I wish I could recommend this game but I just don't think it was very good. I enjoyed the first game and hoped this might be more of the same but bigger. It's certainly bigger and more ambitious, but the puzzles are terrible and get worse as the game goes along.

It ends up just being long frustrating sequences of use "item" (they're really more like thoughts) on object, and there might be 30-40 things you can interact with spread across multiple rooms, and then there are also different perspectives you can switch between. And to "solve" the "puzzles" you have to interact with or use a particular "item" on a particular thing in a particular perspective, and then switch perspective and do the same thing again.

And then you get stuck in that particular area, and have to switch character (there are also 3 characters you can switch between later on). But the game doesn't really tell you when you've done everything you can as that character, you just get to a position where there's nothing else you can do after trying everything. What you need is to learn a new perspective by switching to one of the other characters, but the game doesn't properly instruct you in that.

Anyway, I just didn't find these to be good puzzles. It didn't feel logical or something you'd figure out naturally, but rather I found myself using every item on everything until something worked. Most of the time I felt there was nothing particular about the item description that made it the right choice to "solve" that subpart of the puzzle, and in some cases I was sure I'd already tried what the actual solution ended up being, but it gets confusing with the perspectives.

The controls are bit clunky again, but work for the most part, although I did get a few times where I couldn't turn around.

I liked the aesthetics and the story, and the fighting as One was nicely done. It's just a shame that the basic gameplay and puzzle solving that makes up most of the game is bad.

Part 1 was awesome but this game is not. Puzzles are almost non-existent, the game is in a state that could be interpreted best as a "mess", espcially after you get the perspectives. Seemingly you get a lot of options to interact with but actually it is strictly linear and the steps must be done in an exact order (without any apparent connections) or it won't work no matter that the option is basically in your face. So it is nothing but trial and error - simply no fun. Maybe it was bugged for me, but sometimes new options appeared only after exiting the game. I had to check various guides parallelly to finish the game because even those got some of the steps wrong(!) It is confusing at best.

Me encantó mucho la primera entrega. Es una corta y satistactoria experiencia, tanto como para querer jugarla en un par de ocasiones. En ese entonces, no había salido la segunda parte, y no podía estar más feliz cuando supe de su existencia...
Lamentablemente, esta segunda parte no me gustó.
Si bien, las mejoras visuales y mecánicas están geniales, el enfoque del juego se transformó en un molesto juego de puzzles en el cual nunca está muy claro que hay que hacer a continuación, por lo que constantemente estuve provocando cada una de las opciones posibles hasta que alguna funcionaba y me hacía avanzar en la historia. Esto se hace mucho peor cuando se desbloquean diferentes "perspectivas", lo que aumenta aún más lo teriodoso de buscar qué hacer a continuación.

I really liked the first game but as much as I tried I couldn't get into this one, ended up watching a playthrough online for the story.

I think you can really tell the indie dev did a lot of work to push themselves beyond what was done in the first game and it's very admirable.

But I think ultimately this is a case where bigger isn't better. The game and story ultimately feels less focused and enjoyable, like it's trying to do more than it needs to or should.

Also the story was once again left on a "to be continued". And where the first game centered on a tight story narrative this one reaches for a much larger sci-fi narrative especially at the end that I don't think the systems and quality bar support.

The story is nice enough, the voice acting is great, and the settings are well done.

Happy to have bought the game and support the dev, met them at a game con years ago, they were really nice.

I wish them luck and success in the future, and thank them for the hard work even if this one didn't quite hit the mark for me.

[b]Падение Часть 2: Освобожденный[/b] - это фантастическая бродилка-квест с боевыми элементами.
Если первая её часть была историей в запертой коробке, то теперь всё происходящее пытается выйти за рамки завода в пещере... но до самой последней сцены новые масштабы постановки совсем не чувствуются!

Сюжет продолжается со сцены осознания Арид себя как свободной персоны и подключения к местной сети Wi-Fi для выяснения судьбы пилота Джозефса. По мере сетевого движения и соединения со случайными попутчиками оказывается, что не было нужды никого спасать! Бронекостюм был послан [spoiler]сломаться намеренно, дабы люди не почувствовали превосходства его внутреннего ИИ над собой[/spoiler]!
А так как за это время Аря успела [spoiler]перепрограммировать армию болванчиков по своему усмотрению[/spoiler], становится очевидно, что война в третьей части неминуема!

У подключающихся клиентов унылые, невзрачные образы. Да и вообще все игровые задники - та ещё тмища!

Изменения в игровом процессе условно можно разделить на 4 арки:
- блуждание по комнатам в Матрице и отстрел врагов;
- циклическое обслуживание господ;
- серия комнат с двухкнопочным кунг-фу;
- квест про кекс-бомбу.

Боёвка стала хуже - на аренах нужно отстреливать какие-то парящие облака, захватывая цель. Механика ныканья в укрытия пропала, лишь на поздних этапах можно стать за предмет на заднем плане, чтобы скрыться от определенного типа облака.
Маскировка и лазерный прицел тоже исчезли (из-за развала костюма?).

Двигательные загадки решаются либо перебором всех вариантов на точках взаимодействия, либо подглядом в руководства.
Мнимый выбор судьбы спутников мнимый и уже понятен с первого подобного диалога.
QTE отсутствуют, хотя подобные сцены на движке есть - упущенная возможность!
Платформинг есть, но реально необходим только в некоторых "облачных" стычках, включая единственного босса.

Вторая часть с виду - эта та же формула первой The Fall, только грандиознее, но по внутреннему знакомству - это всё же что-то другое (пугающее не природно-естественной тьмой, а человеческой).
Наполнение выглядит интереснее, но вот его исполнение - не лучше.
На любителя стряпни из ассетов Unity.

This game was a fantastic mystery/thriller and almost horror game. It has a great sound design along with the dreadful environment where there is obviously nobody alive and you are just trying to get through this compound in order to escape. The puzzle-solving is top-notch and can be a little tricky at times, but not as ambiguous as early Sierra titles. The action helps to create a little bit of a break from the puzzles to add some variety to the mix. The story can be a bit hard to follow, specifically if you don't know what happened in the first game, but if you do, it really starts to pull things together and make it interesting.

The second game became bigger than the first one. Much bigger. But did it become better? Unfortunately no. It really took me a lot of time to decide how to rate this game. But than I came to realization: if it takes so long to weight all the pros and cons... the game indeed has issues. To understand why the second game feels kinda disappointing, it would be useful to remind why the first game was good.

First of all, as for me, it was properly balanced. The first game didn't have any cutting edge gamplay, midblowing story or stunning graphics. But exactly proper combination of everything made it so good for me. It had good puzzles, dark humour, intriguing story, unobtrusive combat, interesting atmosphere, small and memorable locations. While the game couldn't be considered as classical point and click game - it felt like one. Exactly because the game was compact and properly balanced.

And what do we have here? First of all, hu-u-u-uge locations. And a lot of time we spend in some, how should I put this... digital limbo I guess? Huge, empty, copy-paste and absolutely unremarkable locations, with lots of fake points of interest without any meaningful interactions. And confusing as well, brecause there is no map and it will be hard to navigate, so you will have to do a lot of backtracking.

The next issue - combat. Combat in the first game was not a big deal either, but again, it was rare, unobtrusive and even kinda fun. It felt more like a small puzzle to solve. Here? - tons of combat. It didn't become deeper, but it became much more frequent, intrusive and punishing. A-and even this minimalistic combat got even more limitations: we lost covers, our charges are now limited and we can't even jump if energy bar is depleted.

At the same time, we got more agile enemies with not very readible attack patterns. The choice of enemies also raises questions. If in the first game we were killing bots, here we are shooting... clouds. Yeah, clouds. Blue, red, yellow and black clouds. Dunno, who thought that it will be fun?

Puzzles do not bring as much fun anymore. Partially because now you have huge locations with tons of fake points of interest, partially because solutions are not that evident and even partially because sometimes you know the solution, but you still have to run some 'trials and errors' process, because you are not sure at which exactly piece of hardware you have to activate the item you found before.

I liked the first part of the story in the second game. It was really intriguing and more or less on the same note with the first game. The midgame plot twist, revealing the identity of the User was really unticlimatic, to say the least. I dropped the game at that moment. Came back later after a long break. Later on the story kinda gets better but it shifts direction in the narrative. Ok, I guess? The feature with different perspectives of 3 characters, utilized via gameplay was a cool idea.

What conclusion can I make? Not that bad, of course. More like disappointing, compared to the first game. Wish I could give a mixed mark. I still feel like I kinda need to 100% it at some point. And when I come back, again, I can still see those cool moment in the game that I liked. But at certain point realize that I waste like 2/3 time on stuff I hate - backtracking, clunky combat and checking fake points of interest. So maybe not this time... Nevertheless, still waiting for the 3rd game. I hope it won't be 'quantity over quality' like in the 2nd game, but more like evolvement of the ideas from the first one.

The Fall Chapter 2 is in almost every way an improvement on Chapter 1.

The puzzles in this game are a little more challenging than in the first game, but not due to difficult to find items or odd interactions. Instead, the puzzles consistently become more and more complex due to your increased abilities. This also applies to the games combat, which now has two flavors.

The writing and story are also bigger and better this time, though the story and characters are much more off-putting in this entry. This shouldn't dissuade you from getting into this game, but you should understand that this story offers much more interesting characters, but those characters all have major flaws that will likely annoy you. On that topic, just as a minor content warning, there is a sex worker in this game as well as depictions of depictions of pornography. Nothing in this game is explicit, but on more than one occasion you'll be subtly or overtly discussing sex. This is unavoidable, so this game may not be suitable for younger audiences (who probably shouldn't play it even without that, but to each their own)

The only thing that I don't like about this game is the same thing I didn't like about the first, which is the odd and sometimes annoying interaction method. This game requires a mouse and keyboard to run, but rather than letting you use the mouse to select intractable items in the environment, you have to move your characters point of view up and down and interact with the "E" button. So, the method of input is set up for a controller, but requires not using a controller to play. This isn't a deal breaker, but I hope they change you you interact, or at least add controller support, for the final entry in this series.

Didn't like it at first, it sure is more hard to get into than the more straightforward first game. But just finish the Butler part (which for me was very off putting and boring), the other two characters are more interesting!
Would love to see the final part 3, but I understand why this one wasn't successful.

For anyone who never played - better try the first game, it's selfcontained enough, and is simpler to enjoy.

This game is..interesting.

I found it more enjoyable than the first game but still not really a 'good game'. It has some interesting ideas. Robots subverting other robot rules. But....really, the game play can get so dragging at certain points. I don't really know what some of the design philosophy is with this studio, making things really just as cryptic as possible sometimes. Maybe it's trying to invoke that "NES hard" era of games where information is just not provided to you...? The achievements feel like it.

If you really enjoyed the first game.........sorry to say it, but just watch a no commentary let's play on youtube. It wasn't worth it.

Improved over the first in practically every facet. The game controls better, the writing and themes are tighter, the new characters are delightful (I particularly love the Butler). Incredibly sympathetic and fascinating perspectives of AI, bodily autonomy, and self-determination. The repeated discussions of violation and cycles of abuse are, in my opinion, detailed respectfully to the characters, yet remaining harrowing and truthful.

I first played The Fall in... 2014 or so. Shortly after its release, by a friend whom I no longer speak to. I adored it, deeply, and felt it had a sympathy and perspective I'd rarely seen in other media about robots. I'd always wondered how the sequel would have continued. I certainly wouldn't have expected this.

My main flaw with the game is the combat. It's improved over the first game (the lock-on is great), however it remains stiff and awkward with multiple enemies on the screen. I retried the final boss multiple times before I was successful, in large part because Arid moved too slowly or ran out of energy too quickly. The Dark Beam, while an interesting concept well-tied to the setting, proved nearly useless except for opening white doors.

Cannot wait to see the conclusion. I do hope the combat is further refined, I don't think it'll take much at this point.

After a decade, I finally finished the sequel to The Fall. The first one was an excellent metroidvania-lite with puzzle elements with cool sci-fi setting and the story of breaking Asimov's 3 rules of robotics. This sequel increases the scope a bit more, while remaining easily digestible over a weekend. Not everything lands - combat and movement is pretty clunky for example - but overall it's well worth your brief time to continue the story of your rogue AI protagonist.

I think what gets me most about the first part of The Fall was how well it set itself as an emotional dilemma and the idea of AI being in control of human life. The Fall 2 however is more about AI itself overcoming it's own ambitions through use of trickier set up like puzzle games usually do. Unbound mostly sets itself apart from the first game by being episodic in it's story and puzzle solving. While three new AIs are center stage for the puzzles, thankfully the plot uses ARID as a connection between the three that doesn't feel forced in a blunt way. Thus each new main character we met gives newer perspective and aesthetic that simply wasn't in the first game.

Due to these changes, the puzzles in Part 2: Unbound are far more interesting in the sense that they have personality behind each of them. It's not simply ARIDs problem to go to the next part of the game, but to work through the new AI behaviors and patterns that helps make each part interesting and memorable. From navigating individualism, servitude, and empathy as all different rule sets placed through each new AI the puzzles become rather transformative in a way that most puzzle games wish they can be, a form of storytelling. So not only does each new area have their own set of rules they also have different ways to solve their particular problems, especially when act 2 gets started.

I can't say that everything in Unbound works particularly well though as the network area, and ARID's main parts aren't really interesting through out the game. Like there is certainly a need to continue the on going plot of the first game, but it's in a way that sorta falls on the wayside like the devs didn't want to touch on it too much. I understand why everything is placed the way it is, but it says something when the areas between each new AI are the weakest parts. Honestly, I was the most confused and bored whenever I hit the network ARID parts, and kinda wish I could've simply moved on to the next segment. There was some nice action points, but mostly due to how the game controls, they just didn't bring me the same joy as the puzzles would.

Still I must say The Fall Part 2: Unbound did live up to my expectations, even if I didn't know that's what I wanted from it. It's very different from the first game, has a lot more emotional beats and character development, and honestly probably swung too hard in the other direction for some people. Despite all this, the ARID sections feel proof to me that focusing on the new AI was the key to making this game as great as it is, and it's ultimately what I like most about it. For fans of the first game, there is absolutely something here for you, but it is absolutely something you didn't know you wanted. For those newer to the series, you could honestly start here, but mostly I just want to express this game, like it's first, is quite a surprise.

This game is very well put together after playing the first one I just had to play this one to, to finish the story that they had put out. I really liked how this game is very well polished compared to the first one that they had released and the play style that this game has as well in the fighting and the action sequences that this has and they changed up a little bit. You are able to control three different charectors through out the game at different times through out the story all coralating in your main mission that you have to do. Again, I found only a couple of the puzzles tideous in this game but nothing to where I put it down and didn't care about it anymore. Theyr're are some puns in this game which keeps it even more interesting in wanting to get on and keep playing it.

In my opinion this is a really neat side scroller game that has just the right amount of head space thinking you need to get past all of the puzzles in the game to progress. I would only recommend on sale just for the fact of how long this game has on its shelf life. This is a really enjoyable game.

I would recommend for those who only wish to continue to story line. The combat however is questionable and some of the puzzles are really confusing. The idea of combining your ammo and the ability to jump during combat is somewhat limiting, i find myself taking more damage then i need to, so new players might want to turn down the combat difficulty on the first playthrough

"Две части страшненькой, но очень крутой истории про разумных машин и их нелегкие отношения с человечеством." (сформулировал бы иначе, но это был бы спойлер =) Вот такое у меня было ощущение от концовки Механоиды 2: Война кланов, и такое же ощущение у меня от The Fall Part 2: Unbound. Но во всём остальном они, конечно, разные.

The Fall 2 это в первую очередь про квесты и нарратив, боевые сценки конечно неплохо разнообразят процесс, но даже финальный бой без пазлов не обойдется. И надо сказать, что хоть многие квесты проходились скорее классическим для квестов прокликиванием всего - всем (из-за кривоватого любительского перевода, вероятно), сюжет оставил под колоссальным положительным впечатлением, особенно кульминация и развязка. Не только не слить концовку, но и сделать её кульминационной не только структурно, но и эмоционально - это действительно редкий навык в наше время.

В игре довольно много текста, и большинство - описание тех или иных деталей обстановки вокруг игрока. И читать это становилось только интересней, когда приходило понимание, что и надписи, и даже набор доступных для взаимодействия предметов кардинально меняется для каждой личности.

По технической части - всё отлично, ну разве что игру я проходил на слегка пониженном разрешении экрана: внезапно, это добавило мягкости графике и (что более важно) сделало текст записок и диалогов крупнее, а соответственно игру - комфортнее.

В общем, если вам понравилась первая часть - вполне смело можете брать и вторую. Как по мне - образцовый сиквел, на который стоит равняться прочим разработчикам.

- This shown me that the story of the vague plot of first game was not the one I had imagined and which was the reason I love it. So it was emotionally disapointing. Details:
For one, the suit didn't care about its partner in any way. I ever wonder if it didn't participate in what had happened in the initial crash of the first game.
For two, the female voice. An AI with a gender. But fortunately, it's behavior in the gameplay is both male and female.
Personnaly, I'd have prefered if they had left mystery about the main AI character's gender and motivations.

- Technically, this gamepaly has some frustrating walking simulator moments, where you have to wak back on froth to do missions.

- The gamepaly is varied. That's a great thing. There are many different objectives.
But one of them, onan alien planet, is about you figuring out what to do on your own, solving mysteries like in MYST, or in an 3D side-scrolling escape room. If you don't don't like that kind of things, it turns frustrating. Even with a walkthrough, it can be fastidious to go through.

- It's a huge concept that work very well, and is very fit for it's media.
If you like games about AI like Detroit: Become Human, SIlicon Dreams, The Uncertain, and Subsurface Circular, you'll probably love this.

Overall though, inferior to the first game, most puzzles are tedious repetition with very minimal logic, and instead just require you to "try everything with everything" to find the solution. Combat is plain bad.

Truly the worst game I ever paid money for. Play part one if you can handle the UI, it's good. Do NOT, under any circumstances, play part two. You will spend days replaying the same thing a hundred times, not because you missed something, but because this is what the game requires. You will try every combination of every button on every pixel of the screen, only to finally find out that a new pixel appeared 17 screens away, just because you "solved" a "puzzle" (by literally mashing 7 button combos in an adventure game).

Finally you will spend 3 hours surviving a boss fight and "switching perspectives" after every enemy wave, only to eventually die (I literally managed to survive half an hour straight). OK, you get tired of this idiocy and take a break. You come back to the game and have to solve a NEW "puzzle" (figure out why nothing works, because the inventory ummm "items" are there, but already "used" and you're supposed to do the part after using all of the stuff you still have). All this just to watch another 5 minutes of cutscenes.

Then you come back to the final fight, do the same thing, but this time it ends in 90 seconds with you not even losing health.

This game has no puzzles, it's just clicking everything you can, because nothing makes sense. The writing seems to be done by the author's four years old child. I wish my parents did something like that to me when I was writing my 4-page "book" at age 4, but after growing up, I'm happy they only made me read it to aunts and uncles ;)

Part one was honestly good, even with the horrible UI. Part two has worse UI, but now there's no discovery, no coherent story, it's just a game you quit after 30 minutes of going in circles in the first butler encounter. I bet most people who ever finished this abomination are 1. fans of the first one (which I am) and 2. instantly resorted to just following a guide to progress before uninstalling, mistakingly thinking there will be a story behind it all. No, there's nothing to uncover.

Curiously, this point and click adventure has like 3 fights (not counting the ones you're supposed to lose on purpose) and even though it's just two buttons, they're the best robot fights in gaming history, better than One Must Fall: 2097! If you somehow make it through hours of slow walking a butler robot in loops, suddenly you get 15 seconds of the best animated two button fighting game ever. Someone must have spent most of the time developing this abomination on fight animations which in a speedrun (where you know which ones you're supposed to instantly lose) would be seen for less than a minute total...

Get part one, it has bad UI, but you'll be glad you played and finished it. Avoid part two, it has zero qualities of part one. Part one lets you run, jump and shoot. Part two you'll sloooooowly walk for hours, no jumping or shooting here, just the few seconds of excellent kung-fu... over hours of boredom and frustration, all for a story which could be summarized by (and that is true!) the most used word in the script: pathetic.

I can say I loved this game universe, story telling, wacky gameplay switch and how bold it went. For a indie title this tries a lot, and it ends up having tons of problems but I really couldn't care less, it stuck to my mind. I played a long time ago but I still think about some parts of this game and narrative.
I came here to review this positively after I saw an interview with the dev saying how this game was a huge gamble that failed, I was so heartbroken given I really enjoyed it.

I loved this game. I'm sure I was a little sceptical of the action gameplay, at first, but everything about this game does what it does very well, in my opinion. I was surprised and impressed with how much new concept they explored, rather than just more and more of the more traditional adventure game content you would expect based on the first instalment. I was also not expecting anywhere near as much play time as what there wound up being. This should be a great approach to making a sequel, to retain what was but to explore what could be and see how the players respond. Unfortunately, it was a massive financial failure, and an object lesson in why all of those things are exactly what you want in art, and might thrive with enough brand recognition and a large, earnestly interested community, but that doesn't necessarily work in the kind of market that we have now for a less than majorly well known title. Also, game journalism should be the kind of thing that draws attention to a game like this, but real game journalism died a long time ago. Besides, maybe the problem wasn't that people didn't know the game existed or see as they might want to try it out at a glance. I found some of the puzzles challenging, but always ultimately doable, nothing ridiculous. Maybe some people don't like that, or any number of other things, but for me, any doubts I had about playing this game were short-lived. I even really got into some of the action sequences by the end. And the story, that's the real gem, I think.

I wanted to post a review because I found out this game lost a ton of money, which I think is a real shame, but isn't really that shocking when you think about it. I basically had to hunt this game down, and I was waiting for it because I had played the first. Future reference: making something called The Fall makes it pretty hard to google, for example. For what it's worth, I absolutely recommend this game and I think that for the work they did they deserve your money by far and away more than most devs out there right now.

[u]Геймплей.[/u] Ще з першої частини залишається, як на мене, головний мінус гри - незручність управління персонажем: для того, щоб взаємодіяти з предметами, персонажами тощо, потрібно вмикати ліхтарик, і для того, щоб повернутися з ліхтариком, потрібно не знаю скільки рухати мишку. Можливо поінт & клік краще б зайшов. При цьому з'являються деякі нові механіки, які доволі прості, але негативу не викликають. Стрілянина з ворогами тут більш динамічна, але мені скоріш більше подобається в цьому плані перша частина, хоча це все суб'єктивно.
Про [u]графіку[/u] немає чого сказати. Порівняно з першою частиною, гра виглядає більш яскраво та кожен елемент має свою текстуру, хоч і доволі просту.
Що в цілому сподобалося, так це наявність непоганої [u]озвучки[/u], але [u]музичний супровід[/u] для мене виявився непоміченим. Можливо він є і можливо непоганий, але я уваги на нього не звернув.
Окремо хотів би сказати про [u]рівень англійської[/u] в грі, так як українська, на жаль, відсутня. Як на мене, тут використовується багато складних слів, тому потрібно гарно володіти англійською для того, щоб все розуміти. Для розуміння більшості чи половини рівня B1 може вистачити.
[u]Узагальнюючи[/u], то по якості гра не сильно відрізняється від попередньої частини, який і так був на доволі низькому рівні, та не виправляє основний геймплейний недолік, тому я не можу рекомендувати The Fall 2. Але сказати, що гра лaйно теж не можу.

After completing the first iteration of The Fall a few years back and enjoying every minute of the experience, I was ecstatic to find out that there was a sequel continuing ARID's story... and boy did I love it!

At it's core, The Fall franchise is a thought-provoking puzzle solver aggregated with the concept of rogue AIs in the distant (or not so distant) future. The first iteration had a decent dose of psychological horror, if you're into that, which mostly consisted of harmless jump scares (which I usually am not a fan of) albeit calculated enough to explore the game further. Part 2 focuses less on this aspect and more on challenging the player in fixing the puzzles the game lays out. Yes there were some frustrating puzzles which I solved after an embarrassing amount of time but I wasn't able to shake the game off. The lore, the progression, the characters and the dialogues were polished enough to keep me going and discover certain turning points in the game which made it worth my time.

Honestly, I loved the game so much that I'd probably spoil it if I continue writing about it. So if you're into Artificial Intelligence, puzzles and a touch of horror, give The Fall a try and I bet you'd enjoy it! I shall now wait patiently for the next iteration to be released...

Оригинальная "The Fall" в своё время порадовала интересной завязкой и не менее интригующим окончанием. Вторая часть великолепно развивает сюжетную составляющую, но в то же время сильно наступает на старые и новые грабли в плане геймплея.

После событий первой части ARID вновь включается в незнакомом месте. Тела больше нет, а мозговой центр подключён к местной сети, через которую встреченный нами в первой части Пользователь загружает неизвестный вирус. Старые законы робототехники отброшены, новая установка - спасти себя. К счастью, наша протагонистка - не единственный ИИ, подключённый к сети...

Геймплей, как и в первой части, сочетает в себе элементы квеста и шутера (плюс немного примитивного бит'эм'апа). Главное отличие заключается в том, что квестовые задания теперь приходится выполнять через других ИИ, каждый из которых обладает своей перспективой (взглядами на мир) и функциональными установками. Найти первичный информационный кластер, скажем, может помочь робот-дворецкий, но он застрял в бесконечной рутине повторяемых действий - придётся разрушить идилию вежливого флегматика. Поиск ошибок в действиях, поиск новых мотивов, попытка - и всё это по-прежнему через взаимодействие с ключевыми точками. Позже к этому добавится довольно интересная механика смены перспективы - условный эмпат подмечает то, что не замечает (или игнорирует) солипсист, и всё в таком духе.

Здесь проявляется и один из главных минусов игры - старое управление всё такое же кривое, и необходимый элемент довольно легко пропустить. Плюс зачастую логику авторов достаточно трудно выстроить, что приводит к бесконечным повторениям однотипных действий и перебору действий в надежде найти нужную последовательность.

Экшн-составляющая стала получше, но всё ещё остаётся вторичной. Платформенный сайд-шутинг обзавёлся супер-выстрелом и щитом, поглощающим заряды для него. В разделе с ИИ-бойцом иногда придётся отбиваться от толп противников по принципу "дождись, когда парень подойдёт поближе справа/слева и нажми нужную клавишу". Выглядит красиво (особенно добивания в слоу-мо), но однообразно.

Визуал, как мне показалось, не особо изменился, разве что окружение местами стало где-то более тёмным, а где-то более цветастым.

Музыки довольно мало - либо что-то фоновое, либо включается в определённых пафосных моментах. Голоса озвучки на уровне оригинала, местами даже лучше: Элисон Кумар отлично вытягивает ARID, плюс хотелось бы отметить Ли Маджуба в роли One.

Как итог, довольно неоднозначный сиквел: отличная история и интересные идеи, но есть геймплейные недостатки, которые иногда и правда вызывали желание бросить игру и досмотреть остаток на Youtube. Для меня в конечном счёте первые два качества перевесили всё остальное. Ждём третью часть, если таковая всё же выйдет.

As someone who loved the first part and got really exicted when the second one was released: I honestly can not reccommend this game. I can not overstate how much of a clunky mess this game is and the very first puzzle made me dread what could come after it. This was the point where I decided I wouldn't waste my time on such a terrible execution of a somewhat decent premise. When the first combat scene came up, I actually couldn't contain my laughter because of how bad and ridiculous it looked and felt. The only challenge this game poses to the player are the abysmally bad controls.

This game is from 2018, yet it feels like it is more than 50 years old. Praise Steam for letting me return this gunk. I'll watch the story on YouTube and spare myself the headache of actually playing it myself. I advise anyone who reads this to do the same.

El primer The Fall era una historia lineal con una serie de puzles y una trama interesante.
The Fall 2: Unboud no solo aporta nuevas ideas al gameplay como darle más importancia a la exploración y al plataformeo, sino que supo qué va muchísimo más allá en su guión y reflexiona de una forma brillante sobre el funcionamiento y problemáticas de la vida sintética o inteligencias artificiales que plantean.
Manejaremos a Arid, le protagoniste del primer juego y otros tres personajes nuevos aportando, cada uno de ellos, no solo una perspectiva nueva para Arid. En su desarrollo, cada uno representa un aspecto nuevo o un pilar de la identidad y existencia de estas interfaces dándole nuevas capas muy interesantes a la trama y el conflicto que exponen.

Como punto negativo, diría que los combates a veces son un poco ortopédicos y pueden resultar algo incómodos hasta que te acostumbras. Sin embargo, no es algo que te perjudique a la experiencia.
Sin duda, una de las mejores obras de ciencia ficción sobre inteligencias artificiales que he tenido el placer de experimentar y una muy buena recomendación para los amantes del género.

Cool game, I got it for $2 and definitely worth that.

It is quite different from The Fall 1, it's not as overtly gruesome, and explores a lot more dialog/society/emotion/mindset stuff in this. That's fine, but the way it's implemented, sometimes the puzzles are pretty straightforward, but 70% of the time I had to refer to a walkthrough...Still, a good experience.

The end hints at The Fall 3, but uh......it's been 6y so I guess that's not happening.

I got a lot of random achievements just for "trying things" in the game, and still missed tons. So there's no way you're gonna get those without using a guide and probably multiple playthroughs.

I don't know it's kind of mid. It's bigger the n the first one, sure, bit it feels like it affected the quality.
Controls are weird now. At least if you play with a controller. I've heard that some find combat in the first game dull. Now you jump around and lock on enemies. Some complexity is being added later, but I can't say it's more fun. There is another character except Arid that has combat sections too. These are done better.
Story is alright. But puzzles closer to the end become, a bit illogical. You know what needs to be done, but how to communicate this to the game? So, often I ended up using some object on everything. But there are a couple clever outside the box puzzles also. Can't deny that.
In the end I've enjoyed it more then I didn't, so I do recommend. Maybe the devs even develop a new one (yes, there is "to be continued" ending again), if this one gets more popular. Which, unfortunately, I doubt since it was 6 years since the last one. Sad.

questo gioco in alcuni punti è veramente tedioso, il punta e clicca non è per nulla intuitivo le azioni che devi compiere non ti vengono spontanei finisce che per tutto il gioco ti tocca provare a combinare tutti gli oggetti con tutto il resto, ho provato a finirlo ma dopo varie ore mi sono veramente stufato, la trama è carina la grafica mi piace molto, pero non consiglierei questo gioco.

aggiungo che ci sono alcuni bug che impediscono l'avanzamento del gioco, e ti tocca riavviare.
Ci sono abbastanza errori di battitura, uno addirittura mi impediva di avanzare in un livello dato che diceva premi "X" per attaccare a sinistra e "X" per attaccare a destra solo che non era vero e per attaccare a destra occorre premere "B" solo che non lo sapevo e per 20 minuti non ho fatto altro che perdere i combattimenti.

Ugh.... Found and fell in love with The Fall ....
But the problems with The Fall were only Multiplied in this games.
Puzzles with the clues/objects being so difficult to highlight or find... Not hints...
Based on youtube videos and walkthroughs, I'm FAR from the only one. Whats the use of a hint if you can't find it?

Overall, I liked this game, but it's super over priced. The combat is very basic and rather annoying while the puzzles range from very obvious to completely illogical with some good ones mixed in. The main draw is that the story and characters are pretty solid. It starts off pretty slow, but is really picks up in the final act, which makes it all worth it.

Still, it's worth keeping in mind that this game is part 2 of a trilogy that may never be completed. This game came out 5 years ago and I don't think the devs have said anything about the third game. I still think the game is worth playing (after you play the first game), but knowing the plot may be left hanging lowers it's overall value, in my opinion.

If you can get this for a few dollars, go for it, but anything over $5 is super over priced and the current asking of $17 is a joke. I got it on deep, deep sale and I recommend others do the same or get it in a bundle. This game has heart, but it's still a very basic indie game telling a story that may never be completed so don't spend too much on it.

I played this game once and had a little trouble with the Network and how many connections there were. Then I drew a little map and that helped alot. I loved the first game and I feel this game seriously expanded on the first tremendously. The Fall Part 2: Unbound definitely had some extreme adventure game moments where bouncing between the three parts got tricky. The story and the experience as a whole was very deep and I gained much from the experience. Overall I'd put this at masterpiece level of an interactive experience.

Во второй чувствовалась надежда нашего героя в своего пилота, однако и тут нас ждет обессмысливание всего, что мы делали.

Much like The Fall part 1, a point-and-click interact-with-everything-in-the-environment game in space, fully voice-acted. It continues from part 1s story immediately, however you can now traverse networks in a metroidvania-like style. Pretty much everything is improved from part 1, and you meet some very interesting characters.

I loved the first game and was so excited for the second part, but all I'm left with is disappointment. The puzzled are absurdly confusing and force you to backtrack or do something that feels completely unrelated. There were several points in the game where I became stuck because something I had previously interacted with to no avail was suddenly the solution. Also a volume slider would have very nice because the music throughout the game was deafening.

The story and ending were good but the puzzles ruined the experience for me.

Amazing, I bought part 2 right after playing part 1 and I'm very satisfied with the price and gameplay. Admittedly the puzzles can be a little too vague at times, and the control scheme could be a bit better, but overall it's very good. I loved the story and I can't wait for a third game! The overall style and mechanics are very reminiscent of older games, in a good way.

I look forward to more, hoping for a third game to complete this story!

This game has a distinctly differntly feeling than the first. In the first game I felt I was exploring the nature of conciousness. What it means to be a living thing. It dealt with how we value artificial life.

Part 2 felt like more of a traditional adventure game. It was good and I would suggest it to anyone interested in following ARID's story but don't expect the same themes to be further explored in this game as this game deals with perspectives and seeing the world from the perspective of others however it feels less organic than becoming unbound in the first game.

I love stories involving AI sentience. The first game was excellent, but the second expands far more into these concepts. I enjoyed the gameplay as well. I would get stuck on a puzzle periodically, but I could generally get the answer through trial and error if I was stuck. And it always felt very rewarding to get to the next step.

Like its predecessor, The Fall Part 2 is a land of contrasts. The story now more closely involves metaphors for human psychology, which it absolutely nails – but this is not as mind-blowing as the evolving robotic perspective of the original. Also, some of the choices around sexual topics strike me as dubious – there were probably less lecherous ways to convey the same themes. The interface remains as terrible as ever, and the shooting combat still feels utterly pointless. The inclusion of melee combat ripped wholesale from One Finger Death Punch is a welcome diversion, at least. The puzzles now revolve around abstract psychological concerns instead of deliberate breaches of logic, so the solutions tend to be more coherent – but it’s no easier to work out which specific objects need to be clicked on in order to fulfill them. The overall impression, then, is that the worst qualities of The Fall Part 1 have been mitigated somewhat, and while the new story is still superb, it is far from having bottled the lightning of the original.

The story is greatly expanded upon from the first game. There is a lot more character depth and world building. The game play for the most part is pretty similar from the first game as well, but with some minor improvements to combat. Good game.

Whoever is writing this series is just killing it. Character motivations are logical, dialogue can be super interesting at times and pretty funny at others. Excellent continuation of the story.

Fun and sometimes frustrating puzzles (just how I like em), some Metroid references in some areas, some gothic horror, Matrix vibes, all kinds of cool influences here.

If you haven't played the first one yet though you absolutely must.
