The Pedestrian

The Pedestrian is a 2.5D puzzle platformer that takes "puzzle platforming" literally. You play as The Pedestrian (aka the male bathroom symbol) who works in a restroom sign standing beside his Beloved (the female symbol). When she disappears, you must escape your day job and embark on a perilous journey where you progress by piecing the "sign world" back together in search of the one you love.

断断续续玩了挺长时间，昨天下定决心要通关。2D部分还是一如既往的惊艳，每个关卡结合不同机制的设计也很精巧，卡关的时候多试几次总是能找到方法的。但是！变成3D上了楼顶以后越来越不对劲，我以为晚上吃坏肚子了，一直头晕恶心，硬撑着通了关，然后大吐特吐了一顿。结果后面一看玩家们的评论，好多人都恶心或者吐了，我一个从来没晕过3D的人第一次晕3D贡献给了这个游戏……前面的部分真心推荐，最后的关卡大家一定要量力而行，要不就走慢点或者关闭动态模煳，要不就云通关就好了。最后部分设计的还算有意思，但是不值得吐一顿2333

Skookum Arts ha attirato la mia attenzione con The Pedestrian, un debutto sicuramente interessante. L’idea alla base è originale: controllare un omino stilizzato 2D che si muove tra cartelli e segnaletiche all’interno di un mondo 3D ricco di dettagli. L’estetica è adorabile e il gioco ti butta subito nell’azione, senza introduzioni: si parte e basta.

Gli enigmi rappresentano il cuore dell’esperienza. Non essendo un grande fan del genere puzzle, alcuni passaggi li ho trovati un po’ monotoni e talvolta più complessi del mio gusto personale. A volte risultano leggermente stancanti, perché il gioco procede in modo quasi continuo, senza vere pause. Pur introducendo piccole variazioni nelle meccaniche degli enigmi, la formula rimane sostanzialmente la stessa per tutta la durata dell’avventura. Rimane comunque affascinante esplorare ambienti urbani, tra metropolitane, tetti e corridoi, avanzando attraverso insegne e pannelli collegati tra loro.

La meccanica è unica e stilosa, forse non sfruttata fino in fondo, ma l’esperienza resta piacevole. La colonna sonora accompagna bene l’avventura e la durata contenuta rende il viaggio leggero, spingendo a proseguire soprattutto per curiosità di scoprire dove porterà il percorso. La storia è quasi assente fino al finale, che arriva in modo improvviso e… ancora oggi non sono sicuro di averlo compreso del tutto.

Non è un capolavoro, ma è un buon esordio: un’esperienza breve, originale e sufficiente per farmi tenere d’occhio questo studio in futuro.

Ваши действия в двухмерном мире вскоре начнут влиять на реальный мир: вы сможете открывать ворота, запускать лифты и кататься на подземных поездах. Головоломки постепенно усложняются: в них появляются переключатели, лифты, запертые двери, батуты и лазерные лучи, которые мгновенно превращают вашего персонажа в размытое чернильное пятно.

В игре очень прекрасный саундтрек в стиле Дэнни Эльфмана. Он затихает, когда вы перемещаетесь по комнатам, и становится громче и насыщеннее по мере прохождения платформенных участков, и меняется каждый раз, когда вы перемещаетесь в новую часть города.

Магия The Pedestrian отчасти заключается в том, что он без слов передаёт довольно сложный набор правил и характеристик, где плавные движения фигурки в их сложно устроенном плоском мире контрастируют с красотой и масштабом окружающего их реального мира. Всем любителям, красочных и великолепно оформленных платформер головоломок, смело к ознакомлению.

One of the best puzzle games I have ever played. My favorite puzzle game of all time is Portal, I love a game that bends physics in a logical way and makes you become one with the physics of the game. The specific reason I bring up Portal though is that after playing it with developer commentary on (which would be an awesome feature for this game) I became more aware of the ways that developers subtly teach you new mechanics in a game before you are required to use them in tandem with pre-learned lessons. I might even go as far as to say that The Pedestrian is better at subtly teaching you the lessons required to pass the levels than Portal 1 or 2. The level in-betweens are both amazing ways to just get around between the puzzles but an opportunity that the developers capitalized on in making you figure out a small but vital lesson for the next set of puzzles. Most notably was the one where they introduced the hydraulics that trapped signs and limited their movement. As part of a mini-puzzle in between puzzles you are forced to reset the puzzle after opening the hydraulics to be pleasantly surprised by the fact that the hydraulics themselves did not reset. This was then used as an important puzzle lesson in solving the next few puzzles in steps and not being so afraid of resetting, which was an amazing precursor to the paint mechanics.

Puzzle game nerd stuff aside, The Pedestrian has one of the most unique art styles in any game i have ever seen, I was so excited to go into a new sign and see just how everything looked in it, and the backgrounds were super fleshed out to the point it really felt like a full world that this little guy was roaming around. Just an all around beautiful game.

Story-wise, it perfectly balances the tightrope between too much and too little explanation. As a game I feel as though the player does not need an explanation as to who this little guy is and how he can do the things he does. It would probably just sound like "see the tarbonator hooked up to the motor. The motor ain't pushin' enough pressure out for the gas pedal..." Essentially if they tried to explain things it would just be insanity and kill some of the fun of the game, in my opinion anyway. For those who do finish the game and think "But isn't there kind of an explanation for everything at the end of the game?" To that I answer: kind of. There is an explanation as to who and what, but not how or why, the game leaves the why up to the player and the how up in the air. Who cares about how? It just isn't physically possible to do this in real life under any circumstances so there isn't sense in pretending it is. So getting back on track, to that point I applaud the developers for not doing too much.

[B]TLDR: 10/10 puzzle game, on par with games like Portal and the like (or maybe even better but don't tell Portal I said that.) Eat something before you play and really put your thinking caps on because it will not be easy.[/B]

[I]To the note of comparing it to Portal though, I will keep replaying Portal because at this point it's so easy it's mindless but still involved enough that it's engaging, plus it's much much shorter. So basically the reason I have way more hours in portal is because its essentially become a stim for me when i have nothing better to do for 20-30 minutes[/i]

This game was a trip. It has chill music, a good variety of mechanics, no missable or pressuring achievements for time or messing up. All puzzles are relatively short and this didn't feel like a big commitment of time or energy, it took me about 3.5 hours to beat the game and is well worth the price.

If you liked the 2d puzzle platformer series SHIFT, you'll like this game.

I played a pirated version back in high school. Now, I revisited this game this year as my second playthrough. I don’t remember how long it took to beat back then, but this time it took almost 4 hours. I still remember some of the puzzles were tricky and really got me thinking hard.

I still really like the puzzle mechanics. The puzzles become more challenging along the way, and I’m still impressed with the final level. It was mind-blowing, like they took an extra step further. Though I still don’t quite understand the whole story.

The core mechanic revolves around fixed/movable board signs. You play by rearranging and reconnecting board signs however you like. Just make sure the connection lines aren’t split, otherwise the doors and ladders won’t open. It’s a simple idea, but very well executed and clever.

This is a decent game. It's short but honestly much more in-depth and gameplay focused than I initially anticipated. The core of the game really is a fairly normal 2D puzzle platformer that is perfectly competent. A few puzzles made me stop and think but even breezing through I still had a pretty good time. The environments are well executed, and the various areas you travel through manage to hit a very good variety of colors and tones all while fitting inside a realistic modern city setting.
The core gimmick is cute, and it adds a lot to the experience, but the game never does much interesting with it. It really just feels like a bunch of normal puzzle game levels scattered around this pretty 3D world, which misses the potential of the idea to play with scale and perspective, or integrate normal types of signage into levels. While the puzzles can sometimes interact in small ways with the world, the world never really interacts with the levels in a meaningful way either. The game tries very hard to build this immersive world, but even with the signs placed directly in the world, they still feel so out of place, like who put that there? What is it supposed to be aside from a gameplay element?
Despite the length and missed potential, the game is still fun overall, and I would definitely recommend it on sale.

Po prostu WOW! Gra wygląda i brzmi przepięknie.
Zagadki nie są trudne, chociaż czasami wymagają dłuższego zastanowienia się.
Da się ją przejść w 3-4h. Szkoda, że jest taka krótka, bo z chęcią pograłbym dłużej.
Tym bardziej, że jest potencjał na drugie przejście gry ze względu na znajdźki - szkoda jednak, że te nie są nagradzane np. osiągnięciem.

Najbardziej jednak opadła mi szczęka na samym końcu gry, gdzie [spoiler]wychodzimy ze świata 2D i zaczynamy sterować postacią w 3D![/spoiler] Kompletnie nie spodziewałem się, że coś takiego będzie miało miejsce.
I znowu, szkoda, że tylko jedna zagadka wykorzystywała tę mechanikę. Chociaż przyznam, że nad nią spędziłem najwięcej czasu.

Jedyne do czego się mogę przyczepić to gra na padzie. Szybkość ruchu kursora w zagadkach i późniejszym sterowaniu są bardzo rozbieżne, przez co ciężko się gra. Na klawiaturze i myszce nie ma teo problemu.
Jedna dodatkowa opcja w menu załatwiłaby tę kwestię.

Alright. [i]The Pedestrian[/i] is done and dusted. This is in my estimation a both fun and unique puzzle platformer that is constantly evolving as you work your way through a variety of levels and puzzle designs.

You, for the most part, play as a stickman traveling through a city via street signs, message panels, and so on. As you progress, the game throws new gameplay mechanics at you, which you will need to figure out and incorporate into your puzzle solving. And I would say that as clever as the puzzle designs are overall, it's the adaptation to new mechanics that really creates the challenge. But, as you figure them out, the complexity turns into "Ohhhh" moments of realization and appreciation.

The overall story is that the protagonist is trying to puzzle their way through the city in order to find a way out of said city. Or so it's implied. There really isn't any dialogue. The music however is soothing and flawlessly incorporated into the game. I think the idea behind the soundtrack is to calm you down and provide an atmosphere that enhances your ability to focus on the puzzles themselves while also creating a livelier setting.

The graphics themselves are actually quite nice. As you move through the various signs, flyers, blueprints, and so on, the game treats you to snippets of the city itself. Which also does serve to help keep you from getting bored, actually. It's a well thought out presentation and one that I apopreciated.

Now, as you progress, as mentioned, you will be introduced to a variety of new puzzle designs. Some are as simple as inputting the correct code to activate an elevator, or as complex as moving pieces of a blueprint around to open valves which then give you access to more sheets of paper until you eventually are able to move on to the next level. Often, specific objects are required to move on, and acquiring those objects introduce even more puzzles, lol.

Although there is platforming, I felt there was only one puzzle where you need to actually be precise. Another puzzle actually had me needing to pause the frame mid jump in order to shift some of the hazards via utilizing the puzzle reset mechanic. Which, a lot of the puzzles require linking frames together, and if you need to change how they are linked, it will reset the puzzle. UNLESS you are able to use paint to freeze a frame. Which is another puzzle mechanic introduced later in the game.

When you get to the end sequence, the entire game actually changes, and now, the living world and the 2-D stickman world interact in order to solve some even more complicated puzzles. When this last aspect of the game was introduced, it took me about twenty minutes or so to realize what I was actually looking at and how I was supposed to progress. It's kind of all spelled out for you when you realize how these last puzzles are designed, but it did require some thought. For me at least. But I'm no puzzle game guru. That did also lead to the best "Ah-ha!" moments in the game, which is always a good feeling.

OF course, some puzzles are super simple, and that helps to increase your motivation as you begin to also encounter multi-stage puzzles. Sort of a sweet reward for your mental investment.

I really enjoyed The Pedestrian. It hits just right for a puzzle game and can be played as a pickup and play game (although you will want to take note of the various puzzle mechanics you've already learned lest you sit there like I did trying to remember after not having played for a week or so between sessions at one point, lol). Which is pretty convenient is you're busy IRL. I'd guess this would be an ideal Steam Deck game as well, although I didn't play it on the handheld personally.

But yeah, this is an easy recommendation. It's intuitive, never frustrating despite offering a decent challenge, carries a high degree of charm, and was just an overall fun and pleasant experience. It's casual without necessarily being cozy. Definitely worth a look.

A little stick figure hopping between street signs across New York City? On paper, it's original and stylish. And visually, it delivers: that 2D/3D contrast gives the game a real identity, a charm that sticks with you. It's no graphical masterpiece, but it's different, and that's enough to catch your eye.

Problem is, once the "oh that's cute" effect wears off, it goes downhill fast. Puzzles are repetitive, difficulty barely ramps up, and you spend way too much time on pointless transition screens. Worse: the controls are clunky, the camera is zoomed out too far, and pure logic alone won't save you. You have to guess, fail, then figure it out. That's not puzzle-solving, that's trial and error.

高概念，低玩法。
谜题属于高级接水管，机械枯燥程式化，难度曲线和玩法融合几乎感觉不到，太平了，没什么让人眼前一亮的地方。除了最后一关有期待的元主题升华，前面都很坐牢，节奏配比有问题。刚开始玩就觉得像在3D壁纸前面玩古早GB模拟器，接着一看确实是致敬GB没毛病，关关修到烦……我再也不说《Assemble with care》里修GB有意思了。
美术设计很棒，核心概念没阐释好。中评吧。

在多年前还没有接触steam的时候，我通过UP主：渗透之C菌了解了这个创意十足的游戏。时隔多年前来游玩，再次被制作组的创意折服！
前半段的引导和关卡难度循序渐进，而最后部分将2D世界与3D世界结合解谜简直是神来之笔！
虽然游戏流程只有4小时有点短，但是创意已经值回票价了！
槽点：游戏后半段出现的绿色药水部分的关卡设计有点欠打磨，感觉引导明显不如前半，难度也是陡增（像是为了不显得解谜难度过于宝宝巴士级别而加入的机制），唯一的卡关查攻略也发生在这一部分。而且这一段和最后2D3D结合的部分也没什么关联，有点令人扫兴。不过整体瑕不掩瑜，是值得一玩的创意佳作！

想玩一个氛围相对轻松愉快的解谜游戏的话，这是个不错的选择。
我非常喜欢这种充满巧思的小游戏，每次的新谜题都给我带来了新的惊喜。
虽然是解谜类却意外的很让人放松，甚至让我想起了小时候玩一些flash小游戏的时光。如果我是一个小孩子的话，一定可以毫无负罪感而快乐的在这个游戏前悠悠地度过几个下午吧。这游戏是你玩的下去的那种。
同时，BGM和游戏流程配合得很好，会让你有一种解开了谜题后得到奖励的感觉，或者山重水复疑无路柳暗花明又一村的新鲜感，无论是作为关卡之间的衔接，还是营造氛围，还是和玩家之间的某种互动，都是十分成功的。
同时，没有意义不明或过于困难的成就，所有成就都可以随流程获得，这一点额外好评。
最后一关我花了很久时间才明白发生了什么，要是可以多给一些提示就更好了...但搞清楚了发生什么事了之后，我还是挺喜欢这一关的。
总而言之，非常好解谜游戏，使我回到童年。
