this is a game that would've been a million dollar smash hit 20 years ago
I love this game. You use graffiti or tag as it called as superpowers to move the around the city. The main point of this game is simple, you collect disc and go to the next level. But you have to complete missions in a tight time to get many disc. Also, the movement in this game is really fast that when you played it for the first time you are going to fall many times. Still, rest assured you're not going to lose anything big just by falling so don't give up. Next, the way the power is implemented is brilliant. I like the fact that you can put the tag power in both hand and use both of your mouse button simultaneously. Even then, the game does get HORRIFYINGLY HARD over times and even I cannot 100% completed the game so better play the game for fun if you do not want to be depressed. By the way if the devs is reading this please optimize the game a little bit more. In conclusion, this fast paced action game that I can move freely in the air is fun. Give it a try, it is really hidden and criminally underrated.
Honestly love this game to death, played the ♥♥♥♥ out of the demo and bought it instantly when it first came out, though it can be a bit flat on the combat side, zipping around the maps makes up for it

Not for me. The game is nice to look at, but just kind of frustrating to play. The movement and exploration is fun, but can only be really enjoyed by using Hi-Hat and Reverb, and any mistake with either of them will completely ruin your flow. Combat is a pain, you'll have to fight tons of enemies while barely doing anything to them, and upgrades only help out a little bit. Overall a cool concept that doesn't feel the greatest.

I CAN RUN FASTER THAN A TRAIN
Controls are floaty, abilities are okay, exploration is really fun, challenges feel like they had little to no play testing, and often relies on RNG for certain elements. Combat feels unrewarding, story is kinda funny, here and there, there is at least plenty to do, collect, and explore, but progression feels like it kinda dips after the second area. You can’t beat the price, and honestly it is fun, even if it can really fracking frustrating at times.
It's the dark souls of movement shooters. It's also the dark souls of collectathons. It separates the strong and the weak. The world is oodles of fun to just bounce around in and pull off goofy physics tricks. I'm still progressing the story with a lower skill level which is really nice. You want to 100% the challenges?-get ready for pain. Good pain- actually the BEST kind of pain.
This combat is garbage. I fall off so often, and I feels like I'm tickling the enemies. Such a shame as the parkour is quite good.
Great game! It has very fun movement, and lots of things to do. If you are into first person platformers and collectathons you'll have a good time with this. Its very well made and has a nice sense of style.

feels like your character has wet bars of soap tied to their shoes at all times. what should have felt like a seamless platforming experience with unique mechanics ends up getting hindered by horrendously slippery controls. most of my health was not sapped by the in-game enemies that only show up when you start breaking things in an otherwise barren world, but the fact my character had the zoomies and could not help but overshoot and fall off the buildings constantly, making the tight time-sensitive npc quests feel like a chore to accomplish.
I tried to like this. I played the demo and really enjoyed it, but I had some gripes with it. Apparently the issues I had hadn't been changed since the demo. The game itself looks very interesting - a blend of movement shooter with a style similar to games like Jet Set Radio. With a cool artstyle and an interesting mechanic of creating weapons from graffiti around the environment, I thought this would make for a fun game - review-worthy to be sure. It was worthy of a review, all right, but not one I'd praise.
The game starts off with a cool animatic of a guy hopping into the sewer. You follow a guy called Boogie through the sewers to a base of resistance against a corrupt and evil government. Boogie instructs you to get vinyls and street cred, and you're sent off to the first area - the mall. I did not get further then the mall.
The game requires you to progress by doing time trials and other activities that combine the movement and combat of the game. The issue is that to progress, you're incentivized to use the weapon's movement tools. This is fine - games usually require you to use their tools to progress - but the ones the game gives you are shoddy and one-note. In addition, they don't always fire when you click the fire button. It seems like every time I try and shoot one of the weapons (dubbed "tags" by the game), you have to flip a coin. Heads it fires after maybe half a second of delay and tails it doesn't fire at all - it'll get back to you in 3-5 business days on that one, chief.
In addition to this, the tags themselves are not made equal. You're initially given access to 5 different weapon types, each with their own blend of blandness. The purple one isn't useful because the discs it makes rely on you stopping in a game about going as quick as you can. The green one is hard to control, relying on you to release it to get a burst of movement in a direction - again, that would be great, IF IT WOULD FIRE WHEN I CLICK IT. The blue one allows you to rocket-jump, and it's really fun. However, in the objectives where you're required to touch the buildings it sometimes counts as touching and sometimes doesn't. So if I use it to keep my momentum upon touching an objective, there's a solid chance it just means I don't actually get to contact the objective. The red one lets you fall slower. How thrilling. The yellow one lets you fire a burst that knocks you away from where you shoot - but it's delayed sometimes, leading you to fall into voids when you normally shouldn't. Also, the reload takes way too long for a weapon that has the reliability of grandpa's sawed-off that's rusted in the shed for a couple decades after the war.
The narrative, while cheeky and light, doesn't really make any sense. "Hey, welcome to the resistance! Let's fight the power! Go out there and collect our misplaced casettes and vinyls, and get insulted by us while you do so! We're on the RIGHT SIDE!!!!". The thing is, the narrative goes to the wayside in favor of the gameplay, but the gameplay isn't anything worth writing home about, either.
Oh, and the movement! The ice-rink level of control is lovely, too! Being able to mantle onto buildings a solid 30% of the time really gets you into the head of an up-and-coming rebel, dodging around the rooftops and fighting that dastardly government that comes after you when you destroy public property and commit crimes for no good reason. If only the movement was a little more tuned, then perhaps the refund I requested wouldn't sit so snugly in Valve's mailboxes.
Honestly, if the shooting and movement was polished just a little more before launch, it's very likely I'd sing the praises of this game. But the thing is, this movement shooter lacks good movement and good shooting. I know the dev team is small, but if there is anything you take from this cruel review, please, please, please, polish the movement and shooting. I'd like to like your game, but I keep slipping off the buildings on the way there.

You inherit powers from the graffiti you find all over, and you'll use these to move around and take down baddies. On your adventure, you'll be meeting new characters, collecting vinyl records and tapes, doing tasks, upgrading your abilities and living life on the Mirrors Ed-
Jokes aside, TAGLINE takes a good amount of inspiration from the best parts of Jet Set Radio, Mirrors Edge (and catalyst), and old open world platformers of the past. Somewhat big levels crammed with lots to collect and do, all accompanied by a fantastic movement system.
Even without the powers, the movement feels extremely fast, acceleration and momentum heavy, and completely liberating. Floaty, even, but not in a negative or bad way, a completely positive and fun way actually! Adding on the powers you get a movement system so tightly made that it becomes completely exhilarating to even just jump around. It's that good.
Of those powers there are 5, each bringing a new way to either get around or engage in combat
[*][b]Red - Compressor:[/b] Shoots out fast firing projectiles that will explode objects/enemies after enough shots, and can also be used to slow your descent by shooting downwards!
[*][b]Blue - Hi-Hat:[/b] Places a jump-pad wherever you fire, whether on the floor, walls, ceiling, whatever! Shooting enemies will knock them back a little bit.
[*][b]Green - Bitcrush:[/b] Create a crystalized shield to take less damage, in this form you'll accelerate even faster than before! Releasing will dash you in whatever direction you are facing.
[*][b]Yellow - Reverb:[/b] Shoot out a blast of pellets that will knock back enemies and you alike! You'll need to shortly reload after firing it however.
[*][b]Pink - Waveform:[/b] Charge up a pink crystal that does high damage to enemies and creates a platform on whatever surface you hit!

You can hold two of these at a time with either one of your hands, allowing you to mix and match them to find your personal favourite combinations. Some are better in certain scenarios, such as Compression and Waveform being better for combat, or Hi-Hat and Reverb being better for movement. It creates a very engaging system where you decide what you want to use for which situation.
[h1][b]With all that being said, I do have some issues with the game...[/b][/h1]
Combat isn't very well executed, with large swarms of enemies bombarding you with little to no-way to counteract it apart from either 'run away' or 'trade damage and pray for health drops'. This is easily the part of the game that could've used the most fleshing out.
The powers in the game are well executed, but I feel the game would have benefited with the addition of even just two more powers. The upgrades do help alleviate some of the staleness from the five powers, but the five you get begin to wear out after enough time.
And on the topic of powers, Waveform feels near useless in movement and Hi-Hat feels completely meaningless in combat. I'm nearly convinced this is a deliberate choice to make you switch between the powers instead of just carrying them, but Waveform especially could have benefitted from say, an upgrade to place platforms mid-air.
The challenges when going for platinum are tough, and to be fair, that's good, I like a good challenge. The problem however is that the majority of records are earned through these, and the quota to reach new areas is obscenely high for an average player. I've had experience with movement games and platformers, so I didn't have too much issue, but I could see this being a really big turn-off from the game for a casual player.
Some of the challenges get a smidge repetitive too, but the movement and basketball challenges I always had fun with, I really enjoyed just jumping around. I just wish there was a little bit more variety with them, like new challenges being introduced later on.

[b]The game has amazing amounts of charm, from its characters, to its world, to even the graffiti on the walls, its all amazing stuff! Its fun to get lost in it's movement and go with the flow, even without any sense of direction. Also accompanied by an OST that screams Jet Set and rebel angst. It's got a few faults, but if you like a well crafted movement system you may be able to look past them. A complete hidden gem of a game that deserves more popularity, buy it if you have the money and you will not be disappointed.[/b]

Really fun game that has engaging characters and a Jet Set Radio aesthetic. The movement controls could be polished a bit more but more than acceptable for a 2 person team. The mechanics are extreme parkour with graffiti plasmids. There is honestly at least one NPC for everyone to enjoy.
Would recommend and look forward to this studio's next game...that is of course after I finish this one.

EDIT: the review was first written after I had collected 120 Vinyls and "beat" the game. Now im trying to get all 200. Currently at 16 hours I have 173 and there are many secrets Im trying to find to get more. LOOK EVERYWHERE. READ THE WALLS. GO BACK TO THE TUTORIAL. I AM GOING INSANE.
EDIT 2: 20 hours. 192/200 Vinyls. Still going insane because of the DOORS. I love the doors. It's a cool way to make the world feel more connected. BUT DAMN GOOD LUCK FINDING THE CONNECTIONS. Just now I found the door to get a Vinyl in a place that was taunting me. I'll edit 3 when I have all of the collectibles. Also, even with UUU's freecam it's REAL HARD to find what I'm looking for.

Tagline is by far the best FPS of 2023. I am so glad I found this game, and so glad I was able to participate in the early stages of the game, especially along with the awesome community they foster.
While I was playing they implemented developer medals and they were some of the most fun goals to chase. After 67 short hours I already know I'm going to miss this game.
A fun platformer with tons of areas to explore and hidden things to find, a coo crew to chat with too. Keeps my ADHD brain quiet and happy. If you were looking for an essay, I apologize in advance, I just like the game, maaan.
Un jeu d'un style nouveau, j'aime bien le gameplay des pouvoirs que l'on peut combiner avec ses deux mains, cela donne de nombreuses façons de jouer au jeu. Les courses de parcours me donnent envie d'aller toujours plus vite et de trouver des combinaisons qui marcheraient encore mieux, hâte de les avoir toutes au max pour pouvoir voir a quelle vitesse je pourrais aller !

This game is super sleek in its movement and feels challenging and rewarding to play. I'm in love with the art style and can tell a lot of love was put into this game. Give it a shot if you enjoy going fast :).
Tagline is a great substitute for squats; the butt-clenching you'll be doing as you throw yourself up, around, and off rooftop buildings will more than make up for it. This style of game usually isn't something I partake in- but its time trial mode has scratched an itch I didn't know I had. It isn't perfect (the movement can feel a bit too slippery at times, and I didn't even consider the combat challenges until I invested heavily into upgrades) but I can tell you that I have absolutely loved exploring this game- would 100% recommend.
I'm definitely a passive gamer but this is a fun time. Mixing and matching the powers is great but i love double-fisting compressor to blow the baddies away. Easy to get into and easy to get lost in (in the best way possible). 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a game to vibe with for hours

This is a game of several time based challenges spread across the map and not much else,while normally I would find a open world game with doing similar activities throughout very repetitive and boring but its very fun here since the world is fully built around movement and all the challenges focus on the key component of the game its movement instead of you clearing out a enemy camps. doing random ,mini games etc.It is very fun to try and try again to get platinum ranking son the challenges by getting faster and faster at them.
Music seems nice so far very Jet Set Radio like fits the game well.The visual looks very simple in motion but its looks very charming playing it and more importantly makes everything easily readable no matter how fast your blazing through the world.I do feel maybe I kinda wish I could get a late game upgrade that would let me store one extra power so I can swap between powers on the fly instantly allowing even more creativity and choices to do while trying to move through levels super fast instead of just sticking to 2 powers and not swapping them out really much during challenges.
Overall though a focus on simple flat level design and simple to use abilities that work well off each other and on any surface in the open world really make you feel that you can do or plan out and make a route/shortcut in any direction or surface you want which means the game gives movement a very player expression driven feeling and its a lot of fun.

Such a cute game! I've only played through parts of the first level- but I really enjoy the "open-worldness" approach. It's not common in games like this. Art style is great, sound is great. It's going to take time to learn the mchanics but I there's a lot of potential: especially for speedrunning!
I'm not normally draw to first person games but this is a special case. I keep finding myself drawn back to play more, Wanting outrun and beat my previous times and scores. I cannot recommend it enough.
Tagline is an incredibly smooth, wonderfully old-fashioned, and extremely fun game oozing with character! The gameplay is rock-solid, graffiti powers are pretty unique and fun to use, and the game is accessible enough to complete without too much hassle, but challenging enough to leave more dedicated gamers wanting more... Gameplay is surprisingly dense, a tougher learning curve rewards trial and error. Plus, there are plenty of secrets! I was pleasantly surprised by the writing; pretty dense for a game like this!
All in all, a solid game. Very addicting!

Overall a good experience so far with a few nitpicks.
The Nitpicks/general thoughts:
I wish there was a restart button that you could hold down without needing to go to the menu. The menu buttons are also confusing when I'm trying to quickly hit them. The quit button looks like an eject symbol and the restart button is a rewind symbol which makes it a little confusing.
This game definitely thrives off of its movement based mechanics way more than the combat. The combat is extremely frustrating especially when going for plats.
The movement really boils down to 2 colors, Although I only have 3 hours for 95% of that time I've been using yellow and blue. The other colors are almost useless besides double red for combat. Double red also feels like the only viable combat option.
Settings are pretty limited, I wish that there was at least double binding.
During the break objects challenge you shouldn't get heat imo.
The heat mechanic is annoying. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet but it feels like you either have to die or leave and re-enter the level to get rid of heat.
You can die in challenging which is pretty annoying because you then have to re-find the challenges. A lot in which are not marked on the map except for the main ones.
And lastly, not so much a nitpick, but I wish there was a double jump and a dash, I find myself hitting shift to dash and double tap space for double jumps subconsciously very often
A fast paced blend of platforming and skill. The fun comes from spending time in the game, exploring your abilities, and learning to master them.
Things get intense when you reach that flow states, because the longer you move the faster your player gets. Skill is encouraged to not break that chain. Really cool, can't wait to play it on my steam deck so I can get good at the game.
Short version: Fantastic game, highly recommend.
Long-ish version: Tagline easily lands in a specific category of game not many others have managed for me, Games That are Fun to Move Around In (joined only by Gravity Rush 2 and PS4 Spiderman). One of my favorite things to do is get double bounce pads and bound around the rooftops, which makes secret hunting a blast as well. In the combat's case, each ability can harm enemies in some way, and while the upgrades usually boil down to doing more or doing faster, I want to do more and faster. I guess my only nitpick is that I wish there was an orange color too, so we could get the full ROY-G-BI(V). I can definitely see myself putting in the time to 100% complete this.

Технически достаточно простенькая, что сразу оттолкнёт большое количество игроков, но сделано всё со стилем, с очень классными артамим, с реально качающей музыкой, и, прям "с душой", наверное, проект детской мечты 2 разработчиков, у нас есть небольшой открытый мир, как в старых мультяшных играх, наполненный несколькими десятками "коллектиблсов" и разными простенькими мини-играми с 3-мя видами оценок, чем выше ваша медаль - тем больше даётся дисков, за которые можно в будущем открыть ещё 3 локации,
Что интересно, игра предлагает достаточно глубокую механику способностей, по всем крышам города разбросаны граффити разных цветов, каждый из которых даёт разную способность, каждую из которых можно использовать, как и для платформинга, так и для боёв, при этом всё это ещё и можно прокачивать, это добавляет некий элемент "песочницы", при этом задания же тоже можно проходить в рандомном порядке, а именно обязательных/сюжетных я за 2 часа не встретил,
Но наряду с этим сами кор. механики плафторминга или стрельбы достаточно примитивные (кст, звуки способностей ужасны, как-будто кто-то по стеклу ножом чиркает),
И, вы можете быстро устать от простеньких гонок из точки A в точку B или "собери все чемоданы за 30 секунд" или победи всех противников в магазине, или выживи 2 минуты, отстреливаясь от противников (в этом типе кстати лютый дизбаланс, врагов слишком много, а область очень маленькая),
Поэтому обидно, что игра немного дороговатая, думаю за меньшую цену её бы больше кто заметил,
В неё есть за что играть, но лучше проходить с перерывами, короткими сессиями по 1-2 часа.

Technically, it’s quite simple, which will immediately alienate a large number of players, but everything is done with style, with very cool art, with really entertaining music, and, straight from the soul, probably a childhood dream project of 2 developers, we have a small open world, like in old cartoon games, filled with several dozen “collectibles” and various simple mini-games with 3 types of ratings, the higher your medal, the more disks you are given, for which you can open 3 more locations in the future,
What’s interesting is that the game offers a fairly deep mechanics of abilities; graffiti of different colors is scattered all over the roofs of the city, each of which gives a different ability, each of which can be used both for platforming and for battles, while all this can also be upgraded , this adds a certain “sandbox” element, while the tasks can also be completed in random order, namely, I didn`t meet the mandatory / story ones in 2 hours,
But along with this, the core mechanics of platforming or shooting are quite primitive (by the way, the sounds of the abilities are terrible, as if someone is striking the glass with a knife),
And, you can quickly get tired of simple races from point A to point B or “collect all the suitcases in 30 seconds” or defeat all the opponents in the store, or survive for 2 minutes while shooting at opponents (in this type, by the way, there is a serious imbalance, there are too many enemies , and the area is very small),
Therefore, it’s a shame that the game is a little expensive, I think for a lower price more people would notice it,
There is a lot to play in it, but it is better to play it intermittently, in short sessions of 1-2 hours.

This game is tons of fun! It pays homage to old school games while giving a new school feel. If you looking for a fast paced plat-former then this will be right up your alley. The game is challenging, but not to challenging that it turns you off to the game. Highly recommend for any kind of gamer looking for a fun experience!

Awesome movement based fps! it's fun getting the hang of the powers and how they impact the movement, i think i'm getting better! i love the races and trying to get better times. just made it to the mall and am making my way through there, discovering all the different challenges. also the art and style are dope. kinda feels like a fps version of tony hawk they way they got the levels and challenges structured.
