Platforming doesn't feel right because it lacks inertia, which makes it feel like a mid NES game. The weapons are weak and the tower-defence segments are needlessly stressful due to a time limit during you've to tediously collect the same resources again and build some towers. And WHY do the devs feel the need to have dropped loot from enemies disappear after only 5 seconds!? It also doesn't help that that loot jump out of the corpse in an arc which can cause the loot to drop into a deadly hazard (like spikes).
The writing is so-so, the music is annoying, the visuals are alright.

Aegis Defenders is the kind of game you usually get bundled with something you actually wanted. Easy to overlook, easy to ignore. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how I got it through a Humble Bundle. And honestly, it surprised me in a good way.
That said, I do think it’s priced a bit too high for what it offers. For the amount of content here, this feels like a $10 to $15 game despite its charm.
I played my first run on Insane and it took me around 8 to 9 hours solo to clear the main story, not counting idle time. I then did a second run on Easy for the final achievement, the deathless one. On lower difficulties, you’re probably looking at 5 to 6 hours solo, maybe even 4 to 5 in co-op, which is clearly what the game was designed around.
[b]Gameplay[/b]
The main draw is that it’s a hybrid between a 2D platformer and a tower defense game. The tower defense side is solid. The platforming side is where most of my issues are, which is unfortunate because that makes up the majority of the game.
Early on, it feels fine. You only have two characters and movement is simple. From Act 4 onward, the cracks start to show. The jump feels janky, especially near platform edges. Once you unlock Zula, her dash becomes essential but also the jankiest move in the game.
There’s some old-school charm in how ground dash and air dash don’t share a cooldown, letting you chain them in certain situations. The problem is that later levels are more vertical than horizontal, so you rarely get to fully use that freedom.
Before each defense section, you gather resources. Early levels are simple. Later ones expect you to run across the entire map. On Insane solo, you’ll spend about 90 percent of the prep timer collecting materials, leaving almost no time to plan. Many resources are locked behind moving platforms, bubbles you must wait for, or color-coded doors only specific characters can open.
The tower system revolves around four elements: blue, red, yellow, and purple. Towers are combinations of these. Enemies take drastically reduced damage if you don’t match colors, so red towers are best against red enemies and so on. Because of that, two-color combinations feel far more practical than stacking three of the same color, which usually isn’t worth the cost. The only real exception is the purple material generator, which justifies its investment.
Each character can place a tower of their color and carries two weapons that deal two different elements, usually their main color and a secondary one. For example, Clu places blue towers and uses a blue gun and red bow. The rest follow the same logic.
Outside of defense phases, you fight directly. Clu has a small dodge. Bart can block and repair towers, and his block is one of the strongest abilities in the game if used well. Kaiim shines when left idle with his purple weapon, covering lanes with solid damage, though actively controlling him feels weaker. Zula has the fastest dash, and her bombs can outdamage towers late game.
On lower difficulties, you can lean heavily on weapons and place minimal towers. On Insane, you need both systems working together, and that balance actually feels satisfying.
[b]Progression[/b]
As a solo player, character switching becomes the biggest hurdle.
With two characters it’s fine. With three it’s noticeable. With four it gets cumbersome. You swap using triggers or a radial wheel, and time pauses while switching, which helps. The issue is how often you’re forced to do it.
You constantly leave characters behind for puzzles, switch to move platforms, switch again to unlock doors. During defense sections it gets worse. Party members can follow you or stay separated. If they follow, they barely contribute. If they stay, they attack or repair, but you must manually position each one.
So you’re constantly repositioning based on enemy colors or resource needs. I spent more time swapping characters than reacting to enemies in later stages. It stops feeling dynamic and starts feeling repetitive.
Even tower combinations add friction. If I want to build something like the Tri-Shooter, I have to place one tower, switch characters, combine it, and repeat for each setup. It’s novel at first but becomes tedious.
There are also three bonus platforming stages accessed through NPC cameos, including one featuring Shovel Knight and another referencing Timespinner. Outside of the Shovel Knight one, these levels really highlight the platforming issues.
One feels extremely unfair unless you realize you can rapidly tap jump instead of holding it. The Timespinner one is rough overall, and if you die in any bonus stage, you lose all relics collected up to that checkpoint. That doesn’t happen anywhere else in the game. If you fail late, you must return to the caravan, talk to the NPC again, and restart unless you give up your relics. It feels unnecessary.
[b]Story & Characters[/b]
The story starts with Clu and her grandfather Bart, both ruinhunters, who stumble upon a Kobo named Kobo while scavenging for items to sell to the Scrapmaster.
[b] Major Spoilers Ahead [/b]
From there, the plot revolves around helping Kobo find its “Master.” Along the way, they learn about the weapon known as the Aegis and how [spoiler]Kobo might be connected to it.[/spoiler] With Kaiim, they uncover that the [spoiler]Empire’s experiments are making the animals aggresive[/spoiler], explaining the attacks during defense sections.
After trying to flee on Amber’s caravan, the party is [spoiler]shot down and crashes in the Nereis Desert.[/spoiler] When they wake up, [spoiler]Kobo and Amber are missing.[/spoiler] They later defend Amber from bandits led by Zula, a former princess turned thief. The Empire destroyed her kingdom, and Kaiim’s people suffered the same fate. While protecting her sister, Zula [spoiler]gives Kobo to Hozai, the emperor.[/spoiler] Hozai [spoiler]takes both Kobo and her sister, pushing the party to join forces with Zula.[/spoiler]
They obtain a drill to assault a garrison, rescue children being experimented on, and find Zula’s sister being [spoiler]used to create another pilot for the Clarent, a weapon similar to the Aegis.[/spoiler] After rescuing her, they learn Hozai has taken Kobo to [spoiler]the Clarent[/spoiler] and move to confront him.
There, Hozai reveals [spoiler]Clu was found inside the Clarent as a baby, meaning she and Bart are not related by blood, which also explains why the machine obeys her.[/spoiler] Clu goes with Hozai to protect the others. Later, after reuniting, she admits she has always heard voices and believes it’s [spoiler]the Aegis calling[/spoiler]. The group sets out to [spoiler]free whoever is inside it.[/spoiler]
After the final showdown, the [spoiler]person inside the Aegis is freed. It’s a boy around Zula’s sister’s age who retains the memories of the ancients and fully controls the Aegis. He seizes Hozai and threatens to kill him, but Bart intervenes. Hozai had earlier revealed he and Bart are brothers. After their exchange, Bart leaves Hozai trapped in the Aegis forever. The party leaves, and the ending shows them camping with the boy, whom they name Aeon.[/spoiler]
The story never dives deeper into the Order of Shem, the true nature of the Aegis, the Clarent, or what Kobo really is. Kobo reunites with his master Aeon, but there’s barely any interaction between them. That lack of payoff makes the ending feel like the weakest part of the narrative.
Overall, I’m satisfied. It’s a slightly above average game with a cool hybrid concept that works much better in co-op than solo. Just keep in mind it’s short and has almost zero replay value once you finish it.
[b]TL;DR: A charming 2D platformer and tower defense hybrid that shines in co-op. Solid defense mechanics and likeable characters, but janky platforming, tedious solo micromanagement, and a weak ending hold it back. Short, enjoyable, slightly overpriced.[/b]
Okay so, I got this game for free years back. Humble Bundle had some sort of giveaway event where you could just keep a Steam key for the game forever if you claimed it within a certain time period.
Which, yes, means I didn't pay for this game, but trust me, that doesn't change my opinion of it at all. I've played games for free that I [i]still[/i] wanted a refund of my time for.
[b]Anyway![/b]
[b]Aegis Defenders[/b]. Let's get to it proper.
It's an indie game, published by Humble (hence the giveaway, I'm guessing), that's a mix between [i]platformer and tower defense[/i]. The store page says as much, you probably didn't need me to tell you that.
What does this mean? It means that instead of just controlling a cursor, or using your mouse to place down turrets or whatever, like you would in basically every other tower defense game, you're an actual character occupying physical space. Four characters even. You gradually unlock the full party as you advance the story, which allows you to swap between each character on the fly, as well as making them either follow you or hold a specific position and attack on their own.
So essentially, all your characters are "towers" in their own right, in a way, if you make good use of stationary positioning and commands like that.
On top of that, every character is associated to one [b]color[/b]. Blue, yellow, red and purple. This might seem minor but it ties into EVERYTHING.
There's four types of resources in the game, each tied to a color, matched to a character. Each character needs their respective colored resource to be able to build, since they can only build one thing each using one unit of their own resource.
Each character also has an attack of their own, associated to their color. Attacking enemies of your same color triples damage dealt, meaning you're encouraged to actually match those and pick the right character to attack specific enemies with.
You can also unlock a secondary weapon for each character, with a different color to the character's own, meaning you have SOME leeway for that stuff, once you unlock those second weapons, since you can also switch between those on the fly.
Every stage/chapter is a platforming section, focused on these mechanics as well as plenty of puzzles based on different stage gimmicks, with some collectibles and such, and then a tower defense section at the end where you're enclosed in a specific area and have to defend something specific at the center of it.
So, the actual building/tower defense part.
I mentioned each character can ONLY build one thing, with their one type of resource. You spend one unit, you place one thingamabob down, occupying one space (movement is free but there [i]is[/i] a hidden "grid" for construction stuff). That sounds basic.
But the part that adds depth to this is that constructions can be [i]fused/combined[/i] with each other, if you build on top of something that's already there. THAT'S how you get more than just the four basic things.
For example, placing a second yellow block on top of another yellow block turns it into a yellow turret. But combining a blue mine with that yellow block instead turns it into a shotgun blue+yellow turret. Same with red, which makes a red+yellow ballista turret.
Or for another example, placing a second blue mine on top of a previous blue mine turns it into a three-space set of spikes. And if you then add ANOTHER mine to that it turns it into a set of stronger spikes that apply a debuff on top of their DPS.
There's a lot of things you can do with this, mixing and combining the properties of the different colors/elements! Especially when you can see, before each wave, what color of enemy is expected to mostly come from every area entrance. I do like how the gameplay comes together a lot.
Then add to all of this, [b]co-op[/b]! You can plug in a second controller and have a second player control another of the characters in directional split-screen. Both of you can switch between the available characters and give them commands and such. I originally played the game through with a friend, splitting responsibilities over half of the party each, and it was SUPER fun.
So, gameplay done. How about the [b]visuals[/b]?

It's mainly pixel art, with more high-res 2D art for character portraits and some lore cutscenes.
The pixel art is... fine. It doesn't really feel retro since it doesn't hold itself to any given system or era's limitations (and has plenty of smooth rotation with very clear mixelling on top). I don't feel like it adds anything, but I understand it was probably the cheaper way to do things.
This is a bummer to me because the 2D art is GENUINELY GORGEOUS. Seriously, I adore how the promotional art and all the character portaits look. If the entire game was done in that hand-drawn style instead of the much more simplistic pixel-art it would've been supremely pretty.
In any case yeah, it's serviceable visually, it's not bad, but the simple pixel art feels like it does a bit of a disservice to how good the artists clearly were.
The [b]music[/b]'s pretty good too!
It, uh, doesn't particularly match the pixel art either, being all full quality orchestral tracks (again, the pixel artstyle feels like the weakest link in this whole game), but it's surprisingly really good overall, fitting the story's overall tone pretty well and having some super catchy melodies in a lot of places. I love the chiller piano tracks in particular.
The [b]story's[/b] surprisingly pretty alright. The characters are charming, the setting is neat (and a lot of lore is heavily expanded in the inbetween slideshow cutscenes), the writing is pretty good (even if there's a joke here and there that doesn't quite land), and it does reach a relatively satisfying conclusion by the end!
It doesn't seem like it's even been followed up on in the, uh, 8 years since the game came out, but I do feel like it leaves space for potentially expanding on it, if they were ever to come back and do a sequel or something. I for one would love to see one.
Overall, I like the game a lot! Probably one of the best games I've spent $0 on. REALLY good for co-op especially.
That said, $20 might be slightly steep for it, considering it only has the story mode and nothing else, and that can be beat in... 7-8 hours I'd say, if you're fully blind and have [i]absolutely[/i] no idea what you're doing.
I do recommend the game, it's a fun time! But maybe wait for a bit of a sale.
Enjoyable game. You start off with 2 playable characters, which you can switch based off the need, and eventually build up to 4. When not in use the other characters follow you around or you can make them stationary where they will hold buttons down, attack nearby enemies or operate certain objects. Each level is divided into 2 parts, for most levels. The first part is platforming where you go around solving puzzles, collecting hidden relics and killing enemies on the way to your end goal. The second part is the tower defense part. Before starting you get a chance to explore around your area that you have to defend, most times, and possibly get some collectibles. You trigger the start of the waves. The waves are split into 2 phases, the build phase where you collect resources and build your defenses where it is timed, and the combat phase where you hold off against the enemy waves trying to get to the center. You will know where the enemies will come from and have an idea of enemy composition based off the color of the "smoke" from the enemy spawn point. You can also take an active role with your characters by actively attacking the enemies and placing your other characters to protect a zone and have the AI take over (creating a "free" turret at times). In between levels there is a hub area where you buy upgrades for your weapons and towers along with saving the game and sometimes getting some plot (there are also some special guests later on).
Overall I enjoyed the game and also the story. I played it twice, mainly to get the achievements, and liked going through the story both times. You find out more of the backstory of the world between levels, and even though it didn't go to far into the world building, it was enough to get a good idea about the world and the events that are going on as you make your way through the levels. The music is also catchy and enjoyable, the upbeat music when finding out about Clu's background put a smile on my face and on the flip side the somber music during some of the more darker moments emphasized the severity of the situation.
The one caveat, that others also have, is that the game seems to be mainly designed for the co-op part of it. You can play the game solo, which is what I did, but it gets harder to manage all the defenses against the enemies since the AI characters can't move once you place them somewhere and will only trigger attacks or repairs if the need arises. Collecting the resources and building the defenses can get a bit overwhelming to get it all done, especially since you are timed in the build phase. With two people it is obviously more manageable, especially on the few levels where the thing you are supposed to protect is moving.
Even with that, I would still recommend the game. Cute and enjoyable game, with an original story, good music, and likeable characters. It is a good game to spend a few hours on, with breaks in between levels so you can play in small segments instead of a marathon to the save point.

Esta muy bueno como agregan mecánicas a cada mapa, y sobre todo los niveles bonus que son cameos a otros indies. Lo jugue solo co-op así que no se que tan complicado será en solitario pero en co-op se hizo pasajero, con alguno que otro nivel que hubo que repetir. La cámara partida ayuda un montón.
Me gusta la forma de contar la historia, con sus dos estilos de animaciones y el roleo, que mecánicamente da monedas. La historia en sí la veo como la típica historia de que algo enorme está pasando en el mundo, con una mezcla de la trama de Matrix.
Si se mejorara la movilidad del personaje sería mucho más satisfactorio. Por lo menos hay un botón que tiene al menos 2 acciones y se pisaban en ciertas ocasiones… esto es muy molesto.

К сожалению игра не может похвастаться вариативностью геймплея по ходу основного сюжета, иногда возникает ощущение замкнутости в локации. Довольно проблематично проходить будучи соло-игроком, т.к. спутники не имеют возможности действовать независимо от игрока.
Хотелось бы также заострить внимание на ограничение количества одновременных построек на карте (до 40 штук), при попытке построить новые - начинают исчезать старые.
Похвалить можно за приятное визуальное оформление

Aegis Defenders is a fun and challenging cooperative game, especially enjoyable when played together. It rewards teamwork, as playing too independently makes later enemy waves overwhelming. The world, music, and characters are charming and inviting. The story, however, can feel confusing and fragmented, and could benefit from clearer storytelling. Still, a very enjoyable experience overall.
It gets boring very quickly.
It's an interesting idea but at some point becomes extreamly monotonous. You start juggling between characters trying to get the turrets up and shoot everything but it's just not that fun. The one item that also annoyed me the most is that in the final level I discovered that if you have too many turrets it starts disspawning the first ones.

I tried my best to find something about this game that I like, but it's like someone took the worst elements of a metroidvania, a tower defense, slapped some pretty pixel art on it and called it a day. This game is a sloppy hot mess that just makes you want to play a better metroidvania like Hollow Knight, or a better tower defense game like Dungeon Warfare. But both at the same time? No- this was a terrible idea.

I have the feeling this game is great once you get the hang of it. But for me, after 4h it just didn't click. Maybe it is because it was "too slow" at the beginning, or presented way too many things at once.
You basically need to move between enemy spawn points while collecting stuff AND taking care of your placed turrets, AND also you need to think about the enemy types cause your stuff does not affect them if they don't match colors, so... yeah.
If you can pass the first learn wall, you probably can have fun if you like these "a lot is happening" games.
Tem uma história interessante, mas é extremamente difícil quando se joga sozinho. Parece que foi feito exclusivamente para ser jogado em coop de tão injusto que é. Uma pena, pois eu realmente queria ver o desfecho.

Played this for a while. Did not leave that much of an impression but the exploration phases are engaging, the tower-defense waves ramp up excitement, and the mix keeps you on your toes. It’s especially fun in co-op, where strategy and coordination really pay off. While the solo experience can feel a bit more demanding and some mechanics are tighter with a partner, the core loop of building, defending, and switching characters works beautifully.
I would rate this neutral if I could but I am leaning a bit more on positive, just barely. If you enjoy indie games with personality and inventive mechanics, this one’s a strong pick.

Aegis Defenders is a charming and unique mix of tower defense and action platforming. The game feels polished, and the blend of genres works surprisingly well. Playing solo is fun, but it’s clear that the game shines brightest in co-op — coordinating defenses and fighting side by side adds a whole new layer of enjoyment.
There are plenty of positives here: the art style is colorful and distinct, the soundtrack fits perfectly, and the mix of strategy with hands-on action keeps the pace lively. The upgrade and building mechanics give you room to experiment, and the controls are responsive enough to make the action parts engaging rather than frustrating.
That being said, retention seems to be an issue. After just three levels, which don’t take very long, only about 25% of players have unlocked the related achievement. That suggests that most players stop early, which may be due to pacing or difficulty spikes. While it’s definitely a clever and fun experience, it doesn’t seem to hold on to the majority of its audience for long.
Verdict: Aegis Defenders is worth trying, especially if you have a friend to play with in co-op. At full price it’s harder to recommend, but on sale it’s a creative and entertaining game that’s easy to appreciate.

[b] Tentative Recommendation [/b]
A 2D-platformer/tower defence hybrid with a (eventually) 4-character roster that can be switched between at all times to solve puzzles, find treasures, and build towers to defend objectives.
With a charming presentation -- both in terms of visuals and sound -- and some interesting gameplay ideas, the two discordant elements of the game's overall design come very close to meshing together into a harmonious whole, but the overall experience is let down by the clunky character swapping mechanics and schizophrenic difficulty curve, with stages being either extremely easy or frustratingly difficult with almost no in-between.
To be fair, these problems are mitigated somewhat by playing in co-op mode, but the lack of proper online support -- with multiplayer being local or remote play only -- makes doing so considerably more difficult than it should be, and I had to play through the full campaign solo (and suffer the full brunt of the difficulty spikes) as a result.
All-in-all, Aegis Defenders is a decent game, but its flaws prevent it from becoming an easily recommendable classic.
5.5/10 -- Worth a look on the cheap, but expect some real friction.

Bought it primarily for the touted Tower Defense combat which was a lot of fun right out the gate but the required puzzle-platforming aspect became more apparent shortly into the game and I don't like puzzling so unfortunately it was very off-putting for me. There was very little, if not none, mention of there being puzzling (although likely simple, for most) in this game so I feel misled. If I knew that was part of the game I wouldn't have picked it up.

Controls are really bad, weird placement. And of course you can't jump and then move, you have to be moving when you jump. Pretty sure I got this in a bundle, and I can guess why.

If you play alone you can skip this game. It becomes relativly complicated when you have to do the tower defence mode alone, running arround repairing searching for mats and fighting. its just no fun. if you have someone to play coop with its for sure a hell of fun as the story isnt bad and the graphics look cool. need a easy mode for solo play who dont want to repeat problematic parts of the game over and over again.
I recommend playing this game with a controller since the controls are a bit wonky on keyboard/mouse.
Also, I recommend playing this with a friend too (only 2 player co-op locally).
The soundtrack is surprisingly good along with a decent plotline/story.

Во второй части вам нужно защищать «цель» от врагов. Это своего рода оборонительная часть. Вам нужно расставлять башни, мины и т. д. Неплохо, но ничего выдающегося.
Игра рассчитана на игру с 2 игроками в локальном кооперативе. Да, вы можете менять персонажей в любое время, но гораздо лучше играть с товарищем.

В целом интересно играть, но управление для ПК сделали через жопу.
Не могу сказать, что 420 рублей для такой игры нормально, может за 300 ещё окей.

It's a fun game. It has interesting story, beautiful character design (especially Zula and Amber), challenging and not so complex gameplay, creative level design, beautiful soundtracks, and cool pixel-arts. Despite that, there are a couple of things that I dislike. For example, lack of world lore other than our main story, game lengths are pretty short, some stages require coop gameplay despite this game designed for single-player, and although it has an interesting story, for me the story is not so memorable. Also lack of post game content. If only this game has longer game length and other playable character (Amber for example). But hey, this is still a solid indie game and worth enough to be in your library. Buy during sale I guess

On keyboard, everything is mapped to seemingly random keys. At least they can be remapped, but I'm not even sure if it's worth it, when every single key has to be changed.

Up is down. Like, if I want to go down, I have to press up.
The key that normally, on every single other game, means "ok," in this game means "cancel" and vice versa.
It's a nightmare to rebind the keys on controller because they're not called X and Y, or even Triange and Square.
They're called Button 1, Button 2, etc. Press Button 0 to select.
What button is "Button 0?" I've never seen that in my entire life.
Do not get this game unless you want to become irrationally angry.

although they have single player option , game didn t designed for that. i was casually play solo until some point and then i realized it's unnecessarly hard,annoying,boring to control both character at the same time . so i though next levels would be incredibly hard for a solo player and then i just quit. other than that wth is these controls? let me tell you to controls:

j : attack
k: build
l: special skill
also l: exit from the menu
; follow wait command
tab: change weapon
this is the first time i change controls entirely. worst control decision ever.

Aegis Defenders is a fun little experiment of combining the 2D puzzle-platformer with Tower Defence in a stylish coop-friendly package.
Design-wise it seems to be as good as this concept can be. You play as up to 4 characters, each one of whom has differet abilities useful both in combat and puzzles. You can switch seamlessly between them, having a big range if instruments to work with. The main challange and fun of the game is in knowing which one to apply to which obstacle of big variety of traps and enemies.
The game consists of 6 areas, each one of 3 levels, with new mechanics introduced on every level. You always have something different to do, something new to explore, and it never becomes to boring or repetetive. The game never overstays its welcome.
It took be 18 hours to complete, but it's because I'm not very good at platformers or tower defence games, and I was playing on keyboard. For someone more adept, 13-15 hours will be enough.
I think, the optimal way to play is on controllers with a partner.
Aegis Defender features nice pixel art, very fine charcter art, and nice music. The story is thoughtful and heartfelt, with likeable characters, and a good lesson at the end... But I feel that the story is a bit constrained by the format. The lore, worldbuilding and character work seems a bit much for the runtime, and in some ways it comes out as a bit flat. But no less enjoyable.
Overall, I recommend this game as a good aesthetically pleasing brain teaser to play with a friend.

게임 진행은 퍼즐 플랫폼 진행 후 마지막엔 타워디펜스로 마무리되는데 타워디펜스는 혼자한다면 재료파밍에만 시간 다 날라가는데 타워까지 만들어야되느라 많이 바쁨;;
디펜스가 나름 단순해서 대충 훑어보면은 '아 적들이 어떤 종류로 오고 어느 방향으로 와서 어떻게 배치하면 좋겠구나' 그런게 보임
사실 말이 타워디펜스지 타워는 몬스터 움직임을 지연 시키는용이고 캐릭터가 직접 가서 몬스터 잡는 식이라 바쁨 다른 타워디펜스처럼 손 놓고 구경하는 타입은 아님
그리고 2인 코옵이 되는데 혼자하면은 아주 바쁜데 둘이 하면은 엄청 쉬워질거 같음 그래서 싱글 모드랑 듀오모드로 나눠놓고 밸런스를 재구성해야되는거 아닌가 시프요..
게임 디자인이 마음에 드는데 한글 미지원이라 "제발 누군가가 한글패치 좀 만들어줬으면..ㅠ" 하며 라이브러리에 오랜 시간동안 먼지만 쌓여갔었는데 어느샌가 한글패치를 만들어주셨단거 보고 흑흑 ㅠㅠ 감사..!! 압도적 감사..!!!!
근데 하나 이해가 안되는 점이 나는 최소한 평작은 하는 무난한 게임이라 생각드는데 엔딩본 사람이 7%밖에 없어.. 왜이리 사람들이 안했지.. 어려운것도 재미없던것도 아닌데.. 왜징..

Although I had my fun with this game and found 100%-ing it to be mostly fun enough, I find it difficult to recommend this game. If you buy it for the story and some casual gameplay on normal difficulty, don't let my review stop you - my gripes are primarily related to the "Insane" difficulty.
For one, I found it rather frustrating to play it solo. Not only is it rather frustrating - while it is certainly humanly doable, some missions and side objectives objectives I found impossible to do entirely on my own. So I decided to invite my friend to play the game with me... and, somehow, *specifically* while we're playing co-op, the game seems riddled with bugs, where it hardly - if ever - failed me in solo play.
Saying that the game is unplayable would be absurd. However, given that the co-op experience seems to be a buggy mess while the game (or at least the higher difficulties) have clearly not been balanced for solo play. It just doesn't sit right with me to give it a thumbs up in the face of that.
