Essa review é para toda a série. O jogo tem sua limitações e definitivamente parece ter uma animação um pouco antiga em alguns momentos, mas isso não é totalmente negativo. Tanto a estética, quanto os puzzles e a história fazem lembrar muito da era point and click da LucasArts.
The series has come a long way from the first chapter. Chapter 3 has the biggest scope yet, mixing elements of pulp adventure, cyberpunk, and heavy metal to bring The Journey Down to a blockbuster finale.

Ich habe alle 3 Teile zu 100% auf meinem Steam Deck gespielt und hatte keine Probleme. Da es sich nicht um die Leistungsintensivsten Spiele handelte, konnte ich immer recht lange spielen, ohne dass der Akku schnell leer ging.
Mein Fazit bezieht sich auf alle 3 Teile
Man merkt dem ersten Teil an, dass er im Vergleich zu den beiden Nachfolgern noch etwas ungeschliffen daherkommt. Der Spielfluss ist noch nicht so flutschig wie in den nächsten Teilen. Trotzdem ist es ein toller Start in die Serie und stellt einem die Charaktere vor, die einen über alle 3 Teile hinweg begleiten werden. Viele Figuren haben auch in den folgenden Teilen ihre Auftritte. Somit wirkt die Spielwelt und Geschichte sehr stimmig und man fühlt sich in die Welt hineinversetzt.
Grafik/Atmosphäre
Der Stil der Figuren im Spiel ist sicherlich gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber ich mag das recht grobe Design mit den großen Köpfen sehr. Grafisch gehört TJD zu den schönsten Adventures, die ich in den letzten Jahren gespielt habe. Alles wirkt optich wie aus einem Gruß. Die Schauplätze sind oft schön belebt, es bewegt sich viel und so kommt eine tolle, lebendige Atmosphäre rüber. Man wird in diese Welt hineingezogen und kann, wie ich finde, sehr gut darin abtauchen. Allein die Spiegelungen hier und da sehen klasse aus, vor allem wenn es auch mal regnet. Hier trifft der Art Stil genau meinen Geschmack und ich wünschte ich könnte mehr in diesem Stil genießen. Die vorberechneten Zwischensequenzen sind für mich ein absolutes Highlight. Sie sehen einfach klasse aus und das für ein so kleines Team. Da wurde viel Zeit, Geld und Mühe reingesteckt. Die Zwischensequenzen passen super in das normale Spiel, bieten viele Aktion und eine super Inszenierungen. Hätte ich so nicht erwartet.
Sound/Sprachausgabe/Musik
Ich liebe die Soundtracks. Klassische jazzige Tracks, die auch Wiedererkennbarkeit haben. Der dritte Teil wirkt etwas moderner und weniger jazzig. Das liegt aber auch daran, das der Komponist von Teil 1+2 leider verstorben ist und beim dritten Teil jemand anderes übernommen hat. Aber auch Teil 3 hat einen toller Soundtrack, geht aber mehr in die Elektro-Richtung. Ich habe mir alle 3 Soundtracks bei Bandcamp gekauft. Die Erlöse davon kommen einer Stiftung zu Ehren des verstorbenen Musikers zu gute. Die Musikuntermalung passt perfekt zum Spiel und auch zu den jeweiligen sehr unterschiedlichen Orten.
Die englische Synchro ist auch einfach nur klasse. Hier merkt man den Sprechern an, dass sie die Rolle sehr gut interpretieren und ihnen Leben einhauchen. Zusammen mit den guten deutschen Untertiteln, war das eine wirklich runde Sache. Jede noch so kleine Rolle hatte gute Sprecher.
Rätsel
Die Rätsel sind eigentlich immer nachvollziehbar und ich habe selten mal festgehangen. Eine interne Lösungshilfe gibt es nicht und auch Hotspots habe ich nicht gesehen, aber ich habe in der Steuerung auch nicht explizit danach gesucht. Mir haben die Rätsel Spaß gemacht und mich mehr unterhalten als frustriert. Sie haben sich immer logisch in die Spielwelt eingereiht, daher kann ich mich hier nicht beschweren.
Sonstiges
Es gibt viele tolle Schauplätze und das Spiel wechselt auch hier und da komplett die Orte. Die einzelnen Bereiche fühlen sich weitläufiger an, ohne dabei zu überfordern. Man findet sich immer schnell zurecht und weiß, wo man hin will.
Die ganzen Figuren im Spiel machen einfach Spaß und wachsen einem mit der Zeit ans Herz. Sie entsprechen dabei eher dem klassischen Gut und Böse und sind auch gerne mal etwas überspitzt gezeichnet. Aber das passt zu der Welt, in der man sich befindet. Hier und da gibt es auch Referenzen auf unsere reale Welt. Themen wie Ausbeutung der Natur, böse kapitalistische Großkonzerne, korrupte Politiker und Polizisten gibt es auch in dieser Welt. Als Gegenstück gibt es aber auch Spiritualismus, Freundschaften, Hilfsbereitschaft etc., also für jeden etwas dabei, würde ich mal sagen.
Fazit
Sehr kurzweiliges, dreiteiliges Adventure mit toller Synchronisation, klasse Soundtracks und einer für Adventures schicken Optik. Wer eine interessante Geschichte mit tollen Figuren und schönen Rätseln sucht, dem seien alle 3 Teile wärmstens ans Herz gelegt. Für aktuell 15 Euro für alle 3 Teile eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Ich würde davon gern mehr sehen. Vielen Dank an das Entwicklerteam.
Puzzles are a little simpler in this one, and we could have spent more time in Underland, but it's still well worth the playthrough.

The Journey Down: Chapter Three concludes the story of The Journey Down, when Bwana and friends reach the mysterious Underland at last and have their final showdown with the Armando Power Company.
Bwana, Lina and Kito finally make it to the Underland, although they don't stay there for long, as the power company's plan is finally coming to a head. Bwana and Kito return to St. Armando to stop them, with the help of some new friends they meet along the way. We actually get to play as Lina for a section of this game, as she stays in the Underland to help take out the Power Company from that end. This chapter felt more fast-paced than the previous two, and relied more on cutscenes to tell the story. The characters continued to be funny and likeable, and we got to revisit a few from the previous chapters. The puzzles were the most straightforward of the series. I definitely had to think about a couple of them, but unlike the other two chapters, I never had to consult a guide. The ending scene with Bwana, Lina, and Kito was a nice send-off to the characters.
Considering how much build up it got in the first two chapters, the Underland ends up being a little underwhelming. The city settings in the rest of the games feel lived in and full of atmosphere, and the Underland seems like it should be lush and vibrant, but it ends up feeling kinda empty and underdeveloped. We just don't get to spend a lot of time there, as most the game ends up being set back in St Armando. In a cast of interesting, funny and colorful characters, the villain, the head of the Armando Power Company, stands out as being bland. We never learn his name or what exactly he wants in all of this. There was what I guess was supposed to be a bit of a twist at the end, but it just left me feeling confused about what our bad guy was trying to accomplish in the first place and how his plans fit together, which made the ending a little unsatisfying for me. I would have liked the game more if the final setting and the final villain that were teased in the other chapters were more fleshed out and worth the wait.
Overall, The Journey Down taken as a whole added up to a pretty good adventure game series. The characters were fun, the setting and story were interesting, and the puzzles were consistently pretty logical. Chapter Three was definitely the weakest of the three chapters, but was a decent conclusion to the series as a whole. 7/10

Fix your price!
Very enjoyable finale to the trilogy. Same vibe as the first two chapters with a similar style storyline and puzzles, perhaps not so puzzling as the first two parts. It's been more like a visual novel than anything else but the characters are engaging and the music is first class. A satisfying end to the series.

A rousing finale to the Journey Down adventure! More impressively diverse atmospheric locations to visit, with characters I've grown to love over the series! The music brings it home, chilled in places, roaring action packed when needed! The story and mystery is brought to a satisfying close, through fantastic old school cut scenes. The Journey Down has definitely scratched my itch for classic point n click adventures, choked full of lovable characters, intriguing stories, and fun places to explore! Kudos to the dev team!!

The third chapter of The Journey Down is the weakest of the three chapters.
Characters are still likeable. Voice acting and sound design is still good, but the puzzles get too straight forward and linear, there is no more brainpower needed to get through the story. The game feels more like a visual novel than an adventure.
My rating for Chapter Three is 6/10, still recommended.
Amazing third and final chapter for this creative adventure! I love its universe, its strong and unique aesthetic and the exceptional musical work. It's pretty accessible and short, I enjoyed it a lot!

Game World: The game world in The Journey Down Chapter Three (TJD3) is easily the most vast of the three games. You’ll end up visiting a huge variety of locations from all over the universe of TJD. A big portion of the game takes place back in St. Armando, which is the same area as the first game, so I enjoyed that somewhat familiar throwback vibe.
Overall, this is a lovingly crafted game world worthy of a conclusion. I found it teeming with soul and purpose from NPCs.
Narrative: The narrative in TJD3 is a bit conflicting. At times it's the best of the series, while other times it's very lackluster. TJD3 picks up immediately after TJD2. The plots that were laid out in the first two games (mostly Chapter Two) is the focal point of Chapter Three. You tie up any loose ends and mysteries as you proceed to the end. The question becomes: is the payoff of plot points concluding from TJD1/2 worth it?
Ending thoughts: [spoiler] TJD as an entirety is only about ~7 hours long across three games. So while I am a bit disappointed with the ending, I think the investment wasn’t a big deal. If this ending was at the end of a 40 hour game, then I would be instantly not recommending this game. It just seems like once all of the plot points were wrapped up, the entire ending took 1 minute and everything was “Happily Ever After”. I really think after building up the game world so well, that TJD3 needs a better send off. [/spoiler]
Length: As with other TJD games, TJD3 is short, I finished it in about 3 hours.

Controls: No change from previous TJD games, point-and-click.
Mechanics: Aside from new puzzles, no change from previous TJD games. The premise across all three games has always been to find items and combine them with other items or things in the world to solve puzzles.
Difficulty: Very similar to TJD2 - the puzzles seem more logical and generally easier to understand than TDJ1.

Quality: Similar to TJD2, the graphics here are good.
UI: All 3 games have had a consistently simple and effective UI.
Performance: No issues with performance other than my gripe of graphical options being too limited, lacking a decent borderless fullscreen option when you need to tab out and look at a guide for when you’re stuck. I played this solely on my desktop PC.

Sound Effects: Similar to TJD2, there is good voice acting, but not many other sounds.
Music: The music in TJD3 is definitely the oddball of the series. TJD1 and 2 focused on a kinda Rasta jazz mix. TJD3 is more like a Stranger Things 80s rock vibe. I think the music was still good, but it wasn’t as unique as the prior entries.

So aside from the continuation of the story and the new soundtrack, nothing is really different in TJD3. You have the same mechanics, the same controls, the same graphics (though, TJD2 looked better than 1 IMO), and the same abysmal replay value. So lets be real, as good as the music is, no one is buying a game only for the music, which leaves the plot as the only redeeming factor in TJD3. I did not think the plot was strong enough for a concluding entry.
As for the series in its entirety? In my opinion, I would say the destination is not worth the journey. I got these games super cheap at like $2 each, so maybe then, but if I’m just comparing the entire series, content wise, I would say to skip unfortunately, as the devs put a lot of heart into these games.

Die Charaktere, die Dialoge, die Locations...einfach alles SUPER NICE und die Puzzles sind auch genau richtig.
Ich kann es nur empfehlen, denn es ist super angenehm zu spielen, fesselnd mit jeder Menge Humor und macht definitiv Bock auf mehr !

The story continues where chapter 2 ended.
It is a short game with a fairly successful animation. The story unfolds in the form of a puzzle and makes you think about what to do next.
The work done by this small studio can be seen from the menu. They deserves all the admiration. The soundtrack is original and I like the Jamaican accent of the two protagonists the most. Enjoy.

With some poorly rendered cutscenes aside, this game manages to be an incredibly fun experience. One of my favorite point-and-click franchises ever. Love the characters and art design.

If you liked those - give this a chance and get drowned in details, holiday like feelings and adventure! I really hope to see sth like that agin in the future or ... sth completely different!!<§

This is a very traditional point and click adventure game in the style of old Lucasarts games. The developers have stayed very pure to that style of game and haven't gone out of their way to add much in the way of modern quality of life improvements. The game also leans into some of the old obscure puzzle solutions which will have you trying everything with everything (which is extra frustrating when you aren't sure you've actually found everything in the first place). Having said that, if you are OK with that style of game then there is a lot to like here with an interesting graphic style, world building and story. The game shines when it puts you in urban environment, but it's a little underwhelming graphically when you reach The Underland. The writing isn't outright funny but it is amusing and there are enough compelling characters to keep you coming back. Out of the three chapters I'd say 2 is the strongest whilst the 3rd is the weakest. This chapter felt very much like they had set themselves up for this huge pay off to the story which involves visiting multiple distinct areas of the city as well an multiple areas within The Underland but still had to do it on the same budget that they had for the previous two chapters which had massively smaller scopes. The city sections are the most successful but in comparison The Underland feels like you are looking at concept art rather that the highly detailed backgrounds you get in other areas and chapters. Still entertaining, but it definitely feels stretched thin and unlike some of the proper classics of the genre I was happy to put this down rather than wishing I could spend more time in the world.

Kapitel eins und zwei habe ich wohl verpasst, aus einem unbekannten Grund hat es nur das dritte Kapitel in meine Bibliothek geschafft. Aber mal schauen, ob mir hier etwas entgangen ist. In diesem klassisches Point-and-Click Adventure steuern wir Bwana auf der Suche nach einer alten Kultur, dabei wird er von seinem Kumpel Kito und der Forscherin Lina begleitet. Wir klicken uns also durch verschiedene Bildschirme und rätseln ein wenig. Dabei scheinen mir die Rätsel nie sonderlich komplex zu sein und manches löst man halt einfach durch Ausprobieren. Die Grafik bringt schon ihren eigenen Stil mit, was wohl primär daran liegt, dass die Köpfe der Protagonisten an afrikanische Holzmasken erinnern. Die Dialoge ziehen sich teilweise und irgendwie geht mit Bwana mit der Zeit ganz schön auf den Keks wegen des ganzen Gebabbel. Das ist durchgängig gut vertontes Englisch, wahlweise kann man sich deutsche Untertitel einblenden lassen. Wer auf der Suche nach einem Point-and-Click Abenteuer ist, kann hier mal reinschauen, man sollte aber keinen Hochkaräter wie Monkey Island oder Zak McKracken erwarten.

Chapter One sets the stage, but is a sort of warm-up, to get you used to the characters and the environment. I gave it a 6.8/10 for a point and click adventure.
But, WOW, Chapter Two was great--I gave it a 8.2/10, a big step up and a more fully fleshed-out game and more wonderful animations and artwork.
Chapter Three exceeds Chapter Two. Lots of action early that really propels the story early, which is nice.
Yes, there are a lot of corny tropes about evil corporations and villains and the sanctity of nature and the need to protect it, but the humor and wonderful art and great, lovable characters made the full journey totally worthwhile.
I would have liked more puzzles to solve, but I appreciate that this game was more about the story...and the "Journey". I also was impressed by the dramatic change in the artwork when the player finally gets to see the "Underworld"! So very satisfying! Wonderfully executed and illustrated! :)

Como dije en las anteriores: Deliciosa banda sonora y un arte chulísimo. Y gracias a Sheen de Tradupixel, en perfecto español.
Great finale to one of the most interesting adventure games I've ever played.
Nice game, with good puzzles, not to hard, not to easy. There are voice overs - that's really special nowadays :-) The graphic is simple, but good for an adventure. I liked it a lot.

Gran, gran final de la saga. En esta tercera entrega, todo el argumento va acelerándose y adquiriendo sentido, se cierran tramas y por fin el final del plan aparece. La aventura en ese sentido tiene un toque más serio/negro debido al argumento, pero sin olvidar el humor de las entregas previas. Paisajes preciosistas y, aunque no destaca por sus gráficos, se nota la evolución desde la primera entrega.
Muy buena banda sonora, entrañables personajes y, aunque no es una aventura demasiado difícil en sus puzzles, es una saga que destila una añoranza de las viejas aventuras gráficas de los 90 innegable. En esta entrega, además, es como si Grim Fandango hubiera conocido a Monkey Island, por las ambientaciones, lo cual ya es el deseo onírico de todos los amantes de las aventuras gráficas. Me encanta que los puzzles sean lógicos y no puede haber un final más épico.
En definitiva, una gran entrega y una gran trilogía. Muy recomendable!

For this chapter art direction seems to be all over the place.
Some parts it looks like a beautiful mixture of a well made 3d with hand painted features, while others (like the island part) it looks like some half assed sketches.
Soundtrack for this chapter couldve been better.

Ce troisième chapitre vient clore l'aventure de belle façon. On retrouve nos protagonistes qui poursuivent leur aventure à la recherche des secrets de l'underland. Les graphismes sont toujours réussis et colorés dans la lignée des deux premiers épisodes et l'humour est toujours bien présent.

Le jeu fait de nombreuses références au cinéma. L'aventure se boucle en 3 à 4 heures et met un point final à cette histoire. Au final le jeu dans sa totalité est très réussi et devrait plaire aux amateurs de point & click. Les bonus accessibles depuis le menu du jeu permettent de voir le travail de l'équipe derrière le jeu.
Great ending to a great game.
This is a grossly underrated trilogy. Played all three chapters and felt like I was on a cinematic adventure. The soundtrack is amazing! It's clear a great deal of thought was poured into every detail. The last chapter contained a few puzzles that made it clear the team was looking to wrap things up, but it didn't take away from the journey and the fantastic elements of the game. I'm so happy I gave this point & click adventure a chance...soars above some other titles in the genre with it's unique and creative approach to style, cinema and sound. Would suggest picking up the trilogy bundle if you're looking for an enjoyable gamine experience.
Started the series just so "I wouldn't have wasted my money buying them", ended up loving it. Nice story, good ending, no-walkthrough-needed puzzles, and interesting art.

A super charming series with a truly wonderful soundtrack (and a surprisingly metal ending, LOL)!
I’d say a must-play for any fan of PnC adventure games. It’s not the most super-polished game ever, but I can tell a lot of heart went into making this. The music, the overall vibe, and the characters are all so charming. I enjoyed every moment of exploring their world.
None of the puzzles are super-duper head-scratchingly challenging, but all of the solutions make actually logical sense, and I can really appreciate that!
By the way, if you feel discouraged at all by the somewhat short playtime of the first chapter, don’t worry; I can assure you the subsequent two chapters have twice as much playtime each. :)

Great conclusion! The environmental aspect of the story takes center stage and that's not a bad thing but even as you play it you expect someone to step on screen and tell you the importance of recycling.

Me ha encantado la trilogía, muy al estilo Monkey Island, con chistes, buenos gráficos y estupenda música. He disfrutado de cada escenario, cierto es que por separado los juegos no son muy largos pero en conjunto forman una gran aventura gráfica. Además sus beneficios son para una buena causa. Recomiendo comprarlo con alguna rebajilla pero aun así no dejen de comprarlo.
This game has been unplayable for a while, not sure if anyone else has been experiencing this. But there's a major glitch at the home screen, where the cursor is stuck in a tiny box on the far right hand side and I can't even click load game. Until this is fixed, I'll be downvoting. I love the other 2 games though so this has been really disappointing, I've been waiting years to play it lol
I finally had gotten around to finish this trilogy after stumbling across the game years ago in my childhood, it's incredibly rare to find a game with roots in african culture and it pops in it's style and presence that makes it a Gem among point and click adventure games in this new renaissance of the genre.
Lovers of Point and Clicks are gonna fall in love with it just as much as I have, and newcomers can be drawn in by fun characters and puzzles that don't fall into Moon Logic puzzle that plagues a lot of older titles.

I am glad I gave The Journey Down a chance. Although the style and artwork of the characters was a bit jarring- I was hooked by the story and had to know how it all ended. After playing all three- I was not disappointed. The graphics took me back to 2000. A good point-n-click game. (o゜▽゜)o☆
Good amount of content and game play. It's strange leaving a 3 part review as I played all 3 parts in one go. Excellent point and click adventure, definitely worth the time.
A general overview of the trilogy:
Chapter 1 took me 2.5h, Chapter 2 took me 3h more; and Chapter 3 another 3.4h.
In general, I had fun -- the game definitely has a "Grim Fandango" vibe, and there is a "Full Throttle" cameo I enjoyed too! The story has good momentum, and the characters are charming. Great series!
Scores: 79/100 for Chapter 1, 82/100 for Chapter 2, and 84/100 for Chapter 3.
Meh. It's ok. More polished than the previous two, but seriously lacking in the game play department. Way, too too easy. Felt more like a walking clickluator. Yes, I'd recommend it, but only if you've played the other two chapters, and wait it to be discounted.

(Ich spreche über das komplette Spiel, also Chapter 1 - 3) Richtig schönes klassisches Point&Click-Adventure mit toller Story und wunderschön gezeichneten Landschaften und Städten. Das Character-Design fand ich anfangs etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber die Charaktere sind so sympathisch, dass ich mich ganz schnell daran gewöhnt habe. Die Rätsel sind fair, nicht zu schwierig und weitgehend logisch und die Musik sorgt jederzeit für die perfekt passende Atmosphäre. Einziger Kritikpunkt: es hätte gern länger gehen können, denn ich hätte die Handlungsschauplätze, die es - laut Making Of - am Ende nicht ins Spiel geschafft haben, zu gern auch besucht.

A strong finale to this awesome point-and-click "trilogy", with great locations, music, and characters.
TL;DR: The puzzles are unimaginative compared to last time and the characters and jokes are simply getting stale.
Wish I could give it a neutral review. Unfortunately the third part isn't as good as the second one. But if you've played the second game you'll probably want to finish the story and this game concludes the trilogy. The moon logic isn't as strong in this one, which I can appreciate, but it's not very clever either save a few instances. I also loathe one solution to a puzzle. Spoiler reveals said puzzle: [spoiler]You need to touch the bunny multiple times for it's battery to die but there is no hint after the first touch that it would do so. I missed the clue first time around and never got back to it. Had to look up a guide to realize I must've clicked the clue away the first time.[/spoiler] The story does ramp up but the characters and jokes feel very stale already and don't seem to grow at all though I do like how they're bringing more dark/risque themes to the game. I also have a bit to say about the villains of the game but it's a spoiler for the end: [spoiler]I was happy to see both female and male protagonists and villains up until both of the female villains turn coats right at the last minute. Just don't seem to get good female villains in games...[/spoiler]
The third chapter of this story was a let down, it felt like as I went forward in the story it got worse with the voice acting and it felt like the personality of the characters that was established in the first chapter was almost completely gone. Soundtrack was better than in Chapter two though, but still not as great as in Chapter one. Still, I really enjoyed this story and the ending, and I really recommend this game for all.

As a genre fan, I can only recommend the Journey Down series.
This series has everything a good and typical point-and-click adventure must have. There are good and fun puzzles, quirky characters, nice humor and a compelling story.
Thanks everyone at SkyGoblin for this game series and the Linux support. But unfortunately for this last chapter the native Linux version didn't work for me out of the box. Thankfully someone in the Steam community came up with a [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/579760/discussions/0/1680315447975167637/#c2274827383907601345][u]fix[/u][/url] or alternatively the Windows version via Proton seems to work as well.
Played with Manjaro Linux (Kernel 5.12.8, Mesa 21.1.2) on an AMD Ryzen 1700 @ 4GHz, an AMD RX 5700 XT and 16GB RAM.
In a lot of ways I think this is a step down from Chapter Two, but the production values are definitely higher for the cutscenes, they try to give the player a little more agency with moving around the environments and it's a pretty epic conclusion to the trilogy. I recommend playing through the entire trilogy; the first game is kind of terrible but you need it to appreciate the other two which are quite good. As a standalone title you will just be confused about the story.

The finale is overally positive experience although this chapter has a somewhat different vibe from the previous parts. The music style is different (very good, tho) and the story has some holes (really? Open savannah with a high rock wall - i could just fly my plane there instead of traversing the whole land. You say Hungries dwell in the mist? So at least show them in a short scene ripping into a ship so I know that flying in Underland is impossible.) Bad guy's plan was weird, too. The Mayor and her politics was also incomprehensible.
At least the ending was cool, I knew that [spoiler] rock and roll can save the world, [/spoiler] HA!
All in all, a pleasant adventure.
