If your favorite games were Suikoden, Ogre Battle, and Shining Force....then this is for you. Seems well-polished. Pleasantly complex. Even well-balanced with all classes being viable for most of the game. Story and dialog are....what you'd expect from RPG maker.

一周目，军阀难度通关后评价。游戏本身不算差，但只是先看了评价，没有想象中的好，再加上纯纯的机翻台词，最后给个不推荐吧。
画面有一点像火焰之纹章，但是玩法上完全不像，玩法更像圣兽之王，不过二者的区别还是蛮大的，圣兽之王由于存在一些buff，因此对于出手顺序的要求会更加严格，而这个游戏大部分时候快就是好。
然后本游戏的先后手差别巨大，先手能先攻击一轮，如果造成地方减员那么敌方的伤害会骤降不少，反过来也一样，再强大的队伍也难顶住对面几波围攻，基本上很难出现你一支队伍乱军从中无双。不过从这一角度来说本游戏还有一个特色就是把一个队伍里的敌人杀得差不多就不用管了，我只能说就一两个人的小队打你等于奶你。
本游戏有庞大的职业划分，不同职业都有各自的特色，前排硬有刺客偷后排，火枪手秒前排（我的火枪怎么没那么高伤害），脆皮扎堆有大炮军团，后排奶顶住，前排硬的传统队伍等，但是你有的，敌人也有，而且敌人还不怕死一队猛猛上，造成你一个减员就是赚，后面的几关还喜欢搞人海战术，打的挺烦的。
然后这个游戏个人觉得作为战旗最奇怪的一点就是战斗结果的不可视化，你在打之前根本不知道结果，只能猜，你这一波攻击能杀光对面吗？能杀几个？除非一些一目了然的队伍克制，不然你大多都是不知道结果的。这点作为战旗恶言很反直觉，并不是说不能有随机要素，火纹也有，但是连预估结果都不给是否有点……
然后是本游戏的难度，简单来说就是很简单（不开永久死亡），我一周目军阀，打到后面懒得配神器、队伍、练级，最后一关开始前也就四十多级也过了，再加上能竞技场练级游戏本身是不难的。
总结：喜欢队伍搭配必玩，喜欢战旗可以试试，玩游戏喜欢剧情的别碰。

I came into this game expecting Ogre Battle. It really isn't that. It does not scratch that itch. Yet despite some people comparing and contrasting them, it isn't really quite like Fire Emblem or even Advance Wars in any meaningful way either by my estimation. It is, all things considered, something of a unique or, at least to me, novel experience within the realm of SRPGs. I can't say that it necessarily does anything I haven't seen before - indeed all of the component parts feel familiar - yet the specific way in which it all comes together feels a bit special. I cleared the main story and I mostly had a good time. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it to literally anybody who enjoys SRPGs? Not without caveats. But I DO recommend it, especially if you can pick it up on sale, as I did. I'm writing this review right after watching the credits roll, and so, in some ways, I haven't had enough time to sit with my thoughts on the game to make a deep dive into it and really deconstruct all of the successes and shortcomings within, but I can try to make a short list of the things that may hamper enjoyment for some people.

Firstly, the menuing is sticky, for lack of a better word. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the best of the best when it comes to slick, buttery smooth menuing, but regardless of why, I found myself needing to slow down and reattempt the inputs I actually intended many times. Your mileage may vary, but unintuitive action orders plus a slight delay make actually controlling the game stick out as a sour spot in my mind.

Next, the lack of meaningful growth in the relationships between characters. If you are a fan of supports in Fire Emblem, be aware that, while there are conversations between characters and romances can bloom on the battlefield, they will often leave you feeling like you missed something. It's as if you've skipped straight to the A or S ranks without having seen the two characters interact even once in some especially egregious cases.

Finally, I have some minor grips with the way the artifact system works. They largely feel as if they should be defining the entire playstyle of your squads, but such an overwhelmingly large number of them are very low impact. Then there's the issue of balance on the higher end. Some of the artifacts are straight up overpowered, while others, notably several of the legendary artifacts, feel just as underwhelming as any of their lower tier counterparts. I cannot speak to the vision the developers had for this system and how much sway it ought to have over the power of the squads, but I would personally argue that the artifacts alone need a huge balance overhaul. I would like the unique effects of legendaries, also, to not feel completely undercut by negative traits in a few cases.

All of that aside, I found this game thoroughly enjoyable, even if it took me a few weeks to plod through. Take breaks when the rough edges chafe, and I suspect you will find the game a pleasant and worthwhile experience as well. It isn't a masterclass, but most games aren't. Give it a shot and you may be surprised to find yourself with an unexpected personal favourite of the modern SRPG genre. I know I have, and am tentatively excited to see what the team does next. With any luck, I'll be traveling to the east with my beloved Diana soon enough.

A good and decent Fire Emblem-like skirmish JRPG. The game Ogre Battle 64 is probably a better comparison if you are familiar with that. If you wanted to try something different in that genre, there's a lot to like here.

Rather than a purely hero focused game like Fire Emblem or Shining Force, each unit contains an entire troop, with a small variety of units to choose from and artifacts to equip them with. There's a crazy amount of tinkering and optimization you can do in this game compared to other skirmish tactics games like this. The story is very vanilla, corrupt empires and the return of the demon king and all, but the gameplay alone elevates this above the standard. New Game Plus mode also introduces a lot of gameplay modifiers that can make things interesting too, and the DLC units are definitely worth it.

It's not very often I say this, but this game is perhaps about 10 chapters too long. The game fails to introduce meaningful new tactics past the midpoint, and the difficultly leans mostly on the very easy side when it isn't being unfair. You are massively punished for not relying on heavy infantry and hero units to tank hits, and trying to actually engage some units usually results in entire squads dying. Most maps forbidding reinforcements means its never worth the risk. All this combined means the entire second half of the game is a horrible slog. This game begs for a balance overhaul mod. Inconsistencies in the art/voice/story direction are also of note.

That said, I still recommend this game. If you were turned away from Fire Emblem because it felt too gimmicky or lacking in depth, this may be for you. If you are a fan of these kinds of strategic games, this is definitely worth checking out on sale. I would not recommend playing all the extra content though unless you are seriously into this stuff. Solid recommend.

I have a weird relationship with tactical RPG's. I was a huge fan of Shining Force back on the mega drive in the early 90's, but while I've played and enjoyed many of the Fire Emblem games that made this genre mainstream, I've never finished one, having drifted away to other games around the 60% mark. Symphony of War not only managed to overcome that hurdle for me, but was good enough that I also downloaded the DLC and played it through a second time. How it achieved that is difficult to pin down, but they've done a number of things that manages to spice up the gameplay enough that it never gets to feel repetitive.

The most notable addition is the use of squads rather than characters. While you have your standard named characters building an army, each can be outfitted (or combined together) to create miniature army units of anywhere from 1 to 9 units. These squads attack as one, and the units that comprise them come from a range of types that individually level up and can be promoted into greater classes. You might decide to move your soldiers up to be spear warriors, or give them shields to defend the units behind them. Or maybe you want to put them on a horse and move them into a cavalry unit? Do you want your apprentice magician to develop into a fire, ice, or lightning mage? Is your skirmisher going to move into the assassin class that opens on the enemy back ranks, or perhaps you want to give them a bit more survivability and have them move into the ranger class. Or maybe you want to move them into an acolyte to eventually build them up into a paladin. The choice is entirely yours. Between every battle I found myself spending a chunk of time micromanaging my squads, adding new units, moving some around, and the game is very soundly constructed to have this constantly developing over the full 30 campaign chapters. Since each squad's size is linked to the leadership stat of the commander, in the early game you're stretched to have squads bigger than 4-5, but this grows over time, not only in unit number or the amount of squads you can send into the field, but also introducing larger units such as dragons. It's really well done, and achieves wonders in tackling the issue of the gameplay stagnating which similar games suffer from in later stages due to them just being more of the same on different maps.

But the developers didn't just settle with that. Most of the battles can be accomplished within 8-12 rounds, with optional targets for additional resources to kit out and promote your units up littering the field to collect if you so choose. The story is also split into parts, where earlier chapters are quicker and smaller scale affairs, gradually building to the end of section big battle at which point a reset takes place. This wave-like delivery of the story means it's constantly refreshing itself, with the addition of more exotic units in the later game that breaks up the monotony of standard soldier, knight, archer, and assassin that the setting dictates in a medieval military world.

A further addition midgame introduces additional super powers. These are like hand of god abilities that can range from dropping fireballs on the heads of all enemy units in a + shaped set of squares, allowing a squad to teleport 10 squares away, refreshing an expended squad to have a second turn in the same round, or buffing a squad's defense while simultaneously forcing every enemy unit in range of it to attack them on their next turn. The choice of when and where to expend these can often decide whether you can complete the tight constraints in the bonus mission objectives or not, or you could choose not to use them and take down the enemy with strategic wits alone.

I could go on with all the small details they've stuffed in, the beautiful sprites, catchy music, the morale aspect of combat that allows you to break an enemy without necessarily killing them all, the talent tree unlocked based on an external reputation being built through your actions in the world, the various artifacts you can equip to your squads to further curstomise them, or the mini relationships the story characters can build with one another. Some of these work better than others (the relationship aspect feels a touch unfinished, and I'm never going to stop laughing at the random name thrown on a cultist being Adrian or Gregory), but it all adds together to create a wonderful game that's not only a joy to play through once, but has legitimate replayability value.

If I had one complaint, it's that I'd have liked a few more boss characters throughout the story. There are named villains to chase down, but the unique units on the battlefield tend to fall into future party members or meme enemies who don't even fight back. The game focuses heavily on the internal civil war with the empire, whereas I'd have liked to have a little more time given to the cult, with maybe some more unique boss exclusive units to take on once in a while. But that really is the smallest of complaints.

If I had to describe Symphony of War in a single sentence, I'd say it's a game designed to give you a huge amount of tools and elements to play with, but never forces any of them on you, instead respecting your ability to choose how you want to play. If you have even a fleeting interest in tactical RPGs, you want to give this one a play.

I want to recommend this game, but there are too many things I'm struggling to enjoy with it. To be honest, it almost ticks all the boxes but falls short on numerous things. I eyeing the 2nd game closely, I hope it does meet some of those expectations. I'll put some things I enjoyed first before I get into the bad.

Pros:
Character design:
Designs are pretty decent, only a few exceptions (lol the dragons look ridiculous) but overall I enjoy the sprite design and choices made.

Inventory/class management:
Pretty decent, I enjoyed gearing up teams and leveling them up. The random affinity system is interesting. I liked setting up squads before battle and looking at small upgrades/class changes.

Cons:
UI/QoL:
As someone who has played FE for decades and other SRPGs. This game falls short massively on this. No rewind feature (you basically need to save scum). No auto turn end. No clear combat forecast. Class stat growths? All of this kind of stuff is missing and makes the experience feel EXTREMELY dated (going back and playing FE7 on the gameboy advance doesn't feel as dated). I totally understand as a developer this isn't easy stuff to nail and indie developers should be given grace. But as a gamer you feel it, very quickly. This something I really hope is fixed with the second release. I shouldn't be looking at games 20 years ago to compare with this game.

Difficulty:
The game isn't hard by any stretch of the imagination, but it spikes randomly. This feels more cheap then anything. Cannons/gun units are crazy strong, and they start to be spammed later in the game (or on certain legends chapters). It's cool n all, they're pretty weak on player phase but, enemy phase you can't make mistakes against some of these units without losing entire squads. This adds to the aggravation with lack of rewind feature which I'll explain below.

Overall gameplay experience:
This is my biggest thing. I had more fun training in the arena and in the menu compared to actually on the battlefield. Most of the bonus objectives are time based (cool, I like additional rewards for good play) but other than that? It's not actually challenging. Besides the occasional reset on a legends chapter because X OP unit completely wiped out a unit after 2 rounds of combat. It's like eh??? I spent alot of time resetting to save squads/units. Donar churches are super helpful for reviving but if it isn't present in the chapter? Play absolutely perfectly otherwise you're basically going to be bleeding units. Could I clear every single chapter without issue? Yes, but it will cost a squad or half a squad here or there. Cool. Is that enjoyable? Not really. So I feel like resetting, then going through the same process. Add in the RNG nature of attacks, ehhhhh. This is a bit much. I found myself either smashing through 2-3 chapters in a row without any issue then I'd run into some sort of difficulty spike and I'd have to reset and play perfectly to avoid constant squad losses. Is it sustainable to constantly bleed squads? Idk it felt so bad to let it happen a few times I just ended up not letting it happen. This is a problem with a game where you have 8-10 units in a squad. Every single member has a role/point and if you start to lose one here or there the rest start to crumble and replacing them is difficult if not impossible. So what happens is, you end up having to play every single turn with 0 mistakes or constantly manual saving every single turn. Which, cool make a single mistake? welp that's a chapter reset unless you were save scumming. Maybe I'm just too used to having a rewind feature in these kind of games and this is backfiring. I don't know, but it reminds me of really old SRPGs with massive holes in QoL. Just too tedious tbh.

With that, I'd have to say, I can't recommend this one as it is. I tried to enjoy it, but it's just falling short in a few areas. Hopefully the next one knocks it out of the park in this regard.

To preface, I am playing this with the Legends DLC, which adds 8 additional chapters on top of the original 36 chapters (30 main + 6 gaiden) into 44 overall chapters. Firstly, I would recommend this game strictly for its gameplay alone. While serviceable, the story is fairly average and underwritten many areas. I am confident to say the narrative and characters are its weakest aspect, and the combat and squad organizations alone should carry the game just fine. One advice, you don't have to finish the Legends chapters right away until you feel comfortable doing so.

Secondly, I wouldn't recommend buying the collector's edition, which adds the "artbook + guide" and the OST, unless you really want to splurge. You'll find my reasoning in my respective reviews on their store pages, but the base game + Legends DLC is already a complete package.

Thirdly, I would personally recommend [url=store.steampowered.com/app/1535610/Soul_Nomad__the_World_Eaters/] Soul Nomad & the World Eaters [/url] if you want to play another game similar to this one. The difficulty is overall on the lower side, it's less political intrigue and closer to a shonen anime, but the gameplay, characters, sprite animations, and music are top notch.

I do recommend the game but I would probably never beat it to the end.
For the most parts, I believe you can have 2 types of tactical games: ones with fewer squads that are more customized (equipment, classes, affinities, traits, ...) and the one with more squads and less customization. The Symphony of war starts as the former, making you command and customize a comfortable number of 6-9 squads. You can still remember the leaders, the units, have some specific plans and develop according to it. Once it's mid-game, it gets closer and closer to its upper limit, somewhere around 20 squads becomes a reality.
In Fantasy General I could command as many troops more easily as they're all more or less the same and I don't need to care about the individual squad. Here we're basically playing an RPG-like game with 200-250 characters. Given that the inventory management (assigning artifacts, etc.) is inconvenient, preparations become a chore.

I do still find this game good, it's just not for me, but you should probably give it a try to see for yourself.
Just keep in mind the thing I said above. Playing with less squads will lead to missed deadlines and no S ranks - this is what these turn based games usually do, set a timer you can beat only with an army that is close to its limit (e.g. if the mission expects 15 squads, you will have troubles with 6). It would be a different story if you could do the mission in a slow guerilla way with just 6, but you will have to rush it.

I played it on Warlord difficulty and it was easy until I started to notice that the deployments limits go further and further, but I was still using my comfortable 6-8 squads. I might try to run the game on Normal just to see if it's any better for this style of a play, but I assume it would be way to easy in the first half of the game (that wasn't hard on Warlord) and still too hard later as you just need many squads to capture the multiple objectives.

I wonder which direction the second game would take. Even more squads? At this point the fan base may be large squads aligned, so I doubt the second game will be for me either. It's sad that it was the perfect game for me up until the squad scaling problem. I would be fine with a game that is balanced around the squad limit of 9 or so.

真的很令人上瘾的一款战棋。已严肃warlord难度通关
剧情方面虽然老套但也是个不错的故事，培养士兵并且将其转职然后组建各种阵容然后在实战中测试效果是本作核心乐趣来源之一。神器系统的加持也使得在面对后期同样阵容豪华的敌人部队时候能够做到以一敌三。
实际上即使是军阀难度中后期阵容成型后在实战中不犯大病的话也能做到一路平推。难点基本上在前期草根部队互殴时期。

Специально перечитал отзывы, один восторг, нет ребята, надо стараться, в героях реально крутизна, прокачка героя, призы, башни в замках, тут кроме линии прокачки юнитов я не увидел ничего. I like this game, reminds me of Ogre Battle 64. The gameplay is intuitive to me and I love the diversity of classes. There is replay value too because of the New Game+, and the freedom to edit modifiers is highly appreciated.

简单说几句：
1. PY上5块钱买的，初见战斗画面有点劝退，习惯之后感觉还不错。
2. 第12关的成就有点难打，主要是一周目很难想到如何肉身抗住大炮，而且提前养成卫兵需要力量值达标，要很早规划。
3. 剧情前后割裂严重，12章前是正常的反抗强权剧情，后面主角复活变神灵了再反攻很出戏。
4. 战棋部分的策略性很好，需要一定的养成规划，而且角色技能成长系数这里也值得研究，具体去贴吧搜精品帖子了解。
5. 其实老早就可以结档了，最后一战前在纠结让谁当谁的CP，放下了没打就一直到现在。

A fantastic game. Took me 70 hours to complete on default difficulty, maybe in hindsight I should have played on a higher setting as it was maybe a tad too easy. For the ultimate immersive experience I suggest turning on perma deaths.

Anyway, I think the most fun I had was tinkering with my units. I probably spend as much time doing that as playing the actual game. Optimizing their stats, training, upgrading, using the right items etc. Oh and the art was beautiful, it's great to see actually good looking people in a game for once. Well done devs.

Wow, I was not expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. The story is servicable, the UI is terrible...but that combat is incredible. Worth it if you enjoyed games such as Shining Force or other tactical RGPS.

This game and it's gameplay is a masterpiece. While the dialogue can be generic and dumbed down, the actual strategy, customization, and gameplay loop are so masterfully done that it being an rpg maker style game doesn't even matter. I played through the storyline and expansion on the hardest difficulty and it took me about 100 hours to conquer everything (I plan to do a newgame+ run as well with potential permadeath one day in the future). I wouldn't recommend this game for the dialogue but the actual world building and gameplay are top tier.

An amazing Tactical RPG for fans of Fire emblem, only problem I have is how many maps have points where it is a straight line. Great game if youre looking for a tactics type of game that you can spend time leveling up your individual units and make the squads the way you want according to your playstyle. the squad system is the biggest sell for me letting you have upto 9 units in a single squad and building your army up throughout the campaign. Story is alright, nothing that'll blow your mind but it keeps the player engaged and wanting to know what happens at the end of the game at the very least

I got this game on sale due to the very positive reviews. I'm not really into this genre, the artistic style (old 90's graphics, with "child-like" proportions) or even the gameplay system with 2D portraits and dialogues you have to click through.

I started up the game for a few minutes, and was about ro refund it.

However, I thought, "I'll at least give it a proper chance". I'm glad I did. The controls are a bit clumsy, and the grpahics are what they are supposed to be, I guess, but what really stood out was a quite interesing beginning of a story, and solid tactical/strategic depth.

This is a low tempo affair, but I'm glad I stuck around.

Give it a shot, after the first 90 minutes you'll know what the game is about.

Only about 10 hours in with this game and I got to say I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm nowhere near to being a hardcore turn-base/strategy rpg gamer that'll give you specific details about this game's mechanics pros and cons so I'll keep my impressions simple. Story is easy to follow and does a good job at retaining my attention to it's lore at least for me. Similar gameplay to that of Fire Emblem and Unicorn Overlord to which I do enjoy. Definetly going to take my time with this game and put in some hours even after I finish it's story. Not because I only want to get my money's worth out, but because I do genuinely enjoy it for the experience it provides me.

03/15/2026 Edit: Just completed the game. Absolutely love this game and highly recommend it to those who enjoy turn based tatics rpgs. Will buy the DLC cause I feel it is worrth it. I can't wait for the sequal.

I didn't buy it for a year because there were too many varying reviews. I wanted a game like Fire Emblem - the original ones before the Switch. Anyway, I finally gave in and bought this, and shockingly, it goes far beyond my expectations. I am even planning to play through this game a second time and buy the DLC - and I have never purchased DLC before. You don't need DLC to play this, but I mean, this is more fun than I expected. The variety is amazing. Just so much choice and variation. I can't believe the game is this cheap, and at this level. There are many advantages to this game that makes it unique and better than Fire Emblem - although FE does have certain qualities this game doesn't, but it isn't worth explaining as this game really is worth not only buying but playing. I'm going to say my biggest issue though - I was torn between this game and Dark Deity etc and ended up buying both - I can tell you one BIG thing - if you play this game first and then play Dark Deity - you won't be playing Dark Deity. So, either just buy this game, or buy Dark Deity first - cause the graphics in DD are just so awful once you play this. I just can't bring myself to play that game, and it was that game that prevented me from buying this in the first place... Anyway, I hope they have a number 2 of this game - I'm a major fan now!

The very right saying about this game would be Diamond in the rough.

Been some time since I have been looking for something similar to Warsong which is also known as Langrisser. This game has been in my library for couple of years until I finally got into it and man this is thee itch that has been bothering me all these years.

The tactical gem with different squads compiled of units that each has its own unique gimmicks and stats, a lot of freedom of creating your own army and equip it the way you want it to. Dozens of hours were spend in the camp, managing every aspect that give a lot of individuality to your soldiers that you can nurture from very early recruits to unstoppable knights and assassins.

That said there are quite a lot of flaws that can make your experience unpleasant:
- While the lore is fine, the story and narative is quite weak. Dialogues were luckluster, bonds were spontaneous and characters deviated from their princibples that ruined the dynamics.
- Many mechanics are not optimal and quite a bit are broken.
- Classes are not balanced right, you will find quite a number of them useless or ineffective even in their own niche.

Everything said though is countered by a lot of QoLs that make the life easier, like arena abuse or demotion with full retain of resources, that allows you to experiment without any trouble. There are even quicksaves in the middle of the battle which can save a lot of time for unaatentive players.

Overall this is outstanding idea but average execution, but if you are looking for some deeper Fire Emblem experience, look no further.

Symphony of War é sem dúvidas, um dos melhores jogos indie que já joguei. Mesmo sendo um RPG tático relativamente simples em sua base, ele constrói uma identidade própria muito forte, especialmente pelo sistema de gerenciamento de esquadrões, que exige planejamento e estratégia a cada batalha, dês de suas tropas até seu posicionamento no mapa. A progressão das unidades, as formações e as sinergias entre classes tornam cada confronto divertido e recompensador.

A história é interessante dentro da proposta épica medieval, ainda que seja um pouco previsível. Mesmo assim, os personagens são carismáticos o suficiente para manter o jogador, e o ritmo da campanha ajuda a sustentar o interesse até o fim. É aquele tipo de indie que claramente bebe de clássicos do gênero mas consegue se destacar pelo cuidado mecânico e pela profundidade estratégica que entrega além de ser extremamente viciante.

Excellent jeu ! Franchement, j'en ai eu pour mon compte, j'ai toutefois recommencé le jeu vers le chapitre 14 car en difficulté normal, le jeu est vraiment trop facile. Et d'ailleurs en difficile il n'est pas très dur non plus... Mais sinon l'histoire est assez classique, par contre le gameplay est vraiment génial et les différentes possibilités et build aussi.

Je vous conseil de le tester, il est en 2d, ne coute pas vraiment cher, et est bien mieux que beaucoup de triple A avec une durée de vie d'environ 50 h.

Ha oui juste parfois des petits bugs de traduction, mais franchement c'est à peine perceptible.

This is an absolutely incredible game that is a must-have for anyone with nostalgia for Warsong or Langrisser. The developer did a good job, though some odd design choices limit replayability and result in extreme frustration along the way. So my recommendation is: buy, but wait for a sale; it's a little pricey for its degree of polish.

First, the setup for huge armies with up to 20 squads on the field at once is incredible. And the fact that instead of leaders having 10 nameless minions, every unit in a squad is named and unique just blows my mind. This is one of those obvious game design directions most gamers have thought of and wished for, but that for some reason multi-billion dollar mega-developers just can't seem to figure out.

The UI and squad movement takes a bit of getting used to, but is efficient and intuitive once you get the hang of it. And the visual battle sequences are well done; They don't take overly long and so don't require skipping and they have a very nice retro 90s feel to them.

Unit progression is done very nicely. It's well paced, with plenty of choices, and RNG uniqueness of units plays a key role in determining their future. Some units can "class up" 4-5 times before reaching the top tier. And I really appreciate a game making dragons a terror on the battlefield; they just don't get enough respect in many games in this genre.

The storyline is sufficiently long. I worried it would end after 15 maps, but there are 30+, which is nice. And I've seen some complaints about the story elements, but I feel like they did a pretty good job. The gaming industry in general doesn't set a very high bar, and this game surpasses it, if not by a lot. And that's saying a lot for a game made by *just 2 people!*

But no game is perfect, and this one has enough I'd knock a star off if Steam had stars...

To start, replayability is near nil because there's a story mode, and that's it. No additional campaigns. No "career" mode of RNG encounters/maps (which is what the game really needs). This is one of those 90s gaming limits I'm definitely not nostalgic for. Though I can kind of understand given the small dev team.

There are also way too many overpowered story characters. You have some 15ish forced squads. Worse, those characters are often maxed or near max; some can't even get xp. So you really feel railroaded and like your decisions don't matter much. Maybe the story characters could all stay, but they could start as tier 1 units so you can decide which you want to build up like Warsong did (nevermind Baldarov), or if you just want to build your own. This might address the somewhat easy difficulty too.

Also contributing to that sense of decisions meaninglessness is the fact you can hire super high level units willy-nilly. In fact; the majority of your high power units are either given to you or purchased with a small amount of gold, invalidating the xp/leveling/progression system (which is the core fun component of any game!) Maybe if those hirelings cost 10x as much it might work, but it'd be better to force you to hire T1 units with maybe the very very rare and super expensive T2 available.

And there's just some weird unfun story choices. You build up leaders then they get taken away and you have no idea if you'll get them back (you get most back apparently). Or there's some ridiculous unbeatable boss unit that instakills all your guys forcing you to restart the map so you can avoid her. This stuff needs better telegraphing and more guardrails to prevent map restarts. As-is, I only made it as far as I did and had as much fun as I did because ChatGPT could answer all my questions.

But despite it's drawbacks, I had a lot of fun playing, and the nostalgia for anyone who grew up with Warsong/Langrisser can't be overstated. :)

ラングリッサー等と似ている時もあり脳内でオレツエー部隊を作成して敵を倒していくのが楽しい
PCだとつかれるのでsteamdeckで快適にプレイしています。ってかやっと出番のsteamdeck
物語も面白く好きな部隊を組むのも楽しい

Крайне увлекательная игра. Не думал, что пиксельная игра может принести удовольствия больше, чем многобюджетные графические гиганты. Очень продуманная механика, и баланс в игре. Интересные миссии, затягивающий схема развития отрядов и улучшений. Купил игру случайно, потому что скидка была весьма привлекательной. Um excelente jogo de estratégia que foca nos mínimos detalhes. Passei mais tempo organizando exércitos e testando configurações do que no combate em si — o que, para fãs do gênero, é um ponto altíssimo.

Prós:

Customização Profunda: A diversidade de tropas e habilidades permite criar estratégias únicas.

Narrativa Envolvente: A história, embora utilize alguns clichês, é muito prazerosa de acompanhar e longe de ser tediosa.

Custo-Benefício Imbatível: Garanti o jogo por R$ 18,00 em uma promoção. A campanha dura cerca de 40 horas (em ritmo calmo), oferecendo um conteúdo vasto.

Ótimo jogo, história bem coerente, muita reviravolta e momentos importantes. Personagens carismáticos e bem encaixados na história. A gameplay é bem divertida e desafiadora em alguns momentos. A progressão de nível das unidades é muito interessante e a variedade de composições e "builds" para cada esquadrão muito ampla. Momentos de conversa entre personagens da história são divertidos e natural, embora eu pense que uma quantidade maior de diálogos seria bem vindo.

No geral é um ótimo jogo para quem gosta de RPGs táticos como Fire Emblem, Dark Deity, etc...
Posso afirmar com total segurança que valeu a pena investir cada minuto jogando o jogo.
