Uncanny Valley is a survival horror game that includes a mix of exploration, puzzle solving and a bit of action with a lot of optional story content. We're trying to preserve the old survival horror kind of gameplay instead of following the modern trend of creating a third person shooter with horror elements.

This is from the pixeljank boom, and it *really* feels it. Slow pace. Absent UI. There's like four different interact buttons depending on circumstance (space, E, enter, up) but there's no indicator on which you should use or when something is interactive. Using the inventory feels like tooth extraction. Environments are big and empty and you have the stamina bar of an asthmatic gerbil.
The rough thing is, I think this would work with a point and click adventure interface. Truncate the rooms, make the interaction points clear, make the inventory useable. The atmosphere, sound, and pixel art aren't bad. It's just interacting with the game feels terrible, unrewarding, and time-wasting.
For a game from a similar era that lands Silent Hill in a more playable way, try Lone Survivor. Or play any of the modern SHlikes.
To enjoy Uncanny Valley, I think you have to be really determined to enjoy Uncanny Valley. I struggled to get into it, and then all my interactions bugged out, and again the game *does not* like telling you what you're intended to be able to do. I don't mind having supported the developer but I don't think this one's for me.
One of the most boring games I've played in my entire life... I tried to give it a chance twice, but no, this is simply unbearable.

Uncanny valley its a great game. honestly, it is one of the best indie games i hv ever played. The story , graphics, constant feeling of fear,mystery and being stalked make this game unique.

Uncanny Valley is a dark, story-focused horror game where you play a night guard working in a strange, isolated facility that clearly isn’t as abandoned as it first seems. Things start small and unsettling, then slowly spiral into something much more disturbing.
What really works is the atmosphere and the way your choices matter. The game constantly makes you feel uneasy, and the retro visuals and sound design add to that tension without relying on cheap jump scares. It’s the kind of horror that gets under your skin and makes you curious to replay it just to see how different decisions change the outcome.
This game tries to hard to be scary... and fails miserably.
There's a great idea buried here, under some not great design choices. A game involving multiple playthroughs, with lots of choices under strict time limits revealing pieces of a story bit by bit is great on paper, but when the actual gameplay itself isn't any more compelling than going left and right in the exact same hallways and forest paths it gets old fast. The atmosphere dissipates, and you find yourself just running as much as possible to trigger something happening without much thought to immersing yourself in the story.
It's too bad, cause when the atmosphere and story hits it's great and effective - but it fades so fast when you're just slowly checking empty floors and rooms because you didn't know where something is happening. It's hard to feel engaged when the game's answer to above is "oh well, guess you gotta play this now useless run out and start all over and try somewhere different next time"

It's just a bad game, I'm sorry. Even when ignoring all the (many) bugs. The storry is simplistic, you can get stuck in rooms with no option other than reset, the controls are just terrible.
I'll see what I can get from hunting achievements, but after multiple playthroughs I can't recommend this, even for free.
Uncanny Valley is a weird, creepy little game that really gets under your skin. The atmosphere is super tense — quiet hallways, strange sounds, and that constant feeling like something’s watching you.
What makes it stand out is how much your choices matter. Messing up even small things can lead to really bad endings, so you’re always on edge.
The story’s dark and confusing in a good way — full of androids, mind experiments, and mystery — and it never fully explains itself, which keeps you thinking.
And the old-school pixel graphics just make it feel even more disturbing, because your mind fills in the blanks.
Ominous little game, might be hard to get all the endings without a guide.
Uncanny Valley convinced me from the first moment.
It somehow reminds me a lot of Silent Hill.
We play a man named Tom who is plagued by nightmares and is looking for a job as a night watchman in the middle of nowhere to pass the nights with work.
Every decision has a consequence, there is no possibility to save yourself, which creates a new feel and the game has a high replay value.

Я узнал об этой игре из обзора зарубежного блогера Росса Скотта (Ross Scott) c канала Accursed Farms. Ему эта игра не сильно понравилась, а вот меня она почему-то зацепила. Но понравилась ли она мне? И вот тут немного сложно ответить. [spoiler](Хотя если посмотреть на цвет обзора, то уже можно догадаться)[/spoiler] Поэтому будем разбираться по ходу дела и раз уж я упомянул обзор Росса, то на него я и буду опираться разбирая эту игру.
[h1]Графика[/h1]
Начнём с хорошего, то, в чём я с Россом полностью согласен. Пиксель-арт в этой игре выглядит потрясающе. Локаций здесь немного, но зато каждая выполнена с высочайшим вниманием к деталям.
[h1]Концепция[/h1]
У игры довольно интересная концепция. Нам предлагают побывать в шкуре ночного сторожа в огромном здании-комплексе. И здесь наши мнения немного расходятся. Росс утверждает, что концепцию охранника в этой игре ломает её абсолютно нереалистичный таймер на 7 минут, в течении которого проходит одна смена [spoiler](всего их 5)[/spoiler] нашего ГГ. И поначалу это действительно так, ведь при чтении писем с компьютеров (коих здесь очень много) и прослушивании аудиозаписей время не останавливается и поначалу действительно кажется, что время буквально летит. Однако игра рассчитана на многократное прохождение и поэтому с каждым новым прохождением эти 7 минут становятся куда более продолжительней. Я, например решил повыбивать все достижения, большинство из которых рассчитаны на разные концовки, и лично для меня эти 7 минут в какой-то момент превратились в настоящую пытку. Это особенно забавно, ведь в своём обзоре Росс рассказывает, что за свою жизнь он тоже успел побывать настоящим охранником и это оказывается пипец как скучно, а время на этой работе течёт очень медленно. И поверьте мне, в один прекрасный момент эта игра начинает создавать именно такое ощущение. Но я соглашусь что таймер на время чтения писем можно было бы отключить, так как это очень сильно мешает погружению в начале игры.

То, что я описал выше тоже относится к геймплею, но это лишь его часть. Позже в игре (скорее всего в прохождении третьем-четвертом) вы поймете, как можно продвинуться по сюжету иначе и вот тут начинается сурвайвл-хоррор. Я не хочу ругать эту составляющую, просто потому - что она работает. Не идеально, но всё же работает. В игре, например, есть пистолет, но после того, как я понял, что противников можно избегать - игра стала для меня в сотню раз легче, а про пистолет я и вовсе забыл. Загадки в игре есть и они не сложные. Единственная проблема иногда - это поиск предметов, потому что не всегда очевидно где и что искать. Но учитывая бюджет этой игры (о чем попозже) я готов простить эти мелочи.
[h1]Сюжет[/h1]
Лучшее что есть в игре, а вернее его подача. Пройдя игру в первый раз у Росса был только один вопрос: ЧТО? И я оказался абсолютно в такой же ситуации. Если вы пройдёте игру один раз и при этом вы вообще ничего не поймёте, не пугайтесь - это нормально. Запускайте игру по новой, и я вас уверяю со временем собирая кусочек по кусочку вы во всём разберётесь. Однако здесь есть и ложка дёгтя. Собрав сюжет в общую картину, в нём начинает чувствуется бюджет этой игры, а вернее его отсутствие. Игра в своё время была профинансирована через краудфандинг, но только на 18%. Из-за чего, как мне кажется, в игре полным-полно сюжетных дыр и есть много недосказанности. Я, как и Росс, хотел бы увидеть улучшенную-режиссёрскую версию этой игры, где можно было бы получить ответы на все вопросы. В таком же виде сюжет просто неплох, но не более.

Второй аспект игры, который у нас обоих не вызывает претензий. Музыка атмосферная до мурашек, что очень сильно способствует погружению.

Если вам по душе атмосфера полного одиночества в огромном [spoiler]почти[/spoiler] пустом здании посреди большого ничего, то эта игра вас порадует. Думаю, фанатам фильма "Сияния" эта атмосфера особенно придётся по вкусу.
[h1]Что не понравилось: [/h1]
[u]На аудиозаписи нет субтитров[/u] – людям, у которых проблемы с английским языком будет тяжеловато понять местный сюжет, ведь в них скрыта его важная часть.
[u]Плохо читабельный текст[/u] – проблема как в версии с русским переводом, так и в оригинале. Как сказал Росс: "Четыре пикселя для одной буквы – это очень мало".
[u]Рутина в начале каждого прохождения[/u] – первые 2-3 прохождения это не вызывает проблем, но со временем, первые 10-15 мин прохождения вам придется буквально терпеть, ведь скипнуть их никак нельзя.
[h1]Итог[/h1]
Поначалу игра очень недружелюбна к игроку в плане объяснений чего-либо, но если быть к ней чуточку снисходительней, то со временем, когда в ней разобраться, она может даже понравиться. Однако, я всё же должен признать какой огромный потенциал здесь был упущен. Но не будем расстраиваться, я, как и Росс, рад что эта игра вообще существует даже в таком виде и мне ничуть не жаль времени, которое я на неё потратил.

Comprei esse game por conta da temática de terror e o jogo realmente entrega uma atmosfera bem sombria, mas que jogo confuso. O game tem alguns finais possíveis, sendo em sua maioria ruins, mas nem de longe é nítido como chegar neles. A arte é muito bonita e fiquei surpresa de ver um jogo de pixel art entregar um clima de terror convincente. Porém, não temos tempo de explorar o ambiente sem que coisas ruins aconteçam, sendo que o jogo é basicamente de exploração. Não temos respostas para várias questões e algumas coisas simplesmente acontecem sem você entender o porquê. A interface é confusa o que deixa o jogo meio truncado em algumas partes. A Steam poderia ter 3 tipos de avaliação: recomendo, não recomendo ou neutra. Na falta dessa terceira opção recomendo o jogo, mas nem de longe vale o preço cheio. Tem uma boa premissa, porém achei mal executada. Seria um 5/10. Não é bom nem ruim. Vale pelo clima e gráficos, mas jogue sem expectativas.
A game which is pretty competently made and with a branching story that can add a lot of replay value if you like it... but I didn't.
The game is very slow with a lot of walking back and forth through areas that don't serve any purpose except padding the time it takes to walk between places.
The controls are also overly complicated, often using multiple buttons where in other games one would have sufficed as a universal action button instead.

I wish I could give this a neutral or the flat hand going "eeehh" because that's where my feelings really are.
Unfortunately, I can't [i]really[/i] give this a proper recommendation or yes/thumbs up because of the various little bugs and glitches that drag it down, and that's before we get to the game's content. I had to restart (or at least reload) multiple times because of random little hiccups that would pop up sporadically. Some, or perhaps all, of the problems appear to stem from how the game handles flags and events.
When you "beat" the game and get an ending, even if it's a bad one, the credits will roll and you'll be back on the title screen. If you try to click Continue you will be told there is no save file - that's right, it [b]deletes[/b] the save upon completing the game. Brilliant! Except that if you go straight into a New Game you will realize that things you've done may still be there. A spoiler free example is Buck's car keys, which I still had on me even as I followed him into the building.
The gameplay itself is a mixed bag. Tom walks very slowly, he can't run and hold the flashlight at the same time, either. Who does that?! You can't even run for very long cause the developer was afraid the rooms would be passed too quickly. Except you need to be quick cause the game gives you a scant 7 minutes every shift to explore the facility and there's computers with emails to read and little cassette tapes to find scattered about. They contain the brunt of the story, which is nearly nonexistent otherwise, and it's easy to run out of time if you're not paying attention.
The consequences of time running out? You fall asleep where you are. Any issues with that? Nope! In fact, one achievement [i]relies[/i] on you never actually going to your bed. For all the developer's talk of this being different, trying to eliminate frustration, and there being consequences for actions.. there's surprisingly very little in the way of any of those.
You can only auto-save, so if you screw up it'll helpfully prevent you from redoing that section. There's no handy chapter select. While the game is hardly "long" the first half is very slow and tedious, especially if you're just trying to get back to the second half for a different ending.
The pixel work is wonderful and creepy, I love it. However, the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. There's also some unanswered questions and loose ends that the game never ties up. In a nutshell, if you wanna try it make sure to get it on a deep sale cause I seriously cannot recommend this at full price. It's an interesting experience but one that really needed more polish.

Uncanny Valley is a passable game.
It does suffer from repetitiveness, is unnecessarily cryptic at times and a number bugs/quirks makes Uncanny Valley difficult to play through. The graphics and the themes presented were fantastic, yet let down by the aforementioned.
Buy on sale but understand you may have a frustrating experience.
I wanted to like this game.
Through tedium, poor pacing, bad controls, and the obtuse ui; it did not let me.
The overall flow of the game and story was disconnected, confusing, and outright buggy in some cases. I only completed this specifically because it would bother me if I didn't, and I wanted to be sure I wasn't wrong before I roasted this game in a review to help others not waste their time and money.
A little bit more polish and bug fixing would have gone a long way, however the story is still pretty mundane and wasn't worth the effort or time to discover.

The mystery was working until I had to spend so much time running out of breath and backtracking all over the place. I felt like this game was intriguing, just not enough to overcome the pacing. The text also bugged out consistently, even in the opening scene. Definitely started things off on the wrong foot.

Просыпаешься, одеваешься, долго и нудно ковыляешь до работы и, не успев начать, Том сообщает, что устал, его смена закончена и садится на пол спать (!). При этом, проснувшись, можно снова завалиться спать и игра многозначительно засчитает день. Хоррор - это саспенс. Какой может быть саспенс когда игрок вынужден ломиться как угорелый сквозь кусты, стараясь урвать чуть больше игрового времени? Авторы не понимают базовых моментов игропроизводства. Атмосфера есть - да, но игры нет. Шлак.
I'm still playing through all the endings but I do have to say that this game lacks polish.
I've encountered numerous bugs throughout the game.
The transitions between scenes are so abrupt I'm left wondering what the heck just happened.
With a little Q/A and polish this game could be pretty good.
Всё бы ничего, еслиб не навязывание игроку концепции прохождения игры по сто раз с последующим удалением сохранений в случае гибили ГГ. В целом история весьма любопытная и ее название почти целиком соответствует содержимому этой истории, поэтому игра скорее тянет на рекомендуемую, чем НЕТ.

Dark game..
Thought I would like this game, however bug after bug has caused me to call it short. Had multiple times where text wouldn't vanish and would overlap over each other making it impossible to read. To accidentally closed the game from one of the menus because the menu just said exit which I thought meant close the menu.. not the whole game. The game didn't even ask if you are sure you want to exit the game. Maybe the story and game play are good but I never got far enough to tell because I got to annoyed with bugs and bad UI. I used Keyboard and mouse and from reading other reviews it seems like Controller isn't much better.
The art style is great and the mechanics are interesting, but the game is just way too buggy and broken to give it a good review. You cant change the controls and the controls are awful. Especially for controller. I could not beat it, not because the game is hard, but because the game is so buggy and broken.
I reviewed the wonderfully f-ed up soundtrack to this game quite a ways back, and thought I should finally check out the game itself!
Like Lone Survivor and Home before it, this is a story-oriented horror game that is heavily influenced by the likes of Silent Hill, but chooses to present itself in a more "retro" 2D side-scrolling style with heavy pixelation. How effective is this decision?
Well, I have to say that while I felt this visual aesthetic somehow "worked" for those other games, it did seem a tad ineffectual here. Quite what it "added" I'm not sure...but it certainly wasn't overly off-putting, especially since I didn't grow up in an era of super-spiffy graphics like these young'uns nowadays ("back in myyyyyyy day")...
Then there's the odd control scheme. It's mostly fine, but for some reason it: a. uses "E" to interact with things like doors, but then you need to press Space to pick up items (that aren't even clearly highlighted in any useful fashion), and b. only uses the mouse upon rare occasion (making you wonder why it's ever used at all)! Your security guard character also gets puffed from running after mere seconds, suggesting he should probably look for a different line of work...
The story itself is kind of confusing, to say the least (perhaps that was the point; search me)! What starts as very linear quickly becomes anything but, and performing even a simple task such as following some seemingly straightforward directions on a note becomes a challenge. On "Day One" I was supposed to meet with someone, failed to follow her instructions, then quickly got the on-screen hint that my shift was over and I should probably get some sleep. I ignored this latter directive, figuring I should still finish my listed "objective" (i.e. find the girl)...then suddenly [i]collapsed and fell asleep[/i] in the middle of whatever room I was exploring at the time! Uncanny indeed...
(EDIT: Checking a video walkthrough later revealed that she was in a completely different building to myself, something I didn't suss thanks to the inability to re-read notes after the fact. A [i]map[/i] mightn't have hurt, either!)
You also pick up objects without having any idea why - okay, so maybe that's not so odd in a horror game! - but really: why did I steal the fire extinguisher from one of the rooms, when they might need it in case of a fire? Some nice security guard-ing there...
My flashlight also went off whenever I went through a door, or pressed the sprint button. I'm really not "getting" this game, I'm afraid...
On the second "Day" (night, really), I again failed to follow the simplest of instructions (literally "walk past the apartments to find a generator hut"). I gave up at this time, figuring I must've fallen into some alternate dimension full of game-breaking bugs; that, or I'm just too stoopid to get my head around the game's rather oddball approach to 2D design. (And the sheer, apparent aimlessness of the plot didn't exactly inspire me to continue, either.)
Now for some positives.
It's definitely eerie. The sound design - not just the aforementioned musical soundtrack, but pretty much everything else - is well-calculated to creep you out, no doubt about it. Some great spooky voice work included.
This game definitely doesn't "hold your hand". So I guess there's an audience for it [i]somewhere[/i] out there, possibly among you open-world loving folk who, er...are looking for a relatively short, side-scrolling, pixelated game in which your choices do, allegedly, matter. (Sadly, I need my characters to have clear [i]motivations[/i] to find a game compelling, and couldn't find any such things here.)
That's all I can say really, having played less than an hour in. As I say: I've beaten and enjoyed the likes of Lone Survivor and Home - and did I mention Claire? - and despite some certifiable challenges, found them all eminently completable. This game, I was simply floundering in frustration from almost the get-go. Give me a clear goal at all - or at least most - times, and I may very well enjoy your game. Leave me flailing without a clue, or give me instructions I can't readily follow (at least within the tight time limits given!), and I'll run out of tolerance fairly quickly.
The nightmare sequences were pretty effective, though. I'll give it that.
I'm not gonna thumb this down; I'm merely going to chalk it up as a game that simply "wasn't for me". Which is a shame, given the atmosphere is something I could definitely have dug, given the motivation to continue. Perhaps I'll give it another go some day, and change my opinion entirely...but for now, my patience is sadly spent.
Verdict: 5/10.

내용은 정체불명 검은 정장 한테 쫒기면서 미스터리 찾는 게임이다.
근데 아쉬운점이 있다면 스테미너가 얼마 있는지 모른다.
그리고 아이템도 찾기가 어렵다.

한국인 한테 언어 장벽이 있다.
유저한글패치 라도 해야 즐길수 있는게임이다.
그리고 내가 굿 누른이유는 3개만 수정하면 ( 길 찾기 힘듬 , 스테미너게이지 , 아이템 쉽게 찾을수 있게 )
해주면 좋은게임 일것 같아서 준것이다.

My first instinct was to call Uncanny Valley ‘short and sweet’, but the more I reminisce on the experience the less favorably I view it. It’s not entirely clichéd, but certainly is enough to not feel particularly fresh. The ‘short’ part of ‘short and sweet’ is maybe a bit excessively so. The game only takes maybe 1-2 hours to complete a run, so I was able to get most endings/achievements in 7-8 hours. Most of what you can do in the game is fairly inconsequential to the end result, though admittedly does add to the atmospheric side of the experience. The short length is due to the branching of the narrative leading to multiple endings, but the problem with a game like this is that a lot of the horror is gone by the second playthrough, and has even less bite on 3rd onward. Once you go through a second time and know exactly when where and how certain things are going to happen, it becomes more tedious as you trudge through what you already know to get to see another branch. In that sense I feel Uncanny Valley would have benefitted from a flexible manual save system, or perhaps a more rigid option to start from various parts of the game, once you reach them, so that you can start closer to the point where the plot will branch without having to do so much of the game over again. If you’re ok with not seeing most of the story branches, and not achieving most of the achievements, then it is an alright little horror experience the first time ‘round. But if you stick with it for the long run, you’ll find it probably could have used just a bit extra to keep it from getting stale.

This game is bugged beyond any hope of being playable.
After encountering numerous bugs that really have a pretty high impact on my enjoyment of the game, I'm going to go with 'no' I don't recommend this game. 10$ is way too high for this unfinished, unsatisfying, buggy game.
This game can be a little buggy from time to time, sure. Aside from the occasional technical hiccup, however, I think Uncanny Valley has a lot to offer in terms of story, atmosphere, and visual style.
A man with a troubled past is hired as a security guard for a defunct research facility, tasked with defending the grounds from random riff-raff until the building's owners can figure out what to do with everything. All appears relatively bland and boring on the job, until it isn't.
Gameplay primarily consists of collecting items to solve puzzles, and later incorporates some stealth and action elements. Hints at the main story's "big reveal" aren't immediately force-fed to you, and can easily be overlooked early on if you never get curious about what's on any of the computers while doing your rounds.
I think they do a terrific job of setting up an unnerving atmosphere, with both the visual style and with the sound design. Altogether, it presents a nice balance of unsettling tedium mixed with jarring and gruesome mayhem. I especially love some of the death animations.
Adding my contribution to the thumbs-up jar, because I think the pros far outweigh any minor bug-related cons that may or may not even occur. The vast majority of my runs have been incident-free, but I realize that won't necessarily speak for everyone's experience in the end, so feel free to chalk this bit up as a personal anecdote if need be.
Leider echt nicht gut, komplett durcheinander und nach 15 Minuten verliert sich das Game nach dem "okayen" Intro selbst und es wird nicht mehr besser.
Das Spiel besteht quasi nur aus Emails und Tonaufnahmen, die man aber nicht in Ruhe anhören/lesen kann, weil der Maincharakter anscheinend alle 5 Minuten an Ort und Stelle einschläft und den nächsten Tag triggered.
Als ich den ersten Gegner gesehen habe war das Game 2 Minuten später vorbei und ich hab absolut keine Ahnung was passiert ist, aber mir wurden alle Körperteile abgeschnitten und eine Frau sagte mir sie würde mich lieben - was irgendwas mit irgendwas hier zutun hat.. Keine Ahnung, aber das Game enttäuscht leider auf allen Ebenen, kein Horror, kein Gameplay, Atmosphäre fällt nach den ersten Minuten und 10€ für ~1h gameplay (yeah, es gibt mehrere Enden, theoretisch) ist auch hart

The good: The art syle is nice
The bad: Story is not great, I don't care for the protag or the side characters at all. The sound is eh, some things are way to loud in the mixing. This is suppose to be a repeat playthough game which I can tell because once you get a no return point you're screwed, no save reloads. This wasted my time I do not recommend.
This game is dumb so far. Maybe it will get better or scary later? So far this dude has narcolepsy and just falls asleep where ever. Who does this? And who in their right mind with this medical condition would go out in the middle of nowhere to work all by themselves. Really? Every time you fall asleep it is the same thing. super not scary shadow monsters running at you. The opening scene got me a little which set me up to get excited about the game. Almost an hour in and I am bored! My guy doesn't even take a shower or shave on the daily. And I guess he makes his own hours and just decides that his shift is over after checking just the first and 2nd floors.
I read the computers and listened to one of the tapes. It is ok writing I guess. as in Fallout 76 type writing. I want to know what happened there but not sure if I want to endure the gameplay to get there. I was supposed to meed Eve somewhere but I didn't write down the note and must have just threw it away because there is only objectives in the notepad not the where and whens that I need for the objective. So I have to ask myself if I even care about eve and I really don't. She went from your bothering me creep type attitude to hey want to get naked in the relaxation room. Seriously? I tried to find it but couldn't of course. But again I don't really care about the Eve character so far.
Poor writing mixed with bad game play and I am bored. I will maybe play some more to see if I can find something that is scary or at least interesting. I heard so much praise for this game it has to be somewhere in the game. But so far I am very disappointed.
Also what is the deal with not being able to run with a flashlight turned on? Want to give me an epileptic fit? And why does the dude turn off the light when entering a new area? This game has been out for so long why hasn't this stuff ever been fixed yet?
I really want to like this game but the first hour has been not good except for the first scene which turns out to be every dream scene thus far.
What's the point of this game? The are better DOS games out there.
Game got bugged and I wasn't able to get past the 2nd lower level
Never pay full price. Crashes all the time with game breaking bugs. Generator puzzle is very broken, I got yelled at for leaving after Tom (main character) said my shift was over, Tom is more out of shape than Buck, who definitely needs to special order XXXL clothing, and Eve lied about there being a first door on the left on the first 2nd floor of the apartment complex. Also as far as I can tell there's no way to sneak past enemies and I have no idea when or where I'm supposed to get a gun so in order to get past enemies, you literally need to let them attack you which causes you to become injured, unable to sprint, and become slower than them so they attack you multiple times before you can get away.
The non-linear fashion also makes the game frustrating, being unknowingly trapped in areas with enemies that you can't kill or get past without being seriously maimed. There's no warning for when you're about to walk into an area that's guaranteed to cause a bad ending. You literally need a walkthrough to play this game as it should be played. Also finished the game with a duffle bag of stuff I had no idea what to do with. Glass, a fire extinguisher, car keys, keycards, etc.
Stylized visuals and music is nice, and if not for the game being a buggy mess with poorly thought out gameplay mechanics, and lack of explanation it might be an interesting game.
It was ok. A little slow and boring and the controls are pretty clunky. I got it for $1. I'd have been upset if I'd payed full price. Also very short even with replays
Although the graphics and atmosphere are great, the glitches and the general controles (on Controller) ruin the rest. Apart from that the game does telegraph weirdly. For example I am still not sure if my gun does any damage (even after reading walkthrough which say it does) so I get killed by androids and that results in me having to play the opening again, where almost no game play happens because I already read all the emails. Apart from that the screenshots are misleading I thought I would play a lot more in the style of the basement laboratory instead I get yes your grace for 4 ingame days.
I don't reccomend it for the price of 10 bucks. I have played better RPG makers games for less.

Fun game, but I lost interest pretty quickly. More a subjective than an objective issue, though. At a 90% discount off $10 it's definitely worth it, but I wouldn't pay full price for this game.

y'a des trucs qui se passent quand on appuie sur des touches, un visuel et du son (plutôt pas mal d'ailleurs mais pas suffisant pour sauver les meubles), mais c'est chiant comme un truc chiant, incompréhensible, mal amené. En deux mots, pas sionant du tout.
L'abus de flashbacke et autres éllipses sans mises en situation est dangereux pour le fun.
Certes je n'ai pas joué longtemps, mais le jeu n'a pas fait grand chose pour me retenir.
Dans le genre, il y a bien mieux (Detention me vient à l'esprit).

It’s a rough game, which is a shame because it had some good ideas. I feel like it came close, but the ruthless six minute timer to scramble around trying to find information was just too tight, despite the fact that there isn’t really much to do, and it just stops working on the fifth night, leaving you with an invisible exhaustion timer that causes you to just pass out from staying up too late, which has no consequence except that you have to physically walk all the way back to the facility from your apartment where you wake up mysteriously. There is a fairly decent little indie horror story in the background about why your character took the job and what happened at the facility, but the facility story is very obvious (hint: there was obviously an accident involving the androids they obviously make there), and the personal story was told during dreams, but because of the supernatural weirdness I just overlooked what it was trying to tell me because I’ve seen so many indie horror things where they just throw shadowy ghosts and ghouls at you, I didn’t think I needed to look any deeper. In retrospect I can see what they were trying to do, it just didn’t work for me when I was playing it. I feel these devs could produce something pretty good in the future, maybe check back?

I mean it's marginally spooky, not the worst or the best I've played.
I mean no disrespect to anyone with a negative review here but Uncanny Valley still haunts me like a case of ghouls and food poisoning 2 years after I finished it. Heck, I should add that it took 2 years of me playing it on and off to finally finish the game and get some of the endings. My first experiences with it back in 2016 led to numerous crashes, glitches, slow-downs and the constant need for Tylenol Extra Strength that a friend and I gave up on it after a tentative and distressing 20 minutes.
Flash forward to some boredom, not finding anything in my Steam list getting me riled up and an anger at myself for not at least finishing once something I paid money for...Uncanny Valley sized me up and I glared right back at it. "Not this time," I said with a pixelated middle finger raised high. So in I went. It still wanted to be rugged and wooly but I found myself able to progress...without ever fighting once. Man, the combat in this was unworkable for me so I just ran from everything. Though the systems at play and interfaces are awkward, almost buggy in their execution, the surreal and dreary first half of the game actually drew me in a fair amount. The graphics and creepy sound are well-done. I enjoyed games like Lone Survivor and The Long Reach more but this was head and shoulders above Claire I felt; not just the presentation but the exploration and gameplay as well.
Sadly, when the game pulls the intensity card in its second half as much as I wanted to go right along for the ride...I just couldn't do it. It goes full Silent Hill which is fine but as a fair veteran of Silent Hill combat (yes, even Homecoming) I couldn't really seem to get anything ready in fair order to kill anything. The controls are working against you like mad, even breaking doors and finding your way awkward when the gameplay is in gentle dove mode but when stood toe-to-toe with Uncanny's creepy androids (very cool enemies, by the way), things just fall apart. It wasn't cumbersome, it just wouldn't work as it was supposed to.
I hate that there's not a neutral button because there is some value here and I liked the story a fair bit. Yet bad control, irritating and Giant Sloth speed inventory/interaction interfaces and weapons that make the board with a nail in it from SH 2 seem to have the impact of a mid-grade nuclear device completely ruined the endgame for me. There's definitely horror FAR down the ladder from this but Uncanny Valley is only worth exploring if you are willing to deal with some fairly mountainous caveats. I started in '16, finished in '18, I'm glad I did it but I'm not up for another helping.
Tiresome: the game. Wants you to play through multiple times but doesn't give you any motivation to play through even the first time. Most of my play time was spent walking to work. Maybe I don't get it; but I grew weary of waiting for something that I cared about to happen. Eventually I just didn't want to get it, just wanted to delete it--the videogame equivalent of walking out on a movie.
I have mixed feelings about this game.
Pros:
- The story
- Multiple endings
- Not being too long, so it's not much of a hassle to replay for the other endings
- The music, OMG the music
- The general atmosphere and art style
Cons:
- Riddled with bugs
- Short, and has a somewhat limited gameplay

I thought using a controller (PS4) would make it better, but the game just wants you to dislike it.
Especially you need to get used to the controller, you clicked on something or the wrong button acidently while you were trying to find objects in some spots or reading your talkings with someone else, it will be cut off if you are unlucky.
ex. You didnt get a warning when you go to bed again, like if you really wanted to sleep. (You want to go back to sleep? [YES/NO], something like this is missing in this game)
During the first days of the shift, i noticed you could turn on the computers and you can read alots, as soon as you are only halfway through of the floor. A note pops up that my shift is over. If I'm not leaving in a certain time i will be moved.
Pro's:
+ Dev wrote in the forum, he will think about how to deactivate the Timer and make the game more playable. If this is gonna happen i change my review probably too.

Starts well with a tense opening that was weird and interesting looking. Then meanders off into the land of boring. With some security guard plodding about way to much.
I'll sum up.
It could be better. It was interesting, but vague. I bought it for a buck and still wanted a refund. I didn't hate it. I love this style of game and I love survival-horror and this just didn't marry those two ideas well.
The main character's sleep disorder really ruined it for me, TBH.

*Spoiler Free Review*
As much as I wanted to enjoy Uncanny Valley, especially as someone who had been looking forward to it since the very beginning, ultimately I ended up finding more I disliked about the game than I liked. The other negative reviews largely mirror my issues with it, but I'll go over it again anyway to help drive it home that this game isn't worth your time.
Here's a quick rundown of what I liked:
- Choices. What you do (and don't do) leading up to the third night will impact how your game ends, netting you one of several endings. I wish more horror games had multiple endings like this one did.
- Story. You pick the story apart via bits and pieces of emails, dialogue, and tape cassettes which is something I enjoy in other games such as Resident Evil.
Here's what I didn't like:
- Controls. I have never, in my entire life, ever played a game with such a convoluted control scheme. It's not even consistent, either. I had to look up a guide because apparently instead of pressing E to interact with an item, I had to use ENTER instead. Enter ISN'T EVEN LISTED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. It's uncomfortable at best, and will soft-lock you at worst, it's the most egregious part of this game.
- Moon logic puzzles. If you want an ending other than what you'll probably end up with, you'll need a guide for some of the puzzles.
- Leg injuries. In Resident Evil, when you're injured, you have a visual indicator in the character's body language that the character is hurt and injured. Here, if you hurt your legs, you may as well quit and restart because you're literally too slow to avoid anything.
- Subsequent playthroughs. Some games get it right, this one does not. With what little, precious time I have left on this earth, I literally can't afford to play a game with multiple endings but no save slots to explore those endings on my own time. There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to have three save slots and save when I want to save.
- Bullets do literally nothing. There's no point to even having a gun if it doesn't do anything. At the very least, it should be able to stun enemies, but aside from a single instance in the entire game, it does literally, actually, nothing.
- The time limit is superficial. Its only purpose is to move things along at specific time intervals. In a game where finding clues and piecing things together is paramount to its ending, forcing you to stop what you're doing to spend idle time running back to your apartment and then walk all the way back is boring, and makes you forget what you were doing to begin with. I would have rather had the game automatically warp me back to my apartment after piecing together a set amount of clues.
- Stealth barely works. You'll try to hide from things, but it's a total crapshoot whether the things you're hiding from will see you or not.
- The exit button. No confirmation, no "Return to title screen", just straight exit. Click it once and your'e unceremoniously dumped to the desktop instantly. If you're at the tail end of a day and the game hasn't auto-saved yet, then you'll lose all of that progress. It's a mistake you make once, but a mistake I shouldn't have been given the chance to make at all.
- Other bugs and issues. Dialogue can break, doors can break, even the "cinematic" effects like title cards will shift around while you move. You can click your flashlight's button even during scenes where you probably shouldn't. Even the save icon isn't attached to your GUI, it's a part of the world that'll move around at the bottom of yours screen if you're moving. So many visual issues plague this game and really take me out of the experience.
- 30 fps. Come on.
Overall, if the game had save slots, a decent control scheme, bullets could stun enemies at the very least, and leg injuries weren't a guaranteed game over, I would have been able to enjoy the game much more. I would have even enjoyed it to the point where I could overlook some of the other issues. As it stands, though, it's just too frustrating to enjoy.
I hope at some point Cowardly Creations comes back and remakes this game somehow which fixes all of the issues I mentioned. At this point, it's unlikely, but I'd love to see a fully realized remake at some point. As it stands, you're better off watching a playthrough online and seeing all the endings than playing it for yourself.
A total mess and a complete disaster, my experience with this game was. If you want something short to play and different, give this a try. If you're an achievement completionist, I recommend to highly to avoid it.
I originally played this on PS4 which has a shorter trophy list than the achievement list on Steam, and a much more enjoyable one too. The Steam version, I couldn't even get to run correctly. My game was running in slow motion 85% of the time. Sometimes it went to normal speed, but mostly stayed slow which made moving around and waiting for text boxes to fill before I could skip them, absolute madness. The game has no settings to adjust at all, not even brightness so I was unable to fix a single thing.
Next, I played it with an Xbox One Controller since apparently it has controller support. For some bizarre reason unknown to mankind, when you Pause the game, pressing 'B' (which you would do in like any other game to exit the Pause Menu) will shut the entire game down, bringing you back to your Steam Library, WTF?! The amount of bloody times I pressed 'B' by mistake must be at least 15+ times! This meant I had to redo a ton of stuff when loading the game back up since it only saves at random times.
Now the real issue here, if you're a achievement completionist, is the ridiculous amount of endings you need to get! This means playing through the same slow introduction (or in my case super slow!) over and over and over just to get to the first point where a decision matters. There is no text skip, no skip scene, you just start from the whole beginning. And then, after an hour or two of a playthrough (for me at least), you may even get the wrong ending even though you did everything correctly! One achievement in particular is for finding a corpse in a freezer later in the game. I played up to this part around 4 times and no corpse was appearing. When I reached this point for a fifth time, I entered the room via a vent instead of the main door and the corpse finally appeared in there! What the hell...
Trying for my final ending, you need to get 'killed' by an enemy near the end of the game, only it won't really kill you as you'll wake up shortly after. This is required for my last ending. So I go through the whole game again for what felt like the 50th time, got to this part and the enemy won't even attack me. It follows me around like we're best buds. Further note, this same enemy you're meant to re-program so it does this in order for you to proceed. So because I did this in one of my last playthroughs, it made the enemy GLITCH and make it think I had already reprogrammed it for this playthrough. Fantastic. Since the game auto-saved the moment I entered this area, I'm screwed out of another playthrough. Amazing.
Deleting everything to do with this game next and then I'll try re-downloading and hope that if I waste another hour or two getting to that part, it'll actually work this time. Oh and did I mention, I already did this and got the wrong ending still? Yep, incredible!
So yeah, I've spent over 20 hours on a game I was expecting to spend 3-4 hours on because of this nonsense. If you want to play it and you're into achievements/trophies, get the console version. If you don't care about those then sure, pick it up when it's on sale. Seriously, what a joke this has been.
Interesting story but kind of a 2-bit walking simulator, which makes you do not want to replay the game. Also, if you make to one of the endings, you cannot load a previous save, you should start over. That's boring...

I didn't recommend it. Not because it's a bad game. It's an okay game.
Not because it's a psychological horror game. It's a pretty decent chiller, though I don't like the genre.
Not because of the dialogue. Though Buck's rude. Eve is okay. The gangsters are kind of cool. The MC is pretty good.
I don't like it because of some of the controls and the number of times I glitched the game.
Power out when you're in the security office? Glitch/Crash
Went to bed while dialogue appeared? Played as a different character who couldn't run, stuck in the dark. achievements locked out.
Tried to kill an android as per many walkthroughs. Glitched again.
It's infuriating to have pushed myself through one of these games to see how many game-breaking circumstances arose.

"Mixed" is a good Steam review description. Good art and great idea, but very poor execution. So many glitches, bugs, and bad programming ruin an otherwise great concept. Far too many bugs for me to recommend to anyone. It's like the artists all showed up but where was the programmer? Years after release this game is still awkward and full of bugs.
Gratuitously gory for no good reason and lacks polish. There were multiple rooms where the camera was stretched to show the entire area and I could see developer tools floating around. The story was very predictable as well.
A small game where the player is a security guard who has just moved to a new city, where he has some problems. The story that exists around the game can be a bit confusing, there are several endings depending on what the player does. Although I think this game is nothing special in my opinion.

To be blunt - development was shoddy. I try to play games either for 5-10 hours or until I make meaningful progress but with games I really lost my patience quick.
First playthrough, got stuck on day 4(?) because of a glitch that meant I could never reach a state of working (time left never started). I thought it was part of the game but after doing EVERYTHING I could in game, I realized it was softlocked. Let's try again.
Second playthrough, minor inconvenience that if I click interact with people, I started the same speech over and over again. And because the controls aren't the most intuitive, at least for most games I've played of this type, I accidentally quick pressed and slept over the 3rd night, and softlocked again with day 4.
Controller support exists but is just bad. So I was thinking it was a controller issue. Looked at the store and nope, other people have similar problems, and don't seem to mention controller.
Then the third playthough. Bear in mind, all I know because of soft locks is the following:

- Eve is a person in the game

With that in mind, taking the car back got me into a part of the story where I was just thinking WTF is all of this and why is Eve so prevalent in it. I feel like I should've completed a different ending before this to understand more context. So engagement on my part with the story was close to nill. And finding tutorials was a bit difficult, so I basically gave up.
Also bear in mind: this is all within 2hrs of playing the game. There might be more skeletons I haven't uncovered nor do I plan to. Only reason I had this game in the first place was because of it being part of a bundle (so technically did not get it for free), but would never buy this game standalone.

During 45 min of gameplay, I didn't see anything interesting. I was expecting some kind of horror game but at first it's walking simulation and I couldn't get through this part of the game.
It’s an alright game
Has a lot of endings
Story is pretty poorly paced
Still a bit of fun

Гра досить репетитивна, не дивлячись на всю її варіативність і чималу кількість закінчень.
Основна проблема в тому, що цих закнічнеь забагато, і врешті-решт перепроходити гру просто набридає.
Щодо атмосфери і сюжету - величенький плюс, який, однак, не перекриває вищезгадану проблему.
Критичних багів не виявлено, хоча з гри декілька разів за проходження викидало.

El juego es bastante rejugable, posee varios finales y hay variedad de caminos a seguir, la historia es simple, pero interesante.Sin embargo, puede terminar siendo frustrante, ya que pareciera que a veces el final que obtienes es aleatorio y no está claro que pasos hay que seguir para obtenerlo, por lo que completarlo 100% termina siendo aburrido de tantas veces que obtienes el mismo final una y otra vez. Además, el juego a veces puede llegar a colgarse unas cuantas veces.
