I love how the game is non-linear and I can just go exploring in whatever direction I want, collect currency, and upgrade my character in whatever way I think is most beneficial to my gameplay style. And I also love the hand-drawn artwork. Gorgeous.

1.一个存档打不了多结局，成就不能全获得。想要白金必须再重新创一个存档，从零开始打。我直接打的好结局，用了11个小时。

2.游戏里看地图时不能暂停，地图不能放大，看地图时要一直按着键盘不能松手

3.难度为简单，但恶心。这个游戏的怪物会一直不停的刷新，你只能一直跑，因为怪物你杀完一批就会再刷一批，只有跑到特定的房间才能杀了怪物后不再刷怪，而且途中你基本看不了地图，这个游戏看地图时居然不能静止。这个游戏的跳跳乐没有难度，但是你跳的时候怪物会一直攻击你，不是满屏幕的怪物追你，就是满屏幕的激光射你。

4.这个游戏与其说是恶魔城，不如说是一个疯狂赶路刷钱升级然后开无双的垃圾烂费时间毫无趣味不如4399小游戏的东西

5.所有的怪物，小怪，精英怪，小BOSS，大BOSS，没有一个让我觉得有意思的。特别是BOSS，一个比一个烂，还有最后那个压轴BOSS，一点意思都没有，还是双形态，这个双形态的意义在哪？BOSS的两个形态之间一点关系都没有，第二个形态还把你的近战给禁了，强迫你去赚钱然后升级加农炮的技能。已经不是无聊了，打的我犯恶心，设计个这东西出来浪费玩家的时间

6.说好的“游牧民族在你最不想它们出现的时候出现’呢？说好的每次死亡以后地图都会发生改变呢？说好的地图的随机性呢？脱裤子放屁吗？有个毛的随机性。玩家感觉不出来的随机性也叫随机性是吗？

7.还有那些关卡，存在的意义在哪？除了增加玩家的跑图时间还有什么用？如果你想玩这个游戏，直接一直跑就行了，除了地图上有标注的房间，别的房间一点用没有。还有最后面那个专门刷钱的BOSS房间，我一打完你就给我强制传送回出生点，我想打还得再跑回去，有毛病是吗？我想升级技能不会自己回去是吗？就非得让我重复跑图是吧？还有这个地图的隐藏房间，意义在哪？就放个钱罐子，还没多少钱，我有毛病才像别的游戏一样去找隐藏房间。

Beautiful hand drawn art style, reminiscent of GRIS (also starts off in a desert like GRIS) but with combat gameplay and metroidvania and roguelike elements. Great progression system with a multi branching skill tree. Good sense of your limits regardless of difficulty, with only a very steep climb in the beginning on Insane. There's not really a presence of music, but that's about the one downside. A lot of perk options for different styles and situations. Varying attack mechanics and movesets that let you deal with threats differently. Very enjoyable game.

Horde mechanic is fine, though the enemy types are relatively lackluster, environments are beautiful and the obstacles are cool.

My main issue with this game is obstacle, level, and enemy design and how it relates to gameplay. 17 hours in and so far I've unlocked double jump, and a big laser cannon with 4 shots. I mention this because your character starts with a wall jump, basic attack combo, a finisher, and finally a really big dodge roll that's better for traversal than actual dodging.

It's not a bad system as your character is easy to handle (for the most part) and there's not a lot to learn. The issue comes in with how the game handles difficulty which is by throwing hoardes of enemies at you. Which is fine, it's what comes on the tin. But those enemies have no issues traversing the map, at all and that's where the issue comes in.

The games main issue is that it relies on this horde gimmick for all it's difficulty making it unfun and borderline unfair because the enemies do not follow the same rules you do. Most if not all the enemies ignore any obstacles or platforming problems. Enemies through walls, can just float around haphazardly making the platforming feel pointless.

On top of that a lot of the platforming and level design is very static and uninteresting. Despite the game taking place in an abandon excavation facility of an eldritch being it lacks a lot of just interesting obstacles and interactables. You have spike plants, lasers that move up and down, and eldritch laser energy that just pushes down and that's all I've encountered so far. It's disappointing cause the environments are beautiful but on top of enemies being completely unaffected by the obstacles, the slog becomes apparent when you're hitting the same spike plant that seems to appear everywhere.

I really can't stop talking about how irritating the game is for a metroidvania because it doesn't take advantage of what makes metroidvania's so fun and that's the platforming and secrets.

Platforming is essentially dead in the water here. There's no falls, the obstacles aren't interesting because if the platforming was a real challenge the poorly implemented horde mechanic would be impossible to deal with, the spaces are too narrow and too spacious all at once. Essentially the spaces are awkward for your characters to move around but too spacious to have a meaningful interaction with it.

Exploration is kind of rewarded but not in a way i would call meaningful mostly because perks are very temporary and boss rooms have the main game shards. Most of the time it is fundamentally better to just grind the enemies to upgrade at sanctuary.

I really want to like this game but the lack of player freedom and overreliance on stat based upgrades, and horde enemies rather than rewarding player creativity and skill makes this personally a no for me.

In short the games tell you to run around a playground while being hunted by rats but you're not allowed to hop over the rails or climb the swingset.
Play the messenger or Hollow knight.

Possibly one of my new favorite metroidvanias. Honestly just the shift in how combat is handled makes this a wonderfully unique experience. Enemies aren't in fixed places on the map, rather they will swarm you after a certain amount of time (or swarm you nonstop in some areas), leaving you with options to try and rip through the horde or flee. Even when you're taking them out in a couple of hits the sheer size of some of the hordes keeps it feeling frantic in the best way. The different paths depending on what abilities you unlock also make this well worth multiple playthroughs and the amazing visuals and animation are the icing on the cake.

[i]Sundered[/i] es un injusto metroidvania de temática lovecraftiana. Sí, has leído bien injusto. La principal característica de este juego, es que no está pensado para que te lo pases sin morir, sino para que mueras una y otra vez. Las hordas especialmente al comienzo del juego, se vuelven fácilmente inabarcables.

Por eso, si tu tolerancia a la frustración es baja o te agobia la idea de una lluvia de enemigos sin fin que acosen hasta que acabes con ellos o ellos contigo, definitivamente, este no es tu juego. Hago esta aclaración porque veo muchas personas criticando esta faceta del juego, cuando es de sus principales señas de identidad.

Ahora sabiendo lo que te espera, puedo continuar con la reseña, y es que yo he disfrutado mucho del juego. Me lo recomendó mi pareja y decidí probarlo, y como adoradora de Cthulhu y otros entes lovecraftianos y de los desafios que soy, me lo he gozado como una cria.

La ambientación es brutal, y pese a ser un juego de plataformas 2D siento que logra una inmersión plena en la historia desde el minuto 1; la trama es super interesante pese a su relativa simpleza, y creo que los bosses están muy logrados y bien integrados en la historia.

Artísticamente es una gozada, la paleta de colores brillantes empleada para pintar los escenarios me parece perfecta, y cada área que exploramos obtiene una personalidad propia dados su diseño y los enemigos que la integran y como se comportan.

Aunque en un primer momento, la jugabilidad puede sentirse tosca, una se aclimata a ella sin demasiados tropiezos, y una vez comienzas a entender la jugabilidad se vuelve mucho más dinámica y divertida, así que os animo a no perder la esperanza en esos primeros momentos más torpes.

En adición a lo ya dicho, es un juego bastante equilibrado, y creo que resulta bastante complicado balancear la obtención de mejoras conforme la jugadora progresa en la historia, y creo que en [i]Sundered[/i] se logra bastante bien.

También creo que la propuesta de las salas cambiantes es muy interesante, ya que contribuye a la sensación de desorientación constante que busca el juego, y mola que puedas progresar de forma no lineal a través del juego.

Puestos a criticar, hubiera preferido un diseño más original por parte de algunos minibosses [spoiler]que son idénticos que enemigos menores pero con mayor tamaño[/spoiler], y me hubiera gustado que hubiesen más zonas para explorar y más jefes que enfrentar, aunque así también está bien.

En resumen, si te gustan los retos y te van los juegos desafiantes, es muy probable que [i]Sundered[/i] vaya a ser un juego con el que disfrutes (y te frustres) mucho. Y no te digo ya, si encima eres una friki de H. P. Lovecraft, como servidora.

esta horriblemente aburrido no lo siento como un videojuego lo veo mas como una obligacion terminarmelo por que ya lo compre pero si tu idea de dificil es spamear enemigos a lo tonto i subirles un poco mas de vida solo para hacer no solo la exploracion tediosa si no tambien a la hora de enfrentarte a jefes si lo hace dificil pero por la cantidad absurda de enemigos que hay que de por si tienen demasiado alcanse y el arbol de mejoras es muy poco intuitivo lo senti muy tedioso todo el proceso de exploracion

sundered is a decent metroidvania paired with the best horde fighting/horror game i've ever played, how the devs managed to make every horde feel so horrifying and satisfying to go through is beyond me, they're completely unpredictable and are so frequent and inconvenient and very difficult to survive, the bosses are also equally as horrifying. beyond the gameplay this game has some of the best art and sound design i've ever seen , hope the devs make something like this in the future

After Jotun (which I could only beat because of the tremendous amount of hours I spent in Hades I + II), it seems like the developers at Thunder Lotus Games made freedom and ease of movement a top priority in their next title. And it really paid off.

The abilities, the combat, the exploration, and the discoveries, everything in this game is so much fun. The sense of progression with the central skilltree is really nice, and I very much enjoyed piecing the story together. It's not a large game, but it's very polished and well-calibrated (I played on Easy, Normal, and Difficult), which made me want to have more game than was there. So instead, I 100% my three saves.

The artwork is gorgeous and very creative, and a lot of effort must've went into the animated sequences (which reminded me of Jotun). And the voice actor for [b][spoiler]The Shining Trapezohedron [/spoiler][/b][spoiler](still not sure if the stone is talking or if it's a conduit for that Nyarlathotep guy)[/spoiler] is super awesome. Whenever he would talk I would just stand there and listen. Oh, music and sound design, too. Both greatly enhance the atmosphere.

Also, I also wanted to say thank you to Thunder Lotus Games for featuring female protagonists in all 3 titles I've played so far. As a female player, it just feels different, somehow.

[b]TL;DR: I liked this game so much I put other metroidvania games on my wishlist. I played through it three times, unlocking all endings and 100% the game's achievements. I could not recommend this game more.[/b]

NOTE: If you're having trouble with the game's unusual keybinds (I'm used to moving with WASD and attacking with my mouse), consider changing them in the options.

不错的“邪教朋克”类银肉鸽游戏，比起游戏更像是美术品，不推荐原价入库。

角色动作设计蛮有趣。探图能力升级围绕“信仰/抵抗”给玩家选择的自由度。
数值加点像是蚂蚁搬家，后期数值上去了又成了纯刷怪。想全成就需要至少3周目，给人食之无味弃之可惜的感觉。

宗教式世界观和手绘美术风格是这款游戏的特色，但可惜叙事不集中，老古神又是谜语人，一周目下来对于故事整体感知几乎没有。
作为银河城，地图设计无可褒贬。
boss战不难，数值上去了boss随便打。有的boss战设计的比较赖，完全靠地图来干扰玩家钩爪移动，强行拖时间。

因为当时库里没多少游戏就认真玩了，我觉得这一周目的成长还是值得的，但我应该不会选择二三周目打通白金。

Style over substance poster child.

As a metroidvania - it's semi competent.
Procedurally generated filler rooms between fixed map points make the game a bit tedious. Same with endlessly spawning mobs that are floating straight at you, through the terrain.

Yet still - most of the exploration is quite rewarding (at least enought for me to actually finish the game once).
And the art style is exquisite - one of the best depictions of lovecraftian horrors that I've ever seen.

I really enjoyed it. Looks gorgeous, sounds gorgeous, and plays- Well it plays great too, up until the end of the third region and its boss, where you gain the ability (and the requirement) to use the grappling hook - and that thing just does not work well on a keyboard. I had to lower the difficulty at that point, which felt kinda disappointing, but if you have a gamepad, I'm sure this game would be an unquestionable recommend. Without it, eh, you have been warned.
Still, at least for me as a relative newcomer to the genre, it felt really cool the whole way through, some sort of sauce is in here that is unusual to me and I really enjoy.
I've sung enough praises to Thunder Lotus' visual art abilities with Spiritfarer, so how great Sundered looks is no surprise. But again, it looks gorgeous. It has this weird thing where extremely large entities are unusually low res, as if the sprites for everything are the same size, even if the actual size of the entity may be way larger. At first it rubbed me the wrong way, but lowkey it kinda grew on me, as if the game struggles to convey the size of these larger than life beings.
One thing that consistently amazed me was the incredible sound design. Not sure how to explain it exactly, but the way Sundred uses these droning noises that build up in intensity was a great experience. And this is good because this game really likes to slash your life expectancy via strain on your cardiovascular system with this trick it constantly pulls where it just starts to overwhelm you - and the gameplay, the music, the visuals, the sound - all of them contribute to this feeling beautifully, especially in bossfights. Maybe it's my expectations from playing soulslikes for too long, but I am under the impression that if I get good at a videogame, I could nohit any boss, right? In Sundered, bosses start to panic really hard by the end of their health bar, and that forces you to just forget not getting hit because you know the last strikes are going to be done while tanking like 5 different attacks. And I like it, it's frantic, it's cool, it's great.
Max LL did an incredible job with the music, I don't know what else to say. Soundtrack of this game is top notch.
The VA for the Trapezohedron is awesome too. I hope he didn't drown in his own saliva while recording, cause it sure sounded like that.

From here until the end, it's about the story. I will spoiler tag the most blatant spoilers, but if you're of the more blind playthrough persuasion (based), you should prolly stop reading here and go play Sundered, it's very good.
Perhaps it has something to do with me belonging to multiple social groups that get demonized by religion, but I have this tendency to facetiously align myself with the satanic and the eldritch - the high and mighty and the "virtuous" abandon me, so why should I bow to them, that sort of thing. [spoiler]And on my first attempt of playing this, I went that route too. Even during that attempt, though, the feeling that I have been surrendering to religion started to creep in. This time I burned the shards and saw how much love this God truly held for me.[/spoiler] Like I said, VA for the Trapezohedron did an incredible job, and it is important that he did for this feeling. Just the way he says "Eshe~" is something else. [spoiler]The way location markers show names in both English and Eldritch (whatever it's called, Eschatonian? I dunno) also quickly shows a pattern of similarities between the two, as if speaking in tongues to appear more divine.[/spoiler] And I just thought this whole thing was a really cool subversion of not quite expectations, but preconceptions.

I enjoyed most of the time i spent playing this game. I loved the developer's previous game Jotun, so when i found out they make a lovecraftian metroidvania i was sold. The hand drawn art style and the fluid movement makes it a joy to play and look at. There were definitely moments that made my jaw drop from how captivating it was.
However i got burnt out. I hit a point of diminishing returns thats kept me from finishing the game. The art style can only do so much lifting. The "skill tree" is so incremental that progress feels so slow. There seems to be a huge difficulty spike somewhere in the middle where enemies can almost one shot you. Idk how but at some point the game started feeling more like a chore than "one more run".

Despite all that, i still think its worth picking up. The art style, enemy design, fluid combat. It is all good. Maybe your mileage will take you further.

The gameplay for this game was really good but the writing/story was even better, even though it was in some type of broken German. The skill tree should have been improved/ there should have been an achievement for completing the skill tree... could also have added costumes... but the writing and story were really, really good and made me want to play enough to get all 3 endings. Enjoyed on steam deck. Definitely would recommend the game

A Gameplay, ou "Simulador de Pânico" (sim, você vai ouvir o sino tocar e provavelmente ter episodios de ansiedade e terror): Imagine que você está tentando ler um livro e, do nada, 50 malucos com facas brotam do chão porque um gongo tocou. É isso. O combate é fluido? Sim, muito bom inclusive. Mas é tanta poluição visual na tela que, às vezes, você só aperta o botão de ataque e reza para ser o que sobrou de pé quando a poeira baixar. Ah, e o mapa muda cada vez que você morre, só para garantir que seu senso de direção seja tão útil quanto buzina em avião.

Arte: O jogo é desenhado à mão, e é irritantemente lindo. É o tipo de beleza que te distrai enquanto um chefe do tamanho de um shopping center pisa na sua cabeça e te amassa na porrada. É basicamente a Disney produzindo um filme sobre um pesadelo regado a ácido/L.S.D e criaturas lovecraftianas.

História e Ética de Centavos: Você tem um poliedro falante e tóxico no ouvido te mandando usar drogas cósmicas (Elder Shards). O dilema é: ou você continua sendo um humano fraco, irrelevante e que apanha como tapete em dia de faxina. Ou você aceita virar um mutante com tentáculos que quebra o jogo. A Árvore de Habilidades: É enorme. Tão grande que você precisa morrer umas 300 vezes só para conseguir o direito de ter um pouco mais de vida. É um dos esquemas de pirâmide mais honesto que já vi: você investe seu tempo, recebe humilhação e, talvez, bem talvez, ganhe +2% de dano.

Em resumo é um prato cheio para masoquistas que apreciam animação de alta qualidade. Você vai odiar o som daquele gongo, vai xingar os desenvolvedores e vai clicar em "Jogar Novamente" todas as vezes, quase como aquele seu relacionamento tóxico.

Not worth your time. Save slots seemingly can't be overwritten even after beating the game, which makes getting the 3 endings with 3 slots only possible if you arent an idiot, which I certainly was when I first played this. I personally hate the skill tree, I ended up just running loadouts for money only and farming the 1st area's boss to get maxed out, and I see lots of guides telling people to afk for money which speaks to a very flawed progression system. Combat outside of bosses is a mess of hundreds of enemies at best covering your screen to the point you're only looking at your minimap to tell where you are and at worst stunlocking and flinging you into deathpits, whereas boss fights end up being a joke if you have the right setups and have done the appropriate grinding or annoyingly slow if you're trying to progress at a hasty pace. The mechanic of destroying shards is not explained well at all, so on my first playthrough I went full corruption because I did not know that destroying shards would give me any boons at all, and because you do not have any understanding what corrupting or destroying will do makes it feel less like a choice and more like a coin flip if you don't want to use wikis. By the start I was really excited by the fantastic art and interesting underground world, but by the end I was just going "really? that was the boss?"

It's a beautiful and chaotic fever dream of Eldritch horrors that alternates between quiet exploration and at times relentless hordes. This Rouge-Lite-Metro-Vandia has all the prerequisites; constant chance of death, an ever shifting maze like map, permanent upgrades that unlock new areas, awesome late game powers, and of course smooth fluid combat and movement. The choice to resist or embrace the mysterious evil tearing this place apart, gives good replay ability.

The game's cartoonish style initially makes it look beautiful, but the more you play, the more confusing the art, gameplay and map become. The enemies are boring and generic, and the upgradeable powers are uninteresting.
The only redeeming feature is the fluidity of the animation, but the enemies are a muddled mix of concepts.
If you're playing on a Steam Deck, there are many other Metroidvania games on the market that are better than this one.

ボスキャラがデカすぎて自分が豆粒になるのはびっくりした。
１周目は強くなるために全部受容、異形のスキルで新しい発見がいっぱいあり楽しくクリア。
２周目は実績解除のため全部抵抗、異形のスキルが無いと探索が厳しい部分があるけど新鮮な感じでクリア。
３周目は残りの実績解除のために探索に有利な異形スキルのみ取得してクリア。
まあ、こんな感じで60時間も遊べたので満足です。

This game fails to give any sense of purpose or direction. The voice over is overly long without giving any interesting context or focus. The animation is pretty, but the UX is awkward as the damage animation and terrain hazards have no clear highlighting. Overall, it reminds me of something from a young designer who didn't get outside input related to how awesome they thought their own game was.

Overall it lacks soul and a hook to drive any interest.

Good game, I had fun. It's an interesting mix of a metroidvania with roguelite elements. When you die you usually come back way stronger to clap the enemies that beat you before. (At least on normal, on harder difficulties your progession is maybe slower) You could also grind, but I never really needed to and had a finished skill tree at the end. Except the perks, these would be grindy to max, you don't need to though.
Graphic and music is good. I even liked the narrator/companion. But don't expect a deep story, you get only a few bits for a rudimentary understanding of what happened there.
Beware of the start, it could be a bit overwhelming and chaotic and the game doesn't explain much. And also beware that there are areas of endless hordes, I didn't saw that the first time and wondered why there is no end.

PS: Good for Achievement Hunters, it's relatively easy to get 100% since you could get every achievement on easy (it's probably boring on easy though). You need only 2 playthrough and the second one has different enough skills to be worthwhile.

最初はよくわからないまま放り出され、どこに行くのかもわからず敵の群れに襲われては死ぬを繰り返すので何度も投げ出しそうになった
段々と主人公も強くなりシステムも把握してきて、ようやく探索の楽しさを味わえるようになった

敵の群れはいいが敵の遠距離攻撃の数が尋常じゃなくて滅茶苦茶うざい
ローディング中のTIPSで空中で攻撃を当てたら再ジャンプできると教わったのと、敵の飛び道具を攻撃でかき消せるパッシブスキルを得てから大分楽になった

移動に関するスキルがいっぱいあるので、進めていくほど快適になる
戦い方の幅も広がり敵が強くなる以上にこちらも強くなるので終盤程難易度が下がっていった
十字＋攻撃のスキルがかなり暴発するのはなんとかしてほしかった

HPの他にシールドがあるのがとても良い
地形ダメージが若干見にくくよく被弾して鬱陶しいが、シールドのおかげで実際は大したことがない
敵群と戦って結構被弾したのにHPが満タンとかよくある

総評として序盤は辛かったが非常に楽しめた
もしちょっと触って投げた人がいるなら思い直してほしい

В процессе прохождения вы должны будете уничтожать, либо принимать темные осколки, это влияет на концовку. Настоятельно рекомендую принимать их, идя по пути "плохой" концовки, в этом случае ваши способности будут видоизменяться, добавляя разнообразия в скудноватый "чистый" геймплей

Bought this game on sale as it had really good reviews for a metroidvania. Unfortunately, this is a bland game that fails to give any guidelines as to what to do or how to do it. You're immediatly stuck in a maze with sporadic enemies and closed gates all around. Boring to the max. Yes, it's quite beautiful, but doesn't make this game any good. Combats with enemies are chaotic, and messy. I really can't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed playing this game! Admittedly, I had a rough start for the first hour or so because I didn’t read the fine print. Any of the fine print.
Frist, I thought the game was a Metroidvania. It wasn’t until the third time I left the alter area that I realized the map kept resetting/changing. I had the “Aha, it’s a roguelite, my bad. Cool, cool, cool” moment. Then I encountered an area where I fought enemies for four solid minutes before figuring out the horde was suddenly endless. I have since learned that there is a text warning above the area title (the other fine print that I didn’t read).
But once the game clicked, I had a lot of fun. The combat is a bit simplistic, but it feels great to move the character, and the devs did a lot of cool things with mini-boss fights that I enjoyed playing. I also liked that the character’s movement sets genuinely feel different for my “Embrace” run. It made my second run through to grab the last achievements far more engaging.
Side note: I’ve come across a bunch of posts where one of the devs responded to questions, and I have nothing but respect for them. One, it is nice to see a dev reading and acknowledging feedback, and two, this person is so very kind and patient to people complaining about a product I am sure they worked very hard on. I would not have half as much patience while responding. Well done.

Um rogue lite precisa prender o jogador ou na curiosidade ou na ansia de evoluir... Mas aqui é só mesma coisa do inicio ao fim... Melhor ir jogar Dead Cells ou Hades.

Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a nice dungeoncrawler game with multiple endings. This perfectly can mark the stepstone between Super Metroid and whatever comes next, even if the bossfights are a bit laggy at times (because of high zooming out).

I enjoyed the game but I don't know if the game even needed the random level decision because most of the game already has unchanging areas and the rooms always lead to the important points of interest but because of the randomness of the corridors the game doesn't have set enemy positions and instead they have implemented a horde mode which works fairly well with some drawbacks, the main one being that by the time you get to an area you want to explore you'll already have loads of enemies on your tail and even after killing all of them (which if it's the stationary turrets good luck with that) at max three rooms later another horde will have activated. I liked all of the bosses, all the mask challenges having different themes was fun, and the movement augmentation all felt great to use.
This game is a mixture of a Rogue-light(with the upgrade tree and random lay outs) and a Metroidvania (with the having to get upgrades to be able to proceed in previous locations) and although it's not the best mixture of the two it's still pretty good.

Yes! Absolutely recommend. Great action and play control. I love all the wall jumps, double jumps, and how the character majorly prolongs her air time through different attacks. Great Metroidvania game! Also Perks and a Skill Tree add more depth.

After playing some more: It keeps getting better. If you're giving negative reviews, this game is just not for you, because this game is farkin awesome.

They mean it when they describe this game as chaotic. On early game, that can feel frustrating. After you get some upgrades and corrupt some abilities though? You feel like a god killing all those enemies like it's nothing. I think whether you'll like the game or not heavily depends on how patient you are to get through the frustrating start.
To me, Sundered is a good game that features some genuinely insane design choices. The unlimited enemy horde rooms are definitely one of those. These choices are not bad, and definitely make for a very unique experience with the game... But a lot of it can get overstimulating and "too much" at times. When I wasn't extremely confused about what is on my screen though? I was having the time of my life with this game. The combat, and the corrupted abilities especially, feel really smooth and satisfying to use, and going through endgame felt great as hell. The game is not balanced, but damn if it doesn't own up to it and feel great to play the endgame as an extremely OP powerhouse of a character. It's definitely a good payback after the weak early game. Also, the bosses feel so satisfying to beat. The overall game feel is good as ♥♥♥♥. Also the sound design, music and the language? Cool af, I rarely want to listen to these "companion"/"temptator" kinds of voices but this was an exception, this guy cool as ♥♥♥♥ and actually those abilities were worth it.
That being said, this same amount of chaos and freedom of the game and the unbalanced aspect of it all do have their downsides. The hordes can feel overwhelming very often, and usually when I was in such sections, at least before late game, I closed the game pretty fast, whether I succeeded or died, just because of the sheer overstimulation of it all. Eventually I learnt to ignore the hordes if they proved to be overwhelming and just do my own thing while they followed. I recommend you do the same, especially on early game. I also think the skill tree is too much of a headache, and requires too much grinding.I think there should have been less upgrades that do more and, potentially, cost more.
Other than that, not a good or bad thing but the game means it when it says it's equal parts roguelike and metroidvania. To me that was a fun balance, but i'm sure not everyone will appreciate that.
Overall I think if you don't mind the tidious early game or the skill tree being kind of a mess this is a pretty fun game to try out. It sure has its flaws but ultimately makes for a really fun time with some extremely cool bosses and the best ability set I've experienced in a metroidvania.

The combat is well balanced with challenging enemies and rewards for defeating them and ability upgrades differing depending on your choice between resisting and embracing.

Gripping, visceral setting, sounds, and visuals. Very, very fluid and fun combat. The story is light but very engaging. Don't let one or two minor frustrations like a slightly grindy tech tree or a slightly grindy map, prevent you from trying the experience. Those things entirely fade into the background. I've beat this twice on GoG, then bought it again on Steam and for as simple a game as it is, there's something about it that sticks with me -- I think about it out of the blue and suddenly want to experience it all over again.

[h1]A short but pretty sci-fi/cosmic horror-themed metroidvania that is very enjoyable with a friend[/h1]

I enjoyed Sundered as a 2-player co-op experience with blend of couch and Remote Play Together co-op.

There is a good balance of exploring, puzzles, and gauntlets with endless enemies. The most enjoyable puzzles tend to be in optional areas to get bonus traits, and while there was some back tracking, I didn't find it frustrating.

Movement felt good - the game has a standard set of traversal abilities like wall jumping, dash, double jumps, and rolling. Many of these are unlocked through play. There were not many tricky platforming challenges, certainly not to the degree of difficulty of Hollow Knight.

I enjoyed the unlock tree, the traits to customise your build, and the encouragement to explore.

Minor criticisms: there are some icons on the map that would benefit from explaining or additional consistency: some flashing "door" icons represent places you've not explored while some represent significant area transitions; endless hordes mode would benefit from a visual indicator (small icon on screen) to different it from a small horde rush. I encountered one (non-gaming breaking) bug in the second boss fight that the developers are aware of but have not fixed (low gravity).

Не понравилась игра совершенно. Почти каждый элемент геймплея отталкивал, стоило ему лишь появиться:
- Зелёные колючки полностью сливаются с окружением и не читаются. При этом они нарочно расставлены так, чтобы их можно было задеть. Видно, насколько неестественно они расположены, как будто левел-дизайнер создавал не гармоничный уровень, а просто "ну вот тут мы поставим колючки";
- Платформинга много и секции с ним полностью бессмысленны. Перейдя из одной "комнаты" в другую, ты уже не будешь помнить, чем та комната отличалась от этой текущей. Начальная локация ничем не запоминается, серая, блеклая, сделанная максимально скучно;
- Врагов на локации нет. Точнее, есть лишь в начале игры, которых необходимо или перепрыгивать, или дэшиться через них - они не нападают. Зато потом, после получения оружия, враги нападают исключительно толпой и как будто по скрипту. Нет никаких патрулирующих врагов, тебе просто навязывают сражение;
- UI этих врагов при этом максимально странный - огромная красная полоска, которая становится оранжевой, если по врагу прошёл урон, и эта оранжевая полоска медленно убывает. Максимально нечитаемо. А ещё у бочки есть полоска здоровья, а у кувшинов - нет.

Больше я вынести не смог. Дизлайк.

I want to like this game, but there's a few things I don't like about it. The upgrade system feels tedious. enemy spawns can be silly, spawning in areas that have already been cleared. Some enemies can shoot through walls, which is annoying. Getting back to areas can also be annoying.

I do like the movement, and the story seems interesting, But the negatives overpower the positives.
