I've been searching for other VR titles in the vein of Moss I never woulda guessed that Trover would scratch that itch.

You really have to enjoy (or at the very least, be able to tolerate) the Rick and Morty brand of humor to get into this title, but if you're into VR gaming and a fan of the series, this is going to tickly your fancy.

I got a bit confused by the "we recommend using a controller" message and initially tried playing with an Xbox controller, which introduced all sorts of challenges. I finished the game with the Quest 3 controllers, and while they worked *better* I would have to say this game's controls are a bit on the frustrating side.

Same sense of humor as High On Life game, by same developers. Can be played in VR or non VR. Highly recommend. Haven't finished yet, but I know it'll be a banger from start to finish.

The achievement that says "You actually did it?" Where you need to score 100 shots with the paper into the trash can in the teleportation pod? You don't have to do all 100 shots in a single day, or a single playthrough. Make 50 shots and wanna take a break? Come back next day and do the other 50, the shots you made, save. Hilarious achievements, just like High on life as well! Look forward to more games from this Developer, I haven't bought High On Life PT. 2 yet, but plan on it!

The first thing that stands out in this game is its visual style. Instead of going for hyper-realistic graphics, the game uses a cartoonish style that works extremely well. The environments are colorful, expressive and full of personality, and this kind of art style helps the game age much better over time.

Even though the graphics are relatively simple, they still look great and the game runs extremely well. It is surprisingly lightweight and does not require high end hardware to run smoothly. I originally played it using an RTX 2060 with 6 GB of VRAM and was getting very stable performance with framerates around 90 FPS or more in VR.

This is a great example of how good art direction can matter more than pushing raw graphical power.

[h2] Gameplay, Movement & VR Interaction [/h2]
The control scheme itself is not something totally new. There are already plenty of VR games where you control a character from a third person perspective while looking at the world around you, which basically feels like playing a flat game inside VR.

What makes this one interesting is how it places you directly inside the world. Instead of just watching the protagonist from far away, you are actually part of the environment as a character.

You play as a Chairorpian, an alien that spends its entire life sitting in a floating chair. From that position you exist inside the world in first person and can freely turn around to look at everything happening around you.

At the same time you control Trover in third person, moving him through the environment, fighting enemies and doing platforming sections. In your hands you hold a virtual game controller that represents how you control Trover. This controller is not just cosmetic. You use it to check Trover's status, interact with certain parts of the world and solve puzzles using abilities that you unlock during the game.

The game works perfectly with the Meta Quest controllers. That said, there is honestly no real advantage in using them. The only real difference is that you can physically lift the in-game controller with your hands. Because of that I ended up connecting a Bluetooth Xbox controller to the headset and played the rest of the game that way, which felt totally natural.

The whole game is meant to be played sitting down. Movement around the levels happens by teleporting between specific spots rather than moving freely anywhere you want. Some people will probably like that since it keeps things comfortable in VR, while others might find it a bit limiting.

[h2] Story & Characters [/h2]
You play the entire game as the silent Chairorpian, mostly watching the story unfold while other characters talk around you, especially Trover.

But you are not just some invisible spectator. The Chairorpian is an actual character in the story. Trover and several other NPCs constantly talk directly to you, react to your presence and include you in their conversations. It makes the whole thing feel way more interactive and helps sell the idea that you are part of the world.

The dialogue style is very recognizable if you know Justin Roiland's work. The humor follows that same chaotic vibe from Rick and Morty. Characters ramble a lot, repeat the same ideas in slightly different ways and say some completely ridiculous stuff that barely makes sense sometimes. That is basically the whole joke.

If you enjoy that kind of humor you will probably have a blast with the dialogue. It has the same energy seen in High On Life. Weird conversations, awkward jokes and a lot of absurd nonsense.

[h2] DLC [/h2]
The game also has a completely free DLC that adds a good chunk of extra content. It brings a new environment, new characters, some extra areas to explore and a bunch of new quests. It fits the tone of the main game really well and adds a bunch of new funny moments.

That said the DLC does feel a little bit unfinished in some ways. There are several areas that you can clearly see in the environment or hear characters talking about, but they never actually become accessible.

One example is an entire second floor that gets mentioned multiple times during the DLC. It sounds like something important might happen there, but it never opens. It basically turns into a big running joke inside the game.

Still, since this DLC is completely free and only adds more content, it is definitely worth checking out. It is short but still really fun.

[h2] Achievements [/h2]
The achievements are pretty fun to go for and encourage you to explore the game more carefully. I ended up completing 100% of them.

Most of them involve doing specific actions or collecting things during the game. None of them are insanely difficult but they do require some attention and a bit of effort.

Once you finish the story the game unlocks a chapter select menu. This makes it very easy to go back to specific parts of the game if you missed a collectible or skipped an achievement during your first run. Because of that getting full completion feels fair and totally doable.

[h2] Final Thoughts [/h2]
This game is honestly just a really fun ride. The mix of absurd humor, creative environments and the way the player is inserted into the world makes the whole experience stand out in VR.

If you like the kind of humor that comes from the creator of Rick and Morty, this game is basically a full plate for you. The dialogue and story moments lean heavily into that chaotic style.

Even for someone like me who is not the biggest fan of Justin Roiland's style, the game is still fantastic and never feels boring.

This is easily one of the best VR games out there. The only real downside is the DLC. Even though it is fun and completely free, it can feel a bit disappointing because several areas look like they should be explorable but never actually open. The game even jokes about unlocking a second floor that never becomes accessible.

Still, that small frustration does not take away from how good the overall experience is. If you enjoy VR and like weird comedy games, this one is absolutely worth playing.

Its not awful and barely gets a "not recommend". Its a Rick and Morty style humor game. Theres tons of profanity, its funny sometimes but theres parts you need to sit there for 5 min of an NPC talking, and I regularly would just let the dialogue go while going to another room and getting something productive done as you can't skip any of the dialogue. The story is meh. The main issue is the controls. The game was originally a VR game and honestly if I would have played it that way it may have been more enjoyable, but playing with traditionally its just not fun. You have a controller controlling the camera that has to slowly warp around levels and follow Trover around, while also controlling Trover. I haven't played a VR game non-VR before so I don't know if this normal, but its just wayyyy too slow and clunky. It would have been much more fun to just have been Trover in 3rd person mode. The combat is super basic, with a roll button that can't interrupt attacks so its less helpful, a standard attack, and a heavy attack you get 50% into the game. The camera gets a few abilities but not too interesting ones as well. Thats about the game, you run around fighting 4 different enemy types with standard attack button and then solve some puzzles with the camera. The worlds and characters are unique but its kind of boring, repetitive, and just too clunky. AGAIN DISREGARD THIS REVIEW IF YOU"RE PLAYING THE GAME VR. 6/10.

Coole Story und guter derber Humor.
Gut dass ich das Spiel reduziert bekommen habe, da es, für den vollen Preis von 25€, doch etwas kurz ist.
Aber nicht des zu trotz sehr zu empfehlen, vor allem, wenn man die Stimmen von Rick und Morty gerne hört und den Humor wie in den interdementionalen-Fernsehen-Folgen mag.
Die Grafik/Style ist auch fantastisch.

Compared to High On Life it's 50/50.
Some of the humor is better and some of it is worse.
There's so much extra dialogue here if you just stand around and let every npc ramble it's actually kinda amazing that they sat there and recorded it all even as a joke.
I really enjoyed it compared to some of the other crap I've been playing recently. It's a shame Justin Roiland got harassed out of the industry.

If you like Rick and Morty humor, this is a game you would likely enjoy. The actual gameplay is alright surprisingly, and unlike a lot of comedic games it isn't a buggy mess.

This game did not crash a single time, which is impressive with the current video game scene, and is fully playable with controller so you can just lie back and enjoy it.

For people struggling to open the game, force it out of VR mode. For some reason VR mode will cause it to crash randomly instead of starting even if you specifically select non-vr mode at startup. Just open properties and add this to the opening command field. "-novr"

Minor spoilers for if you haven't played or finished the game yet and would like to skip some tedium and really enjoy the game -

If I were to play it again, I would skip the collectables as they are kind of tedious, and aren't really linked to extra content aside from a single joke at the end. I probably spent double the time playing the game to get all of them for the joke at the end, and it was funny but wasn't worth it. If you are reading this and haven't completed the game to get the joke, I very strongly recommend looking up the joke in question to see it to save you almost 90% of the tedium in the game.

Also, the button puzzle in the first level is in fact, impossible. That is the joke. I spent maybe 20 minutes mapping all the possible combinations to figure this for sure, and some people online say it is possible but it's really just a joke. This is shown later in the game as well but I won't go into details to avoid ruining any jokes in advance.

I played the VR version of this game quite some time ago, but there are a few things to say.

If you absolutely cannot stand Justin Roiland, don't play this game. Squanch Games have moved on from him and that's a good thing, but his involvement in this title was over-indulgent. His dialogues in this game are just totally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ endless.

If you can look past Roiland's endless prattling and look at this game a little more objectively, it's alright. Some of the platforming is difficult but from a gameplay perspective it's just alright.

The things I liked the most were the subtle interactions the game asked you to perform with the VR headset. Games in which they ask you to shake your head yes or no in order to respond to a prompt? Yes please! I want more of this in VR games, and Squanch was super smart to include this.

Artistically, this is an interesting looking game. The designs are certainly unique.

In terms of price, I think I got this game through a Humble Bundle discount pack and you should too if you want to play it. I wouldn't say that this game is exactly representative of Rick and Morty, but if you can look past the endless mental dribble of Justin Roiland and you're looking for a decent VR title, then give it a go.

O jogo é muito bom (apesar de simples na gameplay) pela maior parte, mas quando vai chegando um pouco depois da metade, já vai cansando e ficando repetitivo e até a historia e diálogos malucos e comentários sobre tudo que acontece na tela vão ficando menos criativos e começam a diminuir ou se repetir.

O jogo até valeu a pena por ter custado R$ 11 kkk

Eu estou tendo um Bug em que as texturas em uma das ultimas áreas (ou é a ultima, não zerei ainda) ficam em baixa resolução e simples.
OBS: na reta final, na glorkon's base, o jogo ta todo bugado, eu resolvi o bug de textura colocando as texturas no epico, mas agora eu to com um bug onde as portas com um puzzle não abrem. Eu to pra desistir de terminar o jogo kkkk

Titre : Justin Roiland a mis tout son génie dans ce jeu – j'ai pas arrêté de rire

Ok franchement Trover Saves the Universe c'est un des jeux les plus fun que j'ai jamais joué. T'es assis dans une chaise (oui vraiment, c'est ton personnage) et tu contrôles Trover, ce petit blob violet chelou, pour sauver l'univers et récupérer tes deux petits chiens qu'un alien psychopathe a mis dans ses orbites. Et c'est clairement écrit par Justin Roiland le co-créateur de Rick and Morty parce que putain c'est DRÔLE. Comme VRAIMENT drôle. Le genre de drôle où tu ris à haute voix seul devant ton ordi et tes voisins te prennent pour un fou.

😂 Ce qui tue vraiment :
🎤 L'humour est juste... parfait
Les dialogues c'est du pur Justin Roiland – du vulgar, de l'absurde, des blagues constantes. Les personnages tu peux les laisser parler pendant MINUTES et c'est hilarant à chaque fois. J'ai eu un moment où j'étais supposé faire un truc de story et le mec me parle pendant genre 5 minutes sur un sujet random complètement, tu me dis c'est pas drôle. Et c'est pas cheap drôle – c'est vraiment écrit avec du cœur et du craft.

Y a ce shopkeeper qui devient ton ami et tu dois tuer ses "bêtes" pour continuer. Tu les tues, tu reviens, et il commence à PLEURER parce que c'était ses animaux de compagnie. C'est du dark humor débile mais tellement bien exécuté que t'es déstabilisé pendant 5 minutes.

🎮 Le gameplay c'est chill mais ça marche
C'est pas compliqué – tu platformes, tu fights des ennemis, tu résous des puzzles – mais ça marche bien. Tu débloques des pouvoirs, Trover dégaine son épée laser, tu progresses. C'est pas révolutionnaire mais honnêtement c'est pas le point. Le point c'est les blagues et ça marche tellement bien que tu oublies que le gameplay est basique. Tu es juste là pour voir ce que Justin va dire next.

🪑 Le concept du "tu es dans une chaise" c'est absurde
T'es une créature aliène enfermée dans une chaise et tu contrôles Trover via une télécommande. C'est débile sur le papier mais ça marche GRAVE bien dans le jeu. Les niveaux se construisent autour – tu déplaces ta chaise, tu upgrades ta chaise (oui vraiment), tu as des buttons pour claquer tes mains. C'est ridicule mais c'est fun à un niveau que je peux pas vraiment expliquer.

🌎 Les mondes sont chelous et créatifs
Chaque planète est plus délire que la précédente. Des mondes souterrains bizarres, des dimensions étranges, des PNJs qui ont leurs propres stories. L'art c'est beau, les designs sont uniques. Tu explores et tu veux continuer juste pour voir ce qu'il y a next.

🐕 L'histoire c'est simple mais touchante
Tes deux chiens se sont fait suck dans les orbites d'un alien. C'est stupide mais ça te motive à continuer. Et à mesure que tu progresses tu réalises qu'il y a une vrai story derrière qui est genuinely moving. C'est fou qu'un jeu si silly ait des moments où tu es genuinely émotionnel.

🎙️ Les voix c'est dingue
Justin Roiland voice presque tous les persos et tu le sens. Chaque voix est distincte et hilare. Ces nasally voices qu'on adore de Rick and Morty ? Elles sont ici aussi et ça rend tout meilleur.

⚠️ Le seul truc :
Si t'es pas fan de l'humour Justin Roiland tu vas pas kiffer. L'humour c'est très spécifique – vulgar, absurde, dark parfois. Si t'aimes pas ce style c'est pas pour toi. Mais si tu aimes Rick and Morty ou juste l'absurde en général ? T'es bon.

C'est pas super long – genre 8-10h pour finir. Mais franchement mieux court et parfait que long et boring.

🏆 Verdict :
Trover Saves the Universe c'est un jeu que tu dois absolument jouer si tu aimes l'humour et les jeux fun. Justin Roiland a versé son génie pur là-dedans et ça paraît. Tu vas rire, tu vas progresser, tu vas te connecter aux personnages, et tu vas finir avec un sourire sur la gueule.

C'est rare qu'un jeu te fasse rire autant. Celui-ci le fait. Honnêtement buy it, tu vas pas le regretter.

Trover Saves the Universe, créé par les auteurs de Rick & Morty, nous plonge dans un univers complètement déjanté où le personnage que l’on contrôle fait toutes les actions à notre place. Le concept est à la fois original et hilarant, et chaque situation est plus absurde que la précédente.

L’histoire, bien que simple, est ultra fun : tout ça pour sauver nos pauvres petits chiens que l’antagoniste a envoyés dans ses orbites. Les dialogues et les interactions sont truffés d’humour noir et absurde, typique de l’équipe derrière Rick & Morty, et rendent chaque moment vraiment mémorable.

Le seul point négatif rencontré est technique : le jeu ne se lançait pas automatiquement et il a fallu renseigner une ligne de code pour le démarrer, ce qui peut être frustrant pour certains joueurs.

Trover Saves the Universe est un jeu barré, hilarant et addictif, parfait pour les amateurs d’humour absurde et d’aventures originales. Une expérience qu’il faut vivre pour comprendre à quel point elle est folle.

Это типа... окей?

Ну то есть... геймплейно слабее любого хорошего экшна на первую плейстейшн, например Kingsley's Adventure (1999) ‑ максимально детская игра, но челленжа в ней больше в разы - в TStU за весьма короткое прохождение до боли линейных уровней я даже ни разу не умер и, несмотря на попытку разбавить игру пространственными загадками, быстро заскучал от тупого закликивания не менее тупых врагов.

Далее - фоном постоянно кто-то (Джастин Ройланд, создатель Рика и Морти) пиздит: во время бега, боя, бездействия, между уровнями... ВСЕГДА. Где-то получается смешно, где-то не очень, потому что почти все диалоги явная импровизация ван тейком (актёр запинается и иногда даже подрофливает), местами кажется, что находишься в неснятом фильме Светланы Басковой и слушаешь Пахома. По мне эти бесконечные диалоги нормально дополняют унылый геймплей и удерживают внимание: и руки заняты, и уши что-то воспринимают.

И получается так, что без геймплея, но с хорошей редакцией текстов, мы получим Рика и Морти, а без текстов, мы получим абсолютно заурядную игру, которая выглядит неинтересно даже на фоне игр прошлых поколений. Короче сталкиваемся с тем, с чем сталкивались уже много раз: медийная личность попробовала в геймдев. Нам известны рофлан игры от Мэддисона, от AVGNa, от Гоблина Пучкова в конце концов... Да, они находят в себе характерный почерк этих людей, но как игры это максимум проходняк.

Скажу честно, мне было прикольно, я считаю Ройланда очень талантливым человеком, несмотря на то что по мне в юморе Рика и Морти есть свои минусы, даже длц с кайфом прошёл, но... именно как игра с ИГРОВЫМ ПРОЦЕССОМ это несерьёзно.

Довольно средний платформер с механикой "угасающего полёта" (как в Astro bot) и 1-кнопочной боёвкой на мечах, от тогда ещё начинающей студии Джастина Ройланда, визуально такие базовые инопланетные миры уже нейросеть может нагенерить, а фишка с бесконечной болтовнёй и пытающимся выбесить игрока юмором гораздо лучше работает в будущем "High on Life",
Но это всё равно одна из лучших имплементаций жанра для VR-шлема, если таковой у вас имеется, вы можете играть как на джойстике, так и на контроллерах на диване по Wi-Fi, хотя ваш персонаж всё равно будет держать в руках геймпад и сидеть в кресле, перемещение вертикальное, вы можете подниматься выше или ниже, чтобы расширять обзор за персонажем Тровера (которого можно кидать со скал), или взглядом выцеливать существ-коллектиблсов.

Game is fine but has not much to offer.
Combat is barebone, gameplay is a typical platformer with not much twist added to it.
You get the Rick and Morty vibe which is obviously what you seek in this game but after completing it I noticed it barely made me chuckle a couple times.
Oh and I had to look up for a console command to actually launch it so downvote well deserved.

If you like season 1 of Rick & Morty, season 1 in particular. Then this is your dream game.
It's got that signature ad lib and crude humor all throughout.

I didn't play this in VR and I never really felt like VR was in any way required to get more out of the game, it works well on a controller.

The gameplay is a bit strange as you're playing the camera guy and the titular character Trover at the same time. You can move up and down and pick up and throw stuff as the camera guy.

But your actual movement and combat is done with Trover who controls like a traditional video game character.
The only way to move the camera guy around is to activate pads on the ground you teleport to.

The actual combat is pretty braindead easy and the only time it's slightly challenging is the final boss, but only because the game swarms a bunch of enemies on you and you can easily stunlock yourself hitting the wrong enemy and getting hit during the recovery animation.

The highlight of the game is that it all feels completely ad libbed, just the like intergalactic cable episodes in Rick & Morty. Just about every single dialogue section in this game has 1-2 minute of required listening before you can progress but about 6+ minutes total if you just stick around and listen to them talk.
It's a lot of talking and you will sit and listen a lot more than you'll actually be playing.

Not all the dialogue is amazing and sometimes they really couldn't come up with anything interesting to say, so a few times it just devolves into them repeating themselves in different ways or screaming ♥♥♥ and AIDS over and over again for a few minutes.

If you like Justin Roiland's brand of humor then this is a gold mine of jokes and silly scenarios.
But if you can't stand the humor then this game has literally nothing to offer you.

If you enjoy rick and morty for the social commentary, you won't find much of that here. If you enjoy lots of crude jokes and toilet humor this game is basically just that the whole way through. It's all just sort of adlib writing, so if you're into that you might enjoy it.

Having said that, the gameplay is solid and the mechanics of the game are a bit different and interesting. So if you just wanna try something goofy and enjoy platformers you might get some enjoyment there. The music isn't bad either and suits the game well. If you're curious get it on sale.

It's an interesting concept of having a VR platformer, but in a Second Person Perspective.
You can get used to it easily, and the it's a decent game at it.
Fights are easy, the puzzles are fun but easy too, but not in the bad way.
Overall, gameplay is actually fun and well put together.

However....
I love Rick and Morty, watched it over and over, find it funny, this, this is not funny, it's forced.
Recording sounds half asked and rushed, just as the writing.
And most of the characters are just annoying...

It's like a game where a guy in a chair steers another guy, the important guy, around a world. Well, actually it's a whole bunch of worlds. There's like Flesh World and all those worlds where you get little green guys, and you can electrocute a guy in a bath. Wait, is that a spoiler? If that's a spoiler then my bad, but it doesn't really spoil anything because y'know, there's so many other things to do. Because, like, you have to get your dogs back from the bad guy's eyes, but he's in love or something. Should I stop now because of spoilers? Wait, this game's been out for like 6 years and if you don't know by now. I mean Jeez, how long are we supposed to pretend anyone new wants to play this game? You probably downloaded it somewhere else, like from the witches or the Gamepass thing. I don't know, is it on GOG? It's probably on GOG, right? And PlayStation, because of the VR thing, right? But you don't need to have a VR thing, because who actually has one, right? It's just not necessary to enjoy this game. Just collect the green babies and keep bashing everything in sight. Or you can stomp on bad guys when you bounce. Yeah, there's a lotta bad guys in this game, and a guy in a wheel chair, because of diversity, but he's actually not a nice guy. He really takes advantage of his situation.

N'ayant pas de casque VR, je me suis contenté d'une pauvre manette. Le jeu est correct dans sa réalisation en terme de mécaniques, mais entre l'écriture médiocre et le doublage infernal j'ai cru que j'allais devenir fou. Au bout de 1h j'ai coupe le son du jeu complètement et mis de la musique en parallèle.
Quelques succès marrant et la possibilité de refaire les niveaux pour récupérer les derniers bébés...
Il y a un DLC gratuit qui ajoute quelque niveaux, mais je me suis déjà barré.

Однозначно рекомендую! Прошёл игру за 7 часов. Очень необычный геймплей - ты сидишь на месте, смотришь со стороны и управляешь героем через геймпад. По ходу прохождения хватает шуток и приколов в фирменном стиле создателей «Рика и Морти». Особенно я угарнул в конце игры с последним "действием". Опыт получился свежим, весёлым и запоминающимся.
