Si tuviese MAPA y MISIONES (como categoría en el menú) sería un juego que disfrutaría muchísimo hasta el final. Pero al no haber forma de revisar ni quién te pide qué, ni dónde está quién... Por el momento se queda desinstalado y en juegos con mucho potencial pero que no me acaban de.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is super cute!

There is no quest log, but most of the quests are available for completion in the current location. I only had to backtrack for the letters and some outfits.

I really liked the robot <spoiler>dog</spoiler> boss, and the bonewights and their story. There are a lot of cute outfits/skins for Yono, including a Link outfit! The lore is good too, and I enjoyed reading it. This game isn't difficult, and that is not a complaint! Not all games need to be frustratingly hard. This game is enjoyable and fun!

Recommended for animal lovers, especially if you like elephants, Zelda, and puzzles.

While at first, it might seem like a simple, shallow game - it is not.
Though it never looses its jankyness in graphics and controls, which can be mildly frustrating, it more than makes up for it in world building and in some legitimately thought provoking concepts (the origin of Sundergarden; musings about war and peace; challenging notions about power, control and freedom).

It doesn't cover everything equally and some plot points come across as very abrupt, but all in all, a very enjoyable game.

O game nos apresenta 3 raças, na qual Yono precisa lidar com seus interesses e crescer a crença deles em si; são elas : Humanos, Bonewights e mortos vivos.

O game peca em ter uma história linear, não podemos alterar eventos ou assumir mais dores de um lado ou de outro.

Sadly I can not recommend this game, at least for Keyboard players. The controls are frustrating and a bit jank and it just ruins any fun the game can bring. The game might be a lot of fun if used with a controller, but I do not have one to test this theory. Maybe someday I'll revisit the game with a controller.

Simple. Cute. Shockingly, most of the gameplay is sokobon-style block pushing, which I didn't expect.

Yono has a surprisingly large amount to say about its world philosophies, which I was not expecting, and as a result, it definitely had that auteur feeling, of touching some art that was created by someone with an intention.

That said, aside from the random philosophy exposition dumps, the gameplay feels like it was made for children, so I can't really rate it higher than being inoffensive. As a novel world to explore with some fun ideas, I'd say it's worth the few hours it takes to play through, but isn't anything worth seeking out.

I had fun with this, it reminded me of older adventure games. The puzzles aren't mind-bending, but are actually better than what gets shoehorned into modern-day AAA slop and it doesn't hold your hand the whole way through. Combat could have used some more work. There is no technique here, just charge, back up, charge, repeat. Enemies take a while to attack so getting hit shouldn't be an issue. The boss fights were pretty fun, the game looks nice and the music was pleasant. Best part is the game didn't overstay it's welcome.

Um baita joguinho super divertido. Inicialmente parece só um joguinho bobo de 2 horinhas, mas o jogo é realmente bem feitinho em vários aspectos e ao mesmo tempo amadores em outros. Por exemplo, a coisa que mais incomoda no jogo é os sons, que parecem free stock e um pouco estranhos, além de as vezes as hitboxes darem um probleminha. Porém, esses problemas definitivamente não atrapalham os pontos positivos do jogo, o visual é super bonitinho, as músicas super divertidas de ouvir e a melhor parte do jogo, os puzzles e as mecânicas. Foram 6 horas de gameplay e não senti nenhuma parte sendo repetitiva, cada "fase/mundo" tem sua própria mecânica que é bem exploradinha e os puzzles vão sempre sendo criativos de alguma forma sem repetirem. Em geral, um joguinho super divertido que vale a pena pra alegrar a vida.

Occasionally great, often mundane, and occasionally terrible. Solve box puzzles, smash fantasy creatures with your tusks, and have long, mildly philosophical conversations about robot suffrage (real example). Although I have pretty mixed feelings about it overall, it might be more suitable for a younger audience who are not as familiar with all of the box puzzle tropes.

The Sokoban side of the game: fairly standard box pushing, with a lot of the typical enhancements, like ice blocks that slide or can be melted, and a lot of switches. Occasionally, the puzzles made me feel clever, but more often they were fairly easy, where you did the obvious thing to the obvious object and then magically were allowed to progress to the next room. Occasionally, however, they were infuriating, where there was no clear thing to interact with or any reason to do something. And then you notice, "Oh, hey, there’s a balloon over there. I bet I need to pop it." Magically, a gate opens (real example).

Some of the puzzles have significant timing aspects that greatly increased the difficulty and/or frustration level. Mostly, however, I felt like this just added some much-needed variety to the puzzle solving.

The Zelda side of the game: You split your time between cities, which have zero combat, and overworld/dungeons, where there are very tedious battles between various bits of puzzle solving. You fight your enemies by ramming into them. In a shocking display of poor controls, the game auto-aims you at the nearest opponent when you hit the “ram” button. This means that if you have one enemy it’s trivially easy to just smash them to bits. But when you have multiple enemies, it’s extremely challenging to hit the one you want without exposing yourself to being smashed by the others. There’s nothing good to say about the combat.

There is also a lot of time spent talking to people and/or doing fetch quests inside the cities. Occasionally, these are funny, interesting, or even philosophical. But often they just felt like padding.

While I do feel like this was maybe intended for kids, the storyline is a bit darker than you might commonly expect for that target audience. Nothing I would feel bad about sharing with my 10-year-old, but that’s me. Death, free will, and robot slavery make up some of the more interesting bits of the story. But it feels very uneven, and the ending is especially sloppily written.

While I have a lot of negative things to say about the different aspects of the game in isolation, in combination it somehow managed to be decently fun, if often quite frustrating because of the flaws. I would definitely only recommend this to people who have a tolerance for imperfection or who really love this kind of Zelda-esque puzzle-solving genre. For instance, if you liked the Ittle Dew series, this feels a bit similar, but not nearly as polished.

Though a bit rough around the edges when it comes to the controls, Yono and the Celestial Elephants is a surprisingly rich and packed experience.

Do not let the extremely cute graphics, silly and playful music, and quippy, lighthearted dialogue fool you -- this isometric-3d story-driven puzzler has a fulfilling story, and a Message to tell its audience.

This game definitely has appeal for many different age groups; the puzzles are not really challenging for a 20-something such as myself, and are definitely catered toward a younger player demografic, they still offered a variety of ideas, and surprising combinations thereof, which had me occupied, and satisfied upon completion. Most of all, the gameplay is just relaxing, one can't but smile looking at the tiny chubby elephant picking up turtoises or keys and flinging them across the room, flushing fire with the water from its trunk, pushing a box with its head. It's silly and calming.

What definitely had me hooked, though, is the amount of world-building, and moreso tackling philosophical, and socio-political commentary told through many of the game's plentiful characters. I admire that the authors are clearly principled, and have an actual message to tell.

The game is at points pretty clunky, and features a barebones combat system, that seems more like a palette cleanser, or an excuse for variety, and is clearly not the game's focus. None of this made the game unplayable, or even frustrating for me, though, so, Yono is definitely a game I'd recommend.

Бывают игры, в которых визуал может ввести в заблуждение, пытаясь скрыть проблемы во всех остальных аспектах произведения. И да, это не тот случай, когда за умопомрачительной графикой скрывается непроработанность всего остального. Тут хуже: за, казалось бы, милой детской игрой (мне правда нравится стиль графики в игре) скрывается гниль, которая, в лучшем случае, никому ничего полезного или приятного не даст и просто останется незамеченной, либо же закинет всякую дрянь в разум игрока.
Но сначала не об этом, а о "мелочи". Геймплей очень однообразен. В игре зачем-то есть боёвка, хотя её мало и это буквально "нажмите А три раза, чтобы победить", как отвлечение от основной части геймплея — головоломок — это не работает. Головоломки не могут претендовать на реальный интерес взрослого игрока. На интерес ребёнка — могут, но тут возникает вопрос, а стоит ли такую "сказку" давать ребёнку.
Люди поклоняются слонам, те приходят к людям из другого мира раз в тысячу лет. В прошлый раз какой-то слон превратил часть людей в нежить, даровав бессмертие, и хотя эти зомби не агрессивны, у них жуткая внешность, а диалоги раскрывают, что, разумеется, их чувства и восприятие жизни сильно исказились, им уже чуждо почти всё человеческое, но это, внезапно, никакого конфликта не создаёт и вообще никого не волнует. Зато разработчика очень волнуют либеральные ценности, ведь вместе с людьми и зомби сосуществуют роботы, которые всё никак не могут разобраться, как им выстраивать отношения с людьми, зато в своём городе выстроили механизм для демократических процедур. Пространство для хоть какого-то размышления о реальных явлениях и проблемах (что вообще-то свойственно в том числе и детским сказкам) занимает тупая прямолинейная пропаганда: вот вам безудержная толерантность, вот один из персонажей рассказывает про ЛГБТ-отношения, вот полноценная демократия у прогрессивных роботов, а вот кстати королева людей в конце игры свихнулась от власти, потому что... Да якобы просто потому что она королева, а значит тиран и вредитель по определению. Серьёзно, игра наваливает шаблонные пропагандистские образы, ничего не объясняет и не наполняет смыслом, и вокруг этого пытается строиться некое подобие сюжета. А какова история главного героя? Йоно, очередной слон, пришедший в мир людей. Добрый, хочет всем помогать. И парочку проблем уровнем несколько сложнее, чем поливка цветов, он всё же решает. Но ничего такого, что делало бы его впечатляющим главным героем даже небольшой истории. И вот в конце, когда происходит то, что здесь выдаётся за завершение сюжета, открывается портал в мир слонов, где один из дальних предков говорит Йоно: "ну, ты ещё маленький, когда-нибудь сделаешь что-нибудь весомое, но это будет другая история". Титры.
Игры не обязаны быть идеологически нейтральными. Не обязательно должен быть сложный сюжет или детально проработанные персонажи. Проблемы с геймплеем — простительны. Но превращение игры в низкопробную политическую агитку уже вызывает отторжение, а тут это ещё и подаётся максимально тупо и безапелляционно, видимо рассчитывая на неискушённость игрока. Это просто низко.
И длится это 4-5 часов, но разработчик решил добавить столько коллекционных карточек, что мне пришлось ещё 3 часа держать игру запущенной, чтобы все выпали.

I got this game after seeing it at GDQ. I did not refund it, just because of how cute it looks and I assume someone put a lots of effort in it. That being said, this effort was not enough to create a smooth gameplay experience.

I'm torn on this game. Of course the game looks cute and I didn't find it difficult myself, but it's not totally exciting either. It's family friendly if the child doesn't have to play, because the game would be too difficult for that.
I didn't finish the game because it didn't appeal to me completely, but if you like games like this, you should wait for a sale and treat yourself to the game.

Might change opinion about the game later, but the first impression is not good. The first level has you navigating narrow bridges, literally from the start, and you die if you fall in water. There are no options to turn on invisible walls or any other accessibility features. For a small child (who I presume is the target demographic of a game about a cute little elephant going on an adventure), who is not yet that precise with the controls, this is insurmountable obstacle. They go forward a bit, try to turn a corner, fall in water and have to start from the beginning. Repeat until no one is having fun.

Bugged. Can't beat without restarting or editing save file outside of game:
A couple areas into Wooly Mountain, there's a sliding block ice puzzle to get at a chest. There was absolutely no indication that the hole the ice block needed to go in was two blocks deep, meaning the ice cube without the chest on it should have been pushed in first. So now I have a chest that's one square too low to open, and the puzzle isn't resetting upon leaving the area (like some puzzles do and some puzzle partially do inconsistently throughout the game). So now I can't beat the game unless I redo everything or, as a couple people on the internet have posted, go into, like, the code of my save file and alter the state of the chest to be open in order to get the key from it...

The game already had a bunch of issues:
- No run button
- No dodge/shield button
- Weird invisible bubble of a hit box around the enemy or something that means getting too close to an enemy results in a miss
- Really slow attack (which combined with the previous three makes for a terrible combat system)
- It's easy to accidentally toss something somewhere that the elephant can't reach. If it's a quest item... have to leave the area and backtrack to wherever it was first picked up. (and again, there's no running)
- Also, every time I enter a new area, the joystick input from the previous area is still in effect, so I've walked off many, many cliffs.

The music was okay, but started to get repetitive.

It was a cute idea but needs more work.

Juego corto, pero interesante. Te pone en situaciones curiosas a la hora de resolver los puzzles, aunque en un principio tienes todo a la mano para resolverlos no les resta mérito alguno. En cuanto a la historia puedo decir que al menos está bien, no tanto para dejarte asombrado, pero cumple con el propósito de saber que tienes un objetivo que cumplir (me lleve la sorpresa de algunos plot twist).
En cuanto a fallos como bugs, errores gráficos o crasheos, solo puedo decir que fueron pocos a la hora de jugar con las físicas de empuje, pero no es tan grave como para perjudicar la experiencia.

En conclusión, es un juego dominguero que te hará pasar un buen rato entretenido y si gustas hablar con todos los npc para hacer misiones, pues aumentará tu tiempo de juego un poco. Pesé a que lo único que ofrecen son piezas de (corazón tipo zelda) engranajes para aumentar tu vida. También la banda sonora del juego es muy buena y no sentí que la experiencia del juego fuese monótona en lo absoluto. ¡No se duerman con este juego!

I really enjoyed playing this game. It has a very cute art style and pretty good puzzles. The story and dialogue surprised me in a good way. Soundtrack was also very well done. I really loved the silly elephant costumes. You can tell there was a lot of love put into Yono. Overall it was a good experience.

My only cons for the game was that it left me rather confused about the intended age range. Dialogue would use terms that would most likely not be understood by young children, but at the same time the combat would be simple to the point of only requiring the "slam attack", never incorporating the other mechanics (water, peppers, peanuts) aside from the final fight. Still, as an adult looking for a lighthearted game this wasn't much of an issue.

Dieses Spiel ist eine Offenbarung für geschundende Soulsherzen, enttäuschte Lootjäger und kurz vor dem Burnout stehende Grinder. Das Spiel ist ein Urlaub für die Seele. Es ist zu keiner Zeit schwer. Aber der Sog mit dem das Spiel einen hält ist riesig. Die Erkundung der Welt und ihrer Bewohner fühlen sich nie wie eine Aufgabe an sondern wie ein bunter Strauß an Vielfalt und Persönlcihkeit.

Jedes Triple-A Titel sollte sich da ne Scheibe abschneiden. Abwechslungsreiche Mechaniken und pfiffiges Leveldesign.

UND SKINS. Weils ich mein SKINS. Wer wollte nicht immer schon ein Link-Elephant sein.

A little gem of a game I got in a mystery bundle. I'm a fan of the cute art style and it had some interesting puzzle mechanics. The story wasn't bad too. I quite enjoyed choosing a skin for my elephant. I would definitely recommend as something to kill a few hours.

It's short and very cute. The boss fights aren't explained at all, and require trial and error, but death isn't permanent and there are ways to defeat each one.

I'm playing through this game with my four year old, and so far it's a great level for him, with combat challenging but manageable and him also being able to contribute to solving puzzles. He's really enjoying it so I'd say on sale this is a steal if you have young kids.

I previously gave this game a negative review as the controller wasn't working, but switching to the Steam controller input rather than native has fixed the issue.

Wirklich schön. Erstmal ist es ein Rätselspiel, aber es kann noch so viel mehr. Es bietet eine überraschend tiefgreifende Story, in der es z.B. um politische Konflikte und Diskriminierung geht - alles verpackt in das niedliche Setup des kugelrunden, bunten Elefanten und seiner Welt. Dazu gibt es noch viele viele Seiten an historischen Schriften, die wir zusammmensetzen können und die die Geschichten der früheren Elefanten auf dieser Welt berichten.
Leider leider leider gibt es weder Ingame-Achievements noch Steam-Achievements, die hätten das Ganze noch etwas belohnender gestaltet.

A lot of little annoyances in this game made me meh about it and I walked away after dungeon 2 (of 3 I think).

The controls are a bit wonky; sometimes the headbutt doesn’t work, sometimes it works too much and overshoots you to your death; sometimes the trunk action is hard to aim. There is one rock type you can destroy with headbutts, one rock type you can destroy with dynamite, a crate and an ice block you can push; but there are several objects you can’t do anything with even though they seem to be the same size/mass/whatever. (Remember, you’re an elephant.) All of the NPCs have something to say, and some of them have a lot to say and you need to click through several dialog bubbles to get it all; if you click on the NPC again they might have additional dialog or they might start repeating, you never know which and always need to click one more time to check. There are quests but no quest log.

The puzzles are easy to solve. The story tries to be epic but winds up being thin. I did like the art design and the soundtrack. If you are more patient, you might have a pleasant time with the game, but I had to move on to other things.

Wonderful and relaxing. Puzzles can get frustrating at times due to camera positioning and control sensitivity.
Occasionally, you'll be unable to see an exit because of the fixed camera.
[The design is nice during the main story, but navigating narrow paths becomes "time-consuming"]

I enjoyed the world and the story. Wish there were more "unlocks" with the storytelling concept.

If you liked "A Short Hike" or "Alba" you'll enjoy this.

This game is so cute it might give me a toothache. On the one hand it seems to be made for kids, on the other there are some very adult themes in there having to do with death and politics. On the whole, I have to say I enjoyed it. Most of the puzzles are well-designed and mechanics are introduced at a nice pace. The graphics are cute and the setting and story are pretty novel.

The game is let down by the controls and sometimes a lack of overview because of the zoomed in camera. The hitpoints are a bit unnecessary and get in the way of playing the game more than adding a challenge. Having to return to the start of a level when you die (even though the level is not reset) so that you just have to find your way to the point where you died is a bit tedious.

The controls aren't the greatest, positioning the massive elephant correctly can be tedious, and the hit boxes can behave strangely. If you're prepared to overlook those shortcomings - this offers a delightful adventure/puzzler with a lot of different mechanics. Nice game to play with a kiddo.
