Yeah so this is a tactical battle game a little like Wartales or Battle Brothers but nowhere near as polished. It ALMOST feels good enough to push on with, but I think I am finding the battles a bit too samey and repetitive. It nearly has that compulsive x factor but not quite.
There is also a Darkest Dungeon's style narrator but the script and delivery is nowhere near as good - in fact it is quite amateurish.
It is also a bit funny at times, presumably unintentionally, like with the shoes - my troops and enemies have been almost completely unshod so far. Shoes do exist, but you have to pay extra to get them as enhanced armor. Because tromping around a ruined dark ages warzone and fighting rampaging horrors is best done barefoot!
Music is inoffensive and has moments where it feels like it is about to become something special, but it never does.
And that is the game in a nutshell - almost hitting the x-factor of greater games, but not quite managing.
Now given its age - 2016! - and apparently tiny dev team, that is actually pretty impressive, to almost manage to capture that x-factor... But it is not enough for me to keep playing. I am very jaded though! I've been playing games since 1980 or so. It is hard to impress me and keep my attention.
So... because I think some folk could like this, and it clearly has a bit of spirit, I will recommend it with the above caveats. Maybe give it a go if it is dirt cheap and you have run out of other tactical war games to play, or crave a setting a little like the Night Watch.

It's a game that is fun to come back to after trying a whole lot of other tactical turn based crpg's that were either too complex or too unforgiving. Oh, and can you save mid battle.... of coarse you bloody well can (other developers please take note).
Good old school CRPG with heavy focus on tactical combat and character progression. It is similar to other games that I enjoyed like The Hand of Merlin or Dungeon Rats, this game is a hidden gem in the same vein for those who understand depth and atmosphere.

Absolutely *KILLER* CRPG!! Made by a dev team with a LOVINGLY AMAZING attention to detail! Seriously, this is one of my favs ever and I only played 6 hours and barely saw 10% of the game most likely. It's incredibly deep, has ALL the RPG elements and features and just plays so beautifully that you can tell a lot of LOVE and great skill went into making it. Very cool idea, but I was hoping it would be more on the management side of things. The combat doesn't seem that fun to me (but others seem to enjoy it!), and it doesn't make sense that you play as the Lord Commander, but then don't fight in the field, and yet micro manage the patrols etc that are sent out. If there was an auto-combat option, this game would be 10x better IMO. Then, I could focus on resources and management and less on every single shot an archer has to take every single combat.

A great little indie tactical strategy game. If you're a fan of the genre you're going to like this one. Don't expect AAA graphics or customisations, but there's an impressive level of polish from a single dev, and has thus far been bug free.
Yet another game taking inspiration from similar entries such as Darkest Dungeon. Unfortunately, like its inspiration, the difficulty doesn't lie in choices you can make, either tactical or otherwise. Most everything is left up to a roll of the die, with no influence on mitigation. It's essentially just a gambling simulator. Permanently removing characters that you've spent time on developing simply due to a bad die roll isn't a particularly engaging or enjoyable mechanic. If I had the option to revive them at a cost, that would be a fair balancing act, considering the scarcity of gold. Unfortunately, it's merely a punishment for investing any time into this game.
This one is a gem!

The Storm Guard: Darkness is Coming is a party-based turn-based RPG strategy game. There are some very basic town management aspects to the game, but they are barely necessary and don't have much impact on the overall game play.
You'll select characters to make up a group, then send them on missions. New missions become available as you advance. You have to juggle gaining gold, experience, and the panic level of your town as you select missions. Each missions leads you to a map of cells, perhaps 10-20 of them. You advance into a cell then an event occurs such as helping someone, running away, exploring, fighting, etc. A mission may take 10 minutes or 30+. It depends on your choices. You can skip fights, skip encounters, or choose to complete every single event.
On the battle screen, you'll usually face off against 3-6 monsters on a flat terrain. The only variable here is line of sight, which can prevent characters from being able to attack. Each character can move, attack, buff, etc. per turn and they get two actions per turn. Once a battle completes, you'll be awarded with gold, exp, sometimes items or abilities.
While the game is basic, I did have a lot of fun with it. It's varied enough to keep you interested as more skills and armor types open up throughout the game. There are a lot of abilities and a decent number of classes. The graphics are very basic, but functional. The music is decent. I believe the game developer wanted narration such as with Darkest Dungeon, where the narrator adds comments as someone dies or gets in a critical hit, but after a few hours, he gets very old. Once you've heard everything he has to say, he'll simply repeat himself. Fortunately, you can just turn the volume down.
Overall, it was an enjoyable game even if the story, graphics and game play are basic. You can run a few missions then find something else to do or play for hours. If you want some simple turn-based RPG combat, this is a decent game. If you want complex graphics, an engaging story, or super-complex combat, you will likely not enjoy it.
Completely unbalanced. There are some totally explainable limitations put on the player that do not make any sense and once you reach level 3, all final fights become exercise in frustration. That is not a challenge, that is bad design.

I enjoyed this game. I like the premise and it is a bit challenging to get started. Lots of fun once you get going. Tons of characters with lots of abilities, Mix and match to make your perfect team. I won the game with Dwarf Slayer, Amazon, human Healer, Dwarf Priest and a Elf witch, I would love to see a more developed game with more mechanics. I didn't notice any bugs. Overall I consider buying this game as money well spent.

It's basically a turn-base, squad-level, RPG based in a fantasy genre.
Pros:
It's easy to jump in and play, and easy to pickup if you haven't played it awhile.
Varying warrior professions with interesting skills to unlock.
Skill progression for your warriors along with unlocking equipment and spells.
Interesting fighting abilities that each profession has.
Good variety of fantasy creatures to fight, all of which have special abilities and attacks that you need to learn to counter.
Cons:
Not many zones/maps, so encounters will all happen within a small set of the same zones to fight in. But the zones are decent, so it's still quite fun.
All-in-all a very fun squad-level tactical fighting game that's fun to play, and easy to jump into for some quick fun.
You dont know the repetitive maps as much due to the good variety of opponents and their varying abilities to counter.

Its a pretty good tatics move game. There is a town building element to the game. Many types of monsters to fight. I was surprise at how much you can do in this game.
One question I see a lot is:
Why get this one instead of Battle Brothers or Warbanners?
TSG: Darkness is coming is very different from both.
It focuses on a few heroes, that you cannot really afford to lose (well, you can, and try to grind some new ones instead, but the opponents get stronger over time, and some missions offered unique opportunity that would be missed forever if you failed at the time I played).
Battle Brothers is an open ended "endless" game about minimizing risks, and coping with losses in a way.
Warbanners is about leading a small elite force through a campaign.
TSG: DC is about managing a small group of adventurers, and improving their HQ while facing increasingly dangerous foes.
It is semi open (in that you get a lot of mission opportunities, but there is also an ending). In a way, it feels closer to XCOM (except that I would not recommend playing it ironman at all).
Most of the classes (I say most because I didn't play all of them) have intgeresting abilities and synergies.
Almost all of the battles (all of them maybe?) are 4 vs 4, so it can get a bit old, but the opponents are very varied, and require different approaches to neutralize them.
As you can see on the screenshots, the game uses generic Unity assets, which is a shame, but it is its main weakness.
Overall, I think this game is really good, even if you have a ton of similar games like I do. It really scratches a slightly different itch.
I had a somewhat enjoyable time with this game so i am giving it a thumbs up. But this game is really short and once you figure out the mechanics the game gets repetitive and has no replay value. Recommend to get it on sale as a little diversion if you are interested in SRPG's or Darkest Dungeon type games.
The game has a tactical turn based combat like the Tactics' games but takes its inspiration from rogue-like game Darkest Dungeon (it even has a narrator narrating in the background like DD). You manage a party of heroes from a base and send them off on a mission each day. Missions will have a map with a series of encounter points that have random encounters, usually involving combat but sometimes it could be non-combat encounters. After each mission you will head back to base and choose what equipment/skill to upgrade using the gold earned.
Combat is typical SRPG turn based combat. Characters can buff, heal or inflict hexes/conditions on enemies. Each class/enemies has its own strength and weaknesses. It was fun to learn the mechanics but once you have it figured out there really isn't much more to do.
Warning, the game doesn't really give you time to experiment and learn the mechanics slowly. The difficulty ramps up quickly and you will most likely die. I had to restart twice before figuring out everything.
To conclude, pros of this game is that is is a more relaxing and shorter Darkest Dungeon. (I never completed DD because it was so tedious).The mix of Combat and party management is interesting.
However the cons of it is that there is not much variety to the gameplay. The mission types are more or less the same thing. Random encounters are more or less the same (typically you just choose to fight, if possible, for every encounter because that will net you much needed XP and gold). Combat typically plays out the same way. Characters have fixed skill paths and equipment, i.e. not much RPG elements in it.
Overall there are some really interesting ideas in this game, but its potential is never fully realized.
Really good game, I totally enjoyed my ironman playthrough. Not too long and not too short. There are some annoying bugs, but nothing gamebreaking. If you aren't scared by outdated visuals and enjoy turn-based tactical combat and characters management with sparse resources - then this game is a solid choice.

Lots of luck involved and I think they've balanced the cash flow so you are really having to make careful spending choices.

復活したドラゴンや襲い来るモンスター軍団から人類の領地を守るため、タイトルであるストームガードのメンバーを育成しながら進める。拠点となる陣地でメンバーを雇い（ミッション中にメンバーが増えたりすることも）、訓練場でスキル、防具屋でアーマーを強化できる。定期的に発生するミッションに出撃するとスタミナが減るので時々メンバーを宿屋で休ませることも必要。何をするにしてもお金が必要になるので、バイトさせたりミッションで稼いだりと、うまくやりくりする必要がある。
また、ミッションを放置しすぎると一日ごとにパニックレベルが上昇していき、レベルが高いほど毎週もらえるお金が少なくなる。そのためミッションは早くクリアする方が良いが、同じメンバーばかり出撃させるとスタミナ切れになるし、他のメンバーが育たない。ミッションの有効期限や、キャラの育成状況、お金、パニックレベル、そういったパラメータを睨みながらのマネージメントが楽しいゲーム。
さらに戦闘システムも良く出来ていて、良くあるアクションポイントベースのものだが、スキルによってはアクションポイント無料だったり、エナジーやアドレナリン等のポイント消費で発動といったスキルもあり、それらの特性を比較しながら状況に応じて使い分けるのが楽しい。しかし、命中率がスパロボ的に当てにならないところだけは頂けない。（そのため命中率100%になるスキルやウィッチの補助魔法は必須。または背後を取るか。）キャラは死ぬと復活せず墓場に記録が残る。大事に育てたキャラが死なないように慎重な行動選択を毎ターン迫られるが、これは人によって好みが分かれそう。
一番良いと思ったのはちょうと良いボリューム。
この手のゲームは安定行動が分かってくると段々と作業化していくが、全ての敵の種類が出尽くして、攻略法もほぼ出来上がったかな、というところでラスボスミッションになる。
ターンベースでじっくり考えるのが好きな人にはおすすめ。酷いナレーション、クレジットの変な弾き語りはご愛敬。

Very repetitive, very boring
This game is fantastic and a hidden gem. I highly recommend it. You control a party and can recruit more heroes at the tavern, upgrade armor in the city, buy potions, etc. The game is challenging, but very fun. You will lose characters along the way, but you can recruit others. I've been looking for a game without much dialogue/story, turn based, challenging but not crazy hard (this game is somewhat hard on normal), AND control a party with normal healers (seems hard to find games like this). This game will be one of my favorites for some time. I'd also recommend this to encourage more development of games like this.
The game is challenging. If the fear goes up to 100% then the game is over and you restart. I did that once, but I'm doing much better on my second play-through and enjoying it even when I died. :)
Pick this up first, but a few others if you like this type of game: Darkest Dungeon and Everquest (not a party game, but huge open world).

This game scratches my ol' school TSR itch! it is very nicely rounded and a lot of fun! Give it a try.
Really fun little game. I liked it a lot because you could try a lot of different things and failing before you realize what is best and field a tight little war machine. Also, be sure to experience the insanity that is Gnome Wizard.
It is okay and worth picking up on a sale. To many options to say grab it at full price. The game does feel to lack variety between missions. Still good for a few hours fun.
I want to like this game more and give it the most slight of recommendations, but only if it is on a deep sale. If it were a more dynamic with class/race combos and had better pacing I'd like it enough to recommend it. Maybe a second game will take the lessons learned here.

Combat is generally well implemented and very fun, it plays like a lot of games you have seen before. This is a formula that works great.
For a low budget indie game the graphics are good.
There are many skills for classes and you have to choose wisely what to choose and train in.
The mission tree is a great addition. Lots of things to do in a mission and while it would be nice to have more rewards (e.g. gold) its procedurally generated so while so themes and encounters will be the same... the combinations are varied (a lesson that could have been applied elsewhere).
There are some very challenging missions. Which is only hurt byt he fact sometimes you have to take a lot of damage to fulfil them.
I like that the equipment is pretty deep and a motivation to gear up your soldiers. Only knock here is this gear is class locked.
Maps are generally pretty, but could use more terrain to use for tactical advantage (for the player and the AI).
The Bad

Stamina and rest mechanics are not well implemented as to advance in the game you have to do increasingly difficult missions which you need to level up a core set of heroes. The bad news is you can only use them so much and go to your b and c teams.
The pace of the game is really shoddy. The game plays out in days and way to many missions crop up and with the unrest type mechanic you have to get to missions fast. Which is aproblem as the rest mechanic is slow. It would be nice to be able to rest up, built stuff and manage your base.
Locked races and classes. A huge miss and replayablity issue here. Classes and races are bound to each other so there is no opportunity to mix and match and that alone would have made for a much more interesting game.
Low magic. Your best AOE caster is a later introduction and the gnome has to damage himself to cast spells.
Never enough gold or an effective mechanism to make more.
Leveling up could be more meaningful. Maybe a couple skills boosted for free then buy up the rest.

Thumb's up with some reservations.
To start with, I'm a fan of turn-based strategies and RPGs so Storm Guard was exactly what I was looking for when I purchased it. The game itself is sort of a Darkest Dungeon type game where exploration is done using text rather than visuals and combat is isometric using 3D figures. Just like DD, death in this game is permanent with no way to revive or recover lost characters. The goal of the game is to build up a group of character while keeping the overall panic of the population at a low level to insure higher weekly tax income. Certain missions lower the panic level and some raise it the longer they go unfinished.
All of these mechanics work together in a kind of vanilla fashion and that's really the problem I see with Storm Guard - it doesn't do anything new. All of these mechanics can be found in other games, often executed better. The missions largely involve you choosing where to go on a rough map showing different boxes for different paths, and you move about choosing what to do until you find your mission objective which always involves killing things. There are no protection missions, no survival, no recovery. Every mission involves you killing a map full of enemies. There are some combat encounters that add a bit of variety, where more enemies appear as the combat goes on but that's about as much variety as it has.
Things like more characters or a larger variety of missions or enemies would have fleshed out the game a bit more. As it is the game gets pretty repetitive rather quickly. Even cosmetically, the character classes only have two skins so by the end of the game you have two or three characters that look exactly the same with nearly identical skills.
I'd recommend purchasing Storm Guard if it were on sale, but barring that I'm not sure there's enough value to justify buying it at full price.
First impression is rather good, but... we need fonts patch! Really we need fonts with better readability!
Bit of a weird difficulty curve, but game really hits its mark after the first extra party member unlock.

Short. Yes i know, it is not a positive first thing to say, although it also means that I would have enjoyed more of it.
The tactical fights are intense, up to a certain level of character and gear. Characters are unevenly balanced both in skills and potential gear. But still, the game is fun to play. Difficulty is well adjusted, provided you do not pick a team of all the weakest character possible (balancing issue), which mainly hinders the replayability, since you do not have that many viable options for your active party. The management required is easily handled. You are not rushed into doing the main quests (but some side quests will penalize you for not treating them in due time).
It results in a small tactical combat game, not too much to expect from it, but still easily a couple dozen of hours of fun.
Game is pretty cool. It doesn't seem very complicated but it actually has some depth.
Realy, i con not express how fascinating this game is.
Hard from the start but solvable and you acn save your action.
Realy a nice game.
And i can not stress the developer to make DLC for it, like the Fist Strom Guard Story line and more.
This game will have a bright audience, if it is packed with DLCs and more camp costumizations in the future DLCs.

Сначала игра очень нравится, нравится РПГ элементы, нравится некая похожесь на FTL и роуглайк в целом. Но через пару дней понимаешь, что ивентов на карте чудовищно мало, они постоянно повторяются и уже выучены наизусть. Монстров тоже немного, хотя те, что есть, достаточно своеобразные. Герои интересные, прокачка радует, но битвы нет - уже на 4-ом уровне героев всё сводится к самокопированию и есть классы, которые просто несбалансировано уничтожают всё и вся по заданной схеме. Но самое обидное то, что в игре нет сюжета, миссии повторяются постоянно! Когда впервые выпала миссия 5-го уровня, то я обрадовался, ибо в конце должен был быть новый монстр. Прошёл её и ничего нового не открылось, всё так же и висят мисси 2-3-го уровня, которые я не стал выполнять ещё игровую неделю назад, ибо они уже были третий раз на повторе. В общем, игра на пару вечеров, совершенно без развития и с кучей контента, который нет необходимости применять, хотя задумка очень интересная и можно было довести до ума.
Just finished the game. And I had a lot of fun... and also discovered some new curse words. The final battle was INSANE and was only able to win with 8th level characters (on normal level). The Storm Guard is a beautiful game with excellent animations. The tatical combat is indeed a chess game. Just wish the game was deeper and characters had inventories. For those folks here that were gamers in the 80's and 90's; this game can be compared to SSI's Wizard's Crown - one of my most memorable and cherished of the SSI games. The Storm Guard is recommended!!!
The combats get stale pretty fast. Same old, same old. I'm sure you could play around with different combinations and skills but there just doesn't seem to be the depth there to merit the fact that these set-piece combats are all you really do in the game, again and again and again. This kind of turn-based combat is my preferred game, but this one just doesn't have what it takes.
Fun and tough! so far Im liking everything the game has shown me , turn based combat, simple Keep management system, the enemies are well done I think , and theres so far quite a variety of them ! The last mission i did was ramped up on toughness , and for a few fearful moments it felt like i was being Game mastered in a table top RPG by a cruel 13 year old whos never gotten laid. Overall i like the game !
It is like darkest dungeon type game but difficulties is easier.
So if you like party dungeon RPG like darkest dungeon and you want easier game play, you may like this game.

A somewhat more basic form of Darkest Dungeon. Still it is good fun for those with active imaginations who can fill in sand box mechanics with the movie in their head. Not gonna be fun for those who do not understand what RNG is used for. I personally love it. The battle graphics and characters are very good, although I wish there were options for more customizations. Currently there are only two variations for each hero. Character classes are gender specific too which is kind of ashame. But its not all that bad, just could have been more. All in all a fun little sandbox world. 8/10
Very good game with solid turn-based combat. The story is pretty thin and the game becomes repetitive after a while but if you like building teams and characters and trying to come up with formidable teams of heroes, "The Storm Guard" is a lot of fun. The sound design could have been stronger, too.
I recommend it to turn-based combat fans because there's a whole lot of combat in this game. I've enjoyed beating it on easy mode and have just started playing on normal, which does seem rather challenging, but because you are able to save the game before going on any mission, you don't have to lose a lot of progress each time a team is wiped out if you don't want to.
I'd rank it a solid 7 out of 10. If there were ever a sequel with just a few improvements in the sound and perhaps a more engagin story to follow, it could be a formidable franchise.
Da das Spiel endlich auch auf deutsch spielbar ist, muss ich einfach mal sagen, das es in meinen Augen sehr gelungen ist. Eine schöne Mischung zwischen Aufbau von Charakteren und zufallsgenerierten Karten. Die Geschichten in den Karten finde ich sehr schön gemacht. Nur das Tutorial könnte etwas mehr den Bereich der Verwaltung eingehen.
Davon abgesehen......einfach empfehlenswert.

In this story you will have to protect your people from the Dragon. The storyline is very well written. You will start by choosing 3 heroes from available list each with special abilities. Just like all of these types of games, you will begin in the town where its safe and you can interact with various people, take on the missions and go to battles.
All the battles in the game is turn based and if your hero is low on stamina his abilities will be limited. He will have to stay in town to regenerate. The gameplay its self is very traditional and so as the graphics. I think graphics wise they could have done better with today’s technologies. The game has 3 difficulties to choose from. I would recommend starting on easy because it seemed like even on easy mode the enemies were not that weak.
I think it’s a pretty fun game but it does have pretty steep price for what it is. I would wait for a sale before buying it but its definitely worth a try.

The Storm Guard is a militairy order that protects everyone against the dragon. A long time ago, when the Storm Guard was formed, they eliminated all opposing powers and the people's lives became safer. With time, however, the people became less cautious, weaker, and the Storm Guard is merely a shadow of its glorious past. Not to mention, the dragon has returned.
[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
You start the game by choosing a party to start the mission. You choose 3 heroes from you current list available. This put you onto a mission map, similar to a dungeon. Moving from room to room costs food, and each room contains a random event. These events may give you instant rewards, alter your reputation, or trigger fights. All of these maps and room events seem to have procedural generation.
All of the battles are turn-based, and you have the option to speed them up. You have a variety of skills that you can choose from, along with plenty of items as well. The heroes and enemies spawn more or less linearly with respect to each other, there is not too much variety here.
Every hero has stamina that primarily limits activities. When the stamina runs low, that hero needs to stay in town to recover. He/she cannot go on any missions or perform tasks in town. There is also constitution (physical condition) for each hero, killing enemies will gain constitution, while taking damage will lower it. Lastly, heroes gain adrenaline when striking a foe. With enough of this built up, they can perform a powerful skill attack. Each hero will level up with time and experience. However, death is permanent for each hero.
The contains a fairly detailed in-game tutorial. Which explains a reasonable detail regarding every aspect of the game. This can be toggled, so people who wish to play without explanation could do so too. The text in the tutorial is rather small and very difficult to read.

In town you can find the following:
Mission Board: here you choose your missions. You can gain experience and gold. It will also cost stamina.
Shop: you can purchase food, potions, among other things.
Sanctuary: resting here restores stamina and constitution.
Tavern: for recruiting new heroes.
Training Hall: each hero can train to gain experience and to learn new skills here.
Armory: as the name suggests, you can better protect your heros with armor.
Graveyard: where a list of your fallen heroes are displayed.
Steward’s Office: here you can perform side-tasks for the Stewards. Pick a hero and let him/her do tasks for a limited time to gain rewards. Those heroes aren’t available during that time.
There is a general panic level for the town. Completing missions will lower it, while failing a mission will cause it to rise. When the panic level reaches maximum, you will get a game over. Sitting around and doing nothing will certainly cause the panic level to rise as well.

Graphics are not very outstanding, it seems rather outdated.
The music is pretty good, but not on any epic scale.

There are 3 difficulty settings. Though even on easy mode, the enemies are quite strong. I would suggest trying out the game in easy settings first.

The Story Guard: Darkness is Coming is a roguelite strategy game with turn-based battles. The game is quite fun if you can look past the mediocre and simple graphics. It has enough playable content to warrant a recommendation. Though in my opinion, the price is too steep.
I would give it a 7/10 overall score. If it seems interesting enough to you, get it on sale.

I love this game. "The Storm Guard" is not a fancy, huge or too challenging of a game but it is very fun to play and one of the few games of its genre that I actually finished! Highly recommended to lovers of fantasy-themed turn-based strategy games with tactical combat.

b) No, no es mi estilo, el combate es por turnos y no hay gente tirando tiritos.------es obvio que este juego no les va a gustar
c) Que es Darkest Dungeon? -----supongo que siempre hay alguno que volvio de la asignacion en la antartida y se perdio los ultimos años asi que para explicar muy resumidamente (ya que el DD tiene mas de 30mil reviews) se trata de un juego de rol tactico donde hay un hud o ubicacion central desde donde reclutamos guerreros para luego recorrer laberintos tipo rogue -like en los que nos hacemos con un loot.La idea es recorrer estos laberintos generados aleatoriamente una y otra vez para hacernos de loot y subir el nivel de los heroes, para a su vez comprar habilidades, destrabar mejoras en equipò, etc,etc. Es decir es un juego de grindear. Las batallas son por turno y no hay muchos mas.
Esta descripcion aplica tanto para DD como para TSG.
Yendo ahora si al punto del principio lo que no puedo entender es como un juego de esta calidad (muy buena) tiene 100 reviews. Obviamente no es The Witcher (ninguno lo es) pero es un juego completo, con opciones y divertido para quienes gustan del combate por turnos. No se si es falta de prensa o es que el nombre es una porqueria pero a decir verdad no entiendo la razon de que tenga tan poca repercursion.
En definitiva, si les gusto DD hagannos un favor a todos y consideren adquirirlo (o aunque sea probarlo) ya que quisiera que hayan muchos mas juegos de este genero y la unica forma es que a los que hay les vaya bien
Absolutely good game
I bought this game and ended up having it refunded within hours. It tries to be a mix between the town-building resource-management of Darkest Dungeon, with the tactical combat of X-Com, while having almost no effort put into either. I wasn't expecting miracles from an indie game but I expected something less lazy.
Town management: You need to assign people to chop firewood and cook food and stuff, but you can hire free NPCs to do all the work, so this is flat dull.
Combat: You get to bring only three characters on missions. Literally every battle starts with your team all in a row, the enemy team all in a row, just staring at each other from across a tiny but open field. There's no interesting use of terrain or cover, just line the dudes up and let them hit each other until somebody dies.

Great Game. I've really enjoyed the turn based combat. I am just getting into the game, and haven't quite figured out how to keep the panic in check. Truly enjoy the experience. I would highly suggest this, if turn based combat, and a good story are what you are looking for. The Narrator in the background is a great touch.
There are some games that get it just right, when it comes to challenge, and risk/reward - this game just nails it perfectly. I'm starting a lot of battles thinking "Wow - I'm dead. When was my last save?", and I pull it off. Barely, and everybody is on low health, zero mana - but I prevail, and it's pretty satisfying.
The premise is simple: You are progressing thru a series of skirmish battles on a grid, much like Darkest Dungeon. Along the way, you level up and better arm your minions, and your town hub sits as their place of respite. That's where the DD comparison ends, as your characters all battle it out in a 3D arena against a somewhat-matched set of foes. They also arent as disposable as the DD characters, however, and there's far less RNG frustration.
I love the characters, the abilities are fun to use, and as you arm them up they change appearance accordingly. Any game where I can roll a Ninja alongside the prerequisite elves n' dwarves, shows a level of creativity that I appreciate. The varied monster design is also great, especially the "colossal" foes - get ready for a moment of terror when you see a Hydra for the first time, and the subsequent feeling of elation when it lets out it's final bellow and hits the ground (If you did your job right)
It's a great game, at a great price, and I cannot recommend it enough
I don't write many reviews, but since there seems to be a lack of them...
Basically, when I see a review, I want to know four things. Is it any good (or not)? Why? Did I like it (or not)? Why?
Is it any good? Yes. I'd say 3 out of 4 stars. Why? Good tactical game with a fair number of options. A good amount to explore. That said, like many tactical games, it's a bit same-same after a while. It sells itself as being a Night's Watch theme, but that's only in the audio (which I switched off). The game bears a closer remblance to Darkest Dungeon (whose audio I left on), but with a bit more forgiving (you can save/restore) and less depth. Like DD, you have skill trees for characters, but like DD, I found I had a pretty good idea of what worked for me vs. what didn't quickly, so exploring the tree wasn't incentivized. Yes, you can mess with some various builds, but you'll see pretty quickly what works when, which is a key hint. So there's some learning curve, and you'll pay if you get lazy. There's also an encounters engagement learning curve (which is brutal at first, but pretty managable by 3-4th level). However, the RPG element is thin for my tastes. Both DD and TSG:DiC have the race to get gold, but that's something you can manage once you learn how to control for panic and learn some care in your spending.
Did I like it? Yes, for the most part. Why? I do like a good tactical game. If you make tactical mistakes here, you'll pay for them, which is great fun if you like that sort of thing. If you like things a bit more forgiving, save a bit more often. I like having the choice. The dragon battle at the end is a bit chill after everything else, but I went in very prepared.
Its like a hand of fate/grid rpg hybrid, I like it.
Interesting concept, quite addictive but lacking in strategy department.
First of all, this game seems to be Darkest Dungeon with a bit of GoT flavour. I like the game concept, team building and the general setting. The biggest issue is that there is actually very little strategy involved. The battles start with your team facing the opposite team, usually the number of opponents is equal to the number of you team members. You face them, move you archer one tile, shoot, apply Guardian spell on the fighter, move the fighter, they run towards you and basically that is all. All battlefields are just the same, there are no terrain differences that you could use to your advantage, virtually no obstacles. There is no cover system, flanking is almost non-existent. The AI acts quite obvious - melee fighters rush straight towards you, shooters and casters get in range and shoot and cast. They don't try to flank, ambush, withdraw.
You cannot manage your character's equipment, just upgrade it. This is not a big issue but I would prefer having more control.
Graphics is horrible.
It's quite hard to recommend or not recommend this game. I am a fan of turn-based strategy games and find this game quite addictive. There is also not many of this kind of games available, especially in fantasy setting. So, if you like such games, you may like this one. For me it is not worth the price.

It's not really XCOM nor Night’s Watch in the Game of Thrones. Borderline it's that but from very far and not from the mood. But roughly since 3rd week of campaign, I definitly get a feeling reminding XCOM, because there's a significant dificulty, Normal difficulty feels a bit like Veteran in XCOM, and you feel the pressure rising and the urge to improve your roster fast enough to follow the pressure/difficulty increase from campaign progression.
A few comments to describe it in short.
It's an indie Roguelite with party turn based combats on a grid, random missions that are series of text events, roster management, equipment management, party building, light base improvement along the campaign, and light base management.
No AAA here, the game uses modern realistic 3D which cost a lot. But it's no modern AAA 3D level/quality, it's indie. There's a lot of storyteller voices but it's not fully pro. It's ok and it's a plus, but it feels a bit forced and requires some time to get used to it. There's also a good amount of features, multiple classes, each classes has multiples skills and many skills have multiple levels, each class has a lot of equipment, there's many different missions, many different enemies, and more. But it's not the wide quantity of features that have "AAA" indie.
Still it's a lot of fun because manage the roster and party building is very interesting, the combats are quite good with a good depth and diversity. There's also a clear effort to provide a constant evolution and diversity of combats along the campaign. Manage your base is simple but fun, and there's a good sense of progression along the campaign.
I noticed only one negative point in matter of diversity, the game would benefit of more misc events. After 2 weeks, so probably about 14 missions, I have already seen some misc events multiple times. But behind the same events it's not the same combats as there's a scaling to campaign progression. So it's not just the same enemies with more Hp/damages, but it's also new enemies or enemies with new skills/abilities.
But overall, beside on this specific point, it's quite diversified, with a fair depth on various aspects, the whole is very coherent, it seems well tuned, and it's a lot of fun. Overall the real fun starts at end of 2nd week, before the difficulty is a bit lowered and the game doesn't show yet its real face.
Un ottimo game. Parte del mio tempo di gioco è offline, credo di essere verso le 90 ore in tutto. Per chiare subito il gameplay fate conto un xcom, con la fase tattica che si svolge in minimappe, quindi si cammina poco, e con molta, molta profondità strategica nella fase gestionale. Obbligatorio ottimizzare non solo il party, ma anche che le abilità delle singole classi. Per certi aspetti mi ricorda mordheim. E' un gioco diverso, ma ha in comune il profondo impatto tattico dello sviluppo dei personaggi.
Non mi vergogno a dire che un paio di volte ho dovuto incominciare d'accapo. Si, il gioco è difficile. Molto.
Non ho incontrato bug, la grafica è più che dignitosa, il gioco ha una profondità consistente e occorre lungimiranza nelle scelte perchè nel tempo gli errori si pagano.
Rispetto ad altri indie dalle idee brillanti ma dal gameplay acerbo questo è un gioco maturo.
Giocato in modalità normale che di normale ha assai poco. In realtà è una modalità molto difficile.
Acquisto consigliatissimo.
Enjoyable turn-based fantasy rpg. The graphics are simple, but clearly delineate the various mythical creatures (and there's quite a variety). There's an engaging character development system with a plethora of skills to improve along with building synergy by pairing specific classes/skill trees together. So far, I've found the game to be challenging, but not overly difficult although I admit to save-scumming during the dungeons to avoid deaths. Much like Battle Brothers, there is no saving in combat.
If you like TBS games, Storm Guard is definitely worth trying.
An absolute gem of a game. Unsung, unheralded, and unknown...but an utter delight of turn-based goodness. The visuals are spartan and require some imagination, but the gameplay easily hits a level of fun that dramatically exceeds the modest budget of this little 'garage indie' turn-based strat.

This is a tough one to review properly. The game is really quite basic and the graphics are horrendous. But somehow... I enjoyed it enjough to play to the end. Hrm.
Compare this game with Legend of Eisenwald. Legend of Eisenwald is better made in just about every way. Graphics, story, tactical battles, voice acting, Legend of Eisenwald is leagues above this title. However, I couldn't bring myself to complete Legends of Eisenwald due to the game removing my troops my troops every other map thus wasting my efforts in levelling them up. (I detest grinding) And yet I played this game through to the end? Doesn't that say something?
So I'm giving this game a begrudging recommendation. It's really unpolished and many aspects are more of the same with not much variation. So once you've completed it (IF you complete it), don't expect to want another playthrough or to spend more time on it. I enjoyed my time with it and even defeated the extremely cheap final boss, but I probably won't pick it up again.
And don't listen to the singing in the ending credits. You were warned.

A must-have for fans of tactical turn-based games.
The Storm Guard appears deceptively simple, but if you get past the one-man-studio Unity graphics, the production value is rock solid. Not that I find anything to hold against the graphical presentation. It does not have AAA polish (duh), but it is far beyond the "least amount of work required" some failed game attempts implement. In fact, watching your Guard members' appearance change as they slowly accumulate equipment pieces is one of the many small, but thoughtful, additions to the game, and certainly shows the love and care clearly put in this game.
To the point, though - the game is NOT a "story-mode" RPG. The story is pretty generic and serves no other purpose than a window dressing on the real focus of the game - the tactical combat. And boy oh boy does the Storm Guard deliver.
There are enough classes to run into (while you pick from a randomized recruit roster, the availability of specific classes is random) to give enough replayability for several runs if only to learn the strength and weaknesses of each class. Some combination (or just classes in general) are better than others, but the balance between them is mostly preserved well enough that you will can efficiently utilize most of them.
There are more combat skills than you can "equip" for each mission, and figuring out the best combination of them for your personal playstyle is, for me, a large part of enjoyment of the game. Sooner or later you will realize the need for counters specific against particular enemies. It speaks of the intricacy of the combat system that you WILL need to plan ahead to handle any of the enemy archetypes - and there are enough of them that a single cookie-cutter approach, without tactical planning once you hit the map, will result in a party wipe.
Another challenge comes from the more strategic layer of the game. There is a fine balance between improving your characters' skills and equipment and retaining sufficient funds to benefit from random events during missions (or just having enough food early on). Along with timed missions that expire if left unfulfilled, and a "panic" meter that decreases your funding if you fail to keep to your duty of protecting the imaginary kingdom, you end up with having to make constant decisions on priorities. It definitely adds to the "Bad Things™ are coming!" feeling of the game.
As for specific mechanics, you have the full set available. You will recruit new members at the inn. You can assign those that do not go on missions to handle one of four base-specific tasks, or let them rest and recuperate. As soon as you clear appropriate early missions, you will train their skills and buy new pieces of equipment (and the ability to see the gear improve as more model elements are added is a really pleasing touch).
In the end, though, all of it is merely accessory (albeit a very important one) to the core of the game - the tactical combat. And that part is fantastic.
Do yourself a favor and do not skip on this one if you enjoy tactical turn-based games. It is definitely worth the asking price.
great turn-based strategy game for mature xcom/civ lovers. Simple to learn and enjoyable classes. Personally appreciate chance to save game cause not ironman fanatic - if you have other life than computer screen too, you might like that aswell. Game is short, but hoping company make more content in future. Found summersale and fully worth it.
This is the baby of FTL, Diablo, and Xcom. Simple map to travel and make choices on (FTL). Upradeble town and party members (Diablo). Great and sometimes harsh turnbased combat (Xcom). A good game with a reimagined approach to turn based combat.
Une perle cachée que je suis bien content d'avoir trouvée. Le jeu est une sorte de FTL dans un monde heroic fantasy. Les combats sont passionnants, l'évolution des personnages très agréable, la difficulté bien dosée (excepté pour le boss de fin qui est vraiment dur). Seuls bémols: une bande son inexistante et une rejouabilité moyenne (l'aventure étant assez longue à boucler, le coté rogue-like en prend un coup).
I enjoyed it at the beginning as I struggled through the combat...but meeting the final boss 108 times was just a bit too much. (The dragon keeps coming back from the dead and unless you're in the right spot with the right character types you're basically doomed.)
Basically, just not worth it.
Very fun turn-based party RPG. If you're looking for a good tactical RPG you should like this one. All of the polish goes in to the classes and turn-based strategies you can deploy with them. Some parts of the game are no-frills, like your view of moving around the dungeons and interactions therein. But the combats have nice graphics, you can fully rotate the camera and zoom in/out of the action. The classes are fun and fairly well balanced. The game rewards strategic thinking, in both the battles and the way you develop your crew. Not a ton of content but it took me about 35 hours to finish the game once so not bad either.
This game is really cool and fun ! It's hard but you can train in easy mode to familiarize with the game mechanics,the atmosphere, quests and characters are nicely done and immersive.
tl;dr: Look past the graphics & mixed sound, it's worth it. Good, hard, turn-based tactics.
Let's get the negatives out first:
- The graphics are, obviously, not top notch. This is a game that was made on a budget, and it shows. Low-poly, somewhat stiff animations, little effects, etc. Then again, if you play a turn-based tactics RPG for the graphics first, I don't really know how to help you. However, the art style/direction itself is at least mostly consistent.
- The audio is a mixed bag. While the (only) narrator is really quite competent, it is only one, and his remarks do get tiresome after a while. It's just a bit much of the forced grittiness. Some sound effects (I'm looking at you, Harpy Wilhelm) are also hilariously out of place and/or lack weight. The music pieces in the background are fitting, though.
- There are some design issues, like the RNG being able to completely screw you without anything you could do against it. Some encounters are simply impossible, especially early on. I would not recommend Iron Mode for any but the most masochistic people. Also, some town features (like the busywork you can send idle characters to do) seem to be more of an afterthought.
But now, let's get to the good stuff:
- The AI is rarely surprising, but overall surprisingly competent. Especially when meeting new enemies, or enemies of a higher level, their new abilities really do show and a previous pushover enemy might suddenly use an ability unknown to you yet to great effect. I also have not seen the AI comitting any completely suicidal action and if there is an obvious opening in your position, be prepared that it WILL make use of that.
- Many classes, all of which are clearly different, allowing for different tactics and play styles. And due to the leveling system, a class can even be played in (not totally, but still) different ways.
- An incredibly detailed and well explained UI, that helps tremendously with gaining knowledge about the game's various rules. I cannot stress this enough: All you need to know is in the game, laid out well in menus, right-click popups, etc. No hidden mechanics or gameplay obfuscations. Nice!
- The big one: The combat system, the core of the game, was obviously well thought out before it was implemented. Positioning is VERY important as is knowing your characters' abilities and learning those of the enemy. Blindly rushing in WILL get you killed. This game is hardcore in the truest of senses and you actually need to apply tactics, but the game is - except the above mentioned RNG sometimes - not unfair at all. I don't really want to go into much detail here, the combat system is something worth discovering for yourself.
I really do recommend this.

Build your party of (up to) 5 characters from 10 different classes and 3 playable races and embark on a mission. Missions present a grid of locations to explore, each location being an encounter - not necessarily a hostile encounter, you are usually given a set of choices via text that can modify the outcome of an encounter, where choosing "Ättack the dwarves" typically means you will fight (and lose reputation with) the dwarves.
Each character has 8 skill slots and prior to starting a mission you can choose which skills (s)he will carry into battle (think Guild Wars). There is a good variety of skills available to each character class, most skills can be upgraded for stronger effects.
Combat itself is really fun, your party/skill set setup really matters, and what you do on the battlefield actually matters too, you can kite melee enemies, you can flank your foes, most of the time you can use a lot of different approaches to handle a particular enemy depending on your party setup. Oh, and you are definitely NOT FORCED to use the typical (and ultra-boring) tank/healer/dps kind of setup, im generally doing pretty well with 4 dps and a hybrid healer/dps (on normal/ironman, which is the highest dificulty in game currently)
Seeing a lot of other reviewers tend to compare this game to Darkest Dungeon (yes, these two games share a lot of similarities) i just have to throw in my 2 cents on the matter.
Combat in SG is far more tactical and depending on what the player actually does on the battlefield. In DD you are basically pitched face to face with your opponent, spam your skills and PRAY to RNGesus and Lady Luck not to miss and not to get a fat Crit in your face. In SG you have a fairly large grid battle map you can use to outmaneuver and outsmart your enemies (the AI in SG is btw quite decent, far better than the AI in many AAA titles). Id say combatwise SG compares DD like Heroes of Might and Magic would compare to Disciples, whoever played those games would instantly know what i mean :P. While there is still RNG - you CAN miss or crit - it is very manageable, and you can eliminate the chances of missing by using certain abilities, flanking or disabling you enemy, or by just having a plan B (which you actually CAN have in SG).
There is no stress and no randomly aquired negative perks in SG.
Town management is more interesting in DD, you cant build or upgrade buildings in SG. In SG you generally spend your gold on buying/upgrading skills and buying gear for your heroes in the armory.
To draw the line, both SG and DD are good games, and probably most ppl that like DD will like SG too and vice-versa. In my opinion however SG is by no means inferior to DD like other reviewers say, and is actually much better in many aspects.

Have you played Darkest Dungeon? No? Get that instead, it's the better game.
Yes? Great, this will scratch much the same itch, but wil tread more familiar ground while doing it; Grid-based combat where yo move units around, status changes and counters - all the usual.
A more than adequate game for the price, about 15-20 hours to see all content - solid 7/10 average title.

This game is surprisingly OK for a clearly amateur effort. It's not a very polished game, but at least it successfully avoids a lot of traps other indie games tend to all into. For example, a lot of novice developers make turn-based combats extremely slow due to long, unskippable animations, which quickly tire the player, but persist in making the game slower. Here, the animations are long, but at least there is an option to speed them up, which makes the combat much more fluid (although it seems to me it works somewhat inconsistently, with some animations not being sped up, but those are few and far between).
Also, I liked the non-linear nature of heroes' abilities. There is clearly some though behind them: a lot of side-effects or conditional effects make the game much more interesting than the generic "X damage for Y mana" fireballs. Not all abilities are equally usefull, but you will find that the different combat situations call for different pattern of abilities to be used, which is very, very good.
Now, for some less well-done parts. Economy feels rudimentary. It is there, but it don't feel like an interesting part of the game. Character equipment is boring and feels like a slapped-on feature without any depth. This is mainly because you can't actually choose equipment for you characters: they just wear everything you buy/find, getting additive bonuses. It's a simply system - maybe too simple for my tastes. If the same amount of thought that went into abilities design went into equipment, the game would be better off.
The combat is relatively difficult, even on Easy difficulty, so you won't be too bored even by the end of the game. The final battle is done competently, if not brilliantly. At least, it's much more fun than the disaster at the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition :)
The graphics are nothing to write home about, but for such a small team this could be forgiven easily. At least, there are no major problems with contrast or colors. Using more-or-lesss apropriate locations for all encounters is a nice touch - props to the developers for taking time to create a large enough set of combat maps.
All in all, this is an OK game which I recommend to get if you need a diversion for a few days.
P.S. I did not play The Darkest Dungeon, so I can't comment on similarities between these two games, but from the description, they seem quite different.
This game is not DD (darkest doungeon) tho it does come close. so for all those people saying "if you like DD u might like this" no stfu if u like this u might like that ♥♥♥♥ RNG game. this game takes skill is like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ birds eye veiw skyrim ass on a turn based level. this game will make you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cringe and scream out "why tf am i playing this" then youll continue and play it some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more cause you know you had some damn fun. Im telling you rn make a new game play on normal difficulty (hardest one) and iron man mode. IF U DONT HAVE IRON MAN ON ITS LIKE PLAYING X-COM WITH NO IRON MAN. WHATS THE POINT?? youll be clearing some levels and be like wow this is easy i have a sick plan i cant lose! unless this sell cheaper. u can get a similar genra but better game like Mordheim City of the Damned.
I was very excited to play Stormguard but my first hour of gameplay made me regret the purchase, leading to a refund.
Here is the TL;DR of the review, pinpointing my main issues with the game:
- Clunky interfaces (ugly and slow city screen, plain and boring dungeon map screen)
- Buggy, easily explotable AI which tends to make unacceptable decisions for a 20$ game
- Slow, plain, unrewarding combat with very little variety and no flavour
- Almost non-existent itemization: no loot, bad design of items
- Horrible stat system which removes anticipation from evolving your characters and unlocking new gear (what gear?)
- Hideous visuals; the game should have been done in 2D as 3D just makes the overall experience even worse
Storm Guard welcomes you with a very clunky and unfinished interface; everything feels slow and delayed (and I played the game on a high-end rig). Just pressing the buttons makes you feel like the game is an unfinished early access product. And it gets worse.
The city screen welcomes you with a few customisation options and unveils that the game is a Darkest Dungeon clone with some key features taken out (item-based character customisation reduced to oversimplified upgrades purchased at the forge, poor spell leveling system and a lot more of clunkyness accompanying whatever you do). Since the game has nothing to offer but combat, it was quite a bummer to find out that the loot is basically non-existent and was replaced with some basic character-bound (and locked) items which do not add any additional depth to the game.
Then you get to combat part and this is where it gets VERY disappointing. Fights are buggy and very basic to say the least. The bugs are numerous: monsters just pass their turn for no particular reason, freeze and do nothing for 20s and then pass their turn, walk around and do nothing etc. while the game sometimes fails to remove AP from the player after they use abilities and autoattacks in quick succession. Starting positions never vary, AI is poor and easily tricked on the hardest difficulty while the monsters feel like they're just not balanced well enough. You would expect some depth in combat, some interesting ability combinations you can utilize, complexity introduced by the terrain, anything really but it's just not there. Animations are slow and clunky once again, even on the 'fastest' combat speed the game just feels extremely 'off'.The stat system is poorly designed, leaving much more than to be desired to RNG and since combat is much slower-paced than Darkest Dungeon it is not that favourable to leave everything to blind luck. The player is left with very few informed choices and quite a lot of luck to rely on. When the fights finish the rewards are very little for the effort and time spent in combat (also there is no real loot due to horrible itemization).
Then you just realize that this is everything the game has to offer: horrible, unresponsive UI and plain, buggy boring combat which feels like a chore. This game is nothing like Darkest Dungeon, it is not thrilling, it's poorly designed and just really underdeveloped for a 20$ product.
Talk about hidden gems! Best medieval fantasy tactical combat game ever. If not for the mighty Xom EU \ Xcom2, this would be the best tactics game full stop.
While xcom gives you richer tactical options overall, in some ways this game is comparable or better, at least on the tactics front. For example, with Storm Guard, by mid to late game you have more possibilities for skill loadouts for synergies between members of your team.
The soundscape is another massive plus on this game, and for me the introduction videos don’t do it justice – check out some let’s play- if that sort of thing is important to you. There’s several simple but highly atmospheric tunes. Matt Euston is brilliant on the voice acting, with a gritty but warm soldiers voice. Sounds a bit like Jason Stratham.
Game has a few flaws. The map which you use to navigate between “rooms” is bland and only 1990s quality graphics, which lets down the otherwise very appealing visuals. It’s not entirely bug free, though less buggy than xcom eu. Even after about 2 hours play you’ll start repeatedly seeing the same battle maps. However there are a few rare maps & mini scenarios that come up much less frequently, as well as maps you only see at certain points in the story line, so even are 30+ hours you’ll probably still be seeing new things.
Many compare this to Darkest Dungeon, which in my opinion is flattery that DD does not deserve. Yes there are strong similarities in the way you build up your town and rooster of heroes, selecting a small number of them to send on missions. And admittedly you have more options for town building in DD. But on every other front, StormGuard wins hands down. DD has no difficulty levels (at least when I last played) whereas StormGuard has 4 (easy and normal, with or without ironman.) DD graphics are very clearly budget graphics – admittedly very coherent and artistic, but still low fi 2D graphics. Whereas here you have professional quality 3D visuals. The tactical combat is much richer and not restricted to one dimension as is the case with DD. Just my opinion, but atmosphere and voice acting is also much better in StormGuard. Who wants to immerse themselves into a world of insanity after 2016?
Could not recommend this game more strongly to turn based tactical combat fans.

Quite simply. Darkest Dungeon is a better game. If you havn't played that yet. Buy it instead of this game. If you loved Darkest dungeon and want more of the same, this might be it. Warning though, the uniqe atmosphere in DD is unique. This doesnt even come close

The game delivers that "one more turn" feeling. There are challenging encounters, especially if you don't prioritise the "priority" missions.
Excellent concept. Really enjoying it thus far. Highly recommended.
Great game here for turn based combat fans! I can't believe what one guy can build in his spare time.
If you like turn based games with a little challenge and strategy, this is for you. I'm close to finishing my group up to lvl 6 to take on the final map. Few more hours to get a character leveled as I made a mistake that cost the life of my Dwarven Champion.
Pro's -
- Turn based combat on a small/medium map that gets you right into the battles
- Good amount of selection on skills and Chatacter types
- When you find/purchase more equipment you see the changes to the hero's outfit
- That, "One more battle before bed" feel that makes you stay up too late
- Graphics are good for a one man Dev team
- Can save at ANY point in the game so when the wife needs you it doesn't cause domestic issues!
Con's -
- Would like more map types
- More scenarios when adventuring
- Need more members on the dev team to continue to polish the game and add more content.
If you like these kind of games just get it and have fun.

Quite a nice turn-based party-based game with a light management part.
Each class has its own gameplay and party combinations are quite important.
I have only played on Normal difficulty and it is a nice challenge already.
One more plus: The dev is still adding stuff and squashing rare bugs.
I wish there were more text based events and/or random outcomes for each possible decision.
Expect to either lose some units or use the Retreat mechanic in some cases.
Overall, i like The Storm Guard and hope the dev will keep at it for a while more. I'll be looking at his future project as well if he decides to go for a sequel/DLC/new turn-based game.
