[h2]Story[/h2]
The game is set in the early 1990s. Your character checks into a fancy hotel, planning to stay for just one night. But when morning comes, something is terribly wrong. The world outside has descended into chaos, cities are filled with monsters and society has begun to collapse.
Because of the outbreak, the hotel is put under quarantine, which means no one is allowed to leave. All the guests are stuck inside. At first the hotel feels like a safe place, but little by little it turns into a nightmare.
[h2]Gameplay[/h2]
The Inn-Sanity is a first-person psychological horror game. It plays like a walking simulator, meaning you don’t have an inventory or traditional gameplay systems. Instead, you explore a hotel, trigger scripted events, and solve puzzles in order to progress the story.
Throughout the game you encounter several NPCs and are given multiple dialogue options when interacting with them. Some of these characters are dangerous and have a Wrath Gauge. Choosing the wrong dialogue option will make them increasingly angry, and if their anger reaches a certain point, they can kill you. Because of this, it’s important to listen carefully to what they say in order to choose the correct response.
Your character also suffers from agnosia, a condition that makes it difficult to recognize faces and clearly hear voices.
[h2]Environment & Scares[/h2]
The game takes place entirely inside a hotel. During the game you explore hotel rooms, corridors, a parking garage, the basement, and several other areas. The layout of the hotel is fairly linear and easy to navigate, and I never felt lost while playing.
Not being able to clearly see faces or hear voices is terrifying in itself. The game also features a few effective jump scares that genuinely caught me off guard. Much of the horror comes from the White Lady, who roams the hotel and occasionally speaks to you. Seeing glimpses of her true form and face at times was genuinely frightening.
There are also a few other monsters in the hotel, but I didn’t find them nearly as scary as the White Lady.
[h2]Visual Design & Sound Design[/h2]
The game’s visual design leans heavily into disturbing imagery. There is blood smeared across floors and walls, as well as mutilated corpses scattered throughout the hotel. The protagonist’s agnosia is represented visually by faces appearing blurred with mosaic patterns, while voices sound heavily muffled.
There is one character whose voice you can hear clearly, and the voice acting for that character was solid. Silence is often used as a tool to build tension, before triggering a loud jump scare. At other times, an ominous soundtrack adds to the atmosphere.
The White Lady’s face is deeply unsettling and memorable. Another creature in the game is blind and sends out a visible shockwave along the floor to indicate the range of its hearing, which is a clever visual mechanic.
[h2]Constructive Criticism[/h2]
I feel that the White Lady was somewhat underused. She was easily the most effective and memorable part of the game, and I would have liked to see more encounters with her later on.
The parking garage section was also a bit too easy. It’s a fairly large area, but the monster there is very easy to avoid, which removes much of the tension.
The game is at its scariest during the first third, but it gradually loses tension and becomes somewhat boring toward the end. The game would also have benefited from being a bit darker, as many areas are too well lit.
[h2]The Verdict[/h2]
The story was interesting enough, partly because of the multiple dialogue choices that can lead to different outcomes and endings. At first, you have no idea what is really going on, and that mystery is what kept me hooked and motivated to uncover the truth.
The gameplay is simple and the puzzles are very easy to solve. I would have liked to see more encounters like the parking garage section, where sneaking and actual gameplay mechanics play a bigger role.
The horror works fairly well overall. In some moments the game builds tension effectively, while in others it falls a bit flat. The White Lady is by far the most memorable monster and the one that creeped me out the most.
The game took about three hours to complete, and the price feels appropriate for that length. Overall, despite its flaws, it’s a horror experience that fans of psychological horror may still find worth checking out.

[i] The Inn-Sanity [/i] toes the line between fetch-quests and narrative driven story-telling. Although the story itself feels a bit derivative at some parts [spoiler](being trapped in single location while the world crumbles around the main characters),[/spoiler] the unique entities the player encounters and the diverse array of characters helps to keep the game fresh with its conflicts, motivations, and overall narrative.
The game also features a protagonist with an uncommon neurological condition called [spoiler] Prosopagnosia [/spoiler], which does help to explain away face details and the lack of voice actors. However, I believe this actually works in elevating the level of isolation and otherworldliness the protagonist and the player feel.
[h2] Areas of Strength [/h2]

Although not awarding winning, the characters themselves are fleshed out, given internal and external motivations, have diverse array of reactions and depth, and have clear arcs over the course of the story. The game boasts a clear beginning, middle, and end that ties up all loose ends by the conclusion. The story also dives into deeper themes of loss and trauma, isolation and loneliness, and friendships and bonds amongst all the choas.
[*] The game has various entities for the player to encounter, including a [spoiler] wraith-like woman, an entity known as the Crawler that relies on sound to locate the player, and a big flesh monster that chases the player in a later sequence. [/spoiler] Although it would've been nice to see more variety, even for a short period, the entities do a good job at keeping the players on their toes and presenting them with different challenges throughout.
[*] [i] The Inn-Sanity [/i] looks and runs quite well. I had no issues running the game, the areas, for the most part, had care taken in their design, and the Hotel truly felt like a hotel, not a strange fusion of reality and alterations to fit gameplay.

Overall, I would recommend [i] The Inn-Sanity [/i] for those who want a survival/psychological horror game with a decent narrative thrown in. Although there are areas to improve, the game itself does boast an interesting narrative, fleshed out characters, unique entities to encounter, and a good couple hours of play time.

A fun and easy horror game, took me about 3 hours to play. I'm sure others could complete in a quicker time frame, but was enjoyable with a nice story!
This game isn’t a masterpiece and it’s definitely not terrible either it’s simply a good game that i had a lot of fun playing it.
i found the story really interesting it kept me playing because i wanted to know what would happen next. Great designs, The atmosphere is spooky, and it has some decent jumpscares.

A very 'pleasant' horror game. The scares are on rails in a good way, the content is enjoyable and intriguing. STRONGLY recommend if you're looking for a 1-2 play session horror game that gives you all of the fixings while not keeping you entirely on end.

Horror themed walking simulator. There are only very few action/qte scenes, puzzles or jump scares and these few ones were ok, nothing too bad or difficult.
It is not a bad game I guess, but I didn't get gripped by the story or the characters, I think both were very shallow.
You only can get all endings when playing through this multiple times, but for that the game was not interesting enough for me and for whatevery reason, the dev decided to not allow players to load old saves or replay chapters.
There were visual glitches everytime I walked around the corner red or white rectangles were seen.
Also what was annoying that the spoken text was typed at slow speed and you could not speed up it appearing, just skip it, which I often chose since the dialogues weren't particularly interesting.
At the end, I consider this a very mediocre game. For horror fans not enough horror, for story fans not enough story. For adventure fans not much to explore.
