Crashed twice in a row on the same boss when loading into it the 4th boss

Not my genre so most likely won't continue my playthrough.
With that said however if you do like puzzle/precision platformers ABSOLUTELY grab this game because the gameplay is undeniably smooth and i adored the art which is also what sold me on the game in the first place.

Tamashii is a simple run and jump puzzle platformer (mostly). I don't want to give too much away, but there is some surprising genre-swapping included in this game. The game has a very unusual and, at times, somewhat disturbing aesthetic and atmosphere. Those sensitive to ambiguously irreverent religious imagery might want to avoid this title.
The puzzles are the meat and potatoes of this game. They're challenging without being infuriatingly difficult. A few are real headscratchers, but you'll likely figure them out with experimentation. The only one I really struggled with involved a puzzle element hidden offscreen requiring an audio cue to complete. But the game is more than just puzzles. There are fast action platforming sections and escape sequences which are all about fast reflexes and being able to determine the correct path in a fraction of a second. Some of these include some light puzzle elements which, though simple, can be difficult to figure out when you have the pressure of imminent danger forcing you to act quickly and depriving you of the leisure of calmly deliberating.
The story isn't really that deep, though it is somewhat reminiscent of the dark world one might expect in the Shin Megami Tensei universe. It is enough, at least, to add to the atmosphere of the game and give it a flavor that makes it stand out.
The game is relatively short. I finished it in about 3 hours on my first play through without using any kind of guides to help with the puzzles. So it is a nice bite-sized game for an afternoon or a single livestream. At $4.99, I think the game length is reasonable.
My only complaint about the game is that there are a few sections where the game throws you into a situation without any explanation of new controls or game mechanics. There is a very minimalistic tutorial near the beginning of the game. Then that's it. You have to figure out everything else on your own. I for one don't like a game that holds my hand the entire time and treats me like a toddler. But it is kind of annoying when things most people expect to be explained aren't. I suppose the only positive way to look at it is that it may add to the immersion of the experience. The character is thrown into new situations without explanation; therefore the player is forced to do the same. So if you like that kind of game design -- great. But more casual players might not appreciate it.
Overall, I'd give this game a good recommendation. Maybe somewhere in the ballpark of a decent 7/10.

It's unsettling, it has tricky puzzles, it got tight platforming and it's cheap.

История про то, как батя Пирамидоголовый посылает своего сынишку мелкого Чорта чистить их дом. В качестве вилки дает двойной прыжок и возможность ставить до трех неподвижных "двойников" одновременно. В основном этими нехитрыми средствами предстоит решать головоломки с различными переключателями. Есть, однако, и экшоновые моменты с преодолением полос препятствий и убеганием от местных гигамонстров. Эти секции немного напоминают Super Meat Boy, только довольно неспешный.
Про выдающийся визуал и так понятно по скриншотам. Поэтому напоследок хотелось бы отметить не менее выдающуюся музыку, достойную великого метра Акиры Ямаоки. Особенно мне понравилось парить под вапорвэйв на хаб-локации. Рекомендую включить погромче, чтобы в полной мере насладиться этими чарующими душу звуками.

This game is HARD like really sweaty level hard. Not my type of game, but the vibe it's really good. If you like hard games, this might be one you'd like
Жутковатый платформер с сатанинской эстетикой. Скримеры присутствуют, но не много. В отличие от сиквела Teocida, не воспринимает себя так серьёзно. Геймплей в основном платформинг с элементами пазлов. Пазлы достаточно простые, намного легче, чем в той же Teocida. Четвёртой стены здесь практически нет, хватает отсылок на реальный мир и обращений к игроку.
Игра способна заинтриговать и поднять настроение, но она для людей со специфическим вкусом. Точно не для страдающих от эпилепсии, верующих и впечатлительных. Если вы видели её где-то и вам она показалось интересной, стоит взять. Скорее всего, вам не показалось.
Bem tenebroso e dark, irado demais!
This game absolutely blew my mind. A strong recommendation from me for my fellow platformer lovers. Difficult enough to feel rewarding in the hardest sections, no bs difficulty (e.g. difficulty resulting from annoying momentum/physics). Fluid gameplay, great puzzles, rewarding boss fights.
The story and the aesthetic are both wondeful. HR Giger and Anton LaVey had a baby, and that baby was this game. Absolute must play for all my fellow horror lovers, appreciators of esoteric knowledge, and just anyone looking to challenge their understanding of the world. Be warned: once you beat the game, you are only halfway done; so much lurks beneath the surface.
I cannot wait for Vikintor to release more. I'm off to play their games that they released after this.

I feel really conflicted by TAMASHII. On one hand its a decently well made puzzle platformer but on the other hand, its too short and everything feels so abrupt.
It has many great gameplay mechanics that unfortunately it does not expand further. Horror elements felt like they existed just for the sake of it. To top it all of, the story wasn't interesting enough to carry the game.

Tamashii is iconoclasm in game form, the subversion of the sanctified, the untouchable, it is taking the sacred and turning it inside out to show its bizarre, contradictory face.
Tamashii is an excellent puzzle game that manages to incorporate these elements into its aesthetics and narrative. These are things that are not dissociated, everything there makes sense, it is interconnected. The story is quite interesting for those who like this type of narrative. It is a relatively short game, but totally satisfying, the controls are great, the puzzles are intriguing and do not try to repeat themselves, always evolving in difficulty. Now another factor that we must mention is how it works excellently with the bosses, very interesting, elevating all this aesthetic to the maximum within its possibilities.
Tamashii for fans of the profane and puzzle games is a choice that you don't need to worry about, it is guaranteed quality.

Keep this in mind, IM AN ATHEIST (a somewhat sane one) so thats NOT why im downvoting this game.
Before giving a detailed review, i want to give an objective summary for those who dont have time to read: not worth your money, much less your time, you get 2 hours of gameplay, 3 if you are drunk or suck at dynamic puzzles.
NOW, THE REVIEW:
For those of you with more religeous sensibilities, there will be more details at the bottom of the review. Its not exactlyt what makes this a bad game, but it IS worth talking about
That said, the most important part is the following 3 paragraphs:
First the gameplay: he game is a precision puzzle plaformer (theres a dash of bullet hell in some sections and at the end) which integrates timing, indirect ways to fight bosses and lot of creepiness (some works, some is awfully simple and cheap), Honestly, it all feels like a cheap way to push forwards symbolism and messages which may sound cool to impressionable minds (i feel thats actually the point of the game) and some other bs. Honestly, If you strip this game of everything but the gameplay, it IS competent, but the only thing which could "blow" someones mind (if the mind is weak) is everything BUT the gameplay.
Now the artstyle, I would describe it as "Undertale meets Clive Barker snorting Lovecrafts ashes", but it also chooses to throw in some silly jumpscares, and very loaded narratives filled with an air self importance.
The puzzles are well made, but the actual gameplay gets boring easy, there is a certain appeal at catching the pieces of messages and symbolisms, but if you know your stuff, you can predict the narrative after beating the first boss and meeting the 3rd character.....
TO THE DEVELOPER: anagrams are a lazy story telling resource and your tweaking of symbolism is even lazier.
RELIGIOUS SENSIBILITIES SECTION:
Developer comes off as either a S*t*nist or a Thelemite (VERY confused people can be both at the same time... if you dont know what that is, read up on Aleister Crowley), or rather thats what im sure he THINKS he is, in truth he reads as nothing but well read edgy troll who smells his own farts ...but really, there is no need to censor people like this, you just push them away, out of mind.
As for YOUR possible fears about this game, DONT WORRY, small children wont make it far, teens will get bored BUT, if you have a teen who is at least borderline mentally ill and has an obsessive personality, THIS GAME is a good reason for Steams family filter or some other way to block this developer. Mentally ill teens can gravitate towards garbage like this and thus may seek communities which will ad nothing but missery and chaos to their lives.
IN THIS GAME YOU WILL FIND
1- very "on the nose" perversions of the concept of God (and his "name") and the image of Jesus
2-Occultist propaganda
3-""Satanist"" symbolism (or at the very least symbols which are being taken by satanism due to ignorance, edginess, mental illness and propaganda machines)
4-Cabalistic refferences
5-Depiction of "demonic" entities, but not more than many other games
6-3rd grader full blown anti religion rethoric/propaganda. Again, atheist speaking, but i know how these peoples minds were manufactured, and this just too much to respect as "intelligent" arguments, and the sad truth is humanity is at its best when observing faith and ritual, and of all the faiths, this game KINDA mocks/insults all, but leans into the best one we ever had any right to hope for.
7-there is sexual imagery (completely missable, but its there)
8-In the final sections [spoiler] you are groomed as special by a character (anagram of lucifer), given wings and the first thing you do is shoot down crosses [/spoiler], none of it is portrayed as manipulation by a nefarious entity, no, the moment you take that rol, you become this anagram character and your actions are portrayed as what must happen while "God" is given the stereotipically petulant lines which people who hate the concept of God and religion ALWAYS give him
9- unnecessary radical feminism ingrained into the narrative
10- After very ddirect dig after dig at christian religion, it ends fully revealing that your mission is to kill God/not God, only to drop you onto some more perversion of christian symbols, but it seems to leave it for another game (edit: damn, this guys predictable AF... next game is called Teocida, can be translated as "god killer")
11-glorification of witches and paganism, not the entertaining kind, the kind you usually hear from dirty people who spout bs slogans like "down with the patriarchy" and annoy people with pointless displays of activism
In short.... the game is for a very reduced disreputable audience

This is more of a neutral review than a negative one, even if I didn't really enjoy the experience much. Going into this, I was expecting a very different vibe than the game delivers. This is more of a playable creepypasta game than a proper surreal horror experience. The gameplay is fine, kind of annoying trial and error puzzle platformer stuff. Tamashii is all about the visuals and atmosphere, with the pixel art and scanlines to make it feel like an old computer game. Unfortunately, it's also a massive hindrance to the experience. As you make clones to solve the puzzles, the visuals get more distorted, enough that it sometimes affects the readability of levels and sometimes you'll get killed by things you won't notice. Worse though, are the boss areas with extremely distorted effects all over everything, that kill readbility AND genuinely cause eye strain for me. And worst of all, and what made me drop the game, are what it'll pull in the hub area: RANDOM SCREAMERS for genuinely no reason. The screen will go dark, loud screaming noises, and a scary face will pop up. It completely takes me out of the experience and like I said before, makes this feel like a playable creepypasta and not the horror platformer I thought this was gonna be. The idea of a playable creepypasta that isn't just adapting an existing one is cool, but the execution here is just annoying most of the time.

The art style alongside the sound design of this game make it such an intriguing experience to go through. The game is relatively short, with some interesting secrets as well. Despite its short length, it provides an entertaining story that is only complemented by the design of the game.

this is a vile game. it made me feel physically ill. i have never played a game that felt like there was something so deeply WRONG with it. it's maybe the most uncomfortable i have ever been while playing a game. it made my skin crawl and my head pound.
good puzzles, incredible giger architecture, but the soundtrack is droning and oppressive in a bad way that gave me a headache. i kept thinking the thumping from the soundtrack was my upstairs neighbors stomping around
while the puzzles are mostly really solid but they're definitely rage game adjacent with some feeling more like trial and error endurance tests. it still felt great to beat them though
it's all worth it for the end. i'm going to go lie down

Interessante ver como Tamashii foi o início da franquia Tamashii - Estigma - TEOCIDA. Muito interessante o universo que está sendo construído e estou ansioso para ver o desfecho dele no futuro.
A história é realmente bem escrita e sua crítica é válida. A estética visual e sonora é maravilhosa e extremamente sombria (acredito que no sentido de ser sombrio, Tamashii é um pouco mais sombrio que o TEOCIDA).

I came into this game right after playing Teocida (which I loved btw). It seemed like just a simpler, worse Teocida and it kind of is but I liked it anyway. I do recommend it. Beautiful game. Wonderful art and music. Vikintor is amazing.
A unique puzzle platformer with an intense occult, hr giger aesthetic and story that plays a lot of neat tricks on you.
HOWEVER, while progressing the hub world there are random stock photo screamer jumpscares that occur which significantly cheapened the experience for me, and for that reason alone I cannot recommend it to most people.

Excellent Game. Incredible atmosphere building and vibes, unique visuals and fun puzzle gameplay, with lots of secrets if you want to explore more.
Tamashii isn't really scary per se, but rather creepy in that neat online creepypasta way which keeps you hooked until the very end.
The puzzles are easy to solve so you'll love it even if you don't usually like the genre, and the game is so choke-full of novel ideas and cool experimentation that it feels like an amazing break from the samey drag that is modern gaming. Think Braid meets Pony Island, but much easier to beat and with a serious tone.
Be wary that there are some very disturbing screamers with gruesome imagery.

Pra quem gosta de quebrar a cabeça com uns puzzles, esse jogo faz isso muito bem. A arte é bem única e bem bizarra (no sentido bom), e o mistério que envolve a história do jogo é bem cativante também. As boss fights são um tanto que diferente mas não deixa de ser ruim. Recomendo

Tamashii was a very enjoyable puzzle-platformer with some surreal horror peppered in. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a novel experience. The pixel art was very interesting and some of the puzzles were real head-scratchers.

It's a macabre little game. The puzzles are of reasonable difficulty with the harder ones taking some time to figure out. The bosses are really fun and are designed in a pretty interesting way where you have to place a clone of yourself in a certain area for it to shoot projectiles at the boss in order to damage it. The boss fight is getting to that area while avoiding attacks and keeping your clone safe from being destroyed.
The aesthetic is the main draw of the game. It looks like a sort of HR Giger-esque style. Very nice. There are a small number of jump scares in the game but only 2 different types I think. One of those types happens a couple of times but you come to expect it after it happens a couple of times so it's not too jarring.
The dialogue is kind of meaningless and abstract but at least there's not very much of it.

Toda a estética e a ideia do jogo são fascinantes, mas as lutas contra chefes usando as mecânicas de solução de quebra cabeças são estressantes e frustrantes. Não consigo avançar sem recorrer a ajuda e me sinto um idiota, coisa que provavelmente sou. Sofrimento tem a ver com a temática desse mundo, é o inferno, é pra ser doloroso, mas é muito legal quando a gente soluciona o problema sozinho por que o jogo deu ferramentas o suficiente para isso. Me encantei pela arte, pelo tom experimental mas acabei não curtindo na hora de jogar. Parece um pesadelo, parece o tipo de jogo que eu jogaria em um caso tivesse pesadelos com jogos, talvez essa noite eu acabe tendo mas não pelos motivos legais. Não me diverti e estou dropando.
This game is quite possibly one of the most...otherworldly, surreal horror games I have ever played and it is amazing. The visuals, the color scheme, the screen filters all create this beautifully unnerving and foreign atmosphere that I don't think many other games I've played have achieved. The music (and to a smaller extent, the sound design) also compliments the overall mood of the game, too. The closest thing I can compare this game's aura to is the one I feel while looking at the screenshots from the Godzilla NES creepypasta.
Presentation aside, this game has a very simple but interesting premise: Tamashii is a puzzle platformer that sees you taking on a mission from God himself to purify his temple of the "perverse force" that has invaded it. In order to accomplish this, you must conquer several chambers, themed sets of levels. Each level is completed by platforming your way from where you start to an exit door. These levels often have a puzzle keeping the exit door locked, requiring you to figure out how to utilize the level's various tile-based gimmicks to open the door (and sometimes, the path to it). You have a single weapon at your arsenal; 3 placeable clones that for the most part have the same properties as you. These clones will expire after a certain amount of time, so there will be many cases where you will have to act fast (not [i]too[/i] fast though) in order to solve a puzzle and proceed. Without spoiling the game or going into much detail, this game mechanic gets used in a variety of interesting ways.
My only problem with this game is that almost as soon as you've begun...the game is already coming to a close. There are, however, several optional challenges for people who want to squeeze a little bit more out of this game before moving on; All chambers, once completed, can be replayed but with the added challenge of attaining a high score, determined by how fast you play and whether you can complete a level without resetting once. There's also a ton of easter eggs to find that somewhat expand on the environmental lore (I don't know if that makes sense but it's the best way I can describe it), a lot of which are tied to achievements.
Unlike most other horror games I've played, this one and its 2 sequels (Estigma and Teocida) have left a major impression on me and I tend to think about them sometimes since I've completed them. If the [b]recurring usage of nudity and occasional jumpscare[/b] doesn't bother you and you're looking for a new horror game to dig into, [i]I highly reccomend playing this.[/i] If you like this game enough, get Estigma and Teocida too.

really enjoyed playing the game, found the puzzles became a good challenge after a while and the story and visuals are pretty creepy.
Although the reason why I was kinda disappointed by the end was that it felt so short. It didn't feel like story wrapped itself up, maybe that was the plan, but finishing the game and even finding all the secrets left a disatisfactory taste in my mouth.
Although, you could say the only reason why I feel that so strongly is because I really liked this game. I wish they could have said more, shown more.
The visuals, I'd say they become actually scary after a while. That surprised me a great deal, considering it's very hard to get spooked by games after playing so many. the sound design for certain bosses are although jarring and unsettling, which for me is a good thing
Maybe I need to play it again and I'll get something more out of it, but I remember finding everything there is to find and thinking "that's it..?"
Regardless, it was enjoyable, scary, interesting, everything you want in a horror game. Just didn't give enough of what's going on.
its short and fun, but the lack of ability to rebind keys as well as the settings menu, which includes options to turn off the glitching and other flashing effects, resetting every time you launch it is a pain.
This game is absolutely devastating to play at 3 in the morning, never again.
Highly recommended if you enjoy puzzle, platforming, and terror all in one bundled up package.

По началу, кажется, что геймплей здесь для галочки, но нет, головоломки действительно продуманные, и есть секреты.

good puzzle platformer with a simple well executed mechanic, no janky showstoppers, the game flows well, offering easy paths, more importantly the occult storyline is taken seriously instead of shallow spooks and the visual design or art is thoughtful and fun. there is sadly some jumpscares with clipping audio and the scanlines have to be turned off every launch but these are minor annoyances the game is great.

This is an amazing and addicting platformer with awesome graphics and an interesting narrative. It has so many little secrets and trick I highly recommend it.

this game is an acid trip of satanic/cult styled art with some pretty cool uses of gore cant wait to play the sequel ill prob buy it tomorrow prob but this game is 100% worth your money even if its not on sell id recommend getting it
i dont understand some of the story but u dont gotta understand any of it to have fun and see some really cool visuals
