In The Watchmaker, a puzzle-adventure game, players take on the role of Alexander. In his steampunk world of giant clock mechanisms, Alexander's routine involves repairing his precious clock tower every day and for years, this is the only life he has known.

[h3]UPDATE:[/h3] The current "Ultimate" version is still BROKEN and ABANDONED BUT there is a workaround to fix it and be able to actually finish it, if you're curious to try it or you can't refund anymore.
You need to download an older version and replace the current one with it. It will involve opening the Steam console and use the respective code from depot id to get it. There are several tutorials on Youtube if you want more details.
Despite the fix the game is not really worth the trouble anyway, even on a sale. It is still janky, the writing of the dialogue is kinda weird and the puzzles don't take advantage of the time powers enough.

If you are new to gaming and love puzzlers or have a kid that you are struggling to find PG content for then this will do for you. For me it made me motion sick and refused to stay fullscreen even with console commands bc it resets on death. Even if it didn't, there isn't enough going on here to justify my time.

Задумка неплоха, жанр игры стимпанк + управление временем но вот все что связано с переносом на PC это нет слов.Чтобы играть используя клавиатуру и мышку это никак, в настройках чисто на геймпад управление игрой.Я играл по ходу обучения, узнавая и запоминая на какую кнопку что использовать. Впервые вижу игру,где можно умереть от старости,если не успеть сбросить несколько десятков лет...

I liked the steampunk style and the concept of aging and de-aging your character, but I don't think this game is well made. The level layouts are confusing, the controls seem finicky, and enemy behavior is not well-designed. I made it to level 2 and had to give up. I've tried to play this multiple times since I bought it, and I think I get stuck at the same spot every time and don't have to motivation to figure it out or even look up the solution.

The main menu doesn't offer an Exit button. That's the level of polish you can expect.

Despite a strangely long loading time, the starting level is ugly and poorly designed.
It also means poor visibility, orientation issues, that sort of things.
The 3rd person view uses an unpleasant camera, causing a degree of motion sickness,
Options include a FOV slider (yet no resolutions selection,) however it's clamped between 80 and 100.
If this slider works, which I'm not sure it does, it's not enough.

The platforming is what you'd expect with such a camera and moving platforms: low quality, the opposite of awesome.
Save system is subpar, even by checkpoints standards, because I'm lost when respawned.

Finally, the gameplay wants me to rush.
Apparently we are on a timer.
This is usually enough to get a thumb down or two, yet here it's particularly baffling as it defeats the purposes of the advertised time manipulation mechanics.
Also, rush into motion sickness ? I'll pass.

The Watchmaker é um jogo de ação / aventura em terceira pessoa onde você controla Alexander e deve reparar a torre do relógio e descobrir / parar quem está tentando destruí-la. A ideia do jogo é muito legal (a vida do seu personagem é baseada em anos, e se você chegar nos 90 anos você morre), mas infelizmente só a ideia é boa, porque a execução não foi tão boa assim (o jogo tem alguns bugs que atrapalham bastante a diversão):

- Se você cair de certa altura (mesmo que pequena) você morre instantaneamente;
- As vezes seus golpes não carregam (logo, você não consegue matar os inimigos);
- Acontecem alguns bugs de vídeo bem estranhos durante as telas de carregamento;
- Alguns npc's simplesmente não se movimentam como deveriam (o que força você a ficar reiniciando o game para tentar resolver o problema);
- Algumas conquistas estão meio que bugadas (tem que fazer varias vezes o requisito para consegui-las);
- Bugs de terreno (ficar preso e tal)... entre outros.

Resumindo... The Watchmaker é um game bom e até da pra terminar, mas devido a estes problemas fica um pouco chato joga-lo até o final. Nota 3.5/10. Recomendo!

J'avais pris ce jeu dès sa sortie car le concept d'un puzzle game avec l'age du personnage qui change pouvais être intéressant. Dès la sortie du jeu, je ne pouvais pas jouer car le jeu se fermait automatiquement, j'ai attendu patiemment des mises à jour réglant se problème, mais lorsque j'ai enfin pu démarrer le jeu celui-ci buguait dès la première énigme. Je me retrouve aujourd'hui des années après la sortie et le jeu n'est toujours pas dans un état convenable:
- bug de caméra : la caméra se retrouve en dehors de l'arène du premier boss
- bug son : la musique s'arrête et ne repars jamais
- bug du gameplay : les ennemis n'ont plus de barre de vie; le boss n'inflige plus de dégâts, ce coince dans certaines phases
- on ne peut pas sortir du menu des paramètres avec le clavier/souris, obliger d'utiliser une manette
- on ne peut quitter le jeu qu'avec alt + F4 suite au dernier hotfix de février
- les succès ne se débloquent pas

Autant de bug que j'ai eu en 80min de jeu en 2022 alors que le jeu est sorti en 2018. Et je ne parle la que des bugs car on pourrais parler du fait qu'il n'y a pas d'indication pour savoir quand le jeu sauvegarde; que le jeu est simple mais l’imprécision des mouvements, des attaques, ou du magnétisme rend la prise en main frustrante. Les dialogues sont choisit au pire moment, le jeu subit des pertes de FPS visibles à l'oeil nu avec une 3090.

Je me suis arrêté de jouer après la cinématique ou l'on voit le grand méchant pour la première fois car je m'attendais à ce que le jeu donne envie de continuer, mais non, on avance sans but en résolvant tant bien que mal des "énigmes" (si on peut dire vu la simplicité du premier niveau) avec ces bugs incessant.

Autant d'attente et de patience pour un jeu qui n'a jamais été suivis par ses développeurs.
J'ai aussi remarqué que la plupart des commentaires positif n'avait pas passé beaucoup de temps sur le jeu et ne parlaient que de l'intrigue de base, je me demande si ce ne sont pas des faux commentaires pour aider à faire vendre le jeu.

Amazing game but glitches make it borderline unplayable

edit: Just had to restart The Whole Game since it softlocked itself. The golem who im supposed to bait wont chase me. Its a shame since I really like this game and am even replaying it. If you are going to make a game this broken at least let me load multiple savepoints back or at least add a restart stage button. Also the menus dont work properly using keyboard. And the controls menu only has controller buttons (not keyboard). Also dont put voicelines right before cutscene triggers because then the voicelines just cut off.

edit 2: after replaying the first few levels, one of the golems is still frozen slamming the floor and wont chase me, hence there is no way to progress. The first time I played this game years ago it was borderline unplayable, but now its fully unplayable.

edit 3: Seems none of the enemies in the game attack anymore, as well as a few other glitches that make it so I actually can't finish the game anymore

3/10 was looking forward to playing this game all the way to the end. Its got interesting gamplay mechanics. Slow down/rewind time, force push things flying, lift things with the power of magnets. cant finish the game....
Drawbridges that need to be pushed down and they just don't work, none of them.

I can't recommend the game. I wanted to play it on a WIndows 10 Pc, unfortunately I can't get full screen and in the game itself there is no way to change the resolution in the settings. The game went out of full screen on every state and only took up 50% of my screen

Zaman yavaşlatma, geriye alma, arada bir düşmanlara ateş etme, nesneleri taşıma özellikleriyle bulmaca çözmeye başlıyorsunuz. Aynı zamanda belirli bir zaman aralığı içerisinde ilerleyemezseniz ölüyorsunuz. Çok farklı bir sistemi var oynayıp görmeniz lazım. Yani bir yandan hızlı oynayıp bir yandan bulmacaları çözüp ilerlemeniz gerekiyor. Oyun ilerledikçe farklı ve beyin yakan bulmacalar gelmeye başlıyor. Kontrol oynanış basit rahat. Grafikler ses ve atmosfer 2005 li yılların teknolojisi ve tasarımı. Çok ayrıntı yok. Ben beğendim ama günümüz oyunlarının içerisinde bayağı bir vasat kalıyor doğal olarak...

Bu tarzı sevenler için farklı bir deneyimle hoş vakit geçirtir fakat artık steam de satışı yok.

Initially I was put off by the idea of having a puzzle game built around a ticking clock, but the timer itself seems to be forgotten near instantly. The timer in question ticks at an incredibly slow rate and with so many ways of turning back the clock, I stopped noticing the number halfway through the first level. And I want to make it clear that this is no humble brag about how good I am at the game. The game throws so many checkpoints, usable items, and floating orbs at you (all of which run back the counter) that even if you play with your feet, I would be shocked if you didn’t have to walk passed them at least once.
The real issue with the game is the lack of context and feedback. Each time you press a button you have to figure out what it activates and if you have to hold it or press it. Each time you see a magnet symbol you have to figure out if it is there to push, pull, or move on top of figuring out its part to play in the given puzzle. The enemies especially confuse me, using gas attacks that cause you to take damage and cough… Except when you cough without damage or get damaged with coughing or cough without getting hit and… You get the idea.
The boss at the end of the first level was particularly confusing. Before the fight you are given a tutorial prompt on how to throw objects. The fight then starts and there are no objects to throw. There is an enemy (Who doesn’t take damage from the attack you’ve been using to exclusively deal with enemies up until this point) and there are three identical, magnetic clamps on the ground that cannot be interacted with at this time… not that you would know that as they glow to indicate that you should be able to use them. Meanwhile as you try to figure out why they won’t move, the boss routinely pushes you away and makes you cough, leading (at least myself) to the conclusion that he was interrupting the animation and I needed to try again.
As it turns out, you are supposed to beat him by doing the following:
[spoiler]1. Avoid going near him (where the only interactable objects are)
2. Run out the clock (as your health ticks away) while avoiding damage until he launches an explosive.
3. Pick up that explosive and launch it at him. (There may be multiple explosives, but you only need one)
4. While the boss is stunned, the magnetic clamps from before can now be interacted with. Pull them back and the platform the boss is on raises… Killing him for some reason. [/spoiler]
The mechanics themselves are fairly standard. Avoid attacks until the weakness reveals itself, throw item back at boss, damage time, repeat two more times, victory. You have seen it before a thousand times. The issue the game not only fails to properly contextualize the actions required of you, but also, accidentally, trains you to do the exact opposite.
Here are a few things the devs could do to properly fix this issue.
1. Before the fight begins, have the door to the fight be opened by launching a nearby item at it. Forcing the player to prove they understand the skill.
2. Have pronounced and plainly visible powerlines running along the floor to the enemy. They start off unpowered, but glow once the boss is activated. These will replace the clamps (as the clamps themselves, other than being interactable, do not suggest any negative effects toward the boss.)
3. In the cutscene, have the protagonist try attacking the boss and fail to show that normal attacks will not work. (Or alternatively now a unique animation and/or a voice line for when the player attempts to attack the boss to clearly define the bosses invulnerability)
4. Have a bomb immediately launched by the boss so the protagonist can throw it back and stun them. Then immediately have protagonist use his magnetic powers to unhook one of the power lines, the line going dead and the boss reacting negatively, slapping away the protagonist with the exact move he will use should you get too close.
There, with just a small tweak to the level geometry and a few extra seconds of alternative scenes, the player now has all the information they need to fight the boss and can focus on learning and avoiding the attack patterns without having to throw life away in a bout of trial and error. Of course, this is only one solution and there are many others.

With all this stated, the game has a clear direction and obviously has talent behind it. The start is rough, but I am looking forward to future titles that might avoid this one's mistakes.

Wasted Watchmaker Potential.

There are a few solid mechanics in the game, and the art direction is somewhat presentable, however the general puzzle design, combat and the bugs make this a journey not worth taking.

The game's main gimmick is the fact that the player character is rapidly aging. This puts every aspect of the game on a timer. If you don't like time based puzzles, avoid this like the plague. ...and even if you like puzzles, be prepared for some of the worst puzzle designs. There is usually no feedback when you do something and when there is, it's hard to figure out how that benefits you at all. The game is incredibly buggy too, so half the time I am not even sure if the puzzle is solved or the game bugged out. My favorite one was a 5 minute puzzle that teleported me out of bonds in its last stage. There is no way I am completing that again, so I just uninstalled the game.

There is combat, but it's basically just press one button while facing the enemy. It's laughable that the game wants me to fight bosses with lackluster and clunky mechanics like that.

The character design is perhaps the only area the game shines. Unfortunately, that does not extend to the animations, which feel like someone's first time in Blender.

Same could be said about the story which is entirely dialogue based and only happens at select places, for example during combat or jumping puzzles, you know during times you are focusing on something else.

The general game design leaves a lot to be desired as well. There is no sense of direction or guiding force, so often I was lost and uncertain what I should be doing. This would be okay in some other game, but here there is an added time pressure.

I can't recommend this broken mess of a game. I expected an at least functional experience.

Unfortunately this game suffers from major issues, graphical settings don't stay set, every level, every time I played again I needed to set everything up in options, it jumps in and out of window mode which screws the game up.. I had to control alt delete myself to desktop 10 times in less then an hour..

Puzzles do seem fun though I am not a fan of the pressure count down..

The game has a great visual art style but you would be missing it trying to run through the game as your life depletes quickly..

The opening cinematic made me cringe..

where is he.. I have been searching an eternity for him..(3 seconds later) lets check this room here... oh there you are Alexander.. **then you get an achievement**

Giving a bit of context, I saw ads for this game on facebook during early 2018, because I was excited to see that a game made in my country (Chile) was getting local newspaper attention and I liked the concept itself, I decided to buy the game.

The concept is pretty cool and the story, although told terribly by the game itself, is quite charming and intelligent if you read the collectibles available on your inventory.

Sadly, it's a complete disappointment and a mess all around, with issues such as:

- [b]The game's mechanics are broken[/b]. There's barely any response to any attacks the protagonist receives during the game and these either do nothing, very little damage, or completely wipe you out, there's no metric to know how much damage you are receiving aside the age gauge which, even by being a core mechanic, is pretty vague, easy to cheese, and hardly used throughout the game itself.
Funnily enough this age system is crappy in a lot of ways since a lot of enemies 1 hit K.O. you, therefore it doesn't really matter if you age or not, this system has no major uses during the game too, aside moving differently when you are older, it isn't really "bad" to age, specially considering how easy it is to dismiss this mechanic entirely if you kill enemies regularly or just spam keys and checkpoints to regain age.
The player's own time mechanics are fun for a while but they are buggy, for example the time stop doesn't really -STOP- time, and a lot of objects (basically anything that moves) still move in very irregular patterns, making platforming difficult as heck. Time rewind is also buggy and works in different durations, sometimes you can rewind for like 30 seconds, other times you get stopped at 2 seconds and instantly die, there's no telling on how the mechanic works.

- [b]Collectibles and achievements are broken[/b]. After playing 2 times throughout the game (the second being a bugged version of the first in which the puzzles I did before where half done, therefore I didn't have to play the game all over, thank god), I noticed that the player only receives 3 out of the 4 available papyrus collectibles, can only collect 21 out of 26 watches (all the watch achievements, including the "all watches" one unlocks at 20 watches) and there's a letter that the player never finds and was automatically given to me during the 2nd buggy playthrough. The "Ghost Whisperer" achievement is broken as a whole as well.

- [b]The game is TERRIBLY optimized[/b]. The game has constant FPS dips and specially during the last level the performance TANKS. From all the game's I've completed and currently play this is one of the most demanding ones despite it's simple aesthetic.

Don't buy this game unless the developers fix the bugs and improve upon the game, it CLEARLY needs more polish and considering this game hasn't been updated in over a year, I doubt it will get better anytime soon.

Bueno, en aspectos de música y diseño del modelado es bonito el juego. lastimosamente durante el transcurso se encuentran con pequeños bugs molestos o zonas con tiempos muy justos de reacción. I was expecting a decent adventure from this game, but what I got was a buggy loading screen simulator. Every time I first launch the game, it freezes on the loading screen and I have to relaunch it. Once I relaunch it, I am able to reach the main menu and click "Continue", which greets me with a loading screen that once again never completes. So what do we do? Relaunch the game again. The third time I'm finally able to enter the actual game. Great.

I've only played like an hour or so of the actual game plus an hour of loading screens, so it's very likely I haven't seen most of this game. What I have seen in that hour, however, was not something I would call an interesting game. Nothing is really explained, stuff like who you really are, where you are, why you are here is all left out, you're only given some random directions to go find some supposed villain we know nothing about before it's too late. Well maybe things would become more clear later on.

The next time I turn on this game, I'm once again harassed by the loading screen hell, but I pull through and get to play the game. I then encountered some game-breaking bug which caused an essential piece of a puzzle to get stuck in its place. I tried killing myself, but that didn't help. Okay then, maybe I'll go back to the menu to restart from the checkpoint. So I click "Exit to menu" and find myself staring at yet another identical loading screen for at least three minutes. This is when I gave up on The Watchmaker. I mean, it's not like I have a state-of-the-art gaming rig here, but it can certainly play some games which are much more demanding than this, so having to wait ages to reach the main menu is absurd in my book. I believe the devs really put a lot of effort into The Watchmaker because it didn't look mainstream to me, but I always find time a precious resource and I think it's better spent on something entertaining rather than an endless loading screen.

The Watchmaker is a 7/10 third-person puzzle game that's actually a 5/10 game due to all of the technical issues it has. Poor optimization, long loading times, and the general buginess makes it hard for me to recommend this game to anyone unless they're willing to put up with them and/or have a beefy PC to brute force better performance. It's a shame that it's like this too, because I'm a sucker for games with a steampunk aesthetic, and this game more than delivers on that front. The puzzles are actually pretty challenging, and the artsyle and graphics are good, if a bit lacking compared to other games.

Couldn't really play the game. Got some 25FPS even on lowest resolution and graphic settings, which made the game unplayable. For a comparison: the game "Youropa" runs with a steady 60+FPS with all sliders to the right, so I blame The Watchmaker and not my machine,

What really did it for me was that you can actually lose quest objects (like the battery) which then never return, so you break the game :(

While there is a lot to like about The Watchmaker, there is also a lot wrong with it. I'm giving it a positive review because the developers have clearly put a lot of work into it and it has some really, really good aspects. Unlike many other reviewers here, going by the total time played at least, I actually completed the game. It took me 14 hours* because it is probably the most frustrating game I've ever played, but I think the good outweighs the bad, just about.

*Probably at least an hour of that time the game was running and paused as I watched a Youtube walkthrough, because the guy on the video (DL GAMER) also took a long time figuring out what to do!

GOOD:
The level design is incredible. As you can see from the screenshots, each level has its own unique style and layout. Some are really linear but others aren't and you have to work out where to go and what to do to progress.

The puzzles are really varied. As with the level design, a lot of thought has been put into the puzzles, with the solutions to most not that obvious. One genius section in particular has an obvious-when-you-see-it clue but you will be stumped until you spot it.

Tied in with the puzzles is the ability to use Time and Force in different ways to accomplish things and solve many of the puzzles throughout the game.

The graphics are lovely and the accompanying sound effects work really well most of the time, matching the expected sounds of the materials of the objects. The music was also really good, adding tension and atmosphere to the game.

There are collectibles tied to achievements which encourage exploration and add to replayability.

BAD:
Immediately on launching the game there is a black screen for a couple of minutes. This could easily make you think it has crashed. A simple LOADING... would help, but I think the game needs optimising overall.

I played with keyboard and mouse as I find it difficult to coordinate camera, movement and action on a controller. The single most frustrating thing I found was that, when trying to jump from one platform to the next, you fall more often than not and there seemed to be a lag in a time-rewind getting triggered, meaning you fall and die and have to restart at the last save. In many places, the fall distance is really short too meaning you just don't have time to rewind. They could easily have let you survive short falls with some damage.
This happened a LOT (same for the Youtube walkthrough guy - check it out, his reactions are really funny!).

Some of the puzzles are not intuitive and take a while to figure out. Even when you know the solution, sometimes they just don't behave as you expect or they are a bit buggy, resetting themselves to their default state, or you fall to your death unexpectedly.

Not much to complain about with the audio except sometimes it cut out for a short while.

There are a few boss fights throughout the game. Some of the early ones seemed frustrating until you come to the last two, which make the earlier ones seem easy. The final two boss battles can take far longer than expected/needed because you have to repeatedly run round trying to figure out what to do and there isn't a lot of visual feedback to let you know if what you're doing is right or not. Weirdly, you seem to be invinciblein the final battle as there's lots of spawning enemies that leave health pickups, and nothing kills you. The looping character audio doesn't help here either (same with many earlier puzzles too). Plus, you have to wait several minutes on a device to charge each time you want to use it.
By the way, that Youtuber got really close to completing the game but gave up in the end.

There are two endings but you have to replay the entire game to see whichever one you don't select first time round.

While there are collectibles tied to achievements encouraging replayability, and a second playthrough will be easier than my first, the overall frustration when playing the game makes it unlikely I'll do that.

VERDICT:
One of the most important aspects of game development is implementing feedback from players because, as devs tend to become too familiar with their own game and they way they play it, they often aren't aware of the issues until after release. It's a pity the devs haven't addressed the negatives and fixed these many issues. I'm sure if they did it would lead to better reviews and more sales.

Despite the frustrating gameplay, I enjoyed The Watchmaker.

Sadly I can not recomend this game despite its visual Style and interesting Ideas.

Everything feels clunky, unpolished and just barely working. The game might have been quite amazing if they focused it down way more instead of adding more and more seperat mechanics, concepts and so on.

To give you a overview over the Problems everywhere in the first two areas of the game:
-Controls feel unresponsive
-took me 5 Minutes to even get the game to start correctly
-unscippable logos
-Character moves slugish and unapealing
-Dangerous "Smoke" is unclear in it's range and effect, while still being the only weapon that everthing uses to hurt you
-Death resets large chunks of progress
-One Hit death if a jump is missed
-Pick ups are bugged, so the player can have an eternal supply of "time keys" just by running thorugh one pick up for days on end.
-Dialog is mediocre at best, and plain annoing at most
-No sense of direction at all, even with updates by the developers that aimed to fix this.
-Awefull pacing
-fake "stress" by constantly ticking down a timer that resets at every corner or so again.
-not enough tracks/music so it gets repetetive quite fast
-everything feels vast and empty
-All interaction with the world is unpolished and unintuitve, which forces textpromps to be present at EVERY interactable object that explain every button that can be pressed at this moment.
-environment feels cobled together without a real overall "design" most of the time.
-Letter Text does not fit with actual spoken Voiceacting of reading it. (several times in one letter.)

On the other hand there are also good parts, right?
-Artstyle is at least memorable, maybe even good and unique.
-The Riddle Mechanics are not bad on their own
-It feels like they tired their best
-Interface Design is quite good and working

Overall, the game in a twist of irony feels like it is wasting your time and wants to be way more than it actually is or ever could be.

玩不下去了，时不时的卡些莫名其妙的BUG出来（能源管子对接好了外面齿轮不转得退出重来，石头人砸那几个光球结果石头人不刷出来退出重来，有时候进那种传送门莫名其妙的就死了甚至卡在传送门贴图里）。然后在那4个颜色的传送门解谜那里放弃了，也许是我跟不上设计者的思路吧，完全没有觉得地上几个脚印有什么引导性，解谜类玩《塔洛斯的法则》玩的再烦躁最后也都能理解过来设计者的思路，这个我是真的直接在这里让我放弃了，也不想去理解设计思路了。说实话，刚上手的时候还是觉得不错的，第一个BOSS前整体节奏把控也都不错，整个路上一路前进跳跃障碍，思考机关，运用技能，维持年龄，挑战BOSS，综合所有东西一路上一气呵成给人的感觉就很舒坦，但第一个BOSS后接下来专门搞的解谜从拼不同维度的梯子那里开始就已经让游戏节奏开始脱节了，本来就已经有些摸不着头脑了，接着又继续那4个颜色的传送门解谜，搞了半天，你是用心设计了，但关键你让玩家找不到你的思路点，这才第2个解谜，还有一个我也懒得去想了，整个已经脱节了，从一个综合动作、技能、机关连接的游戏突然变成一个理解不到设计者思路费时费力的烧脑解谜游戏，打个比方就如同你前一关还在玩《时光之帽》突然下一关变成《塔洛斯的法则》一样，顿时前面铺垫出来对游戏接下来的兴趣瞬间荡然无存！难怪我说赶紧找个攻略把这里赶紧刷过去解脱掉都找不到一个，好吧，不想碰了，直接解脱了！

すちーむぱんくな世界に閉じ込められ加速する老化をアイテムで管理しつつパズルを解いて原因を探し出してやっつけよう！というゲームです。
Kickstarterで集金に失敗したけど途中まで作ったのが勿体なかったのか、ちゃんとリリースしてくれました。
主人公であるアレキサンダーは磁力を操り、その力で物を持ち上げたり装置を動かしたりしてパズルを解きます。
世界観は悪くないんですが以下のような残念な点からおススメはできません。
・かなり重い。起動してからゲームをプレイするまでに結構待たされる
・ロード中にフリーズすることが多々ある
・フラグ管理が雑。死んだらチェックポイントまで戻されるが、解いたギミックがリセットされていることがある
・パズルが直感的でなく、そもそも何をすればいいのか分からないことが多い
あと少々ボリューム不足感あります。
パズル解いてる間は長く感じますが、話だけを振り返ってみると大した話の展開もなくオチもよくないので、もう少しなんとかならんかったのか…という気分です。
300円くらいが適正価格かと。

Une déception avec le temps.
L'idée d'utiliser le temps pour avancer est bonne, mais je sais pas si ce sont des bugs, mais j'ai souvent perdu du temps alors que je revenais à la station de régénération, mais je perdais 10-15 ou 20 ans 'un coup. et donc l'énigme suivante ne pouvait pas être terminée car la difficulté augmentant régulièrement on se retrouve face à des puzzles importants ou des zones dangereuses pour laquelle sprinter ne sert à rien. et on meurt de vieillesse car on n'avait pas assez de temps au début.

This is game was fun. It an 8-15h game top. A lot of glitch, glitch that you will have to quit the game and cone back because just to die won’t do it. They should add an option restart from last checkpoint it mind be easier to fix some of those glitch.

Esse jogo é feito para quem gosta de jogos de Puzzle, o jogo está em Inglês, é bom que saíba pelo menos o básico.
O jogo se passa com o personagem Alexander, que cuida de uma torre feita por ele mesmo (Mesmo sem ele se lembrar como), a terre foi sabotada e deixa o tempo de vida de Alexander louco, perdendo anos de vida em minutos. O jogo mescla ação com puzzle, tendo em vista que, você não terá tempo de análisar os puzzles calmamente, tem que sair resolvendo de "cara" já.

Game introduced the rewind time mechanic but the bridge that fell didn't come back and I couldn't progress. This is less than 5 min into the game. Also horribly opitimized with a 3-5 minute initial load screen before even getting to the main menu. Takes less time to refund the game which I'll be doing, sadly. The art is appealing and the concept interesting but utterly wasted with shoddy programming.

Какие-то дикие требования для пазла. Забыл при покупке посмотреть требования и в результате игра при запуске чуть не убила мне ноут. Притом не увидел даже в главном экране каких-то графических изысков. Ноут при запуске у меня намертво завис и впервые за всё время установки систему пришлось выключать принудительно, что делать крайне не люблю. Ну вроде народу нравится... А мне придётся ждать оптимизации. Нереально загружает систему. На слабом железе тут делать нечего и на ноутах игру лучше не запускать.

"I Feel like I could solve everything in this place!"

The Watchmaker it's an adventure, puzzle-action themed game that tells you the story of Alexander (The protagonist), who tries to find the saboteur of the tower with the help of Thomas, the little light you see at the very beginning.

The game gets harder with every puzzle you resolve, and also more complex, I can recommend everyone to try it out, and it's normal if you get stuck in one world, just keep trying and you'll eventually make it.

And also, you can see the backstories of the characters, like, what happened before you wake up at the beginning, and you can gather different notes through the game that tell you the studies and creations of Alexander, it's recommended to pay attention to those if you want to know what happened, and what makes you want so much to find the saboteur, and also the truth.

There's boss fights too, they are very fun, but you need to learn first what to do so you can beat the boss you are currently fighting.

The time manipulation controls are very fun to use, and you are going to need those if you want to progress, just know when to use them and you'll be fine.

In general it's an amazing game, well made and also well-worked in all the years that it took to make, I can recommend it to any kind of person who wants to play and try it out.

The Watchmaker looks cool with its expansive clocktower environment, beutifully crafted in a semi steampunk / cartoon style. All the different parts that make up this enormous tower present a fun platforming challenge while the manipulation of said parts makes for enjoyable and, at times, quite challenging puzzles. And although the game might not be for anyone, it is a fun experience for those among you that enjoy a good puzzle platformer!

Hi! Personally, I don't like puzzle games, but The Watchmaker is a very fun game. It's a real challenge to play and try to keep Alexander under 70. It's so interesting how the game tells you where are you going to find or put things in their place, as the clocktower must work again. Actually, I don't know who or what is the thing that is trying to kill Alexander, or which is its motivation to damage the clocktower. Probably tomorrow I'll know that.

The Watchmaker is an indie game, which is no excuse, where you play as the titular Watchmaker being followed by a purple energy ball and battles robots in one of the worst games of 2018 so far.

Pros:
- Good visuals
- 3 good mechanics (1 of which another game, Braid, did much better)
- Decent voice acting

Cons:
- Bad camera
- Terrible movements
- Poorly optimized
- Black screen every time you die
- Platformer with terrible platforming
- Music was short and looped
- Absolutely no feedback on where to go or what to do
- Conversations are usually when you are fighting enemies so you can not hear the story
- Time pressure makes you stressed

[h1]Introduction[/h1]
The Watchmaker is the debut Steam title from Micropsia Games, published by 1C Company, in which you play Alexander, a man of variable age and mysterious background.

The game begins with a weird spirit thingy flying about inside a huge clock tower. Massive gears and cogs have ground to a halt and it's muttering about some sort of sabotage and finding The Watchmaker: apparently the only person who can fix it. Eventually it stumbles across Alexander, an old man literally sleeping his life away in an office inside the tower.

The spirit wakes Alexander and quickly explains the situation, but Alexander's memory is fuzzy and he doesn't completely understand. Escaping from the office, Alexander follows the spirit's instructions as he attempts to catch the "Ruin Saboteur", repair the tower -- and in the process, time itself -- and recover his memories.

[h1]Presentation[/h1]
The first thing you'll notice about The Watchmaker is its graphical style: cartoon-like, with muted colours, large characters, and a mix of clockwork, steampunk, and science-fiction influences. The Watchmaker himself is tall and lanky, like something out of an independent European animated movie. Many of the enemies have a similar look to them, too.

Once the action begins, though, it starts to look a little less impressive. Animations are a bit wooden and many are rather slow and uninterruptible; once they begin you have to wait for them to finish, even if that takes a few seconds. The effects of age on Alexander are a little too subtle for me, too; I'd have liked to see larger changes in movement and posture, for example. Effects are mostly good, particularly the time-slow and shield, but then others look really bad, such as the flowing water in one of the puzzles on Level 2.

I believe the game is spread across five different levels, but I've only seen the first two. Level graphics are nice enough, but start to feel a bit bland before too long, and the drab colours don't help to dispel that feeling. Visual range is good, but there's obvious pop in of some objects.

Music is great, with a Danny Elfman feel, and it perfectly suits the look of the game. Sound effects are okay, but I feel some of them are a bit too quiet while others are too loud. In the end the whole lot just felt a bit cacophonous.

Adding to that feeling is the awful voice acting. Alexander sounds like he's played by two different people: an angry skinhead about to steal your pint and an aristocrat with an impressive education. That could be intended, but it doesn't seem to correspond to changes in his age, so I suspect not. But that's nothing when compared to the absolutely terrible voice of the spirit, who makes Jim Carrey's most annoying sound ever seem like a blissful melody. And it's SO LOUD! *shudder*

Subtitles don't match the spoken words, and script also seems to have been translated in a way that leaves it hard to follow. There are a number of graphical options, which you might need to adjust. I experienced inconsistent slowdowns when rotating the view or moving quickly on my GTX1070.

[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
The Watchmaker plays like a classic third-person puzzle platformer with a dash of action. You control Alexander as he runs and jumps his way about the levels, which make good use of all three spatial dimensions. There's configurable controller support as well as mouse and keyboard controls.

Alexander wears a strange backpack, which not only displays his stamina bar, but also a power meter, and, most importantly, his current age. Time itself is broken, so a few moments of real time or damage from an enemy sees Alexander's age increase by years; when he hits 90 he dies, though collectible items can reduce his age, too. It's an interesting variation on the standard health mechanic.

He also wears a freaky-looking electric gauntlet thingy, which uses the backpack's power for some nice effects: an energy blast; a shield, which doesn't seem to do anything most of the time; a time-image duplicate, which enables Alexander to press two nearby buttons at once; an energy grab, which is unreliable; and a time-slow effect, which annoyingly takes a few seconds to activate. Exactly why the backpack displays critical information to people behind Alexander, and not Alexander himself, is a mystery, as is the source of the power and abilities.

The game uses checkpoints for saving. Stand on one of these and Alexander's age, position, and (most of) the current level's state is saved, to be restored on death or reload. When it works this model isn't too bad, but the ability to go back to the start of the current level, or, even better, set your own checkpoints to return to as well as the automatic saves would really help.

Core gameplay involves running and jumping about lots platforms -- made more difficult than it should be by unresponsive controls and uninterruptible animations -- looking for buttons to press or handles to rotate in order to effect changes on the world. You'll encounter lots of boring enemies to engage in unfulfilling combat (it's usually faster to run away), and each level has a boss with set attack patterns to learn and counter. In other words, it's pretty typical of the genre and it all feels like you've seen it before.

The puzzles are mostly similar in design: two buttons spaced a certain distance apart are obviously going to require a duplicate, while a button that immediately starts a distant platform moving will need you to slow time, etc. But the nature of the levels and game is such that you'll often spend ages wandering about looking for the next step, and there's a fair bit of backtracking. The levels are big and hard to navigate, and the poor pacing and translation of the script make it even harder to work out what's going on. It feels like a confusing, unintuitive mess.

To make matters worse, loading times are long and the time taken to restore at a checkpoint, though measured in seconds, feels altogether too slow, like many of the animations.

Finally, the game is extremely buggy, with bugs ranging from frustrating to game breaking. Here's a sample:
- Steam VR starts up with the game and has to be killed quickly for the game to work properly;
- brief flashes of black screen during some scripted events;
- keyboard controls displayed when you're using a controller ("HOLD E TO VIEW");
- inventory/menu often freezes the game, requiring alt-tab and kill;
- a puzzle in Level 2 seems to have been reset, with no way for me to proceed past it;
- controller not always detected on game start;
- camera sensitivity drops to minimum of its own accord;
- broken physics when jumping against movable objects;
- clipping issues;
- grab mechanic doesn't always work; and
- keys sometimes disappear when you respawn.

Add to that the far-too-close camera, long wait times, instant kills, slow and uninterruptible animations, and annoying voices, and I was almost relieved when the second level seemed to break, because there was no way I was going to start all over again. And that's a terrible shame.

[h1]Verdict[/h1]
While I appreciate the art style of The Watchmaker and I have some sympathy for what the game is trying to do, I'm sorry to say the bugs and other frustrations, some of which are inherent in the game's design, made me want to give up playing after only a few short hours, most of which were spent wandering aimlessly around the second level after a broken puzzle prevented me from progressing.

With a bit more effort on QA The Watchmaker could have been an acceptable puzzle platformer. As it is, with all its faults and questionable design choices, I can't bring myself to recommend it. But it does look nice.

This game is 80% platforms & 20% combat, the platforms are easy, and the puzzles starts to add difficult along the game, the only issue I discover is that the character could use more animations, but I recommend it any ways. I would work on the combat sistem, hope that the developers work on thi soon.

It's a very nice game, I played it like for 1 hour, i thinks its a little bit confused on the beginning and it would be good if you include a map to avoid cross again and again on the same place. But i really recomend it because it's a new way on the puzzle games for the future, very nice game!

So, The Watchmaker has been so far a pretty good game. The controls are quite simple, but the combination you may achieve with them can be really fun! Somehow it reminded me of the Portal (1 and 2) series but with a steampunk environment.
The 90-year-old-death makes the game very interesting. You not only have to solve very creative puzzles, but also you have to quick on your solutions. The first 5 minutes can be a bit frustrating while you adapt and learn about the world and environment, but after you learn the basics, it just go directly to puzzle solving.
If you like difficult and fun puzzle games, definitely you should try this one!

Non va per niente bene.

La prima cosa che si nota è che il gioco non è minimamente ottimizzato: caricamenti LUNGHISSIMI e framerate incostante nonostante la grafica sia carina.

The Watchmaker mette nel calderone tanti ingredienti ma creando una gran confusione. Tempo da bloccare, proiezione di copie, raggi respingenti, raggi traenti... tutti da subito e maldestramente. Ma la vera rovina è la fase platform, che funziona molto male e causerà tante morti accidentali, aggravate da checkpoint messi malissimo.

Ci ho giocato oltre mezzora, poi non ce l'ho fatta più. Raramente mollo così presto ma qui ci sono solo buone premesse e zero divertimento.

I backed the game on Kickstarter and then won this copy of the game when the Kickstarter creator held a draw.

I am just getting into the game, but really enjoying it so far. Using the keyboard controls and they work fine. I haven't tried it yet with the controller.

I just love the looks of the game, i dig into steampunk and this delivers a all universe where you can't tell where's the limits.

The time management reminds me one of my favourites, Prince of Persia, but with different time-based abilities.

The puzzle mechanics gets a little predictable sometimes. The levels are very different from each others and there's very interesting mechanics, as the level where the gravity changes as an alternate dimension.

Overall, i'll recomend it :)

Fun and challenging, The Watchmaker is an action-puzzle game, which visuals and mechanics pleasantly reminds me American McGee´s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns.

The story is well constructed, and all the aspects of the game are coherent with the concept of time: from the personality of the characters to the visual aspect of the scenarios.

This game shows us the potential of the chilean industry in the development of interactive entertaiment.

Entretneido y desafiante, The Watchmaker es un juego de acción y puzzles, cuyo aspecto visual y mecánicas me recuerdan gratamente a American McGee´s Alice y Alice: Madness Returns.

La historia está bien contruida, y todos los aspectos del juego son coherentes con el concepto del tiempo: desde la personalidad de los personajes hasta el aspecto visual de los escenarios.

Este juego nos muestra el potencial que tiene la industria chilena en el desarrollo de entretenimiento interactivo.

Já chegaram a jogar Portal? Não? Okay, vou tentar explicar o conceito por aí e depois falarei melhor depois de entender o ponto.
The Watchmaker e Portal compartilham da mesma 'categoria', um jogo de aventura-puzzle (sim, existe vários exemplos no mercado, mas o mais próximo e mais conhecido de fato é Portal e sua sequência, Portal 2), no qual o foco principal é passar por vários puzzles (foco principal), tendo leves variações com momentos de ação em meio a gameplay.

Claro, falando por cima, e explicado o ponto, voltemos ao foco.
O jogo tem forte base de puzzle, fazendo você ter que quebrar a cabeça para passar de um ponto A para um Ponto B, utilizando suas habilidades com ferramentas 'magnéticas' e 'controle do tempo' (parar ou retornar alguns segundos, parecido com a série Sands of Time do Prince of Persia... só a habilidade é parecido), em um mapa amplo e grau de dificuldade gradativa (subindo bem aos poucos).

Mas além desse sistema de gameplay, uma das coisas que chama a atenção logo de cara é o personagem principal (Join Alexander, o 'guardião' da Torre do Relógio) já estranhar estar velho... e não é para menos.
O tempo dá a impressão que flui mais rápido para ele, com anos passando em minutos, e o HP dele é justamente a idade que ele tá adquirindo (começa o jogo com 60 anos, e morre ao chegar nos 90, sempre exibido pela 'mochilinha' nas suas costas, com um hud bem semelhante ao Dead Space, mostrando 'HP' e 'energia' bem nas costas do Alexander).
Então, tem que contra-balancear o seu tempo administrado em resolver puzzles e se 'recuperar da velhice', que é possível com 'save points' espalhados pelo maps, 'poções' e por aí vai.

Além das mecânicas de tempo e magnéticos usados para puzzle, também vale citá-los para o uso em pequenas batalhas, como campo de força e pulsos magnéticos tanto para ataque quanto defesa. (também administrado pela 'barrinha' exibida na mochila).

Bem... com isso, o jogo já dá a premissa do que irá enfrentar, mas mesmo tendo mapa confuso e pouco amigável (uma torre de relógio, onde até a vista alcança, são engrenagens que você precisa fazer mover de alguma maneira), te fazendo ser obrigado a 'descobrir' pra onde tem que ir (já que o jogo também não lhe diz direção e lhe faz ter a impressão que o jogo trabalha numa linha não-linear), mas o seu maior inimigo de longe é o próprio tempo (e a música com loop infinito no jogo, mas isso pode ser removido).

Como citado, o tempo passa muito rápido (chegando aos 90 anos, você morre, lembrando que já começa praticamente com 60) e consequentemente, não te dá muito tempo para sair analisando como resolver cada puzzle, exigindo agilidade de raciocínio (pelo menos você não perde todo o progresso, lhe permitindo um jogo prosseguido de acertos, erros e repetição)... Resultado? Pouco tempo pra analisar + sistema não linear + puzzles ao extremo = jogo para poucos.
E não acho isso ruim na realidade, apesar de ser frustrante em grande parte das vezes (Mas se já jogou com exaustão Dark Souls, Cuphead e afins, sabe lidar melhor com isso)...

Com visual bem trabalhadinho, jogabilidade boa para controle, recomendo esse jogo exclusivamente pra quem gosta de jogos com base forte em puzzle (como Portal, já citado)... Pois acho realmente difícil que outro tipo de público possa gostar dele.

Alexander lives in a small town in England called Clock Town. He is formally known by the community as The Watchmaker because he is the creator of a massive mechanical clock tower located on the outskirts of the town. The maintenance of such a structure is an exhausting task in itself, needing constant attention. Everyone needs to rest once in a while . . . but that might be a problem for Alexander. He is woken by a voice announcing/warning him that his beloved structure had been sabotaged and that time had gone totally bonkers! The only person who can repair the time and the clock tower is of course . . . the watchmaker!

The Watchmaker is Steampunk puzzle-adventure / third person platformer game where you take control of the great Alexander, better known as the Watchmaker.

As the story starts, a sparkle appears in a mechanical world accompanied by a voice in search of the main protagonist. As soon as it finds Alexander, the camera swings and you see your character in the third person perspective. Then the watchmaker will need to find a way out by using his magnetic glove, which has several properties: the first is the ability to hold and move an element (pipes, generators, etc) from one place to another, and the second is that he can blast enemies away with a pulse, or simply use his glove as a light to help him navigate through darker environments. The other thing you need to know is that the watchmaker will carry a strange device on his back. This device has an antenna on the left hand side (to represent his stamina), a number in the middle (representing his age), some sort of a light globe on the top (his health) and six blue squares on the right hand side (pulse attacks).

Then you’ll have to make your way through very beautiful worlds, of which there are five. At the time of writing this review, I am about to finish the third world, and I must say it has been a great experience so far! Alexander will fight interesting enemies, such as mechanical spiders, ancient Greeks blocks, toy figurines, stone golems and more. One aspect I particularly like is that if you manage to clear a section of a stage and reach one of the save points (which regenerates your stamina, health and pulse attacks), you won’t need to do it again, including the bosses fights.
In terms of puzzles, they are pretty interesting and well done, as far as I am concerned.

Graphically, the games looks great and are really fun to play. The big issue I have here is that the savings don’t work properly. The problem occurred for me in the second world where two Greek statues were engaged in some sort of wrestling move that joined them together, and created a bridge that allowed Alexander to access a temple. I saved it here. The first time I reloaded this specific level, both of the statues were apart, despite the fact that I had saved them joined. The second and third attempts were the same until the fourth reload, which finally replicated the original save. Personally, I found this frustrating and the issue really needs to be looked at as soon as possible. As for the controls, I personally prefer to play with the mouse and keyboard, but the gamepad is pretty good too.

This game delivers on what is advertises an action adventure steampunk puzzle paltformer. If you like challenging puzzles that you will struggle to solve than you'll like a lot of what this game has to offer. The platforming is more of a side feature than a main focus but is usually incorperated into the puzzles you complete. The fights don't feel especially great but they are creative and if you can figure out what to do quickly they are quite enjoyable. At times what you need to do or how you can do it does feel a bit unintuitive. The core mechanics of the game work well and the time based abilities are fairly fun to use. The age based life system also adds a welcomed change to the classic health forumla that makes gameplay feel more fun and like you need to progress. The story itself is enjoyable to experience although its not going to knock you out of the water.
