Forgot what the lantern prompt was after only been shown it once at the very beginning. A bit annoying that the lantern key isn't shown on the gameplay settings either - so 2h into the game, I only found then after searching online.

Aside from this, great game. Very relaxed, easy puzzle solver and relatively short. But beautiful story and atmosphere and you can turn into a bird! How cool

absolutely one of my favorite games I've ever played

simple, yes, but the story of you seek it out is so rich and the visuals are beautiful despite their simplistic style. the puzzles are challenging without being impossible, and the game does a good job of guiding you through most every corner of the world, and I've found that where it doesn't take you on its own, you want to go anyways. a short play (I can finish it in like 2-3 hrs without rushing) but one definitely worth anyone's while

Les graphismes sont plutôt carrés et avec peu de détails. Au point qu’il est parfois difficile de faire la différence entre un nuage et une montagne. Mais il se dégage une certaine poésie et je le trouve plutôt joli.
Il s’agit d'un jeu d’aventure découvertes/énigmes, et plutôt orienté détente, les énigmes ne sont pas très difficiles et les aventures se font en marchant ou en volant dans un monde ouvert…. Pas de combats, pas de mort violente, en fait pas de mort du tout : le jeu vous renvoie au dernier point de contrôle. Les commandes sont faciles à prendre en main. Je le trouve un peu court mais ça reste un joli moment de détente.

One of those 'it's about the journey not the destination or the end goal' types. Flight mechanic might need getting used to but I simply enjoy exploring and flying thru areas and chill. The game has low-poly graphics but still incites a sense of wonder and exploration.

I also love games with WHOLE SKIPPABLE AREAS that does not necessarily add to the main progression, but is just there because devs trust players that they will discover them. The game is a cut short of 2 hours, but I clocked in at 5 because I want to see everything.

Story isn't much of a high point, but as pilgrims and pilgrimages goes, this one has a passable story. Also, there are like, 10 NPCs? Lol. I wish there were more people around to make it a bit more lively.

Will obviously one day come back to it when I think I wanted to rediscover the joy this game brings. Fairly cheap and it does get on sale often so it doesn't hurt to simply try it out for yourself.

Wir spielen eine junge Frau in einer wundersamen Abenteuerwelt, die sich in einen Vogel verwandeln kann. Wir bekommen eine leichte Geschichte im Hintergrund erzählt, eine Welt voll schwebender Inseln und einiger Tiere, vor allem ist alles recht farbenfroh.

Die [b]Grafik[/b] ist sehr stilisiert, das Spiel ist dementsprechend kein Augenschmaus, doch alles ist in sich stimmig, auch das [b]Sounddesign[/b] ist solide.
Ein normaler Durchlauf des Spiels dauert um die 3 bis 4 Stunden. Leute, die das Spiel mit allen [b]20 Achievements[/b] vervollständigen wollen, sollten (auch bei Zuhilfenahme von Guides) 4,5 bis maximal 9 Stunden einplanen.

[b][u]Fazit[/u]:[/b]
Ich empfehle dieses friedliche und farbenfrohe [b]Abenteuer[/b] allen Fans von entspannten und einfach netten Erkundungen ohne Bedenken.
Ich finde den [b]regulären Vollpreis[/b] [u]noch fair und angemessen[/u], würde das Spiel aber eher als Kauf im [b]Steam-Sale[/b] empfehlen. Bei halbem Preis (oder gar 90% Rabatt wie im Moment!) ist es ein zauberhafter Schnapper für Genre-Liebhaber!

I recommend this game with a hesitant "get it on sale" vibe. If I were to rate this game on a scale of x/10, I'd give it a 6/10 just because of all the great potential wasted.

Beautiful art direction, interesting environmental story telling, and amazing flying physics. Yeah... except the art direction is wasted on empty environments with little incentive to explore beyond what's needed to complete the story (and achievements), the main story (if you can call it that) is extremely short with a dissatisfying ending that came up REALLY fast, and the flight mechanics aren't used beyond exploring the game's main hub. There are some areas that offer backstory to the player, but that's the extent of why you'd land on a random island in AER.

When you're not lost exploring the main hub, you'll be solving basic puzzles in temples to progress. That boil's the game down to "find the switch(es)" or "use these switches in this pattern" to open a door... and that's about it. That flying mechanic that's heavily shown in the official screenshots promoting this game? Nope, it's just a mode of transportation. That lantern you use as a tool in this game? Just something you use to activate switches. That's it. Literally, that's it. That's the game cycle summarized in one paragraph.

I understand this isn't an action-paced adventure game, it's deliberately designed as a relaxing walking sim, but it felt so underwhelming when I suddenly completed the game. For what you pay it's a cool but extremely flawed 3-hour adventure that needed time to bake in the oven.

If the developer made a remake of AER that expanded upon these great ideas and lore, I'd be fair game. Until then my rants will echo the 2.5K reviews everyone else made (as of writing).

Il s'agit d'un jeu d'aventure dans lequel vous incarnez une jeune fille qui peut prendre la forme d'un oiseau pour explorer librement un monde magique d'îles flottantes.

Un voyage initiatique, d'une jeune prêtresse d'un anciens monde, un scénario assez convenue avec un style graphique low poly une musique très agréable.

Tout est dans le gameplay, vraiment très agréable, on peut voler dans le ciel et choisir une destination pour découvrir des ruines. Il y aura souvent plusieurs énigmes qui ne sont jamais bêtes ni méchante, parfois de la plateforme. Avec votre torche vous pouvez voir des personnages d'une époque lointaine. Cela créer une ambiance mystérieuse et sympathique.

C'est très plaisant de flânée dans ce monde très colorés et bien construit. Chercher tout les secrets caché sur la maps est un plaisir.

Pour conclure :

Jeu très coloré et reposant. Vous passez un moment plaisant.
Je le recommande pour tous.

Concernant les chasseurs de succès, j'ai juste eu un problème concernant : cache-cache / hide and seek ou il faut trouver un enfant, le succès a été patché, il faut trouver l'enfant derrière un rocher et non plus derrière le petit arbre au dessus du village.

Great little game, less than 5 hours to do everything. The flying mechanic is fun and fairly intuitive, the art is beautiful, and the story, while silent, gets you right in the emotions through the lantern/spirit mechanic - moving me to near tears at one point. Worth the afternoon playthrough.

作为一款独立游戏还是过得去的，可以当一个飞行模拟器，画面风格、音乐都还不错
游戏性一般，弱引导，全靠自己到处飞来探索，整个主线流程中也没有什么游戏性，就到处飞对话，有那么一丝丝的解密，基本也等于没有了，解密基本就是A、B两条路，A堵住了去B，B打开机关，然后通过A，反复循环。
剧情我是一点没看懂，过于分散的背景交代，和诡异的中文翻译。大概就是个创世神死了留下一个神器，然后神器三分碎片，收集碎片保护世界的故事。

Man spielt die Gestaltwandlerin Auk, die sich in einen Vogel verwandeln kann - und ja, das ist genauso cool, wie es klingt. Das Game setzt voll auf Exploration, Vibes und eine melancholische Welt, weniger auf Action oder Combat. Es ist eher ein ruhiger Sonntagmorgen-Trip als ein Adrenalinrausch.

[h1]📖 Handlung / Story[/h1]
Die Welt ist in schwebende Inseln zerbrochen, Relikte einer alten Katastrophe. Auk wird von den Göttern geschickt, um alte Tempel zu besuchen und ein drohendes Unheil aufzuhalten. Die Story wird minimalistisch erzählt - viel passiert über Umgebung, Ruinen, Statuen und kurze Dialoge. Das ist kein Story-Brett wie „Life is Strange“, sondern eher subtil und symbolisch. Ich mochte diese mystische, leicht traurige Grundstimmung total, auch wenn ich mir manchmal mehr Hintergrundinfos gewünscht hätte.

Das Herzstück ist ganz klar das Fliegen. Sich einfach von einer Klippe zu stürzen und als Vogel durch die Lüfte zu gleiten, fühlt sich frei und leicht an - fast meditativ. Es gibt kleine Tempel-Dungeons mit simplen Rätseln, Hebeln, Schaltern und ein bisschen Plattforming. Combat? Fehlanzeige. Das Spiel lebt vom Erkunden, vom Entdecken kleiner Inseln und versteckter Orte.

Die Steuerung ist insgesamt solide, besonders das Fliegen geht gut von der Hand. Am Anfang fühlt es sich minimal schwammig an, aber nach kurzer Zeit ist man drin. Auf dem Controller hat es für mich am besten funktioniert. In engen Tempel-Passagen war das Springen manchmal etwas hakelig, aber nichts Dramatisches.

Sehr entspannt. Es gibt keine Kämpfe, keine wirklichen Fail-States. Die Rätsel sind eher leicht bis mittel. Wer harte Challenge sucht, wird hier nicht glücklich. Wer aber einfach mal runterkommen will, ist hier richtig.

Low-Poly-Optik mit klaren Farben und weiter Sicht. Die Welt wirkt offen, leer und gleichzeitig wunderschön. Gerade Sonnenauf- und -untergänge haben bei mir echt was ausgelöst. Es ist kein Grafikmonster, aber stilistisch sehr stimmig. Diese Mischung aus Reduktion und Weite passt perfekt zur Thematik von Isolation und Vergänglichkeit.

Der Soundtrack ist ruhig, orchestral, fast schon spirituell. Er trägt enorm zur Atmosphäre bei. Die wenigen Dialoge sind nicht vertont, sondern als Bildschirmtexte umgesetzt. Das passt zur ruhigen Erzählweise, auch wenn etwas Voice Acting dem Ganzen vielleicht noch mehr Tiefe gegeben hätte.

Ich hatte keine nennenswerten Bugs. Performance war stabil, Abstürze gab es keine. Technisch eher unauffällig - im positiven Sinne.

Kein Grind. Kein Farming. Keine nervigen Sammelorgien. Optional kann man ein paar Nebenorte entdecken, aber das ist rein freiwillig. Sehr angenehm.

Mit etwa 4 bis 6 Stunden ist man durch, je nachdem, wie sehr man die Welt erkundet. Es ist also eher ein kurzer Indie-Snack als ein Langzeitprojekt. Für mich war die Länge okay - länger hätte es sich vielleicht gezogen.

Die Achievements sind größtenteils erkundungsbasiert und gut machbar. Nichts super Frustiges, kein ultra-harter Skill-Check. 100 % sind definitiv drin ohne mentalen Breakdown 😄. Wer aber Freiheit, Atmosphäre und dieses Gefühl von „einfach mal fliegen“ sucht, bekommt ein kleines, feines Erlebnis. Für mich war es wie ein kurzer, emotionaler Spaziergang durch eine zerbrochene Welt - nicht laut, aber nachhallend.

The art style and flight mechanic in this game is absolutely lovely, and at times the visual storytelling is very good. But most of the game is spent in uninteresting puzzle dungeons where you can't fly. And the rest of the story is a paint by numbers "defeat the ancieng evil", and then when you finally get to the ancient evil the game just ends.

Overall, the sound design is commendable, both in terms of sound effects and music. The weather sounds are very harsh, and the background music contributes significantly to immersing the player in the game world. The background music really elevates the visuals, and the environmental sounds (both background music and nature sounds in general) are very pleasant.

Honestly, I'm still not entirely sure about the message the story wants to convey; there's still much I need to ponder, but to me, the story is about what we're willing to sacrifice for what we define as part of ourselves. I find the debate surrounding the protagonist's unpopularity confusing – like, yes, that's the developer's intention, right? A protagonist who's difficult to talk to and not someone you'd want to support isn't new, but ultimately, if you're on a road, it's still just a road – a fact confirmed by the Minister of Transportation.

Entspanntes Adventure-Game, bei dem es vor allem Spaß macht, in der Außenwelt herumzufliegen und die verschiedenen Inseln zu erforschen, welche leider zum Teil leer sind. Die Vorkommnisse, die zum Zustand der Spielwelt geführt haben, erfährt man hauptsächlich durch Schriftrollen und "Seelen" aus der Vergangenheit, die die damaligen Ereignisse in einzelnen Sprechblasen wiedergeben. Mit ca. 4 Stunden Spielzeit ideal für einen entspannten Nachmittag.

Gameplay:
In der Außenwelt kann man auf Knopfdruck sich in einen Vogel verwandeln und entspannt durch die Welt fliegen und die Gegend nach Wahrzeichen, Storyinhalten etc. erforschen. Bei erneuten Knopfdruck verwandelt man sich zurück in eine menschliche Gestalt, was je nach Geschwindigkeit des Fluges es nicht einfach macht, dort zu landen, wo man will.
In den Tempeln, die verschiedene Level repräsentieren, hat man keine Flugfähigkeit. Da läuft und springt man hauptsächlich rum und löst paar einfache Schalterrätsel, die überwiegend einfach nur der Reihe nach aktiviert werden müssen, um weiterkommen zu können. Nicht besonders spannend und fordernd, jedoch passt dies zur entspannten Atmosphäre des Spiels. Etwas negativ ist hier die Sprungfähigkeit anzumerken: Das Springen wird recht schwerfällig, in der Luft lässt sich die Spielfigur nur minimal steuern und ich hatte den Eindruck, dass es zwischen Tasteneingabe (Mit Xbox-Controller gespielt) und Aktion eine geringe Verzögerung gibt, wodurch manche Sprünge fehlschlagen können. Die "Strafe" dafür ist, dass man nicht selten relativ lange Wege erneut laufen muss, wobei das Tempo der Figur gerade in solchen Fällen verbesserungswürdig ist.

Minimalistisch und stark stilisiert, sieht aber im Kern gerade in Hinblick aufs Spiel passend aus.

Ton:
Soundeffekte sind ganz nett, aber nichts krasses. Musik ist schön entspannend

Errungenschaften: Neben einfach Spiel durchspielen gibt es noch Errungenschaften dafür, dass man entweder spezielle Aktionen ausführt oder bestimmte Orte/Wahrzeichen findet, was aber nicht schwierig ist, wenn man interessiert die Welt erkundet.

An entertaining game lasting around three hours. Especially enjoyable are the flying sections and the fact that you have a certain amount of freedom to explore and collect items on the map in any order. However, the platforming and puzzle sections are a bit boring, and I didn't find the story particularly engaging. When it comes to presenting the story in a more interesting way without so much text, games like Outer Wilds and Journey come to mind.

The music also grated on me a bit in certain sections. I was expecting something more solemn.

AER has a brilliant flying mechanic. First time the game asked me to spread the wings, I giggled with joy because of how good it felt.

It is a real shame that it forces you to walk while solving unchallenging puzzles and platforming sections for blasted 80% of the game.

Seriously, I once spent 30 minutes of my life putting down bridges so that A CHARACTER WHICH CAN FLY could walk over the cavern.

This frustrates me so much, I honestly cannot recommend it even for a few dollars.

Also, the final boss is a cutscene.

Cute little low poly fantasy game with a couple of rough edges. The movement and collision handling are both, frustratingly rough, and highly entertaining, when they work. I finished the game, so it's not too much of a bother imo, but there are some locations where it can get a bit frustrating depending on player and controls.

If you already have it, play it, if you don't, wait for a sale.

I have a few minor gripes, collisions are a little jank, momentum off of moving platforms feels a little weird, and some stair hitboxs just dont exist. But overall this is a very beautiful game. Short but sweet, with no combat, and simple puzzles. It could easily be described as a walking simulator, but I don't take that that as a negative. The story is very cute, and it's got a genuinely beautiful art style. The flying feels very smooth and satisfying, and the designs of the characters/spirits is fantastic. You can tell the devs really liked zelda. I'd definitely recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys cute aesthetic games.

Если быть откровенным, лично мне данная игра не шибко сильно понравилась, но я признаю, что она интересная, и в ней присутствует свой хорошо прописанный сюжет. Визуально игра не очень выделяется, так как состоит из полигонов, но подземелья выглядят красиво, этого не отнять. Также мне понравилась музыка, которая создает атмосферу и не надоедает во время прохождения. Сюжет же отличный, сразу видно, что разработчик старался над ним в первую очередь. В некоторых моментах получилось немного затянуто и скучно, но, возможно, это моя проблема восприятия. Из минусов могу выделить лишь управление - оно плохое. Не ужасное, не отличное, просто плохое. Либо эту игру изначально не делали под ПК, или просто плохо поработали с управлением, которое, к слову, не меняется в настройках игры.

Если подводить итог, то я бы скорее советовал эту игру, чем нет, но с оговоркой: если Вам нравятся затяжные истории с постепенным раскрытием сюжета, а также элемент загадочности в самом сюжете, то Вы найдёте в данной игре это, а если же нет, то я бы не советовал покупать её, ибо будет скучно проходить сие творение. Скажу также пару слов по поводу достижений: они легкие, на этом всё.

I clocked 3.6 hours, which is enough time to finish the main quest, grab a coffee, and wonder why the ancient civilization decided to protect world-ending secrets with puzzles that require the intellectual rigor of matching three socks. The visuals are fire, though—10/10 screenshot simulator, perfect for signaling to your followers that you are a sensitive, zen bozo who needs a digital therapy session. While the music attempts to lull you into a state of spiritual enlightenment, my gamer brain was screaming for a health bar. В общем, данная игра зайдёт далеко не всем. AER подойдёт тем, кто хочет расслабиться и отвлечься от рутины. Но Вы должны знать, в игре нет ни впечатляющего звукового сопровождения, ни качественных полётов в форме птицы (серьёзно, в игре даже "мёртвую петлю" или "бочку" сделать нельзя), ни прописанного лора и сюжета (предысторию мира чуть-ли не в каждом письме или диалоге будут повторять по несколько раз, в это же время важную информацию подобная участь обошла стороной).

A cozy game with puzzles and no fight. It is a fairly short game maybe around 3-4hours worth based on your puzzle solving skills. Used to play late so would help me calm down with the music and flying around.
Weirdly I loved the animation of going through clouds.

The music, artwork and story would lead me to recommend it.

The game was beautiful and very well designed. Each area had unique features and was fun to explore. The first time you press the transform button and fly through the sky feels magical. I also loved the lantern mechanic, where it reveals secrets as you pass through different areas.

One aspect of the game that felt lacking was the story. It didn’t really flow very well, and I often found myself trying to remember different pieces of it. I think the game would have benefited from a journal or book that filled up as you discovered entries, allowing you to go back and reread them.

Overall, if you enjoy exploring, platforming, puzzles, and stunning visuals, this game is definitely for you.

AER Memories Of Old is a non-violent exploration game set on a series of sky-islands. You play as Auk, a human with the power to shape-shift into a bird, on a pilgrimage to learn more about the land’s history, its Gods, as well as the cataclysm that plagues it. The player accomplishes this by using their ability of flight to travel between islands, and their ability of basic pattern recognition to solve rudimentary puzzles. The player is then rewarded with items used to unlock further areas of the game as well as fragments of lore.

There is not much to be said about AER’s gameplay. While in a dungeon, your verb-set is limited to jumping and interacting with switches. Puzzles range from basic platforming, to selecting the correct symbol out of a group of four - with the answer key but a few steps away. From a mechanical perspective, the singular highlight is traversing from island to island via flight. This is where the games atmosphere, music, and art design coalesce into an ethereal, comforting experience. In hindsight, I wish this game leaned more into this strength, with a larger map and more flight based puzzles.

But I believe Forgotten Key placed a higher priority on aesthetics, and in this regard they did succeed. The high saturation, low-poly look lends itself well to flying amongst the clouds. The temples are appropriately somber and moody. A personal highlight is the presentation of the Old Gods, which were evocative, at times stunning, while still matching the restrained nature of the game’s art design.

I still debate whether AER is understated or undercooked. I lean toward the latter. The game makes gestures toward ideas of imperialism and the destruction of culture, as well as the idea of nurturing hope and compassion as an aspirational ethos. But without a strong narrative pull, I felt aimless and had trouble feeling engaged - despite my best efforts. I do feel like if I step back and squint my eyes, I can appreciate this work of art more than when I try to get up close and analyze its details. Perhaps that's the point.

A hesitant 5 out of 10.

Recommended - it is walking sim - flier - adventure game. It is okay with plenty of polish besides the story that is super weak and forgettable. The ending is plenty conclusive - nothing concrete was ever established anyway.

The frame rate goes down the toilet when there are several moving objects on the screen if you are playing on a potato.

The game is quite short with a couple of maybe hour-long dungeons with puzzles that a child-in-sleep could solve. Go through the shrines to fetch some McGuffins and you will beat the game. The HowLongToBeat is about 3.0 hours. It is about right and most of the time is spent figuring out where to go.

There has been imitations of this game, though none of them have been any good.

esse game é uma experiencia de forma geral, em alguns aspectos positivos, outros nem tanto.

Eu sou uma pessoa muito acostumada a seguir as missões, faça X, vá a Y e assim por diante, esse jogo simplesmente começa e você que lute para explorar, descobrir e avançar na historia, isso pode ser um ponto negativo e ao mesmo tempo positivo, dependendo de como você está acostumado a jogar.

A ideia de poder se transformar em um pássaro e voar livremente pelo cenário é bem legal e divertida, porém no meu caso, ele acabou atacando a cinetose (enjoo e tontura ao jogar alguns games) eu consegui jogar com algumas pausas, caso você tenha, jogue com calma.

O gráfico é bem legal, e o jogo possui uma historia, contada em poucas cenas, e alguns textos ao longo do jogo/interação com personagens, você acaba não fazendo muitas coisas além de voar, ativar a lanterna/plataformas de puzzles e fé, por ser curto, da para jogar e zerar, mas realmente acaba sendo um pouquinho tediante as vezes. As conquistas são simples, mas você precisa explorar tudo e tomar muito cuidado com uma conquista em especifico que é bem perdível. No mais, é um game agradável, mas acabou não me prendendo de fato, só finalizei mesmo e adeus.

Já havia jogado antes mas não tinha me atentado muito na história. Jogando ele hoje, consegui entender perfeitamente de que se trata o jogo e compreender que ele é mais profundo do que aparenta, sendo o foco principal da narrativa do jogo o sacrifício, recomendo muito que joguem, vale cada segundo

Absolutely beautiful and amazing game. I have owned this for years and I wish I had played it sooner. The music, the atmosphere, everything was done perfectly. If only the game was longer.
