Ich glaube ich spiele das Spiel etwa einmal pro Jahr durch. Es ist kein modernes Spiel, die Steuerung ist manchmal hakelig und graphisch ist es natürlich auch nicht mehr auf der Höhe der Zeit. Aber ich erfreue mich jedes mal wieder an der Story und an den Orten, an die man gehen kann.
Vermutlich schwingt bei mir da auch ein Retro-Gefühl mit - ich habe noch die Packung mit CD im Regal stehen - aber ich denke, dass The Moment of Silence ein tolles Point & Click Adventure ist!

Ce jeux est un des meilleurs clic et point de sa génération grace à son histoire haletante et trés voir trop proche de notre époque....
Un jeu Dystopique qui à vu 20 ans en avance les dérives de l'humanité auxquelles nous devons faire face aujourd'hui.
C'est un jeu qui parle de liberté d'expression, d'endoctrinement, du controle des états sur les populations et de la repression.
Le jeu ne te propose aucune aide contrairement aux Clic and point modernes... Pas d'objet en surbrillance, pas d'indice sur la marche à suivre ou les étapes du jeu... ce qui reforce le sentiment de ne pas savoir quoi faire et qui colle au sénario et au protagoniste qui n'est pas un flic ni un détective mais un mec presque Lambda. Une sorte de Dark soul du C&P... La dernière énigme est surement une des plus difficile à résoudre pour celles et ceux qui décideraient de la finir sans aller voir la soluce... Un jeu ou il faut faire travailler les méninges...
Bon certe le jeu à vielli et n'est pas super populaire donc oubliez un remaster même si cela lui ferait le plus grand bien.

I played this game because I was curious what the developers of the absolutely absurd Mystery of the Druids went on to make later, and if they improved on the many, [i] many [/i] flaws it had. Unfortunately, this game is as bad if not worse in most ways. I have so many thoughts about this game that I'm not sure how to order them, so I'll list things off as I think of them. Please keep in mind that I played this game on Ubuntu using Proton; I'm not sure if some of the technical aspects I'll go on to list were caused/made worse by this.

To begin, basic movement in this game is a Herculean task. The character does not like to move exactly where you click, particularly if you are clicking at the edge of the screen. But, at the same time, this game has multiple camera angles which are switched between automatically whenever you reach the edge of one camera angle, meaning you [i] have to click at the edge of the screen [/i] thoughout the game. The end result is that you'll feel like you're fighting against the controls the entire game.

The game audio was quite buggy for me; I would turn down the SFX volume only for it return to full volume upon moving to another room (the slider would still be in the lower position, however). Additionally, the mouseover text for objects in this game was all kinds of screwed up. Missing letters, swapped letters, etc. However, after looking up another playthrough of this game I think this issue was likely caused by playing on Linux with Proton, so I can't fault the game too much for it.

The story felt like a rather amateurish attempt at a standard "person takes on the surveillance state near-future dystopia" narrative. No real twists (except for the ones that anyone can see coming from a million miles away, which barely qualify as twists). Definitely not as insane as Mystery of the Druids, which is very much a negative.

Awful puzzles. Many words can (and have) been spilled about what makes a good adventure game puzzle. I have no new insight to provide on this front. All I can say is that, whatever makes for a good puzzle, most of the puzzles in this game lack it. There is an absolute abundance of punch-ins used for absolutely nothing. Some items go completely unused. Others get given to you early on, but only used far later. And the puzzle logic itself is oftentimes completely off the wall. I'm not sure how else to describe it. It definitely feels like they had a lot more ideas that ended up on the cutting room floor, but remnants of those ideas remain in the game and distract from what you actually need to do.

This brings me to one... "feature" that almost seemed like it was going to help this game be a big step up from Mystery of the Druids yet left me feeling nothing but disappointment: the "hint/highlight" system. If you hold the H key during gameplay, the game will ostensibly show you things to do. Except it only shows you exits from your current room, and it's not contextual (i.e. it isn't pointing you towards places where you can make progress, it is purely showing you exits that exist). This was completely worthless during my playthrough, because finding room exits isn't the problem. The problems are frequently either hotspots that can only be found by pixel hunting or hidden camera angles that can only be found by walking in very specific spots. But this "hint" system doesn't highlight hotspots or tell you about camera angles, so I found it to be useless.

If I had to say something good about the game, it's that some of the areas look good and the music is decent. And, in a rare case of something that improved from Mystery of the Druids, you can now explore dialog trees without having to exit and restart them every time you want to go back to a higher conversation node.

In short, unless you are running terribly short on new adventure games to play, don't play this one.

Нет, простите. Изо всех сил пытался видеть в игре хорошее и закрывать глаза на плохое. Не получилось, не удалось.
Игра очень хочет казаться эдакой внебрачной дочерью The Longest Journey и Fahrenheit, но по факту получается какой-то прообраз визуальной новеллы или симулятора ходьбы, причём крайне неудобной. Нет, правда - половину игры персонаж будет неспешной трусцой, спотыкаясь на каждом повороте, перемещаться из точки А в точку Б, вторую половину - обсуждать с каждым встречным проблемы современного общества, личные проблемы, проблемы в семье, проблемы в школе... А ещё будут головоломки, создателя которых вы неизбежно помянете недобрым словом. И не раз.
Если уж будете пытаться играть без гайдов (чего я, в общем-то, не советую делать) - помните, что у авторов игры, видимо, от перемены мест слагаемых меняется сумма, поскольку порядок комбинирования предметов в инвентаре критически важен, и на определённом этапе вы рискуете застрять намертво, если будете пытаться соединить два предмета не в том порядке, в котором задумано. Я уж молчу о том, что сама по себе комбинация вам придёт в голову разве что от безысходности... Решение для финальной царь-головоломки и вовсе лучше заранее нагуглить. Просто поверьте.
Одна радость - ближе к концу игры нам дадут поуправлять женским персонажем. Попробуйте этим персонажем "побегать" - минут пятнадцать здорового смеха вам обеспечены.
Акелловская локализация выполнена на троечку. Актёров мало, материала - выше крыши, так что вас будет преследовать ощущение, что весь мир населён двумя женщинами (у одной из которых явно насморк) и тремя мужчинами (один из которых - Джон Локк из Lost). Интонации зачастую не соответствуют ситуации, а местами реплики и вовсе перепутаны - актёр говорит одно, а в субтитрах написано другое.
В общем и целом, кроме сносного сюжета (не фонтан, но на общем фоне - сойдёт) и более-менее смотрибельных кат-сцен похвалить игру не за что.

Flaws Galore
So many and so awful flaws - and on top of that: in a game of 2005!
Clumsiness all around: A slow moving character, a slow elevator, no direction to change the screen, no fast travel ... You lose al lot of time just for trying to move.
Hotspots are not highlighted, - wait, EDIT: They can be highlighted by holding (!) the "H" key ...

and even intense pixel hunting can be unsuccessful, so be prepared to use a walkthrough - as if that game really needs another nail in the coffin.

Whow!!! Ein richtiges old school Point and click adventure das einen wirklich richtig fordert. Obwohl ich das original Spiel noch in meinem Besitz habe aber auf Win10 nicht mehr zum laufen bekommen habe war es toll dies Spiel bei Steam noch mal spielen zu können. Vielfach wird ja bemängelt das es sehr oft nicht sofort ersichtlich ist was man als nächstest tun muss und auch ich, obwohl vor vielen Jahren schon mal gespielt, musste mir ab und an doch mal wieder einige Tipps in einem walkthrough holen. Für das alter des Spiels ist der Ton immer noch voll up to Date, die Grafik ist natürlich etwas angegraut, aber eigentlich noch immer ganz ok.
Also, alle die ihre Gehirnzellen mal wieder richtig strapazieren wollen werden hier bestens bedient.
Positiv anzumerken wäre das ich keinerlei abstürze, Bugs oder deadlocks hatte, obwohl ich mit Sicherheit nicht alles vollkommen logisch abgearbeitet habe.

"The Moment of Silence" ist ein zeitloses Meisterwerk, das seine düstere und fesselnde Geschichte schon vor zwei Jahrzehnten präsentierte und auch heute noch relevant ist. Als langjähriger Fan von Story-getriebenen Spielen hat mich die emotionale Reise von Peter Wright tief berührt. Die Parallelen zur heutigen Zeit, insbesondere die Themen Überwachung und künstliche Intelligenz, machen das Spiel zu einem faszinierenden Erlebnis. Die Vollversion bietet ein noch intensiveres Eintauchen in die Welt des Spiels und hat mich seitdem nicht mehr losgelassen. Absolut empfehlenswert für alle, die sich für packende Geschichten und dystopische Settings interessieren.

Anmerkung: Als jemand, der die Demo vor fast 20 Jahren gespielt hat und nun die Vollversion genießt, bin ich besonders dankbar für die Möglichkeit, die Geschichte von Peter Wright in ihrer vollen Pracht zu erleben.

The Moment of Silence is a dated point and click game with an interesting story conveying a strong commentary on authoritarian government control, social engineering, propaganda, AI, and other political and social problems. Somehow all this came out in 2005 and basically predicted many things that is happening today and the path we are heading.
The game comes with a myriad of issues mostly due to its ridiculously slow janky movement and terrible camera angles.
Regardless of the issues the commentary and story is interesting enough to warrant experiencing but only if you are patient enough to deal with the slow movement and long dialogues.

[b]Graphics[/b]
It's obvious to state considering how old it is the resolution is low and the graphics aren't the best. The CG are kind of grainy but it isn't too bad still salvageable. Still, for it's time it actually was on par with many other point and click games and actually did something interesting that from my memory wasn't really done at all. At some points in the game instead of snapping the camera to a new viewpoint it instead zooms in forward or turn sideways following you. The main issue graphics wise is that even when the camera angles are close to you, some items are either pretty tiny or not easily discernable from the background. Sometimes these are important items and completely missing them will get you stuck.

[b]Gameplay[/b]
Nothing that really stands out, it plays just like any other point and click you'd expect. Mostly some gripes to how things are done but since it's quite old I can overlook them and just get used to the way it does things. I did enjoy the use of the phone as an integral part to the gameplay and story, instead of having phones that you interacted with at locations you have a personal phone that you will need to make use of here and there to get information.
The movement system and camera angles it takes are quite atrocious. For starters you walk pretty slow and some areas are big so moving from one end to the other takes awhile. You are able to run but it's still way too slow for how big some areas are, when moving around I tend to do something else in the meantime until Peter gets there. Another problem with the movement is that it seems there are some areas where Peter would follow a set path instead of walking straight in the direction you click. So sometimes he walks in a triangle and stuff, not the biggest deal but paired with the slow movement it just makes things move even slower. Camera angles are also a big problem, you'll need to be at specific edges to get the camera moved to new areas. This sometimes causes me to not know that there are more parts in an area, once knowing this I usually just check each corner or then found out pressing "H" also shows where you can go and stuff to interact with. Due to the janky movement and camera angle system, sometimes it gets quite difficult to get somewhere or position yourself to be in view of what you want to click. There are even moments when you would need to be at one angle to click on something but Peter would move to a different angle, from this other angle you can't even see the thing you clicked.
Interacting with objects are also kind of weird sometimes. For example there is a cabinet with 2 drawers and opening one will zoom you in, to open the other drawer even when it is within the zoomed in screen you need to exit and specifically click on the other drawer to open it.
When speaking to people there are also chains of dialogue. Depending on the discussion there could be a few branching options to speak on that certain topic. To return to a previous topic or go back to the main dialogue you need to choose to ask or talk about something else maybe 2 to 3 times sometimes.

Great for us millenials wanting something simple and comforting when going through some covid brainfog. Lovely grainy cinematics prefacing still and quiet backgrounds with an unnecessary amount of camera angles to make clicking complicated. Most of the game is waiting for the character to travel from location to location, or crawling through the needless tiers of dialogue to make you forget the direct progress instructions that each character gave you. Makes it all feel inanely lifelike. Grab a walkthrough before you start because you never know where you're going to need a fridge magnet or a hobo wire.

I have played this game until around 75% of the story. Something kept me playing; then, I gave up.

[*][b]Storyline:[/b] Average. If you have played enough AI related games, the storyline is not a big surprise or that of unique.
[*][b]Gameplay:[/b] 2 out of 5. Biggest issue 1/2: The camera angles and interaction mechanisms are not intuitive. It is quite annoying to get the right angle to find the correct exit spot from the current scene. Biggest issue 2/2: Story flow and next actions are not intuitive at all, they are out of blue: It is many times not clear what to do next. Even if you manage to find out what to do next, it is not clear why. Some examples are: [spoiler]Why would someone bother to suddenly search for neighbor's missing husband? Why would you suddenly decide to investigate the secret organization embedded in government? Isn't the technology of 2040smth able to catch a person flying in the airport twice??? [/spoiler]

Перед покупкой о "The Moment of Silence" я ничего не знал; по скриншотам из стороннего магазина было ощущение, что передо мной будет "неплохой олдскульный квест", а цена за ключ была смехотворной: всего лишь 60 рублей. Уже во время прохождения увидел смешанные оценки в Steam, но раз начал, то надо и закончить игру. После 2 концовок (да-да, их тут 2: неправильная и каноничная, так сказать) могу сказать, что игра вызвала крайне [u][b]смешанные эмоции[/b][/u].

Хотя поначалу сюжет интригует: внезапно нашего мирного соседа арестовывают ночью, новостей об этом никаких нет, а в полиции отвечают, что вообще ничего не было. И после этого сюжет неплохо так раскручивается, но на второй половине начинаешь замечать уж больно много косяков:

[*]Да, у главного героя Питера неплохо прописано развитие его характера: от наивного и законопослушного гражданина до человека с полным недоверием к государству. Вот только местами Питер бывает уж больно тупым и... непредсказуемым.

[*][spoiler]Например, при чтении дневника Грэхема Освальда замечаешь 2 пункта: он, как и Питер, тоже общался с кое-какой девушкой в чате, которая не раскрывала свою личность, и тоже "выиграл" билет на Лунар-5. Так почему Питер никак не среагировал на эту инфу? И почему он никак не подумал, что поездка на Лунар-5 может закончиться плохо? Данные параллели проводятся уж очень просто. Если бы он даже прокомментировал это, было бы достаточно, но нет, он тупо молчал.[/spoiler]

[*]Питер, узнав, что за всеми следит правительство, всё равно какое-то время пользовался своим личным коммуникатором, который отправляет всю информацию. Это вообще самый глупый поступок! [spoiler]Вдобавок, когда на Лунар-5 Питер видит производство летающих аппаратов, которые ну прям ЗАМЕТНО похожи на то НЛО, которое его просканировало ночью... он никак это не прокомментировал. Тип это непонятно для него было?[/spoiler]

[*]Также нам ни разу не представляли Питера как сильного человека (лишь была инфа, что он обычный работник и типа лидер в рекламном агентстве), но при этом он спокойно карабкался по верёвке на дирижабль. Вот честно, просто одного упоминания, что у него была хорошая спортивная подготовка, было бы достаточно, а так, такая внезапная "способность" вызывает вопросы. И вообще, зачем на таком транспорте верёвка? Не легче было сделать лестницу: она же удобнее?

[*]В тюрьме нам рассказали историю про преступника, который почти сбежал из тюрьмы, но в итоге не получилось: море было холодным, его подстрелили, а на кровь приплыли акулы. И у меня вопрос: как Питер смог доплыть до берега, не наткнувшись на акул и не замёрзнув, будучи в полуоткрытой куртке и джинсах? И вдогонку: как он смог в такой одежде (да, она вообще не меняется за всё время игры, к чему тоже есть вопросы) выжить при холодной погоде в горах? И как он смог долететь ОДИН до Аляски?

[*]Как Питер связывался с Хантингтоном по коммуникатору, если тот говорил нам напрямую, что отвергает все современные технологии и общается только по голубиной почте?

[*]Нам так рьяно рассказывают, что правительство за всеми следит, на всех собирает информацию, да и вообще, всё это попахивает конкретным тоталитаризмом, вот только как такое могло произойти при высоком уровне контроля:

[*]Он расхаживал без каких-либо проблем по важной по сюжету платформе.

[*]Он спокойно спрятался в верхнем отсеке дирижабля, и полицейские после нескольких НЕУДАЧНЫХ попыток открыть верхнее отделение просто ушли.

[*]Питер спокойно убежал из аэропорта, который кишел спецназом.

[*][spoiler]На ЛУНАР-5 Питер спокойно зашёл в секретный отдел, в котором не было НИ ЕДИНОЙ камеры, и спокойно вышел.[/spoiler]

У вас сбежал один человек, и после такого надо пресекать ЛЮБЫЕ возможности побега. Но нет, Питер спокойно сбегает с помощью этого дерева, а куда смотрел наблюдательный пост - непонятно.[/spoiler]

[*]Пилоты вертолётов не заметили, в кого они стреляют? Им не показалось странным, что сигнал маячка Питера показывал на Статуе свободы в самом верху, а при включённом свете там была сорока? У них всё нормально со зрением?

[*][spoiler]Нам говорят, что Грэхема пытают в самом нижнем отделении тюрьмы, зато в канализации нам рассказывает Профессор, что Грэхем сбежал. Вопрос: а кого тогда пытали во время нашего пребывания в тюрьме? И как именно Грэхем смог сбежать во время пыток (да, нам Профессор объяснил, но честно, это было очень туманное объяснение).[/spoiler]

[*]Везде есть камеры, КРОМЕ канализации, где как ни странно, может спокойно прятаться кто угодно.

[*]Спецслужбы говорят Деборе, что никому (ни ей, ни Томми) нельзя выходить из квартиры, хотя пару минут назад Томми спокойно катался по коридору и даже пообщался с Питером через щель в двери (куда смотрел агент, стоящий в этом же коридоре - непонятно).

[*][spoiler]Как Грэхем смог вообще подготовить личный самолёт (привет, рояль в кустах).[/spoiler]

[*][spoiler]Никто не прилетел на главную станцию с ИИ, где происходит анализ всех данных, когда Питер спокойно расхаживал по ней.[/spoiler]

[*]Ко всему этому прибавляются сомнительные технические моменты. Да, хоть игра и 2005 года, но техническая составляющая ужасна.

[*]Предметы после использования не исчезают из инвентаря, а навсегда остаются, и снова становится непонятно, а нужны ли они нам потом будут. Но как окажется, многие вещи после использования становятся мусором и попросту забивают инвентарь.

[*]Многие загадки неитуитивно решаются, например, загадка на платформе (благо, в прохождении объяснили решение), сцена с "подарком на Лунар-5" (непонятно, как её триггерить) и последняя загадка (я несколько раз читал объяснение, но так ничего не понял. Вот реально, вопрос к тем, кто создавал её: вы сами-то решили её?).

И вот честно, мне сложно как-то однобоко оценивать "The Moment of Silence", ведь сюжет реально зацепил меня: да, в определённый момент он начал трещать по швам, но в общем и целом, сама история оказалась очень даже хорошей. Загадки, в общем и целом, решаются логически, но есть те, которые интуитивно не решишь вообще. И всё это завершает кривая техническая составляющая, которая оставляет желать лучшего.

Увы, поставить смешанную оценку нельзя на данный момент, но если выбирать между двумя оценками, то мне сложно рекомендовать игру, в которой куча недочётов, а сюжет лишь неплохой. Поэтому вы видите здесь отрицательную оценку.

Willkommen bei den Synchronkoryphäen von Julia Roberts (Daniela Hoffmann) und Bruce Willis (Manfred Lehmann). Eins der besten Point&Clicks, weil alles die Geschichte vorantreibt, ein Film als Spiel. Die Geschichte ist so gut, dass man die Laufwege und die Gesprächsführung in Kauf nimmt. Gute Dialoge zu Freiheit vs. Sicherheit, erschreckend aktuell. Dramaturgie top (nur der Schluss zu kurz). It does have its charm but I can't in good conscience recommend it.

-The voice acting is pretty good and the story is pretty engaging but the good points stop there.

-The resolution is low and a weird letterbox aspect and its locked to 40fps, there are no graphical settings whatsoever.

-The low resolution makes it difficult to see items and the built in hot-spot tool doesn't work properly; it doesn't reveal all interactions or sometimes shows an interaction but in the wrong place. Hot-spots are weird in general in this game in that sometimes they disappears when you get closer.

-The conversation system malfunctions in that occasionally the coloring indicates the dialog tree has been exhausted when actually there are still questions to ask when you drill down.

-The camera and navigation are atrocious. It can be painstaking to get the character to go where you want or even see where you can go.

-Half of the game you will be waiting for other characters animation sequence to finish or just waiting for your own character to run somewhere. There is no skip scene feature.

Unfortunately it just hasn't aged well and I don't think I can take much more of this, I'd buy a remake though if its ever made as I would like to see how the story goes.

Würde man mir sagen "Wir bauen eine Schnellreisefunktion und eine Hotspotanzeige ein" würde ich dieses Spiel nochmal ungesehen kaufen. So läuft man aber bis zu 5 Minuten von wichtigem Ort A zu wichtigem Ort B, durch eine Doppelklickfunktion würde man im gesamten Spiel ungelogen STUNDEN(!) sparen. Die Rätsel waren größtenteils fair, auch wenn das finale nahezu absud schwer war. Die Story war immerhin ganz solide, nur etwas holperig am Ende. Leider schlecht gealtert für heutige Spieler

Wow was für ein geniales Spiel!!! Mein letztes Point&Click-Game liegt schon ein paar Jahrzehnte zurück und ich habe es mega genossen, mich mal wieder durch ein Spiel zu klicken und Rätsel zu lösen. Die Story ist von Anfang an spannend erzählt und es kommt nie Frust auf, da die Rätsel doch recht logisch aufgebaut sind. Selbst die nervigen Laufwege die einige bemängeln haben mich nicht gestört. Kleiner Tipp: mit einem Doppelklick rennt der Protagonist.
Das Spiel hat auf jedenfall mal wieder Lust auf andere Point&Click-Spiele gemacht und wird in nächster Zeit nicht das letzte sein das ich zocke.
Von mir gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Die Geschichte ist unlogisch und klischeebehaftet. Die Motivation des "Helden" ist kaum bis gar nicht nachvollziehbar, die des Antagonisten aber noch viel weniger: Der böse Supercomputer, der seine Feinde wahlweise in den Urlaub einlädt oder in das unsicherste Gefängnis der Welt steckt, aus dem man einfach über die Mauer entkommen kann. Interessant sind maximal die etwas antiquiert wirkenden Visionen der Zukunft aus dem Jahr 2004, die das Jahr 2044 mit PDAs und Zeppelinen ausstatten.

Ein altes Spiel aber von der Optik "nett".
Steuerung grausam !!!
Die Geschichte hervorragend !!!!! ( wirklich Super )
Die Rätsel haben es teilweise in sich. Ich musste mir Hilfe bei "spieletipps" holen. Bei "YouTube" hätte
es zu lange gedauert, denn da hat man sich auch schwer getan !
Empfehlung ist nicht einfach.
Das Spiel ist spannend und hat mir viel Spaß gemacht !
ABER :- bei der Steuerung kann man wirklich verzweifeln und es nervt,
- das Spiel kann auch mal abstürzen oder sich aufhängen
(ist mir 2 mal passiert und nicht gespeichert..... "Hauptgewinn"! Man kann aber jeder Zeit speichern !! )
- an einer Stelle auf "Luna 5"kamen öfters 2 Fehlermeldungen, einfach auf "Ok" drücken dann läuft es weiter
- die Rätsel, wenn es nicht klappt einfach Hilfe holen ! Die Geschichte ist "spannend" da verkraftet es das Spiel
wenn man mal mogelt. (oder auch öfters. :-) !! )
Man braucht schon etwas Nerven und Geduld, aber es lohnt sich, finde ich.
Am Besten vorher auf "YouTube" in "let's play" ansehen und dann entscheiden.
Ich habe es nicht bereut das ich mir das Spiel zugelegt habe !!!

✅ enjoyable puzzles. they are not too easy or overly complicated. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items
✅ likeable, empathic and relatable lead character
✅ main and all of the side characters in it have rich, full backgrounds. they are interesting and believeable
✅ dated but still good looking pre rendered graphics and character models
✅ decent voice acting
✅ well made cinematic cutscenes
✅ background musics bolster to general atmosphere
✅ game quite long
✅ there are two ending (good and bad)

Overall, this is an decent old school adventure game. The Moment Of Silence has a great thought-provoking and well written script, well-developed interesting and diverse characters, but the game mechanics are quite old and cumbersome. therefore i recommended to play this game with an walkthrough.

House of Tales games are basically enhanced movies. They exist for the story alone. They aren't going to give you lots of puzzles or even lots of inventory items. It's all about the story. Overclocked was one of the better stories in any adventure game. It had me dying to know what happened next. I'm hopeful this one will do the same.

The guy voicing our hero sounds like the same guy from the Overclocked game. Captain Doom. Everything is wrong all the time. One thing that bugs me is the kid Tommy. Why does he have a German accent while his parents are American? That just seems like a very stupid error to make. Unless he was adopted fairly recently, there's no reason for that. Takes you out of the game. In fact all of the actors seem to be Germans putting on American accents. It comes out at the strangest times. They range from halfway decent to caricatures of what a German actor would think a New Yorker should sound like. A few of them are almost comical in how bad they are at acting which keeps things interesting.

One funny thing about the kid Tommy is his room. He's got every toy known to man, but he sleeps on a dirty mattress on the floor. Guess the developers didn't feel like drawing a proper bed for the little guy. LOL

The main character is a bit of a moron. He keeps wandering around questioning thugs and criminals about the exact nature of their business and then lecturing them about it. This guy would have a gun in his face so fast he wouldn't have time to blink. Maybe that's what he wants so he can be with his family again. It just comes off as annoying and criminally naive to have a guy like him getting angry with a pawn shop clerk for buying stolen material. This is America. It's called capitalism. He isn't responsible for figuring out where every item comes from. Also, Hero's manner of speaking gets irritating after awhile. He will give these long pauses in between words or sentences. It's like GET ON WITH IT ALREADY. This is a dialogue heavy game so we don't need this guy slowing us down.

There is a LOT of backtracking in this game. I mean a LOT. This wouldn't be so bad if the places you can interact with weren't at the end of an extremely long road or down a flight of 300 steps that we must watch Hero walk down each one. This game is trying to be as realistic as possible, but they seem to forget that this is a game so people don't need to see an airport lounge without anything to do inside. We are constantly treated to huge city scenes where our hero has to run a mile to reach his destination EVERY SINGLE TIME. If we want to back to his apartment on the 23rd floor, we have to watch a the elevator rises each floor in real time! Not to mention getting a ride in a taxi and having to watch him pay for it each time. Whatever happened to double clicking to make things move faster? The game also does not have any indicators like feet or arrows to show us whether we can go that way or are at the end of the world. So you just have to guess where you might be able to walk. It's pretty annoying. Not to mention that there is very little to interact with. The developers threw in various things we can click on that have no bearing on the game. Oh look, a person we can speak with! You click on him and our guy says he doesn't know him so won't talk to him. That was ok the first 10 times, but it got old and annoying as well. Oh look a museum exhibit. Nothing to see here folks.

One other small thing that's irritating is there's no way to pause the game. Even if you go to the save screen, action and sound on the screen continues. I even alt-tabbed and the sound was still playing and I could hear my guy moving around. That means that if you need to pause the game to get a drink, something can happen while you're gone. Not sure if that was the developers' clever little joke based on the game's themes of artificial intelligence getting too big for their britches, but it's annoying. We shouldn't have to quit to the desktop just to be able to pause a game.

And yet once again with a House of Tales game, the story is intriguing. It makes you want to know more about what will happen. These guys are great writers but not very good game designers. They should be writing films instead of games.

This game is a little clunky and rough around the edges but it has something that any decent point and click adventure game needs - a storyline that makes me HAVE to find out what happened and not stop until I do! You start out witnessing a man being taken away by the authorities. As you start to dig deeper, and then gain the trust of his wife left behind, that's where the story begins. The style here is pre-rendered, so no real hand painted backgrounds, but that's okay - and there are still plenty of intricate little details. The acting is above average for the most part. Also you can double click to make the character run if you don't want to wait for him to walk across a huge area. Unusually for Steam this obscure game runs really well without crashing (good job - because Valve won't be helping or refunding you if it doesn't - you are beneath them). I did buy the original DVD-Rom but sadly, Windows 10 being what it is there is NO chance to get that working again, so I had to rent the game from Valve instead.
It really is a great game and a great storyline that pulls you in - with its "they're watching you" theme running throughout. That's a well worn theme yes, but this game pulls it off really nicely.

Wie man an meinen Screenshots sehen kann, erzielt man so eine beachtliche „HD-Qualität“ – deutlich schärfer als die Shopbilder.

[i]TMoS[/i] ist eine deutsche Adventure-Produktion, die durchaus das Zeug zum Hollywood-Blockbuster gehabt hätte.

Das Bremer Entwicklerstudio [b]House of Tales[/b] (HoT) hat sich in seiner aktiven Zeit einen Namen bei Adventure-Fans gemacht.
Die Spiele waren stets filmisch inszeniert, erzählerisch ambitioniert und atmosphärisch dicht. 2010 wurde das Studio leider aufgelöst.

Meiner Ansicht nach ist [i]The Moment of Silence[/i] das beste Adventure des Hauses.

Fun Fact: Irgendwer bei HoT scheint einen [i]Augen-Fetisch[/i] gehabt zu haben – in fast jedem Spiel werden die Augen einer Figur groß inszeniert. Wie heißt es so schön: [i]„Die Augen sind das Tor zur Seele.“[/i]

Das [b]Sounddesign[/b] ist herausragend: Atmosphärische Musik, stimmige Geräusche und vor allem eine [b]exzellente deutsche Sprachausgabe[/b]. Peter Wright wird von der deutschen Stimme [b]Bruce Willis’[/b] gesprochen – und das sitzt! Professionelle Sprecher, glaubwürdige Emotionen, starkes Voice Acting.

[b]🕹️ Gameplay & Rätsel[/b]
Aus heutiger Sicht merkt man dem Spiel sein Alter an.
Es gibt keine Hotspot-Anzeige, kein Hilfesystem, keine Schnellreise – außer über die futuristischen [b]SatCars[/b], mit denen man entlegene Orte ansteuern kann. Das bedeutet: [i]viel Lauferei[/i], wie man sie auch aus [i]Syberia[/i] kennt.
Das Rätseldesign lebt teils von diesen Limitierungen: Man sucht, kombiniert, spricht mehrfach mit Figuren. Aber das gehört auch zum Charme.
Die Rätsel sind logisch, aber teils fordernd – ein paar wirklich harte Nüsse sind dabei. Ein Griff zur Komplettlösung kann also mal erlaubt sein.
Hier steht klar [b]die Geschichte im Vordergrund[/b], nicht die Mechanik.

Cependant, un soir alors que les rues du quartier sont calmes, un commando lourdement armé portant l'uniforme de la police entreprend l'arrestation de votre voisin dans une violence inouïe !

Par curiosité, vous entreprenez des recherches et apprenez que la Police n'a commandité aucune action de cette nature la veille.

I can barely recommend the game, it took me all my willpower to see it through to the end. If you exclude the quite gripping story, this game is nothing but a horrible horrible chore that is not worth your time. And even with the story, the game will only be bearable to the truest veterans of point n' clicks. The worst part of The Moment Of Silence is the absolutely excruciating and retarded navigation system - moving to adjacent scenes is almost impossible due to there being no hotspots to click, you just wander around wondering if there'll be a scene change if you click on a few pixels at the corner of your screen. To add insult to injury, our protagonist Peter will sometimes stroll wherever he fancies and not where you click - good luck catching him afterwards, 'cause that dude starts running all over the place, and just when you're about to stop him in his tracks he'll run into a different scene and your click will register at a place you never meant to go to. And there he runs again...

There are also some other terrible design decisions. For example, the movement is very slow, and you cannot skip your journeys between scenes like you're used to in many point n' clicks - sucks big time when you have to go down the same long street for the millionth time. If this doesn't prove the game likes to waste your time on trivial stuff, just wait until you need to microwave some food - you need to wait 2 real minutes until the food heats up. What the f... Then there's the pointless "animations" - every time Peter visits his apartment on the 23rd floor, you're shown an animation of the elevator floor indicator climbing up from 1 to 23. The first time it was kinda cool. The 50th time it no longer was. You have to watch it every time, it takes a good 15 seconds, there's no skipping it and adds exactly zero game value.

Is there anything good about the game? Well I think the art was really nice but it sure feels dated these days. A tiny pixelated man running in a somewhat detailed but also pixelated background. The ambient music also fits the dystopian futuristic New York. And I think the good points end here, apart from the really superb-ish story that I mentioned before. It leaves many unresolved pieces, in the end we don't know what happens to 90% of the secondary characters, but the plot is definitely the only aspect of the game keeping the head of this positive review above water.

Az alapjában érdekesnek tűnő történetet hamar gajra vág minden egyéb, legfőképp az irányítás, a kamerakezelés, valamint a borzasztó pályatervezés a sok üresjárat rohangálással. Félúton a sztori is átmegy gagyiba. Ami értékelhető, az a létrehozott világ, a puzzle-k alapjai (de az már nem, ahogy néha meg kell oldani azokat!), illetve a szinkron és a zene is elmegy. Csak erős idegzetűeknek!

Я в шоке от этой ПАРАШИ!!! Далеко продвинутся не успел, дошёл до момента, где робот требует пароль, чтобы попасть на работу. Пароль ГГ не помнит, решается задачка получением нового пароля. Так вот - робот называет пароль, а в списке ответов его нет, там 4 варианта и все неправильные. В итоге всё - финиш дальше пройти нельзя. По ходу игру делали дегенераты.

Gameplay's bad. Story not good enough to warrant such bad gameplay. Really bad navigation system for a point-and-click game (you can miss finding areas just because you haven't moved your characters to some parts of the screen), fake difficulty in puzzles (walking around takes so much time, just to check interactable objects that are parts of the puzzle. Ich habe ja nichts dagegen, wenn man sich über die Lösung von Rätseln Gedanken machen muss. Und dann schließlich auf eine logische Antwort kommt. Aber leider ist es halt bei etlichen Spielen, wie diesem so, dass die Protagonisten sich nicht gerade logisch verhalten. Oder auch nicht bedächtig vorsichtig, oder nicht einfach normal verhalten.
Die Navigation im Spiel ist schrecklich. Man muss schon den richtigen Punkt auf dem Bildschirm treffen, damit die Person auch wirklich dort hin läuft wo man will. Dann plötzlich ist die Richtung des Betrachters vertauscht und man würde wieder in die Richtung zurücklaufen, wenn man seiner Intuition folgen würde.
Die Story an und für sich wäre ja nicht schlecht, wenn man nicht den Eindruck bekäme, als wollten die Entwickler die Spieler in eine bestimmte Richtung manipulieren.

Spiel an sich ist richtig spannend mit stimmiger Handlung. Auch der Sound mit Sprache und Hintergrundgeräuschen sind super. Aber die Steuerung ist ein Graus. Keine richtigen Zielfelder um eine bestimmte Position zu erreichen, dadurch ein eher wildes hin und her Gelaufe. Auch den Ablauf hätte man besser machen können um nicht 10 mal den Ort hin und her zu wechseln. Außerdem sind viele Grafikfehler zu verzeichnen. Wenn man im Gefängnis dem Vogel tagsüber den Zahn anbindet und dann Richtung Baum läuft hängt sich die Steuerung komplett auf. Gut wenn man vorher noch ein Spielstand gespeichert hat.
Daher wenn man über Programmierfehler hinwegsehen kann und viel Geduld hat durch die Gegend zu laufen ist das Spiel trotzdem zu empfehlen.

Oh dear. An interesting, dystopian story made incredibly frustrating by its gameplay.
If your story involves *a lot* of going backwards and forwards between locations, talking to people multiple times and interacting with objects in a specific order, please don't make it a walking simulator as well. Then don't add a camera view that reorients the character constantly while only being able to move to locations or interact with objects if you get into just the right spot so that the camera will allow you to see the thing/next location you need.
I ended up finishing the game with a walkthrough just because I became too tired of trying to determine if I was on the right or wrong track before persevering with walking (running) from location to location, waiting for my character to very slowly make his way across the screen then hunt the pixel to move to the next screen or get the right camera angle to do the action that would let me progress.
I know it's an old game but sweet J#$%$! Bless the improvements in gameplay we expect as basic these days!
I love my adventure games and this one does have a reasonable story but prepare yourself for maddening interaction.

Hra s hodně povedeným příběhem, který je bohužel doplněn nepříliš vhodným zpracováním.

+ Příběh je dobře propracovaný a promyšlený. Nicméně trpí pomalejším tempem vyprávění. Postrádal jsem velké napětí, které by mě udrželo u hry dlouho do noci, abych zjistil, co se stane dál.
+ Na svou dobu celkem slušná grafika.
+ Jsem wrestlingový fanoušek a proto mě potěšil plakát legendárního André the Gianta vedle Nuclear Cafe. :-)

+- Hra má old school adventurní obtížnost, což může být pro někoho super, pro jiné důvod k ukončení hraní.

- Největší slabinou je technické zpracování, kdy hlavní hrdina musí procházet spoustou lokací, kde se nic neděje. Při prvním průchodu je fajn, že si například po přivolání výtahu musím počkat, než výtah dojede, ale když tudy procházím po páté, desáté, dvacáté, atd., je to neskutečně otravné. V kombinaci s tím, že se někde něco zpřístupnilo to znamená neustále opakující se prozkoumávání všech lokací a to je skutečně o nervy.
- Další věcí, která je technicky nezvládnutá, je přepínání kamer na okrajích obrazovek. Je totiž nutné trefit přesně určitě místo, kam musí Peter dojít, aby se kamera přepnula. Takže se často stává, že postava na kraji obrazovky pobíhá sem a tam, dokud hráč netrefí místo pro přepnutí. To v kombinaci s častým opakovaným procházením působí opět velmi otravně. Stejně tak se snadno stane, že hráč ani netuší, že se tam nachází další obrazovka.

Shrnuto, podtrženo, hru můžu doporučit opravdu jen hodně trpělivým hráčům, kteří si chtějí vychutnat dobrý příběh. Ostatním bych doporučil se této hře spíše vyhnout, případně si jen vychutnat její příběh prostřednictvím nějakého dobře zpracovaného let's play, protože hraní je místy opravdu peklo.

This game runs into all the standard problems that plague the point-and-click genre with the added insult of making you wait WAY too long for certain animations. That being said, the game had a decent story and some, SOME, stellar voice acting, in particular I loved Linda and the guitarist. Definitely deserves some of the "Mixed" reviews, but worth the play. Don't buy this at full price.

The Moment of Silence is a point and click adventure game released in 2005. While the premise of the game is very good, the publisher/developer hasn't kept it up to date. The resolution is fixed at a 4:3 aspect ratio and can't be changed.

I could only recommend this to people who played the game in 2005 and want to play it again, and because they probably already own the game, this is an extremely niche audience.

For everyone else, it's too old, and the aspect ratio and fixed resolution problem prevent me for recommending this (the ludicrous $20 price tag doesn't help either).

I was quite surprised and emotional to see this old classic on Steam. I have played it many years ago. So of ocurse this was a must get for me.

The storyline is fun, graphics are decent, considered the age of the game. I am happy with it, Oh, and it also works out of the box with Steam Play!

Что ж, закончилось моё многочасовое мучение. Приличную часть этого времени игра потратила на перемещение персонажа от одной точки интереса к другой... Да, он умеет бегать, но этого крайне не достаточно. Другую часть времени (наверное, до половины от общего счётчика) съела "разнообразная" анимация. Например, сотня посадок в такси, чтобы добраться до другой локации. Хочу особенно выделить сценку с гопником Хуаном, которая просто ни в какие ворота не лезет.
Я никак не могу понять, почему разработчики игр не стремятся сделать интерфейс максимально удобным и приятным для пользователя. И не надо пытаться все проблемы управления списать на год издания игры - The Longest Journey была выпущена в 1999!
Нас будут всю игру заставлять повторять одни и те же действия, какие адекватные разработчики обычно после первого выполнения пропускают либо сами производят за игрока автоматически и в ускоренном режиме. Я имею в виду идентификацию себя на входе в бизнес центр, звонок старьевщику и т.д. Также герой будет периодически заходить в такие закутки, откуда можно выбраться, только кликнув на полу в углу экрана зону в 2х2 милиметра, предварительно её отыскав, конечно, методом тыков, именно тыков, т.к. я сомневаюсь, что вы в десятку попыток уложитесь в некоторых местах.
Последняя загадка, а вернее то, как она построена, как построено само здание это вообще бред.
Безусловно, в игре есть и плюсы, но, принимая во внимание всё вышеперечисленное, говорить про них просто смешно.

Ich bin etwas hin und her gerissen ob Empfehlung oder nicht, aber trotz der guten Story habe ich mich für Daumen runter entschieden.

Größter und entscheidender Frustfaktor: ENDLOSE LAUFWEGE und absolut unintuitive Wegführung ohne hints. Beispiel: man braucht vom Auto bis in den Flur seines eigenen Hauses sage und schreibe 54sek in denen man nichts tun kann, außer den Pixeln auf dem Bildschirm zuzuschauen. Diesen Weg muss man recht häufig zurück legen und es macht das ausprobieren und tüfteln zur Geduldsprobe, denn "oh, habe ich das gecheckt?" bedeutet erneut eine Minute lang warten, bis die Animation sich fertig animiert hat.
Es gibt keinen Indikator dafür, wo sich Laufwege befinden, d.h. ohne wildes geklicke auf dem Screen geht hier gar nichts. Selbst wenn man weiß, wo man hinwill sind manchmal seltsame Umwege nötig, damit man den Raum im korrekten Winkel sieht um mit dem gewünschten Bereich interagieren zu können.

Hints gibt es keine, das finde ich aber nicht weiter schlimm. Etwas störender ist das Fehlen eines Logbuches, wenn mann sich also nicht gemerkt hat, was man als nächstes tun soll - viel Spaß beim rausfinden.

Insgesamt habe ich bei diesem Spiel viel zu oft eine Komplettlösung benutzt - nicht weil die Rätsel zu schwer waren, sondern weil ich keine Lust hatte, zum falschen Ort zu gehen und wieder 2-3min Animationszeit in Kauf zu nehmen.

Sehr schade.

This game had an excellent story, and generally good puzzles, but a few bad mechanics made it very tedious to play.

Camera angles were poorly planned, often flipping around in the middle of a scene. This turns forward into backwrd, and left into right. This made the game very disorienting and confusing to play, *especially* during maze sections.

Often, only part of a room would be shown, and you would have to find the correct place to move your character so you could access a new camera view. Poor pathing and having to guess what position would trigger the change made this excruciating.

Finally, there were often large, open spaces that our character needed to cover, in one case dozens of times for the same puzzle, and there was no zip or quick exit feature. You have to watch your character run slowly through the whole space *every* *single* *time*.

Can I recommend this game? It has a good story. However, it is unacceptable that the dev team let these mechanical issues persist past development, let alone playtesting. Play it if you're very patient.

At first I thought 'The Moment of Silence' was a decent game if somewhat dry and generic with awkward controls that left me not knowing where to click on the screen to move from one location to another. By the time I was two thirds of the way through the game I just wished that it was over, and really that I hadn't even started playing the game in the first place... even as I managed to crawl to the end of the story. Whatever interesting ideas there are in this game are buried under way too many transition screens and shopping lists of dialogue.

Another thing that really got me was the lack of decent roles for the female characters. After dead wives; helpless wives; manipulative online girlfriends; silent secretaries; defective AI; and untrustworthy street solicitors I was starting to think that maybe it would be nice to get some variety in the female NPCs that you interactive with in this game. But then I was introduced to an even worse female character ([spoiler]a ditsy skimpily dressed resort hostess who unwittingly described how she got her job by being pretty and [u]failing an IQ test[/u][/spoiler]) and I started thinking that maybe the poor roles for female characters was on purpose. I certainly didn't see any problems with the roles for male characters.

I just don't think it's worth digging through the mountain of generic ideas; poor mechanics and controls; and seeming misogyny to find the good in this game. I wouldn't recommend 'The Moment of Silence' even if it was free.

Un point&click de 2004 qui correspond aux standards de l'époque, si ce n'est qu'il traite de thèmes de société plus actuels que jamais au point d'être pratiquement visionnaire sur certains aspects, ce qui en fait un titre à absolument (re)découvrir.

A New-York en 2044, la société est mondialisée et dirigée par un gouvernement unique. Peter Wright se retrouve seul dans son appartement dans lequel il peine à faire le deuil de sa femme et son fils qui sont récemment morts dans le crash d'un avion. Un soir, il est témoin de l'arrestation musclée de son voisin sous les yeux atterrés de sa famille. Il va mettre de côté son travail dans une agence de publicité pour mener l'enquête sur cette affaire. Ce fait divers va s'avérer être très révélateur du fonctionnement réel de la société.

The Moment of Silence aborde les questions du respect de la vie privée, de la protection des données personnelles, de la façon dont on peut nuire aux libertés individuelles sous prétexte d'assurer la sécurité, de l'accès à l'information indépendante, de l'emprise de la technologie sur la vie quotidienne, de la propagande des gouvernements et de la stigmatisation de leurs opposants, du cynisme du marketing qui contrôle la population en lui donnant l'illusion du choix ou l'impression d'être priviégiée. On parle du SETI, d'Echelon 2 et de la NSA comme des moyens pour le gouvernement d'espionner les citoyens.
A vrai dire, le scénario en lui-même n'est pas absolument extraordinaire et les énigmes ne sont pas particulièrement difficiles mais les dialogues sont très nombreux et très riches et l'essentiel du jeu repose sur les conversations qu'on a avec les PNJ et les documents qu'on lit.

Techniquement, on a le traditionnel clic gauche pour se déplacer, le clic droit pour examiner et gérer les objets de l'inventaire. Les actions sont parfaitement intuitives, on combine les objets de manière très facile et leur utilisation est presque toujours parfaitement logique et évidente. Il faut comprendre qu'il est essentiel de toujours bien vérifier d'avoir épuisé toutes les possibilités d'interaction car certaines zones sont très réduites, que réaliser une action quelque part peut provoquer un changement ailleurs et qu'il faut VRAIMENT tout regarder, tout écouter, tout lire car pratiquement tout aura une importance tôt ou tard. Je me suis même aidé avec quelques notes sur un bout de papier pour me faciliter la résolution de certaines énigmes. Le système de dialogue fonctionne selon un système d'arborescence dans lequel les 2 ou 3 questions de départ permettent d'accéder à plein de questions secondaires et il faut penser à sélectionner l'option "j'ai une autre question" ou "j'aimerais parler d'autre chose" pour épuiser toutes les possibilités de dialogue. Certaines questions ne suscitent parfois pas seulement une simple réponse mais entraînent toute une partie de conversation, ce qui est assez bien vu car ça fluidifie l'action et met encore davantage en évidence le contenu des échanges. Le doublage en français est très bon avec Patrick Poivey (Bruce Willis) dans le rôle de Peter mais aussi les voix françaises de Jennifer Garner dans Alias, de Sarah Michelle Gellar, Winona Ryder et Teri Hatcher ou enfin celle de Matt LeBlanc dans Friends.
Il y a deux fins possibles (une bonne, une mauvaise) selon les toutes actions qu'on fait. Si on opte volontairement pour la catastrophe ou si elle survient par mégarde, on a automatiquement la possibilité de rejouer la dernière minute pour connaître l'autre fin (l'inverse n'est pas vrai par contre).

J'ai vraiment beaucoup apprécié ce jeu mais il faut néanmoins relever quelques points qui peuvent déplaire :
a) Il y a finalement peu d'action, peu d'énigmes, peu d'objets et peu de réelle originalité dans le scénario mais les thèmes abordés sont ce que le jeu veut vraiment mettre en avant et ça c'est passionnant même si certains trouveront peut-être tout ça trop bavard ou seront ennuyés par la longueur des dialogues.
b) si on est vraiment attentif à tous les indices, on peut résoudre les énigmes de manière très logique mais y a quand-même l'énigme finale qui est vraiment mais vraiment très pénible à réaliser et pas franchement logique
c) le gros point noir du jeu auquel on finit malgré tout par s'habituer est tout ce qui concerne les déplacements de Peter. Les angles de caméra changent parfois de manière intempestive ou à l'inverse il est souvent compliqué de sortir d'un plan. Il est parfois compliqué de s'orienter dans certains lieux, de découvrir tous les endroits auxquels on peut accéder ou de guider le personnage dans la bonne direction. Il n'y a pas les fameuses flèches dont à l'habitude pour sortir de l'écran donc on doit diriger Peter au bon endroit pour déclancher le changement de plan et ce n'est pas toujours très logique et intuitif (par exemple, aller à gauche pour pouvoir aller à droite ou devoir cliquer à des endroits différents de l'écran à chaque chagement de plan pour continuer à avancer tout droit dans un couloir).

Bref, un jeu méconnu mais que vont adorer ceux qui s'intéressent aux thèmes abordés et qui trouveront plaisant d'avoir autant de conversations à suivre et de voir toutes les réflexions que ces sujets peuvent susciter.

Да вы что, тогда будет логично, а мы логичных игр не делаем. И главный герой начинает череду пустых разговоров, глупых поступков и прочих особенностей квеста старой школы. Чтобы суметь задать нужный вопрос в общении с кем бы то ни было, необходимо выслушать уйму словесного мусора. Да, его можно пропустить кликанием мышки, однако, когда писался сценарий, чем думали сценаристы? Если вы стоите около книжной полки, а слева от вас находится компьютер, то не ждите простого пути к нему. Главный герой отойдёт в коридор, а оттуда уже направится к компьютеру - лёгких путей мы не ищем. Ещё кого-то может выбесить лифт: живём на 23 этаже, а этот негодник вечто торчит на первом :) Игра 2005 года, но скидки на это не дам, ибо в этом году анонсировали Mass Effect, вышел потрясающий мистический триллер Fahrenheit, почти кинематографичные шутеры Quake 4 и Serious Sam II. Не буду спорить, что игра может кому-то понравиться, ведь в ней много приключений, много локаций, художники постарались на славу. Мне глупости эти начальные испортили настроение, игра не зашла.

ich verstehe die durschnittliche bewertung nicht, die story ist am anfang eher lahm: vorstellung der szene, arbeit, allgegenwärtig zukunftsdesign.

obwohl scifi nicht so viel abgewinnen kann, musste ich zwischendurch öfters mal pausen einlegen, weil mich das spiel nicht in seinen bann gezogen hat. später so ab den 2-3 tag wurde ich völlig geflasht von dem spiel, die story wurde knackiger und das ganze setting wurde schon in kombination des geschehens verknüpft, sodass man leicht in so einer situation lebt.

was mich besonders begeistert hat an dem spiel, war das aufzeigen aktueller technischer und politischer themen, die zu einem problem der bevölkerung wurden.

ich musste einfach hier ein review geben, weil eine durschnittsbewertung finde ich echt zu niedrig, sry.

This game is un-f-word-ing-beleivably bad. I had played two other games by House of Tales, Overclocked and 15 Days, and they were really good, so I thought I'd try this one, and what a mistake that was...

The game was mostly mechanically bad. It's very difficult to figure out where to make the character walk to transition screens, some of them have click locations, but others you have to walk to a certain part of the screen to get the transition to happen, and to make it all the worse the character just moves where he wants to anyway.

Most of the puzzles aren't overly complicated, though there are a few that are unforgiveable... The real issue is that many of the puzzles involve "go here, then there, then to that other place, then back to there", and the character movement is so bad and slow and you have to go through so many screen transitions to get anywhere that in the end it's just an annoyance. The game is padded with a bunch of walking around. If you end up walking to a location then finding that what you need isn't there, you're going to be angry real fast.

About a quarter of the way through I gave up and used a walkthrough for every step of the way, because going to one wrong location meant like five minutes of walking around for nothing. I don't want to waste my time walking around when all I was interested in was the story. Near the end of the game I thought maybe I'd try to figure it out on my own again... Big mistake.

The last puzzle in the game was the worst. There are 5 important screens in it that you need to go back and forth between, but you have to walk through 6 screens to get from one to the other, that means there are 36 annoying screens to walk through when all you cared about was 5. To go through them in the most efficient way possible (using a guide) you would walk through 48 annoying screens to solve it. And that's using a guide. Without a guide I'd imagine you'd be doing a lot more than that because there is some trial and error involved.

Don't waste your time with this game. There are a lot of better adventure games than this, and for a story driven game it's just not worth it.

The Moment of Silence propose une bonne histoire, une progresion majoritairement logique, des graphismes vieillots et une jouabilité éxécrable.

Ce jeu nous place dans un univers d'anticipation dont la clé est le contrôle de l'information qui n'a pas pris une ride avec la question cruciale du réglage liberté/sécurité dans un système démocratique. On navigue quelque part entre Bradbury et Orwell. Nous y guidons un monsieur tout-le-monde projeté dans une enquête qui le dépasse et qui, de doute en doute, perdra son insipidité apparente et sa naïveté initiale. Evolution assez classique pour ce genre de jeu d'un perso friable, loin du super-héros inébranlable dans ses convictions mais que j'ai trouvé plutôt intéressante et bien scénarisée. J'ai bien aimé aussi les autres protagonistes et personnages de rencontres qui tout en restant dans l'archétype propre à ce genre d'univers (le junkie, le geek, le parano, le conspirationniste...) ont pour la plupart suffisament de fêlures pour éviter la caricature.
A noter à ce propos que, hors quelques répliques usées jusqu'à la corde de personnages secondaires pittoresques, la marque de fabrique de The Moment of Silence n'est pas l'humour. Si vous sortez de Book of Unwritten Tales, vous allez déprimer grave. Non, là on est dans le sérieux et mes moments de franche rigolade tenaient plus à l'aspect daté des graphismes et animations, voir le héros sérieux comme un pape sortir un magnétoscope VHS de la poche intérieure de son blouson est un grand moment !

La progression de l'aventure se base essentiellement sur des dialogues et la collecte de quelques objets. En de rares occasions il faudra faire un peu d'assemblage ou résoudre un puzzle. Si vous n'aimez pas le verbeux laissez-tomber, certains arbres de dialogues sont très longs à épuiser. Globalement c'est assez logique à part les énigmes de l'aéeroport qui partent dans le grand n'importe quoi. Mais comme dans beaucoup de jeu de ce type, réaliser les conditions spatio-temporelles prévues par les développeurs pour les déclenchements de la progression donne parfois le sentiment de tourner un peu en rond à la pêche d'un objet ou d'un dialogue oublié.

Le gros problème de ce jeu est qu'il est désagréable à jouer. Au rayon défaut supportable, les dialogues : les arbres de dialogues sont trés denses et leur organisation obligent à revenir incessament sur certaines branches pour être sur de de rien rater, le code couleur censé indiquer les dialogues épuisés ou non étant plutôt bugué. Au rayon "Rhhhhaaaaa mais je vais jeter ce jeu par la fenêtre !" les déplacements : le pathfinding est désastreux, le suivi caméra fait tout ce qu'il peut pour nous désorienter et les points de transition entre zones sont incompréhensibles. Je n'ai jamais réussi à m'habituer à cliquer à gauche pour partir à droite, devoir faire des détours pour arriver à trouver un angle de vue réactif... voir le perso zigzaguer dans un labyrinthe en alternant plan caméra devant/derrière/latéral avec le couloir de droite qui devient le couloir de gauche puis celui de devant plusieurs fois en quelques secondes est un grand souvenir psychédélique mais pas vraiment un bon moment de jeu video. On en est presque soulagé d'arriver à ce taxi ou cet ascenseur dont on va se peler l'animation pour la 4723ème fois.

Avis positif pour l'histoire de bonne qualité et de durée raisonnable.

I have mixed feelings about this game. It has the potential but there is something missing.... I don't know, I guess some things could have been done a bit differently. A few aspects - including graphics, the plot and evene some mechanics were sometimes a little dissapointing. Some things vere too obvious, some others made little sense.
If I could give a note from 0 to 5, I wuld say 3. You can play it, but don't expect too much.

Close to one of the best 3rd person adventure games I've played . Amazing graphics and cut scenes. Big differance with "The Moment Of Silence" is it's more like a movie/game than most pure 3rd person point and click adventures.. Very iIntersting futuristic setting (sort of) and easier gameplay in that you can't make a disasterous mistake. Still took me over 21 hours to play.. That was off and on however! What I really loved about this stroyline is that no matter how long you left it when you came back it never got to the point where i forgot the goal/mission or what the story was about. That happenes far to often in some adventure games!
My only negative to be honest is this game probably has the most I chit chat in it i've ever seen!
Still, I'm looking forward to finding more like this!

The Moment of Silence is a game that has some solid ideas but is held back by sloppy game design.

The plot is a decent but run-on-the-mill conspiracy story loosely inspired by Orwille. Whatever plot twists it has are textbook. There is nothing special or groundbreaking about it except the world-building, used as commentary on the fear of surveillance of private communication. This aspect is actually kind of culturally relevant and even somewhat thought-provoking due to the information age we currently live in. The pacing is good, first letting you to know the area Peter Wright, the protagonist, lives in, and getting more tense and action-packed later on.

Puzzles are mostly solid, but some of them rely on typical cartoony adventure game logic (you put a live bird inside your pockets on two occasions) which clashes with the tone of the game. Furthermore, I felt that some of the puzzles were insufficiently hinted/signposted, leaving me confused about what my goals were. As the gameplay makes the game tedious to play (I'll get to that soon), I resorted to using hints a couple of times.

The dialogue trees. Oh the dialogue trees. Each time you meet a new character, you are faced with a laundry list of topics to click through. The dialogue is at times moderately witty but is also extremely long-winded. Once you've exhausted a topic and must backtrack in the dialogue tree, you have to select some variation of "There is something else I want to ask about", which will quickly become a phrase you will never again want to hear in your life. As a result, the conversations become utterly unbelievable and repetitive. The saving grace is that conversation options that have not been selected yet are highlighted, but on the other hand this is also a constant reminder of the checklist-of-questions nature of the discussions. Some of the NPCs are colourful enough, but fail to have any great chemistry with the protagonist due to his nature.

The main character has no personality. He's a very generic Anybody who randomly decides to embark on an adventure because the plot requires him to. You know, in my teens I drew a parody comic that poked fun at thriller/mystery plots, and one of the side characters I came up with was a guy who acted like a stereotypical point and click adventure game hero. He'd unnecessarily voice his thoughts aloud in a deadpan way that told nothing about himself, and engage in conversations in an awkward start-stop fashion as if he was navigating a dialogue tree. Peter Wright is exactly like that. Any traits he possesses are the bare minimum required: a sort-of-negative-opinion of the villainous forces or other obvious but shallow ones (e.g. basic sarcasm). He doesn't go through any meaningful change. And this is not helped by the monotonous performance of his voice actor. At one point you get to briefly control Mrs. Oswald, whose husband is kidnapped in the intro, and I thought she would have been a much better main character with a stronger motivation.

Then there's the backtracking. The game features large, beautifully rendered backgrounds, yes, but traversing through the long corridors and wide plazas quickly becomes tedious. Near the end of the game you have to go back and forth through a series of tunnels just to fetch a single item. Exits of screens are often unobvious and the camera angles sometimes change confusingly. Have the developers ever heard of the 180 degree rule? Combine these with the fact that the path-finding of this game is notoriously terrible - Wright will from time to time run several meters in the opposite direction before going where he was supposed to - and you will soon long for any other control scheme. Luckily, pressing and holding H reveals hotspots and exits, which reduces the pixelhunting.

None of these are absolutely game-breaking, but these do severely bring down a game that isn't really outstanding in the first place.

Будущее, 2044 год. Везде всё компьютеризировано - газеты, книги, бумага и ручки/карандаши запрещены (!) законом. Тут есть ИИ, трёхмерные аватары вместо собеседников онлайн (привет MS) и квадракоптеры на службе у государства.
Играя в квест и узнавая про всякие интересные законы, начинаешь догадываться о существовании систем тотальной прослушки всех телефонов, чтения почты и социальных сетей, распознавания лиц со всех камер наружнего наблюдения, отслеживание перемещений людей по их смартфонам.

Сегодня закончил играть в этот квест и только тут на странице узнал, что оказывается игра 2004 года!! 2004 года, Карл!! Фэйсбук появился в феврале 2004 года! Не было никаких айфонов, квадракоптеров и распознавания лиц. А по ходу игры мне казалось, что она выпущена чуть ли не в 2014-2015, потому что в ней рассказывается об огромном скандале, связанным с тотальной слежкой АНБ за людьми, типа того, что заварил Сноуден! И результатом этого скандала стало закрытие АНБ в 2017 году!
Создатели игры явно что-то знали и пытались донести до нас!

Un jeu agréable qui m'a fait passé un bon moment. Le scénario est recherché et on se retrouve dans des lieux improbables et un peu WTF (comme Lunar 5), c'est justement ce qui fait tout le charme de ce jeu.
J'ai été un peu blasée par les déplacements insupportablement lent (et pas de double clic pour aller directement au prochain écran alors on poireaute) et les recoins parfois introuvables à moins de cliquer partout dans un accès d'agacement "mais où il est ce type qui m'appelle !!". Pour tout vous dire, j'étais coincée chez moi au début j'ai du regarder la soluce pour savoir qu'il fallait marcher vers le bout du couloir pour que la caméra change et qu'on voit l'ascenceur... ! ET ça me l'a fait régulièrement...
Alors bon, mitigée. Mais je le recommande quand même parce que ces quelques défauts ne doivent pas faire oublier l'histoire assez riche et intéressante, et les personnages loufoques ou non qu'il rencontre dans son aventure. Par contre, je ne pense pas que j'y rejouerai de si tôt. Contrairement à Overclocked, jeu du même développeur et qui lui, est vraiment terrible !

I played this game years ago and the story had always stuck with me. When it went on sale, I made sure to buy a copy. The story is positively riveting and predicted the NSA scandal and surveillance drones 10 years before their occurrence. This alone makes the other predictions of the game to be even more interesting/ominous.

I know a game's story is powerfully interesting when my husband takes off his headphones from playing Overwatch to listen to what I'm playing ;)

I really appreciate the sheer number of locations and scenes in The Moment of Silence offers. All too often point and click adventure games these days keep to just 3 locations with just a few different points of view. The Moment of Silence keeps you on your toes with a huge variety of locals.

I have to say the character movement can be a bit clunky at times. Also, sometimes I had to click on obscure points in order to fully explore an area. While I felt like the majority of the puzzles were orangic and intuitive, there were a good handful that weren't so and were confusing.

Overall, if you love a good Sci-Fi story, enough locations to really feel like an adventure, and don't mind keeping a walkthrough handy, The Moment of Silence is a game I would recommend you purchase. If it's on sale for $10 or less, definitely snatch it up!

The moment of Silence est un bon jeu dans l'ensemble. Sa bande-son est sympathique, son scénario est excellent et propose une vraie intrigue tout à fait intéressante, ses graphismes sont d'époques mais restent acceptables.

Ce qui est moins positif c'est le nombre de déplacements qu'on doit faire dans le jeu qui sont démoralisants, les allers-retours inutiles mais indispensables si on veut pouvoir progresser. Enfin le gameplay est carrément insupportable ! Par exemple, pour tourner au coin d'une rue et passer à la suivante il nous faut cliquer bien dans un coin précis du tableau et c'est pratiquement toujours comme ça ! J'ai noté également quelques incohérences tellement énormes que cela m'a fait sourire ou souffler... (si toi aussi tu n'es jamais contrôlé à l'aéroport alors dis moi comment tu fais ! Etc etc).

Bref, The Moment of Silence reste un jeu d'aventures à la sauce point & click assez soigné qui se révèle attachant et agréable si on arrive à passer sur ces quelques défauts notamment de jouabilité... >> 13/20

Das erste mal habe ich The Moment of Silence vor etwa 10 Jahren gespielt, dann verliehen und nie wiedergesehen. Aber meine Erinnerungen an dieses Spiel waren auch nach 10 Jahren noch so eindrucksvoll, dass ich es mir noch einmal kaufte und mich daran setzte. Und was soll ich sagen: es tat meiner Gamerseele ungaublich gut ein Adventure der alten Schule zu spielen. Keine Rätselhilfen, keine Hotspots, kein Tagebuch mit Hilfefunktion - einfach schön :)

Von der Story über einen Überwachungsstaat und dessen Umgang mit den Bürgern, über die einzelnen Charaktere bis zur unglaublich großartigen Musik ist an diesem Spiel absolut nichts auszusetzen. Man unterhält sich gerne mit den Charakteren und läuft Wege auch mal doppelt ab um sicher zu gehen, dass man nichts übersehen hat, ohne dass es zuviel wird. Die Rätsel sind logisch und meistens auch nicht zu schwer, sodass das eigentliche Hauptziel des Spiels - nämlich die Story zu genießen - nicht unterbrochen wird.

Wenn dieses Spiel einen negativen Punkt hat, dann sind es die teilweisen langen Laufwege und die Wegfindung. Aber das stört im Gesamteindruck des Spiels wirklich nur minimal, zumal der Charakter per Doppelklick auch zum Rennen bewegt werden kann.

The Moment of Silence ist eines der besten Adventures, die ich jemals gespielt habe mit einem Soundtrack, der dich nicht mehr loslässt und einer Story, die gerade in der heutigen Zeit auch zum Nachdenken anregt. Absolute Kaufempfehlung für Adventurefreunde und solche, die es werden wollen!

Ahhhh Moment of Silence, does it get anymore mediocre? Released back in 2004 you would swear it was made in 1994. It falls for a lot of the pit falls many 90's point and click adventure games did back in those days(I still loved many) and the graphics are about on par for the era. You will find yourself wondering have I explored this whole area or do I need to attempt to walk off screen in some weird fashion(yes it's one of those)? You will also find yourself at the mercy of multiple illogical or poorly designed puzzles although the game isn't terribly difficult. It is packed with boring dialogue and little action even for an adventure game. The game has a post 9/11 USA feel to it with government so large it is watching everyone all the time. Very Orwellian feeling. I actually did enjoy this aspect of the game and the statement it was trying to make but not enough to forgive its annoyances. Play it if you've already played through all of the great point and clicks but please, dear god, don't make it one of the few you'll ever try. You may find yourself wondering,"I haven't even played through all the Sam and Max franchise what am I doing playing this #$%&!"

Also erstmal ... Das Spiel hat eine total merkwürdige Wegfindung die einen manchmal in die irre treibt. Die Rätsel sind teilweise auf dem niveau extrem schwer, und man weiß oft nicht was man machen soll.

Ihr werdet dafür mit einer extrem spannenden und außergewöhnlichen Story belohnt.

Die Dialoge mit den verschiedenen Charakteren der Geschichte machen Spaß (Besonders der Robo in der Eingangshalle der Firma war super lustig :D )

Die Bruce Willis Syncro des Protagonisten ist Hammer !

Die Schauplätze sind wunderschön inszeniert.

Ein Spiel mit Ecken und Kanten, aber mit mehr Charakter und Flair als jeder große AAA Titel

Es ist düster, beklemmend, die Story ist der absolute Hammer, und nachdem ich es durchgespielt habe, hat es mich mit offenen Mund zurückgelassen und ich dachte mir nur: Das muss man verfilmen !
