i dont know 10min? 20min? Or using mana flasks which takes a lot of time farming mats for.

Impossible to mess balancing so hard up on accident.

I bought the game 4-5 years ago but it wasn't good for me at the time. Late last year I gave it a second chance and I haven't regretted it.
As I get older I'm starting to play turn-based games more and more, and this is one of the first JRPGs I've played and finished. The game is great, has a good story and good character development. The battles are good, the only problem I had was the last one, a bit too hard. I didn't encounter a single bug in the game.

O jogo apresenta-se com a estética de um RPG clássico, no qual o jogador anda literalmente pelo mapa até os pontos de interesse, que são, em sua maioria, as famosas masmorras (ou [i] dungeons [/i]). O sistema do jogo é composto por 6 personagens jogáveis, com metade deles sendo liberados ao longo das horas de jogatina, enquanto que a metade inicial é logo no início da história. Sobre a trama, é bem interessante, mas não foi o suficiente para me manter totalmente preso e com vontade de descobrir mais. O ponto alto é o próprio combate que, embora possa tornar-se repetitivo após tantas horas de [i] gameplay [/i], ainda se mantém forte e divertido. Um ponto negativo bastante pesado é como ocorre a progressão dentro do jogo: primeiro, a EXP é individual de cada personagem, ou seja, é necessária ainda mais horas para que todos do grupo estejam fortes - isso apenas me fez focar num trio de personagens do começo ao fim do jogo e sem nunca testar os demais; segundo, a partir da terceira ou quarta masmorra torna-se necessário a repetição constante destas para que seja possível manter o nível dos personagens equiparados aos dos inimigos - embora seja legal jogar mais, torna-se um [i] grinding [/i] bem desnecessário, no qual o jogador faz tudo no automático. Todavia, mesmo apresentando esses pontos negativos que foram bem complicados, a experiência como um todo do jogo ainda é muito boa.

Charming turn-based RPG with a gorgeous visual style, interesting story, great characters, interactions and a fun mix of exploration, crafting and combat.

The base game's combat/movement speed is a bit slow and could really benefit from speed modifiers.
There's also a decent amount of grind, which i didn't mind too much in this game.

Short review after completing the game (missing only 2 very ginding achievements): a turnbased rpg based on the Battle Chasers comics delivering great art, combat and dungeons while lacking in the story department.

Pros:
- Very beautiful art style for environments, world map and dungeons, very impressive for and indie studio and probably the main attraction of the game
- Great soundtrack for battles, dungeons and great sound design for multiple actions like opening doors, chests and hitting stuff
- Nice looking world map reminiscent of a fantasy treasure map
- Great desing of monsters and bosses (also good animations for them, they are not static like other indie RPGs)
- Competent itemization (good amount of weapons, armor, potions and trinkets) and crafting/enhancing system (able to craft all types of gear and potions and also enhancing weapons and armor)
- Dungeons are the main bread of this game (8 unique dungeons beautiful in their design with their unique monsters, boss and puzzle mechanics with a small touch of roguelite randomization)
- Great turn based combat system with its own perks, mana is rare, however normal attacks/actions (each character has 4 unique normal attacks and even more skills) generate a special overcharge which can be used instead of mana. Normal attacks/actions are instant cast while each skill has a different speed of cast depended on their strength making all actions viable even at endgame
- A cast of 6 characters relatively unique to each other in terms of play style each having 2 massive skill trees to invest in and 3 ultimates per character
- Decent fishing system with great rewards to break up the monotony of combat

Cons:
- Main criticism you will find of this game is that its grindy. This applies to getting stuff to craft everything and to get steam and ingame achievements. While the steam achievements are just for decorations the ingame ones are not, as they permanently increase multiple stats of your party, and as they are so many of them the boost is massive and are a requirement as the game can be hard (this means multiple runs of same dungeons to kill/find stuff and some of the achievements require RNG events to happen and if you are unlucky you will loose a lot of time replaying)
- The main story is very lackluster in combination with barely any sidequests and character development it only serves to move you from one dungeon to the next one
- A lot of monsters appear as reskins in later areas (this is very noticeable for slimes, bats, bandits and spiders)
- Some bugs are present as you can get stuck in some puzzles in dungeons, or in the fishing menu if you press to quickly and before each combat start there is a slight delay

If you can show some patience regarding the grind and weak main story this game is pretty good, its beautiful art style and great combat makes this a solid indie turn based RPG worth a buy.

BC is a fun little title that really lacks quality-of-life improvements. This is about a 10 hour game lengthened by un--skippable animations.
This game desperately needs a speed-up option. It also needs animation variance since you will see the same move a thousand times.

Other than those negatives, the game is swell in most other aspects: good voice acting, great graphics, and a decent enough plot to get you from dungeon to dungeon.

Gameplay wise, the upgrade suite available to the player is a lot of fun to tinker with. You get two tree for each character as well as grindable perks which are separate from your level.

All in all, a good game that is its own worse enemy. Would recommend, but if you get bored easily or don't multitask this game is too punishing of a timesink with its monotonous loop.

Описание игры не врет - и правда, все в лучших традициях JRPG. Миленько, красиво, персонажи отрисованы с любовью, как и весь окружающий мир. Большой бестиарий, в меру наивные диалоги и т.д. Проблема в том, что в процессе игры я вспомнил, что за что мне не нравятся JRPG. За бесконечные боевки с достаточно примитивной механикой.
Видимо, на эту игру я купился благодаря словосочетанию "Пошаговые бои". Они тут и правда пошаговые ) Но не такие, как люблю я.
Так что если вы ищете что-то в духе JA или XCOM - можете смело проходить мимо. А если ищете, чтобы просто, миленько и с кучей спецэффектов - вам сюда.
Поэтому лично я поиграл в нее всего полчаса, но для приверженцев жанра это явная рекомендация.

Игра нормальная, пройти можно разочек, но я дропнул и вот почему. Впервые прошел ее пару лет назад на свитче, а через время решил пройти на пк и чтот духанулся на примерно середине, мб чуть больше. Думал, что будет также интересно, но нет.

Из плюсов можно выделить приятную внешку, все, что связано со звуком, музыка, озвучка и тд, боевка тоже приятная, до какого-то момента, неплохой хоть и простенький сюжет с проскакивающими рофлянками в квестах, диалогах и тд. Если нравятся всякие пошаговые дpoчилки, то ознакомиться и пройти разулю можно.

Геймплей, условно, можно поделить на 2 части. 1 это бои, куча боев, а 2 это блуждание по карте, крафт и апгрейд снаряги, прохождение данжей с опциональными загадками, ловушками и опять таки боями, рыбалка.
Бои. Они в пошаговом режиме, у нас 3 персонажа, у врагов есть опции, может быть от 1 до 3 уродцев, несколько волн, босс. Варианты доступных нам действий имеют разную скорость, что нужно учитывать чтоб лишнего в eбaлo не пропустить, некоторые абиллки применяются сразу, какие-то через несколько ходов. Имеются расходники, по типу банок. Следить во время рубки с мужиками нужно за 3 полосками, хп, мана/ярость, ульта. Хп - здоровье, тут все понятно, если полоска на 0, мы сосем и ресаемся в ближайшей рыгaлoвкe; Мана/Ярость - полоска как бы общая, но мана работает как мана, везде, тратится на абиллки, а вот ярость идет как дополнение к мане, которая позволит не тратя ману применять наши абиллки, например, есть мечник, у которого растет урон одной способности от потраченной ярости, но он не может по дефолту выжать максимум, тк может накопить условно 30 этой ярости, а макс эффективность абиллки на 60, значит нужно потратить специально ману, чтоб освободить место под ярость (полоска то общая, хоть и с небольшим запасом для ярости), как-то так; Ульта - открывается эта полоска по сюжету, имеет несколько уровней, у каждого уровня этой ульты есть абиллки у каждого персонажа, копится от всего. В принципе, местная механика достаточно интересна, особенно в первое прохождение, разные тактики и персонажи со своим стилем, но в какой-то момент игра в целом начнет поддушивать.
Медленные анимации, местами сомнительный баланс, гринд, затянутые локации, необходимость в куче мусорных боев для выжимания максимума в прокачке, неприятное меню и хреновая работа с мышкой (лучше на паде или на клаве, изредка куда-то тыкая мышкой). Это все не мешает получить удовольствие от игры, но может начать раздражать, если в первый раз я особо не обращал внимания на это, как бы просто фиксировал, но не критично, прошел, то во втором прохождении прям жестко духанулся.
Прочая активность. Есть как бы глобальная карта, похожая на некое поле, можно сравнить с настолками, у нас на каких-то клетках уродцы, ресурсы, вход в локации/данжи, порталы и тд.
Рыбалка доступна именно в таких данжах, выглядит это как мини игра где нужно закинуть удочку и если клюнет, то жать васд в нужном направлении, каком именно, смотрим по рыбе.
Крафт и чарки (в некоторых локацих есть свои, уникальные), нужно приобрести рецепты, найти место где это сделать + ресурсы.
Данжи, это бои, босс, загадки. Загадки, в основном, опциональные, их даже можно пропустить по невнимательности, чтоб их решить, нужно читать записочки и искать необходимый кaл, причем именно читать и запомнить, тк некоторые не дадут второго шанса и потенциальный лут будет пpocpaн. Для этих данжей, у каждого персонажа есть доп абиллки, которые имеют какое-то количество зарядов (пополняются после сна в таверне). Сами данжи имеют 3 уровня сложности.
Ловушки простенькие, в нас может летать всякая ccaнинa, шипы вылазить из дырочек, деревяная балда кататься по маршруту и тд, если вы достаточно внимательны, то ничего с вашими булочками не произойдет, в противном случае всякие продолговатые предметы будут входит в вас как к себе домой, со смазкой и без.
Есть неочевидные квесты, или около того, которые не заносятся в наш дневник и мы должны запомнить те или иные штуки, чтоб это пройти, тоже опционально. Простой и относительно близкий пример, это в каком-то баре мы можем найти мужика в шляпе, из взаимодействия с которым мы понимаем, что нам тоже нужна подобная шляпа, а дальше уже сами, хотите, ищите шляпу и попробуйте с ним поговорить после, мб вы даже видели где ее достать но не знали зачем, а можете просто xyйцa забить.

По прохождению, ориентируйтесь часов на ~30, мб чуть больше, все будет зависеть от изучения вами побочного контента и общего облизывания игры.

Повторюсь, в первый раз игра мне понравилась, особо дoeбывaтьcя как-то не хотел и прошел не без удовольствия, а вот во второй духанулся и дропнул на середине, это не делает саму игру хуже, просто узнав её разок, она ничем не удивит более, сюжета ради неинтересно, а механика и рубка с боссами во второй раз не работают на достаточном уровне, лично для меня и именно в этой игре, нет того интереса первооткрывателя, изучения игры и, тупо кайфа от избиения различных eбaк на поляне за 3 монеты. В любом случае, к приобретению могу порекомендовать, неплохой проект в жанре пошагового дpoчeвa.

The combat is the reason to play this game. Hands down. The art is gorgeous, the soundtrack is varied and decent, and the story is...a story. The characters are tropes, but enjoyably so.

The character progression is fun, the perks letting you lean into multiple aspects of each one's strengths, and mixing and matching is fun too. I haven't done a lot with the enchanting system but it seems pretty basic at this point. Add a 10% chance to do something onto weapons, add a passive effect to armours. The loot itself is all over the place, but the power spikes are few and far between it feels like. And most gear comes with strengths and weaknesses, making you really weigh whether you want that extra damage because it'll open your squishy up to being SO squishy, they can be one shot.

The dungeons are random, which is good because you'll likely be doing some of them more than once - so it's a nice surprise to see entirely different layouts when you head back for round 2 to grind out that XP. You'll need to do those grinds because at several points (and I'm only on dungeon 4 out of what I believe is 8) you will suddenly encounter difficulty ebbs and flows. You think things are fine and then some random nobody enemy is throwing out half your team's health in an AOE ability and suddenly it's just the tank standing alone. This contrasts the final boss of the dungeon, where you feel like you deal with them no problem. I'm currently doing dungeon 3 again to ready myself for dungeon 4 and the surrounding area, where I encountered hidden bosses with crazy strength and had to quit/die.

But the combat itself has a lot of synergies and different things you can do with it, although I personally believe that among the 6 people, giving only one true tank does pigeonhole the need to have them in the party at all times. It's the main main character so in a way it makes sense, but a little more variety there wouldn't have hurt. And yes I know I can use the rogue to /possibly/ evade attacks after taunting, but that's not the same as having a way deeper HP pool and resistances and planning to just take a hit. It's a choice that the non-combatants get no XP, further reinforcing the need to grind to keep everyone levelled, but the combat is enjoyable enough that so far, that isn't annoying. Some might find it slow, but once the combat becomes mindless I'd argue it takes the fun out of it. Having choices and needing to adapt to enemies and their speeds and abilities is alright by me.

So basically...come for the combat, stay for the art, and just know that you'll be grinding. If you're here for a story, I will refer you to the comic books, which probably have better stories.

Чудова гра для тих хто полюбляє покрокові бої. Така собі JRPG в західному стилі. Приємна картинка, колоритні персонажі та дуже вдалий геймплей. Гравець на вибір має шість персонажів, кожен з яких має персональні навички. В бій можна брати тільки трьох. Тому треба грамотно комбінувати героїв та їх скіли. Боїв тут буде багато. Є крафт та грінд. Сюжет досить посередній. Він не поганий, він просто є. Я брав по знижці, але зараз я б і за фуллпрайс взяв.

Battle Chasers has solid graphics and a charming art style, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end for me. Despite its good presentation, the game is incredibly boring. I’ve played for around eight hours, and the entire time I felt like I was just wandering in circles with no real objective or motivation to keep going.
The pacing is slow, the progression feels empty, and nothing in the gameplay encouraged me to push forward. Instead of feeling engaged, I just felt tired of doing the same thing over and over again.
I didn’t enjoy it at all, and I can’t recommend it.

Before anything else, I'd like to address the save system. My game froze and my save file got corrupted. There is a backup, but it's hidden in the system files, and since it gets overwritten when a new save happens, the odds are if your main save gets corrupted, the backup will be as well. Needless to say, I wasn't amused at having 38 hours just written off, and from then on I fiddled around with the save files making my own backups, and if I can do this, the game should have been able to as well.

So why the positive review when such a situation would normally get an immediate thumbs down + rant of "worst game evah!"? Because Battlechasers is, quite frankly, a masterpiece. Whether hunting treasures on the overhead world map, solving puzzles in the isometric dungeon exploration screens, or combining a plethora of abilities from your six heroes to battle the enemies in the turn based combat mode, there's just so much to do. From start to finish you're always working toward something, whether it's working on the next dungeon, unlocking super burst abilities, or eventually locating the materials to craft the best weapons. You're unlocking a new ability or talent option almost every level, and what's amazing is they all work!

Honestly, it's rare to find a game that gives you 50+ abilities and you use more than 10 across the whole play. Yet in Battlechasers I found myself constantly tweaking perks to find new combinations. There are just so many great options, all of which interplay between other characters and even weapon enchants. The interplay is immense. Even when you complete the game and go into NG+, it's like playing a completely different game because you're still gaining more perk points and building stronger and stronger heroes, and the enemies have been tuned to match those new super power combos. The balancing job done in this game is just out of this world incredible.

And that love and care extends into other areas, too. The visuals are amazing, from the quirky attacks like the mage summoning an arcane ball and then batting it at the enemy with his staff, or the death animations of the enemies such as the death knights who literally get dragged back to the underworld by skeletal arms, or the comic sequences that tell the story as you reach the bosses in the dungeons, or even the fact that the weapon image on the sprites in the overworld and dungeon maps change to match the 20 odd weapons each character can get. These are details you wouldn't know you were missing if they weren't there, but they add so much the charm and make you aware you're playing something truly special.

I went into this with a degree of scepticism, largely based on the cheesy title (which I now know is based off a comic or light novel), but boy am I glad I played it. An absolute gem (but give us a better save system next time, please!).

Definitely one of those under rated turn based rpg gems. Mechanics are pretty solid and you can use any 3 party variations of all 6 party members. Some party variations are better than others but everything else is viable to finish the game.

Solid story and while the fleshing out of the party member leave more to be desired, you can't go wrong with using one of the classic solid cliche plots. After checking around, this game is starting to look like a one off and we will probably not be seeing a sequel any time soon (if any at all). There is a comic series which, from what I can understand is the prequel of the game, serves as the continuation and jumping-on point of the original comic series.

For achievement hunters and completionists, you can get all the achievements with at least 2 run through of the game. More, if you don't check on guides or unluckily soft locked yourself with that one missable achievement. I recommend running and getting most of the achievements on your first run as well as acclimating yourself with the characters and their techs. For the 2nd run, you dont need to do everything as some things do carry over but if you want to keep it fresh, I recommend using a mod that reshuffles your party after every encounter. The thrill of getting 2 healers or no healer at all or even a no dps team will keep you on your toes throughout that 2nd run.

Game play is solid but can be quite slow and tedious but it is possible to get everything in around 60 hours or less. I got unlucky with RNG on 2 of the achievements so it took a while (IYKYK). Overall, great game, hope a sequel comes along in my lifetime or at least a reboot/remake for sustainability/longevity.

CRPG con un apartado artístico impecable.
Las mazmorras tienen niveles de dificultad y son muy amables con el error. No te quedarás estancado y si te pasa, con farmear un poco o bajarle la dificultad puedes avanzar.
Los personajes no se reparten la EXP por lo que si no los usas, se quedarán atrás en cuanto a nivel.
El crafteo es sencillo si lo llevas todo a la par.

Los combates son satisfactorios aunque, en mi caso, me acostumbré a ciertos combos de personajes y para cuando conseguí personajes nuevos se quedaron en el banquillo por siempre jamás.

Si este juego te gusta, puedes continuar con el "Ruined King" de RIOT, es el mismo juego con la skin del LoL y con algún detalle extra como la potencia de los ataques y como repercute en el turno.

A really charming and fun JRPG. It's a bit grindy and the story doesn't have very high highs, but I like it a long.

Gameplay design is fantastic. The game has so many good ideas and executes on all of them. Exploration and collectables are great, combos are super well done, and the game is super polished.

I actually most of breaking bad, and a few documentaries, while playing this game.
