Easy to learn yet challenging.
this game is truly beautiful. i like that u can turn ship ai on and just watch. the ship models are up to naval action standards if not a little smoother. runs great on w11 for me. had one crash to desk on a land battle, but ive played abt an hour after that and it hasnt happened again. the land battles imo are better than ugcw. u can actually rotate the camera and the black powder smoke is pretty nice. i play twn a lot and its naval is decent but its ugly after playing this. this and rise of piracy fill the gaps naval action cant. i got it on sale but honestly if u love age of sail ships as much as me i could see myself paying full, but if this isnt ur perfect cup of tea wait for a sale. i havent played the campaign yet but from what i hear theres no sandbox to it. take that as u will ive been happy playing quick or custom matches. i mean, water's water. lol

This is the best age of sail strategic game I have ever played. It is definitely not perfect. In fact, there are a lot of things that can be improved. However, this is the best you can find in the game store. The battles and ship design of this game are very realistic.

Good game to play, the AI is always good and helpful so you don't have to fully focus on all your fleet at once during battles
Idk what they did but they updated the game at some point and now the game is not only hard but near unplayable. The game while hard is also a big part of its draw. But since the last time I played to time of this review they updated the path finding and other misc. "QOL" improvements. The pathfinding was changed to help the units move around buildings better. The update has not only not improved it but actually broke it. Now infantry not only struggles to walk around objects and buildings but cant even try to walk around them and will go in a straight line through them. Even if there is a gap between two buildings units are now prone to getting stuck. this affects every unit as well so landing boats struggle to land and will spin around on the beach, ship ai no longer tries to move to try and gain the upper hand but just tries to stay as close as possible to its target, etc... . This in of its self is not unexpected considering this series history of poor unit AI BUT THEY HAVE ALSO SOME HOW RUINED HOW YOU SELECT AND CONTROL UNITS. Holding to select multiple units is a 25% gamble everytime you press the mouse button, selecting one unit is now more likely to give a drawline move order than actually select the unit (which then can cause them to spin around and if they are active in combat get flanked and take extra damage) when you click on the map to move sometimes the order will just randomly change after you confirm it (wasting stamina and condition) combined with the egregious pathfinding you no longer over see a large naval force but babysit a toddler with a battery in its mouth which you cant remove or else you'll get gunned down in cold blood so you have to just stop the baby from swallowing the battery rather than simply taking it out of their mouth

The campaign is dry and linear. The between-battle UI is tedious. You outfit your ships with canons... by scrolling through a list which grows ever longer the more canons you have unlocked.
Setting up a quick battle is exhausting, as you scroll through dozens of canons for your warships and set up rudimentary ship stat customization.

Ships can explode, sails can rip, and masts can fall, but ship destruction is a 2d canon hole sprite. You lose men, but don't get to see evidence of it. Destruction in Napoleon Total War is better. In land battles, you can lose men, but the units don't have the correct number of models, so you're watching a drab depiction of a fight.

Perhaps if you are after a linear somewhat historical game, this is it for you, but if you fell in love with the battles of Napoleon and Empire Total War, this will not scratch your itch.
Pretty sure this company went belly up, so don't expect improvements.

The sailing phisics is great. The gameplay could be improved a lot, especially in the map tab when in port. It behaves so unexpectedly. I started over the entire campaign when on stage two because I tought the map was bugged. I clicked on the Next Stage button when I shouldn't have, and I didn't click on it when should have. Once I finally undertood the wait the creators of the game wants us to use this button and the top right "ribbons", it was smooth sailing from then on.

This is a really interesting and fun game to play. There is an excellent tutorial to teach you how to play the game well and the graphics are fantastic. I would highly recommend this game to anyone interested in naval strategy games and wargames.
Very cool game, it is worth the money spent on it. the tech can be made better yet it is still good. Wish there will be some open world so we aren't stuck with the US or the UK.

This game is a great idea for a game, but it has very clunky AI that will have your ships running into each other, sitting idle, and running aground. It is also a "sailing game" that forces you to do a ton of land battles with equally bad AI and and frustrating mechanics that force you to replay long drawn out missions. If i could skip all of the land battles i would in a heart beat.

Difficulty spikes out of no where, a completely linear mission list that leaves no room for independent decision making by the player. The only way to win some fights is just by cheesing the AI into submission. Fun gameplay at it's best. Frustrating ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the other 90% of the game. Waste your money somewhere else

Genuinely awful degression from UGCW. The sea battles were meh and the land battles are gutted. The groups are not labeled and hand made groups break when a unit retreats, so its useful for all of 10 seconds. The readouts are not nearly as helpful or descriptive (like telling you when your flanking or flanked) and the 3d models are a 100% downgrade from the 2.5d that CW had mastered. The units of only 100 look poor compared to the skirmishers of CW. The explosion textures look like the ones from Total War Warhammer...so not good.
and....WHO THE HELL TURNED ON FRIENDLY FIRE ON A GRAND SCALE RTS. Its appalling, especially since a part of the AI will push your units around subtly so they can shoot around other units. I watched a unit back right over a cannon firing canister and get flattened. If there is a charge the concentration of force just means your defenders shoot their friends in the back.
Land battles handle like your post divorce Dad. You were excited to go see him after some time but it turns out the drunken slump on the floor wasn't what you remembered.
I've wanted this game for a long time, but being a: cheap and b: poor, I waited until it finally had a deep enough discount that I went for it. And I'm happy I did. Yes the last update was 2021 so it pretty much qualifies as abandonware. yes it has flaws-one of the ones that drives me absolutely bugf__k is the way that enemy crews abandon their sinking ship into the boats, power up their 400hp Mercury outboards and make a beeline for a ship that has struck its colours (that's surrender for you non-nautical types) board it and start fighting again. Usually mere seconds before my crew was about to board and take the ship as a prize. This-well, I can't say it [i]never[/i] happened, but it's exceedingly rare and it's insanely dishonorable. When a ship strikes its colours it is admitting that it can no longer fight. If it start fighting again, there would be no quarter. Their opponent(s) would fire into her until she sank or blew up. They might or might not pick up survivors, but if they did, the survivors would be in for a seriously rough time.
There are other flaws, but I'm not going to list them here now (maybe later).
What's good about the game? Well the very first thing I saw almost brought tears to my eyes. The ships . . . ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE ACTUAL SHIPS!!!
Now I concede that to you pukestockings out there, this might seem a weird thing to get excited about. but I'm a Maritime Historian and a tall ship sailor. It drives me berserk that in virtually ALL games that involve sailing ships, the ships look . . . well they look like dung. Dung from a cow with a serious bowel disorder. Take Assassin's Creed Black Flag. It's a game about *Y^$#^&%$^^T^ pirates for Ghu's sake! yet while all the other graphics are beautiful, the ships are disgraceful. The decks are laid out like checkerboards with planks running at angles to each other. The deadeyes which support the masts [i][b]aren't even connected to the hull!!![/i][/b] I could go on-for hours-but I'll stop there. It's the same with every other game. Down through WWII and WWI, the ships look like their real counterparts.
I'm going to give a shout out here to the game "Naval Hurricane" which involves WWI ship combat. The ships are gorgeously rendered in fine detail. Plus it's frikkin a blast to play.
But get any further back and the ships are ridiculous. Why don't game developers take ANY time at all to look at historical examples??
Well the developers of this game did and it brings a tear to the eye of this grizzled old salt, stap me wi' a handspike else. Well Done sirs (or madams) Well Done!
Plus the sailing physics are handled . . . relatively well. The ships get caught in irons (bow to the wind) a bit more than they ought to, but the sails and yards are moved in a pretty fair approximation of the way they would on a real ship. Battles with a lot of ships can become messy brawls pretty quickly if you break formation, but that happened in the real world too.

I completed both the campaings of the base game and it's a good naval game, campaign and naval battles are excelent.
The land battles are notting special. expecially if compared to totalwar. but they are good and the fact that you can combine ship and land is nice. The best feature of this game is that you can keep every ship you capture. That makes the game very fun because you can constantly upgrade your fleet. The game difficulty can be strange. Generally speaking the game is easy but it can become very difficult, especially the first time you meet a ship-of-the-line. But when you capture your first ship-of-the-line is such a big satisfaction.
Generally i suggest you to use the boarding, and boarding upgrades as much as you can in the naval battles. while in the land battle Cannons are the only thing that matter. so try to caputere or eliminate them as fast as you can
some flaws of the game are that the custom battle doesn't have a fast fleet generation button, and don't let you edit the enemy fleet. The game have few history battle to play outside the campaing. It is also sad that they don't have dlc on 7 years war or english-dutch war. but generally speaking i suggest it, if you like sail ships

Its hard to say i'm a fan of the game, series, etc. there's a lot of times where the balance of the game just seems to be the developer telling you to ♥♥♥♥ yourself. the third rates are big fugly sea monsters and there's not a lot you can do to beat them other than being lucky enough to cheese the game, and so far the best i've managed is losing my entire fleet trying to win. it doesn't appear that you're able to purchase any larger ships, so i'm left scratching my head, wondering what on earth i'm supposed to be doing to win. missions either feel ridiculously easy or stupidly hard. id love to have mods in the game that made it easier and harder at the same time, but consistently this developer keeps everything locked and hidden away and leaves there games feeling unfinished, unpolished, frustrating, and hard to describe as fun
Don't know why, but this is one of my favorite games. I've played through all 3 campaigns repeatedly. Wish their other games were this fun.
Had an absolute blast. I really don't understand the negative reviews, this is hands down the best age of sail RTS and you can pick it up for a steal on sale.
It's everything I'd hoped for in terms of naval battles. The ships look great and there's just the right level of complexity. The land battles are decidedly inferior in terms of depth and it's a shame there isn't a naval-only campaign, but they're still fun and the naval combat more than makes up for it.
Each campaign has dozens of hours of content, and there's lots of high level strategy around customising your ships and crews.
Great game, very interesting levels and scenarios. On sale for eight bucks it's incredible. Finished the American campaign and I just have to say, the land battles are fine. It's equivalent to men of war assault 2 and the initial land battles are teaching sections for the later hybrid battles ultimately. You're given a decent group you don't need to pay for starting out and then eventually need to build up your land force, until you have a landing force. Everything is a teaching section for the next stage and the main weakness the game has is allowing the player to catch on too quickly. I only played normal difficulty so maybe increasing it changes that, but normally it doesn't.
Boarding is overpowered and grapeshot is a great way to save money on repairs for ships you steal. Main complaints if you could call them complaints. I found very little point in using chainshot and only used normal cannon shot out of spite. Don't overthink land battles, just send your dudes and make sure they have support. The coastal fortifications were made to be bombed.
Age of Sail modernizes the original and takes players into both amphibious and land battles, in addition to the naval conflicts for which it is famous. With a focus on the American Revolution and the following years, the only drawback is the inability to complete the campaign without the use of land battles.

Grafica semplice, gioco che si lascia scoprire mano a mano che si va avanti, soprattutto nelle campagne. Lo stile alla fine è quello del war game realistico, ma senza troppi fronzoli grafici in eccesso.

Claramente uma cópia do Total War: Napoleon (2010), com algumas mudanças: podendo escolher a quantidade de tripulação de acordo com o peso que o navio suporta, escolher as armas da tripulação, escolher os canhões do navio, entre outras melhorias.
Minha conclusão final: Total War: Napoleon de 2010 ainda é bem melhor! No gráfico, na destruição, na jogabilidade e na física, dentre outras coisas.
Mas o jogo é interessante, cada um com sua essência! Só não troco Total War: Napoleon por essa imitação.

Very fun strategy game using the ships from Game Labs other game; Naval Action. There are a few complaints I have, not about design or gameplay but visual because that's what I care about.
First a bit of praise for of course the fantastic ship models, excusing the poor slap on textures that ruined the originals, and the officer management system which shows officers portraits and their uniform reflects their rank, and changes to match every time they are promoted. Its a very nice touch that I appreciate.
Unit pictures do not match their actual units, the worst offender being the Hermione-class frigate which has a unit picture of the Hermione built in 2014 by France which is a replica ship also featured in Naval Action...which is fine, but the actual unit is the Santa Cecilia, also from naval action, and its just confusing why they went this route because they're nothing alike visually and don't get me wrong I love the Santa Cecilia but why not have both in the game? Then there's the Porcupine-class corvette which is actually a 6th rate post ship, not a corvette, also the unit picture shows the iconic HMS Pandora with the British paint job with yellow, red, blue, black, and copper plating but when you look at the actual unit it will have the the drab nelson chequer that lacks half the paint colors. It ALREADY had the Brtish paint scheme, change it for the spaniards and french if you have to but leave it unique for the British. Its annoying that a lot of these ships that had more interesting paint jobs or completely different designs are pushed aside out of laziness. Its my understanding the captain of a ship, or the commanding officer of flotilla etc. was the one who chose and paid for paint on their assigned vessels. In this game you have no control over that, and on top of that your ships will always be in a single color pattern to simplify the visuals.
I think it would've been far more interesting to see the unique paint jobs, and instead of repainting ships when you capture them maybe you just let them have whatever paint job they already had and then the bonus of purchasing a vessel from the admiralty is you could get the more unique looking paint jobs.
Sadly we will likely not see a sequel due to the way things unfolded with the company, however if it were to happen I would love to see a sequel with the Ultimate General: American Revolution style campaign map but with the focus on ships set in the Napolenoic theatres. I admit I haven't played much of total war empire or napoleon but that's because the ships were incredibly underwhelming. If gamelabs was good at one thing, it was faithfully recreating ships not just saying it, look at the proof. I just wish they were a bit closer to their original naval action counterparts.
Good Game, if you are a fan of naval/pirate then this is a great game to play. The Naval battles are terrific and are live action (not turn based), building and managing your fleet is fun. The land battles are not the best but they are ok and keep the game fun. The missions in this game are overall hard but fun. I give it 4/5 stars, def buy if on sale.

Don't play this game. This is a poorly designed game where the naval battles are too slow, and if you bump up the speed, the micro becomes unmanageable. Sometimes you get stuck trying to watch your ship needing to chase an enemy ship far away against the wind, so you're just stuck there on x4 speed waiting for full minutes for the enemy ship to actually leave battle.
I regret even buying it at $7. This is a waste of time.
el juego es muy bueno, pero pense que iba a ser un sistema de campaña libre por turnos y gestion, como el napoleon total war, y me desepcione bastante al saber que es bastante lineal y de misiones, igual no jugue mucho asi que no me tengan tan en cuenta, pero eso la bajo bastante.

Aight played a bit more. The game has good and bad qualities, unfortunately the bad stuff are integrated into the game itself and literally has no way to counter or bypass. Only buy during a big sale.
The good:
It has a mix of land and sea battles: sea battles are almost perfect. Land battles is straight up ♥♥♥♥. BUT with a good RP potential. good thing is you can skip land battles entirely. Still kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that they did not fix it and just let you decide to do land battles or just not bother with it.
Ship AI: they are straight up dumb but I guess mostly a good thing.
Persistence: I really love the persistence of units, officers, and you the general is really good. From number of guns, experience of units and officers, research done. They mingle perfectly with one another.
The bad:
Land battles: Other people have already written in depth critic with this already so just go read theirs.
Sea battle boarding: Its kinda ass. It uses 3 measurements. speed, angle, and distance. Its very complicated, very random, and very inconsistent. What I hate the most is when you can actually see the boarding ropes already pulling the opponent ship, a notification that a boarding is happening, go elsewhere, go back and see that the boarding has not happened/canceled. And it sucks that the only way to get reputation is by selling trophy ships via boarding.
Artificial difficulty: Not a problem with the 1st campaign but oh my god the 2nd and 3rd campaign can eat my a$$. I get it enemy AI need to cheat to do better, but when the AI is immune to getting their mast destroyed while mine was just 3 shotted, its just too much man.
Reserve mechanic: Nice on paper but badly implemented. You will almost NEVER put any unit on reserve. Unless getting a stronger ship. But you will never have enough to keep your brand new ship fully manned. I just wish the reserved does not come from your units directly but scales up as you get promoted.
Prinzipiell ist dieses Spiel eine gute Idee, nur die Umsetzung ist recht klein gehalten.
Ich persönlich bin ein großer Fan von Simulatoren, vor Allem wenn es aus dem strategischen Bereich ist. Nach circa 15 Minuten, nachdem ich alle drei Tutorials durchspielte, merkte ich doch recht schnell, dass zum Beispiel Imperial Glory oder Total War - Napoleon und co. dann doch die bessere Alternative wären.
Die Seegefechte spielen sich recht schwierig, denn die Kommandos sind recht schwierig in ihrer Umsetzung. Man gib hier zum Beispiel der Mannschaft den Enterbefehl, welcher dann aber doch recht träge, wenn überhaupt, umgesetzt wird.
Die Gefechte zu Lande spielen sich ebenfalls sehr merkwürdig, weswegen ich persönlich auf jeden Fall zu anderen Spielen dieses Genres und Zeitgeschehens zurückgreifen werde.
Die Grafik ist, trotz der Einstellung "Ultra" recht einfach gehalten, was nicht schlimm wäre, wäre wenigstens der Spielspaß gegeben.
Zuletzt möchte ich noch hinzufügen, dass der Preis dennoch recht angemessen ist, wenn man hier kein Spiel erwartet in welches man unbedingt hunderte Stunden investieren kann.
Für mich persönlich eine 3/10.

In principle, this game is a good idea, but the implementation is rather limited.
Personally, I am a big fan of simulators, especially when it comes to strategy games. After about 15 minutes of playing through all three tutorials, I quickly realized that Imperial Glory or Total War - Napoleon and co. would be better alternatives.
The naval battles are quite difficult to play because the commands are quite difficult to execute. For example, you give the crew the order to board, but it is executed quite sluggishly, if at all.
The battles on land are also very strange, which is why I personally will definitely resort to other games of this genre and historical period.
Despite the “Ultra” setting, the graphics are kept quite simple, which wouldn't be a problem if the game was at least fun to play.
Finally, I would like to add that the price is still quite reasonable if you don't expect a game that you can invest hundreds of hours in.
For me personally, a 3/10.
太好玩了
This is a very nice game, proper balance of detail but not tedious amount. The landscapes around islands are beautiful, ships are awesome, you can come up with many types of tactics to win battles. I would only recommend the harder difficulty though, once you played a bit. It gives you the proper challenges and rewards (capturing ships and equipment) if you manage to win.
You can detach scouts from units and they are needed as you must always scout ahead.
Also, I did not have to save scum a lot, however certain missions on highest difficulty require some trial and error to get your strategy right. Battles feel immersive and often difficult, you cannot just throw any unit against any enemy. Guns at this point are the kings of the battlefield, so make sure to use some, both howitzers and field guns have their use and purpose.
In terms of naval battles, on harder difficulties you will encounter larger ships than yours, which are very difficult to batter with cannons (you can though with a lot of micromanagement and by equipping the correct long range guns on some of your ships). Large ships are worth capturing after some preparations with grapeshot and by sending only elite marines led by elite officers from one of your flagships, however be prepared for large losses.
Overall I had great fun learning and mastering this game during the french campaign, the american was great as well, but in a different way. It was probably the most fun I had with any game, ever, alongside Battle Brothers.
I get some of the hate it gets, but imo they're more just a matter of preference.
Настолько беззубой артиллерии я в жизни не видел. Такое ощущение, что корабли заряжают ватными шариками. Особенно это бросается в глаза, когда они пытаются обстреливать пехоту на берегу. Даже если вражеский отряд стоит в полный рост на пляже прямо перед кораблём, залп не убьет там никого (а вот пехота может убить пару-тройку членов экипажа ружьями)
Бои неописуемо долгие, тебе надо делать по 10000 выстрелов в каждый отряд, в каждый корабль... В общем - уныло

Fun sea and land battles.
There seem to be a lot of complaints about the latter, but I've never had a problem on land as long as I advance slowly, hold in defence, and refuse the flanks. Standard military doctrine; artillery pounds the enemy, infantry protects the artillery, light/fast units harass the flanks.
Ship battles are all about capturing the enemy ships if you can, running away as soon as possible if you can't. Oh, and not sinking of course ^^. The 'history' is predictably racist lies, but apparently that's required in the 21st century.
fun game if you are a age of sail fan. campaigns are also engaging enough. only wish there would be a bit more varition in ships
Arguably a better naval simulator than the comparable games I have played (TW: Napoleon and TW: Empire), but the land combat is confusing and unsatisfying. If I continue to play this in the future, I'll probably try to skip the land combat.
The game really should have never inputted land battles as an option or playable part. If anything the AI should control units once they are on solid ground and allow the player to maintain control of naval units.
BUT.... The naval side of things has a few quirks... but the ship combat is why we are here and it's solid. Don't use the AI option you get a neutered version of what the Enemy AI uses. The game has a pause button. Use. It.
I can say that sea battles are good but land battles are worse than any amateur video games that you can buy at steam. Can´t control units easily and AI openly cheats e.g. enemy units recover easily in 15 seconds, a 140 men enemy unit open fire to a 100 men friendly and friendly unit retreated with at least 3 mins to recover but 2x220 men friendly unit fired volleys (flanking fire included) to an enemy 80 men and enemy fought until their last 20 men bravely and these were settlers. My 440 men were elite (?) Grenadiers. In fog of war AI has always some units by suprise. So I usually don´t play the land phase.
I really wanted to like this game,but the continued freezes in both desktop and laptops preclude a positive rewiew. Also the AI does a terrible job when you select boarding option, requiring one to manually control approach to get next to other ship for boarding; AI never works right here,and never fails to disappoint.
i love this game. nice blend of land and sea combat. i wish there was some form of dynamic campaign, or infinite storyline type of thing, like a pirate career

It's the naval combat from Napoleon Total War and the land combat from Ultimate General Civil War. The studio is shuttered I believe so don't expect any updates. There are some strange bugs still, like missing quotes on splash screens, and the campaign can be very unbalanced at times, but I got it on sale and I'm having fun with it.
A very good game for anyone intersted in the naponeolic era and its warfare.Great campaign,great gameplay,great ships.
Creo que después de unas horas puede llegar a encantarte o a cansarte por su repetitividad. Es un juego que requiere algo de práctica para dominarlo y, si bien no es Empire ni Napoleon: Total War, incorpora elementos interesantes como los desembarcos navales, algo que recién empezó a verse en Rome II: Total War.
No diría que es aburrido, pero los controles pueden sentirse algo toscos. Es evidente que no tiene el mismo nivel de pulido o profundidad que un Total War, aunque su propuesta es original y tiene mucho potencial. Personalmente, recomiendo comprarlo con descuento: vale la pena, pero no a precio completo.
Llevo unas 14 horas jugadas al momento de escribir esto, y la experiencia fue positiva en general. Es verdad que con el tiempo se vuelve un poco repetitivo y me deja ese pensamiento de “si fuera Empire II: Total War, sería mejor”, pero fuera de eso, ofrece bastantes horas de diversión y una experiencia diferente dentro del género.
Worthy successor to Age of Sail 2, as far as the naval actions are concerned - most of these are embedded in the campaigns, which works quite well. The amphibious ops and land battles are a bonus. High production values, good visuals...and it's fun!

empire total warの海戦と同社製品のUltimate generalシリーズの陸戦をキメラさせたような内容
帆船が好きで好きで堪らない小生のような拗らせたミリオタ諸兄に是非とも送り付けたい隠れた名作
ただ単純なストラテジーゲームとして考えるとゲームバランスや操作性などに少し粗が目立つ
その上発売から4年が立ち、日本語版が出ることも絶望的なのである程度の英語力（しかも帆船時代の海軍の専門用語）も理解できないとゲームの仕様が分かりづらいため、お世辞にも万人受けはしない
しかし雄大な戦列艦が追い風を受けて颯爽と敵の戦列に突入し、移乗攻撃で育てた士官と水兵達が荒々しく戦う姿を脳内補完できるような変態には堪らない ん、絶対買うべき
[h3]士官候補生（midshipman）たちに捧げるキャンペーン攻略[/h3]
まずキャンペーン選択では左端の”Rule the wave"を選ぼう。初心者向きだ！（簡単とは言ってない）
次にキャリアの選択だ。これは好きにするといい。強いて言うなら艦を派遣するサイドミッションの成功率、乗組員の成長速度、評価が上がるそれぞれ一番下、上、下の選択肢を選ぼう。特に鹵獲した艦を艦隊に加えるのに評価を消費するので、終盤まで資金よりもカツカツになる場合が多い。その後難易度を決められるが、キャンペーンの難易度はかなり高めなので１番上の簡単になる選択肢を選ぼう。
その後チュートリアル戦闘が始まる。ここでは説明通りにやるか、下を参考に進めよう。
基本的に戦闘には目標がある。（敵艦隊を殲滅、敵艦何とかを鹵獲する、目標を陸上部隊で占領するなど）この目標を達成し、その報酬で艦隊を強化し、また別の先頭に臨むのがこのゲームの大筋だ。
チュートリアルということで基本的な仕様と操作方法を伝授しよう。ＷＡＳＤでカメラ移動、ＱＥでカメラ回転。艦もしくは陸上部隊を左クリックした後好きな場所で右クリックするとその場所へと移動する。ただ艦については周りの円の赤い方に向かおうとすると向かい風で進まなくなってしまう。逆に緑の部分は追い風で最速に近い速度で進むことができるぞ！なおドラッグして複数の艦や部隊を選択することも可能だ。
戦闘は基本的に射程距離内に敵がいれば自動で発砲してくれる。海上においては右下の３つのボタンから弾を選べる。左は普通の砲弾で、敵の艦にダメージを与える。真ん中の葡萄弾は敵の水兵にダメージを与えられる。また普通の弾丸でダメージを与えた後葡萄弾を使うとより多くの水兵を減らせる！なお艦と部隊のアイコン（四角いやつ）に書いてある数がその艦の水兵、または部隊の人数だ。一番右の砲弾は敵のマストにダメージを与え、速度を低下させられる！…があんまり使いどころさんがない。普通にボコった方が早い。
敵艦を右クリックし、下のロープのボタンを押すと移乗攻撃ができる！ちなみに条件は自艦と敵艦がガチ恋距離であり、同じ方向を向いており、なおかつ速度が同じくらいであることだ。この条件を満たすと敵艦との間にロープが張られ、敵水兵との白兵戦が始まる。敵を全滅させるか、降伏させられれば成功！下の自艦の上のボートもしくは矢印のアイコンから水兵を派遣すれば自分の戦力として扱え、戦闘終了後には評価を払って艦隊に加えることができる！ので葡萄弾の使いどころが鍵だ！その後は売るなり魔改造してバリバリ戦わせるなり、あとは皆さまのおもちゃです。購入やイベントによる艦の追加だけでは到底戦力が足りないので、バリバリ鹵獲を目指そう！中盤以降特に上級クラスの艦である戦列艦（ship of the line、基本的に６８門以上の砲を持つ船）は積極的に鹵獲しよう。売るにしても使うにしても便利な存在である。またこちらの砲撃で勝手に相手が降伏することがある。その時は[b]絶対に[/b]一旦自艦を停止させ、ボートボタンを押して乗組員を送り込もう。モタモタしてると敵が降伏を撤回し、再び攻撃してくる。いいのかそれ
なおこのゲームでは基本的に等級の高い船が正義である。小さい船の方が小回りなんかは良いが、火力が足りず格上の相手にはまともにダメージを与えられない。ので格上には[b]絶対に[/b]複数の艦で挑もう！それでも何隻かは沈んで必死に育てた士官と乗組員が海の藻屑になるのはこのゲームの醍醐味だからね、しょうがないね
まとめると
１，なるべく敵艦は移乗攻撃で鹵獲する。
２，大型艦はなるべく囲んで叩く。それでも被害は出る。
３，複数の艦に指示を出すのが難しいなら下のAIボタンを押して委任しよう。甚大な被害が出るが負けるよかマシ。

动态难度跟吃屎一样，制作组玩过游戏吗，什么叫前脚拿命抢三级战列舰后脚敌人二级就批发了，而海军部还是给我五级护卫舰和两万块钱，为什么英国的海军都是从西班牙和法国人那抢来的？是自己不会造没有手吗？破案了，这破日不落帝国就是抢来的，大英海军就是全球最大的海盗头子。以及破白刃战不会弄可以删了，没人想不断读档让五级护卫舰跳帮二级战列舰，最关键还登不上去，登上去还要用命填，填完继续下一场酣畅淋漓的吃屎，法国人知道它战列舰是批发的吗？拿破仑知道特拉法加尔之前法国海军已经损失了三十多艘战列舰了吗？而且这破游戏是完全接受不了高战损的因为沉一艘船废物海军部也补不上来，因为我的船全他妈是抢来的 综上，别选够吧动态难度，这逼制作组上代的毛病在这里发扬光大了，什么叫我酣畅大胜但战线一直在后退？
