Игра 'Starship Theory' - приятный сюрприз в жанре космических стратегий. Простой, но затягивающий геймплей строится вокруг менеджмента ресурсов и проектирования кораблей. Изначально кажущаяся примитивной, игра раскрывает глубину по мере развития технологий и столкновений с более сложными противниками.
Порадовала система кастомизации кораблей. Возможность изменять компоновку модулей, вооружения и экипажа позволяет создавать уникальные боевые единицы, адаптированные к конкретным задачам. Визуальное исполнение, хоть и не самое современное, имеет свой шарм и создает атмосферу классической научно-фантастической оперы.
Из минусов можно отметить некоторую однообразность игровых событий на поздних этапах и недостаточную проработку некоторых элементов интерфейса. Тем не менее, общее впечатление от 'Starship Theory' положительное. Рекомендую всем любителям космических стратегий, ищущим что-то новое и не перегруженное лишними сложностями. Игра дарит много часов увлекательного геймплея и ощущение того, что ты строишь собственную космическую империю.
dosent make any sence, your crew will randomly die, there is no information about anything!!! the ship it starts u with cant even support the people in it. play rimworld insted this game is HORRIBLE....after some obvious rage quitting and quite a bit of frustration..... this game is pretty good, there NEEDS to be a basic tutorial, but once you get the ropes its pretty simple. main game loop is just minning space rocks, in between or during an trader visiting or a pirate attack. pretty simple but addicting

Look, I've got to make this clear:
I hate this game, I hate it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much I think I might be okay with the notion of genocide so long as it took out the developers.
That being said, I can't stop playing it.
It's a rogue-like, though it does allow for the option of save scumming, but I have too much foolish pride to allow me to do that.
It's not a complex game, and like most rogue-likes, the RNGod has far too much say in how your game goes. I won it, though, despite there being no definition of winning, I reached the point where the RNGod couldn't defeat me. I could happily thumb my nose, knowing that my ship could withstand any test thrown at it.
I thought I was free. I had done it, I could move on with my life.
I was wrong.
Soon enough, I was looking through my library, thinking, "What shall I play today?". I spotted Starship Theory, and thought, "I wonder if I could do it better?". I did...but that thought kept ahold of me....Could I do it better yet?
I've lost track.
I keep doing it.
I keep trying.
I keep losing.
I keep starting a new game.
If you have anything else in your life, don't play this game. Go, kiss you Significant Other, play with your children (If you have them.), don't let this game in...it will dominate you.
If you're like me though...
Play it...become like me....let me know I'm not alone.

Game does not have any balance. You may have 5 traders or 5 raiders in a sequence . Also bribes have no logic. One raider wants 100 next want 400 than again 100 why?
I love playing this game.
Unfortunately the game is still in Early Access and I don't think it's being developed anymore.
But the game is still very playable and I think this game has great potential.
There are a few bugs in the game, but they are not game breaking to me.
I think this game looks similar to the game FTL. If you like this game, you might like FTL too.
The sounds and music of the game are good, but the music is a bit repetitive. You can disable the music in this game.
The gameplay is very good in this game. The controls differ from similar games, but it's easy to get used to it.
This game does not have a tutorial yet, luckily there are people on youtube who explain the game.
Also there is a lot of information in the discussions section in case you are troubled in the game.

Said they would remake the game in a thread, but then the dev just meme'd around and clearly didn't give a ♥♥♥♥. This should be taken off of steam because it's pure abandonware.
"Starship Theory" is an abandoned Early Access attempt to make a kind of FTL-meets-survival-crafting-mining game, which might have even worked if it was professionally developed. And finished. Starship Theory is not finished, and is very badly put together. The developer took all the money from backers and ran for the hills, no refunds were given.
The developers abandoned this 7 years ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games.
The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse.
It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $12 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on unfinished, low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. This is a slap in the face to anyone naive enough to back this project thinking the developer would make good on their promises. Instead, the developers kept the money from all the backers they scammed. Not a single cent has been refunded.
Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
really nice little space ship builder game
I have to say for a free game it's actually really great for what we get.
It can be very difficult for someone who doesn't understand these types of sandbox games.
I started on the hardest difficulty which is a just a pod & managed to get it to a functioning ship.... After 10 tries, BUT I learned from each session I had.
Do I recommend this game at it's current state? Absolutely! This game has enough content to fill in that space/rimworld-esque type of gameplay, plus it's free. You don't really have anything to lose apart from the time learning how to play.
Game is playable and fun even though its been abandoned, for what it is its good and I still come back and play it years later. Developer just was not able to finish it due to real life. If you like this I highly recommend trying Space Haven. At the time of this review its late development but very fun and similar to a better fusion of this and FTL.
Seeing as it is now free to play I can recommend trying it out.
There [i]are[/i] some bugs, I've encountered that the buttons to trade with other ships become increasingly larger as the game goes on, this can be rest by saving the game and then immediately reloading that save directly. Probably a memory bug or something.
Don't expect too much from it, but it's certainly a fairly chill experience for me. And at that price (free at the moment of writing this review) the only thing you can lose is some time. If it doesn't catch you in the first 30 minutes you should probably just write it off as not for you.
It is an abandoned game. One of the bugs is when you repeatedly interact with the merchants the boxes can get bigger every interaction. If that happens just save and quit out and it will be reset. Otherwise it is a pretty chill game where you shoot asteroids and fend off pirates every now and again. If you don't like it after a couple of hours you probably won't like it. I found it enjoyable though when I just want to relax.

Ok, after playing around, and viewing MANY, MANY, videos on how to play (does not look good when you have to google how to play a game you bought.....) Doing a New review.
The bad..... You will likely yell at this game at first, I still have a hate/like for it.
Standard Pod start:
Game start of a pod is very very poorly setup, I get it your an escape pod.....still the start is like Chess, only good move is to take the center board on chess (very very rarely anything else is even viable.) So you have your standard problems that kind of force you to play one specific way to even have a chance.....yep you heard me just a chance...not a guarantee.
The RNG:
The start of the game is very RNG if you will survive at all. Between random Asteroid hits that you wont really dodge at the start, and Random enemies that can spawn in and mess up your day as your just starting.....the first 30 mins to well a point where you finally got some research and good power/weapons combo. Your going to be at the mercy of RNG....good thing you can save.....dont save on only one, and always have a save that does not have an event going on, or just after you manage to escape one, save then.....
The last and final bad....
NO REAL CONTROL of how the game progresses, or to fullfil a need.
The game is very demanding that you be the one mining stuff until you do the LONG LONG research for Auto miners.....woops sorry they take tons of energy and CPU of your ship.....yeah they are basically required so you can focus on other actual aspects of the game. But once you gett a setup of those going, its just a repeat of ship....ship....Asteroid field.....ship....ship with asteroid field, I alway need Asteroid fields..... but can their really not be anything more? (stars are more a Did I build enough heat dumps or not? once you have mantained that your basically good at forgeting about them.) Stars are more for annoyance at game start.
This can be fixed with MORE travel places/choices, and some actual trade spots to trade for things you need. This would like be easy to add on, without changing the style.
The good stuff.....
The Kiss Rule:
Once RNG trouble is mostly handled, and you actually have some control of choices, the game does one thing good for a PVE, its SIMPLE, it does not demand you know more then some build strenghts, you dont need to do combo building but you can, and simple is best to just have a funciton game. It does that Simple, this does cause some......annoyance on pawn priorities but it can work out.
--Additional to the simple aspect is resources are simple, 3 base, food/water, and money.
solid building mats (metal), Complex tool mats (Silicon), Adv Tech material (Gold) The triangle is complete here, simple but it works.
HEAT management: (yes this is a great thing)
I LOVE LOVE the fact you need heat management, its such a thing people dont realize or forget about space travel and thermodynamics. This game does somewhat oversimplify it, but that is also a good thing here. The fact that heat is actually a real issue for space flight is so nice to see attention given to this little fact. For that reason alone I Redid my entire Review.
The little things that make us happy: (customization on controls/gameplay setup, and menu simplicity)
The ability to change control binding, and several other little details that the game pays attention to help make the game more manageable with time to master. That earns this game from a NO, to a Maybe on Recommending on this alone.
Overall would I recommend this game.....NO is what I feel I should say by steam standards, but Maybe if as an option would be it. This game is definitely not for everyone, and I can say its a very Simple made game, so it is suppose to be lower priced as it is. I am going to put Yes only as I feel it has hope. Some changes or mods would make this game shine better. I would like to see that day. if none of those are to happen, then its a maybe/no.... still I like the idea. Thank you for making the game.

While this seemed interesting on the surface, it started off pretty hard to learn and everything I liked about it can be done better by the game Cosmoteer - which also has more features and, unlike this game, is getting updates.
This game has been unfinished and abandoned for more than 6 years at this point, don't bother with it.
Check Stardeus or The Last Starship instead.

Unfortunately the dev at some point went on a hiatus and never returned...
its a hard till you learn , to slow down , and do bit at the time slow build up the ship and always have someone on research and navigation, so you get the most out of the new tec and someone to be able to jump….
Just remember to get them all inside the ship before you run/Jump…..and try if you can to bribe them if you have the cash…
Advice.
Never sell food
Never sell water.
Get the auto miner as quick as possible ….

开局很抽象，救生舱靠挖矿扩建成大飞船还行，而且天天着火，热量积蓄多了应该是先升温吧，而且也没有船体对外界的辐射散热或者用废气带走热量，非得靠部件散热。
建议玩其他更加完善的游戏。毕竟是免费游戏，作者也不更新。
to be fair, this game is good, i can see that it has potential, but it just... to put it bluntly it needs updated BADLY, or at least given moding support so that the community that loves this game can keep it alive. i play it on occasions, but more often than not i end up just getting rid of it to make room for other games, it is honestly sad that i love this game so much yet it doesn't get updated from it's current state.

Игра по сути своей чистый мазохизм. Она однотипная, в ней невероятно сложно построить большой корабль, ибо как я понял, врагов вам ставят не по изученным технологиям, а по размерам. То есть если у вас будет большой корабль с малым реактором и 1-2 пушками, то к вам запросто прилетит махина с огромным реактором, идеальным охлаждением, миллиардом пушек и экипажем в 30 человек.
Прочитав другие обзоры я понял, что игру забросили. Возможно из неё могло бы что-то получится, но сейчас это непонятный, сырой мусор.
Она бесплатная, но дело скорее во времени которое вы на неё потратите.
Спустя долгое время, решил снова зайти в эту игру, чтобы удалить её ровно через 2 часа.
Как и говорил ранее - это сырое дерьмо, не стоящее времени.
Экипаж состоит из отмороженных придурков, которые не способны даже починить грёбанный пол, на котором должен был быть размещён кулер. Я нашёл решение этой проблемы, просто тыкнув носом одного из инженеров об этот пол, но сам факт того, что большую часть времени приходится наблюдать за тем, как экипаж тупит - уже дизморалит, ибо понимаешь, что игра сыра.
Что на счёт кораблей.
Торговые корабли, зачастую покупают то, чего у вас нет и продают то, что вам не по карману.
Складывается ощущение, что это сделано намеренно.
Корабли пиратов (а их разнообразие заканчивается на двух, как я понял) огромны и явно созданы не для того, чтобы как-то усложнить вам игру, а для того, чтобы закончить её вам, ибо мне попадались пираты на злоебучих крейсерах каждый второй корабль,

Seems to be bugged out.. my guys suddenly won't build anything, I can never get past the first 40 seconds, always something goes wrong and the game has no tutorial you just start in an asteroid field and left to it.

What is this game? I've tried it twice now. I looked up some tutorials for how the game mechanics functions, and it seemed simple enough. So my second time through, before I hit the asteroid mine, I made sure to build some extra space and some small heat sinks (all that's available in the early game). However, by the time the extra space was built, I was already half way through the asteroid field and my ship was half destroyed from hitting the asteroids. Before I knew it, I had two crew dead due to no water access. This all happened before I had so much as first contact with another ship where I could maybe buy some resources. I fully understand all of the negative reviews. Learn how to balance a game. Games should be difficult, not impossible.

pra quem não acompanhava o desenvolvimento antes de 2018 não sabe o que aconteceu com o Desenvolvedor e estão postando varias criticas culpando-o por abandono, mas o fato é que o jogo foi feito principalmente por uma pessoa e o que fiquei sabendo por cima eh que a esposa dele teve um problema de saúde então ele deixou o game de graça pra quando estivesse tudo resolvido ele voltasse a desenvolver ...Eu não acompanho ele mas acho que pra quem sabe da historia desse game entende muito bem porque ele esta ''parado'' e o que podemos fazer e torcer pra que dê tudo certo pra ele e ele volte logo com o desenvolvimento desse game lindo.

People who bought this... Its your own fault for buying Early Access games. Early Access are a SCAM. ALL OF THEM. AAA developers pay BIG MONEY for quality beta testers. You are willing to PAY to be a beta tester, not enjoy the full game and, worst, when the game finally releases, you are so tired of it that you won't even enjoy the experience anymore.
Stop buying Early Access games.

its kinda hard but after a few tutorials it becomes easy AND the water coolers and the food dispencers always must but put so they face the back of the ship otherwise your crew won't use them
Abandonware. Paid for it, it showed promise, could even have been really good, but the devs have fully abandoned it. Now that it's free all you'll waste on it is a little time, but it's still not worth it.
Крайне неудобное управление, колонисты тупые болванчики которым нужно задавать четкие приказы, иначе они даже не начнут работу (особенно бесит когда у тебя ломается производство еды или еще чего из-за того что плантация получила 1 урон и ученый не может её починить так как это не его специализация (даже в режиме ручного управления!)), и даже пожрать сходить они не хотят, то сами, то видители чертеж стула мешает, при том что через готовый стул они проходят. Неоправданно дорогое исследование автоматического шахтера что замедляет игру во много раз (я тут пришел заниматься строительством и менеджментом, а др0чем лазеров я в браузерных флеш играх могу позаниматься). Отсутствие автосейвов приводит к тому что можно потерять весь много часовой прогресс за секунды.
Подытожу: игра сырая и требует множество доработок, для скачивания и ознакомления не советую потеряете время, только если вы не хотите дать обратную связь разработчику (как это реализовано не знаю). Лучше сыграйте в "Rimworld" с модификациями на космос, опыт не описуемый.
"game" is more or less just constant frustration, things may go alright for a while, but sooner or later the game will just decide you die now, and there's nothing at all you can do about it. It still needs serious work before it's even ready for the public to see it, let alone be released.
My last run was going ok, for about an hour, then a hostile ship jumped in that was straight up impossible to kill, it had some 10 crew vs my 4, some kind of minigun that was straight up sniping component off my ship, compared to my 5 lasers that couldn't do jack squat to their ship(even all focused on a single ship bit, they didn't do anything to it), tried to jump away as the guides say to do, nothing happens, why? No idea game can't be bothered to tell me, reds random targeting hits a cpu core, and everything shuts off, yup game over, and not a bloody thing I could have done about it.
Better weapons are locked behind something, I'm assuming it's some kind of research? And while I did build the console and a character was using it, I've no idea how to actually choose what to research, game doesn't bother to tell you that either.
Guess the devs think we're psychic or something, can read their minds.
Even for free I can't recommend wasting time on this, I know I'm not going to.
I'm deeply disappointed; this game is incredibly unfair. I destroy the attackers' only energy source, and yet they keep shooting at me and functioning as if nothing happened. And when I eliminate the entire crew of the attacker's ship, it simply disappears and flies away? Where is the reward, the chance to salvage the ship and gain some loot in return for the long and strategic battle? I have absolutely no motivation to continue playing this game. It's a frustrating.

les vaisseaux par défauts sont une catastrophe,
je suis mort a cause d'un astéroide,
les personnages priorisent l'agriculture a la recherche,
un simple meuble dans le passage fait que les personnages ne peuvent plus passser, et donc ne peuvent plus rentrer dans le vaisseau ( et meurent dans l'espace)
bref je retourne jouer a rimworld...
I paid money, cold hard cash just for this game to make feel like an insignificant dumb a** on EASY mode and make me endure many deaths with no endgame goal to begin with, now its abandoned, free, and still horsesh*t.

So this game is fun for a short while, basically you spend some time figuring out how to even play since there is no tutorial and then you die a bunch and then you finally start making progress and make a big ship. All in all you are probably done in like 4 maybe 5 hours. Sadly the game doesn't really have an end game outside of death so you just kind of have to close it and say to yourself that it's done.
What I find disturbing and why I do not recommend this game is even though it has been updated to being "free to play" there were people that actually purchased this, including me and those people will never get what they paid for (A completed game) because the developer has taken the money, abandoned the game and disappeared.

Absolutely love this game. It's so simple in design but so complicated too! Once you get over the first hurdle its an amazing relaxing game. Design your own ♥♥♥♥ and don't starve! Cant wait for more updates.

I am so sorry, this has great potential, but it is unplayable in the current state, and absolutely no fun! Serious weaknesses in:
- User Interface
- what is going on
- instructions
- level of difficulties
you just don't know what is going on and why and what to do about it.
Plus building is a pain
the game unfinished and dead on the side of the devs so buy with caution
2025 edit: seems its free to play now, chill, not too much when it comes to content but worth a try now.
